I wanted to use this blog to demonstrate a bit of the personal side of making a business. We’ve sunk a lot of money into getting Spouti™ created so I make a lot of our tools myself. This time it’s a photo box! Taking good photos isn’t easy if you don’t have good lighting and right now spending 50 bucks on a lightbox and so here is our improvised version!  So far I’m happy with the results and I added a few extra holes so I can position the lights differently. It’s a work in progress and I will have to get familiar with the best angles - but I loved the photos I got with it and I wish I had made it before!

Trans Day of Visibility. I discovered I was Transgender at the age of 18, halfway through my senior year of high school. I came out to my best friend and one of my all time favorite teachers a month later. After that I didn’t come out to anyone until the night after I graduated, June 16th. And I came out to my mom. After that, I came out to different people at different times. My journey over the last four years has been a hard journey, not easy by any means, but it has been so much better than some of my fellow trans community members. I’m a grateful for the experiences I’ve had, and the milestones I’ve currently reached. May 2nd, 2018, the day that I started HRT. March 15th, 2019, my name was legally changed through the DMV on my drivers license to Alexander Powell. And every day since, I’m creating more memories and experiences to carry with me for the rest of my life. There are times where I wish I wasn’t trans. There are times where I wish I was cis. But, I wouldn’t change a single thing. Everything that I’ve been hit with in my life and have overcome, has taught me how to be me. Has shaped me into the young man that I am today. I wouldn’t change a single thing because every single day I am one step closer to completely loving the person I’m becoming. So, every year on March 31, I will celebrate this Trans Day of Visibility. I will celebrate it for those who can’t. I will celebrate it to embrace my identity, and be visible for those who can’t. I will celebrate it for everyone who has to stay closeted, or stealth, or who is shunned by their family and those in their community.
