Reading Session
Summary: Astarion walks in on you reading a rather suggestive book, and far be it from him to interrupt your learning process.
Pairing: Astarion x female!Tav
Warnings: 18+. Innuendo. Edging. PiV. Creampie. After care. Precum.
Word count: 3.5k
Author's note: Yes. The book exists in BG3. Thank you to @hmdeath for helping me find it 🩷
You flipped through the last pages of chapter four of ‘The Quarta Sune: A Guide to Sexuality, Eroticism, and Emotional Fulfilment’, your eyes widening slightly from all the intricate and rather impressive positions illustrated with some notes on how to maximise pleasure for both parties involved.
Needless to say, it had your heart racing as the faintest of throbs settled between your thighs. You bit your lip, pressing your legs together as the thought of putting some of these pointers in practice gradually took over.
You flipped back to chapter three, taking mental notes and humming softly as you rolled onto your stomach, placing the heavy book on your pillow.
‘If one is to indulge in the ‘Waterdeep Caress’, it is mandatory that the one on top sets the pace, looking into their lover's eyes.’
It seemed simple enough.
‘...one arm should be wrapped around their neck as the other is set on their chest, caressing a nipple with gentle fingers…’
You nodded attentively.
The images drawn across the pages had your undivided attention to the point you didn't even notice you were no longer alone in your room until a swift hand snatched the book from your grip.
You were about to voice out a protest, but ended up deciding against it once you realised who the perpetrator was.
Astarion.
Of course.
He looked as amused as ever, inspecting the cover before his gaze travelled down the page you had been so focused on.
“Reading ‘The Quarta Sune’?” he tutted with a knowing smile. “My, my… feeling naughty, are we?”
You were on your feet in an instant with both hands reaching out in a pointless attempt at retrieving the book.
“Give it back!”
He held it aloft, effortlessly keeping you at bay. “I don't think keeping secrets from me is very nice, is it?”
A rush of heat flooded your cheeks as you let out a groan of frustration. “Please. Just… give it back.”
“I am merely wondering why you'd need to resort to this in the first place, darling,” he asked, feigning hurt. “I'm an open book in these matters – you need only ask.”
And that was precisely why you had bought a copy from Nansi Gretta at The Blushing Mermaid.
Astarion was a very considerate lover, and you found yourself wanting to surprise him, too. To have a few tricks up your sleeve that he couldn't see coming his way.
But now you just felt disappointed as your plan vanished into thin air.
He was still holding your gaze, now with a hint of delight.
“This is not fair…” you eventually said, flopping onto the bed with a prolonged whine.
“Now, now, darling,” Astarion began, the mattress dipping under his weight as he sat down on the edge, caressing the nape of your neck. “Far be it from me to interrupt your studies.”
You groaned against the bedsheets, feeling the urge to throw a tantrum from having had your hopes crushed.
“Go on,” he said, shifting closer. “Tell me why you were so enthralled by it.”
Oh, he was goading you.
Of course he was.
He excelled at riling you up and smearing it in your face.
So you chose silence, scowling deeply.
His hand moved to your back, toying with the clasps of your nightdress.
“Pouting? Really?” he said with a click of his tongue.
But his taunt was only met with more silence.
He then began to tug gently, undoing each clasp with an expertise that only his level of dexterity could provide.
A chill ran down your freshly exposed skin, fingers pushing the fabric apart in their wake and travelling down your back.
That persistent throb in between your legs from before threatened to quicken as you caved under his touch.
You flinched away from his grasp, throwing him an irritated glance.
He held the book in his other hand, and extended his arm to you. “Feisty today, sweetheart? Here, have your book.”
With a pout, you promptly retrieved it.
Astarion chuckled, his eyes dropping to your chest. “Do carry on being a tease – I am rather enjoying the view myself.”
You followed his gaze, suddenly made aware that the sudden motion had caused your nightdress to come apart and roll down your arms, exposing your breasts.
“Shit,” you hissed, dropping the book and fumbling with fabric to regain your modesty.
But the damage was done and you were left all flustered under his unwavering gaze.
“Will you tell me why you were reading this book?” he insisted, offering a coy smile. “Was it a fit of depravity that overcame you?”
“No!” you said, the impending feeling of defeat looming over you. “I just… I wanted to see if I could find something – anything – to surprise you with.”
He cocked an eyebrow at you. “Surprise me? How come?”
Your face was swallowed in heat as your eyes darted to the book. “Well, you've probably read it, haven't you?”
“I haven't, but I reckon it's a pile of utter rubbish.”
What?
“But… I got it at The Blushing Mermaid.”
An understanding smile curled his lips. “All the more reason. See, darling,” he said, bringing his knuckles to caress your arm, “you don't learn these tricks from books.”
A frown settled on your face. “But…”
His hand found yours and he rubbed each finger with the pad of his thumb. “Experience is still the best teacher.”
“You're no fun,” you said, sticking your tongue out before rolling over on your stomach and snapping the book open to continue your reading.
For a moment, you chanted victory inwardly as not another teasing remark was heard from him.
But Astarion wasn't easily silenced.
Not for long, anyway.
You tried to focus on erotic drawings in front of you, ignoring how the bed shifted slightly under you.
And then each of his legs was on either side of your thighs, caging you under him.
“Very well, then,” he said, hiking the hem of your nightdress up until it was resting at the small of your back, exposing your backside to him. “If you're so adamant about this, who am I to deny you?”
You glanced over your shoulder and were met with the most devious grin ever.
What was he up to?
His hands settled on each cheek, groping the rounded and taut flesh underneath.
Oh…
He alternated between soft and firm squeezes for a long while, and you had already lost any semblance of concentration.
You felt him pat one cheek twice before his cool lips were suddenly at your ear, drawing a shiver from you.
“Astarion… what are you doing?”
You felt a soft kiss being pressed to your neck. “You're obviously eager to learn a few tricks from this book,” he whispered, as his hands travelled down your sides before gripping your waist rather firmly. “So teach me, darling.”
Inevitably, your eyes widened at his proposition and you immediately propped yourself on your elbows, turning your head to meet his eyes.
The new angle gave him the perfect opportunity to steal a kiss from you.
It was fleeting and clearly not his main focus, so he pulled from your lips.
“You are going to read to me your favourite passages.”
“What?”
“I am sure you've managed to find something interesting by now,” he carried on, pecking the tip of your nose. “And I don't mind being proven wrong about this book.”
It would have been easier to dismiss his request if his hardening cock wasn't so firmly pressed against the swell of your backside.
“I can just tell you…” you said, swallowing hard.
He simply chuckled. “You said I was no fun, so I am making sure this is fun.”
You gazed down at the open book in front of you, wetting your lips with the tip of your tongue.
“And, darling?” he called from behind you. “If you stop, I stop.”
And suddenly, the sound of fabric being ripped filled the room.
Your underwear had been effortlessly torn apart, granting him exclusive access to your now soaked core.
You shuddered under him, tilting your head to meet his crimson eyes. “What do you mean?”
“If you stop reading, I stop fucking you.”
