i think we should remind musicians they can absolutely make up little stories for their songs btw. it doesn’t have to be about them at all. you can invent a guy and put him in situations to music. time honoured tradition in fact.

Trace Adkins - “Songs About Me” (2005)

While title track “Songs About Me” and hometown-wistfulness track “Metropolis” have potential and there are a lot of fun rock and folk elements, almost the entire album is ruined by the hyper-patriotism that plagued country music in the years following 9/11. Except “Honkytonk Badonkadonk,” which is goofy and dumb and perfect.

Saying this as an Irish person since the new Hozier album just came out and there are lyrics in Irish; it’s Irish or Gaeilge (pronounced “gwhale-ga” or “gale-ga” depending on region), not Gaelic or Celtic or any other name people come up with.

It’s just a normal language that people speak in their everyday life. We learn it in school in the republic. People like myself are bilingual in Irish and English. It’s not a “fairy aesthetic cottage core leprechaun” language.

Please respect it. Our language is a touchy subject seen as how England tried to erase it by forcing English on us and severely punishing those who spoke Irish.

At the same time that does NOT mean it is a dead language. Our (in the republic) road and safety signs are in both Irish and English, same with legal documents. Our politicians speak it, and we are trying to preserve the language!

Currently Watching: Nothing. But funnily enough this question comes a day after me considering watching things again. I feel I have the focus.

Currently Reading:  Tricked Into Being The Heroine's Stepmother. I wanted something fluffy. It is on Webtoons by HARIHEEN.

I'm also VERY SLOWLY making my way through When Stars AIight by Camilla Andrew. I requested an advance copy and will probably never be allowed to advance anything because I've been a pisspoor reader lately. It is good! The writer has such detailed descriptions, I love the heroine already, the world building is WOW, and I'm 👀👀👀 @ her dynamic with her mom.

I've just been pffft lately.

Current Obsession: Hrm. I suppose Infamous? Mostly I've been... itchy. And don't know what to do to satisfy that. So I probably need something to focus on.
