Martin: I had no idea you would, that you could – I mean obviously you look fantastic doing it –
Douglas: Fantastic and lethal.
Caroline: Yeah, those sticks definitely count as sharp objects.
Theresa: Just ordinary knitting needles.
Martin: Yes, but you ´re the least ordinary person I know.
Douglas: You´ve beaten a pretty stiff competition there, Theresa.
Theresa: I appreciate the compliment, Martin. In return, please accept these –
Arthur: – sleeping bags for otters? That´s brilliant, Theresa.
Theresa: – socks. To warm your icy feet.
Arthur: But otters can do that too.
Douglas: Sure, if you skin them first.
Arthur: No, Douglas. Otters used to dry and warm the feet of St. Cuthbert. You see, he liked to pray standing neck-deep in the sea. And so his feet got really cold. It´s all in St. Bede´s.
Douglas: Carolyn?
Carolyn: Yes, Douglas?
Douglas: I know that imitation is the deepest form of flattery, but what´s going on?
Carolyn: Are you asking me whether you´ve taught Arthur how to come up with bizarre otter stories?
Douglas: Yes.
Carolyn: No. He just started following QI on Twitter.

Bing Bong
Hi chaps! This blog was born of the two of us (namely @wellamarke and @sircarolyn) missing the Good Old Days of fandot creativity nights and the general Cabin Pressure-y goodness that would go on, so we now present: a new monthly Cabin Pressure Challenge!
•••••••••••••••••••
Rather than everyone needing to be online at the same time, we’ll post a handful of prompts on the 19th of each month which can be used whenever, just as an excuse to get ourselves (and whoever else would like!) writing about our favourite airdot again.
•••••••••••••••••••
This isn’t designed to replace FCN, because if those ever come back on a one-off or regular basis, we’ll be there! But it’s just something similar that we felt we could provide in the meantime. We are forever indebted to @iwanttotieyourshoe, @madnina, @brilliant-tomato, @clairedrawsairdraws, @jay-eagle, @biancaicaras and everyone who was involved in running Fandot Creativity. In a way we’re just trying to give something back to you :)
•••••••••••••••••••
Anyway, since it’s the 19th today, we thought it would be a good time to announce our vague intentions, although we haven’t really finalised much beyond “This Is Going To Happen”! The first proper prompts will be posted on 19th June, and to kick things off there will be new prompts every day for the week leading up to Summer Christmas (25th June). Exciting, yes???? Humour us, please.
•••••••••••••••••••
Of course, as with FCN, writing and art and anything else you can create will be welcome for any of the prompts. This sideblog will reblog everything it’s @tagged in or that appears in the thus-far-undecided #tag. If we miss something, drop us an ask or a PM!
•••••••••••••••••••
That’s it for now, probably. See you on the next 19th, when we will be a bit more organised (probably!)
Love, the airport x

for @cabinpressurechallenge prompt 10: “this is the last tea towel we have.” I do enjoy a deep and meaningful prompt
•••••••••
“This is the last tea towel we have, Arthur, so please, can you somehow not make a hole in it?”
“I don’t know. I don’t know how the other holes came, so I can’t really promise that it won’t happen to this one too. Can’t we just buy some more?”
“Well, yes, but not with the company logo embroidered on them. That was a one-time outsplashing after the first Birling Day, if you remember.”
“I think so. Wales beat Scotland.”
“Yes. And I thought that pack of twenty-five was going last me until bankruptcy, but miraculously, we’re twenty-four tea towels in and still afloat. Mind you, that’s more a testament to the short-livedness of the towels than to the viability of MJN. I— Arthur, what are you doing?”
“I’m drying this knife.”
“I see. Yes, I think I understand the holes now. But I’m left with a new question.”
“What’s that?”
“How on earth you haven’t severed your own fingers before now. No, give it to me, I can’t watch.”
“It gets them dry really quickly.”
“I don’t doubt it. I think it may be its own martial art, too, but that still doesn’t mean it’s good practice.”
“Practice for…?”
“No, I mean, sustainable business procedure.”
“Ah.”
“There, you see - all dry, and you can still read the company name.”
“It just doesn’t look quite as fun as my way.”
“Well, granted, but it’s much safer. For the tea towel, if not for you.”
“All right. I’ll try it.”
“See that you do. Oh! And give Douglas his tea in this mug, would you?”
“Why?”
“Just trust me – it will be worth it.”

