FNAF SPOILERS! SCROLL! TALKING ABOUT THE SPRINGLOCK SCENE!

i’ve seen so many people discussing the springlock scene in both negative and positive ways and i think it brings up really cool points about how matthew played that scene and balanced fan expectations with his own characterisation.

i think the discussions around this movie have rlly exposed the disconnect between fanon and canon in fnaf, especially talking abt the core games in isolation, bc frankly in the game universe (ignoring the books) we get Very Little characterisation for William other than the obvious, but Matthew managed to add so much in the way he talks and his body language.

in the reveal scene, we see afton at arguably his peak. in his first scene, he comes off as somewhat demeaning and judgemental until he recognises mike’s name, at which point he seems to have this nervous energy, rushing to cover it up but stumbling slightly, his reaction to the tables being turned even slightly is massive.

this is a man who committed multiple mrdrs in essentially broad daylight, hid the bodies in the most obvious place, and still got away with it, and then kept the crime scene as a trophy of his actions, and an ongoing prison sentence for his victims. he has been in complete control for decades, and is confident that he can deal with any kind of threat quickly. his confidence in his reveal is palpable

it changes when vanessa shoots him. the whole parallel with vanessa and the animatronics is hugely interesting too- how william refers to the animatronics almost endearingly as “kids” when he wants them to obey, how both vanny and the animatronics have an unearned loyalty to him, almost a pseudo-adoption through what he did to them, taking them from their parents and keeping them under his thumb, forever stuck as naive, forgiving, obedient children. vanessa breaking from that control shakes him, but the mask slips back into place almost immediately.

then, he’s outsmarted by the brother of one of his victims, and the child he planned to end next. his pseudo-children turn on him and he can no longer manipulate his appearance or shed his skin to escape. he explodes on them, and his language is incredibly telling that he is being dishonest.

he calls them small, trying to belittle them into submission, even though they are ten feet tall metal animatronics powered by rage. he is grasping at straws to regain control, and failing miserably.

finally, the springlocks go off. the locks in the movie look more like a ribcage, so the first two likely puncture his lungs. they’re slow, and painful, but he doesn’t scream or beg or sob. he grunts and groans, gritting his teeth and only letting out sounds of pain that sound almost involuntary. there is no way in hell he would visibly let himself show weakness or pain in front of these creatures that he believes he has control over. he isn’t brought to his knees until there are eight metal spikes embedded in his abdomen. he doesn’t let the mask fall for even a second, until he literally PUTS THE ACTUAL MASK ON and finally collapses. even then, he’s fighting for consciousness, twitching and writhing with no control over his body. william afton thrives on control, and his soul will not rest until he gets it back.

it’s why he keeps the pizzeria- he always comes back. he can’t help but return to the scene of the crime, putting on his old costume, continuing his killings. he revels in being a constant threat on the horizon. and now, he knows he is going to die, and he knows the suit will bring him back, and noone will be able to get rid of him then. so he puts the mask back on, and waits.

in terms of the sfx- they’re pretty accurate. with stab wounds, you need to leave the knife in the wound as long as possible for best chance of survival, as it stops the blood from escaping. in terms of the springlocks, there wouldn’t be copious amounts of blood as the locks are keeping the wounds filled- which is good because it means a slower, more painful death.

bucky’s so into your chest it’s unreal. at the sight of your pants hanging just that bit lower, he realizes he has access to the skin lingering just below where he loves to touch you most. its undoubtedly where you love for him to pay most attention to, too.

you’ll feel his hands lingering up your chest before you even realize he's there. you’d anchor yourself on a nearby counter as he downright fondles you, fingers slipping in as he teases your nipples between his fingers. he’s a bit insatiable, greedy really. bucky would let his flash hand rest on your waist eventually, deciding that the feel of his metal fingers in your walls was enough for you for now. after a while, though, his hands would move in tandem. he’d find a pace that’d have you folded in front of him…and all because he couldn’t resist the slight peak of your skin.

jayce talis

jayce is already in your lap when he realizes your shirt is a bit shorter, pants resting lower than normal when he’s cuddled up here. he's observant that way…easily acknowledging the subtle changes you make even when you dont realize them yourself.

it’s how he noticed that you were a bit more sensitive today, riled up by what is usually quite innocent touches around your hips. the pads of his fingers ignited a flame in you that had you writing, almost begging him to oblige your crave for him. he would, always would.

it wouldn’t be long before he’s slid your pants down and kneeled in front of you, absolutely devouring you with his mouth. he’s quite fond of resting in your lap, yes, but even more happy to unravel you with his tongue alone. it’s calculated and deliberate, his hands using your bared stomach for leverage as he pulls you into him. he loves the way you roll into his mouth…it only makes him want you more.

frank castle

frank castle is the epitome of loyal…so when he finally sees you again he’s so close to exploding already.

he’d stalk into your place after being gone for weeks, remaining stoic as best he could. he’d see your waist, though, your skin…and be gone. against his better judgment he’d already be on you, skipping any pleasantries and pushing for the sweetest talk that you undoubtedly missed.

he’d apologize profusely, slipping into you with little prep but needing it this way nonetheless. it’d be a quiet and rushed, “sorry, baby. just missed you.” the words blending together, also mixing with the now squelching sound of you two fucking each other. it’d be sweet still…franks hands tethered to your skin and rubbing away any ache you had.

joel miller

the first word out of joel’s mouth is a drawn out and gruff “darlin’…” it’s almost accusatory, that you know what you’re doing and exploiting his pure and unadulterated lust for you. he could almost loathe you…for making him anything less than the southern gentleman he attempts to be despite the trying times.

he’s quick to sit on the couch, legs spread and hardened length making itself known through his rough pants. his words are always laced with that southern drawl…one you’d grown to love and pine for when he wasn’t around. he’d motion you over with a quiet “come ‘ere,” rubbing the topside of his thigh.

he’d get comfortable, letting each of you fall into sync with one another…yet making note to grab your waist. he’d keep a single hand kneading into your side as he slipped his calloused fingers inside of you. joel is slow and generous, letting his grip roll you down into his other palm. he’s happy to do this, to be yours to use…yours however you’ll have him.

matt murdock

matt murdock is so sensory that he’d notice because of the way the air is moving around you…how the heat of your skin is no longer hidden by the fabric of a long shirt. he would perk up at that, the way you’re slightly exposed to him and all the more ready for him to latch on to.

matt would sneak up on you for sure, being able to sense your focus being elsewhere. you would immediately recognize his hands…softly rubbing at the exposed line of your stomach, and kissing your neck as he nestled behind you.

he’s usually one to make it sweet, facing you so as to have direct access to every reaction he’s drawing from you. this time, though, he can’t help but take you from the back…hands consistently rubbing into the soft skin at your waist while he has your entire body shaking. your whines would fall on drowned out ears…matt completely locked in on the feel of your supple skin.

