Met Gala 2023: My Top 5 Men’s Looks

I’ve had a few messages asking for my favourite men’s look from the Met Gala 2023, despite the fact I wasn’t overly enamoured by what I saw from the men this year. So I thought I’d share with you all my top 5 men’s looks as there were a few that I did like even though I feel like the women shined a lot brighter when it came to their outfits. 

Like before this post is just my opinions on fashion, it’s not absolute and you’re all welcome to either agree or disagree with me.

1. Conan Gray wearing Balmain I won’t lie. I roasted Conan for his 2022 Met Gala look so I was really surprised to see he had stepped it up with this amazing outfit from Balmain. Every time I look at it I fall more in love with it because it’s both masculine and feminine from head to toe. Plus I love how the pearls are placed throughout his outfit as well the fan that just adds that touch of flamboyance thats needed for an outstanding Met Gala look.

2. Brian Tyree Henry wearing Karl Largerfield Just like Conan, Brian nailed his look which was obviously helped by the fact he was wearing an outfit from the late designer. Regardless though, I felt it suited Brian to tee even with the large ruffle coat that oddly didn’t overwhelm him nor did it detract from twist on an the classic men’s suit thats become a trend in recent years.

3. Eddie Redmayne wearing Alexander McQueen Eddie seems to be a spokesperson for the McQueen brand these days as I don’t think I’ve ever seen him wear another designer when it comes to public events. The suit itself is a classic suit but I love the silver broaches and how they are placed from shoulder to shoulder with a drop on his chest and connected by chains. It looks like expensive raindrops and I love it. Also I love Hannah's classic McQueen gown, they compliment each other perfectly.

4. Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs wearing Sean John Whilst I’m not a fan of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs I can’t help but love his look, even if it’s from his own fashion house. The look compliments the theme perfectly whilst still being a haute couture look that you can tell is more about Sean than Karl Lagerfield. Overall it screams modern vampire who’s there to steal the limelight (and probably your blood) and I’m honestly here for it. 

5. Pedro Pascal wearing Valentino I don’t know why but I really love the whole look on Pedro. Perhaps it’s the vibrant red that just like Salma Hayek’s gown, was actually palette cleanser from all the black & white that graced the stairs of the Met Gala. Or perhaps it’s because Pedro is killing it in The Last of Us as well as The Mandalorian and is the internet’s heartthrob. All in all I can’t not love this look and it just goes to show that he can wear anything and still look handsome.

wrow it has been like 1.5 yr since my first c!hannie drawing 😭 ourgh i love her sosososo much. i really went back n forth on whether or not to actually complete this design, due to my... complicated and strenuous relationship with the dsmp... but after talking it out and going through these pieces i wanted to do it justice one last time :)

without further ado here is a (near-complete) history of my c!hannahxxrose design. i have included text descriptions since my handwriting is notoriously doctoral (bad):

DESIGN EVOLUTION:

In the beginning the design was very simple, and leaned heavily into the popular fanon. [pointing at image of c!hannah with leafy, thick foliage leaves from fall 2021: this was drawn before the event where c!hannah got her wings, aka i'm psychic teehee]

(i didn't really know much about her character, so these aren't tied to the canon and got scrapped!)

Post-Elytramaggedeon:

her wings! i think when she lost them, it really drew me into pinning down a design for her. i toyed with the imagery of torn, tattered wings, but then turned to a more melted look. i love the multicolour spread of her wings, through over time her wing shape changes from a butterfly wing to a more dragonfly/fairy-style.

i toyed with the idea of her wings being torn off completely, but at the end it was more true to the imagery to have these massive, multicoloured wings, useless and tattered.

Design Exploration:

While working on those [above] pieces in 2022, i started exploring different ideas for my c!hannah design.

[text pointing to a sketch from september 2022, where c!hannah has a large, tree-like arm: in this, c!hannah is a flower nymph whose body is apart of nature--the tree arm is borne! i LOVE asymmetrical designs. In my notes, i wrote: 'she draws her energy from nature to heal after losing her wings- in return, nature returns to claim her body... as time goes on, the bark grows.]