The crudeness in his words was enough to draw a gasp from you, and mainly because you knew he meant what he said.
Astarion wasn't one to hand out empty warnings.
It soon dawned on you that he had caught a glimpse of the page you were currently gripping, providing him with enough material to use as leverage against you.
Fuck.
“Isn't this the one you want to try out?” he cooed, pressing his erection against your backside once more. “It seems like we are already halfway through.”
Instinct guided the next few rolls of your hips, yearning for more friction, not at all interested in wasting time reading anything from this book, when the subject of your desires was all you wanted to focus on.
But Astarion disagreed.
In fact, it was the loud tapping of his fingers next to the explicit diagrams of the ‘Prone Delight’ position that snapped you out of your lust-filled haze.
“Read it out loud.”
You groaned, frustration evident in your voice. “But you can see it…”
He pressed his strained cock harder into you and you yelped from the sudden pressure.
“Read. It.”
Somehow, you found the will to fix your gaze back on the now crinkled page, fingers quivering as you skipped the first steps of the visual guide, darting your eyes down until you found what to read out loud next.
The urge to arch your back nearly overtook you as you read through the instructions.
You cleared your throat. “‘As soon as your partner is flat on their stomach, proceed to place a firm pillow under their hips to elevate them to place them at an ideal angle.”
Astarion quickly darted to his side, launching forward to grip a pillow on the far end of the bed.
You glanced to your side as soon as you heard the sound of laces being unfastened, freeing his cock with a hiss of pure relief.
He pumped it twice as if urging it to harden even more.
“Why did you stop?”
You jolted from how harsh he sounded, but his tone had an immediate effect on your clit, causing it to pulse more intensely than before.
The bed dipped and creaked under his knees as shifted before patting the side of your waist. “Up.”
You immediately complied, raising your hips high enough for him to place the pillow under them, effectively causing you to gasp.
Astarion smacked your backside softly, urging you, and you felt a gush of wetness spill down your folds as you clenched again.
“‘The legs must be pressed tightly together to further increase the tightness’,” you said, but your voice faltered as soon as his firm hands were suddenly on your thighs, ensuring you followed the instructions, which caused your swollen clit to be squeezed in between your soaked folds. “Gods…”
He pulled away at once. “You stop, I stop, darling.”
You immediately clenched hard around nothing, your body yearning for his cock.
“Please…” you pleaded, wanting nothing more than to tear the page apart and spread your legs to invite him in.
Tough luck.
Astarion was in no mood to cooperate with your request.
“You wanted to surprise me, didn't you?” he cooed, lovingly stroking your plump cheek before giving it a squeeze. “Then go ahead and show me how you can keep your pretty head focused whilst taking my cock.”
Another clench.
A more violent one this time.
Followed by a groan of frustration as you desperately clawed at the book, knowing you'd have to carry on.
“‘The other partner must straddle their legs from behind and…’” your voice cracked when he positioned himself atop your thighs, his cock already nudging at your entrance. “... and…” Astarion stilled right away and you groaned. “... and slowly initiate the act of p-penetration’.”
He seemed satisfied enough with your performance as proceeded to drag his tip along your folds, coating it in your wetness.
“Like so?” he then asked as he slowly began to stretch you open, earning a sob from you from how thick he was.
“Yes…”
His thighs caged yours, preventing you from parting your legs as he struggled to bottom out.
“Gods… why do you have to be so tight,” he hissed in frustration, probably realising this position wasn't all that favourable. “Keep reading.”
You wanted to protest, but you just couldn't speak as you tried to take all of him in spite of your tightness.
And before you could feel full with his cock, Astarion withdrew from you in one swift motion, causing you to almost cry out.
“No! No…no…” you sobbed, feeling your walls squeeze as if that would magically bring him back inside. “Astarion… please…”
He had the nerve to chuckle. “Trust  me. I want nothing more than to sink all the way in, but we had a deal. Now, read.”
This was pure torture.
He was too good at making you crave him.
And you were too weak to resist him.
With newfound strength, you managed to move to the next step, sniffling. “‘A gentle pace should be initiated first, before setting for a more forceful one, with long and deep thrusts’...”
Just as expected, he was sliding back inside you once again, rewarding your perseverance.
“‘If there is any sign of discomfort, it is advised to halt at once’,” you managed to say in between throaty moans.
Astarion bottomed out before you could initiate the next sentence, letting out a delicious groan of pleasure.
You needed more.
You needed him to roll those sweet hips of his.
“‘It is advised to alternate the pace according to…’” A sobby moan left your throat as he slid all the way out before plunging back inside and setting a relentless pace. “... ‘...according to the partner's body language and vocal cues…’” You paused again as creamy lewd sounds filled your ears. It was getting harder and harder to keep your vision straight as he fucked you so good.
But, as soon as you failed to deliver an unwavering diction, Astarion stilled inside you, causing you to instinctively clench around his cock, silently urging him to move again.
“What's the matter, darling?” he mocked, caressing your backside with both hands, fingers digging into your flesh. “You wanted to teach me, so do it.”
There was nothing in this godsdamned book you could use to teach him.
And he knew it.
Astarion knew your body like the back of his hand. He knew what made it tick and what had you beg for more.
But still, you endured, as your lust for him overcame everything else.
“‘This position has been described as one that allows the partner on top to get as deep as possible whilst experiencing unprecedented tightness.’”
You weren't sure how you managed to say all of it in one go, but it was enough to have him slam into you harder than before.
It was almost embarrassing how easily soaked you got from being told what to do, but you didn’t care anymore.
And it seemed that Astarion was too lost in his own pleasure to notice you had stopped, so you allowed yourself to enjoy each thrust and groan you squeezed out of him.
He always sounded so pretty buried inside you.
His hands gripped your hips firmly, holding you in place as he rammed hard.
As expected, his pace never faltered, but you wanted to give him more incentive and flipped the page, ready to commence your diction.
“‘The suggested position after–”
But before you could continue, Astarion snatched the book in front of you and sent it flying across the room with a growl.
“Enough of that idiotic book,” he snarled, lifting your hips. “On your hands and knees.”
He kicked the pillow from under you, without sliding out.
Your muscles were slightly numb from the previous position and it took you a moment to adjust yourself.
Once he was sure you were ready for more, he pressed a hand down your back, causing you to arch for him.
“You're too soaked for this to last much longer,” he said, sliding all the way inside, his balls hitting your swollen clit. “You don't need a book to have me come undone for you, sweetheart.”
You shuddered.
It was almost criminal how good this man was with his words and body alike.
Your mouth dropped open as soon as he began to speed up once more, wet and creamy sounds being heard in between the snap of his hips against yours.
The familiar coil in your lower abdomen signalled how close you already were with each slap of his balls against your clit. Judging by his grunts and less spaced out hisses, you could tell your own climax would trigger his.
But you needed more.
You needed the sight that would have you topple over the edge.
So, you looked down along your body, almost whimpering from the view: a single thick strand of precum mixed with your own wetness was dangling from your swollen clit, swaying with each thrust.
