Hey I loved your 2022!Oz dating headcanon, I was wondering if you could write how Oz and Reader would be like together during thanksgiving or Halloween?

I'm sorry I went sorta crazy for Halloween a lot of ideas kept coming out and I struggled to reign them back in lol. Farrell!Penguin x Reader on Thanksgiving/Halloween Headcanons

Thanksgiving:

Oswald never really cared for holidays in the traditional sense. He only cared in terms of how his club was gonna turn out. A lot of loners flock to the Iceberg Lounge to forget their loneliness (meanwhile a lot of family men flood 44 Below to forget the pressures their family relationships bring)

But when he’s with you, he finds another reason to enjoy them. It’s a chance to spend sometime with you. 

For Thanksgiving, if you enjoy cooking, Oswald will make it a point that every Thanksgiving he will set aside the evening to eat Thanksgiving dinner with you. It’s up to you whether you let him help you or not. It took a lot just to convince him you enjoy cooking and that it’s not a chore. You want to do it to show how thankful you are to have him. 

He loves seeing you all dressed in an apron, plain white shirt and sweat pants. Singing along to some song on the radio as your busy cooking in the kitchen. It makes him feel at home, he can drop the weight he burdens on his shoulders and be with you. 

If you don’t cook, you best believe Oswald already has alternate plans. The best seats to your favorite restaurant in town and if they’re closed— well they’re no, they are not..Oz will make sure of it. 

Even though you two have dinner almost every other night together, Thanksgiving is a little different. You both get to sit and reminisce on your time together, all your trials and tribulations, the laughs and smiles, the highs and lows. They’re all worth it for these moments together. 

Halloween:

Halloween should be a national holiday, atleast for Gotham. Oswald expects his club, both the Iceberg Lounge and 44 Below to be crawling with freaks, crooks, colorful characters and everyone in between, moreso than usual. Plus he has to stay more vigilant if someone decides to cause too much trouble.

You’re aware of Ozzie’s need to stay at his club for the holiday, but that doesn’t mean you can’t join in on the fun in your own ways. 

If you’re not into the night life or the vibrant club scene. You’re content with staying home until Oz feels it’s safe to get away. You enjoy seeing all the children’s costumes when they come to knock on your door or as you see them walk down the sidewalks. 

Ozzie is calling you constantly to make sure you’re safe and sound. There’s more crazies out on Halloween than any other night, and he’d rather they all be at his club than anywhere near you. You constantly have to reassure him you’re okay, and that you’re waiting for him patiently.

When he does finally come home, you are quick to hug him and start helping him unwind. Halloween was always a stressful time. You’re quick to draw a bath for the two of you, alongside a bowl of candies for the two of you to share while you pamper him. If nothing else, Halloween is a big turn out for the Iceberg Lounge and a chance for you to spoil your man.   

However, if you are comfortable with the club scene, you best believe you’ll be at the Iceberg Lounge yourself with Ozzie. You have already made several appearances at the club, most likely everyone knows you. They also know your Ozzie’s and if they dare look at you the wrong way they’re dead. 

One year you went for a penguin-like costume. You wore a skintight full-body suit that had the feather patterns of an emperor penguin, even with a little tail feather on the back. The long sleeves of the suit curved at the end to look like flippers, with a tiny zipper on the edge so you could get your hands out. 

When you show up, Oz is absolutely tickled at your costume this year. He laughs full-heartedly as he pats his knee for you to sit on. He grins up at you with pride as he wraps his arm around your waist. Needless to say, he adores your costume. 

You always look gorgeous no matter what you dress up as, but the fact you dressed up as his moniker he can’t help but boast in pride and fall just that much more in love with you. You definitely make this hectic holiday easier on the old bird.

the more of you there is, the more he can grab at. he's always been a fan of the way bodies jiggle when he ruts into them so this just makes the whole experience better. and look, so your clothes don't fit as well anymore. how is that a problem? the solution is simple: don't wear clothes anymore. you can feel perfectly fine to walk around naked in front of him, in fact it is preferable

this is nothing more than a fluctuation or a slightly different state of your body. human biology would dictate that there is no stasis in the human form. as for the clothes, what a delightful little problem to solve. to be fair, your wardrobe was rather drab. not nearly enough patterns or green. maybe this is the push you needed to become more extravagant, and he is more than happy to help you achieve that

oh would you like to be his gym buddy? he's a big fan of working out. and spending time with you, in tight clothes, getting all hot and sweaty and grunting OOF. he can make up a routine for you both! he can spot you if you'd like, and then spot you again in the locker rooms, maybe spot you in the shower cubicle too, maybe again once you're both home? or in fact, he actually knows a super good workout that requires too people and a whole lot of effort...

