anon i'm afraid i'm unfamiliar with like, 70% of these. so i can't "rate" them other than based on their looks. instead of a scale of 1 to 10 you're getting my thoughts on their designs as i am notoriously bad at Ranking Things. and some babbling overall. enjoy

starting off with Bayonetta angels. Holy shit. the range.... monster-looking ones? humanoids? ships??? cars????? the flesh inside those gold and marble shells??? love them, quite horrifying and majestic at once.

Evangelion! cool stuff. always love some strange organic shapes for angels, and the very geometric ones are pretty interesting as well

Diablo. i like the tendril-like wings. the lack of a visible face is pretty cool as well..

i'm not really sure what "Classic Bible Accurate Angels" would entail. if you're pedantic enough, you can argue that the cherubim and ophanim in Ezekiel's vision aren't exactly "angels" in the literal sense of the word. malakim/messengers/angels could appear as pretty much human. either way, the celestial being category is quite fascinating

my jaw dropped when i saw the Angelarium website. the designs?? the drawings themselves???? the writing as well. obsessed with this???? hello....... Definitely quite majestic

ULTRAKILL! yay! Gabriel and the Council's armor are pretty cool, and i like the virtues too (their concept art is so good!!!). hope we get to see more angels in the future.

ahhhhg they're both so cool. love how Death is a sphynx. i can't tell if they're exactly supposed to be angels (saw the Woodsprite called a "fairy" somewhere?), but the motifs are so good regardless

Dark Souls. ojh wow. i think these are the most disturbing on this list, i love them. taking organic shapes to another level.... they remind me of mycelia.... huge win for horrifying angel nation

i wasn't really sure what to focus on with Shin Megami Tensei. the angel enemy itself (poor thing went through a lot, design wise)? the divine demon class as a whole (a... lot of characters to look at)? so i went with the archangels. their SMT IV versions are great, the ornate and quite organic-looking shapes put them on the majestic end of the spectrum for me

However I come bearing a pretty good swap, thanks to you who suggested this (I think from one of my asks). Low-key I HATE drawing Vil, but I really wanted to see if Jam's corn row and ponytail duo would look good on him, and imo I think it's nice. Really weird, but hey, there's not many characters that would look natural with this style. Also since there's already so much going on with the hair, I snatched Vil's crown privileges.

1. What Disney character do you think most inspired each character in your rewrite?

I remember doing this one post as a little fun game for everyone to share 3 characters that inspired their main characters. But since you asked for just one and it has to be a Disney character, guess I’ll do that.

(I don’t have a solid personality for the 7 teens since they’re not going to have as big of a role. I do have their key traits in my notes so I can look back to it as a guide. But I’m just going to go with the flow when writing their scenes.)

2. More Rani Loreeeeee

I haven’t even finished a final outline for the main plot of the RFTS!story, so idk even for a sequel. Maybe I’ll do some random drawings of family bonding moments and just him being a precious little guy.

(Hypothetically speaking, IF both Asha and Sueño survive the tragedy I’ll inflict on them. I mean what- who said that?)

All I know for Rani is that he’s someone who’s not sure what is the one thing he’s passionate for. And in this kingdom where everyone is so sure what they want and striving to achieve it, he feels lost. Surely, people only have one passion, right? Why can’t he find and settle for one?

Whenever he finds something he could be passionate about, Rani feels icky at the thought of just permanently sticking to it from now on. But at the same time, he criticises himself for being ‘irresponsible and indecisive.’

He “longs” to know his place and know what he wishes to do exactly. Rani doesn’t like being told, “But you’re so talented!!” because he personally thinks it’s unhelpful. It doesn’t make his choice of picking one passion any easier.

He also doesn’t really like vague answers to his questions and gets frustrated with it. “Believe in yourself.” “You’ll get there.” “Keep going!” “You’ll know it when you feel it.” “I don’t know what you’re aspiring to do, but I bet you’ll do great.” Well guess what? He doesn’t know what he’s doing either. :D

Also: *G A S P*. Not a strong believer of Wishing stars nor looking to the sky for answers! 😱 Rani prefers to “see-it-to-believe-it.” A more down to earth person who wants real solutions, not just hoping for something to magically happen.

Ehhhhh, I’ll say he has general knowledge in magic and just about anything he finds interesting and gets his hands on. Not really star magic, though he has the skill of a fast-learner when learning about regular magic. Again, Rani’s existence may or may not be hypothetical. 🤷

4. Does Hopes & Dreams have any other pet names for each other?

Sueño is not really one for pet names since he adores Asha just as she is, including her name. But in his head and through the sign language he eventually learns, he does sometimes call her: “Love or My Sky”

(I love “My Sky” so much because it FITS him. He loves the feeling of freedom and is claustrophobic. So he’s basically saying he feels so free and happy to be around her. Also, *coughs* Bo. “Sky”. My Sky. “Cielo”. Amirite? This was unintentional, I swear-)

For Asha, she calls Sueño: “Starlight, Mi Sueño (this is her fav one ofc), Sunny (though this is more general), Hon/Honey.”

For the last one, I have a silly headcanon that Sueño comes to have honey as one of his fav foods. It sort of rhymes with his other nickname, “Sunny,” and Asha thinks it’s hilarious to tease him with the “honey” nickname when he gets all sticky.

Idk why I even came up with this, but the thought that he’ll eat anything, even food he usually doesn’t like, that is dipped in honey on it is just funny, okay? And it connects to Hal too since I remember she’s meant to be a beekeeper. (This may also be a cute little reference with Winnie the Pooh if Sueño shapeshifts. Hehehe)

Btw, stars can taste but not go hungry. Like how they touch and feel stuff but not feel pain when inflicted or hit by something. If it’s dark magic, then that’s the only exception and they can feel pain.