Concept: pre-DSMP design:

Introduction of Armour:

[text beneath multiple drawings of c!hannah from summer 2022, where she is wearing armour: in these sketches, i was feeling the urge to draw some armoured ladies-and so c!hannah became my victim!

i'm always craving sleek, feminine silhouettes in my armoured designs, without turning into battle corsets and bikinis.

at the same time as this, i was in the brainstorming/conceptual stages for other dsmp characters, and i wanted c!hannah to be unique from the generic, full-netherite design.]

Final Design:

A year and a half after my first art of her, and i collected the varying design elements from past pieces into one final concept!

Knightly yet feminine, strong but still wearing (literally) the scars of pain. I wasn't confident in ever finishing this, but then i heard that she gets her wings back after the 2023 """finale""" of the smp... it was time to bring closure to this character design that i have poured a whole part of myself into. This was the final sketch.

for the final piece itself, i wanted to reference the colours of hannah's minecraft skin, while still adding that fantasy-knight element. the wings are trimmed, but still retained that beautiful, multicolour melty look. her tree arm is finally blossoming and blooming with pops of colour, to signify regrowth after the trauma of losing a piece of herself. her insignia is not for any nation, but for herself.

a few things didn't end up making the cut (the cape from the final sketch, her other forms and ideas for pre-SMP, etc) but at this point, i am really excited to just stop looking at this piece LOL. it has been staring at me for forever. im very pleased with it and touched something special at seeing my own abilities, ambition, and concept designs grow within my own work. even if no one reads all 213445345 words of this, it's a wonderful capsule of the work i put into this design and im quite pleased.

I've been playing around with the eyes~ I like these ones best. The eyes are bigger in the 1st one, and the others have them a bit smaller. The 1st one has a more innocent look. The 2nd has more slitted eyes and a "seductive" look?

Judar has sharp (tsurime) eyes and rings in his eyes, which are really fun to draw hehe 🤗

I'll redraw the hair soon! I just drew it quickly in like 5 minutes. It's finals season for me. I'm not fully free from this semester so I'm still quite busy, but you'll probably see small doodles from me 🙏

I'm definitely seeing art improvement (improvement in brush strokes and anatomy and proportions)

Ohtaka deliberately draws hatched lines near Judar's eyes to represent his eyeshadow 🤭 ❤️

I drew the hair quickly, so I didn't pay much attention to the shapes of the hair spikes so it's not as soft. But even with the quick doodle, the hair has better weight now. Once I get to refine things properly, I'll actually pay attention to the way his hair spikes are drawn.

I was recently rereading my old dialogue scripts from my JuAli AU and revamping them! I doodled Judar and Alibaba SO much in 2022. It's the Fire/Ice duality and Black Cat x Golden Retriever ship dynamic 🖤💛🐈‍⬛🐕

I wanna draw JuAli again soon and redraw my old doodles. JuAli is my main Magi ship so ofc I wanna draw lots of them~ I haven't gotten the time yet, but I want to draw my ships like AliHaku, SinJa, and KouMor eventually, too 🙏✨

Judar rambles

I originally drew Judar wearing hanfu in 2022! Still one of my personal fave doodles ❤️ Judar is my fave (no one is surprised, I have the most obvious predictable tastes in the world LMAO). A meow meow mf perfect for my tastes.

Judar fits perfectly into the highly specific Sen-core niche that my top faves all tend to fall under - Meow meow mf. C*nty sen-core bastard cat who's violent, threatens people, and ok with murder. Bloodthirsty. Monochrome aesthetic colour palette.

Manga Judar has red eyeliner (?) and anime Judar has purple eyeshadow? Both are good, but I like Judar with red eyeliner since black and red are his theme colours! 🖤❤️ I like how the colours pop, the contrast against his design, and how it matches his red eyes.

In my HCs, Judar wears a type of hanfu called Ruqun (襦裙). Ru (襦) is the cross-collared top of a hanfu, and the wrap-around skirt is called Qun (裙). The coat jacket is called Da Xiu Shan (大袖衫).

I want him to wear black, white, red, gold, hanfu & hanfu earrings, with red eyeliner and black painted nails 🤗

I still need to pick my headcanon hanfu earrings for Judar... I imagine they'd be gold with red accessories.