yes. he has noticed. and yes. he is very intrigued. look if he's being honest, your clothes could stand to be a bit tighter anyway. he hates to sound "old-fashioned" and "sexist" but he would rather you wore some form-fitting clothes that showed off your figure than the baggier things you're usually walking around in. plus whatever you think you've gained, you're carrying it well.

oh! ok well his wardrobe is filled with big t-shirts and hoodies and he would be so happy to see you walking around, smelling like him. if you want, he can help you find some new clothes that suit you better. he'd spend all of his money on you, just to make you happy. but uh...if it's ok for him to say, you look extra soft and huggable like this and if it's not bothering you too much, you could consider staying that way

Reader Embarrassing The Penguins:

Arkhamverse Penguin:

- Oswald was bending his men’s ears so far back, they might as well have fallen off. 

- Nightwing apparently ruined their trip to the docks to retrieve a shipment of weapons. 

- Veins along Oswald’s neck and hands were popping. 

- "Hey Ozzie wozzie! I was just wanting– oh! So sorry I didn't know you were having a meeting! 

- Oz's face instantly went white as a sheet as all the blood and heat from his anger was drained. 

- He looked over his shoulder, a slight shaky smile on his face. "Uhh yeah..its all right, love. I'll be with you in a minute, yeah?" 

- You nodded beaming happily as you closed the door. 

- Some hushed snickers could be heard from his men

- Only for them to be silenced by a slamming fist to the table.

- "I better not hear a peep out of any of you about that…or else you're all gonna be lunch to the Croc! Now…back to business."

Reevesverse/Farrell Penguin:

- I am not entirely sure why, but I can imagine this Oz likes beating you to the punch?

- He knows how you normally greet him, especially when you usually assume he’s alone. 

- So as a countermeasure if he’s in a meeting or is talking to security, he beats you to the pet names. 

- “Yes, sweetheart?” “What’s going on, sugar?” 

- However, that doesn’t always stop you from throwing in a “pengy baby”, “my handsome penguin”, and of course a personal favorite; “daddy”.

- Oz may scratch the back of his neck nervously, but chuckle all the same. 

- It can be somewhat embarrassing but he adores you too much for it to get to him. 

- Nobody better ridicule you or himself when you do it, or there will be hell to pay. 

- He also doesn’t care if his men get annoyed, they just better keep it to themselves. 

Gotham Penguin:

- Okay, but no seriously…could you not? 

- It’s hard enough as it is to appear intimidating and go by “The Penguin”. 

- He knows you mean well, you don't really think twice about his reputation…

- You just see your sweet, endearing, and loving Oswald. 

- Oswald would be having a meeting with his people at the long dining table. With Butch standing at his side. 

- You come in cheerfully to see Oz, without even noticing he's in company. 

- "Hey Ozzie!" 

- Silence fills the room, a pin could be heard.

- Oswald tried to remedy it by patting your hand and telling you he won't be long…

- You nod and lean in to kiss his cheek before running off.

- He shoots daggers to Butch who continues to chortle under his breath.

BTAS Penguin:

- He’s stuck between lovestruckness and slight embarrassment. 

- Oswald doesn’t want you to stop, but knows he probably needs you too.

- He does have somewhat of a reputation to uphold in the criminal underworld. 

- Oswald adores that you are so comfortable and adore him enough to bless him with a pet name. 

- He won't be harsh or short with you, even if he's griping to his henchmen. 

- It will literally be night and day the way he interacts with you and his henchmen.

- "You fools! If your absolute incompetence continues to hinder my schemes, I will-!" 

- "Oswald? Where are you my handsome pengy?" 

- The slightest snicker comes from one of his men and Oswald is quick to silence them with a terrifying stare. 

- If they mention this incident to anyone, they will be bird food.

TNBA Penguin:

- Not that he doesn’t appreciate the sentiments…

- He just can’t exactly reciprocate them at the moment when he’s trying to take charge. 

- There are moments he won't mind, like if he's entertaining guests at the Lounge.

- Oz would lavish in the adoration you're giving him, and it shows a different side to him. 

- He's likely to tell you beforehand if he's discussing things with more…dangerous individuals. 

- It's more or less to protect you, but also to ensure you don't let any pet names slip up. 