Gods…
You took a deep breath, embracing the wave of pleasure that was about to hit you as you struggled to keep your eyes open.
It came all at once and your arms quivered under you until you had no choice but to fall forward on the side of your face as your climax violently tore through your entire body, initiating a sequence of contractions that further had you tightening around his cock.
It was almost blinding and your mind blanked at once a string of moans spilled from deep without you, breath taken away from your lungs.
Astarion cursed loudly and you knew then, even through your haze of pleasure, that he had reached his peak.
Each contraction aided him in spilling himself deep inside you, your body craving his seed.
You couldn't tear your eyes away from your clit and how swollen it was, parting your folds. Then, you shot a brief glance at his handsome face, wanting to witness it contorting in pleasure and relief as he rode out his own climax.
As you came down from your high, you began to see the first drops of thick cum dribbling down his balls as he began to pull out.
By the time he was fully out, a gush of cum leaked out, coating your folds and dripping from your clit.
It never ceased to amaze you how hard he always came… the amount of cum was obscene to say the least.
He nearly lost his balance and you saw his cock completely covered in cum as he growled through clenched teeth, his fangs fully visible.
Somehow, your knees hadn't quivered and you remained in the same position for a while, trying to make sense of what had just happened.
Eventually, you found your voice again. “You… shouldn't have thrown it away… it has some post-encounter care suggestions…”
Astarion was on his knees, his cock still hard and thick as his half-hooded eyes met yours. “Lay down.”
Was he not done ordering you around?
You chuckled weakly, but did as you were told.
He slid from the bed at once and you admired his backside as he sauntered across the room, taking a towel in his hand before returning to your side.
“On your back, darling,” he said, voice soft and caring as he placed a kiss on your flushed cheek. “Allow me to properly take care of you.”
You offered him a smile, eager for what was to come.
“You know, that was mean of you…” you said in between shallow breaths.
Astarion pressed a kiss to your forehead, parting your legs. “But was it fun?”
You chuckled, feeling your muscles sore. “No.”
He feigned hurt as he dabbed the soft towel along your folds, earning a jolt from you when it reached your oversensitive clit.
“Do not lie.”
A thick layer of his cum slowly dribbled from you, which he promptly wiped clean.
“It was mildly entertaining,” you groaned as he kept on pressing adoring kisses along your cheek. “I'm surprised you were able to hold back.”
“Oh, darling… I didn't.”
And for the next few minutes, you enjoyed the comfort that came with the silence of being next to the person you adored the most.
Astarion was a dedicated lover.
He would have you come undone for him, but he would ensure the after care was just as rewarding.
As such, he would clean you up and offer you water and even a bath. And if you couldn't walk? He would simply carry you.
But you never wanted it to be a one-sided courtesy.
He deserved to be taken care of just as much and you would often be the first to pat his cock clean with a soft piece of cloth.
Sometimes, you would aid each other simultaneously in between tired kisses and hugs, finding bliss in the trust that held you together.

Next Chapter
Chapter One:
His back ached as he climbed the few steps to his door. The passage back to his home was uncomfortable. All König wanted to do with collapse on his bed. The duplex he resided in was decent, the little old woman who rented it to him was very sweet. König had a hard time getting anyone to rent to him. His status as an Apex alpha was concerning for most people. They believed him to be violent and inconsiderate. His landlord is an omega that lives with her alpha mate. König managed to convince her. She thought he was sweet and kind. He opened the foyer door that lead to both apartments. He glanced at the mailbox, wondering if he should wait until morning. Begrudgingly, he took out the small mailbox key and fiddled the metal box open. He grabbed the plethora of mail and closed the box gently. The box was filled up quite a bit as he had not been home in a couple of weeks.
Heading up the stairs he filed through the mail. Most were junk coupons and magazines, some were credit card sign-up letters. One envelope caught his eye. It had no company name just a large white manila envelope addressed to him. He opened his door and stepped inside placing the mail and his belongings on his couch. He ripped open the envelope and took out a thin book. It had the circular logo of the AOMO, the Alpha Omega Match organization.
König started at the cover his heartbeat sped up the longer he thought about it. He signed up for the program after a particularly hard mission he had in KorTac. He left and joined the 141 and decided he wanted an omega. A lot of the men in the 141 had partners they could come home to. König wanted that. Most people were too afraid to be in a committed relationship with him. König often settled for one-night stands with betas but it left him feeling empty. He opened the packet to the first page.
'Congratulations!' The first word read. His heart beat harder the more he read.
'We have found you a match!' König's heart felt like it was going to pound out of his chest.
'In the plastic wrap, we've provided a fresh scent sample from your potential match. If you like the scent of your match, please send us a scent sample from you as soon as possible.'
König gripped the packet and leaned over the table, putting his weight on the table. He took a deep breath, he felt a mix of fear and excitement. When he signed up he was not hopeful for a match. He assumed his situation was too complicated for them. He flipped through the packet before reading the rest searching for the scent sample. A plastic bag fell out onto the table. It was sealed and had a verification sticker assuring its authenticity. König picked up the bag carefully. It had a square of white fabric inside it. He took his hood off before opening the bag gingerly. The scent instantly made his knees weak. This Omega had a warm and spicy scent. Coconut and sugary vanilla with hints of sandalwood. König stuffed his nose into the bag inhaling the deep rich smell of this Omega.
König sealed the scent sample wanting to savor it. He opened the packet back up to the first page. It said once he mailed his scent sample and was approved by his match, they would arrange a meeting with him and his match. There was more information about this Omega and their family along with the reasoning for them picking them. They informed him that this omega was a twenty-six-year-old female. Her father is also an Apex Alpha, he is retired American military. They did not provide a picture of any matches because they wanted the connection to be based on instinct rather than looks. Her mother is an Omega that works as a teacher. There is not much else about the Omega but, König is hopeful. He reads the instructions to send his scent sample. They provided a kit with a form envelope, a small square of fabric, and a plastic bag, almost identical to the one he received from his match.
'Wash your hands, and rinse any dirt off of your scent glands.'
'Then remove the fabric from the plastic.'
'Rub the fabric on your clean scent glands for 20-25 minutes.'
'Seal the fabric thoroughly in the bag provided .'
He shed his vest and protective gear, the last thing he wanted was for her to smell dust and gunpowder on him. König tried to quell his excitement as he followed the directions. Rushing to his bathroom and then back to his dining room. The fabric square was slightly smaller than his palm. He cupped the crook of his neck, sandwiching the fabric between his hand and his neck. He rubbed gently filling it with his scent. He read the rest of the packet as he rubbed. The rest was mostly semantics about the company and its policies. He combed it a few more times trying to memorize every piece of information about his Omega.