I just have to refine the eyes, redraw the hair and hanfu, and then start doing the lineart for it! I love the expression tbh

Additional rambles

I miss my sons, I wanna draw my HC designs of JuAli (with Judar wearing hanfu and Alibaba with tanner skin, wearing traditional Arabic clothes), as a fix-it for the obvious colourism going on in Magi's character designs of SWANA and South Asian inspired characters

I bought black and red hanfu back in 2023. I based my Judar hanfu doodles on it 🥺❤️ It's in Judar colours. Black red and white 🖤❤️🤍 I'm so HAPPY to get something that reminds me of my fave 🥰🤭❤️✨ I got it from the Hanfu Story~ They have such a large selection of hanfu and they're all so gorgeous~

Basically Judar themed hanfu~ I love traditional clothes, so it's my dream to collect them! Now I can use it as refs to draw him with the poses and lighting I want teehee. Hanfu & huafu look GORGEOUS to me. I also have Việt Phục like áo dài and áo tấc~

The colours are amazing!! I love black and red combo 😭💖 It's way too easy to fall into the fashion hole and collecting traditional clothes but I definitely want more in the future!

I love how Ohtaka stylizes and draws the shape of Judar's hair and braids. It's so clever how she simplifies the shapes. It just looks so good. It looks galaxy/tornado shaped… I love how the hatched lines above his eyes in Ohtaka's inking represents his eyeliner... ❤️

Judar's expressions from Ch. 110 - 111 are so unhinged… The Ch. 288 omake Judar is iconic. Fucking crazy ass LMAO 😭😂 Love you tho! 💞🫶

I'll be honest. I've thought about changing my PFP to this Judar again from the Magi omakes, like I thought of doing it as an April Fool's joke before, but I feel like no one would bat an eye cuz of how my faves are like LMFAO

Sen-core faves: Murderous, bloodthirsty, violent (or at the very least, has a disposition for violence), MAY eat people and/or their innards 🙌

Art rambles

When I sketch, I draw out the expressions and decide which ones looks best (I either do it once or a few ~ several times) depending on whether I'm satisfied with it. I like the two most recent 2024 versions I showed~ The old ones are still nice... But I prefer the recent versions, because I think it shows how my art style and proportions improved.

These sketches are super messy right now so when I get the time I'll refine them more! It's just to make it consistent with my current style. I'm a little insecure about my sketches, so I prefer to keep most of them on priv for mutuals.

Since I'm not really a fan of the idea of my sketches/WIPs getting posted around when I'm bound to fix/refine/improve on them later when I get the chance to refine them. Though thankfully with my 2022+ lining style, my sketches look more "aesthetically nice" or "post worthy" to me...

Perhaps in the future... I do genuinely like my art style and I'm very happy with my art improvement, but I want to keep growing as an artist first. I want to reach the point where I manage to become more technically skilled and confident about my works (even my sketches)

It’s been a while since the last one but finally I’m here for the last fic rec of the year :) 

I’m offering you ten of the best f1 fics I’ve read during the second half of the year (which I think you def cannot miss!!! )

so here we go...

- Sebastian and the Angel by Anonymous (Explicit)

This is a fic with an outstanding plot, an explicit and very detailed narrative that makes you feel like you’re whitnessing the story and all very ingenious characters. The emotional inteligence of the author is definitely something else.

- Every time I think the feelings fading I miss you (I miss you) by TheWiseOne12 (PG)

or a very sweet story about love, heartbreaking and refinding love even when everything is against you. It had me intrigued during all nineteen chapters and the strong point is definitely the hurt/comfort it offers, with a lot of angst but fluff on the same mesure.

- we can live in a world that we design by freed0m98 (T)

I have a soft spot on Carlos/Lando/Charles fic but this one is unexpectedly Carlos centered! I’ve never read one like this and the author definitely nailed it, the building is great (better than my own ficI’ll admit) and the ending is as sweet and you can expect it to be.

I’m obssessed with this fic!!! It’s basically Sebchal falling in love in the 20th century and again, the building and the sexual tension is otherworldly. One of my favorites of the 2022.

Or piarles confessing each other and it’s so godamn goals! they talk their past, their present and their future and the fic has an even bigger meaning if you read the fic before in the saga (a saga I highly recomend as well, but this work is my favorite of them) so go check it out.

Or one of the hottest fics I got to read this year, and a very captivating sexting moment I have in my mind even after days of having read it. Definitely a sebchal ft Lewis jewel.