It looks like with the movies taking off, everyone is on the Dune train now!! Which is very exciting, I’m glad a bunch of new people are discovering this media and reading the books, but can I recommend you the David Lynch, Dune (1984) movie.

First of all, if you are invested in the lore of the books and the deeper messaging of the story, you’re going to need to turn that part of your brain Off. If you love kick ass shit and are willing to be slightly tipsy while you watch and have a great goddamn afternoon, this is the flick for you.

Now first fun fact I’m going to share with you. David Lynch (twin peaks, eraserhead director, celebrated surrealist) turned down the opportunity to direct Return of the Jedi for this film. A film that was devastatingly slow to make, changed hands multiple times, had a pricy VFX budget of $40 million and then made barely $31 million, David Lynch turned down Star Wars to work on it. And he did this when he had never read the novel, and did not even like or engage with sci fi media. THAT’S how you know we’re really in for something.

Now this film has some big names in it! We’ve got a young Kyle MacLachlan who is rocking some Devastating outfits:

We’ve got Sir Patrick Stewert as our Gurney and Sting, lead singer of the police, playing the 15 year old Feyd Rautha! If you wanted to see a grown man, sprayed orange, basically naked playing a free wheeling maniac you are in for a treat! And another fun fact, David Lynch also did not know who these actors were, he made a mistake and thought Patrick Stewert was someone else and when Sting said he was in the police he assumed he was in an organization of lawmen.

Now these characters are familiar to you, but let me get into the unfamiliar. Lynch made some directorial executive decisions throughout this film, for I suppose the ease of the viewer? I mean an adaptation is supposed to adapt so he went let me change some stuff up👏👏👏.

Those who paid attention to Jessica’s backstory may know about the Weirding Way. This is a martial arts style created by the Bene Gesserit, and practiced by Paul. It is more than just a fighting style but also an important philosophical concept, like Aikido or how Kung Fu has foundations in Buddhism.

You may also be familiar with the quote “My name is a killing word.” This inner monologue of Paul’s refers to how his title Muad’dub will be used to spur a holy war. A simple name is what people will die and bleed for, it will be what they scream as they cut down enemies.

Dark! Intense! That’s Dune, anyways in the novel it’s easy to take your time exploring these concepts. Introducing the audience to the religious ramifications of a simple name and fighting practice and how these things can have rippling repercussions upon a society like the Freman.

Now David Lynch didn’t have time for that! He had the belief (that may be right🤷‍♂️!) That watching a bunch of people kick each other on top of a sand dune would be Lame😭😭

So he made the choice for his film that “My name is a killing word” was to be taken Absolutely Literally and invented a device where if the freman said the name Muad-dib, shit would explode.

If they said Paul’s name, they could Explode Stuff. Let it sink in how rad that is. Hell yeah man, hell yeah. Imagine me interpreting religious text that way, imagine if I made a bible movie and the moral I took from a parable is that when Jesus asked for food and everyone donated fish, I concluded that Jesus was a mutant who had fish powers and could immediately conjure fish with magic and gave him fish death rays that shot out of his hands.

So that’s what you can expect from this interpretation, the weirding way now means everyone has Lasers its rad as hell.

Some other incredible choices made! This is a spoiler, but in the novels and the new films you can see the Freman collecting every scrap of water they can. Dr Liet-Kynes, the planetologist, reveals to us it’s because they have a long, multiple generation spanding plan to fix the planet. By introducing this water back they hope to reset the ecosystem over centuries of work. The reason they have been unable to do this is because a green planet would obviously not have worms and sand who produce spice, the most coveted drug in the empire, so imperial and harkonnen forces have been stopping this from ever happening. They want to be free from oppression so that they can start to work on slowly fixing their world, a project that plays out in Paul’s adult life and has its own dramas and complexities.

In Dune 1984??? The moment, the Moment Paul lays out his cousin and throws the final punch, it begins to rain in Arrakis. As if they were all under a magical curse and were just waiting for a teenager to come fight another teenager and then the water will come back. It’s so good, it’s so funny.

Also Pugs! House Atreides official Pugs! Paul has pugs in his lap!!

This is honestly an adaptation choice that I really really like! Paul is the result of centuries of selective breeding, this practice is an artform to the Bene Gesserit and a skill that they monitor closely. It produces bizarre and sometimes terrifying results and is the reason for Paul’s existence.

I think having an animal that was also created through selective breeding, was engineered from a wolf into an animal that can hardly breathe is an incredible metaphor! A smart and identifiable symbol for the audience, I think it’s a slam dunk and the new movies should have done it to.

Anyways can not recommend this film enough.

-The body suits the bad guys wear are made out of real body bags, that actually had been used.

-David Lynch to this day hates it.

-The original cut was four hours.

-The cast and crew were sick the Entire shoot with something they called Montezuma's Revenge, which was probably just food poisoning, side effects from the constant smog because they shot the whole thing on backup generators, illness from the cockroach infestation and terrible morale.

-Frank Herbert saw it multiple times and said he absolutely loved it.

-When they ride the worms, sick rock jams play.

If you love electric guitar, lasers, worms and will forgive me for not including all the trigger warnings cause Yes this film will gross you out, then go watch this movie.

I feel deeply uncomfortable seeing how misunderstood Mike is—not just by the general audience but especially by some fans within the "Byler" fandom, who are supposed to be the ones who understand him best. They are incredibly harsh toward him, wishing for his death, for him to be beaten and humiliated, all because of his behavior in the last two seasons, particularly towards El and Will. This is largely due to his repressed homosexuality and internalized homophobia, but also because of his mental health, which is, in reality, utterly miserable yet so widely ignored.

These Byler fans, many of whom are teenagers or in their early twenties and some even part of the LGBTQ+ community, show little to no empathy towards him. They fail to realize the level of violence that existed against homosexuals in the United States during the 1980s, amidst the AIDS crisis and under Reagan's presidency. I strongly encourage you to conduct in-depth research because it is evident that you vastly underestimate the extent of the widespread, normalized, and, most importantly, violent homophobia of that era. Even people who could have been open-minded were wary of gay individuals out of fear of contracting AIDS, fueled by widespread paranoia and mass hysteria.

I believe Season 1 already paints a clear picture of this atmosphere—through Joyce’s words about how Lonnie referred to Will and through the slurs Troy and his friend used at school. These lines and characters were not included merely for storytelling purposes; they subtly highlight the pervasive homophobia present in the town (and the country) at the time.