- Whenever it does happen, he still keeps his cool meanwhile he's trying to hide his blush and not stammer his words.

Telltale Penguin:

- Why? You know how embarrassing this is for him!

- “Hey Ozzie wozzie, I was just wondering-”

- “No..no..don’t say another word.” 

- You honestly revel in his exasperated head shakes and exhausted sighs. 

- He won't ever admit it, but he does actually like it deep down. 

- He likes the fact you're comfortable enough around him to tease and mess with him. 

- The fact that you love him so much and in such a way that warrants you to give him stupid cute nicknames. 

- Sometimes he's agitated whenever you do it in front of his crew.

- But his crew knows better not to mention it ever again after an incident.

One Bad Day Penguin:

- Oh boy…

- God it’s a good thing you’re cute, it makes you get away with…well everything. 

- He’s wiping his face and pinching the bridge of his nose. 

- It’s not like he can stop you. 

- Oz does find it incredibly adorable. 

- He can't help that his face may flush just slightly. 

- Kinda like Farrell Penguin, he's also likely to dish it back to you with cutesy pet names.

- The only people allowed to tease him or mess with him about it are Lili and Freida.

The Batman (2004) Penguin:

- Ozzie groans as a cringey chill went down his spine. 

- Really? "Ozzie wozzy??"

- And in front of his criminal peers in jail? 

- You do realize he's got a reputation to protect, right? 

- He's gone toe to toe with Batman, Joker, Riddler, and even had a rag-tag team of villains of his own! 

- Oh but that…that doesn't stop you from doing it…

- It gets to a point that he doesn't even debate you or show his disdain for nicknames at least in public.

- He just becomes defensive whenever people tease him about your nicknames for him. 

- "What're you laughing at? You're just jealous!"

Batman Unlimited Penguin:

- This Oswald takes a minute to respond. 

- He’s still getting used to the foundations of a relationship…

- He completely disregarded the usage of pet names and when and where they’re appropriate to use. 

- It takes awhile for Oswald to get used to your nicknames…but they make him feel absolutely elated.

- He may be embarrassed if you do it in front of others...

- But only for a moment...because embarrassment is quickly replaced with adoration.

- If anyone mocks him or you for your endearments he's swift to silence them. 

- He's gone far too long with affection, far too long he's yearned to be addressed lovingly. 

- Oswald would be damned if he let some random henchperson or passerby get in the way of that.

Hi there! First time asker on any blog really.

I just wanted to ask how any various versions of the Penguin would think of an S/O who’s really knowledgeable about paleontology, sharing little facts 24/7 and always rambles about dinosaurs/prehistory?

I always love seeing your posts, they’re a joy to read and BTAS Ozzie’s always been a favorite of mine.

A/N: not the Jurassic Park theme playing in my head when I read your request asdfgh. Jurassic Park was a huge part of my childhood and your girl for a minute wanted to be a tiny blonde-haired Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler love child, but alas…twas not meant to be. I did some research just to refresh my memory and…why do some of these pengys have something to do with museums and exhibits lmao. Almost every single Penguin has infiltrated a museum, enclosure, or exhibit…like…popular theme or nah?

Penguins w/ a Reader Interested in Paleontology:

Arkhamverse Penguin: 

- I mean…who else did you think helped him set up his museum in Arkham City? 

- Oswald was always intrigued by the research, dedication, and knowledge it took to explore vast locations for just a smidgen of evidence that prehistoric life lived there millions of years ago. 

- He chuckles at the thought of any caveman imagining a world of skyscrapers with men dressed intentionally as a damn bat swooping from the rooftops. 

- He breaks into a full on laughter if you inform him they’ll likely hunt Batman down and try to have him for dinner. 

Reevesverse/Farrell Penguin:

- This Oswald is always interested in hearing whatever your passionate about. 

- Just to see your eyes light up, to hear the excited hitches in your voice. He finds it all just absolutely adorable. 

- He also enjoys helping you translate certain languages that come up when a new creature is discovered or if you struggle pronouncing a certain country or region. 

- Don’t be surprised if you see little dinosaur figures or plushies around you shared living space as small surprised for you. 

Gotham Penguin: 

- Oswald is always intrigued in learning people’s strengths (usually in order to swiftly counteract them or make it someone’s weakness but not here…not now)

- He enjoys listening to you ramble about the latest discovery or your hypothesis of where certain fossils will be. 

- He loves beaming at you, asking you questions, just to keep you rambling. It allows him time to not think so much.

