I requested an advance copy and will probably never be allowed to advance anything because I've been a pisspoor reader lately. It is good! The writer has such detailed descriptions, I love the heroine already, the world building is WOW, and I'm 👀👀👀 @ her dynamic with her mom.

I've just been pffft lately.

What potting soil do you use? Im trying to start my own plant collection and im not sure what i should get/what is reliable

I'm making my own! I've learned from my best friend. And apparently most people, upon reading about potting soil, make their own. I know the store bought I got had quite some fungus gnats (hope that's the correct translation for those small flies).

If you've got nodes or a small offset plants, you should just use appropriate soil (like coconut soil swelling tabs). But yes, for bigger baby plants or regular plants I've got my own. (Mind you these are the items I can get locally from Switzerland/Germany - not sure if they're called different at other places)

It's estimated 1:1:1 coconut soil (which you need to let swell up in water) like this

perlite like this (make sure it's for plants and NOT used for housing/wall isolation)

and pine bark, 0-7 mm size, like this

And just mix it all together. Buuuut I gotta say I'm still a newb to houseplants. I definitely recommend doing your own research (there are tons of youtubers). I can also recommend the r/housplants subreddit - the folks there are super nice and helpful. They've also got a wiki with lots of info. I'm sure you'll find what you need there!

And they started relying on a weird system that alerts them when an animal goes out the doggy door at night. so they can yell at the cat if that's who went out. Except if they've already fuckinh run away to be eaten by coyotes or hit by a car. Or ignore it bc they're fucking asleep.

And then when i'm upset at them for fucking up, they tell me i'm being ungrateful and that the cats are fine.

They just couldn't be bothered to take an extra few minutes out of their day to do what I asked in the way it needed to be done.

Just. I've been home 17 hours and I already feel like shit and hate living here.

I'm so fucking tired.

Protoplast fusion technology was used for the formation of improved strain from a brown rot fungus, Fomitopsis feei and a white rot fungus, Pycnoporous sps. for the enhanced production of exopolysaccharide. Self-fusion of Fomitopsis feei and intergeneric hybridization of Fomitopsis feei with Pycnoporus sp. were researched. A combination of chitinase and lysing enzymes were used for the release of protoplasts. Fusion was successful with the formation of visible stable morphological regenerated colonies after several subcultures. Mycelial growth and hyphal size of wild species and fusants were significantly different from those of the parental strains. Although, Self and intergeneric protoplast fusants were produced successfully but were not best producers of exopolysaccharide compared to wild fungi. Even though, strain improvement towards highest production of exopolysaccharide is not successful, this study shows the possibility of fusion between these two mushrooms and could be useful in other research areas.

im keeping a list of my rigid habits and routines in my notes app now. and actually there is a lot. they all have a purpose to me and i don't even think abt them honestly. most of them have to do with hygiene and sleep