Countless gay individuals of all ages in that period preferred to reject the mere idea of being homosexual—along with their own feelings—and would even become homophobic aggressors themselves as a form of self-preservation. At that point, it was pure survival instinct. To avoid being bitten, you bite first.

Now, let’s remove the supernatural trauma from Mike’s context and consider his reality:

We have a child who has been bullied throughout his school years in a small American town during the 1980s, a time when the AIDS crisis was at its peak. His best friend is bullied for appearing/being gay. When Will goes missing, the town—including his own father—suggests that it was expected because he was gay. The only plausible explanations, according to them, were either:

He was kidnapped and murdered by a “queer” (and let’s not forget “sexually assaulted” because one of the most dangerous stereotypes about gay men at the time was that they were pedophiles).

He committed suicide by jumping off the quarry because he was gay.

Everything related to being gay at the time was synonymous with death—whether from AIDS, suicide, or murder for simply being gay. And this violence, hatred, and fear were widely accepted and validated by society.

Now, imagine placing all of these subtle yet deeply ingrained messages inside the mind of a 12-year-old child.

On top of that, Mike’s emotions have always been ignored or minimized by everyone in the series, especially by his parents (even if they mean well). So what do we have? A traumatized child who has been humiliated and relentlessly bullied all his life, who has been made to understand that expressing his emotions and feelings is pointless, that no one listens to him, and that he should stay silent.

Even from the beginning of the series, Mike has always had a bit of an "attitude"—which, when he was younger, was endearing to the audience. But that’s mainly because he is extremely sensitive and deeply caring, yet he struggles to express himself and be heard, as most people don’t listen to him—especially when it comes to his own emotions and feelings. So what does he do? He bottles everything up. He internalizes every emotion until the pressure builds to the point where he explodes—just like in Season 2 when he lashed out at Hopper after being emotionally exhausted and pushed to his limit upon learning that El had been alive the whole time without his knowledge.

Mike’s situation is incredibly complex, with countless factors influencing it: his repressed homosexuality, his internalized homophobia, survivor’s guilt after El saved him, guilt over hurting both El and Will, his complete lack of self-esteem, his unresolved trauma from being bullied, supernatural traumas, the quarry scene (he was suicidal at 12—I repeat this because it still doesn’t seem clear to many people), his fear of losing Will or El again, the massacre at the lab where Bob never returned… I could list dozens of examples.

But do you realize the sheer emotional and traumatic weight he has never "unpacked"?

The only reason people are so harsh on him is that, for the past two seasons, we have had zero insight into Mike’s perspective. We have no access to his thoughts, emotions, or inner world. All we can do is observe him closely, piece together what we know about him since Season 1, and logically connect his behaviors, facial expressions, and words.

But here’s what’s truly baffling: these Byler fans who are so cruel to Mike are supposed to already know everything I’ve just explained. They should understand it. Yet, despite this, they show a complete lack of empathy for him. It’s as if, to them, Mike isn’t allowed to make any mistakes.

Yes, his behavior is frustrating. Yes, he has made mistakes. Yes, he has said hurtful things. But isn’t that what being human is? It doesn’t change the fact that he has always been a kind-hearted person with a huge capacity for love.

I mean, if we’re really going to judge a character’s worth based on their mistakes, should we condemn El for making Max fall over out of childish jealousy in Season 2? Should we blame her for violating Mike and the boys’ privacy by spying on them? Should we hold it against her for outright denying and dismissing Mike’s pain when he said, “I’ve been bullied my whole life,” and she simply replied, “No, you don’t”?

Of course not. We acknowledge that those actions were wrong, but we understand the context and underlying reasons behind them. So why is there such a glaring lack of understanding when it comes to Mike?

Yes, his behavior is frustrating, but ask yourself—would you do any better in his situation?

I’m sorry, but I find it incredibly hypocritical that people normalize insulting and hating this character while completely ignoring the context.

Mike always apologizes to Will when he messes up, which shows that he does reflect on his actions (even if he only does this for Will). He is willing to put himself in danger—even risk his life—to save and protect those he loves. He has a massive heart. He does not deserve the sheer cruelty I see directed at him on Twitter. His actions can be criticized, but he does not deserve to be hated or insulted.

Because the reasons behind his actions in the past two seasons are, in reality, deeply tragic.

Mike is profoundly miserable, and I am convinced he is suffering from depression—especially with the clues subtly left in Season 4, which many fans have picked up on.

I sincerely hope that in Season 5, they finally reveal what Mike has been feeling all along—shedding light on the internal struggles he has been battling silently for years. Whether through Vecna or some other means, Mike needs catharsis to finally heal. He needs to suffer—not for the sake of suffering, but because it is the only way for him to face his traumas and emotions instead of repressing them.

He has been running from his own feelings, burying them so deep inside that they are eating him alive. He is reaching his breaking point.

And that is heartbreaking—not only because it speaks volumes about how poorly mental health was treated in the ‘80s (and still is today) but also because even now, the audience continues to ignore it.

Instead of blaming Mike for his behavior, ask yourself: Why is he acting this way? Why has he changed? Why does he say the things he does?

The answers confirm that, more than anything else—besides therapy and being happy with the man who loves him—Mike needs to heal. He needs to understand that he matters, that he has worth, and that his emotions are valid.

And believe me—if he felt safe enough to express them, he would.

However, it doesn't mean they're one to look for loopholes- because they do! The more specific you are with wording, the less Sohan is capable of finding a workaround.

While they are an intense individual, when it comes to intense situations, they are surprisingly calm. Then again, that's to be expected for someone who's surrounded by chaos. In the heat of the moment, evading the enemy, the person behind the wheel is the one to keep the most cool.

If Sohan were a storm, they'd be the eye of it.

PERSONALITY: Daichi is a stickler for the rules. It's something he finds comfort in, is well endowed to- like a set of commandments. Sure, the process of abiding to them is... questionable, but that's simply how he is. It works for him, it should for others. Education is no different from it, though he works himself to be at the top. The prime example, or..no, not example; the best. Surpassing him in any matter is unorthodox- especially his field.

His sibling, Sohan, is an unremarkable waste of potential. Intelligence thrown away for whatever they do- so when they got a letter from Hope's Peak Academy regarding that very 'wasted potential'- suffice to say Daichi was not thrilled. Though when he himself acquired his talent far into studies in the reserved course program: he had second thoughts.

As a prime example of academic achievement, why on earth was he given the title of an Immoral Compass?

EXTRA:

• He's in the same class as Sohan, as he skipped a grade or two back in elementary. He is incredibly gifted, though his sibling is much smarter than he is [which upsets him, as they don't put good use to that].