- Just be able to enjoy the moment as you share something you’re deeply passionate about with someone you care about dearly. He appreciates that more than you could ever imagine. 

BTAS Penguin:

- Oswald would have so many questions. Who needs the Discovery Channel or National Geographic. You sound far more passionate and sweet to listen too than any of those robotic narrators. 

- I imagine he would absolutely swoon as you explain the genealogical history of his beloved birds. How they're the modern day dinosaurs that surpassed millions of years of evolution to live and thrive today. 

- Oswald's unlimited adoration for his fellow aviary allies grows tenfold, as does his admiration of you. 

- I can see the two of you discussing various time periods and matching each other to certain extinct species of that particular time period. 

TNBA Penguin: 

- This Oswald absolutely admires the vast knowledge you hold. 

- I wouldn’t put it past him that one of these years, he’ll fund for you an opportunity to participate in a dig. 

- He appreciates your dedication to such a sophisticated and distinguished study. How are we to evolve and see what’s to come if we don’t look back on the past? 

- Oswald enjoys learning different subjects, and if it means he gets to hear you all day as well…that’s the best of both worlds. 

Telltale Penguin: 

- Oz always knew that you’d take a serious interest in paleontology. 

- When you guys were kids you always enjoyed playing with the dinosaur toys. You two used to bury them in the ground and pretend to dig up the fossils. 

- He’ll listen to whatever you have to say, anything to see you smile. 

- He does find the “big, bad” animals of prehistoric times to be the most interesting. Expect him to ask about those a lot, especially if you announce there was a new discovery. 

One Bad Day Penguin: 

- Ozzie finds it absolutely adorable, but also super intriguing. 

- He never really thought much about…the dinosaurs and how we have what we have somewhat do to their existence. 

- Now that he has you though, he’ll be able to get some questions answered. He’s particularly interested in the hierarchy shifts during certain periods. The food chain is usually are fairly fickle system. 

- Oswald will also go an extra mile to stay up to date, so he can add more to your conversations.

- He adores you and whatever passion gives you the most joy, and he wants to be able to participate. 

The Batman (2004) Penguin:

- OH COOL DINOSAURS

- I can imagine this pengy would absolute be gushing about dinos with you. 

- He’d ask you questions like; how big where they? Could they go against *insert other dino here* and no he doesn’t care that they didn’t exist in the same time period!

- Ok, ok, he does cause he understands your need for accuracy…but if you could give him atleast the hypothetical odds…

Batman Unlimited: 

- Oswald loves animals, I don’t doubt this Oz has dabbled in zoology (he…he literally formed an animal themed gang called the Animalitia…I rest my case)

- It almost seems like fate to run into you, someone whose borderline obsessed with paleontology. 

- Hours, upon hours, are spent discussing the bridge between the two studies. 

- For once he feels like he’s found someone that truly understands him. To say he’s also smitten is an understatement. 

- I don’t doubt this Penguin would also gift you paleontology related gifts; like claws, bones, and even a necklace of bracelet with a charm filled with amber.

A/N: Of course anon! Sorry this took some time to get to, I’m trying to get all the seasonal/festive requests done before the season is over and I got crazy, crazy busy needless to say like everyone else has been, and other...things…rip BUT Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

Christmas w/ The Penguins:

Arkhamverse Penguin: 

- It’s difficult to prepare for the season. 

- Oz is..crazy busy, almost all the way up to Christmas Eve or early Christmas morning.

- However, when the two of you start dating…he tries to make more of an effort to spend time with you.

- Especially after one year, despite the countless gifts he gave you, you made it known you just wanted to be with him the most. 

- He understands and promises to make time for you in time for the holiday.

- So while he isn’t always there to help you prep for the holiday. 

- Oz does make an effort to be there for you when he can and compliment your work when he can. 

- You’re pleased to see he’s still in bed with you on Christmas morning, after a sweet night out the night before.

Reevesverse/Farrell Penguin:

- Much like Arkham, he struggles at first to find the proper time to spend helping you prep for the season.  

- He definitely tries his best, but there are some years that he can’t get away. But you appreciate what time you get with him all the same. 

- When you do get him all to yourself, he’s there 100%. 

- He helps hand you decorations to put up. 

- He takes you out and about on the town (he’s silently taking tabs on whatever catches your eye in the window to get for you). 

- If you want to cook dinner, he’ll help prep you for it.

- If you don’t he’s already got it covered with a special night out. 

