Fast hair growth methods
Some people’s hair grows very hard. There is not even a method that they did not do to extend it. In fact, diet, regular grooming and cutting have great effects on the growth of your hair.
watch what you eat
In order for your hair to grow fast, you should choose protein-based foods. Foods such as meat, milk, eggs will not only facilitate hair growth, but will also help in its nutrition. Also avoid caffeinated and alcoholic foods. Caffeine and alcohol cause damage to your hair.
Take care of your hair while in the shower
Do not wash your hair with very hot or cold water. Hot water does not activate your hair follicles. Therefore, choose to wash your hair with lukewarm water. Because warm water allows the cells in your scalp to activate.
give a massage
The massage we will apply to your scalp is also of great importance in the growth of your hair. Since you have stimulated your scalp with this massage, your hair follicles will be revitalized.
for water
Consuming plenty of water has a great role in hair growth. Water not only benefits your health, but also nourishes your hair and makes it grow faster.
Get your fractures removed regularly
In order for your hair to grow fast, you should cut the ends of the ends at regular intervals. Excessive hair breakage causes delayed growth.
It is important to use it correctly
One of the important tips to remember is that you should apply the shampoo to the bottom of your hair and the conditioner only to the ends of your hair.
Stay away from shapers
If you want your hair to grow a little faster, you should not use spray and gel stylers for a while. When these substances reach the roots of the hair, they will cause your hair follicles to become clogged, causing them to grow more slowly.
7 recipes for hair growth
Masks made in natural ways help healthy and fast hair growth as well as healthy nutrition. With these 7 formulas, it is possible for your hair to grow healthily!

hi! no idea if you take asks like this but thought i'd try. i'm writing a transfem character in a fanfic (in canon they are a cis guy, i just headcanon her as trans), specifically about effects of estrogen. i'm doing a lot of research but i was wondering if there's anything specific you think would be important to know? ty in advance if you do answer! <3
oooh what a fun ask!
having recently taken a stab at writing some fanfic myself, i think the things that would be the most helpful are the things that are more anecdotal because i’d imagine those would be the things that would help get inside her head.
first, there’s a lot of stuff about some of the physical changes out there like softer skin, thinner body hair (but not necessarily less) boob growth, fat redistribution, changes to color perception, eyes and lips appearing bigger because of skin changes and fat redistribution etc. but also really important to writing a trans character is the pacing of the those changes.
the changes are slow. much much slower than most people want. there’s a specific frustration in the slowness because while some changes happen quickly, other take years. and also frustration in comparison. some people see changes within weeks or even days. some people don’t see anything for months or years.
in my own personal experience, everything happened FAST. within a few DAYS i had the beginnings of breast buds. within a few weeks skin had visibly softened and changed texture, especially on my face. but other things took more time. i didn’t really have real boobs until 2.5-3 years in, even though i saw other people with the same timeframe or shorter have much more breast development. the patience required can be excruciating but also the joy is overwhelming and it’s a constant cycle.
and another thing i don’t see talked about too much bc it’s hard to qualify and sometimes hard for some people to notice are the way i process emotions and the way i think about things. now HUGE caveat, some people will use this as a way to justify bio-essentialism and transmedicalism and so it’s very important to note that this is MY experience and uniquely interacts with my own journey.
when i started hrt, within a few hours of taking the first dose, i felt different. not physically, but almost as if there was a peace in my soul because my mind became less cloudy and i could differentiate my emotions more clearly. and i used to think this is because t-blockers means no t and no t means less angry but trans mascs would tell me that their experience with t is the same and not the opposite. i’ve now realized that kind of thinking was actually invalidating to trans mascs on t. and ive realized that its actually because testosterone didn’t feel right in my body and removing it from the equation helped me understand myself better. i had always experienced emotions in this way and my discomfort with my body had stopped me from understanding the complexity and nuance with how i was feeling.
and it took me YEARS to understand what had happened. and it happened alongside of being in therapy and a lot of personal growth. hrt was the catalyst but it was the effort i put into growth that made the difference.
if you have any more questions, i’d love to share more cause i think it would be fantastic if more people who were not trans fem would be able to write trans fem characters with substance, nuance, and complexity! it’s difficult but important and thank you for attempting to do so and approaching this with respect!