• Used to be a reserve course student, until he acquired his... less than ideal talent [grinded for the view, hated how it looked].

• Daichi HAS to be 1st no matter what. Sure, he's inclined to help others with academics but they CANNOT surpass him. He freaks out each time someone gets a better grade than him [has broken multiple pens].

• He has a notebook for any subject, including notes on other people he finds 'interesting' [putting them under a microscope], his own personal thoughts [one which his older sibling reads through like a soap opera], and everyone's grades that he keeps track like fantasy football.

• Is REALLY really good at videogames, which is shocking for someone like Daichi.

• His eyes flare-up when he expresses great feeling of embarrassment.

• With his anger, it marinades instead of immediately exploding. Teehee it festers until it blows up MUCH later.

Tokika is good at mediating conflict on the playground, your so called 'recess referee'. Though at times she does let both sides play out to find a middle ground so everyone's happy.

• She shares a birthday with her father, Mondo! 

• She's the one organizing family game night, and she INSISTS on it each and every time. 

• Tokika stems from the word 'Toki' (time), and 'ka' (fun). 'Ka' can also come off as a question based statement at the end of sentences, so whenever she asks 'time?' it's like she's saying her name, asking if it's time to play.

• Her eyes flare-up whenever she's on a winning streak. 

• Bit of a devil in disguise?? Just a smidgen.

Hello everybody, I've come to give you all this absurd reference guide for drawing Fresh. yep. I decided to spend hours slapping this together.

If I got anything wrong or should add anything PLEEEASE lemme know! All ideas welcome!

If you want to see my "research" on this character, let me know in the replies, because there's so much to talk about with him and I'd love to do a character analysis or two, I couldn't put much about his personality or source posts in this because it's just a drawing guide!

Fresh is actually this little parasite controlling a host body. (if you didn't know that why are you reading this post rn!?! but nah I love new Fresh fans, welcome!)

The main parasite is this purple one with the eyemouth and four(?) tendrils, the other colored tentacles are prrrobably Fresh's offspring (freshmageddon moment?) (I'm not actually sure, I'm just pretty sure they're not part of the main parasite but are parasite tentacles)

invitation to speak more about the secret good td3 in your head, if you so desire!

Ok so I sat on this ask for DAYS because I wanted to have some cohesive, great answer, but the thing about The Dreamer Trilogy that haunts me is that I can never come up with good concrete thoughts about how to fix the issues I have with it, which is why I reference the “secret good td3 in my head” because it can never fully leave my head in any real way. That being said here’s a list of some elements I would change to make my secret good td3, in no particular order.

The visionaries don’t exist. Liliana, Persifal, etc. are just psychics that keep getting visions of the end, and die for reasons other than their power. Explaining what Visionaries are and subsequently over explaining the magic system of td3 is part of what made the trilogy so confusing and ruined a lot of the magic that the TRC universe already had for me. We don’t need concrete explanations, and psychics can still fill this role. The changing age and exploding added nothing?? to the narrative?? that I can think of?? We can even keep the age gap for Carliana if we want to, just make Liliana an older psychic like Maura/Persephone/Calla. It will even add to the excellent Carmen-Mr. Gray parallels.

Lean more into the themes of the age group. TRC is a coming of age story. It’s about being 17/18. It’s about learning your inner self and getting others to see the true you. TD3 should be more about being 19/20/21. To me, TD3 at its peak is like Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 6. Which is uniquely about the horror of being in your early 20s, losing support systems, having to learn to be a full self-reliant person, grappling with what your parents did to you, and the crushing loneliness of not being around Your People anymore. TD3 has all of these themes, but I really think they need to be fleshed out more, and given proper conclusion that isn’t just “yippee everything is fine now!”

Greywaren is longer. I think almost everyone agrees that Greywaren, as a book was just too short to wrap up all the plot lines set up, and does almost none of them justice. That book needed a whole rewrite. In theory, I’m completely fine with how it opens—Ronan being in a dream coma was foreshadowed from CDTH, and is an idea that I’d actually thought of as interesting before even reading the book. Other elements of this book like Declan’s rampage, Matthew going rogue, etc are great directions for the characters, I’d just want to rework them. I could make solo posts about any of these.

The Pynch breakup either doesn’t happen, or is set up further in advance and lasts longer. Personally, I lean towards the latter. Adam and Ronan’s conflict is set up from the very beginning of CDTH, or even from Opal (Adam warring between wanting to stay with Ronan and needing to follow through with his lifelong plans, and being frustrated that Ronan never asks for anything from Adam (specifically, to stay) ((side note: perhaps Adam’s insecurity here about Ronan respecting his boundaries so thoroughly stems from both having a family that never would respect his wishes, and Gansey (Adam’s model of love, Adam’s model of everything) having to learn not to ask things like that of Adam. What does it mean that Ronan never even tries?)) AND Ronan dealing with the crushing loneliness of being left and dealing with the consequences of having a long distance bf who is more successful than him). So they needed to have an argument about this. It’s also just in character that these two would not be perfect communicators. So. My idea: In CDTH we get no Adam POVs, just Ronan’s side of the story. We see, rather than Ronan just getting upset over one missed text, that Adam begins to pull away after the murder crab incident. We the audience don’t know why, other than Ronan’s unreliable narration and insecurity. So when Adam doesn’t respond to that one text at a vital fraught time, Ronan does what he does best, shuts down, pulls away and self destructs. Then MI rolls around and we start getting Adam POVs. We learn that after the murder crabs, Adam was throwing himself into trying to fix the nightwash situation for Ronan (Adam is not in contact with Declan here, unfortunately). After visiting for Ronan’s birthday and seeing the Lace, Adam starts to have dreams/premonitions about the end of the world (no visionaries in this universe, just psychics who are/were close to dreamers getting the visions!!). So he obviously sets out to fix this alone too. He calls his best approximations to contacts in this underground world that aren’t Declan. Henry and Mr. Gray. (+ maybe also Maura & Calla) ((Also don’t worry Henry doesn’t leave the Sarchengsey trip, just advises Adam on where to start)). Now that Adam has lost contact with Ronan (he was busy and missed the message and Ronan went off the grid like in canon), he goes full throttle into trying to solve everything while managing being his perfect Harvard persona (this gets him close to a breakdown, very reminiscent to Dream Thieves). Perhaps we get to see Adam and Declan working together to acquire sweet metals and understand the underworld of magic together. He and Ronan fight the one time they get to talk over the phone, Adam because he is truly scared Ronan will be the one to end the world, Ronan because he feels like this is another person perceiving him as a failure and wanting to control/baby him (+ he hates Adam hanging with Mr Gray and Declan of all people). By the time Greywaren starts, Adam is wrung out and hurting and Ronan is dead to the world, so yeah. He doesn’t think he can spend emotional energy playing safeguard to his boyfriend’s coma corpse. And then by the end of the book they have an actual argument/discussion no “they didn’t need words” cop out.