- You're always appreciative of the times you get to spend with him for the holidays

Gotham Penguin: 

- Oswald never cared much for the holidays.

- He found them to be a waste of time. 

- A distraction, something to take advantage of someone else who held the season in high regard.

- However, he’ll take…less of vindictive route now that he has you.

- It’ll take a couple years to warm him up to the season. 

- You can also count on Butch and Zsasz to get involved in getting the festivities going!

- Oswald’s the best to go to for ornament placements on the tree or where to place the tinsel or lights.

- He also comes up with the most original and thoughtful gifts. 

- It takes time, but once he's on board. Christmases with Oswald are special and loving. 

BTAS Penguin: 

- Oswald never did anything too grand for the occasion. 

- Spend the night with his birds, whom he’s given gifts for every single one. 

- Now with you, the season is much more precious than before. 

- He enjoys watching you decorate around the apartment. 

- Just seeing you so joyful and comfortable in a space with him makes his heart swell. 

- You can absolutely depend on Ozzie training his birds to come in at any given moment with a mistletoe. 

- Come Christmas morning, Oz never fails to melt your heart at his thoughtful gift.

- And Oswald adores anything you get him, just the fact you saw something and thought of him makes him beam with love.

- This holiday is a special day to show your love for one another. 

TNBA Penguin: 

- Normally, he’d just host a party in the Iceberg Lounge.

Drunk Night Out Headcanons with Farrell!Oz and GN!Reader:

Ozzie lives for these nights out with you. Things are calm at the Iceberg Lounge and 44 Below. He can actually unwind and relax and enjoy spending time with you.

Oz loves having you dressed up in designer outfits and watching them accentuate your body. 

However he very rarely gets drunk himself, he used to when he was younger. He’ll drink enough to get a buzz going, but never fully inebriated to where he can’t remember anything the next day. 

Besides he wants to remember you smiling, laughing, and dancing. Even especially during your drunken stupor. He also wants to keep an eye out for you. 

You deserve to have a fun night out and not have to worry about some scumbag trying to hit on you or try to contaminate your drink. Not only is he guarding your drink but he’s making sure you have a new one ready, along with a good dose of water in between. 

If you’re lucky, Oz will have just enough to drink to get a buzz and actually get up and dance with you.  He can be somewhat a hard ass at first but he always warms up to your ideas most of the time. 

And if anyone tries to cut in, Oz isn’t opposed to cutting them out, permanently. Frankly though, most people tend to keep to themselves when they see the two of you, mainly Oswald. 

It hasn’t stopped some drunken fools to try though, whether it’s to buy you a drink, dance with you, or even try to take you home. Very rarely does it get violent or deadly, just one glance over at Oz and even the drunkest patron sobers up real quick. 

As much as Oz wants you to enjoy yourself and let lose, he’ll know when it’s time to call it quits. He’s already prepared with a ride back home for the both of you. 

If you get sick, he’s ready with water and ibuprofen. He’s already got the trash bin ready in case you vomit. He’s also making sure you’re passed out in the proper position.

“Love…love…hey, Y/N! What’s distracting you, love?” Oz had a gloved hand slightly shaking yoru shoulder.

You shook your head slightly, slowling hushing the harsh comments from Oswald’s henchmen earlier. You were just doing Oz a favor and it ended up biting you back in a way you didn’t expect. 

“S-Sorry, just was remembering things from earlier…” You muttered softly. 

“May I ask what things?” 

You shook your head again. You didn’t want to get the guys in trouble. Yeah, they were assholes, but it also wasn’t their fault that your voice was the way it was. 

Oz gave you a flat smile, but nodded, not wanting to push the subject anymore. 

Oz attempted to change the subject, talk about the Iceberg Lounge, some of the rogues he managed to bump into. Yet, you only seemed to offer short and quiet replies. 

He hates when you do this. Oswald absolutely adores every thing about you. Especially your voice, he’ll never understand why you grow quiet sometimes. 

“C’mon, love. Talk to me, you know how happy it makes me to hear you…”

It was another night at the Iceberg Lounge. You and Ozzie were mingling with some of the guests. However, you soon realized your group wasn’t so accepting of you…or your voice. 

“My God, how can Cobblepot stand that walking whistle.” One guy joked. 

You were about to say something, when you felt a hand on your shoulder. 

“Simple. He loves this walking whistle. Especially her clear, sweet, shining voice. The only thing bringing the mood down is your tone of voice..” 

“Ozzie..” The red in your face flushing to flattery instead of anger. 