Pair: Taehyung x F Reader

A/N: Bold is for flashback.
WC: 1410
You couldn’t believe it. You just couldn’t believe it.
You have sworn something was wrong. You knew something was odd with your body and when your period skipped the next month, you went straight to the pharmacy. In a box, there were three test kits.
And when the timer beeped, you stared at these three test kits, all holding the same result.
Pregnant. 7 weeks.
In shock, wouldn’t be a safe word to use. You were filled with mixed emotions. You and Taehyung have been trying for almost a year now. You were almost certain you couldn’t conceive. Your periods have never been regular and it wasn’t an easy feat through when your menstruation cycle was around. So you had told Taehyung about your thoughts about having kids. Back then, the both of you were dating, and you knew Taehyung was big on having a family.
“Tae-”
“No, Y/N. It’s alright. We try and if we can’t, it’s okay.” Taehyung soothed you.
“But I know that you really want kids and I don’t think I will be able to give them to you.” Your doctors have told you that your body has been weak since young and due to the accumulated stress, it did not do the growth of your body well.
“Y/N,” Taehyung cupped your face, bringing it closer to his. He suddenly squished your cheeks, making your eyes widen in surprise. “All I need is you.”
Staring at the three tests on the washroom counter, you had to physically hold yourself up by gripping onto the edges of the sink. You needed to make sure - make sure that it was real before you go running to tell your husband.
So you booked an appointment with your doctors and they told you the same thing the tests did.
“Around seven weeks.” Dr Kim had given you a soft smile, handing you the pictures of the ultrasound scan.
You headed out of the hospital after payment, brain yet to comprehend the knowledge you were given in a span of twenty minutes. You needed to tell Tae. Taehyung was the only thing on your mind.
Staring back down at your ultrasound scan, you truly couldn’t believe your eyes.
You headed to the nearest crafting store, picking out a ball of yarn, boxes, and crafting paper. Heading home, you were more careful than usual, afraid any sudden movements might hurt your child. Albit dumb if you were to tell your parents about what you were doing, but you couldn’t help but feel a little overprotective of the life growing inside you.
It was a little past four in the afternoon and you decided to take a bath to get rid of the hospital smell. After drying your hair, you turned the television on and knitted while watching the latest ‘Run BTS!’.
You stopped knitting after a while, placing your hand on your currently unnoticeable bump, saying, “That’s your dad and uncles. When you come into this world, you sure are going to be spoiled rotten.” You chuckled. You were the first among the girls to have gotten pregnant as of the information yesterday.
You had told Hwani, Jin’s wife, three days ago. News spread fast within the group but you were more surprised that the boys had yet to catch on, seemingly that all their girlfriends and wives were gossiping over baby materials.
Once you finished the little gift, you placed it in the box onto some crafting paper and the ultrasound. Wrapping the box with a ribbon, you proceeded to the kitchen to make dinner. Small, sharp barks could be heard as you walked to the kitchen.
You bent down to collect Yeotan’s bowls. He was extremely chirpy today, following you everywhere and constantly going in between your legs. If you hadn’t known better, you would have said he was being protective. Placing his food bowls back into the tray, you gave Yeotan a scratch between his ears.
Just as you finished setting the table, the door code chimed and Yeotan’s uncontrollable barking started again. You wiped your hands dry on your shirt as you walked out, greeting Taehyung with a kiss at the threshold of the main door.
“Well, it’s not like I don’t like it. Rather the opposite, honestly. But I’m tired Jagiya. I don’t think I can do it today.”
You rolled your eyes. “Can’t I just kiss my husband when he gets home?”
Taehyung looked at you suspiciously. “Of course you can but you normally have an ulterior motive.”
Let’s talk about selective hearing. It refers to hearing what you choose to hear and blank out everything else. You ignored the second half of the sentence, pulling your whiny husband to the living room and plopping him down onto the sofa.
“Babe…” He called you warningly.
You headed over to the coffee table, carefully picking up the elegantly wrapped gift and placing it in his hands. Taehyung’s brows shot up, disappearing between his hair.
“What’s this?” He took out his phone, confusion showing on his face. Oh, he’s always been an expressive one. “I don’t think I forgot anything? I swear today - is it our anni - wait no, that’s in three weeks.” Taehyung looked up with a face you knew too well.
The TaTa Mic face.
“Babe, I swear if I forgot anything, I’ll make it up to you.”
You sighed, caving into the look. If ARMY can’t even grasp a standing ground to the Tata Mic face, you surely stand an even lesser chance against it.
“You didn’t forget anything, love.” You pointed back to the box. “Just.. Just open it.”
Taking a deep breath, you watch as Taehyung undoes the ribbon and opens the box. Watched as his brows furrowed even more, lip jutting out in a pout at the sight of the mittens you have knitted this afternoon. Watched as the gears in his brain turned the moment his eyes spotted the ultrasound picture beneath it. And as if in slow motion, you saw Taehyung’s eyes enlarge the moment the pieces clicked together.
His head shot up so fast you were afraid he got a whiplash.
“Serious? Serious!” Taehyung dropped to his knees. Thank god there was a carpet on the floor. His hands were shaking as you grasped them in yours, placing them on your stomach. “Jagiya, Jagiya, you aren’t kidding with me, right?”
His eyes shone with so much light that it was blinding to see.
You shook your head.
“We’re going to be parents, Tae.” Your voice wavered, tears coming forth, spilling over onto your cheeks.
Taehyung looked down at your hands cupping your stomach and stared at it. He lifted your shirt in one motion, causing a gasp to fall from your lips. He brought his lips to your stomach, kissing it gently.
“Hi, babyyyy…” Taehyung cooed. “You’re going to be the prettiest baby ever.”
You chuckled.
Taehyung got up from his knees, cupping your face and kissing your lips. “And you are going to be the best mom ever.”
“How do you know that?” You asked between his never-ending kisses.
Leaning your foreheads together, Taehyung answered in his most famous way, “‘Cause it’s you.”
You smiled.
At that moment, you were surrounded by love. You have never felt so high on such a joyous emotion before. As you looked down at Taehyung talking to your stomach, you felt so, so, so, grateful for the future you created together. Through thick and thin, the both of you have found a way to strengthen your connection, working together.
The warmth of his love and joy radiates the whole house. And as your eyes locked, it was as if nothing else mattered at that moment - only you, Tae, and your unborn baby. Time seemed to still as the both of you looked at each other, so much affection and excitement in one’s eyes.
And you knew - you just knew - that you were going to be okay. That as long as you had Tae by your side, you were going to be okay.
As the both of you got up from the sofa, Tae suddenly pulled you into his arms, stopping you from walking any further from him. “You know what I said just now at the door? I take it back. I can definitely do it today.”
Your cheeks turned deep red as you smacked his arms.
“Kim Taehyung!”
His bellowing laughter followed you all the way to the kitchen.

Hi, long time lurker, first time asker. Do time lords have the same skin and hair cycles humans have? Like do their skincells go trough keratinization and their hair trough the 3 stages of the hair cycle like with humans? And can those have the same issues aka to fast keratinization and hair not growing back?
Do Time Lords have the same skin and hair cycles as humans?
Yep - the skin and hair cycles of Time Lords do run a little parallel to human cycles, but with some key differences, obviously.
(I also don't know how this got so long, I apologise in advance)
🙋 Skin Cycles and Keratinisation
Just like humans, Time Lords' skin cells undergo a process called keratinisation (or cornification). This process involves the transformation of living cells in the epidermis into a tougher, dead layer of cells that forms the outermost skin layer. Here's a breakdown of the process:
1. Stratum Basale (Basal Layer)
Human Comparison: This is the deepest layer of the epidermis, where keratinocyte cells are made through mitosis.
Time Lords: In Time Lords, the Stratum Basale is thicker, meaning it contains more cells capable of rapid division. This increased cellular activity probably leads to a greater production of keratinocytes.
2. Stratum Spinosum (Prickle Cell Layer)
Human Comparison: Keratinocytes in this layer begin to produce keratin and are connected by desmosomes, making them look a little spiky.
Time Lords: The cells in the Stratum Spinosum of Time Lords have denser keratin. This suggests that from an early stage, their keratinocytes are more heavily laden with keratin, providing stronger structural support and better protection against physical and environmental stressors.
3. Stratum Granulosum (Granular Layer)
Human Comparison: In this layer, keratinocytes begin to flatten and accumulate dense granules of keratohyalin and lamellar bodies, which are part of forming a lipid barrier.
Time Lords: Time Lords' keratinocytes in this layer might produce even denser keratohyalin granules and more robust lipid layers, improving both the structural integrity and the barrier function of their skin.
4. Stratum Corneum (Horny Layer)
Human Comparison: This outermost layer consists of dead keratinocytes that have become tough and water-resistant, forming a barrier against the environment.
Time Lords: The Stratum Corneum is thicker in Time Lords, and would be packed with dead, keratin-filled cells, giving superior protection and durability against harsh environment.
5. Stratum Opici (Additional Layer) [may be renamed when reviewed]
Time Lords: This unique layer acts like a trampoline, 'bouncing back' foreign objects. While it doesn't directly affect keratinisation, it provides an additional defence mechanism, repelling potential threats before they penetrate deeper skin layers.
🧬 Biological Theory of Keratinisation in Time Lords
Enhanced Basal Proliferation: The thicker Stratum Basale would make a larger pool of keratinocytes, initiating a strong foundation for the keratinisation process.
Early Keratin Density: In the Stratum Spinosum, keratinocytes rapidly begin accumulating dense keratin, giving them early structural resilience.
Granular Augmentation: In the Stratum Granulosum, keratinocytes might produce more abundant keratohyalin granules and lipid bodies, reinforcing the skin’s barrier properties.#
Superior Barrier Formation: The thicker Stratum Corneum ensures that the final layer of dead keratinocytes is robust, providing an unparalleled barrier against environmental damage.
Additional Defence Layer: The Stratum Opici has some supplementary defence by physically repelling foreign objects, preserving the integrity of the underlying layers.
💈 The Hair Growth Cycle
For those who aren't aware, humans, like many mammals, have a well-defined hair growth cycle consisting of three main phases:
Anagen (Growth Phase): This is the active phase where hair follicles are producing new cells, resulting in hair growth. This phase can last anywhere from a few months to several years.
Catagen (Transition Phase): A brief phase lasting a few weeks where hair growth stops, and the hair follicle shrinks.
Telogen (Resting Phase): The hair follicle remains dormant, and the old hair is eventually shed to make way for new growth.
Given the unique characteristics of Gallifreyan hair – tougher keratin, stronger arrector pili muscles, and larger hair bulbs with sensory nerves extending further up the hair shaft – we can deduce several knock-on effects on the Gallifreyan hair growth cycle:
Anagen Phase: The tougher keratin and more robust hair structure suggest that Gallifreyan hair is designed to withstand greater environmental stresses and maintain integrity over longer periods. This could imply that the anagen phase could be extended. This would mean hair grows for longer and remains intact for longer before entering the catagen phase.
Catagen and Telogen Phases: Considering the structural strength and slight sensory integration, the transition and resting phases might be adapted to minimise hair loss. The catagen phase could be shorter to reduce the time the follicle is inactive, while the telogen phase might involve a more efficient process of shedding and regrowth, ensuring that sensory capabilities are quickly restored.
Stronger Arrector Pili Muscles: Stronger arrector pili muscles - responsible for causing hair to stand on end - could impact the hair cycle by reinforcing the follicle's attachment during the anagen phase, further extending its duration and reducing hair loss.
⚠️ Common Issues
Despite their advanced biology, Time Lords can still experience issues similar to humans:
Rapid Keratinisation: If their skin cells keratinise too quickly, it could lead to conditions like hyperkeratosis in humans, where the skin becomes thickened.
Hair Growth Problems: Time Lords can suffer from conditions like alopecia (hair loss) or hypertrichosis (excessive hair growth). These conditions are usually present from birth or result from regeneration quirks.
🏫 So ...
While Time Lords definitely share some fundamental rules of skin and hair cycles with humans, their advanced physiology has several enhancements. However, they're not entirely immune to dermatological issues, which can be influenced by their unique biological and regenerative processes.

