Daily reminder that cancel culture only works on women.
James Charles collabs with new celebs. He has millions of views and fans despite the grooming that was so public. He came back.
Kanye West has millions of fans as well. His songs are still used for trends. People still shamelessly support him and use him to hate on Taylor Swift, despite his antisemitism and the fact he hailed hitler.
Johnny Depp, despite being proven guilty on some accounts, has amassed so much love and respect and has caused so much hate towards Amber. Despite his other accusations.
Donald Trump is running again. He has, again, millions of supporters, despite the rape jokes and allegations and racism.
Yet if we look at women, they don’t bounce back the same way.
Colleen Ballinger is still made fun of constantly and used as a joke for grooming & creepy behavior. Yes, she deserves this. So does James Charles & Donald Trump.
Amber Heard got so many hate comments and death threats for something we couldn’t even be sure of. Sure, she faked a few things, but both Amber and Johnny were both victims and perpetrators yet only she is affected constantly by it. He has bounced back.
People could argue Lana Del Ray bounced back from her cultural appropriation allegations, but haters still use against her whenever they justify their hate against any successful woman despite her charitable donations and actually sincere apology.
So yeah. Cancel culture only actually works against women.

If tHe sHoE wAs On ThE oThEr FoOt
Years ago when I was still an edgy atheistTM I used to listen to this show, they had an argument that I still find convincing. If parents are not obligated by law to give blood or tissue to a, say, 6 year old child of theirs, even if the kid dies as a result, a pregnant person should not be obligated by law to give their body to the foetus. Bodily autonomy is respected after birth. It should be respected before.
People in my shithole country die regularly because of "being aborted by the foetus". Technically there's an exemption. In actuality, no doctor wants to perform the abortion and you die.

Republicans have cottage cheese for brains because the baby does try to abort the mother like with regularity

I've seen this instance quite rarely so at this point it seems like complaining for nothing, but depicting Cadmus as holding modern views or ideologies (atheism, femisim etc.) it's just as worong as portraying him as having an outdated or primitive mentality even for a Bronze Age man.
If anything, a lot of these man's life choices and decisions were influenced and shaped by his respect (and fear) he held towards the gods. When he arrived at the Oracle of Delphi, he literally abandoned his mission and gave up rescuing Europa purely because the gods told him so. After he murdered the Ismenian Dragon he repented himself by serving Ares for eight years as a slave (keep in mind the fact that he was a prince at that time). When he was asked to follow a goddamn cow or to sow the dragon's teeth he did as he was told without questioning the divine authority. When Dionysus arrived in Thebes for the very first time him and Tiresias were the first to celebrate this even and try to adopt his cult before the entire fiasco. Dude is married to a LITERAL GODDESS, and had other deities as quests as well. No matter the myth version or the source (Save for the rationalizations, I quess?) it is pretty much implied in all of them that Cadmus is a religious man who worships many deities avoids pissing off the gods or defy them for his own peace and safety.
Now, on the Feminism part: while Cadmus indeed seems to have had a close, loving relationship with his wife and daughters, that doesn’t automatically mean that he was a Feminist in any way. People have to understand the fact that ancient people could've had multiple or different views on several socio-political aspects representative for those times, while those views could've simultaneously fit into an overall patriarchal society (Does it make sense?). Euripides, for instance, believed that having a daughter could bring happiness to her father, and that a daughter would therefore not be any more useless than a son to a father. He wrote: A father who is aging feels the sweetness of having a daughter. Boys have a prouder soul, but they are less tender and less affectionate. But this view, as ahead of those times as it seems, could've still be present in a society where men were ultimately perceived as the superior gender. Despite the fact that Cadmus made the active choice of being a loving and faithful husband to Harmonia, that doesn’t mean that he automatically viewed sexual fidelity as high key morality, especially in a society where having sex slaves wasn't uncommon.
Even though Cadmus seems to have had views or beliefs that might be considered progressive for that historical period, he was ultimately a Bronze Age man and a product of those times, meaning that he would still be considered "conservative" according to our contemporary views and that projecting modern ideologies or politics onto an ancient figure is inherently wrong because we have to be aware of the limits of these associations.

Heads up the e/riels are still continuing on the Gwyn is a child trend and one of them posted an anon of your post and is shitting on it
i responded. they are weirdos and i want nothing to do with their pathetic attempts to shit on gwyn.
when you get into the territory of weaponizing consent, SA, femisim, etc and ignoring the authors own thoughts on the subject at hand, you’re just proving how weak your stance is. no one with a good argument has to stoop to that level.
they are literally so weird. every day i wake up thankful i don’t ship a couple that requires me to be a gross and hypocritical person.

Steamy hot take, stop being mean to people when they ask questions.
No, seriously. When people are opening their minds and trying to learn, don’t slam their minds closed by being a jerk. I know there are some people asking questions in bad faith, if you realize that’s what’s happening block and go, or just don’t interact. You don’t have to answer at all if you don’t want to, nothing says you have to interact to begin with. Just don’t be rude is all? I remember when I was learning about feminism after escaping my edgy anti sjw phase as a kid. I would ask questions, pretty stupid ones sometimes, but I was being genuine and I would get shot down almost every time. It almost made me want to quit learning. It made me feel like I wasn’t welcomed in a community that was also meant for me as an afab person who identified with my agab at the time, but because I wasn’t as educated and didn’t know how to research I was treated like I was out to hurt people when I was just a dumb kid trying to learn. The other day in some tiktok comments I saw somebody ask, pretty nicely might I add, if trans people experience something similar to body dysmorphia but with their gender instead. A very easy question to answer, but I saw somebody in the comments calling them ignorant and that they should just look it up on google.. Absolutely not, that’s so rude. Google can be hard to use, especially if you don’t know exactly what you’re meant to be researching. You don’t know what you don’t know, yknow? If you can’t answer the question then don’t, but don’t literally insult people for trying to learn. I’d also argue that it can be a bit ableist to expect people to know how to research, or assume things are common sense. Some of us have learning disabilities. Fun fact, learning disablities don’t just stop once you leave school, they effect all learning. There are still some concepts that just won’t click in my mind, and it’s lead me to ask some goofy questions in the name of just trying to understand better.
Be patient, be kind, or just don’t answer if you don’t wish to. It’s very easy. tdlr: Don’t be rude to people asking questions, it closes of their minds and could chase them away from learning. It’s also just rude.
