Dawnpaw has a very “silly” personality (hopeless romantic in a tame way, enjoys life for what it is, jokester) and Woodpaw is more mellow/duller (not the brightest bulb but also enjoys life for what it is). Dawnpaw and Woodpaw are both still prone to prejudice (ex.: against Lizardflight), though, like Robinpaw

notes: Badgerfang is very out-going and so is his mate, Blossomtail. The two of them are friends with most every cat in the clan, especially those of the younger generation (ex.: their app-group like Wetfoot, current apprentices like Turtlepaw, or in other clans, like Ravenwing, who Badgerfang met once but thought was cool/nice, or Gorsepaw as well)

Swampfur’s Friend Group

Blossomtail (brother), Oakfur (brother), Applefur (sister, deceased), Badgerfang (friend, growing distant), Lynxpaw (close friend), Swiftpaw (mate)

notes: Swampfur has always had an interest in the cats outside of her clan and their lifestyles, and finds it easier/more interesting to be friends with cats not from her clan (including that of Tigerclaw’s followers). This has also caused her to grow less closer to her family/formerly close friends, due to the secrets she keeps.

Oakfur’s Friend Group (not on tree)

notes: Oakfur had been very close with Applefur until she left the clan (then died). He gets along better with the “bad crowd,” and often hangs with Tigerclaw’s followers

CHICKENS

Chickens, named verbally by humans after the Old World creatures of a similar disposition, are a widely distributed livestock animal kept for their meat and feathers. Chickens have been shaped by generations of selective breeding prior to Human arrival to grow and shed an impressive amount of their coats, which are comprised of sturdy, hollow “pinfeathers” that contain softer fibers within, much like a flax plant. The sheddings are then collected and woven into a material called featherwool, which was the most common textile prior to the appearance of Human animals with the Santiago and still sees prolific use to the modern day, though it sees fair competition with the introduction of manewool (see Sheep). The Dragonsign name for chickens can be roughly translated to “featherfriend”*.

Traditionally, chicken feathers were collected from the ground with a wide rake and then sieved and washed to remove dirt and debris before being processed. Since the arrival of humans gave birth to widespread industrial revolution, this process has been automated in various manners, though it’s still done manually in many smaller settlements.

*Many widespread dialects of Dragonsign have two base words for animals, one meaning, generally, “animal who is a friend”, referring to domesticated animals and pets, and one meaning “animal who is not a friend”, referring to any non-domesticated animal (regardless of hostility). Prefixes are then attached to these words to give more specific meaning. The sign that has been translated here as feather for brevity refers specifically to the hollow fiber-feathers grown by domestic chickens, as opposed to other types of flimsier branching feathers that make up the decorative frills of many Dragons.

SHEEP

Sheep were named so as the successors of Old World sheep, who were introduced to Alcoritrés with the Santiago and, after mingling extensively with several local species of wild herbivores – most notably the cold-blooded greenrunners* native to nearby prairies, which led to the predominant modern-day hybrid pictured above – proceeded to thin out and almost entirely die off after a few generations or so due to their inability to evolve fast enough to survive the harsh weather that differentiated Alcoritrés grasslands from their previous pastures, leaving their genes behind in the form of their fortified hybrid offspring.

As a result, the sustained wide-scale rearing of domestic sheep on Alcoritrés only truly dates back about ~2950 years, by which time the recently-arrived Humans had recovered both the resource capacity to settle down with livestock and the hands-on knowledge of how to raise and interact with the newly-bred species.

In the modern day, sheep are kept for their meat, lanolin and wool, which is commonly referred to as manewool to differentiate it from the featherwool produced by Alcoritrés chickens. Sheep scales, spines and claws are also sometimes sold and eaten for their nutritional benefits: they contain high amounts of calcium and magnesium, similar to fish scales.

*Though the syntax resembles many Dragonsign verbal name translations, greenrunner was an epithet given to the animals (in Dragonsign called roughly grassclaw-notfriend – see the chickens footnote for further translation context)) by early Humans, whose initial encounters with them were most often when flocks of them approached the edges of the northern forest the Santiago had crashed in to search for food and shelter during harsher storm seasons. The fleeting glimpses of them along with their warbling vocalizations gave them a more eerie reputation than they rightfully deserved to the wary settlers, who weren’t entirely sure if they were observing a sentient species or not.

The journey Izuku has had with his quirk is unique compared to most people. One major quirk registration change that needed verification using an analysis quirk, three if his mum hadn't stepped in, multiple cases of what could have been grievous bodily harm, accidentally causing an autoimmune response and having to go to a hospital, possible collective quirk awakenings, the list goes on.

This won't stop the fact that he wants to be a hero with his quirk, even if the way there is a little less linear than he hopes.

BIRD UPDATE: First of all, we want to offer a HUGE THANK you for everyone’s support through donations, advice, help, and compassion. It has been truly humbling. This has been a whirlwind, a nightmare and a blessing. Never thought we would say that it’s too quiet, but it really is. We are still processing and reeling over what happened. But the birds here still need us 100% so we are trying our hardest to do just that for them. They deserve nothing less. So, Junior is the toughest critic when it comes to this new “healthy” lifestyle lol. It’s a learning curve all around, and some are more enthusiastic about it than others. We are learning what everyone likes and doesn’t like. We had leftover food from the chop we did so I’m experimenting to see where everyone’s favorites are ingredient wise. LaLa is not a fan of the chop so far. She really does not want to switch. Taco is playing the same. Stanley cleaned his bowl yesterday.....except the broccoli lol. He literally cleaned everything off of the pieces of broccoli and left them to show me in his bowl. Mystery eats everything lol. So far, none of these birds have shown any drop in appetite (even LaLa and Taco are still chowing down on what they want....which are usually the sweet food and the nuts). Ava is literally just getting anything and everything she wants as she recovers. Her taste seems to change daily so I just offer a few things 4-5 times a day to see what she wants. As long as she is eating it, she gets it. Corn was a big hit today. She is a little hesitant about the chop. But, until she’s back to 100%, her diet is definitely on her terms, as long as it’s going to make her feel better. She is also getting her meds hidden in her favorite foods since she is now definitely feisty enough to put up a fight about taking it by oral syringe lol. She screamed about waiting for me to make food today. Feather storm, acrylic on wood board. This painting was one of those you do in between tasks, I kept going not knowing where I was going with it. At some point I hated it and didn’t know what to do, so I put it aside.