it lives where i live
part four
tags: healing, angst, hurt/comfort, childhood friends to ????, hopeful ending
wc: 2k
note: this was a weird thing for me to finish. i feel like i’ve changed so much as a writer and this chapter reflects that. i changed the pov for this chapter because i felt like it was important to see all of touya’s growth and inner turmoil directly. idk y’all this was my baby and it’s weird to say it’s done (also claps for bea for actually finishing a chaptered fic). alright love u be good
Tumblr media
Touya starts to get it.
He has no idea what it is–only that he feels different, and he thinks that’s a good thing, maybe. He assumes it is, because there’s been considerably more enthusiastic head nods from his therapist through his screen each week.
It’s new. The therapist, anyway–the Hero Commission sanctioned therapist’s check ins (a generous title, considering the lack of any real therapy) had fizzled out and stopped all together soon enough, and it was at the tail end of another one sided phone conversation with Natsuo that he’d heard of a shrink with a reputation for treating those who’d been harmed by heroes.
“She has a surprisingly booked schedule,” Natsuo had said, half in jest and not without a tangible weight. If nothing else, Touya was curious–and bored. With nothing better to do, he decided to try a session. Before he knew it, he’d sat through the better part of four.
He doesn’t talk much–mostly because he’d talked a whole lot on a national scale and really, what else could he possibly have to say?–but lately, he’s found himself full of questions he doesn’t know how to ask. It’s hard–he doesn’t feel particularly brave these days, and to get his mouth to shift into the shapes of the words is enough of a challenge. But he tries–he figures that has to count for something.
He wants to understand your anger. There’s a weight to it–one that smacks into him solidly every time he’s on the other end of it. He’s not unfamiliar with anger–he’s been pissing people off for years now. But yours is different. Yours is heavy–you hate him and you run your fingers through his hair when he hides his tears in the toilet bowl and heaves out everything he’s buried deep inside himself at two in the morning. It’s not so easy to wrap his head around that part.
“Your friend.”
It comes through the speaker as a statement and not a question, and he scowls. Is that what you are to him? He’d been so sure that he’d never had a friend. But that can’t be right, can it? When everyone had moved on and away from him, but you had not—was that your friendship? The word tastes bitter and unsatisfactory on his tongue, but he doesn’t have a better one. He nods.
“Is that so surprising, Touya?”
He says nothing, only glaring into the camera. She sighs, wholly unimpressed.
“Think about it. You’ve mourned someone and then they show up out of nowhere, and they’re not that person you’ve been keeping in your heart all of this time. It’s like…a second death.” She says, tapping a finger to her chin as if to summon the words. “Another cycle of grief on top of the first. That’s a lot to feel, no?”
And he…knows that. You’d made it pretty clear, of course, but he feels it, now–like a rash. Your grief sits on his skin and festers in a way that his did not. His burned hot and fast and left him empty, and he woke up without a thought of what the consequences of that fire would be. Yours hit him like a brick wall the second he stepped foot through your door. That brick wall only gave way to cement–unending, uncomfortable.
It feels wrong to interfere with it–like for all he took away from you, this is the least he could give you. He can handle the anger, of course–he can sit in your white-knuckled fury and let it close in on him. That’s fine.
The crying is another thing entirely.
It’s not as if Touya is a stranger to tears, either–he saw his fair share of them wet the faces of those he cut down. Just like the anger, it never particularly bothered him. Not like yours do.
And maybe it’s because he doesn’t see them. The only indication that there are tears comes when he lays completely still at night, and he can just barely hear your sniffles through the wall. Something about it feels bad–unfair, maybe, the way you wait until you think he’s sleeping to let out what you’ve been holding on to. He almost wants to laugh at you–he’s already put you through this much. He would deserve to have all of the aftermath be aimed right at him.
But to lie to himself is evidently not off limits, because it does affect him. Every once in a while he’ll hear a whimper that twists his gut into a tight knot. He thinks of the promise he made you, all of those years ago. He tries not to, but your crying fishes it back to the surface–his stupid, idiot promises to protect you no matter what. Only to become the knife that keeps your hands pinned to the table. He doesn’t know how to protect you from himself. He finds himself still taking from you.
“Alright,” he mutters, coming back to himself. “M’hanging up.”
His therapist only laughs. “We made it 20 minutes this time!”
.
..
He starts eating dinner with you. You’ve been dropping little half-invitations for the last few weeks, and he’s been readily avoiding them. To sit across from you at your table feels too much like a confrontation–and the cowardice that he’s become accustomed to shuts it down before he’s even had time to really consider it.
But tonight you’re eating on the couch in front of the TV, and that feels better. In the dark and with a distraction, he doesn’t have to fully face you. He can think of you and you’ll be none the wiser.
He sneaks glances at you from the other side of the couch and finds himself struck–not for the first time–at how for all of the ways you are different now, you are still the same as you were when he was 13. He knows it’s nothing to do with how you look and everything to do with the way that you are–an anchor that both terrifies and comforts him. He woke up in that hospital bed and knew you were there on the other side of the glass before he opened his eyes.
Is that what friendship is?
He shakes himself out of his head when he feels you squirming next to him. From the corner of his eye he watches you fight with the blanket you’ve swaddled yourself in, somewhere between amused and endeared. It’s an unfamiliar feeling and yet, it feels like he’s felt it toward you all his life. He gives you another second to sort it out yourself before he feels bad. He forgets where he is, he forgets himself–he doesn’t think at all when he wraps his fingers around your foot to free it from the fabric tangling it.
Both of you freeze. For an aching moment, neither one of you blinks. And then you wrench your leg away from him like he’s burned you.
“Sorry,” you mumble, already standing, already shaking. “Sorry, I just–”
But you’re already halfway down the hall–voice tapered off in an explanation he doesn’t need to hear you finish because he already knows. Your door shuts quietly behind you, but creates such a divide between you that you may as well have broken it off its hinges. He doesn’t have to be still to know what’s happening on the other side of it.
He can’t listen to you cry again. His body makes the decision before his mind does, and when it finally catches up he’s standing in the middle of your room.
You’ve gone completely silent–he’s not even sure you’re breathing. Rigid and curled into yourself, you look pitiful. Something about it is hard to look at. His stomach twists and before he can stop himself, he’s reaching for the covers and sliding into the bed next to you. He closes his eyes and his body forms to yours on a memory he doesn’t have but feels he must. You make a wounded sound like he’s just punched you.
“Touya,” it’s barely a whisper and wholly a warning. There’s so much pain in your voice it makes him nauseous. He ignores it, snaking his arm around your waist to pull you to him. “Touya–”
“Just let it out,” he murmurs, resting his forehead between your shoulder blades. “Please. Let it go.”
He feels you freeze–and then the breath leaves you so violently it startles him. He’s almost relieved when he hears the accompanying cry.
He keeps his head pressed to the curve of your back in some strange hope that he might absorb your grief into himself. If he could just carry this, it’d be better. For you, anyway–he’s certain that what you’ve been carrying around would be enough to put him down, but he’d drop dead at your feet if it meant you could be free of what he’s done to you.
His arm tightens around you when he feels you start to fight his grip. “The hell are you doing–”
“Please,” you whimper–only half audible through a tight throat–and it renders him silent. “I just need to see you.”
He can do nothing but let you twist around, and he immediately wishes he’d have fought you on it, because to see your face right now is too much.
Even in the dark your eyes find his and for the first time he can easily name the sadness that permeates into his bones. Sudden and tender like a wound, it’s only a second before he’s pulling you closer for his sake–anything to not have to see. He’d burn the whole world down to not have to see what he’s done.
It's odd, knowing that it’s not necessarily guilt he feels–instead it is a mountain of what can only be his grief, looming and jagged with no perceivable path up it. He looks at you and you reflect back at him a version of yourselves he’d left behind. He takes in your gap toothed smiles and grubby fingers interlocked and tastes iron.
“I was afraid you were really gone.” Your chest shudders harshly against his own. It’s awful–the whole thing. He’s certain he’s never felt like this.
“Yeah,” he can’t get his voice above a whisper. “Me too.”
It’s painful—the child in him that he believed to be destroyed. Looking him in the face now, you stand next to him, but a step behind. That hurts more than anything—the outstretched hand that he never reached for. How different things would have been if he’d have just turned around. He understands now—he’d left you both back there.
He holds you to his chest and feels, for the first time since back then, when something is knocked loose in his chest. He’s not afraid that he’ll bleed all over your bed, because he knows he already is. Something about the certainty of the way you are there, and he is right here next to you, shakes him. There are no tears left in him to shed, so instead he tries to steady shuddering gasps tucked into the crook of your neck.
And then it’s his turn to be held, and that’s painful too, because his skin is still so sensitive and his heart is breaking and god, does he wish he would’ve turned around.
He opens his mouth to say something and can only let loose a tiny, choked sound into the silence, and you understand. But that’s not enough—he needs to try. He needs you to know—to hear him and see that he tried.
“I wanted to find you.”
It shatters the quiet that’s been settled around the two of you. He wonders if it’s a cruel thing to say. He doesn’t know how to gauge your silence. He settles on filling it.
“Didn’t know how,” he whispers to the ceiling, “Was too late—I was too late—“
“Touya.” You stop his spiral and you sound tired. You lay shoulder to shoulder now, and when your fingertips drag up his palm and weave between his own, it feels like you’ve touched down to bone marrow.
“It’s not too late,” you tell him, turning your head to look him in the eye, “it’s not.”
There in the dark of your room, he thinks he could believe you.