- e forse il mare è dentro di lui by DuquesaDeMiel (T)

One of the most well thought plots I got to read, where Pierre is a scientist and Charles is a lifeguard and the sea is.... well, the sea conects them and It’s all I can say without spoiling because I really want people to read this. It’s wonderful.

- First Love/Late Spring by blackest_eyes (Explicit)

Or my favorite Piarles fic of the 2022. It’s sweet, sexy, sad, and all the good S in there ;) (sorry for the bad pun). I love the nostalgia and how you can reflect on the characters’ feelings, fears and decisions. An emotional story with a hopeful ending that will leave you smiling for days.

- we do not perish. by Laeana (T)

Or the fic where Pierre and Charles live and die again and again untill they get their happy ending. There’s a lot to outstand in this fic; the originality of the idea, the narration, how it comes and goes in time, how sentimental it gets... It’s beautiful not just the plot but the whole aesthetic you get from it.

Or Lando and Charles get drunk and married in Vegas. Charles panics about it but everyone reassures him so he doesn’t fuck it up. Everyone in this fic has a role, and no detail is left hanging. I love that it shows the path of someone realizing that even when things look bad, there’s always something good in it and you have to make the most of it. My favorite Charlando fic so far.

One ticket for… THE FALL GUY (2024)

Stunt Designer. Chris O'Hara

The Fall Guy was such a surprise! While predictable, this film is just a bloody fun time. I was lucky enough to see this in a packed theatre with strong audience reactions. Laughs, gasps, and cheers regularly filled the theatre.

Everyone played their roles perfectly. Ryan Gosling brought what everyone loves about Ryan Gosling- charm, humor, and sincerity. What sticks out to me about Gosling is that he never really takes a role he does not believe in. You can see that with the amount of heart he puts into this project. Gosling truly wants to shoutout the stunt actors who make the films we love. For example, Logan Holladay, who was Goslings stunt double in this film.

Emily Blunt nails the first-time director vibe and I could see Aaron Taylor-Johnson playing a pompous asshole forever. Winston Duke is a master of comedy and was just a delight to see in this. I'm glad that Stephanie Hsu got to be apart of some action scenes as well! Reminded me of how good her action scenes were in Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022).

And of course, the stunts. Now, I never considered myself to be an action fan (until I watched John Wick and realized that oh yes, I do love action). A film like this where one can kick back with some popcorn and be thrilled by stunt piece after stunt piece will captivate every time. Sometimes we just want to see someone get up after taking hit after hit. This film empathizes that those hits hurt. Even though it is a stunt mans job to get hurt, it still, well, hurts.

What helps is that The Fall Guy riffs on the filmmaking process itself. Gosling's interaction with the in-universe camera, the process of filming a fire stunt, and use of stunt cars (for the record breaking 8 1/2 cannon roll, which is reference din the film) all show the cast and crews awareness of the tedious process of filming stunts. The scene where Gosling's character explains how the sand is wrong for filming (and is right) shows the audience all the small details that a stuntman needs to be aware of to keep everyone safe.

The Fall Guy is a love letter to not just stunts but to filmmaking as a whole. The pro-practical effects themes and anti-deepfake plot was unexpected but appreciated. Hannah Waddigham playing the "we fix it with VFX" producer felt all too real. You can tell that this film was made by those who genuinely love their industry. They give a shoutout to the underdogs and remind audiences of what goes into the films they love.

Side note: along with Barbie (2023), it is great to see Gosling pursuing films that prioritize practical sets and SFX.

Other aspects of this film that I loved:

The score and soundtrack! The recurring riff from "I Was Made For Lovin' You" by Kiss was a treat. The scene with Taylor Swift's "All Too Well" made me want to laugh and sing at the same time.

Metalstorm as a concept. Every time that fake score played the audience was crying laughing. The most yellow movie I have ever (not) seen.

Highlighting the lack of an Academy Award for stunts, the world record eight-and-a-half cannon roll, and the inaugural credit of Stunt Designer for Chris O'Hara. Let's appreciate those stunts, folks!

All in all, I highly recommended The Fall Guy. It's a bloody good time that spreads awareness and appreciation for the art of stunts. I hope to see it in a theatre again soon! For years I have wanted Best Stunts or Choreography to be added to The Academy Awards. This film is a promising step in the right direction.

2023 Autumn Classic International FS results, final results, and Stephen's protocol.

Ok this is really late my apologies.