König smiled gently, he shouldn't think of her as his yet. She smelled so good, too good for him. He smelled the cloth every once in a while to ensure his scent was potent enough. When he was done he placed it in the bag and sealed it. He filled out the form and packed the pre-paid envelope neatly. He grabbed his keys and left his apartment to go to the mail drop-off on the corner of the block. He needed to send it today, he wouldn't be able to sleep if he didn't. He walked back to his apartment having long forgotten about his back pain.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You looked at the list on your phone pushing your shopping cart. Buying the week's groceries had fallen to you this time as your mother was dealing with state testing for her students and your dad was on a hunting trip. You maneuvered the isles expertly collecting the items on your list. As well as some extra sweet snacks you like to indulge in much to our mother's chagrin. You were about to put a pack of Oreos in the cart when your mom called.
“Hello?” You answered but all you can hear was excited screeching. You held the phone away from your ear until she quieted down.
“He accepted you!!!” She screamed.
“What? Mom, you're too loud.”
“The match company! The match they picked liked your scent.” She giggled.
You were slightly stunned. Your parents signed you up for the AOMO when you were eighteen. You weren't that on board with it but you let them. You know they only want the best for you. You kept sending scent samples every year but they never got back to you about anything. Now, six years later they show up with a match for you.
“I just got the call, they're sending a scent sample for you right now it's gonna get here in a few days.”
“Wow...” That was all you managed to say.
“Now I know this wasn't your ideal way to meet someone, but just please be open-minded sweetheart.”
You sighed. “I will. I'm finishing up at the grocery and I'll head home.”
“Alright, I'm gonna be home soon too, bye sweetie.”
You hung up the phone and stood in the aisle. You placed the pack of Oreos in the cart and moved to get the rest of the items before checking out.
When you arrived home your mother was there waiting. She squealed and hugged you before helping you take the grocery bags inside.
“I am so excited for you! I have heard so many good things about the AOMO. I bet whoever they picked is gonna be great.”
“Let's hope.” You say.
The next few days went by quickly. You dove into writing your next few chapters to take your mind off of the match. The sequel to your best-selling fantasy novel was underway. Your days consisted of writing, planning, engaging with fans, and talking to your editor. You typed out the outline for the next few chapters when you heard a knock.
“Come in.” You said.
Your mother walked in holding a large envelope. “Guess what came today?” She said excitedly.
 Your heart thumped with anxiety. She placed the envelope on your desk.
“I’ll leave you to it, let me know if you like them.” She sauntered out of the room happily.
You picked up the envelope and opened it pulling out a packet of information. You flipped to the first page.
‘Congratulations!’ It read.
‘The match we have chosen for you wants to meet you. Once you contact us with your acceptance of their scent, we will arrange for them to meet you and your family with the chaperone of one AOMO agents to facilitate. The two of you will go on a date and get to know each other before deciding whether to move forward. If you do not accept the scent, we will put you back in our database to be matched with someone else.’
In the middle of the pages, there was a plastic bag with a white cloth in it. You picked it up and sighed. You doubted you would like the scent. Most alphas were off-putting to you, either way too strong of a scent of they smelled like dishwater. You opened the bag casually and took a whiff. Your inner Omega preened at the musk that erupted from the bag.
“Oh my…” You inhaled deeply.
This Alpha…smelled good? He smelled like chocolate and dark roast espresso. There were some hints of fresh baked bread and cinnamon. You caught yourself before you got lost in his scent. You sealed the bag up and took a breath. Maybe, this would be a good experience for you. You scanned through the rest of the information looking over what little they provide about this Alpha. He is a male Alpha, non-American but they did not specify what country. The only other thing they said about him was that his demeanor was shy and that he is military. The instructions said to call the number if you wanted to meet him. You reached for your phone a little too eagerly and dialed the number. A woman’s voice answered.
“Hi, you’ve reached the Alpha Omega Match organization how may I help you?”
“Hi, um I got an Alpha’s scent in the mail, and I want to meet him.” You said awkwardly.
“What’s your name and date of birth?” You told her, nervously.
“Please hold while I transfer you.”
The light piano hold music came on, you fidgeted with your sleeve.
“This is Kara, how may I help you?”
“Oh hi, I got an Alpha’s scent in the mail and I would like to meet him.”
“Alright, let me get your file from reception she’s sending it right now…Ah got it. Oooh ok great I am your agent that will be facilitating this meeting. Your parents will want to meet him yes?”
“Definitely.”
“Ok so, what we will do is you and your parents will meet me at a public space of your choice then. I will bring you to meet the Alpha first, then your parents. We like to keep parent meetings brief as they tend to try and challenge the Alpha. I will have you know, this Alpha is an Apex like your dad. That is one of the reasons we chose you as his match, you have experience with an Apex. Will you be comfortable with all that?”
“Yeah, that’s fine.” Your head was reeling from all this information. Great, I see you guys are in New York City which is one of my favorite places to visit. Do you have anywhere in mind to meet?”
“Um, we could do the Highline, there’s food, and it's pretty.”
“Oh, that’s a great idea let me write it down here. How does September ninth at noon sound to you? A weekday so there are not too many people.”
Your heart jumped, that’s in two days.
“Uh, sure.”
“Alright, I will send you a follow-up email regarding our plans all you need to do is confirm. Your match will be notified, and his flight will be booked as soon as we receive confirmation. Do you have any other questions?”
“No not at the moment.”
“Ok, don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any concerns. I will see you in a few days.”
“Bye.”
You put your phone on your desk and walked out of your room. Your mother was standing a few feet away from your door. When she noticed you, her face lit up.
“So? How was the scent? Are you meeting them?”
You smiled and nodded “Yup, in two days.”
She squealed and captured you in a bone-crushing hug.
“I can’t wait! Let’s go tell your father!” She practically ran down the hall.
You walked to your living room where your otherwise stoic-looking dad was watching TV.
“Tell us about them, sweetheart.” Your mother said. Your dad turned the volume on the TV down and looked at you expectantly.
“Well, I don’t know much but, I know he’s not American and that he might be shy…He smells good.”
“That’s important, I hope you wouldn’t pick someone who smells like shit.” Your dad chimed in.
“He’s also military, and an Apex.” You added quickly.
Your mother gasped quietly, and your father raised his eyebrows.
“Now that’s intriguing.” Your mom said smiling.
“You already booked a meeting with him?” Your dad asked. You nodded.
“You should’ve asked me first.” He pinched his nose bridge in annoyance.
“Well, he’s my match and I wanted to meet him.”
“Apex Alphas are dangerous. I would know.”
“Oh, please honey it’ll be fine.” Your mother ridiculed him.
“It’s my choice, Dad. You guys are the ones who signed up, I finally got a match, so I want to see it through. If it doesn’t work out, then I’ll call it off.”
Your father growled lowly. “Fine.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your mother insisted to dress you in a cutesy outfit, so you let her have her moment. She dressed you in a dark floral dress that hugged your curves just right. She added dainty jewelry along with your protective collar. You didn’t usually wear it but again, she insisted. She did your hair half up half down. Your dad was waiting by the front door with your mom’s purse in hand.
The train ride there was silent, your mother looked utterly content while your father was peeved about this whole situation. You arrived at the station and walked to the Highline. You got a text from Kara telling you what she looked like and where she was. She was wearing a dark blue pencil skirt and a white blouse. She stood up as you and your family approached. You stuck your hand out to shake hers.