“Oof-” Ava slammed straight into the grass, sending plumes of dust up in her wake. Her muscles ached in protest as she dragged herself off the ground. Nope, not as young as she used to be. Reya’s realm had felt like centuries. To her, it literally had been, slowly aging her as she fought God herself to go back. What didn’t make sense though was Michael. Maybe he’d just taken the term “growth spurt” a bit too literally and just ran headfirst into adulthood. Nevermind that. Ava shook herself off, a jumble of emotions climbing up her throat at the sight of Cat’s Cradle. She was almost home.
The sisters were nice, but wholly unfamiliar. No Cam, no Lilith, not even Mother. And definitely no Bea. A trill of joy ran up her spine – maybe Bea had listened, and actually went to live her life. A spike of fear wedged even deeper at the same time – what if Bea didn’t want her in her life anymore? What if she had gone and done all these amazing things while Ava was stuck in another realm. What if Bea had outgrown her, like plenty of roommates had before, being adopted out or leaving for school and bigger things than Ava and witty banter.
She still had to try. Beatrice had left almost nothing. No phone number, no email, just a P.O. box in familiar writing, paper aged with the tendrils of time. Even then, Ava could see that the strokes were sure, certain, like the Bea she’s always known. But they were lighter too, the ends of her letters lifting up just a bit, like even she didn’t know exactly what was coming next.
So Ava thanked the sisters and rushed on out.
She didn’t move as fast as she used to anymore, even with the halo thrumming in her back. But she trudged along, feet drawing her closer and closer to her final destination. The sunrise broke over the horizon as she plowed up the mountains. Of course, Bea would go back to the one place they’d shared. Not Ava-the-Halo-Bearer and Sister Beatrice, but simply Ava and Bea.
The sun glowed against her cheeks and she felt like she was nineteen-just-turned-twenty again. Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes when she realised that this could all be gone. Bea’s, but not hers. Who wouldn’t love Beatrice? She probably had a whole new life, new family, new love, just conveniently in the same place they’d learned to love each other. She planted herself on a park bench, just across from the pool she’d spent almost every free second she’d had at, and the doubt wormed into her chest, shredding at her heart til she could barely breathe.
“Ma’am, are you okay?” A young voice drifted in in German, accompanied by someone settling on the bench next to her.
It took her a second to respond, “I’m fine, thanks!” The language felt odd on her tongue. Thirty years had passed, but her mouth still moved, falling into a routine that was natural, but a bit misshapen, like clearing the cobwebs of an old hangout.
The young man had looked straight through her, with a funky little mustache and mischievous eyes. Ava wasn’t quite sure why, but in seconds she was pouring out her life’s story to this random stranger. She could almost hear the music in the background, like she had done hundreds of times to Hans before.
“It’s been years, and I don’t even know if she’d wait for this long. It feels selfish to want it but–” The boy stopped, glancing as another figure settled near the pool, “Sorry, my father sends me each morning to watch–” Ava followed his line of sight and everything faded. Bea. Streaks of grey laid where the blond used to be. Hair still up in a bun, a few strands hanging loose and framing her face perfectly. Ava’s hand itched to tuck it back behind her ear. To trace the soft smile lines at the edge of her eyes. Good. All Ava had wanted was for Bea to be happy.
She couldn’t help but launch herself at Bea, Halo giving her a little boost. Bea’s head shot up at the movement, cycling from alarm to immediate recognition as Ava’s feet pounded against the grass. Bea shot to her feet, arms reaching forward, crashing together in a tangle of limbs.
“Ava?” Bea’s voice cracked, a slight tinge of disbelief, as she clutched at Ava’s spine, drawing them together as close as she could.
“Bea,” she whispered, gripping at anything she could. She buried her nose in the crook of Bea’s neck – she smelled exactly the same. A flood of relief washed down her muscles as Bea pressed her lips against the side of her head, tears dripping against Ava’s face and mixing with her own. It took a few seconds of stunned relief, multitudes being said without any sound. “You came home,” Bea sniffled, voice thick with emotion.
Ava drew back, hand gently tilting Bea’s chin, eyes searching for the truth she already knew. “I’m home.”

