#feeling the fob emotions

Hello! It’s me, anon who’s ranting about SP ) thank you for answering my rambling!
The most interesting thing is, that I totally agree with you, when I was high on my #feels for this tiny man, and was dreaming about this album meeting the light of the day in the more kind, more receptive timeline, what I was really wishing for is Patrick incorporating more songs from his album in his piano/acoustic guitar medley ))) or maybe even 8ball?? Because, unfortunately, you’re right, and the whole thing didn’t came from a happy place. And reliving it would be hard on everyone involved. Your relationship metaphor is so spot on, Pete taught us well )) Also, how funny is this, that this man can take the most serious, complicated topics and dress them up as dance, rock’ roll fusion songs … He does this on their latest album as well, it’s fascinating.
As about this famous pop artist whose album kinda flopped for me… I think I just hyped myself up too much, I heard good reviews, and thought it will be a bang of a record, but.. it’s not that bad, maybe I just need more time and some songs will stick with me ))
Anon, I’m going to subscribe to the insane delulu that Mr. Stump saw your ask last night because HE! DELIVERED!!!! WHAT ARE THE ODDS?!
Bad side of 25?!?! I’m dead and dying, honestly.
I am definitely holding your hand in terms of wishing that album could be released in the loving and supportive fan base that exists now. It kills me that he experienced so much pushback and vitriol. I fully believe him when he says that he was ok with it not being “successful,” but it was devastating to hear how much “fans” actively hated it. And be told this at his own shows!!
I try to remind myself that it was just part of the journey, though, and what helped make FOB what they are today <3
It’s easy to get caught up in the FOB feels. They have SUCH a story, and have come so far, yet have remained very true to themselves. That’s incredibly rare to find!
Totally agree that Patrick’s ability to take heart wrenching and serious topics and turn them into total bops is honestly unmatched. The beauty of all of his music is that you can either turn brain off and jam, turn brain on and cry, or do an odd mixture of both (<- me in the car tbh).
Feel free to express the feelings here any time!
(Ok but fr anon I am dying to know who you are talking about I do NOT get offended and prob will agree with you tbh hahahaha)

literally cannot stop thinking about how pavlove getting put on spotify is so much more than just like a fun, cool thing that’s been a long time coming as a fan. it very much is that, but it also is symbolically so important? like, this is a song that was a bonus track on an album fob felt like they had to ignore and shy away from for nearly 15 years. this was a song that they probably never intended to play live (like much of folie) or release on streaming- until they started seeing just how much fans wanted it. until patrick mentioned wanting to play headfirst slide, and they saw that fans actually wanted that and so they did. and then they kept playing folie songs for the 8 ball songs, pavlove included. and the response to those folie 8 balls was overwhelmingly positive and full of love and encouragement. until fob saw how loved they and folie and pavlove truly are by fob fans now, to the point where they were able to heal from the fear of unhappy fans and a negative response to music they were truly proud of. to the point where they released pavlove on streaming. the thing about fall out boy is that they genuinely love and care about their fans, they show us the love we show them and i sincerely believe this is one of the finest examples of that

Listen I know logically we are never getting a follow up video to the youngblood chronicles but if we were it would ABSOLUTELY be a video to The Kintsugi Kid (Ten Years).
Like quite literally it's been ten years both in real life and inside the YBC universe. Ten years since the bands return from hiatus and the album that brought them back. Ten years since the events of the youngblood chronicles. They spent ten years in a chemical haze. Don't you get it they spent ten years in a chemical haze and they miss the way they felt nothing. The four of them died in YBC. Four of the Ramones are dead. Patrick's organs and hand were removed. But on the bright side he's got the wrong insides. He is literally saying to stop him if they've heard this all before. They were all torn apart both physically and mentally but now ten years later they've filled the cracks with gold and have healed.
A follow up video ten years down the line from the youngblood chronicles while impossible in practice is beautiful in theory.

i really do love how patrick and pete have just been. so much more comfortable talking about how much they mean to each other in these recent interviews. yeah of course we already knew that but they’ve been so open with us lately and it’s nice that they feel like they can trust us and be open with us now without their boundaries being pushed, yknow?

Yeah, I get that, but I’m being serious when I say we could cry a little, cry a lot. Don’t stop dancing, don’t dare stop. We’ll cry later or cry now, you know it’s heartbreak. We could dance the tears, away emancipate ourselves. We’ll cry later or cry now, but baby heartbreak feels so good.

oh HANG ON before I go to bed I NEED all of you on main to understand that that letter Patrick wrote about the response to Soul Punk? Confessions of a Pariah?? literally was what led to Fall Out Boy coming out of hiatus. after like a couple years of (according to a lot of conflicting comments bc none of them can decide how they really want us to believe the hiatus went) barely talking and hardly being friends the way they used to be, Pete Wentz, mid "you don't even know my kid, that's effed up" crisis iirc, saw that and went oh no my best friend is sad. I want to lift him up. and the only way he likes to hang out is making music. so let's make music. and that's how we got to Pete, for all of his songs about racing toward an abyss, returned to us with two kids. Patrick and Joe returned married. no one wanted out anymore. because Patrick poured his heart into a passion project that people hated and Pete saw his best friend sad on the internet. something something the poets are just kids who didn't make it, something something it's as though I've received some big cosmic sign that says I should disappear. so I've kind of disappeared. BUT. BUT. no matter how obsessed you've been with your own vanishing, there will always be someone who wants you whole. I just want you all to know that when I'm posting about Soul Punk and Spotlight (Oh Nostalgia) played live in the Year Of Our Lord Two Thousand And Twenty Three, this is a lot of why it makes me crazy.

remember when joe was the one who found patrick? remember when joe was the one who introduced pete and patrick? remember when joe had to talk pete into giving patrick a chance because he wasn’t sure of him at first? remember when no one saw patrick as a singer until joe did? remember when joe was the one who brought up the possibility of patrick being their singer to pete? remember when the whole band was joes idea in the first place? remember how fall out boy would not exist if joe hadn’t been there to hold everyone together? okay.

thinking of fake out and ‘love is in the air I just gotta figure out a window to break out’. thinking of how that links to ‘buried alive inside my dreams but it was all a fake out’. thinking of ‘make no plans and none can be broken’. thinking how this can be a vow to the world. thinking of holed up in homes, going insane in a swallowed pit of self destruction. thinking of the world needs a little less pete wentz. thinking of a boy who stuffed all of his feelings deep inside and vomited them back in the form of songs, even the good ones, being told even his love was too much, but loving with all of his heart anyway. thinking of how far he’s come and how he’s probably standing on a stage right now, fingers moving like fire on his bass, feeling like even though his love might still be too much, he’s found the people who want to take it. thinking of ‘but I’m not sad anymore’.
