all of them <3 uhh real answer is i really love the omake where they're going around asking for advice about how to help akutagawa deal with his stress in a healthy way now that he can't kill people

idea for a story:

sometimes i think about a tachigin bodyswap au.. post-doa arc so gin has to deal with tachi's limited vision while tachi is suddenly faced with the brunt of gin's body dysphoria. gin hates hearing their voice but tachi doesn't actually mind it and he won't shut up. gin doesn't mind talking either now though bc their voice just sounds like tachihara's. and they don't actually mind being in his body either. but also having to watch their body from the outside is weird and awful. they have to call akutagawa to pick them up and take them to the agency so dazai can switch them back. akutagawa seems to hate the switch even more than gin and tachihara do.

unpopular opinion:

they're the best character in bsd.

favorite relationship:

any flavor of tachigin and also the akutagawa siblings!!! i want to see more of them in canon asagiri please also i'm kind of really intrigued by their dynamic with dazai,, like we don't really see much interaction between them in canon but i like how i picture their dynamic in my mind bc gin has a lot of complicated feelings towards him and i'm not sure dazai really even realizes that, or at least he doesn't realize the full extent of it

idea for a story:

i think i told you about this but a kunichuu 5+1 that's just chuuya not being able to shut up about kunikida when talking to literally everyone at the port mafia. they're spending a half hour talking about kuni during an executive meeting and they aren't even dating him yet. how is this somehow worse than teenage dazai and chuuya, mori wonders. at least it isn't dazai, kouyou argues, blissfully unaware that dazai will end up being part of the relationship too.

unpopular opinion:

i don't like transmasc chuuya. it won't turn me off a fic completely but chuuya is one of those characters like cherry and zuko who gets softened and uwu-ified and oftentimes, this is just made even worse when they're written as trans. which is. a problem across fandoms in general obviously since cherry and zuko get the same treatment. also this shouldn't be unpopular but chuuya didn't spend like eight months crying himself to sleep after dazai left. hello??? do you even hear yourself??? i'm not a big fan of femchuuya either and in fact like that less than femdazai. nor am i particularly into ada chuuya, mostly because people soften their character way too much when they write ada chuuya. i want my chuuya still recognizable as chuuya!!! alas most people can't even get chuuya's characterization right regardless of any au or gender headcanons. anyway i'm sure i have a bunch more but i'll stop here

idea for a story:

once a very long time ago (in high school) i started writing an arospec ezekiel fic. i didn't get very far and i'm sure whatever i had written was bad but it was such a good idea

Three ships:

Manfred Bloor and Asa Pike from Children of the Red King - my ultimate codependent boy-and-his-dog besties who don’t even like each other. I’d say I’m too weird about this relationship between teens from a middle grade series I read as a kid but like. Canon is ALSO very weird about them so it is my right to have never gotten over them.

Yuzuru Tanigami and Shuumei Satogiri from Crossplay Love: Otaku x Punk - they finally made me admit that I am more of a friends-to-lovers than enemies-to-lovers person, it’s just that I like when the friendship involves a lot of Being Weird About Each Other, and also lying.

Jenkins + Cassandra Cillian + Ezekiel Jones + Jacob Stone from The Librarians - I love all their individual dynamics and they build together so well as the four of them. The series structure is also so fun to play with and leads to so many fun ways for the “when” of it all.

Currently reading: Just started The Hemingses of Monticello by Annette Gordon-Reed as my audiobook, I’ll be starting The Disabled Tyrant’s Beloved Pet Fish by Xue Shan Fei Hu soon, and I follow a few dozen manga series (yesterday I passed 300 books read this year, sorta hoping I hit 600 now!)

The thing about Ezekiel Jones is that there a couple obvious directions you can go with the cynical, vocally-selfish-yet-charming rogue of the party.

You can make his detachment and cynicism purely the product of circumstances and reveal there’s a deathlessly loyal romantic very slightly under the surface, even if he didn’t believe it himself. This is the Han Solo and Eugene Fitzherbert route.

You can also have him actively yearning for love/connection/trust/worth, but perpetually doomed by his Criminal Inclinations to break every chance he’s given and/or be forever distrusted by the people he’s attached himself to. This is the angstier if more self-aware route, popular with Neal Caffrey and probably others I’m forgetting.