Finasteride Restores Hair Loss on T (and E)
Hey uh, in case you did not know: If you're experiencing hair loss, either on testosterone, before started estrogen, or as someone who isn't taking hormones, a medication called finasteride can help with that. Finasteride blocks DHT, which is a hormone that's produced alongside testosterone. The more testosterone in your system, the more DHT. (This is oversimplifying a bit) DHT is responsible for the growth of facial and body hair, erections, bottom growth, and vocal changes. DHT can also cause hair loss in the form of thinning, receding hair lines, or balding at the crown. Finasteride is a medication that blocks DHT without completely blocking testosterone. People on finasteride not only see hair loss stop, they can also see regrowth. Finasteride will initially cause you to shed way more hair, which is freaky, but that's because it speeds up the follicle life cycle. Over time, you will see regrowth and less shedding. Some folks on testosterone may take finasteride to reduce the chances of growing facial hair, having bottom growth, or vocal changes. I started Finasteride about 8 months into starting T, when I felt like I was experiencing increased hair loss (this may also have been from stress, but I wasn't interested in risking it for the biscuit). Since starting Finasteride about seven months ago, my hair has stopped falling out as fast, and I do think I've experienced new growth. I've also continued to have vocal changes, but my vocal cords do not "creak" as much with the changes. So honestly, not mad at it. I also still am having new body hair growth, just slower. I am prescribed 1 mg of finasteride a day, but have seen studies that show a third of that dosage has been effective for cisgender men in restoring hair loss. I know trans femmes who take finasteride as part of restoring hair loss they experienced before starting hormones and they have been happy with the results. If one of your main barriers to starting any kind of gender affirming care is fear that you either will lose your hair, or that you won't be happy with your appearance because of existing hair loss---there are treatments for that!! Ask your doctor about finasteride as well as minoxidil (generic rogaine, which is available without a prescription. Also don't bother buying the women's version, buy the men's version whatever your gender, it is better value for your money).

How to Grow Your Nails Fast
Tumblr media
Introduction
In a world where trends change as quickly as the seasons, one thing that never goes out of style is healthy, strong nails. Whether you're into nail art or prefer a natural look, having well-groomed nails can boost your confidence and enhance your overall appearance. But what if you're struggling with slow nail growth? Fear not, as we delve into the intricacies of nail growth and explore effective strategies to accelerate the process.
Understanding Nail Growth
Anatomy of a Nail
Nails might seem like simple structures, but they are actually quite complex. Each nail comprises multiple layers of a protein called keratin, which provides strength and protection. Beneath the visible nail plate lies the nail bed, where new cells constantly form and push the nail forward.
Nail Growth Cycle
Nails, like hair, follow a distinct growth cycle consisting of three phases: the anagen (growth) phase, the catagen (transition) phase, and the telogen (resting) phase. Understanding this cycle is crucial for maximizing nail growth potential.
Factors Affecting Nail Growth
Diet and Nutrition
You are what you eat, and the same applies to your nails. A balanced diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and proteins is essential for promoting healthy nail growth. Incorporate foods like fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains to nourish your nails from the inside out.
Hydration Levels
Hydration plays a significant role in nail health. Dehydrated nails are more prone to breakage and brittleness. Ensure you drink an adequate amount of water daily to keep your nails hydrated and supple.
Hormonal Balance
Hormonal fluctuations can impact nail growth. Women may notice changes in nail growth during pregnancy, menstruation, or menopause. Maintaining hormonal balance through proper nutrition and lifestyle choices can help support healthy nail growth.
Nail Care Habits
How you care for your nails can either promote or hinder their growth. Avoid harsh chemicals found in nail polish removers and household cleaners, as they can weaken nails. Additionally, refrain from using your nails as tools for tasks like opening cans or scratching surfaces.