The number of Dreamers/Dreams has to be reduced. It’s cool to say that dreams were always integrated into this world, but it creates so many plot holes it isn’t even funny. There is no way Niall could have passed off the Greywaren being a box that brings dreams to life if Dreamers were such a common occurrence. No secret can be kept that well, someone in the black market would have known, and thus Greenmantle/Mr. Gray/Laumonier/ect WOULD HAVE KNOWN !!!

Declan does not have all his character erased by suddenly loving his mommy and daddy. Seriously what the fuck was that. Declan suddenly deciding to forgive his father because actually Declan was secretly the favorite child first is INSANE. Especially after seeing that that changed because Niall and Mor WANTED TO KILL HIS BROTHER!!! The two tenants of Declan Lynch in TRC were protecting his remaining family and fucking hating that Ronan idolized Niall just because Niall loved him best. So why make Declan turn around and do the same??? Suddenly Niall wasn’t so bad because actually he let Declan be shoved into a car trunk during a shootout out of love. I hate this plot line. Family doesn’t have to be forgiven. Understood, that’s one thing. Forgiven?? Not always. Sick of it. The real takeaway from seeing those memories should have been closure to Declan’s arc of learning that dreams should be viewed as people completely.

I definitely have other points but I cannot think of them right now. And I want to post this so I will. But TD3, as you can see, makes me an insane person.

Sentry vs. The Avengers (with science!)

In my previous post I calculated how much power MCU Sentry actually has, given the "power of a thousand exploding suns" statement. Now, I wanna throw the rest of the Avengers into the mix as best I can. We're only gonna look at the original six Avengers in this, because that's generally what people seem to be implying anyway.

I'm gonna focus more on power rather than abilities, because we could argue those all day, especially in regards to our two strongest original Avengers.

For reference, we've calculated Sentry's power as about

2.415 × 10^47 joules

Or, how much energy all of Earth uses in a year, 2.836 octillion times over. So, a lot.

To start, I really don't think that we need to say anything about Steve Rogers / Captain America, Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow, or Clint Barton / Hawkeye. Even without thinking about Sentry's actual power, we saw what he did to the Thunderbolts. Even hits from Bucky's vibranium arm glanced right off of him. Sorry, gang, but those three are done before the fight begins.

Now, onto the teammates that have any real amount of firepower.

First up, Tony Stark / Iron Man.

Surprising absolutely no one I would hope, Tony's not doing very much here.

Within the MCU, his suits are powered by arc reactors, which output an immense amount of power every second. Tony even said specifically that he has found more efficient ways to power his suits, but continues to use the arc reactors anyway.

Now, the palladium arc reactor (as in, the original version of it) was calculated by Tony as outputting 3 gigajoules (10^9) of energy every second, or 3,000,000,000 joules per second.

We could say that the newer arc reactors are way more efficient than the original palladium one was. This is honestly likely. We don't have any numbers for it, but let's be super generous and say that the Mark 1 arc reactor is like a Triple-A battery (5400 joules) when compared to the prime version of the arc reactor from something like Infinity War or Endgame.

Setting up a quick proportion, we can find then that, under this assumption, our best arc reactor (and therefore our strongest version of Iron Man) is producing 1.67 × 10^15 joules of energy (per second).

This is a lot of power. However, when we compare to Sentry's power, we see that his is about 10^32 times bigger. So, unfortunately, Tony's peak possible power giving him many benefits of the doubt is nowhere near what he'd need to take on Sentry.

Next up, Bruce Banner / the Hulk.

I'm gonna be honest, this one is probably gonna be the hardest. Besides the fact that Hulk is certainly nerfed in the MCU compared to the comics, we also don't really have much info on any feats that I can use to measure his strength.

The best thing that I can find for any measure of it that I might actually be able to calculate is that scene in She-Hulk when he throws a boulder into space. So, that is what we will go with.

To throw something out of Earth's orbit (which is what we are assuming he did), it needs to reach escape velocity (which it must have reached immediately given how it just flew straight out of the atmosphere). Earth's escape velocity is about 11.2 km/s, also known as 11,200 m/s.

Next, we need a guess for how big the boulder is. It's a little shorter than Hulk (about 2.6 meters apparently) when he picks it up, so let's be nice and sat 2.5 meters. It's somewhere between two and three times as wide as it is tall, so we'll be generous and say three times, making it 7.5 meters wide.

We'll then calculate an approximate volume for the boulder using two hemispheres for the rounded sides and one cylinder for the bulk of it. From this, we get that the volume is just about 45 cubic meters.

There are a lot of possibilities for the density of stone, which we need to calculate how much this stone weighs. I am not a geologist or anything, so I don't know how to identify the type of stone either. We're gonna go middle-of-the-road here, then, and say that the density is about 2500 kilograms per cubic meter.

This makes the mass of our boulder 112,500 kilograms.

Now, Hulk in the MCU might have an unfairly low number of feats to go off of, but this is not much for him to lift. It is the escape velocity part that makes it so impressive, because throwing something hard enough for it to escape Earth's orbit is crazy.

Anyway, let's calculate that kinetic energy.

E = 0.5 × mass (kilograms) × velocity^2 (m/s)

E = 0.5 × 112,500 kg × (11,200 m/s)^2

E = 7.056 × 10^12 joules

Oh, boy. That is not a lot. What else can we look at? The destruction of the Avengers facility in Endgame? How would we get a measure on that?

As I've said before, MCU Hulk is a hard guy to get a number on. He is nowhere near as strong (from what we've seen) as Hulk in the comics. However, let's look at the comics anyway. He's lifted a lot of things in the comics, one of which is a mountain described as weighing 150 billion tons. We're not gonna use that.

Instead, we are going to go with what could be the greatest push of his MCU strength, given the Avengers Facility lift. Let's see how strong Hulk would be if he had to lift up the entirety of New York City.

In kilograms, New York City weighs about 764 billion (source). This is far less than the 150 billion tons from the comics, but, as we said before, this is MCU Hulk who has been massively weakened. I don't see a world where MCU Hulk (as he is) can lift the entirety of New York City. Still, let's check it out anyway.

The energy to lift something on Earth of a given mass a certain height can be found with

E = mass (kilograms) × gravity (m/s^2) × height (meters)

The mass is 764,000,000,000 kilograms. Let's say the height he is lifting it is 1 meter. Gravity is a constant of 9.8 m/s^2.

