"Life, although it may only be an accumulation of anguish, is dear to me, and I will defend it."
#the minotaur#asterius#greek mythology#ancient greece#my art#ancient greek mythology#greek myths#krita#difital art#artists on tumblr#art#Frankenstein#yes the quote is from this book because the similarities between these two creatures are heartbreaking#Asterius didn't want this life that was putted on him because Minos became greedy#torn between his wants and nature but ultimately didn't have a choice at all#his looks sealed his fate because the people wouldn't accept him#his realisation that he's doomed to be alone#and the only people he meets are sacrifices for him#how much rage and rejection he endured made him the beast everyone saw him as#loneliness and isolation had a tool on him like the monster in Frankenstein#because the men responsible didn't admit their mistakes#theseus and the minotaur

Funniest Members of the JLD
Doctor Fate: He’s a fucking helmet. Like yes there is a god in the helmet but it doesn’t change the fact that this is a helmet.
Deadman: Extremely accurate name. Also where are they finding all of these circus acrobats.
Frankenstein: He’s from a classic novel?? He has the blood of an alien king??? He defended London against Nazis?? He worked for Father Time, who is a Japanese schoolgirl???? What is with this man.
John Constantine: Lost his house and the leadership of the JLD to Zatanna (his ex) after killing her father. Snorted Santa’s bones. not a good person at all.
Zatanna: Put a spell on Constantine to try and force him to be good. Also her name is Zatanna Zatara. That’s just kinda odd.
Batman: WHY IS HE EVEN HERE

thinking about how walton is the only person who’s ever seen the creature for who he is. how every single person either attacked the creature or ran or fainted except for de lacey and walton.
how walton chooses to compose himself and speak with the creature despite his initial shock and victor’s dying wish for walton to kill the creature. how he chooses to hear what the creature has to say. how despite his grief and anger he chooses to treat the creature like a human and not some monster of pure evil. he doesn’t call the creature a demon out loud, only in his letter to his sister.
and walton listens. and he doesn’t judge the creature for his monstrous appearance. he reminds the creature that at every point he had a choice and yet the creature still chose to continue his violence every time. walton doesn’t hate the creature for looking like a monster. walton hates the creature purely for what he did.
imagining that scene from the creature’s point of view.
nobody has ever treated the creature like this before. even victor had to be restrained from attacking him before he would listen. so when the creature, mourning victor and once again wallowing in his guilt and self-pity, hears this other man approaching, of course he turns to escape through the window.
and then.
he hears walton’s voice telling him to stay. and for a brief moment everything seems wondrous. perhaps this is the small scrap of acceptance he’s been searching for his whole life.
in another world they could have been friends.
in any other world they never would have met.
#walton i am so sorry for disrespecting you#i need to reread the first three letters because i was. not paying attention as closely as i should have.#robert walton#the creature#frankenstein#frankenstein tag#walton!!!#my posts#soulmates at odds with fate#<- walton/creature tag#walture#walton/creature