Tips for Faster Nail Growth
Maintain a Balanced Diet Rich in Essential Nutrients
Fuel your body with the nutrients it needs for optimal nail growth. Incorporate foods high in biotin, vitamin E, iron, and zinc into your diet. Consider adding supplements if you're not getting enough nutrients from food alone.
Stay Hydrated
Hydration is key to healthy nails. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your nails hydrated and prevent them from becoming dry and brittle.
Avoid Harsh Chemicals and Nail Trauma
Protect your nails from damage by avoiding exposure to harsh chemicals and minimizing trauma. Wear gloves when cleaning or doing dishes, and be gentle when filing or shaping your nails.
Practice Proper Nail Care Techniques
Trim your nails regularly to prevent breakage and promote growth. Use a gentle nail file to shape the edges, and always file in one direction to avoid weakening the nails. Keep cuticles moisturized and gently push them back rather than cutting them.
Consider Supplements and Treatments
Explore supplements and treatments specifically formulated to promote nail growth. Look for products containing ingredients like biotin, keratin, and peptides, which can help strengthen nails and stimulate growth.
Natural Remedies for Nail Growth
Coconut Oil Massage
Massage coconut oil into your nails and cuticles daily to moisturize and strengthen them. Coconut oil contains fatty acids and vitamins that nourish the nails and promote growth.
Garlic Paste Application
Apply a paste made from crushed garlic cloves to your nails and leave it on for a few minutes before rinsing off. Garlic is rich in selenium and sulfur, which can help stimulate nail growth and improve overall nail health.
Lemon Juice Soak
Soak your nails in lemon juice for a few minutes to help brighten and strengthen them. Lemon juice contains vitamin C, which promotes collagen production and aids in nail growth.
Professional Treatments for Nail Growth
Nail Strengthening Treatments
Visit a nail salon for professional strengthening treatments like gel overlays or dip powder manicures. These treatments can provide added protection to weak or brittle nails and promote growth.
Nail Growth Serums
Invest in a quality nail growth serum containing ingredients like peptides, vitamins, and antioxidants. These serums penetrate the nail bed to nourish and strengthen nails from within, promoting faster growth.
Nail Extensions and Overlays
Consider getting nail extensions or overlays if you struggle with short or weak nails. These artificial enhancements can provide instant length and strength while allowing your natural nails to grow underneath.
Lifestyle Changes for Nail Health
Manage Stress Levels
Chronic stress can take a toll on nail health. Practice stress-reducing activities like yoga, meditation, or deep breathing exercises to promote overall well-being and support healthy nail growth.
Protect Your Nails
Wear gloves when performing activities that may expose your nails to harsh chemicals or excessive moisture. Protecting your nails from damage can help prevent breakage and promote faster growth.
Avoid Excessive Use of Nail Polish and Nail Polish Removers
While nail polish can add flair to your look, excessive use can weaken nails. Give your nails a break from polish occasionally to allow them to breathe and recover. When using nail polish removers, opt for acetone-free formulas to minimize drying and damage.
Nail Care Dos and Don'ts
Dos: Keep Nails Clean and Dry
Practice good hygiene by keeping your nails clean and dry. Use a gentle soap and water to wash your hands, and dry them thoroughly afterward to prevent bacterial or fungal infections.
Don't: Bite or Pick at Nails
Resist the urge to bite or pick at your nails, as this can cause damage and hinder growth. Instead, keep your nails neatly trimmed and filed to reduce the temptation to bite or pick.
Understanding Nail Disorders
Common Nail Problems
Be vigilant for signs of common nail disorders such as fungal infections, nail psoriasis, or ingrown nails. Prompt identification and treatment can prevent further damage and promote healthy nail growth.
You can also try this product ProNail Complex
When to Seek Professional Help
If you experience persistent nail problems or notice sudden changes in nail growth or appearance, consult a dermatologist or nail specialist. They can diagnose underlying issues and recommend appropriate treatments to restore nail health.
Conclusion
Growing your nails fast requires patience, consistency, and a holistic approach to nail care. By nourishing your body with a balanced diet, practicing good nail hygiene, and exploring natural remedies and professional treatments, you can achieve the strong, healthy nails you desire. Embrace the journey of nail growth, celebrate progress along the way, and flaunt your fabulous fingertips with confidence.

Ok so i have no idea if you’ve answered this question before but whats it like being on Testosterone? Saw your post abt being on it for 6 months (congrats!!) and im planning on starting sometime (hopefully). Just wanna ask if there’s anything i should expect or if you have any tips?
(Your my first ask on this site🎉)
sorry for the late response!
Testosterone has been great! I'm the happiest and most confident I've ever been. A lot of the first few changes were voice and bottom growth, and my cycle ended within the first three months. My family isn't very hairy so I haven't gotten a lot of body hair, but I have gotten more and its thicker than when I wasn't on T, but I've heard that can be a lot for some people. My acne wasn't too bad either, but it is still present so be prepared for that, try and get in the habit of washing your face before T if you haven't already. Your hair will probably thin or your hairline will restructure. If you're scared about balding, perhaps looking into things like Minoxidil for hair regrowth. My fat redistribution happened really fast, like within the first few months, but I've heard other people say it takes at least a year to start changing. A lot of changes are variable like that, the timeline is really just based on your genetics, though some things start earlier in the transition generally, like changing voice.
Thanks for being your first ask! I hope this helps some!

1 month on T update
I can’t believe it’s been a month already but here’s what I’ve noticed this month:
my throat feels scratchy and goes hoarse pretty easily. this could be allergies or from dust and dander that got pushed around while moving apartments. or…it could be T who knooooowwwsss
i wash my hands a lot at work and noticed my forearms feel…firmer? like slightly more toned
so sweaty. sweat smelling kinda different very suddenly like “oh what’s that smell? [sniff] oh it’s me” not bad but like…normal body odor smell I guess
don’t know if it’s placebo and paying more attention to my body hair…but arm and tummy hair possibly looking darker??? may just me being hyperaware and excited but who knooooowwwws :3c
for real with hair though: some wiry hairs on my upper lip and a bit more stubble on my chin (already had some pre-t)
my face is breaking out like it did it high school :/ skin is getting oiy. but looking duller ?? it may just be my shitty diet during the last few weeks plus stress and plus exhaustion from moving. eating vegetables is my favorite activity rn
one big symptom(?) I’ve noticed is the need to stretch? and they are BIG stretches and feel SO GOOD. I did some research and apparently this is normal for some when starting T due to increased blood flow to your muscles and your body composition changing. your body just wants to get that blood circulating. you’re growing and going through puberty :)
(genital and menstruation talk below)
related to stretching, being touched by my bf sometimes triggered these stretches. possibly linked to sensitivity and increased libido? I’m a stretchy guy and feel good moving that way :)
libido is still high. still in horny jail.
possible bottom growth idk??? I didn’t pay that much attention to the look of things before T. I know for a fact blood is flowing in that direction tho because it feels like a tiny shock to the clit when having horny thoughts
this is the teen boy experience. im 28 but my body feels 13
i started T the same week my cycle starts so im monitoring pmdd symptoms rn and i definitely noticed a big drop in my confidence within the last week compared to when I first started T. nothing extreme but body negativity did creep up in my thoughts a few times. we’ll see how my actual period is this month, curious how fast that’ll disappear for me.