E = 764,000,000,000 × 9.8 × 1

E = 7.4872 × 10^12 joules

Honestly, kinda crazy that this is just barely better than throwing the rock into space.

That is a feat I cannot see MCU Hulk doing, really (though based on these calculations he probably could). Either way, what we're seeing from this is that, while he is very strong, he does not hold a candle to Sentry's power.

Even if Hulk was a thousand times stronger than he is, he does not hold a candle. Even if he was a million times stronger, Sentry still has him beat by a factor of 10^29, or 100 octillion. In the comics, they might go toe-to-toe easily, with it being a coin toss either way depending on the issue and the Hulk, but in the MCU? Nah. The real shame, though, is how much weaker the MCU has made him :(

Finally, Thor

This is the one we were all waiting for, wasn't it? You know him, you love him, it's the God of Thunder. But, is he stronger than Sentry?

Let's see.

Thor's biggest (and most calculable) feat that I can think of in the MCU is in Infinity War when he holds open the iris of the forge to form Stormbreaker, and takes on the full force of the neutron star within for a period of time.

Now, for Nidavellir, things get a little weird to calculate. This is for a couple of reasons, one of the biggest being that it is hard to know information about neutron stars. It varies immensely depending on the star, just as it does for regular stars like our Sun. Most of what we have measured of neutron stars is from the youngest amongst them, as those are hottest and brightest.

Neutron stars are very small (at least in comparison to most stars). They are what remain of the collapsed cores of massive stars following a supernova explosion (provided there isn't enough mass left to form a black hole instead) (source).

Someone with far more patience than me has already calculated the diameter and surface area of Nidavellir given Thor's height and the number of pixels on screen and stuff, so I will use those numbers for this, though I am going to break away for the rest of it lol. So, we'll say the surface area of Nidavellir is 5,410,729 square meters.

Neutron stars don't actually tend to have a particularly high luminosity, with the youngest ones having the highest. From what we know, though, Nidavellir is not a very young neutron star. If it was, it would be very hot, hot enough that the ice wouldn't have been able to form around it, even given the Dyson's sphere containing it. I don't care how good your sphere is, you're not stopping a young neutron star that is 1 million Kelvin from melting ice off of it.

So, this has gotta be an older neutron star. That drops the luminosity even more. When the star is around 1 million Kelvin, the luminosity is around 10% that of the Sun. That's gonna go down more the cooler the neutron star gets.

However, I want to be as generous to Thor as possible. So, instead, we're just gonna say that the 10% of the Sun's luminosity is what we're looking at. In fact, I'll even be extra generous, pretend this is a younger neutron star, and give it 20%.

This leaves Nidavellir's luminosity as 7.656 × 10^25 watts (joules/second).

Now, what is the surface area of Thor? Using Chris Hemsworth's height and weight, we can calculate that his BSA (body surface area) is about 2.3 square meters. Since the star is only hitting his backside, we'll divide this by two to get about 1.15 square meters.

The power per square meter of Nidavellir can be found by dividing its luminosity by its surface area, leaving us with 1.415 × 10^19 watts per square meter.

Now, to see the amount of energy that Thor took on while holding the iris open, we need to multiply the power per square meter by his surface area, by the number of seconds that he endured it. Within Infinity War, he lasts maybe fifty seconds of the few minutes he is supposed to in order to finish the axe. This also mortally wounds him, and he would not survive if not for Groot using his arm as a handle and allowing Thor to heal with the completed Stormbreaker.

I'm gonna be extra extra generous here and say that, considering movie cuts and editing, Thor lasts, in universe, a minute and a half, or 90 seconds.

Let's calculate our energy.

E = power per square meter (W/m^2) × surface area (m^2) × time (s)

E = 1.415 × 10^19 W/m^2 × 1.3 m^2 × 90 s

E = 1.656 × 10^21 joules

At our most generous.

Remember, Thor did survive this, but not really? Like, he would have died if not for Stormbreaker.

Regardless, we can then say that this is about the power that we know Thor can withstand. How does that measure up to what we calculated for Sentry's power? Well, Sentry is about 10^26, or 100 septillion, times stronger.

So, once more, it looks like Sentry comes out on top.

Now, what does any of this actually mean? I don't know. Like I said at the start, we're not talking about abilities or anything like that (because those make things so much more complicated). We're just looking at what we can calculate.

And, with what we can calculate, even when we give those original Avengers as many generous takes as we can (arc reactor output, lifting New York, surviving ninety seconds rather than like fifty), they are still nowhere in the ball park of what we have calculated Sentry's power as.

I like to imagine, in a funnier world, that this is what Valentina meant when she said that Sentry was "stronger than all the Avengers rolled into one," because, if so, she's right.

janus shut up about tv girl challenge 💀 this isn't even really my favorite band lmfao I just feel like it suits nervous and pascal so well. there's this overwhelming vibe of longing in that whole album, like you had something wonderful and now it's gone and you're scared that that was the peak of your life, and it's all downhill from here. now it's just the memories and the bitterness and the things you left in each other's apartments. OUUGGH IM RGRGH AUGH

drawing-wise I like how nervous's drawing turned out. I have a tendency to absolutely destroy my colors and make them all muddy and blended so being limited to like five colors total and having to use the screen tones and dithering effects and stuff made it feel really... sharp, I guess? I don't like how it interfered with some of the details (like the face) but it was definitely a good way to tie everything together. main gripes with this one are the bandage on his leg (I know the blue is like symbolic or something but why is it so much darker than his skin it looks stupid) and the brick in the background because WHAT HAPPENED 😭 I finished this drawing at like 3am and I really thought I knocked it out of the park with that

ripp's is definitely worse though. the cover for who really cares is incredibly simple, but the one for sports is a whole picture, and I feel like I didn't lean hard enough into the yellows that dominate most of it. the piece looks nice, don't get me wrong; the colors are way richer than I usually would've chosen and it looks awesome, but... it doesn't look anything like the reference. which was kind of the idea. with nervous's, even though it's not incredibly similar to the album cover, you can see where I'm going with it. I don't think anyone would know that ripp's was based on the album cover unless you told them. I set myself up for failure the second I used more red/orange tones than the yellows and creams. whoopsie daisy I guess

I can't really pick out a single song that reminds me of ripp from this album, but I feel like the whole thing gives off "I need to get out of my hometown asap" vibes, as well as the weird awkwardness that comes with figuring out what to do next, which I feel absolutely screams ripp. go struggling small town boy! struggle to navigate early adulthood!

anyway idk I kinda hate both of them just because I've been staring at them for probably six hours combined and I'm about to explode

Hubble Just Released A New Photo Showcasing This Remarkably Strange Looking Lenticular Galaxy; NGC 4753

Featured in this new image from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope is a nearly edge-on view of the lenticular galaxy NGC 4753. These galaxies have an elliptical shape and ill-defined spiral arms.