Idk actually. I made Amnifico or ‘Grand Despair’ from scratch without referring or getting inspired by any couple I know. It’s mostly songs and vibes I’ve collected to create their dynamic. Same with Ashueño. The Rapunzel similarity was not intentional. 😅

(I think you should be worried because my RFTS!Spotify playlist has lots of angst- lol.)

Uhhhhhhh, maybe Grand Despair can be something akin to Charity and P.T Barnum from the Greatest Showman. But darker and eviler.

“Soulmates/Fate” (I think we can all agree that these two are meant to be, either platonically or romantically, in any universe both AU and Canon.)

8. Are the other characters’ wishes important to the story?

Hmmmmm. I guess they influence the narrative and further establish the conflict of the story.

Like, the characters are used to just taking the easy way to achieve their dreams by waiting for the day Magnifico grants them one morning. They can make as much as they want. Unbeknownst to them, they’re stuck in this cycle of always wanting more but never satisfied.

They keep wishing and wishing, believing that they have no chance of reaching it on their own without their king’s help.

I’d like the main theme to be: not being afraid to dream big and “Reach for the Stars” but you shouldn’t expect grand things to just come to you instantly. You’ll need to take faith and work for it. Why? Because the whole journey getting there, regardless of the many struggles, is worth it and it sure is something to look back and be proud of.

It sure is what Walt Disney did, isn’t it? :)

9. What Hazbin character is each RFTS!character like?

It’s kind of difficult to pick from the Hazbin cast what each RFTS!character is like since one plot is based off of dreams and everything nice while the other is literally based in hell. 😂

But I’ll try:

Asha:

Emily was the closest I could think of. (Since I literally couldn’t think of anyone else. Oof-) Not really referring to the happy, excited part of her. More like the “I believe these people deserve a lot better than this” and eventually finding her voice to stand up against authority for the people she cares about.

Sueño:

No, not the aggressive and assertive side of Vaggie. Lol nope. More like getting attached to the MC that helped them get back onto their feet, warmly welcomed them in this strange new world, and now they would do anything to help them get their dreams come true whatever it takes.

(Also, a secret they’re keeping that’s eating them up inside with guilt and constantly worrying that the MC would hate their guts if they knew. Oops-)

Magnifico:

I’d say the fake-ass showmanship he puts out in public but in reality, he’s really done and exhausted with his audience. He’s still pretty charismatic when he wants to be but I can see him losing his cool quite easily, leading to outbursts.

Amaya:

Idkkkk. The main cast of Hazbin don’t really fit RFTS!Amaya’s vibe so I just went with Lilith despite how we know nothing about her at the moment. (This is probs gonna age badly-)

She’s a parental figure to someone who trusts her a lot but in reality, her motivations might not be what they seem. She could be willing to sacrifice other people if it means she gets a benefit out of them.

Wow, thank you. I never thought anyone would actually like to know that. So I put together a small explanation about my "concept of Dragons" XD

The idea for my concept of “immortal dragons” grew over time and somehow stems from a quote from Goethe’s "Faust. Der Tragödie erster Teil" …

Ich bin ein Teil des Teils, der Anfangs alles war, Ein Teil der Finsternis, die sich das Licht gebar, […]

I am not sure if there is an English translation to Faust… there should be, but I can’t find one online right now… the quote would roughly translate to

I am a piece of the part that was everything in the beginning, A piece of the darkness that gave birth to the light […]

That sums up what “dragons” are in my story (that is not really a story and more a concept in my head for my characters). Dragons are energy, corporeal energy. It’s alive and sentient and has been since… forever. And these beings adapted to their surroundings, taking on various forms. And since they are energy come to life they are … eternal. They were not always sentient in the sense like humans, before they were drifting specters observing their surroundings. Some took the roles of spirits... fairies... beings that are but also aren't.

But as sentient beings they are also aware of everything. There used to be many of the dragons in times long gone. But Alani and Callan are the last ones remaining. Because they were aware of so much most suffered from loneliness and helplessness. The things they cherished were always dying. And the Dragons were very passionate beings. When they loved, they loved with all their being. And constant loss took their toll on them. Dragons can’t die… not in the sense of mortality. They can enter a different plane of existence and return their energy to the universe so to speak. Then they still "are" but they are no longer sentient. As beings of energy they can feel the presence of other dragons in their corporal form because it's like a black hole... so very dense they can feel it, so they know they are the last ones. Alani stayed because she is ever curious and desires to live and feel and experience everything, despite her endless losses. Callan - as her brother/companion - remained with her because the thought of leaving her alone tormented him. He managed to never get too attached to individuals - more to places which he misses, too. The two are very close, but they go decades or centuries without meeting each other, but they “feel” each other still (beings of energy and such) and know they are aware of each other.

Dragons also have the power to change their appearance - drawing energy from their surroundings and the universe… so, yes… in the past there were dragons who looked like dragons as you know them. Scaly creatures, winged demons, ethereal beings… they can be all. But shapeshifting is painful - it’s not just snapping a finger and poof, scaly dragon form. It’s a slow process, regrowing and changing bone structure and such. That’s why Alani and Callan have settled for a look they hardly ever change. Small adjustments are regularly made - appearing older or younger to stay in an area for a few years more without drawing attention.

It is possible to “create” new dragons. It’s all about collecting energy and compressing it. It’s hardly ever done … Alani and Callan did it just once, when Alani got married and her husband (Xiang) learned of their secret and was offered immortality.

They can also use “magic”…. which is essentially just a manipulation of the energy of the matter around them. But who cares for the specifics if one can make stuff fly around.

So… yes. That’s the idea. As long as there is energy and matter there can be dragons. And dragons are just powerful beings... so yeah...