...But Ezekiel took all of that “cocky self-seeking thief who sticks around anyway” setup and somehow effortlessly dodged both these routes, because I guess he’s too awesome for angst or something. Because Ezekiel’s code is, apparently, “do what makes me happy,” like many rogues... but he’s willing to actually see what makes him happy, so it mostly works. Doing good things makes him happy! Being the hero makes him happy! Being around his friends makes him happy! So he’ll do that!

Now, the thing most rogues do see is that all of these sources of happiness will involve suffering at some point, so Type 1 has to be convinced that it’s worth it and Type 2 often fails to hold on to said happiness because they can’t face the downsides. Ezekiel... I think honestly believes that he can dodge any negative consequences, if he really wants to. Which means he doesn’t usually try to hold himself apart from the group or their causes—he doesn’t keep one foot out the door, because he assumes if he wants to make a break for it, it won’t matter how deep in he is.

He’s an honest rogue, and usually that doesn’t work—or it only works because they’re very deluded about their own attachments. But Ezekiel is only deluded (if it even counts as a delusion, considering his archetype powers) about his own ability to avoid negative consequences for his decisions. He’s remarkably clear-eyed about the decisions themselves!

But ALSO this means he’s sincere when he says he’s flat-out unwilling to do anything that's Not Fun. Usually when rogues say that it’s at least a little bit of a pose, but Ezekiel is just being up-front about it. Again, he will do things he doesn’t feel like doing if he’s pushed hard enough, but outside of “actively being forced” he usually feels no obligation to do anything he doesn’t feel like doing. This is why he avoids responsibilities and obligations—they are often Not Fun in themselves, but they also sign you for more not-fun things down the road! Ezekiel wants perpetual opt-out power in everything, even if he doesn’t often use it (because usually there is an immediately obvious purpose to whatever he’s being asked to do).

He wants to be a hero, because who wouldn’t, but he specifically wants to be the Rule-Breaking Maverick who can do whatever he wants because there’s an Actual Authority Figure behind a desk somewhere who will deal with everything else.

...All of which is why “And the Point of Salvation” was such a good device for breaking him. Because he COULD NOT GET OUT. And he couldn’t hand off the responsibility for the team AT ALL.

Prompt Month Day 22: Pirates and Mermaids AU

Fun little fact about me, supposedly I’m a descendant of French pirate Jean Lafitte via my mother’s side (but probably not a direct descendant, we’re likely from his older brother). Anyway, forgive me for historical inaccuracies, this was too cool a prompt for me to pass up despite being totally unqualified to write this fic. Rated G. (ALSO GREAT NEWS GUYS I THINK I LEARNED HOW TO DO A “READ MORE” BUTTON)

Eve Baird had been on the seas for far longer than she ever thought she’d be.

She thought she’d spend a few years as a mercenary, wait until she had loot enough saved up to live comfortably on, then get herself a small ship and find an island to call her own where she could spend the rest of her days relaxing.

Somewhere along the way plans changed, battles were fought, and Captain Baird became one of the most feared pirates in the west. Her reputation preceded her; intelligent, independent, and (surprisingly, considering her job title) moral. Her crew was loyal and trusted her with their lives, and in turn she made sure they’d get home, which was where they were headed now. They’d just gotten through a skirmish not too far off the coast, and Eve thought they should unload some of their treasures before setting off again—she was worried about her ship La Bibliothèque being overloaded, judging by how slow they seemed to move during that fight.

Now, as they pulled into port, she was trying to determine her next move. She had a number of ornate vases, and while she could leave them in a small secured villa she had in town for storage, she figured she might as well sell them now.

They pulled in and docked, and while the rest of the crew was going to stock up on food and ammunition, Eve and her two first mates Jacob and Ezekiel set off for the appraisers with a crate full of their latest treasures. Jenkins and his assistant Flynn knew more about rarities than anyone else on the mainland—and, more importantly, they didn’t ask too many questions.

Jenkins looked up from studying an old parchment as the trio entered. From the back of the room, they heard a crash as Flynn dropped something undoubtedly irreplaceable. Jenkins sighed. “Captain Baird. Been a while—how have the seas been?”

Eve smiled. “Same as always. Just making a quick stop, we’re already two days late for making it to the next island north of us.”

“Ah, yes. And what do we have here, Sirs Stone and Jones?”