Wearing a Helmet is Important - Know its Connection with Hair Loss
Tumblr media
Shedding a certain number of hair strands is part of the natural hair growth cycle, but excessive hair loss can lead to baldness. Helmets are essential for safety while riding two-wheelers, but concerns about their potential connection to hair loss have arisen.
Helmets and Baldness:
No Direct Link: Wearing a helmet is not directly linked to baldness, but improper usage can contribute to specific hair conditions.
Compulsory Helmet Use: Helmets are mandatory for two-wheeler riders and offer crucial protection during rides.
Traction Alopecia:
Traction Alopecia: A condition caused by constant hair pulling resulting from tight ponytails, improper hairstyles, styling tools, and wearing fast helmets.
Helmet Fit: An overly tight helmet can suffocate hair roots, hair loss, and sweat-induced issues like dandruff, further exacerbating hair loss.
Preventing Hair Loss Due to Helmets:
Choosing the Right Helmet: Opt for a snug but not excessively tight helmet.
Using a Cotton Cloth: Placing a cotton cloth between the helmet and the hair can reduce friction and potential hair damage.
Avoiding Wet Hair: Never wear a helmet with wet hair to prevent infections.
Regular Helmet Cleaning: Maintain hygiene by cleaning the helmet regularly.
Scalp Care: Clean the scalp to prevent sebum buildup and potential hair infections.
Hair Moisturization: Moisturize hair to maintain its health and resilience.
Seeking Professional Help:
Dermatologist Consultation: If wearing a helmet has led to hair loss, especially due to traction alopecia or fungal infections, consult a dermatologist promptly.
Treatment Options: A hair doctor can assess the hair loss condition and recommend suitable treatments to reverse hair loss and prevent balding.
In conclusion, there is no direct link between wearing helmets and baldness. Helmets are essential for safety while riding two-wheelers. However, wearing an improperly fitting helmet can lead to conditions like traction alopecia and hair loss due to sweat-induced issues. To prevent hair loss, individuals should choose well-fitting helmets, use a cotton cloth as a barrier, avoid wearing helmets with wet hair, maintain helmet hygiene, keep the scalp clean, and moisturize the hair. Consulting a dermatologist or hair specialist is advisable for appropriate diagnosis and treatment if hair loss persists.

How Often Do You Go for a Haircut to Look Fresh and Kempt?
The secret behind looking fresh and kept in your hairstyle is to go in for trims regularly. Just how often do you go to get your haircut by a salon in Manerbio or a professional hair salon in Lograto? It's really just up to the type of hair you have and your style.
Short Hair
If you sport short hair, whether it is a pixie cut or a bob, then you should get your haircut every 4 to 6 weeks. You see, when the hair is short, you tend to lose shape very quickly; therefore, getting a regular trim will keep your look in check.
Medium-Length Hair
For layered or shoulder-length styles, middle-length hair is recommended to be cut every 6 to 8 weeks to help maintain shape and avoid splitting off.
Long Hair
If you have long hair, you may go that little longer between haircuts-that is, 8 to 12 weeks. Long hair, though forgiving when it comes to losing its shape, still needs regular trims to promote healthy-looking hair.
Curly Hair
Tends to follow its own growth cycle, so probably will not need trims as often. Every 8 to 12 weeks keeps curls looking defined and controls the frizz.
Bangs

Unlocking the Secrets to Stronger, Longer Locks: The Best Hair Growth Products in Singapore
Hair growth is a topic of interest for many, especially those who have faced the frustration of slow-growing hair or thinning locks. In Singapore, where the tropical climate and lifestyle can affect hair health, finding the right products to promote hair growth is essential. Marc Anthony, a trusted name in hair care, offers a range of products designed to boost hair growth and help you achieve the luscious locks you've always dreamed of. In this article, we'll explore the best hair growth products and serums available in Singapore, and how they can transform your hair care routine.
Understanding Hair Growth: The Basics
Before diving into the best hair growth products, it's important to understand the basics of hair growth. Hair grows in cycles, with each strand going through a growth phase (anagen), a resting phase (telogen), and a shedding phase (catagen). On average, hair grows about half an inch per month, but factors like genetics, age, diet, and hair care practices can influence this rate.
For those seeking to accelerate hair growth, focusing on scalp health and providing the right nutrients to the hair follicles is key. This is where hair growth products, like those from Marc Anthony, come into play.
Top Hair Growth Products from Marc Anthony
1. Marc Anthony's Grow Long Shampoo and Conditioner
The foundation of any effective hair growth routine is a high-quality shampoo and conditioner. Marc Anthony's Grow Long Shampoo and Conditioner are formulated with caffeine, ginseng, and vitamin E, ingredients known for their ability to stimulate the scalp and strengthen hair from the roots. Caffeine helps to improve blood circulation to the scalp, promoting hair growth, while ginseng provides nourishment to the hair follicles. Vitamin E, on the other hand, acts as a powerful antioxidant, protecting hair from damage and supporting healthy growth.
These products are also free from sulfates and parabens, making them gentle enough for daily use without stripping the hair of its natural oils.
2. Marc Anthony's Grow Long Super Fast Strength Leave-In Conditioner
For those who are constantly on the go, the Grow Long Super Fast Strength Leave-In Conditioner is a must-have. This leave-in treatment is packed with caffeine and ginseng, just like the shampoo and conditioner, but also contains hydrolyzed keratin and biotin. Hydrolyzed keratin strengthens hair by filling in the gaps in the hair shaft, reducing breakage and split ends. Biotin, a B vitamin, is known for its role in promoting hair health and preventing hair loss. This leave-in conditioner not only helps to detangle and smooth the hair but also provides ongoing nourishment throughout the day, making it an essential part of your hair growth regimen.
3. Marc Anthony's Grow Long Anti-Breakage Oil
Breakage is one of the biggest obstacles to achieving longer hair. Marc Anthony's Grow Long Anti-Breakage Oil is a lightweight formula that helps to prevent breakage and split ends, allowing your hair to grow longer and stronger. Infused with avocado oil and grapeseed oil, this product deeply moisturizes the hair, reducing dryness and brittleness.
The oil also contains castor oil, which is known for its ability to promote hair growth by nourishing the scalp and hair follicles. A few drops of this oil applied to the ends of your hair can make a significant difference in the overall health and length of your locks.
Best Hair Growth Serums in Singapore
In addition to the products mentioned above, hair growth serums are a powerful tool in the quest for longer, thicker hair. Here are some of the best hair growth serums available in Singapore:
1. Marc Anthony's Grow Long Hair Growth Serum
Marc Anthony's Grow Long Hair Growth Serum is a concentrated treatment designed to target areas of the scalp where hair growth is slow or where thinning is noticeable. This serum is enriched with biotin, caffeine, and ginseng, all of which work together to stimulate hair follicles and encourage new hair growth.
The serum also includes a blend of nourishing oils, such as argan oil and jojoba oil, which hydrate the scalp and create an optimal environment for hair growth. With regular use, this serum can help you achieve fuller, healthier hair.
2. Marc Anthony's Strengthening Grow Long Biotin Treatment
Another standout product in the Marc Anthony lineup is the Strengthening Grow Long Biotin Treatment. This intensive treatment is designed to strengthen hair from the inside out, reducing breakage and promoting healthy growth. Biotin is the star ingredient, but the formula also includes niacinamide, which improves blood flow to the scalp, and panthenol, which enhances hair elasticity and moisture retention.
This treatment is perfect for those who have experienced hair thinning or hair loss, as it works to revitalize the hair follicles and encourage regrowth.
Conclusion: Achieving Your Hair Growth Goals
Achieving longer, stronger hair requires a combination of the right products and consistent care. Marc Anthony offers a range of hair products for hair growth that are not only effective but also tailored to meet the needs of those living in Singapore's unique climate. By incorporating these products into your hair care routine, you can unlock the potential for healthier, faster-growing hair. Whether you're looking to prevent breakage, stimulate new growth, or simply nourish your scalp, Marc Anthony has the perfect solution for you.