“Nice to meet you guys, come sit.” She said motioning to the bench she was on.
Your father stayed standing while you and your mother took a seat next to her.
“So, there are some things I want to go over with you all and then I’ll talk to you privately and do the official meeting ok?”
“He’s here?” You said in an almost panicked tone.
Kara chuckled. “He is here but I left him to wait somewhere out of sight for now.”
She continued. “His name is König, he was born in Austria. When we did his psyche and personality evaluations, we found that he has neurodivergent tendencies, like you. Our matches with people that have a similar way of communicating have gone well.”
“Wait, neurodivergent?” Your mom chimed in.
“Yes, your daughter did show signs of some behavioral abnormalities, but she is high functioning.”
“I told you that Mom.” You say giving her a deadpan look. Your mother looked down and gave a small ‘hmm’. Kara continued.
“He does struggle with social anxiety so please be patient with him. Other than that, he currently lives in Amsterdam, if you choose to go forward that is where you will live.”
Your dad finally spoke “Is Amsterdam safe for people like us?” He asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Oh yes, Amsterdam has many people from different places and backgrounds. It is one of the most popular immigration and tourist countries, don’t worry.”
“Alright, how about you come with me, and we’ll get your meeting started.”
Kara led you away, you turned and did a small wave to your parents your mom smiled back at you warmly.
“So, I will be in contact with you the whole time. If you want to go just say the word, I am never going to be more than a couple minutes away. Honestly, I don’t think you’ll have any issues with him.”
She led you to a restaurant below the high line, it had indoor and outdoor seating. There were a lot of people laughing and drinking. Your heartbeat sped up as you scanned the crowd. The scent of food entered your nose. Everyone’s scent in the dining area mixed into an indescribable concoction. Among the borderline overwhelming smells, you got a hint of something familiar, espresso.
You scanned the large room trying to pinpoint where it was coming from or if you were just imagining it. I dark figure near the corner of the room caught your eye. He looked way too large for the chair he was sitting in. He was looking down at his hands, dirty blonde hair covered his forehead. He was wearing a black cloth mask along with a form-fitting black shirt. As soon as you walked in he raised his head. You looked away pretending you weren't staring at him. Kara led you straight to his table.
“This is König.” She gestured to him.
He stood up to shake your hand still keeping himself hunched at the waist to appear smaller. You shook his hand and smiled as you introduced yourself. He nodded and said a small 'hmm' to acknowledge you.
“Alright, I'll be near. Have fun.” Kara left swiftly.
You sat down in the chair across from him as he did the same. A wave of anxiety came as you did, not knowing how to break the ice with him. You picked up the menu and scanned it.
“Did you order yet?” You ask.
“No, I was waiting for you.”
“Well thank you, what looks good?”
“The Steak frites look pretty good.” He glued his menu.
“I'm excited for dessert, they have chocolate cheesecake.”
He chuckled and it made your stomach flip.
“You like sweets?” He asked.
“Very much.” You smile at him.
The waitress came over and asked if you wanted any drinks. König looked at you, waiting for you to order first.
“I'll try the elderberry gin and tonic.” You said.
Konig was about to order when the table next to us erupted in loud laughter. He jumped slightly before answering the waitress.
“I'll get the house Lager.” He said.
The waitress left to grab the drinks. The adjacent table was still very loud. The group of friends hollering and screaming obviously day drunk. Konig had his head slightly turned away from them in an attempt to lessen the noise. It was subtle but you could tell. You reached into your bag and brought out a pair of foldable headphones. You turned on the noise cancellation and gave them to him. He looked slightly confused.
“Put them on.” You encourage him.
When he did the noise muffled and the restaurant was much quieter. You could see the tension in his shoulders ease by the second. His scent sweetened
“Is that better? Can you hear me ok?”
König swears he could've kissed you right then and there, but he settles on a nod.
“Thank you, Leibe.”
“No problem.”
The waitress came by with the drinks and asked if the two of you are ready to order entrees. You ordered the fish and König ordered the Steak. While you waited, you two had a pleasant small talk about his flight and how he is enjoying his visit. He hesitated to take off his mask at first so you focused on your menu to give him the space to be comfortable with you. You glanced up and took in his face. He was beautiful, he had scars on his face that added ruggedness to his chiseled features. König noticed your scent amplify as you gazed at him. His inner alpha pushed him to be closer, to know more about you.
“So, you're in the military?”
He nods. “I work for a military contractor. Do you work?”
“Sort of, I'm an author so I work from home.”
“That is nice, are you published?” König was secretly very happy he'd get to have you at home all day.
“Yes, I am. I'm working on my sequel right now. Do you like to read? Or, do you read in German?”
He chuckled. “I have not had much time to read lately, but I will now.”
“Well, you have to buy my book of course.” You giggled.
König nearly fell off his chair at the sound. This Omega was everything he wanted. He prayed to whatever god was up there that you felt something with him. By the time the food came you both fell into a comfortable rhythm. He asked about your childhood and hobbies. It was a change of pace, most Alphas are very self-centered, but he is putting effort into getting to know you. The food came out and you both ate. He offered bites of his food for you to try which you happily returned the favor. By the time you finished your food, you hadn't noticed how much time has gone by. Kara texted you to check-in.
'Hey, so I saw things were going well so I let you guys talk for an hour and a half but, your parents are getting antsy. Are you guys ready to see your parents?'
“Oh, Kara is asking if we're ready to see my parents.”
König fiddled with his fork. “I'm ready.”
He paid the bill and you both left the restaurant. You took in the full size of the Alpha you matched with. He was no less than a giant. He held the door for you but stopped before he walked through.
“I forgot something, I'll be back.” He walked back into the restaurant.
Kara walked up to you. “How did it go?”
“I...really like him...”
“I know, that feeling is scary. I think you guys are a wonderful match.”
König came out holding a small to-go box. He handed it to you, you could tell he was smiling under his mask.
“What's this?”
Inside the box was a slice of chocolate cheesecake and a fork.
“We forgot to order dessert.”
You were stunned, you didn't think there could be Alphas that were so thoughtful. Your inner Omega soared, this Alpha was courting you so well.
“Thank you, König, that's really sweet.”
“Ah, here they are.” Kara said.
Your parents walked up to the three of you. Your mother had a surprised but happy look on her face. Your father kept his deadpan face from earlier, not a good sign.
“Wow, sweetheart you caught a big one!” Your mom chuckled.
“Parents, this is König.” Kara said.
Your mother introduced herself and your father as he stood there sizing up the taller Apex.
“Alright, let's keep things brief parents do you have any questions for König?”
“Well, as long as she likes him I don't.” Your mother said.
“Can you protect her?” Your dad asked putting some venom behind his words.
“I would never let anything happen to her sir. You have my word.” König answered without hesitation.
Your dad nodded and looked at you. “You like him?”
“...Yeah I do.”
“Alright then, that's all that matters.”
