X-rays: I’ve had to have five chest x-rays in my life, all to do with Japan’s fear of tuberculosis even though I’ve been vaccinated (it was mandatory to supply an x-ray the two times I’ve had to apply for a visa, and then they were required as part of yearly health checks at work.)

Professional Dx. it feels like it’s been such a long time since then

3. Are you currently hypo/manic, depressed, mixed, stable, or not sure?

I’m depressed right now I have been for like two and a half months at this point and I’m at the point where I just want to be manic just so I can feel something other than sad

4. Do you have any other mental illnesses/disorders?

I have generalized anxiety disorder and excoriation disorder 

5. When did you first start having symptoms?

It was like my junior year of college. It really fucked up the end of my school career because I didn’t really know what was happening or how to deal with it.

6. When did you realize/learn that you have bipolar?

I realized it probably towards the beginning of my senior year of college. I was self diagnosed at first but then I explained my symptoms to my therapist and he referred me to a psychiatrist who diagnosed me. 

7. Have you ever received a misdiagnosis?

Yep I was misdiagnosed with depression at first. surprise surprise

8. How self-aware are you on a scale of 1-10?

When I’m depressed I’m like a 9 or a 10 but when I’m manic I’m like a 1 or a 2. I normally don’t realize I’m manic until after I’ve done something stupid.

9. How many people know about your bipolar disorder?

My family knows and my friends know and some coworkers know as well. I try to be pretty open about it. Honestly I’m open about it because it makes people uncomfortable sometimes and I like weeding those people out of my life.