Creativity Night Announcement
Hello, Fandot!
Next Creativity Night will take place in the fandot chat on Saturday 24th of November!
From 7 pm UK time (and for as long as people want to play), we will gather together in the chat room, give quick prompts to work on, then share with each other and give feedback.
We’re keeping the time for each prompt short so we can create a lot of different things in one night. This is just meant to be fun and can work as a writing/drawing exercise, so the plan is to not spend too much time on each piece.
You don’t have to create for every prompt, and people come and go at different times all night.
If a prompt triggers a more complex idea, feel free to work on it and post it later. If another prompt doesn’t speak to you, just skip it and wait for the next one, and if you just want to hang out in chat and give the creators some positive feedback, you are more than welcome to do so. Any questions? Drop me an ask or contact me in the chat and I’ll be happy to answer your questions. We also have a Creativity Night for Dummies post.
We hope to see you in the fandot chat Saturday the 24th!

Crosswords / Musical
*shamelessly stolen from John Mulaney*
It was unusually quiet in the portacabin. This was mostly due to the fact that Arthur was running some errands and Douglas was doing his logbook, copying a lot of the data from Martin’s entries.
Bookings had been scarce for the last couple of days, so when the phone rang both Captain and First Officer immediately looked at Carolyn who in turn looked at the at the caller ID, picked up the phone, said ‘hello’, waited two seconds, barked “Hush!”, and hung up.
“What was that?”
“That, First Officer Heffalump, was Captain Shipwright. He needed help doing a crossword puzzle.”
“And you shused him?”
“No, Martin, he needed a 4 letter word for ‘be quiet’. And now get back to work you two.”

CREATIVITY NIGHT REVIVAL PARTY????
This is kind of short notice. BUT!
Since it's almost been a year since the last CN and also life has settled a bit...
I'll be doing a CN tomorrow. Friday the 22nd at 7pm GMT/UTC whatever.
It'll likely still happen in the old Fandot chat since that's the most accessible I think.
Yep I am diverting the plane to fridays because I smell the smoke of responsibilities on Saturdays. But it also won't likely go back to being a monthly thing. Be warned.
Feel free to leave any suggestions for prompts or other things in the replies?

“Skipper, can we get a dog?”
“. . . What?” Martin’s a bit taken aback by the question as they were cuddling, he lifting up slightly away from Arthur to look at his partner.
“A dog. Can we get one?”
“Where is this coming from?”
“Well, we don’t have a dog. We should have a dog.” He answers in the most Arthur way he could, Martin not helping but smile at his boyfriend’s answer.
“I understand this, yes. But why?”
“Skipper, we’ve been living together for a few months. . . I haven’t been getting to see Snoopadoop as much. . .” He sorta trails off, a bit of a sad look hiding within his smile.
“Oh Arthur. . “ He sighs, kissing Arthur sweetly, hugging him tight, “. . . Let’s take a look around at some shelters tomorrow.” He says softly, Arthur hugging him tight.
“Brilliant!”

Fandot Creativity: Prompt - every you, every me and/or dogs
I kept messing up Arthur, so had to sketch the rest super quick (so not my best, but . . .It’s okay :) ).
I do so hope you enjoy!

Creativity Nights
Trading jokes with complete strangers?
That should have been fraught with dangers.
Besides, I do suffer from a crippling shyness,
bit like Martin with her Serene Highness.
But my fellow fandot fans were kind as angels.