Jacob and Ezekiel pried open the crate, and Jenkins set to work examining the vases. Eve took the time to peek at the paper he had been studying. Her brow immediately furrowed. “Jenkins, quick question.”

“Hm?”

“How much for this map?”

“You really ain’t tellin’ us why you were so desperate for that old map?”

“Nope.”

“And you’re not letting us come with you to follow it?”

“Nope. This one’s all mine, fellas.” In truth, she didn’t know why she was so drawn to the map. They’d been to the tiny, abandoned Annex Island plenty of times, and she was certain that there was no treasure to be found there. But the map called to her in the same way the water did, and she trusted her gut.

Still, she suspected that she’d leave empty-handed, and she didn’t want to disappoint her crew. So she’d persuaded Jenkins to let her borrow his boat, promising she’d return it intact. She’d set off in the morning and, hopefully, return that night.

She’d forgotten how tiring it was sailing alone. As annoying as they often were, she missed the constant bantering between Jacob and Ezekiel. And they kept her awake; thoughts of the map had plagued her sleep, and her eyelids felt heavy. She yawned. She’d been on the ocean for a while, she’d make landfall soon. Soon…

Eve let out a yell as she came in contact with the water. It was the Gulf, it was warm, but it had given her shock. She’d fallen asleep—and fallen overboard. Eve was awake now. She summoned her strength and started swimming towards the boat. But the wind was picking up, and the sky was starting to darken.

Now she really missed her first mates. The water was thrashing her more than it should have been, and Eve was ashamed to realize it had been too long since she’d last swam.

She was beginning to struggle to keep her head above water. There was no hope of catching up to the boat. The map had likely ended up in the sea with her; it too was a lost cause now. In the distance, Eve thought she could make out a shore, and she prayed it was Annex Island and not some unmarked isle. If she could just make it to the sand…

The storm had begun. Eve was strong, but she was scared now. Lightning struck the waves in front of her, and she was horribly aware that she was sinking—quickly.

Then, suddenly, she wasn’t.

But she was underwater still. She opened her eyes. A pair of the bluest eyes she’d ever seen was staring back at her, belonging to a woman with the most radiant red locks and palest skin, and… a shimmering, scaly pink tail where her legs should have begun. Eve knew now that this was no woman.

The mermaid took Eve’s hands and effortlessly pulled her back up to air. Eve gasped as they surfaced. The sky was still dark, but the storm was over. She felt herself being carried towards the shore she’d made out.

Upon reaching the sand, exhaustion and amazement took over, and Eve passed out. As she faded, she felt a soft kiss being placed upon her lips.

Eve awoke some time later after dreaming of the sea—and the mermaid that had surely saved her life. It must have been the next morning; the sky was bright and clear, and her clothing was entirely dry. As she sat up, she noticed something peeking out of the sand next to her.

The map. She grabbed it and unfurled the paper. Her eyes widened. East of Annex Island was a previously unindicated (and quite possibly unexplored) atoll, marked with a red X.

And a scrolling signature at the bottom of the map that read Cassandra.

Eve’s crew showed up not long after, led by Jacob. He and Ezekiel helped their captain board her beloved La Bibliothèque, explaining that when she hadn’t returned that night, they’d gone back to Jenkins and asked to know where the map had led.

“But… really, Captain? Annex Island? There’s nothing here. Unless you found something?”

Eve smiled. “Nope. Nothing here. But I’ve been thinking… perhaps we should skip our next stop in the north. I’m thinking we head east…”

The character I’m most like honestly probably megumi. it's about the hiding your emotions from everyone and also creating your own moral code based on what you think is right rather than what the people around you say you should believe

Favorite pairing um. uhhhhhhhhhhhh well. hm. see. satosugu makes me go stupid go crazy every day. but also i whenever i see nobamaki i almost lose my entire mind. but also itafushi makes me wanna rip my heart out (affectionate). i don't think i can pick just one.

Least favorite pairing anything with big age gaps. anyone with sukuna. anyone with t0ji bc he doesn't deserve to be happy in any capacity and i would never want to sentence anyone to being in a relationship with him.