That drawing of the specialist as faries, that had Sky and Helia with hearts and Timmy with electricity and Brandon with stars got me thinking

You know how in s6, Bloomix happens? Those drawing made me imagine the girls sharing their powers with their boyfriends to make them faries! Or witches, depending on their magical inclinations, and what I personally think is cooler XD

So Sky would get fire and dragon powers, Brandon stellar powers, Helia plant powers, Timmy electronic powers, Riven sound powers, and Nabu is already a fairy so he doesn't get any :)

Nabu is their chaperone. Magical tutor, if you will. Baby sitter so they don't blow themselves up one might say

(I know Helia already has magic but shhhh Helia and Flora are form different planets so it get to mix them >:D more fun like this)

I think it would be interesting if this mixed with their own natural magic from their planets. So Eraklyon has the core of gravity, Timmy's planet has the core of metal, Helia's planet has the core of law/order or something similar (Saladin canonically has justice powers so it has to be something that can produce a magic user of Justice), and Riven's planet....I haven't actually decided yet. I'll just do a couple for him then :) for variety

Sky:

Fire + Gravity = Fairy of Plasma

Stars, which is essentially space fire, are made of plasma that's held together by gravity sooo it fits me thinks. I didn't want to make him the fairy of Stars XD

Dragon + Gravity = Fairy of Honor

A lot of Bloom's dragon powers are more....symbolic effects so I leaned into that. Valor with more gravity applied to the concept would be honor I think? Because valor is only having honor, courage, ect in battle, so if the term has more weight, you'd be like that all the time, therefore honor...be nice, I'm trying my best over here. It's all very symbolic, and I think it matches Sky's good boy enegry perfectly bc it would force him to act with in the confines he seems to always act within. I think his powers would be like summoning weapons to battle with, being able to send sword beams, the Sirenix punching and kicking, and more importantly being able to force people into fair fights by using his magic to make people honorable. I think it would be majorly dope

Brandon:

Sun + Gravity = Fairy of Blackholes

What do you get when you take a star and add a fuck ton of gravity?? You get blackholes! Damn Brandon, who said you got to be so powerful? Me, I did. He and Stella can have a little darkness and light thing going on, it's cute okay?? He'd also be able to teleport like Stella!! And there'd be some time manipulation powers there too!! Very powerful skill set

Moon + Gravity = Fairy of Orbits

I think this would be an actually really fucking dope power. It would be like free redirection of any attack. I don't think it would be possible to attack or defend directly, which is why it would be so cool to watch/write because you'd really have to think about it. Very dope, I love

Sun + Moon + Gravity = Fairy of Tides

Yeah the sun and the moons gravitational pull on earth really only seems to both do one thing, control the tides. Brandon has Aisha's Nick dub powers now lol

Helia:

Nature + Justice = Witch of Comeuppance/Karma

This is just for if Helia inherented Saladin's magic, cuz Saladin is the only living and magical relative of Helia we see so I wanted to just entertain the idea, but this wouldn't be Helia's powers

I'm thinking his powers would work like Jinx form teen titans, basically instilling bad luck on people or pulling a sans during the Geno run (his magic only hurts as much as the person he's attacking has hurt others). His attacks would be pretty boring looking as they'd just look like pure magic but I imagine he mostly uses his powers to make people fall out of chairs, make vending machines give out multiple cans of soda, help cats get out of trees, banal luck based stuff

Nature + Law = Witch of Natural Laws

Wow that's such a basic name form the combination nooo T-T but Helia would have magic of Gravitation, Electromagnetism, Strong Interactions, and Weak Interactions. He wouldn't be able to control them. Like Samara is the fairy of Gravity and she can make gravity happen from anywhere, in any direction, however powerful she can manage. Helia can't do that, he can only strengthen and weaken already present gravitational forces. So he can pull someone to the ground, or make them float, but he can't pull them up essentially

I think Helia would have a lot of fun working with this. Helia up at 3:00 a.m. researching the four things he has power over to see if he can do any sick combos

Timmy:

Metal + Tecnomagic = Witch of Conductivity

Timmy just gets all the electrical parts of Tecna's powers but a little more niche. Not the one I would go with, but the first thing that came to mind

Metal + Tecnomagic = Witch of Electrical Currents

This is what would likely be his powers, this is dope and I imagine he knows a lot about this stuff so he'd very likely be able to pull off some dope ass spells based off of technical magic. Likely turns himself into a living taser. Buzz buzz bitch

Riven:

When I imagine Riven with magic I usually imagine him being able to create giant cracks in walls, knocking down ceiling, and stuff like that so that's the direction imma take these in

Sound + Something Solid (like earth) = Fairy/Witch of Earthquakes

This is most similar to what I usually imagine his magic to be like so I'm very partial to it. Mostly because it's primarily environmental, and that opens up a lot of cool fight scenes that rely heavily on surrounding and incorporating them into the fight :)) just very cool stuff if your into fight choreography

Sound + Anything Abrupt or Sharp = Fairy of Shockwaves

This one is the one he's more likely to have because it can actually be used in a fight XD. Shock waves are faster than soundwaves, but are required to be abrupt, so you can't have continuous shock waves. Which I think is an interesting difference and limitation. There both a type of wave so I was worried about them being too different but this supplies a whole new set of tactics. Like shock waves also don't travel as far as sounds waves (i think). So shock waves are better for close range combat, while sound waves are more suited for support. Very fun all around

Weekly Reading Update (07/24/23)

Reviews and thoughts under the cut

The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang (10/10)

This book is pretty much perfect. The plot is engaging, the characters are all amazing, the writing style hits hard, and there’s really good social commentary that touches on, honestly, almost every issue out there. Rin has got to be one of my favorite protagonists of all time; she’s the underdog, she’s easy to root for, and our desire for her to succeed almost makes us overlook her glaring flaws. Kuang establishes Rin’s overwhelming need to succeed, to win, to be the last one standing from the very beginning, and it leads to her slow but steady downfall as she must decide how far she is willing to go for the sake of her nation. Rin’s time in Sinegard is an interesting and unique twist on the fantasy school setting, and the tone switch between the time at Sinegard and the time at war is done masterfully. Even the war takes an incredibly dark turn, goes farther than the reader would ever expect, as Kuang draws from real history to write horrors that should’ve been beyond anyone’s imagination. Perhaps the most technically amazing part of this book is that even when she has fallen so far, part of us agrees with Rin; which is the danger of it all, isn’t it?