Let's start with that costume. I was hoping to see Stephen in blue since he revealed it's his favourite colour. Have been wanting to see him in something ombré forever. I was actually telling my mom yesterday I wish he'd wear ombré as it would suit him so well. To get both in one costume? I was screaming. Thank you to whoever designed that.

Now the technical. First of all, big props to Stephen for not letting those early mistakes get to him. He held it together and kept going, and that is so important for his progress as an athlete. Full respect for that. In terms of that content I was surprised to see his Lutz come back from its exile. It was a nice one, and I think nailing that helped settle him down after the first fall.

The 4S in the second half looked good, and that 3F3A sequence was amazing. That's smart thinking, to put two of his best jumps together like that. And finally we have some variety in jump layout. He must have grown tired of the layouts he'd been doing for the past four years. Level 4 spins are always welcome. The choreography looks interesting and so different from last season. The crowd was clapping along to his step sequence, which is great. It was a level 2 but I'm sure with mileage it will improve.

It was the first time out with this program and it wasn't bad at all plus he managed to get a medal so I'll take that. I haven't had time to go through comments but what little I have seen suggests people like this program. Also a strange little fact: this is Stephen's first time winning bronze at an event. He did win a small bronze for the FS at 2019 Junior Worlds, but he's only ever won gold or silver otherwise. This is his first international senior medal and I'm just proud of him for picking himself up after last season and coming out here and making a statement. If you were writing him off after last season you should think twice.

Also shout out to the two MVPs with Stephen - Bruce and coach Lee Barkell. Bruce went to Montreal to watch Stephen and cheer him on, and has been supporting him online as well. I think you can even hear him in the crowd, and I'm sure his support buoyed Stephen. As I've stated previously Stephen's best skates in the past couple of years have come with Lee by his side. Stephen is a Californian now, but I hope he can continue to work with Lee and become more successful under his (occasional) tutelage.

Back in January 2022 when Stephen was forced to withdraw from Nationals I was going through it but was encouraged by the kind words of a coach (an acquaintance) who reassured me Stephen would be back. They were letting me know that Stephen would be selected for Junior Worlds without stating it outright, but I didn't comprehend that in my state of mind. I just calmed myself down by thinking about when he'd be back. At that time I told myself he would be here for 2022 SCI, 2023 Nationals, and also 2023 ACI. I'm glad to see that all worked out without any more withdrawals. Let's manifest more good things.

Stephen has now done a JGP, JGP Final, Grand Prix, and Challenger Series event within Canada. He's just got one international left to do here...and that's enough from me. :)

Way to go Stephen! Congratulations and looking forward to seeing more.

Well, here we are. The final chapter of Princess Parker. Thank you so so so much to everyone who has come on this journey with me. From the birth of this idea one April night in 2022 to now, Princess Parker has grown into this entire entity by himself who has carved out a special place in my heart. Peter has become his own person in the Super Starkers Discord and he sort of became a child to me and the other sprinters.

I'd like to take a second to shout out some of the people who helped to make this fic possible before we get started:

11-- The End Is Just The Beginning

Two weeks later, the duo find themselves meeting again in the science building bathroom. Peter's leaning against the counter, looking as enticing as ever. Before Tony can stop himself, he has Peter pressed against the line of sinks in a deep kiss. "Fuck, I've missed this." The edge of the sink against his back is all that keeps Peter grounded. Well, that and the feeling of Tony Stark's mouth against his. "I've missed it too." He gasps in between connections, the feeling of his words hot against Tony's lips. He slips his fingers into the back of the other's hair; something he discovered in the last week is a soft spot for Tony. As expected, the scientist gasps and allows Peter to lick into his mouth. He gasps, guiding Tony's hand to his hips, "Fuck, T." Peter whispers, head falling back slightly. "I know," Tony replies, breath ghosting over the boy's jaw.

Before they can connect again, the bathroom door creaks. "Fuck!" Peter squeaks, pushing Tony back and turning to face the sink. He turns on the water, making it look as though he's just washing his hands. Tony rushes to the other end of the sinks, and fakes fixing his hair in the mirror adjusting and readjusting his aviators. The person enters the bathroom, not looking up from his phone as he disappears into one of the stalls. Peter catches Tony's reflection in the mirror, laughing silently at the smirk he's met with. Tony winks, heading towards the door, pretending that the hand running across Peter's ass is an accident.