“O-O-Of course, Mr. Cobblepot…I-I didn’t mean any d-disrespect.” 

Oz didn’t respond. He just kept looking at the man dead in the eyes. 

It didn’t take long for the man to scatter along with his company. 

Your eyes widened. You may never quite get used to just how much influence Oswald had on others. Just how much people actually feared him, but it’s hard to find fear in someone you cherish. 

You hugged his side. “Thank you..” You said clearly, almost proudly. 

Oswald kissed the top of your head. “Don’t mention it, sweetheart. Don’t silence yourself for none of these punks.”

“That sounds splendid, darling…however…”

You looked up surprised. “What is it?”

“However…I’m going to need you to start speaking normally, my dove. I can hear you now in the serenity of our nest, but surely not in the company of others.” He insisted. 

“Oh, uh…well…” You bit your bottom lip. Trying to think of what to say instead of letting your insecurities come pouring out. 

“Darling, is everything all right?”

Oswald has a difficult time computing this. Like have…have you heard his voice? It sounds like his vocal chords are going through a cheese grater (his thoughts not mine, I love this wee gremlin). He knows his voice isn’t the most soft, tender, or elegant voice in the world, but it’s his and he’s proud of it. 

For you to have such a beautiful and bright voice, only to be so unsure about it to were you’re barely speaking above a whisper…it hurts him. 

“Hey, Y/N…why do you do that?” Oswald asked. 

The two of you had just gotten back to your shared apartment after a date. You had been whispering and speaking in a hushed tone all night. Often having to repeat yourself to him. 

“Do what, Ozzie?” You questioned as softly as a feather. 

“Like that! Whispering, all quiet. That’s not your normal voice.” 

You bit your lip, you managed to get through the whole night speaking in a more refined tone. You never suspected he would actually caught on to it. 

“Well, um…I just…” You sighed. “I didn’t want to ruin the night with my squeaks and shrills..” You mumbled. 

“You…” Oswald shook his head in disbelief. “You didn’t…you wouldn’t ruin the night. I missed your voice all night! I love your squeals and squeaks, they’re adorable! Just like you!” He exclaimed, waddling over to you and taking your hands in his. 

“Wait…really?” 

“Of course! Is that why you were talking all muddled and hushed? If anyone has a problem with your voice, they’re gonna have to answer to me about it!” He snarled. 

You giggled and combed your fingers through his spiky orange hair. “Thank you, Ozzie” You squeaked. 

“Don’t mention it, sweet thing. Glad to have your voice back!” 

Batman Unlimited Penguin: 

You really should know better than to speak so softly. His ears aren’t exactly what they used to be. 

“My dear, I’m sorry, could you say that again, perhaps a bit louder?” 

You two were in the middle of planning the grand-opening of the new aviary at the Gotham Zoo. You held the itinerary of the events and a spare map of the entire aviary. 

“Oh, uh…yeah, sorry, Oswald.” You stammered. 

“You’ve been speaking low and soft all day, do you have something ailing you, beloved?” 

“I-I-uh…no…not exactly. I-I’m fine.” You insisted, straightening out the papers in hand to try and focus back on the job at hand. 

Oswald had other ideas. He grabbed the items from your hand and shoved them down and out of view. 

“Oswald-I’m fine! Honest!”

He just looked at you, deep into your eyes. Oz’s eyes never wavered, but yours did. Your pupils constantly darting back and forth, left and right. 

“Y/N…I’d like to think we’ve grown close enough to discuss anything that troubles us.” 

Your heart sunk at just how hurt he sounded, not out of anger or sadness, just confused. 

“I’m sorry,” You piped up at normal pitch. “I-I didn’t mean to make you worry, I just know my…normal voice can be…a lot.”

“What do you mean, dearest? I can never get enough of your voice…has someone told you to change it?” 

“I-I, well, no…not recently anyway.” 

Oswald sighed. If anyone knew about the cruelities of human perception to even the slightest flaw or suspected abnormalities it would be him. 

He offered you a soft smile. “Y/N, my dearest, darling Y/N. I will always love you just as you are. Voice, and all. I would never ever ask you to change a thing. And anyone who has wish they could change something in themselves but can’t. And they weren’t worth your time or energy anyway.”

You found yourself smiling back at Oz. 

Oswald let his hand go from the documents and let you lift them back up to view. 

“Please, my love, one more time. With your one true beautiful voice.” 

You leaned down to the side of his face and gave him a kiss on the cheek. “With pleasure, Ozzie!”