Favorite moment uhh so far overall it's from ch 0.4 but i don't want to spoil anything specific so. from the anime, i'd say probably maki's backstory. i just love her 🥺

Rating out of 10 8/10. it makes me lose my mind every day but also can we please stop hurting the characters? they've been through enough let me wrap them in warm blankets and make them hot chocolate and kiss their foreheads and stop anything bad from happening to them ever again

okay first of all. thank you so much for asking me about them bc i love them and i miss them and we deserved another season and i'm still salty tnt cancelled the show when it was literally one of their top viewed shows just bc it didn't fit with their ~aesthetic~ but anyways

"eh" "do you trust me?" "i trust you the most" conversation. AND also the airport fight between eve and flynn is top tier

Rating out of 10 10/10. i don't give many shows perfect ratings but this one? absolutely deserves it. truly my favorite show of all time.

Writing Meme

So, I’m very BELATEDLY responding to a tag from @heddagab, which basically is: List the opening line of your last ten (published or updated) stories. I’m gonna cheat a little and do the first opening paragraph(s) for context purposes.

I took a significant break from writing for a while and have not published anything for roughly...I want to say almost a year. But I figure I can use this as an excuse to show my followers what I’m up to and if anyone is interested in reading any of the completed fics: tell me and I’ll put them up on my ff.net account or my ao3. So what follows is excerpts from 10 of my recently written, UNPUBLISHED pieces.

1. “I feel like cookies.”

While it was far from the most unusual announcement that had fallen from Ezekiel Jones’ lips, the timing was enough to make Cassandra Cillian blink in surprise and then twist around in his arms so she could face him.

2. He could feel the frustration pulsing off of his wife in waves before she flopped onto the couch next to him.             

Without saying a word, Caliban slid closer to Vanessa and immediately drew her against his strong form, managing to continue reading his book even as he pressed a soft kiss to her forehead and she twisted in order to snuggle properly against his chest. “Rough day?”

3. “What were you thinking, Garcia Flynn?” Lucy Preston gripped her partner’s hand more tightly as they jogged through The RMS Titanic’s long corridors, managing to pull him along at remarkable speed considering his 6’4”, well-built frame and her much smaller stature.           

 “That’s your first mistake: assuming I was thinking.” She didn’t need to glance over her shoulder to picture the smirk on Flynn’s face, nor imagine how the expression made his hazel-gray eyes sparkle with amusement – no sir, she wasn’t even remotely contemplating how attractive he looked in the tuxedo he’d donned for the formal dinner in first class.

4. The Gala was back in full swing, and despite his missteps earlier, Discord felt a sense of relief now that it appeared that Fluttershy was no longer upset at him.             

He contemplated asking the lovely mare standing beside him to dance, but when she met his eyes before he posed the question, he was struck instead with a sudden desire to make things up to her properly.

5. “So, what’s the deal with you and the sexy detective anyway?”            

Caitlin nearly spit out her coffee at Killer Frost’s entirely random remark – in her own mind it might have been. “Um…what?” she answered out-loud, and then rapidly glanced around her office to ensure that no-one else had wandered in and heard her. Relief coursed through her when she realized they were alone and she hastily rushed to shut the door so they could talk candidly. “You need to give me a warning if you’re just gonna blurt something like that at me, you know?”

6. Ralph Dibny had been involved with Caitlin Snow long enough to tell when there was something on her mind.             

Exactly what that something was he couldn’t place a finger on. Yet. And sadly it would have to be discussed after they answered Iris’s distress call.

7. Ralph Dibny couldn’t help but marvel at Caitlin Snow. Here they were, in what was arguably the most unforgiving climate in the world, even indoors, and she seemed barely phased by it.             

He envied her ability to deal with the chill in the air, even after Frost had briefly emerged in order to seal a hole in the ceiling.

8. Daenerys Targaryen was not a woman to falter at the scent of blood. Not after all she had been through since being thrust into the battle for the Iron Throne.             

But this was different. It was Jorah’s blood. It was the blood of the most noble, loyal, and beloved of her council, and currently: it was seeping into the fabric of her gown.

9. Sansa Stark glanced up from her fourth lemon cake – Dany seemed to have devoured at least six or seven by this point— right as Sandor Clegane happened to walk into the kitchen.             

Her heart gave a tell-tale flutter: a reminder that even with how much she had been through, she was still a woman with desires.

10. The sun had begun to dip below the horizon, washing the sky in hues of red and orange.             

Jorah Mormont was uncertain just how long he and his Queen, Daenerys Targaryen, had been walking, arm-in-arm, along the shores below Dragonstone. It was easy to lose track of time when they were together, and after such a long separation, there had been much to talk about.
