rose and dirk are characters who are always thinking about how they look in front of people and are very into keeping up with aesthetics and appearances. and yeah this applies to a lot of the other hs characters too, especially the strilondes. but rose and dirk are especially similar in that they are both very convinced that the "polished" masks they've constructed for themselves do their job of covering up every single possible insecurity they have (mainly that they're huge gay nerds). this is due to the fact that rose and dirk think that they're smarter than everybody else. which is, to be fair, true. but not to the extent that they think since they're both kids raised on wiki articles on the internet. which they are also aware of, but being aware of this fact makes them feel smart and it loops right back into feeding their egos, which are very fragile egos that could crumble at the drop of a hat by the thought of having other people "see" through them and realizing that they are, in fact, gay nerds. so rose and dirk both cope by acting out in increasingly outlandish ways to prove that they're completely confident in their own identities. because an insecure person would be too scared to do furry roleplay or watch my little pony "ironically" or et cetera, so by doing these things it's like a weird one-uppance to the people around them who think that stuff is too weird. but they do have a limit, which is complete sincerity. and that's why roxy lalonde is actually the strongest strilonde and could duplex both rose and dirk in a fight. this was a read 💅

Thinking about how much better cassian and eris’s conversation at the end of acosf would’ve been if it was nesta instead of cassian’s dumb ass.Cassian literally had to have it spelled out for him that eris is wearing a mask and might actually be a good male and even then he still missed the mark completely and called him a coward.I think nesta would’ve been a lot more understanding especially when she realized her and eris might not be so different after all.It could have been a defining moment to show nesta’s growth and the whole scene just would’ve been a lot more captivating if it was nesta involved 🤷.

This goes hand in hand with how I’ll literally never get over SJM fumbling so hard when it came to nesta and eris and I’m not just talking in the romantic sense.I’m talking nesta playing courtier with eris and being the only who can deal with him because he only seems to like her.Nesta seeing past eris’s cunning mask and cruelty and him seeing past her tough exterior and harsh words.Them slowly developing a silent sort of understanding of each other and eventually becoming allies.Maybe sharing a kiss here and there because they’re both hot and single and they want to.Their relationship genuinely had so much potential and their chemistry was off the charts.I’ll forever be in mourning.

But even Ricciardo before the summer break, [in] the races before the summer break on balance Ricciardo has been better than Tsunoda. and he has actually been quite strong. He was strong again in the Belgian Grand Prix. [Ed Straw: He's been doing well, yeah.] A few races before the summer break my understanding was that Ricciardo and Perez had basically been told up your game before the summer break because that's when we're going to revisit things. It wasn't a promise or a threat either way, but it was a give us your best so that when we sit down we've got absolutely everything we have. One of the drivers pretty much rose to the occasion; has Ricciardo been stunningly good in the midfield? No. Has he been good, effective and doing pretty much what you can with that car? Yeah I think he has, actually. [Ed Straw: Yeah he's been pretty decent.] So I don't really see that he has floundered in that situation whereas Perez has, he hasn't risen to it. It just doesn't make any sense to set, not conditions because they weren't conditions or targets or anything official like that, but to have these sort of milestone moments like the summer break which they talked about they said they wanted to use that, get out of the race weekend and then have a proper conversation about it and then do nothing. Like I said, I hope and I expect that we will learn more about this in the coming days, then we can relay that as much as we can to all of you people that are listening because there has to be some rationale to this that that we're missing.