Neverseen by Shannon Messenger (8/10)

I have now officially reread all of the KotLC books I got through previously. Going into Lodestar will be uncharted territory for me, and wow am I glad I refreshed my memory. I forgot a lot of stuff, so it was almost like I was reading it for the first time. Like I predicted, this was a slower one, mostly filled with finding out more about the Black Swan and the Council, and there was a lot of Sophie and her friends wanting to do things that were "too dangerous." I won't lie, it dragged a bit, but it really picked up once Sophie started attending Exilium. I think the twins are a much-needed addition to the main cast to help shake things up and keep the dynamic from getting too worn out. Also, Calla is a particularly strong side character. While I could predict the broad strokes of the story, the actual method of getting there took me by surprise, and there's a huge twist at the end that totally restructures how the rest of the series is going to look. I'm very excited to start Lodestar!

Half Upon a Time by James Riley (8/10)

I loved this series as a kid, and rereading it was like returning home. It's actually so funny that this book has tons of tropes I love today just in a middle grade format. There's a pretty good level of intricacy to the plot, and the fairy tale elements are tons of fun. There are plenty of familiar characters that each have a unique twist to their story, often intertwining their stories with each other. For example, the Huntsman from Snow White is also the woodcutter/hunter from Little Red Riding Hood. This book also has a fun twist by being from the perspective of the character who guides someone who has fallen into another world. In most other books, May would be the main character, so having Jack tell the story subverts some expectations. The way Jack, May, and Philip interact is a little typical for the genre and time period, though I appreciate that it is heavily implied that Philip has no romantic interest in May. Finally, Jack's mysterious involvement with the Eye and his sword is one of my favorite parts of the book, and it's a pretty fresh concept.

The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent (CR, 20%)

I've barely progressed on this one, but I did make it to the end of the first trial, and I like how it was executed. Despite being a physically-based trial, there's a twist that allows Oraya to succeed through her wits, which makes infinitely more sense when she's up against vampires and demons. It also helps that Raihn is obviously gunning for an alliance with her, so he's more inclined to help her out. About the alliance, why Raihn specifically wants to team with Oraya is a pretty good one and honestly a more logical decision than I expected. However, Oraya turning him down made no sense to me. She's gonna have to team up with someone eventually, and Raihn seems like the lesser evil by far.

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor (CR, 3%)

I've only just barely started this book, but I'm excited! I'm reading it with some friends, and the beginning seems quite interesting. I'll have some more in-depth thoughts next week once I've progressed more.

Sneak Peek from Being Human | Chapter Eight: Winter's Waltz

The living room is a war zone of ribbons and wrapping paper as everyone tears into their presents, getting distracted halfway through when Camila puts on her favorite Christmas music and Luz endeavors to turn the evening into Grom Part 2, sweeping into a low bow and asking a giggling, blushing Amity to dance. Hunter is so swept up in the mayhem of watching the two of them laugh and spin one another in the glimmer of the Christmas lights, he almost doesn't register the Willow-shaped silhouette hovering next to him, offering him her hand.  "May I have this dance?" she asks, fairy lights glinting off the lenses of her glasses, igniting them in a golden glow. "Oh, uh— yeah. Yes. Absolutely," he stutters, barely a moment to stagger to his feet before he's swept away in Willow's arms.  Hunter has never danced in his entire life, but Willow is a marvelous lead, the comforting weight of her hand pressed between his shoulder blades, soft plush fingers curling over the palm of his hand, heat hotter than the flames in the fireplace as she draws him closer and instructs him to place his other hand on the small of her waist. Just when he thinks he's finally got the moves down, Willow surprises him by twirling him around in a circle and then dipping him backward on the catch, safe in her strong, gentle hands as his whole world spins upside down in a blur of green and gold.  And then she's pulling him back up toward her, lips parted in a wide smile, breathless laughter rushing out of the both of them as their chests heave from the exertion, and all Hunter can think as he gazes into her bright green eyes are three simple words. Oh. Wow. Dancing. Well. Maybe those aren't the only three words he's thinking.

It's nearing midnight by the time everyone heads off to bed, shuffling off to their respective rooms with barely stifled yawns and sleepy smiles, leaving Hunter and Willow alone in the living room, sitting side by side, curled up by the fire.  Evidently they'd both had the same idea, not wanting to give the gifts they'd gotten each other in front of everyone else. Without a word, the two of them reach behind opposite sides of the tree and withdraw two packages — one wrapped up pristinely in red and gold striped paper, the other a mess of ripped green wrapping paper and far too much tape. Ever since their lessons, Hunter has developed a love for sewing, but Willow had no idea he'd gotten this good. When Willow unwraps her gift, a neatly-folded letterman jacket with the words captain stitched across the back in bold white lettering spills out onto her lap, handmade from the coziest green and gold fabric she's ever felt beneath her fingers.  Little swatches of embroidery line the lapels and the arms of the jacket — wildflowers, bumblebees, cardinals, hearts, and stars — and in the very center right over the heart, a miniature rendering of a flyer derby field complete with goals posts and green and purple flags. Willow spreads her hands over it, amazed by all the carefully crafted details. This must have taken him weeks to complete. "This is amazing, Hunter. Thank you so much, I love—" she says, slipping the jacket over her shoulders and marveling at how perfectly it fits her, gazing up at him with a radiant smile on her face, only to find him staring back at her, looking awestruck. Clutched in his hands are two different gifts she couldn't decide between — one, a hand-knitted sweater made from that same cozy yellow yarn he'd fallen in love with the first time they'd gone to the craft store together, complete with a little breast pocket for Flapjack to nap in — and two, a brand new pair of handsome leather gloves, similar enough to his old pair to provide that same level of comfort and safety to a set of scarred, sensitive hands, but different enough so that he no longer has to be reminded of Belos, of being the golden guard every time he looks down at his own hands. "I hope you like them," she says in a small voice, suddenly feeling nervous. "The cardinals along the sides there are hand-stitched. I tried to make them look as much like Flapjack as I could, but—" "They're perfect. You're perfect," he says, rushing forward to wrap her up in a hug, tucking his chin against the curve of her shoulder and breathing her in in a series of slow, steady breaths. "Merry Christmas, Hunter," she says, voice muffled as she melts into the hug, face buried in the cozy fabric of his sweater. "Merry Christmas, Willow," he says, voice almost too soft to catch over the steady crackling of the fireplace.