“Well, I think it's safe to say that the match is made. I will contact you for the next steps. Parents, let's let them say goodbye.” Kara led your parents away.
You turned to König. “Thank you for meeting with me, I had a really good time.” You saw a faint blush at the top of his mask.
“I also had a good time, liebe.”
“What does that mean?”
“Ah...it means love.”
“Oh well...” You motioned for him to come bend down close to you.
When he got close enough you pecked his cheek.
“I'll see you soon, love.”

‘’Did you see my green highlighter?’’
‘’No. I have a blue one, here.’’ You fished it from your pencil case, but Ethan didn’t take it.
‘’I can’t use blue.’’
‘’I have pink, yellow and orange if you prefer—’’
‘’No. That’s not what I meant. I have a color code. Green is for the things I understand, blue is for what I don’t understand and the glittery gel pen is for underlining things that I think are gonna be in the exams.’’
Fondness filled your stomach. He was so precious and nerdy at the same time. You reached across the bed to grab the collar of Ethan's henley and kissed him sweetly.
‘’Eh…what was that for?’’ Ethan asked, a little dumbfounded. ‘’I love your kisses, it’s just that we really need to study—’’
‘’You are such a nerd.’’ You kissed him again, lingering your lips on his. ‘’But I love you.’’
Ethan’s cheeks flushed the cutest shade of pink. ‘’I love you too.’’
You went back to studying, reading pages of textbooks until your eyes burned. Why was there so much to read in econ? Maybe you should switch majors?
‘’Have you read the chapter about taxation?’’ Ethan asked, a pen in one hand and a highlighter in the other. ‘’My mind is literally going to explode from the amount of information.’’ His eyes were fixated on his textbook, concentrated on what he was reading.
A breath of air left your lips. ‘’I have not. Sorry.’’ You ran a hand through your hair, flicking through pages with your other. ‘’I’m like…two chapters behind.’’
Ethan snapped his head up. ‘’Two?! What have you been doing all this time? Mrs. Coleman is gonna question us about these chapters next lesson.’’
He was right, but you had been studying for over three hours and nothing was sticking to your brain anymore. Your learning batteries were full for today. Maybe you’ll bring your textbook to your shift at the campus library tomorrow. Thursday afternoons are always quiet.
Before you, Ethan had returned to his reading, pen cap between his teeth while he was underlining long paragraphs. Sometimes, you wished he wasn’t so serious during study dates. School was important, but it doesn’t mean you can’t take a few makeout breaks.
You tried getting back to reading, but the words were not sticking. So you threw a paperclip at Ethan. It hit his chest and you grinned amusedly.
‘’Hey! Stop throwing shit at me,’’ he scolded, throwing it back at you.
‘’Let’s take a break.’’
Ethan shook his head. ‘’Can’t. I have another chapter to read and then I’m meeting with a study group.’’ He checked the time on his phone, making sure he wouldn’t be late.
A study group? You thought you were going out for late dinner at the café right outside campus. They have this new breakfast all day menu and you couldn’t wait to have waffles for dinner.
You pouted in disappointment. Guess there won’t be any waffles tonight…
‘’Can we at least cuddle before you go?’’ you asked, impatient to wrap your whole body around Ethan like a koala and kiss his face while he holds you back with his strong arms.
Your question was left pending and you were tempted to chuck a pillow at the curly haired nerd before you — but you didn’t. Instead, you took advantage of focused attention and removed your shirt and bra without him noticing. You felt a shiver up your spine when the cool air of Ethan's dorm hit your warm skin, causing your nipples to peak.
Ethan was addicted to your tits. Maybe he’ll put down his textbooks for a few minutes.
‘’This part is really important. Do you think we should make flashca—’’ Ethan cut himself and you heard him make a little noise, his bambi eyes falling on your breasts exposed right before him. The pen he was holding fell from his grasp and you smirked.
You felt the weight of Ethan’s eyes on you, all the information he just read suddenly swept away. ‘’What is it you were saying?’’ You let your hand crawl up his jeans-covered thighs and a swallow bobbed its way over his adam's apple when you almost reached his crotch. ‘’Cat’s got your tongue, love?’’
Ethan opened his mouth to speak, but your hand was getting higher and higher. A whimper slipped from his lip when you reached your desired spot, feeling him growing stiff beneath your palm. It’s so good to tease him.
He reached for your breasts, his palms enclosed over them, kneading into them as his eyes lit up like a kid in a candy store.
You sighed in pleasure, grazing your fingers along Ethan’s jaw. ‘’How many chapter do you have left again?’’

pairing: Spencer Reid x gn! reader warnings: not proofread words: 832 summary: 3 different ways Spencer shows he loves you
masterlist
one Spencer often went away for long periods of time, it came with having a job at the BAU. Despite missing him and disliking how quiet your home becomes, you knew what you were getting into. You would never stop him from going on a case, no matter how little time you get to spend with him in between.
The longing for your partner was not onesided. There were times Spencer hated to be away for so long, to come home for a few days before leaving you again. He disliked how lonely he felt at night, the bed in the hotel felt too large without someone else there.
It's why he was out and about in whatever city he was in at the time. He would send you photos of things that remind him of you. Maybe some blooming flowers out front of a store. A dog that vaguely looks like you. A couple of birds sitting on a branch together.
Sometimes they would be accompanied by messages. 'thinking of you'. 'doesn't it kinda look like you?'. 'did you know these birds mate for life'. Just small facts or messages that always bring a smile to your face.
It helped ease the loneliness when he was away, knowing he was thinking of you just as much as you were thinking of him.
two While you weren't as much of a book addict as Spencer, you enjoyed reading. You often asked the man to recommend one for you to read. It always brought a smile to his face as he rambled on about the plot and characters, ensuring he did not give anything away. You read at a much more leisurely pace than your partner who could read large chapter books like it was a small letter.
Sometimes you were a bit jealous of his ability to read so fast, not wishing to wade through a large part of the text before getting to the exciting part. But you could not help but enjoy curling up in a chair with a cup of tea and a good book.
Persuasion by Jane Austen was the book you were currently reading, being recommended after expressing a desire for a romance book. But as you read you began to notice small annotations hastily scribbled in Spencer's handwriting. Somewhere about the characters or the thoughts on the themes. But some were drawing parallels to your relationship.
The more you read the less the annotations became about the book and more about your relationship. You found it endearing, more reading the book to get to the next annotation than the next chapter. A stupid love-sick smile graced your face as your eyes skimmed over the writing squeezed in between paragraphs.
The sound of footsteps graced your ears as you quickly began finishing the page you were on. "Enjoying the book?" Spencer's voice rang out, wanting to ensure his recommendation was right. Glazing up at him from the book your smile only grew. "Yes, I am. But I find myself liking the annotations better."
It took a moment for Spencer to understand before the tip of his ears flushed red as well as his cheeks. His eyes flicked downwards as he grappled with what to say. Deciding to give him a break you speak again. "I find them very cute. Shows how much you love me."
three It wasn't often that Spencer had time to sleep in, not getting up at the crack of dawn to get an early start on his work. So, you wanted to do something sweet for him, and what was better than breakfast in bed? What you didn't account for was him waking up before you were finished.