------ "Come in!" Tony calls the next Sunday afternoon. He continues picking up a screwdriver and screwing another bracket into place, not looking at the door. "Hey, hi." "Hi." Peter begins, flinching when Tony cries out. "Fuck!"

Peter's eyes grow wide, from where he leans against the door frame, worried that he's overstepped in showing up. "Sorry. I didn't mean to invade." He watches worriedly as Tony pulls his hands out of the metal box, blood seeping at his fingertips. "You didn't... Ahem... c-come on in!" Tony gasps, cradling his wound. Blood drips into his cupped hand as he kicks the bathroom door open, and turns on the light with his elbow. Peter rushes over, turning on the sink. "I didn't mean to startle you!" "You're fine. It just slid. It's fine." Tony runs water over the gash, watching as the water tints a slight pink. Peter leans against the counter fretting, staring at Tony's reflection. He refuses to look in the sink, avoiding seeing Tony's hand. "Peter, it's okay. It's just a small cut. I’ll survive, I’ve endured worse. I don't need stitches or medical attention. Just some good old soap, water, and a bandage." "Are you sure? I mean, I don't want you to be hurt! Are your screwdrivers safe? Is there rust?" "Easy worry wart. I promise it won't be falling apart before our next… date? I think we can call them dates?" "Is that your way of asking me out, Tony Stark?" Tony rubs his hand against the back of his neck, a sheepish look crossing his eyes. Peter smiles to himself, "Because if it is, I already have an answer." "Oh you do, do you?" Tony approaches with a smirk, placing his uninjured hand on Peter's waist and drawing him close. "Yes," Peter replies with a giggle, leaning in and kissing the punk.

This work is the first fic that I have written for the phandom since 2016, hopefully, you love it!

The cab pulls to a stop outside their house, and it's just like he left it. Some sick part of Dan expected to wake up somewhere between the airport and home and realize this entire thing was a fever dream. He waited for the moment Phil shook his arm and told him breakfast was on the table at two in the afternoon and that they had a production meeting to get to for Radio One. He expected the entirety of touring the USA with his team of friends and the slutty nun costume in his suitcase to just cease to exist. That the memories of hugging thousands and thousands of fans and ripping his jumpsuit on stage in front of a packed theater wouldn't be real. Something of a sick joke only his brain could conjure up.

The last three years have been everything to him, something chaotic and beautiful for which they had worked their asses off. From building his and Phil's forever home, to writing and premiering this tour, to writing a book and creating a full-length coming-out video, his entire life was falling together. 

He smiles to himself, a personal secret only he knows as he opens the cab door and collects his luggage. He's gotten surprisingly good at packing lightly, but the number of treasures he'd picked up around the country had begun to pile. He went from a couple of backpacks and a suitcase to an entirely separate piece of luggage that TSA was sure to think was drugs.

He wonders if Phil's home, but quickly corrects the thought, feeling his phone buzz in his jacket pocket with a text from Phil asking where he is. He hadn't told Phil when he'd be coming home, only what day the plane was set to arrive. 

And now here he was. Home at last. He touches his hand to the doorknob, chipped black nail polish glinting in the porch light. The sun was due to go down soon, fucking winter. He racks his brain to decide what time it is, his body still 7 hours behind London time. He pushes open the door, hearing the beeping of the security system, alerting their phones that the door has opened. He's greeted by the black entryway and the smell of candles. All at once, the safety washes over him. He stumbles in, setting his laptop bag and luggage down, fussing over the tangle of straps and zippers. What was he thinking designing a jacket with a belt and so many zippers? Of course, they'd get hung! He pulls his AirPods out of his ears, drops them into the case, slipping them back into the pocket alongside his phone, not bothering to pause Perfume Genius. 

When he finally looks up, there, before him, is home. Phil's standing in a sweater Dan's never seen before and he's got a smile on his face that surely matches the one on his own. Dan's shoulders drop as Phil steps off the last step, his mind so flooded with emotions that he doesn't even comment on the chaotic stepping habits of the older.

He's home. Phil had opened his arms to catch Dan before he even realized he was falling, arms wrapping around the older's shoulders. The hug shoots them both back to 2009, one where months and years of quiet longing, the sobbing and screaming of their hearts almost becoming painful. The visceral need to be with their other half, the want and need to be whole again. 