This took longer than I thought it would. This is a list of all the Pokemon I've used throughout my entire Insurgence run. I tried to prioritize new forms over older Pokemon, but jesus this might just be the most I've rotated over a single game. Minus Mew- but he's our buddy so I feel like he has to be included.

Sort of a mini review under the cut- I enjoyed it, but I do feel like there's places where improvements could be made.

Insurgence feels like a classic "try-hard" edgy fan game, but in reality it hasn't been out for too long, at least since XY and ORAS though. Its a bit "3 Edgy 5 me" with all the cults and stuff, but I respect it for a very passion filled story, maps to explore (including mode7 for a soaring map, WOW, that's very cool), character customization, but probably my main draw was the Delta Pokemon- which were regional variants BEFORE regional variants came out, and are basically mutated or experimented Pokemon. Lots of creativity goes into each and every design, and the fakemon quality is immense. The designs are edgy, but I LOVE edgy designs.

The gameplay is very hard, even on easy mode, and you'll probably be doing a LOT of grinding- but its kind of rewarding when you either figure out a good strategy to beat an opponent or go through an anime training arc in a secret base with a guy with a bunch of masochistic Audino to gain some serious levels and steam roll the team that gave you trouble before.

The game has some neat options, including a difficulty level setting (mind you, again, easy is still hard but closer to a traditional Pokemon game for the most part. I played Normal until the Elite 4), and surprisingly an option to keep the story dark or to cut it back a tad. There's also character customization if you're into that- personally i liked most of the beginning options best, so I just kept my guy as is.

I have a few gripes- mainly that Delta Pokemon are so few and far between in comparison to the older Pokemon, or there's a bunch that are only available AFTER you've beaten the main game. Unlike variants, Deltas are usually one encounter captures- which don't get me wrong, most of the encounters all have some pretty great stories attached, but I would have enjoyed being able to build a team with more variety earlier on.

Still, what's here is great- In particularly I LOVE my Mega Delta Charizard and my Mega Delta Typhlosion- MDTy in particular feels like it gets a mega on top of its mega due to a form change it gets in darkness or rain. I also love all of the story rich post game content and new areas to explore, and being able to fight certain characters as well.

I know Azurite has kinda gone... Ghost? I guess? But apparently it's going to be a mostly fakemon focused followup made by a similar team. I wanna play it!

Overall a 7/10 experience.

It is so annoying that katrina now tweets stuff that has a certain meaning, hence her last 2 tweets. Even if, let's say they aren't about Sam, she definitely let's that sink in to draw attention to her and to make fans overthink/overreact. Her tweets might not even be about him but she makes it look like that, only to maybe come back in a few days saying something stupid about that like "oh wow my mom lied to me all these years about the tooth fairy"

idk if she's trying to be overly vague just to drum up attention. she's never been openly direct about who or what she's talking about. the only time, really, is in her music where you can tell who it's about. or at the very least assume.

i think the main issue is that a lot of fans, whether they will admit it or not is a different story, don't believe what her and sam told about how things ended between them. maybe it's bc it felt too sudden (but really wasn't if you were paying attention) or maybe it's bc ppl want a messy ending but i think a lot of fans don't believe them. so they are being overly observant on what both of them are saying. and since kat wants to be vague, of course fans are gonna jump immediately to thinking "oh these are all about sam" when it's most likely not.

personally, idc about kat anymore and i don't plan on paying her any mind either. and i suggest everyone else do the same if you feel the same as me. otherwise, it's basically gonna be a ms snapchat situation all over again lol

Hello my angel!! Is your question just generally, like, what goes into worldbuilding for a royal/historical type of AU?

If yes then I'd love to tell you what I know--although it's like, very little lmao. The only royal AU I've written is in cinders (and war paint kind of, since that's a tie in), and I was woefully inexperienced when I wrote both.

But for in cinders, the story focused largely on class differences, so a lot of the world building I did was to supplement that point. Basically I had two main tasks:

Establish a recognizable hierarchy

Supply some detail to emphasize that hierarchy

And I think in general, the way we observe historical periods is through things like clothes, living/working conditions, and linguistic cues--so those were the places that I chose to supply the detail.

Establishing a hierarchy

Okay so to establish our ranking system, I basically just janked existing noble titles and ranks. I found this Wikipedia article, and narrowed everything down to the European titles as those are the ones I am most familiar with--and as in cinders is a Cinderella retelling and that is a European fairy tale.

Obviously our love interest Shouto was gonna be a prince, but I made sure to weave in other ranks as well to make it clear there was a peerage system at play. Bakugou became a Marquis, Asui become a Countess, Camie became a Lady (as a daughter of a minor noble like a Baron/Viscount might be referred to) etc.

I also wanted our poor Y/N to be at the bottom of the totem pole because I am a monster, so I also looked into the hierarchies among servants. I can't find the exact resources I used but I basically googled around to find out a) what typical castle servant roles were, like in this article, and b) what that reporting structure would have looked like, as in this article.

Scullery/kitchen girls are like, the lowest ranked (RIP) so Y/N got assigned that lmao.

Supplying the deets

Now that we have our vague hierarchy established, it's time to emphasize it! Like I said, historical periods (and class distinctions therein) are usually analyzed in terms of clothes, living/working conditions, and linguistic cues, so that's where I chose to add detail.

