What are the signs of dating anxiety?
Dating anxiety can impact all steps of dating. This may look like feeling overwhelmed with the first step of putting yourself out there, whether that be online, via text, or in-person. You may feel so anxious with the idea of dating that you drop a potential partner when they show signs they’d like to take your relationship to a dating level.
Even if you go on a first date, dating anxiety can persist by making you over analyze the date (“was there a spark? Do they really like me? Should I try for a second date?”). Finally, dating anxiety may be so debilitating that you swear off dating at all, even though you do want a partner.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll talk about tips to overcome some of the most common fears in relationship anxiety! What would you like to learn about? Let us know in the comments below!

I know everyone is struggling right now, but if you've got any little bit to spare, it'd go a long way. If not PLEASE reblog, because I really want to be able to pay my bills.

FAMILY. As the saying goes and a good friend of mine often reminds me, you can’t choose your family, but there is the “family” you choose. Some of us have experienced the disruption of family ties during the pandemic for a multitude of reasons. Whatever might be the case in your own life, remember “family” is what you make it. I know I appreciate the family I have chosen to no end, but more importantly, the family who has chosen to invest in us.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Homework: Let the “family” you have chosen know they are much appreciated in your life.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ #sundaysupper #familytherapy #family #familyofthree #familysystems #choosefamily #friendsarefamily #investinyourfriends #investinyourfamily #gratefulformyfamily #gratefulformyfriends #appreciation #showappreciation #choosewisely #investinothers #bekind #bewell⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ https://www.instagram.com/p/CW1d6UYpz5m/?utm_medium=tumblr

Disney lied to us. Relationships of all kinds require work! Sometimes we jump right into problem solving mode or sometimes we start playing games, always trying to get the "upper hand". It's usually easier to be petty or defensive than it is to fully honor differences and identify areas for growth. If your partner won't see your side and won't compromise, start a dialogue. There's something going on, some fear or some value that keeps your partner stuck. You love them, you want mutual respect, and this is an excellent opportunity to get curious about their rationale. It may soften their resolve or maybe they'll soften yours. . . . #mentalhealth #selfcare #relationships #relationshipgoals #relational #familysystems #familytherapy #couplestherapy #familycounseling #couplescounseling #growth (at Occupied Duwamish Territory) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNgDkz7DxKV/?igshid=18xt6pr4udu8x

Family social work is utilized throughout so many areas of social work, because families are a huge influence on individual clients, as well as larger systems. Families can be great resources of information, as well a solid support system, but they can also offer a number of barriers and complications. Following relationships and family drama can be overwhelming and exhausting. Not only that, but understanding the family, culture, and how to best practice with them is also integrated into the chaos. Utilizing genograms and culturagrams can REALLY help you get a better understanding of the family unit, individual relationship, and what factors impact family functioning and development. Do you use these tools often in practice? #socialwork #socialworker #socialworkers #socialworklife #socialworkstudent #msw #bsw #humanservices #socialservices #psychology #sociology #counseling #counselor #therapy #therapist #familysocialwork #familysystems #systemstheory #familytherapy #familytherapist #relationships #familydrama #chaos #genogram #culturagram #culture #influence #soapopera #map https://www.instagram.com/p/B1ocHXigLyC/?igshid=cljw3ke66phy

My father had always stated that euthanasia is more harmful to an animal than what is said. Is this true? What exactly goes on inside the animal when they are being euthanized? I’ve had 3 dogs pass and I’ve been dying to know if my furry friends are really passing in the most painless way possible.
I think I might have to fight your father behind a local Denny’s.
Is your father a veterinarian? Anesthesiologist? Anybody with any sort of training or knowledge relevant to the field?
Or does he just have ‘opinions’.
The euthanasia solution we use in veterinary medicine is an anaesthetic overdose. The animal is anaesthetised, meaning it is unconscious and feels nothing, and then because it’s an overdose, it passes away. And it all happens fairly fast.
The animal might experience:
The prick of the needle/catheter going into the vein.
A brief period of light headedness or euphoria (5 seconds)
A bitter taste in their mouth (5-10 seconds and not all of them).
How do we know this? Because the same drug was historically used in a not-overdose way to anaesthetise human patients, who can describe their experiences. It’s an anaesthetic. They don’t feel their death.
There are a number of things that can happen after death that look super weird or confronting if you’re not expecting them, but they’re not experienced by the animal at all. They all happen after cardiac or brain death, at which point the animal just isn’t here to experience them.
Releasing bladder and bowels
Skin twitching
Eyes open and pupils dilate
Agonal gasps- these occur when the heart has stopped and look like a big gasp or mouth twitch. They look kind of bad, but the animal is dead by this stage.
Listen, I am frankly furious at your father’s insinuation.
Euthanasia is death. It’s the nicest, smoothest, most controlled death we can offer. It’s infinitely better than starving, drowning in your own bodily fluids, lying about in pain getting bed sores, waiting for the cancer to consume you or your heart to fail.
It’s still a death, but it’s the best one we have to offer.
So your father can fight me.

I'm noticing how white supremacy shows up in various spaces of my life. Something as base, as intimate and personal as love isn't untouchable by the systems we're raised in. Sometimes it may feel like our partners don't love us, don't show us their love. This is possible but I invite you to consider what love means in different cultures. How different families show love and care for each other, and letting go of dominant white/eurocentric displays of love. In some ways households, families are very physically affectionate with lots of hugs and cuddles. It makes sense that children from these families will grow up to show their love and affection similarly. Some cultures are less physically or verbally affectionate. Families show love and care by supporting each other in more practical ways. Are you hungry? Have you eaten? Let me get you something to eat! Could be another way of saying, I love you. For some families love is centered around faith and spiritual or religious practices. Think about the ways your parents show love and care. Were they raised in a different culture or context than you? bell hooks talks about how real love consists of care, recognition, respect, commitment, trust, and honesty. Truly, all of these components can be found in loving families around time and space! Even if the actual practices vary. See the ways your partner shows love that you hadn't seen before. Get curious. Give thanks. . . . #gratitude #love #loveiscultural #interconnected #interracialcouple #multicultural #multiculturalfamily #blendedfamily #bicultural #thirdculturekid #globalization #bilingual #multilingual #relationships #relationshipgoals #family #familysystems #selfcare #selflove #acknowledge #lovelanguages #bellhooks #allaboutlove (at East Texas) https://www.instagram.com/p/CKKJTlpD2zX/?igshid=tzi4pcqkzs9d
