out of the big 4 het/canon fairy tail pairings jerza is by Far the worst imo like. he needs to leave her alone i'm so serious and the fact that mashima wrote in a 7 year age gap for no reason is Not helping... erzas ass is NINETEEN the first time jellal makes an open pass at her i don't care that they used to be the same age it is fucking weird. gruvia is a close second though because while yes we objectify men here sir and i live to serve women juvia's creepiness is really just too much like at a certain point it starts to feel really gross and the fact that gray seems to fall for her by the end of the anime/manga just reeks of coercion. not even bringing up how genuinely awful juvia's character writing is she gets like 5 minutes of being interesting before getting instantly reduced to a creepy stan who completely revolves around gray and has less depth than the average bossfight of the week. i guess its equality that erza and mirajane are some of the best characters in this story (which is admittedly a low bar considering half of their personality is being subjected to the most voyeuristic shots possible) so mashima had to balance it out by making juvia one of the worst

I think all of the main female Shonen leads for the most part are well defined characters that also corresponding with the core themes of their own series

And it makes me sad to see people downgrade them to "only existing to be a love interest" "Never do anything in the plot" and "claiming that creators of said series are misogynist as result"

Which is either surface level at best and blatantly disingenuous at worst

Whether that be Sakura aiding in the Defeat of Kaguya the literal God of Chakra,Lucy Heartfilia who used the magic of everyone in fiore to use the Fairy Sphere technique to contain the likes of Acnologia the Dragon King,Orihime was shown to be powerful enough to defend against cosmic threats like Yhwach and Nami not only stole Big Mom's servant Zeus but also striked her down with it's power

Then we have other instances like Maka going toe to toe with the Embodiment of Fear itself asura and in the anime version killed him not with her strength but destroying his ideological temple with her one. Ochako gave shinsou a second chance at being a hero despite the nature of his quirk not fitting the mold of being a hero.Raphtalia from Rising of the shield hero has Fought for over 10+ Hours defending entire villages from swarms of monsters, cut down her slave owner while simultaneously saving those were under his control, and in the web novels became a literal God and Aided in the Defeat of Medea who was threat to the wide scale multiverse. Noelle single Handledly took down Megica on her own

I'm honestly getting sick of the "But this insert female gets saved by a man so that's bad" arguments cuz it sets the standard that females shouldn't also be Rescued in a similar manner to how a male character gets saved by a female.

Like I understand the argument if the female character always needs to be saved and has no agency, then yeah that's definitely a problem. BUT most shonen females have shown high amounts of agency throughout the courses of their stories

Lucy might have been saved by natsu a couple of times but she has also returned the favor for not just him but the entire guild

Mixing around backstories for AUs is soooo satisfying when it clicks together easily. All of my redhead jokes at their expense in htryds led to this; they finally get sibling rights, as they deserve.

He'd never heard D string that many profane words together in a single sentence before. The Dragon KNEW his habit of dropping profanity like nothing could rub off on people but he'd never said so many in a single sentence. Had he?

It WAS possible but he tended to reign himself in around certain people because he knew they weren't particularly fond of profanity. He'd snort before looking at the fucker the other male was referring to. Truthfully, he thought a nice solid PUNCH to the fucker's jaw would help shut him up but he didn't want to get kicked out.

"He's pretty fuckin' gross and annoyin' ain't he?"

He'd seen the guy leering at various patrons in the bar. He couldn't remember the exact reason why he and the other had opted to stop in the bar in the first place but that was fine. He could see the creep making the bartender uncomfortable so he'd merely flash a wife grin before downing the last of his spiced whiskey before placing Jewel on the counter. The Dragon would then walk over to the creep, yank him up by the back of his shirt, drag him kicking and clawing to the doors, then promptly throw him into the nearest trash can.

He'd make his way back to D, then sit back down at the bar, finding his glass had been refilled.