For clothes, I mainly drew attention to Y/N's low rank by how much she admired clothes that weren't her own. When she stole Lady Camie's dress, she narrates the "luxurious thickness of Lady Utsushimi’s skirts," implying her own skirts are thinner and more barren. Y/N's own clothing is described more in terms of its state and function: "You shook your head, grasping your soot-stained skirts and glancing meaningfully at her clean chair."

Shouto's clothes draw less of that distinction but still help set the fantasy/historical context. I basically gave him a bunch of historical buzzwords like breeches and doublet to show the period: "He wore a doublet in a blue color only one shade lighter than your own gown, and the high points of his starched collar curved up towards his sharp jawline," and "You noticed he was dressed plainly, a soft linen shirt, unadorned, tucked somewhat untidily into simple breeches."

In terms of living/working conditions, I emphasized Y/N's lack of means again by recounting a lot of her job duties: peeling vegetables, scrubbing pans, sweeping out the kitchen fire places, not exactly high-class stuff. I also put her and Ochako in a supply closet that doubled as a sleeping chamber to drive it home that wow, they poor af. For her sleeping arrangements, I gave her a straw pallet so poorly constructed that straw kept poking through and stabbing her in the back.

In contrast, Shouto's living situation is described with a mind to emphasizing how large and fancy all his shit is. He has rooms plural, and a ton of things to put in them: "The prince’s chambers spread out before you, so large they could fit the kitchens three times over. You looked to be in a sitting room, peppered with low tables and couches overstuffed with bright pillows. A large, ornate writing desk sat against one corner, covered in papers. On the far wall, a series of double doors lay open, leading deeper into his apartments. You caught a glance of a four postered bed deep within, covers dripping off the sides to lay crumpled on the floor like they had been kicked off in haste."

And lastly, linguistic cues! I don't know enough about upper class vs lower class speech in historical periods and also wasn't willing to invest huge amounts of time in this, but I did want to give some nod to a historical/fantasy setting with word choices that aren't quite modern.

If you've ever heard a Shakespearean insult, it's so clear that one of the major places modern English differs from something like Elizabethan English is insults. So when Y/N insults Kamiko, instead of having her call her a cuntwaffle or whatever choice phrase we might use today, she calls her a toad. Shouto asks if Y/N's mother has been called a dog, and Y/N replies with something like, no, a swine--as apparently back in the day people liked to toss animals around as insults.

I also just jammed a bunch of old-timey sounding phrases into everyone's speech, like perhaps and a bajillion forgive mes and until tomorrows. And I think even if a lot of the other speech sounds modern, those kinds of phrases still help highlight that the setting we are in is not 21st century.

Conclusion

Anyway all of this to say, when writing a historical/fantasy/royal AU like this one, you should focus on the elements that are key to your story--what ways of life are you detailing; commoners, adventurers, soldiers, nobility etc? Then, with that in mind, research key points of period expression unique to those ways of life: clothes, speech, living conditions, and sprinkle those details throughout!

I am also still a novice writer though, and I am a notorious skimper on details, so if anyone else has better tips please feel free to jump in!! Otherwise, I hope this helped!!

Chapter two

Monochopsis

      (n.) The subtle but persistent feeling of being out of place

Alastaria sits on Blooms bed with a huff. Stella moves around (there) Blooms room in delight.

“Did you draw these?” Stella gasps.

 “Yes.” Bloom smiles.

“The one over there I drew.” Alastaria says trying to include herself in the conversation.

Bloom growls and glares at her causing Alastaria to shrink back.

“This one. Wow it amazing. It’s a beach right.” Stella questions.

Alastaria nods her head with a slight smile.

“I’m the one who gave her the idea for it. I wanted her to show more appreciation towards our parents for taking us to the beach every summer.” Bloom explains.

Stella hums at what Bloom says and looks at Alastaria’s side of the room. It was more simple. The only outstanding thing was a trophy stand and a bunch of boxes near the bed.

Stella moved over to her side and looked more closely at the trophy’s. There were lots of different ones. Archery, Full-bore target rifle shooting, Taekwondo, Jujutsu, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Ice Skating, Swimming, and many more.

One thing similar thing to all the trophies were their 1st place. “Wow you won all these?” Stella gasped. Alastaria’s nodded her head and stood from the bed.

“What’s in those?” Stella asked moving toward the boxes.

Before Alastaria could stop Stella from opening her boxes they were open.

Stella looked in and saw a unfinished painting of somebody. Stella carefully picked it up and looked it over.

“Who is this?” Stella wondered out loud.

Bloom stared dumbfounded at the painting. It was black and white with amazing detail. The only thing missing was the head of whom every Alastaria had dawn.

“I don’t know? It’s the same dream almost every night. And almost every night his face is blurred out. Right when it starts to clear up I’m suddenly awake. I don’t know it’s just been messing me up so I painted the scene.” Alastaria admits.

“I was only asking cause I recognize the uniform. It’s a specialist.” Stella explains. Alastaria tilts her head in confusion. After all this was just a dream. A personal movie her head made for her.

“Sorry I’m a bit noisy.” Stella apologized.

“Oh no, it’s okay Stella…” then Bloom paused. Even if Alastaria was a little mad Stella just opened her stuff.

“I mean no things are not okay. For instance I still don’t understand what happened in the park.” Bloom mumbled.

“Exactly what happened.” Alastaria ponders.

Bloom put a smile on her face and grabs Alastaria’s arm tightly.

“Nothing happened to you.” Bloom whispered in her ear, then pulled away with a smile.

“Oh Bloom, Alastaria you used your powers to save me. You should be proud of yourselves.” As Stella went on Alastaria felt something.

Something or someone was watching them. Alastaria looked out the window as the world tuned out. Bloom’s and Stella’s words faded into the background of a soft hum.

Alastaria felt peaceful for the first time in a while. Whatever was watching them was safe. They felt safe. The and object hit the ground and broke Alastaria out of her trance.