Humming a tune to yourself, you failed to hear the patter of sock-clad feet on the floor. Too busy making sure you didn't overcook the eggs in the frying pan. When two lanky arms wrapped around your middle, it caused a squeak of surprise to be pulled from you. The spatula in your hand dropped onto the counter in surprise.
Soft, muffled laughter filled the room, a mop of brown curls invading your vision as Spencer buried his face into your shoulder. A small huff leaves you, realising your surprise is ruined. "You're meant to be asleep." You whined though a small smile played on your lips, enjoying the sleepy back hug you were receiving.
"Sorry, darling. I just missed you in bed." His voice was rough with sleep, clearly having only woken up moments ago to an empty bed and set out to find you. Reaching one hand up you ran your fingers through his messy hair pulling a small hum of pleasure from him.
"Why don't you go back to bed? I'll bring breakfast and we can spend the morning there?" You offer softly, it takes a moment before you feel a soft nod. Spencer untangling himself from you before trudging off to bed once more, a small lovesick smile on his face.

[Main Masterlist]
Not beta read
You notice him one day.
A year into your relationship and Marc is fed up with Steven and yours overflowing books on the floor of the flat. “We need another bookshelf.” He grumbles at your suggestion because he would just get rid of some if he had the choice.
That’s how you find yourself curled up on the couch with some tea and ironically a book while you watch Marc put together the new shelf you and Steven picked out.
It was ornate with cherry wood accents and came with a miniature ladder to help you reach the top shelf. You didn’t think it would be too complicated but it seems as Marc stares at the pages like they are ancient hieroglyphics, you may have caused a bit more of a headache than you intended.
He mutters something incoherent under his breath ‘déjeme ver’. You don’t bother to ask if he needs help when the scowl on his face deepens even further into an almost unrecognizable version of your boyfriend.
You glance up occasionally to watch the way his back strains against the tight black t-shirt, or the way his ass looks in his jeans when he bends over. Marc and Stevens movements are so unalike and yet even now the way he stands up and straightens as he rolls his neck is so unlike Marc.
You stop ogling to resume your book and find yourself several chapters in when you look up to see it finished. “Oh honey, it looks so good.”
The look he gives you when he turns around is more of a smirk of amusement. You glance down briefly to mark your page before standing from the couch to inspect his handy work. You don’t notice the way he’s watching you as you slide your hands along the smooth wood shelves. You grab a few of your favorite books that were piled on the floor and strategically place them in some specific secret order that no one but you is privy to.
You turn to him and wrap your arms around his neck, waiting for him to scoop you up as he usually does. His hands hover hesitantly at your waist and then he pulls you flush against him. You almost have no room to breathe as you chuckle lightly into his neck. You swear he smells your hair before he abruptly lets you go.
“Hi love, do you like the bookcase?” Your sweet Steven has a slightly wild look in his eyes as waits for your response.
“Of course I do, we picked it out together silly.” You lean in and kiss him on the cheek and he relaxes at your touch. “If you’re listening Marc, I love it, since you disappeared on me.”
“Right ya…Marc. He says you're welcome.”
  ****
  You notice one day
You had spent all afternoon preparing a special dinner and dessert for Marc. The flat is adorned with candles and smells of fresh pasta and apple pie.
When Marc walks through the door you can see it written all over his face. He doesn’t say anything about you making his favorites because technically it’s not his birthday. It’s the day after.
You enjoy each other's company in comfortable silence as you wait for him to finish. He raises an eyebrow at you as you hand him a small box, unwrapped because then it’s not a birthday gift.
He opens it slowly to reveal his watch that broke months ago, the small hand ticking away right in front of his eyes.
  You should thank her mate
She didn’t need to do all this for my birthday
Well it’s technically not anymore is it?
He doesn’t say anything but you decide to press on with your plan. Even if it’s not exactly the reaction you were expecting at the very least he’s not protesting it.
“I have one more thing.” You stand from the table and head to the kitchen to retrieve the apple pie on warm in the oven. To you it’s just a dessert, a non cake related dessert that just so happened to be his favorite. Steven helped you with the vegan crust because he was not about to let Marc have all the fun.
You return to the table with a slice and a fork to share. He stares at it for a moment and your heart sinks a little.
  “I know what you’re going to say…”
He cuts you off before you can finish, he stands so suddenly it startles you. He kisses you slowly at first, savoring the way you moan into his mouth. His hand is on the back of your head and the other around your waist and it feels so different. It’s like you’re sending him off to war and this is the last kiss you’ll ever share. Your lungs burn from lack of air but you don’t want to be the first one to break.
He pulls away as you look up at him. His eyes are squeezed so tightly shut as he tries to catch his breath.
  “Honey,look at me.”
His brow softens as he opens his eyes revealing that deep chocolate brown, with a look that could only adorn your sweet Stevens face.
  “Thank you, love.”
  ****
It goes like this for a while. You noticing him…him noticing you.
You notice as You quirk your eyebrow at him in the kitchen when he picks out the tomato on his sandwich and drops it in the trash like it personally wronged him.
  “I thought you liked those?”
He notices After a long day at work in shoes you know we’re too uncomfortable he picks up your feet and places them in his lap. He rubs them at first bordering on painful that settles into something soothing. His fingers brush the bottom of your feet and you flinch at the ticklish feeling. He tsks at you under his breath and you still your movements when you meet his unfamiliar eyes.
You notice When he doesn’t hear you enter the flat. He’s at the kitchen sink washing dishes, shirtless in those gray sweatpants you love. He’s humming some tune you’ve never heard as you place your things down and toe off your shoes. You didn’t mean to startle him as your cold hands met his side and he turned quickly knocking a glass off the counter.
“Mierda quédate ahí!” You don’t speak Spanish but you’re too stunned to move anyway. He grabs you with one arm around your waist and carries you like a duffel bag over to the couch away from the glass.
“Sorry love, clumsy me. I’ll get this cleaned up.” Steven doesn’t look at you as he grabs the broom from the closet.
  ****
He notices when he slinks in through the window in the early hours. It’s still dark outside as he strips himself of his moon knight clothes, the blood only distinguishable on his hands. As he slips past you to the shower he can see your shallow breaths while you lay out flat on the bed.
After a while you feel the bed dip beside you as you try to calm your breathing. He wraps his arm around you as he pulls your back flush to his chest. His breath is hot on your neck and you can feel his heart beating rapidly against you.
“You’re a terrible faker mi amor.” Your breath hitches in your throat as he speaks the words into your ear.
“You have to slow down your breathing if you want to pretend to be asleep.” His voice a low growl as he places his hand on your chest. You can feel him take slow deliberate breaths as you try to match the rise and fall of his chest. ‘así’
“This isn’t how you lay when you're asleep.” His hand leaves your body momentarily and you miss the heat of his touch. He grabs your thigh behind the knee and pushes it gently until it’s bent. His hand slowly guides you to your stomach while his other arm supports the weight of your head.‘es mejor’
He envelopes you under the blankets and it takes all your willpower not to roll him over and straddle him. You don’t even know him. He buries his face in your neck and sniffs again inhaling your scent. You’re practically skin to skin in your satin slip dress and his bare chest and boxers.