This image is the object's sharpest view to date, showcasing Hubble's incredible resolving power and ability to reveal complex dust structures. NGC 4753 resides around 60 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Virgo and was first discovered by the astronomer William Herschel in 1784. It is a member of the NGC 4753 Group of galaxies within the Virgo II Cloud, which comprises roughly 100 galaxies and galaxy clusters.

This galaxy is believed to be the result of a galactic merger with a nearby dwarf galaxy roughly 1.3 billion years ago. Its distinct dust lanes around its nucleus are believed to have been accreted from this merger event.

It is now believed that most of the mass in the galaxy lies in a slightly flattened spherical halo of dark matter. Dark matter is a form of matter that cannot currently be observed directly, but is thought to comprise about 85% of all matter in the Universe. It is referred to as 'dark' because it does not appear to interact with the electromagnetic field, and therefore does not seem to emit, reflect or refract light.

This object is also of scientific interest to test different theories of formation of lenticular galaxies, given its low-density environment and complex structure. Furthermore, this galaxy has been host to two known Type la supernova.

These types of supernovae are extremely important as they are all caused by exploding white dwarfs which have companion stars, and always peak at the same brightness ~ 5 billion times brighter than the Sun. Knowing the true brightness of these events, and comparing this with their apparent brightness, gives astronomers a unique chance to measure distances in the Universe.

“Rejection is like waxing very hairy Yeti’s back; all you have to do is tear is all off in a quick motion and you get exposure” Abbey commented, making almost no sense with her strange reference.

“Right… Well, If she doesn’t then she will be making the biggest mistake of her life; Like my rah! Why wouldn’t she go out with you?” Cleo dramatically pushed clawdeen down the hall, asking the question that set Clawdeen off.

“Because! What if she doesn’t like me? She is way to cool for me anyways! And the fact that she plays casket ball with my brother is even more embarrassing! No offence Draculaura” she looked to the short vampire as she shrugged.

“None taken, still, you two will be a fangtasic couple; and I’m already planing the wedding” She smiled to her self as she gave Clawdeen one last big push to stumble right up next to you as you closed your locker.

“-Guys I can’t do this-“

“Do what might I ask?” You leaned into your locker as Clawdeen looked to you, stunned for a few seconds before turning to look behind her, only to find all her ghoul friends gone, peaking around the corner at her as they gave her a thumbs up as comfort.

Clawdeen sighed, obviously annoyed at the fact they ditched her.

“um well… I wanted to know if you wanted to go out to coffin bean with me… after school; if you’re up to it of course” she rubbed the back of her neck, trying to to make direct eye contact with you as she played it as cool as she could.

“I would love that; as long as you would” You said, stepping a little closer to her as you almost shyly looked at her.

Her ears perked up as she turned to face you, clearly excited at you excepting her request, but once again played it off as cool.

“perfe- cool, see you after school?”

“yeah, see you after school” you winked at her before you walked away to the casket ball team down the hall.

Clawdeen was about to explode with how excited she was; and judging by the squealing that was coming from down the hall, so were her friends.

He’s astoundingly hyperempathetic, just the idea that he may have hurt someone made him burst into tears; and yet he seems to have difficulty reading other people’s emotions. And he has no sense of personal space at all. He’s a sweetheart and he makes up for every shitty “neurotypical person proves how nice they are by befriending the autistic person” trope."

"I don’t think I can explain this in a convincing manner, but trust me it makes sense. For an (ex)assassin he is so bad a lying, he brings up details no one was talking about and ends up getting himself into trouble because of it. This is a massive spoiler, but I do think it’s really important to the point; during the first main game the cast are discussing the kitchen incident and whether or not Kai actually threatened Nao, causing her to attack Sou. During which they ask the question why? Why would Kai want Nao to do that, what would he get out of it? They eventually come to the conclusion that it’s because he was trying to steal the computer that Sou had found, and this immediately dooms Kai to his unfortunate fate. But the only reason they are able to get there is because Kai himself says ‘to steal something perhaps?’ when being questioned why he’d have it out for Sou. At that point it’s not even being bad a lying, there was no attempt to lie there he just said what happens in front of everyone and doomed himself. I love him but he’s not always the wisest. There’s something about even the main character thinking openly that he’s a bit weird. One of his first lines after being introduced is him worrying about the laundry he left hanging outside. They’ve been kidnapped and put in a death game and he’s worried about laundry. There something relatable about his limited facial expressions. His face doesn’t really change much unless he’s showing really big emotions, which makes him come across as really aloof and mysterious. The classic ’are you okay? you look sad’ face. Kai also won the most autistic Yttd character - excluding Gin- poll, so there’s that."

Dude I finally read the neon void and I’m going a little crazy.

I just kinda really really love it. I knew it was good but I didn’t expect it to be that good. So that was pleasantly surprising. I also for some reason didn’t expect to get Leo narrating for whatever reason but I’m so glad we did. It makes me so sad the misunderstandings the boys had when Leo’s being Leo but with a darker appearance (and being so unnecessarily aggressive with the remarks toward himself like baby no 😭)

I can’t exactly speak from experience but the way grief was written was so so nice. I guess I could be completely off base bc I have yet to experience that type of grief (the perks of not getting close to too many people I suppose) but it feels really realistic. I super appreciate it bc I’m gonna use it as an actual reference bc it’s written in a way that’s understandable? I guess? Like I didn’t really get the specifics of grief before and I guess I can’t really now, but I do have a better grasp I think. Ah it made me hurt a lot tho

I’m still kinda taking it all in but all of everything was just so so good. I would love to hear about all your favorite moments and aspects bc I feel a ramble on my bones but it needs to be awakened teehee

A reason I’m so obsessed with TNV is how Leo is characterized. I’m sure I’ve said it before, but I LOVE crazy/insane characters Idk what it is about them but they always peak my interest. And the way @/sugarpasteltmnt writes Leo’s madness just feels so real!!! Insane characters + unreliable narrator (especially if it’s the insane character) = NCSDJHDSCNDJSJCN#NJISCDNDC I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!!! The misunderstandings of the brothers is also written so incredibly well. Again, it just feels so real. Their theories of who Neon Void is, their greif, their reactions to the taunts, etc. is all so realistic dfhuncfeuhncefihncufehneuhfcn

Oh and I also want to mention this fic made me LAUGH OUT LOUD. That does not happen with me!!! Especially with a fic????? Unheard of. (Specifically it was the Highschool TV show chapter)

Another thing I really like is how Donnie is written!!! I don’t even know what specifically about it, it’s just perfect!!!