As a hopeless romantic, you had wasted a lot of your time waiting on someone sweeping you off your feet. To the point where your friends often had a good laugh about your lack of experience, and how the experiences you had were all terrible. Pathetic men who didn’t deserve the time of day, but who managed to convince you that the affair was romantic enough that you could give yourself over to them.

And you’d been dragged to the Iceberg Lounge, an attempt by your friends to get you to give in to carnal urges instead of desperately seeking some classic novel inspired romantic relationship. Or as they had put it, “you needed to get laid.”

While they found their respective potential partners amid the myriad of strangers on the dancefloor, you leant against the bar, watching them have fun. If you were just a little bit less shy, you might have been able to push yourself into someone’s favours. But your inability to speak out, combined with your innocent face, soft cheeks and big eyes, make-up less since it was a skill you weren’t destined to master, this meant you were often left standing to the side.

Your eyes drifted to the other side of the room, searching for a blank space in the shadows to focus on, lest you make eye contact with someone and give them the wrong idea. But you were drawn to, and unintentionally settled on, a large man wearing an impeccable suit, watching over the club with a scrutinising stare. He oozed charm. And you recognised him, quickly placing him as Oswald Cobblepot, owner of the club, criminal, villain. Exactly the kind of man that would be the unlikely love interest in…No. Stop.

But you noticed he was staring back, and if you weren’t mistaken, looking you up and down. Perhaps he was acknowledging subtly that you didn’t look like you belonged. Everyone else was beautiful, glamorous, outgoing and flirty. As you wondered which of your flaws it was that set you apart though, he motioned with his hand, signalling a drink? Did you want one? You looked to your left and right before pointing at yourself, mouthing ‘me’ to just make sure, willing to embarrass yourself for clarity. He nodded slowly, starting to head towards you.

You turned around swiftly, knocking back the remainder of the drink you had ordered, trying to look at yourself inconspicuously in the mirror behind the bar, smoothing your dress at the front as you noticed he was coming up behind you. Turning, you felt your heart leap as you faced him.

“Oswald Cobblepot. And course I was talking about you, you see a nicer lookin’ dame here?”

He was so easy to talk to, completely charming, self-effacing enough that he was irresistibly endearing. Before you knew it you were two drinks down, an hour spent just talking to him. Without noticing, he had you on a stool beside him, leaning in, his hand on your knee, fingers teasing the skin as they trailed around softly.

“Listen, sweetheart. It’s too loud down here, I do my best work in a more…relaxed environment. What’s say we head up to my office?”

And you followed him. You didn’t even remember saying yes, although that was what you had intended to say. Desperately, completely, one hundred percent yes. It might not be a fairy-tale romance, but it did feel like you were being whisked away by a shining knight, but you needed to stop. This could just be a thing, a fluke, nothing might come of it, and that would be fine too.

Once in his office, you submitted to his charms again, sitting close by him on the sofa while he placed his palm on your thigh, letting it trail further up your leg before coming back down again to your knee, over and over again, inching a little bit higher each time he closed in on the hem of your dress. You were giggling more than you ever had, face blushing, subconsciously leaning forwards, into him, and exposing your cleavage, letting your fingers linger on his arm, licking your lips.

Despite the two of you being the only ones in the room, he still leant in to whisper in your ear.

“Wanna have some fun, sweetheart?”

“I’m already having fun, Mr. Cobblepot.”

“You’re easily pleased, huh?”

He let his lips find your neck, kissing deeper as you leant your head to the side, feeling hand find your hip, the other tracing the curve of your side before cupping your breast. His tongue, fast and firm, left your skin moist and tingling, teeth clenching into the skin as he sucked lightly. You knew there would be a mark, and you were excited at the prospect.

With your fingers tight on his shirt collar, you pulled him close, into you, desperate for him to take it further. And when his hands finally found their way back to your leg, you let your thighs separate slightly, indicating your willingness, your desperation for his touch. But there was a knock on his door. An interruption.

Oswald pulled back from you, an apologetic look in his eyes. You smoothed your dress and your hair, trying to cover where you thought the mark from his bite would be.

“Come in.”

“Sorry to disrupt you, Mr. Cobblepot, but there’s a uh…situation.”

“Ok, I’m coming, I’m coming.”

Standing from the sofa, he adjusted his jacket, shirt and bowtie before offering you a hand to pull you up beside him.

“I’m sorry to cut it short sweetheart, I gotta go deal with this. But there’s a notepad and pen on the desk. You be a good girl and leave your number.”

