Hahaha, I don’t know how long ago this question came in because I don’t check my asks as often now so sorry for the late reply!

Fandma is doing great! I got her hooked on Korean dramas that she watches constantly and she is currently reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. She gets very angry whenever the movie is not exactly like the book and incredibly confused when I try to ask her what house she thinks she is in.

Otherwise, because she lives with me, we’re all in quarantine to help keep her safe so my whole family is working from home and she likes having us all here. We bake bread and cake and cookies a lot. Overall, she’s doing well and going strong in her own fan club ways. :)

Fandma Reading Throne of Glass Thread

I started reading The Assassin’s Blade to my grandma a week ago and we’re halfway through. She is loving the adventure and fighting and Celaena’s power. 

Probably the best thing about it though is everytime Celaena thinks of Sam she’s like:

I’m about 350 words into a unusually... lemon-y (to use and fandma term + i really don’t need more prontybots following me based on keyword searches) rebelcaptain almost!fic.

Like... I don’t even know what to do with this thing.

I wrote a prompt and submitted it to a kink meme because I didn’t want to write it myself.  (because I’m a terrible writer - as in I never finish things, stories, chapters, sentences, etc) but then I just started jotting down notes on it and it has become A 300 Word Thing.

I don’t think it makes much literary sense.  Doesn’t have the structure of an actual story.  But there it is, a jumble of words in a scrivener document.

Issues:

I kind of want to share this idea because I think it’s a neat idea

I doubt anyone is interested in random half-formed prompts/headcanons

I wrote shit but it’s not in a format that even I would want to try to read

I should be working on that nano thing

i feel like a failure for not being able to translate this story idea into an actual story

I have trouble writing narratives that don’t sound like i’m taking a history

i excel at being concise + descriptive + brief ie describing exactly what needs to be described and only what needs to be described in the fewest number of words possible.  I feel like that’s a handicap for a fic writer.

I get wrapped up with thoughts like ‘Can that particular persons arms reach that far?’

google rabbit holes are my downfall - how tall is this actor? how much does that one weigh? i can’t write this until I draw this scene out.  now i need to download a drawing app.  oh no i don’t have the right stylus.  is should wait until after sunday to write so i can go buy those art models with the movable joints.... etc.

Been thinking a lot about music and how certain areas in BOTW have slowed versions of themes from other games/character specific themes (I.e dragon roost island theme in Rito village, the flight range and lookout post respectively having slowed versions of revali and urbosas themes respectively. The lost woods, Epona’s Song being played by Kass at stables and ofc hyrule castle having both Zelda’s Lullaby and the typical legend of Zelda theme itself, as well as how Fi’s theme plays when you first get the master sword)

and I just.... love how they utilize the music??? Zelda music has always been my favorite but I’ve been kinda just standing in one place listening to the themes in BOTW as a way to just sort of be present with myself. (Recently, I’ve been hanging around at the Lookout Post and listening to the slowed version of Urbosa’s) and God I love this game and the franchise

Encanto was good. Idk if anyones pointed it out yet, but as a disabled person, this film hit so fucking hard? Both Luisa and Isabela’s characters are trying to be strong/perfect but they aren’t. Nobody is, but from a disabled perspective, Mirabel and her lack of a ‘gift’ is effectively a good allegory for being disabled and not having the same abilities as others

Anyways go see this movie. It was so fucking good and made me bawl my eyes out

Fandma update:

So I was gone for a week and I when I get home I hug my grandma and ask how it was to have the house all to herself and this is what she says, verbatim:

“It was awful! It felt like a morgue! I had no one to talk to, no one to read to me, no Celaena or Dorian to laugh at! How dare you do this to me!”

So we kept reading throne of glass today because she’s getting really impatient, just thought y’all would like to know.