Alastaria whipped around and a black blast came from her hand. After it hit the huge pencil causing it to turn into a bunch of smaller ones. Alastaria gasps in shock as Stella and Bloom stare at her.

“You both should come with me to Alfea castle. It’s a school for fairies. A new session is about to start, you both could learn to control your powers.” Stella informed.

Stella waved her hand and the pencils on the ground Alastaria had blasted were moved back into the cup.

“And I’m sure you both make excellent fairy’s.” Stella asserted.

“Where is Alfea?” Bloom asked. Alastaria nodded her head confused.

“It’s in the enchanted realm of magix’s a place beyond time and space their anything is possible. If you want to see this school I’ll show it to you both.” Stella smiled.

Stella dropped a card on the ground. It grew and the picture of the castle was clear to see.

“This is a bottomless postcard watch this.” Stella announced.

Stella stepped one the card and yelled “Magic!” Stella’s feet began to sink into the card.

“Now follow me.” Stella explained sinking further into the large card.

Bloom gasped in awe while Alastaria just stared. Without hesitation Bloom stepped on the card.  As she sunk Bloom smirked cruelty at her sister.

Alastaria watched Bloom sink in with worry on her face. Was Alastaria about to let her sister go somewhere were she could be hurt. No. Alastaria sucked in a shaky breath and rubbed her left arm.

Was she really about to open the door to a new life. Alastaria thought she would stopping living the life she wanted after that night. But for her sister Alastaria stepped on the card, willing to make sure Bloom would be okay.

“Vanesa that was totally ridiculous. Fairy’s that’s crazy. And you didn’t ever stop Bloom from saying such horrible things to her sister!” Mike argued.

“Mike it’s not ridiculous, come on admit it. We both know Stella is a real fairy. That must mean Bloom is one too. And I don’t understand why you have such a problem with how Bloom talks with Alastaria. That is how siblings interact!” Vanesa fumed.

“You’re just scared! If this is Blooms true nature who are we to stop her!” Vanesa growled.

Standing from his chair Mike glared at his wife.

“Okay if Bloom is a fairy then why can’t Alastaria be one too. You don’t understand what I’m saying. I had two sisters. They acted like Bloom and Alastaria at times but never to the length Bloom takes it!” Mike yelled.

Vanesa sighed angrily. Vanesa pulled some of her hair back and looked back at Mike.

“Mike, Bloom was right.  Just because Bloom is special does not mean Alastaria has to be!” Vanessa shouted.

Mike scoffed at her and slumped back into his chair.

“Vanesa, Alastaria is just as special as Bloom we both know what! You have alway favored Bloom while Alastaria has had nothing but second rate love! It has to stop! Stella said it herself! They both saved her, they both used powers! What don’t you understand!” Mike yelled.

“This is alfea castle.” Stella said.

Behind Stella was a light pink castle with a blue roof.

“I’m sure you’d love it here” Stella asserted.

“But what about my high school in Gardenia? I mean everything is happening so fast?” Bloom gushed.

“Blooms right Stella. As lovely as being a fairy would be our whole live have been here. Are we allowed to sleep on it or something?” Alastaria asked.

Bloom turned her head to Alastaria with a glare. Bloom grabbed Alastaria’s hand roughly.

“There is nothing for us to think about. Just me.” Bloom sneered.

“Aww I wish I had a little sister Bloom. You’re so sweet to each other” Stella gushed.

Bloom turned back to Stella loosening her grip on Alastaria. Bloom smiled innocently.

“But you’re right Alastaria. You too can sleep on it. But when I leave in the mornings I’m going with or without you two.” Stella informed.

Alastaria sighed in relief and nodded her head. This would give her time to think about everything. The ghouls talking to her, the burning sensation in her eyes, and even the black stuff at came out of her hand.

“Okay I’ll sleep on it. Now how do we get out?” Bloom questioned.

“Easy you just jump up!” Stella smiled. The three girls jumped up making excited squeals.

Downstairs Kiko ran around the kitchen. And loud bang happed at the back door scaring him. Kiko ran into the living room hitting Mikes feet.

“We’ll play later Kiko we’re busy.” Mike said looking at Vanesa. Kiko yelled at pointed at the back door.

“Hungry again? You just had your dinner you’re gonna have to wait a little bit.” Mike explained not taking his eyes off Vanesa.

Kiko hopped to the back door and tried to hold if close. Kiko struggled with the door before and idea came to him. Kiko stacked a bunch of items in-front of the door.

“What is Kiko doing!” Mike yelled walking to the kitchen. Vanesa shook her head at Mike still angry. Before Mike could get another word in there was a loud bang and the house shook.

The hunter troll growled at the pair as the girls upstairs gasped in fear. Mike and Vanesa backed away in fear at the monsters trashed the houses

“Where are those girls! And her highness!” Knut yelled.

“We’re right here!” Stella fumed.

At the bottom of the staircase the girls stood.

“Now let’s end this! SOLRIA!” Stella yelled.

A bright light came from Stella’s ring and a yellow light surround her. As the light disappeared Stella was in her fairy form. Stella was in an orange glittery top, orange shorts, orange gogo boots. Her long gilded blonde hair was in two pigtails. She had blue cuffs on her wrist and a blue headband.

Stella jumped up and kicked the hunting troll.

“You dummy you got beat by a pretty blonde!” Knut growled.

“Yes! But I’m no ordinary blonde! Bloom, Alastaria were out numbered. We’re gonna have to split them up.” Stella snapped.

“I have and idea. I’ll take some of the ghouls out front while Alastaria takes the other to the woods behind our house. “ Bloom explained.

Alastaria goes to interject not wanting Bloom to get hurt fighting the ghouls. But Bloom runs out of the front door with ghouls following her.

Alastaria growls and yelled at the rest of the ghouls “Follow me!”

Without hesitation the ghouls followed Alastaria all of them yelling in their language “ yes your highness!”