Waiting for him to leave before you moved, you headed over and put your name, number, and a small kiss on the paper before heading back down to the dancefloor, satisfied with the meet-cute, the romantic first touches, and the prospect of living out a steamy romance novel with Oswald Cobblepot.

Oswald’s office was eerily quiet apart from the gramophone playing out some swing classics at a low volume, something to soothe him while he worked. It was near impossible to concentrate though, and he kept finding his eyes drifting to the gold-plated clock on the wall, a gift from someone long dead by his hand. All he had to do was focus, get through the folder of information handed to him by one of his ‘inside’ guys, information he couldn’t just hand off to a lackey to sift through. But his mind was constantly drifting, watching the clock seemingly jump by half hours each time he glanced at it, swearing it had only been seconds. He said he’d be home by 8pm. It was now 11.30pm.

He pulled out his wallet, flipping through it for the picture of you he kept in there, stroking his thumb over it. It seemed a bit silly, maybe pointless, since there were pictures of you on the wall, and one framed on the desk. But the one in his wallet was his favourite. As he smiled down at it in his hand, he wondered if you were worried about him. You hadn’t texted, but you knew better than that. If he was busy, he’d never look at his phone. He had to keep it away from him, or the distractions would be endless. This was the longest he’d ever been late by, and he feared you might be really stressed, wondering where he was. One look wouldn’t hurt.

Oz began to stand from his desk when he heard the little ping of an incoming email. It was from you. You knew how to get in touch with him if you needed him, he thought, smirking to himself, clicking on the email.

I Miss You Hey Ozzie! When are you coming home? Don’t feel bad, but I made dinner. Yours can be warmed up later, though. I’m not bothered about that, but I miss you!!! Yours <3

Tapping at the keyboard, Oz left his reply with you, fingers rubbing his temples as the guilt threatened to give him a headache.

A renewed sense of focus, Oz lifted the files again, taking some vigorous notes before his mind slipped again, ruminating on the fact you missed him. There was someone, beautiful and in love with him, sitting alone in his house, waiting for him to return to shower him in affection and he was here, at work, ignoring you.

Another pang of guilt rang through his chest, anytime he felt you were in even the slightest of pain drove him crazy, but when it was his fault? He couldn’t cope. All he wanted was to get back to you, hold you in his arms, kiss you, feel you. Twice during a meeting with a prospective ‘partner’ he’d been so distracted thinking of the way he had left you in the morning, tiny nightdress on, the silk sheets clinging to your body, outlining your lower half under the sheets, face bare, peaceful, hair wild. He’d pressed a kiss to your forehead and left, knowing he’d get to come back to it later. That was more than 12 hours ago. He was growing impatient.

It’s a while before you reply again, giving Oz enough time to look at the files again, scanning them and taking nothing in. Disappointed that he’s not with you. Disappointed that he’s not finished his work. Disappointed that you weren’t distracting him anymore. Another ping had him scrambling to the his screen, desperate to hear from you, even if it was another message tinged with a sad tone.

Oz clicked on the little attachment, no thumbnail available, and he was glad. That would have been a tease, it would have ruined the surprise. He leaned in closer to his screen, cursing the fact that at his age, he should probably get some glasses for this kind of thing. But realistically, how was he to know that at midnight on a random night you’d be sending him the most lurid image of yourself, strewn over his desk at home, his favourite of your lingerie on, winking at him from behind the camera. He placed his hands over his face, rubbing them down and slapping his cheeks lightly, trying to focus on what he was doing, or at least what he was about to do. If he could just get over thinking about you, he could rush through the rest of the papers and get home to you.

Oz was staring into the camera when you arrived on screen. Still wearing the outfit from your picture, he groaned when he saw you.

“Listen, sweetheart, I’m so sorry. But that, this, it’s a little unfair don’t you think? I mean come on!”

“If you’d been home when you said you would be you wouldn’t be missing it. I told you I’d made you dinner.” You winked at him, giggling at your own line. As much as it made you cringe to flirt so outrightly, you knew it drove Oz wild.

“Oh, baby. You’re killing me here. How am I supposed to finish my work now with you lookin’ like that?”

“I think you deserve a little bit of punishment, maybe a better look at what you’re missing?”

“That so? You show me then, dollface. Show Daddy what you have waiting for him.”

Standing up from his desk chair you turned, back towards the camera, pushing the chair further back from the desk, ass out the whole time.