He's whole again. 

"Welcome home, Bear," Phil whispers from his place nuzzled into the crook of Dan's neck. The tears in Dan's eyes fall then, brown eyes turning a bit glassy with the emotions and the love he has for the other. Phil chuckles, pressing a kiss to Dan's temple. "Are you crying?"

Dan nods, hiding his face against the green jumper, Phil invading his senses. The touch of the older, how he doesn't pull away, as though he's scared as well that this is a dream. The way Phil has somehow gotten more handsome since he left, how the memories and the facetime photos weren't doing him justice. The way his voice rumbles from his chest when he laughs softly at the tears on Dan's cheeks. His smell of warmth and the candles he'd lit in attempts to make the house homier. 

"Didn't miss me, did you?" Dan jokes, smiling through his tears, pulling back just far enough to meet the older's greeny-yellow-blue eyes. 

"Nope. Not at all."Phil smiles, and that's when Dan sees the tears in his eyes. "I got the entire bed to myself and cuddled your Haru pillow. It was great."

"Mhm... Whelp, now you got your bed-hog back. Speaking of hogs, you didn't buy any more golden animals, did you?"

"No, I didn't, actually, not at all." Phil laughs, hugging Dan again, "I'm glad you're home safe." He finally draws back and grabs the folded front of Dan's leather jacket, pulling him in for a kiss. "I didn't realize how quiet this house gets when you're not here."

"Gee, thanks. Sayin' I'm loud, are you?" Dan smirks, not needing a reply as he closes the gap between them again. Phil shakes his head, laughing softly. "Mind giving me a hand getting these upstairs?"

"Sure, which ones should I grab? I can get the suitcase?" Phil reaches over after Dan nods, and picks the suitcase up, slinging a backpack over his shoulder. "You could have told me you were here! I would have helped you out of the cab! I didn't know you had so much! I thought you only left with a suitcase and a backpack?"

"I did, but our fans are very generous people, babe. There are so many letters, artworks and gifts that I still need to go through. I read a few letters on the bus when I had a moment alone but not all of them. I love hearing their stories." They drop the luggage onto the bed, and before Phil can wrap his arms around him again, Dan mumbles something about wanting comfy clothes. 

The older nods, watching as he opens the double doors to his closet, the sea of blacks and grays stare back as he picks out his comfiest pajamas. "Why are you staring at me, Phil?" Dan murmurs, not needing to look back at his partner. 

"I just can't believe you're home again, finally," Phil whispers, barely loud enough for him to hear, knowing nothing matters but right now. "I really have missed you, Bear."

"I know you have, you spork, you told me all the time when I called you." Dan walks back to the bed, dropping his Game of Thrones Pj pants and NASA cats t-shirt on the duvet. Phil sits at the side, watching quietly. His eyes follow Dan's hands as they remove his airport clothing, and as they pull the new clothes onto his body. He's changed slightly since he left. He's fitter than he used to be, and there's a glow about him that Phil only knows to be true happiness. Phil's eyes sparkle slightly from behind his black frames, as he waits for the next step on Dan's internal to-do list. "You know you don't have to follow me, right?" Dan jests, catching his reflection in the moon mirror, and ruffling his curls. "I won't disappear." The last part of his sentence comes out like a whisper as he approaches the older, hands cupping Phil's cheeks. "I'm really home. I promise I'm not going anywhere for a while." Phil nods, feeling the familiar burn in his throat that comes from crying, and he knows his face deceives him. "How many times are you going to cry?" Dan jokes, feeling another tear slip from his eye. Phil shrugs, sweater brushing the backs of his hands and Dan can't help but lean in again for another slow kiss. 

"Fuck I have missed this," Phil whispers between kisses, breaths coming out clipped and quick.

"You have, have you?" Dan smirks against his mouth, hands tangling in the hair on the back of Phil's neck. It's gotten longer since he'd left. 

"You have no idea." Phil's hands come to rest on Dan's hips pulling him in again, "You and your old lady pajamas," he laughs, tongue poking between his teeth, head falling back slightly. 

"You're actually an asshole, y’know that right?"

"I know, but I'm your asshole." 

Dan was home, finally. And he feels their little world begin to heal. The universe takes a breath, and he feels the safety wash over him. Finally, he's back where he belongs.