Yeah I know what you mean!! The greif is written incredibly well, and though I haven’t experienced a loss like that, it definitely seems like a valid and (like I’ve said above) realistic way for each of them to react. I think it definitely does give me a better grasp on how some people grieve as well!

Summary: The New Year brings changes to the Bloody First.

Evelyn is not okay.

It’s so obvious, so why is Drew Stiles the only one who sees it?

Sure, everyone had been a little worried when she first came back - from the dead, from Bastogne, wherever - but when she didn’t explode into tears or break down, when she didn’t faint or swoon because of her head wound, they all miffed and frowned and moved on.  The vets all grumble about how it seems she must not have ever really cared about her friends anyway, and the replacements gawk at the Reaper who brushes off death like an annoying bug, seemingly unfazed.

But this isn’t Evelyn.  This is the ghost of Evelyn, for lack of a better expression.  Or maybe just a vacant shell.  Her body’s here, trudging through snow, leading the platoon with her new promotion, but her heart is just gone.  One night, when the two of them were sharing a foxhole, she had been so still and silent after she fell asleep, Stiles had reached out to feel for her pulse, visions of finding her death-like body strewn across the pavement of the airbase filling his head.  He still swears to this day that he hadn’t been able to find her heartbeat in that foxhole, but her chest had been rising and falling, so he had chalked it up to numb fingers and moved on.

He tried talking to Aiello about it once, in that first week or two.  Frosty and bitter, Aiello was angry, pissed that Eve was moving on, unaffected by their recent losses.  That she didn’t seem to care.  Stiles argued back - something’s wrong, something’s really wrong - but it wasn’t until Evelyn had Aiello sent off the line to act as a runner that the New Yorker started to thaw, peering through his own grief to see what Stiles has been seeing.

Stiles still doesn’t know exactly why Evelyn sent him off - something about a red bird - but he does know Aiello needed it.  The constant shivering, the bitter remarks, the faraway look in his eyes, how it was taking longer and longer to drag him back into conversations and out of his own mind.  He argued with her about it, but when he came back, there was an undeniable lightness to his shoulders, his eyes a bit more clear.

“Thanks, princess,” Stiles heard him mutter to the still-then sergeant when he checked back in.  She reached out, squeezing his arm tightly.

“Gotta get ya to the end, Aiello,” she said back, something vulnerable peaking through her mask. “I’m not losing anybody else.”

So now Aiello sort of agrees with Stiles, and will occasionally keep an eye out on their newly appointed lieutenant, trade glances with the bespectacled man whenever she does something worrisome.  If Pierson is keeping an eye out as well, Stiles can’t tell.  He’s just as abrasive as ever, arguing with Evelyn whenever he can, and it’s a coin flip over whether she argues back or not.  Sometimes, she snarls and snaps right back, both of them with raised hackles like feral dogs, and sometimes she doesn’t rise to the bait, instead just refusing to argue with him, leveling him a glare.  Sometimes, still, she’ll stop, pausing enough for Pierson to quiet down, and then she’ll agree with him, let him continue on with his idea or plan as long as he isn’t barking it at her.

While Pierson gets a varied response from Evelyn, Dickson and the new lieutenant from third platoon are not so lucky.  Whatever patience Evelyn had before is long gone and she’s blunt as ever when dealing with Dickson.  He’s started containing himself solely to second platoon, to Aiello’s relief.  Stiles just rolls his eyes as the New Yorker talks about being free of that “brown-nosing bag of dicks”.

The lieutenant from third platoon, however?  Stiles and Aiello both have a bet on how Evelyn is going to injure him first.  Aiello’s torn between a broken nose or a kick to the balls - both very typical of their friend.  Stiles has a pack of Lucky Strikes down for a bite.  With how much she’s been snarling lately, he wouldn’t put it past her.

Youwy and chat started slandering Bloodborne so I left. The slander of fromsofts best game is insane so I am going to list why it's the best game they've ever made:

The environments are beautiful, the gothic Victiorian setting, gorgeous architecture and views. The way the moonlight casts shadows on stuff, and you can see the shadows in the air if that makes sense.

Bloodborne also has the best poison swamp. The snake balls are funny and the way those guys' heads explode into snakes is so creepy and awesome.

The weapons are the best fromsoft has ever made. Original, unique movesets for every weapon (except for kirkhammer/LHB and saw cleaver/spear but those are intended to share movesets and they have some different attacks like the transformed ones) the trick weapon mechanic is peak too, there's so much depth to be had with it.

The chalice dungeon system is very cool too. If you know where to go and what to do you can have a maxed out weapon with perfect gems before beating vicar Amelia. They're fun to explore and a nice challenge. It also features unique enemies and bosses such as the bloodletting beast. I like the bloodletting beast, it is cool. Having the best gems locked behind them gives players an incentive to explore them, but it's not ultimately required, it's just an option for min maxers.

The general bosses are also amazing design wise, as well as gameplay wise. The One Reborn being an abomination made from the corpses of hundreds of yharnamies and yahar'gul citizens. Am attempt by the church to create a great one. A fucked up experiment. It is also a reference to Demon's Souls' Tower Knight, this is cool, and I don't think there are many other direct references to earlier bosses in the souls series (aside from dark souls 3, although they are obvious callbacks considering ds1 has the same world as ds3). Other bosses such as orphan of Kos, the clearest example of the many wrongdoings of the church. a ball of rage left behind to fester and rot in the wake of the church's experiments.

The world building is also great in Bloodborne. The yharnamites that perceive you as a beast, because prior to being infected, they were the ones killing and burning the beasts. Finding the amygdalae scattered across the rooftops, the games shift from gothic Victorian horror to straight up lovecraftian cosmic horror is done so so well.

The fashion - armour is mostly for looks, so you are free to glamorise your hunter as you see fit.

The vilebloods being a clear parallel to black people, lgbt people etc. they were persecuted by the church, who claim they threaten the "purity of the church", and were thus slaughtered based on purely prejudice.

The fact that you are much more involved in the story. Whereas in other games you walk through a bleak and post apocalyptic world, where everything has already happened, in Bloodborne the story is much more responsive to the players actions. The moon phase changes as you progress, the amygdala becomes visible after you kill Rom and break the filter over the world, and unleash the blood moon. The workshop burns after you kill the wet nurse. The cathedral ward becomes much more empty after you either kill Amelia or Rom. This is more subjective, but I personally prefer this.

The lore is also fantastic, I'm sure the lore of the other games is also great but I just love the story of Bloodborne. The greed of the church, the reckless experimentation of godhood. The whole concept of the beast plague is cool.