Prediabetes: Causes, Signs, Symptoms
Introduction: Prediabetes is a condition characterized by blood sugar levels that are higher than normal but not yet high enough to be classified as type 2 diabetes. It is a critical warning sign that your body is starting to have trouble processing glucose effectively. If left unmanaged, prediabetes can progress to type 2 diabetes, which carries risks of serious health complications. Understanding the causes, signs, and symptoms of prediabetes is essential for early detection and prevention.
Risk Factors:
Several factors can increase the likelihood of developing prediabetes:
Obesity: Excess body weight, particularly around the abdomen, is a major risk factor. Fat cells, especially visceral fat, can cause inflammation and insulin resistance.
Physical Inactivity: A sedentary lifestyle reduces the body’s ability to use insulin efficiently.
Age: The risk of prediabetes increases with age, particularly after 45 years.
Family History: A family history of type 2 diabetes increases the risk, suggesting a genetic predisposition to insulin resistance.
Race and Ethnicity: Certain ethnic groups, including African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, and Asian Americans, have a higher risk of developing prediabetes.
Gestational Diabetes: Women who developed diabetes during pregnancy (gestational diabetes) or who gave birth to a baby weighing more than 9 pounds are at an increased risk of prediabetes.
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS): Women with PCOS, a condition characterized by irregular menstrual cycles, excess hair growth, and obesity, have a higher risk of prediabetes.
Signs and Symptoms:
Prediabetes is often asymptomatic, but some individuals may experience symptoms associated with elevated blood sugar levels:
Increased Thirst and Frequent Urination: As blood sugar levels rise, the kidneys work harder to eliminate the excess glucose, leading to increased thirst and more frequent urination.
Fatigue: When cells are deprived of glucose due to insulin resistance, the body may feel tired or fatigued.
Blurred Vision: High blood sugar can cause fluid to be pulled from the lenses of the eyes, leading to swelling and blurred vision.
Slow-Healing Wounds: Elevated blood sugar levels can impair blood circulation and slow down the healing process of cuts and bruises.
Darkened Skin Patches (Acanthosis Nigricans): Some individuals with prediabetes develop dark, velvety patches of skin, usually in the armpits, neck, or groin.
Diagnosis:
Prediabetes is typically diagnosed through blood tests that measure blood glucose levels. The most common tests include:
Fasting Plasma Glucose (FPG) Test: This test measures blood glucose after an overnight fast. A level between 100 and 125 mg/dL indicates prediabetes.
Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT): This test measures blood glucose two hours after drinking a glucose-rich beverage. A level between 140 and 199 mg/dL indicates prediabetes.
Hemoglobin A1c Test: This test measures the average blood glucose levels over the past 2-3 months. An A1c level between 5.7% and 6.4% indicates prediabetes.
Prevention and Management:
Lifestyle Changes: The most effective way to prevent or manage prediabetes is through lifestyle changes:
Healthy Eating: A balanced diet rich in whole grains, fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats can help maintain healthy blood sugar levels. Reducing the intake of refined sugars and processed foods is also crucial.
Regular Physical Activity: Engaging in regular physical activity, such as brisk walking, cycling, or swimming, can improve insulin sensitivity and help with weight management. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week.
Weight Loss: Losing even a small amount of weight (5-7% of body weight) can significantly reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Quit Smoking: Smoking increases the risk of insulin resistance and cardiovascular disease, so quitting can improve overall health.
Medications: In some cases, doctors may prescribe medications to manage blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Common medications include:
Metformin: This is the most commonly prescribed medication for prediabetes. It helps improve insulin sensitivity and lowers blood sugar levels.
Glucose-Lowering Drugs: In some cases, other glucose-lowering drugs, such as GLP-1 receptor agonists or SGLT2 inhibitors, may be considered.
Causes of Prediabetes
Prediabetes occurs when your body starts to have trouble using insulin effectively. Several factors can contribute to the development of prediabetes, including:
Insulin Resistance: The body becomes less sensitive to insulin, causing the pancreas to produce more to manage blood glucose levels.
Overweight or Obesity: Excess fat, particularly abdominal fat, is strongly linked to insulin resistance.
Sedentary Lifestyle: Lack of physical activity can contribute to weight gain and reduced insulin sensitivity.
Genetics: Family history of type 2 diabetes can increase the risk of prediabetes.
Age: The risk of prediabetes increases as you get older, especially after the age of 45.
Poor Diet: Diets high in processed foods, sugars, and unhealthy fats can contribute to weight gain and insulin resistance.
Sleep Disorders: Conditions like sleep apnea can increase the risk of insulin resistance and prediabetes.
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS): This condition is linked to insulin resistance and can increase the risk of prediabetes in women.
High Blood Pressure and Cholesterol Levels: These conditions are often associated with insulin resistance.
Signs and Symptoms of Prediabetes
Prediabetes often doesn’t cause noticeable symptoms, which is why it’s sometimes referred to as a “silent” condition. However, some people may experience:
Increased Thirst: Feeling thirsty more often than usual.
Frequent Urination: Needing to urinate more frequently, especially at night.
Fatigue: Feeling more tired than usual, even after adequate rest.
Blurred Vision: Changes in vision, such as blurriness, may occur as blood sugar levels fluctuate.
Darkened Skin (Acanthosis Nigricans): Patches of dark, velvety skin, often on the neck, armpits, or groin, which can be a sign of insulin resistance.
Slow Healing: Cuts or sores that take longer than usual to heal.
Unexplained Weight Loss or Gain: Some people may experience sudden weight loss or gain.

SIMPLE TECHNIQUE TO HELP MANAGE BLOOD SUGAR
Conclusion
Prediabetes results from a combination of factors that lead to insulin resistance, including obesity, lack of physical activity, poor diet, and genetic predisposition. While it often presents with no symptoms, signs such as increased thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, blurred vision, and acanthosis nigricans may occur. Recognizing these signs and understanding the causes are crucial for early intervention. Addressing lifestyle factors through diet, exercise, and weight management can help manage and potentially reverse prediabetes, preventing the progression to type 2 diabetes and improving overall health.