Entering a clearing in the woods Alastaria looked back at all the ghouls.

“Shit what do I do know?” Alastaria whispered.

The ghouls stood in front of Alastaria waiting for something. Alastaria stared at the ghouls as the same burning sensation came into her eyes.

Alastaria groaned in pain putting her hands on her head. She fell to her knees clutching her head. Alastaria heard the ghouls mo big closer to her but could not move.

She felt a clawed have on her shoulder and Alastaria snapped her head to the ghoul. The ghouls had sat all around her and their faces light up when she looked at them.

In a moment two ghoul went right in front of Alastaria and dropped something. Alastaria tilted her head in confusion but removed her hands from her head to reach towards whatever the ghouls had dropped.

On the ground before her was an amulet. It was an eclipse with a black gem in its center.

“It looks like melanites.” Alastaria wondered out loud.

Alastaria brought the amulet closer to her body. It gave off a safe, calm, yet dangerous aura.

“Keep it up your highness.” One of the ghouls said.

“But why? Why did to keep calling me your highness. Why can I understand your language?” Alastaria questioned.

Before any ghoul could answer a green blast hit a ghoul. Alastaria gasped and held the ghoul close to her.

A group of boys along with Stella and Bloom were standing in the forests. A blonde with mid length hair and sky blue eyes stepped forward.

“Get away from her!” He yelled.

Alastaria gasped at thought he had seen him before. The boys looked at her and gasped as well.

The ghouls charged at the boys all screaming “ Protect her highness!”

Before they could attack they were gone in a magenta light.

“Are you okay?” The boy asked. Alastaria looked at him and something in there eyes clicke.

“Yes thank you for the help.” Alastaria thanked. He nodded and offered Alastaria his hand. Alastaria happily took it and he helped her onto her feet.

“Oh Alastaria I was worried about you!” Stella cried slamming into Alastaria pulling her into a hug.

“Ya Alastaria why did you go off by yourself. You could’ve gotten hurt if it wasn’t for us.” Bloom scolded.

Alastaria’s opened her mouth to speak but closed it not wanting to argue.

“I’m Brandon by the way.” The boy now known as Brandon introduced himself.

“And they are Riven, Prince Sky, and Timmy” Stella introduced the rest of the boys.

Alastaria nodded her head and turned to the group.

“Thank you for your help.” Alastaria thanked.

The boys all nodes their heads. Stella pulled away from Alastaria and went over to Bloom.

“I’m sorry but have we met before?” Brandon asked.

Alastaria opened her mouth to speak but no words would come out.

“Alastaria come on stop wasting his time they have to leave. And we have to go home!” Bloom yelled pulling Alastaria’s arms.

The boys formed a group and Brandon looked at Alastaria.

“Bye, for now.” Brando smiled as him and the other disappeared.

As morning came in Gardenia and Alastaria had not slept at all. She had been to busy staring at the amulet to sleep.

Bloom finished backing and came downstairs with Vanesa, but Alastaria could hardly keep her eyes open.

“What about you moonflower are you packed to go?” Mike asked.

“Huh.” Alastaria whimpered.

“We’re leaving so grab your stuff and let’s go.” Vanesa growled at Alastaria. Alastaria quick ran upstairs with the little energy she had. She quick threw clothes, jewelry, makeup, and other things into a suitcase.

Alastaria looked at her bed and grabbed and small dog plushie. She carefully placed it in the suitcase and closed it up.

She ran downstairs and Stella smiled at her.

“To magix we go!” Stella yelled as her staff glowed. Everyone was transported through a pink light. They all landed and Bloom and Stella spoke. Alastaria just shook her head trying to stay awake.

Alastaria followed after her sister as they walked to alfea castle.

Elsewhere on the planet of Demore a man with long redish-brown hair and hazel eyes peered down at a globe showing Alastaria walk with her family.

The globe zoomed in of Alastaria’s face and the man tilted his head at her. The eclipse amulet hung around her neck.

“It seems she has gotten her amulet back. Perfect. In time you will return to us.” The man sneered.

“Your highness.” The man cackled.

YES! During the ice cream date Richie tells Eddie that Jules is a lesbian and he’s been helping her work up the nerve to ask out her crush. Her crush is on the cheerleading team and the only reason she joined. He’s been play flirting with her to help her practice and because it’s DERRY. That’s when Henry Bowers and his crew show up and goes up to them. He immediately starts with his usual homophobic bullshit. ‘You two fairies on a date. Knew you weren’t man enough for that cheerleader babe Tozier. She should be with a man’s man like me’. Eddie almost choked on his ice cream and has to cover his mouth to keep from laughing. Henry sees it anyway and turns his attention to him. ‘What are you laughing at Mommas boy. Just make sure our project is tip top don’t want you messing up my GPA’ ‘Must be really hard trying to maintain a 1.0 or is that being generous Bowers’ Richie combats. That was when Henry really starts to get mad and leans over threateningly towards Richie. Eddie moves to try to intervene but there’s no need. The owner an older gentleman who makes it no secret that the Losers are his favorite customers steps forward. He ends up kicking Bowers and co out in the kindest way possible(very Ben). Before the owner leaves he high fives both Richie and Eddie. It was smooth sailing afterwards. Richie walks Eddie home and they don’t really know how to say goodbye to each so they just stand there smiling at each other. Richie looks around to make sure the coast is clear before quickly kissing Eddie on the cheek and running away. Yelling ‘see you tomorrow!’ over his shoulder. Eddie watches him leave long after he disappears, smiling.

they also are the worst at coming up with excuses to be alone. like they’ll all be hanging out at ben’s house or smth and richie will whisper something to eddie. eddie will immediately stand up, go to the door, and say ‘yeah sorry guys i gotta clean. my. uh. room.’ richie will sprint to the door and say something like ‘wow. sounds like hard work. im gonna help you.’ and they both run out of the house. all while blushing furiously.