“Is this okay?” His voice barely above a whisper as you nod your head. His lips ghost over your back before he kisses your shoulder. It’s those soft sleepy kisses adorning your body until the real sleep claims you both.
  ****
You awake to the feel of cold sheets beside you as you feel around for him. A sliver of light hits the room from the bathroom door slightly ajar.
“I swear to god Jake, if you fuck this up.”
Jake -he has a name
It’s mostly Marc speaking idle threats as you listen in to a one sided conversation. Whatever his reservations may be, it's none of your business. You do know that he would never do anything intentionally to fuck this up.
Your boyfriend exits the bathroom still dressed only in his black boxers. “Love…we need to talk to you about something.”
He sits on the edge of the bed as he rubs circles on your legs under the sheets.
  “I know.”
They knew…it’s why they can’t be mad when you finally talk about the stranger. You fell in love with him a long time ago. The one they tried to keep a secret. He no longer wanted to be kept in the dark. He loves you too much. This stranger in your house.

Studying with Captain Price
I wrote this while studying for my midterms and wishing Price would offer me incentives for every chapter I finish.
Tw: smut, age gap, a bit of dumbification, mention of marriag, f!reader
Imagine you're sitting, eyes glued to your laptop's screen, chewing at the end of your pencil as you scan through the thousands of useless words to find the overall important idea. Another huff from you as you see that you still have more than seventy pages to go through, made John tut and crack his knuckles as he gets off the couch and makes his way to you. Without a warning, stealthy like a fox approaching its prey, his hands wrap around your waist, lifting you up just barely so he could slide under you and sit you on one of his thighs. "You're being fussy, baby. Stop complaining, you need to study and get that degree so i can put a ring on that finger" he reminds you. His fingers lace with yours before leaving a soft kiss onto your knuckles. Encourages you to keep studying, pressing open mouthed kisses on your neck every once in a while, pinching your thighs at every complaint you let out, and when he sees you reaching for your phone for some distraction from the two billion pages chapters, his hips would thrust up, reminding you of what you should be doing.
And really, it should be encouraging, it should keep you focused, the promise he made about making you his after you finally graduate. But it doesn't. Instead your mind is filled with ideas. They began sweetly, thinking of the ring he'd get you, the songs that'd be playing, the night of as he peels the white dress off of your body. You hummed at the thought, staring dumbly at the bright screen of your laptop, it didn't go unseen by the big man. He chuckles, lips on your neck again, renewing the hickeys he left a few days ago. "Pretty baby, what's distracting you, hmm?"
Why was he even asking? it's obviously his fingers slipping the hem of your nightgown up, only to start thumbing at the elastic of your cute cotton panties. It's obviously the way his teeth are grazing the tender skin of your throat when you roll your head back. It's obviously how he pushes you off of him slightly to release his aching cock, only to bring you back down, moving your panties to the side so he can settle into your warm walls. "Come on, study well baby. I need to show you off. Make all the other boys jealous of my pretty, smart, kind girl, yeah?"
And you'd whine and whine and whine, whimper with each of his thrusts. He's so mean, making sure to go even deeper whenever you'd finish a slide or a page, making sure to still his hips whenever you'd take too long. He's so mean, making you cockwarm him, scolding you when you'd start to move your hips, threatening to leave you all alone in your misery. He's so gentle when you'd start to really get frustrated, tears pricking your eyes, even you're not sure if you're irritated at him or at that stupid course. He hushes you "Alright baby, need a small break?" He doesn't wait for your answer, pushing your laptop and notebooks aside, lifting you up and softly pushing you against the table, pressing your chest to the cold wood. He's palming at your hips and waist as he sets up an agonising slow pace. Is he teasing you, punishing you, or trying to calm you down? Whatever it is it doesn't last long, a plea escaping your lips is all it took for him to pick up the tempo of his movements. His pretty tip would nudge your cervix with each of his thrusts, his chest would brush against your back when he'd kiss your nape. And soon enough his sweetness would dim only to be replaced by an animalistic instinct. Your skin would bruise under his tight hold, your voice would echo loudly in the room, across the house. And soon enough, his warm praises will turn into dirty ones "So good for me. Such a good slut, taking all of me like that. Such a good slut, doesn't like to use her mind for anything other than thinking about my dick, hmm?" Oh he's so right, he's so right! How are you supposed to focus on your studies when his arms circle around your waist and push you back up, making him delve even deeper in your spongy walls? How are you supposed to focus on your studies when he's making you see stars, when he's making you scream his name like a mantra, when he's making your legs tremble from the intense orgasm? How are you supposed to focus on your studies when he keeps going, not even slowing down, even when you beg him to, not until he's satisfied, not until he paints your inside white, and make drip on your notebooks for you to remember later when he forces you to get back to studying, you want that ring right?

name(s) of love ✩ cl16
Charles Leclerc x Fem! Girlfriend! Reader
fluff • smut(ish) • 1,500 words
IN WHICH... love takes on many forms and many names.
Tumblr media
✩ “MON AMOUR…” in everyday life.
“Can you pass me the salt, mon amour?”
With one hand, the other stirring the sauce, Charles vaguely pointed to the location of the saltshaker, which you hastened to hand over. He murmured a distracted “thank you” and seasoned the meat before turning down the heat and covering the pan with the lid next to it.
You watched in silence as his shoulders tensed with every movement, the muscles of his arms drawn deliciously against his shirt. A strand of hair bounced on his forehead at each movement, wet from the steam of the pots on the hob. A scrunchie, one of yours, was pulling back his hair ⏤ which had been falling in front of his eyes ever since he began his task ⏤ into a ridiculously little ponytail.
After giving the sauce a final stir to let it reduce, Charles wiped his hands on his white “kiss the cook” apron ⏤ a gift you were very proud of.
“I love to watch you cook,” you said as you approached.
You let your hands graze his arms up to his shoulders and placed them on either side of his neck. It was impossible to resist the urge to kiss it. You pecked at every bit of skin, stopping at a few tender spots that your nights with him had revealed.
“Yeah?” he pulled you to him, careful not to bring you too close to the fire, and leaned his head back to give you more room. His hands gently tickled your ribs before moving down and squeezing your ass. He left them there, chastely, happy to receive so much attention.
“Hmm,” you nodded, far too busy loving on him to give him a real answer.
“I think you're far more interested in the food than me, mon amour.”
Oh, you'd devour him over any meal in this world.
✩ “MON COEUR…” when he’s tired.
“Mon coeur, come to bed,” Charles whined.
“One more chapter, honey, and I'm yours.”
Your eyes were beginning to burn, assaulted by the artificial light of the table lamp next to the couch. The dark night had long since darkened the sky. Despite the pain, the letters that ⏤ little by little ⏤ were becoming blurry, the sentences that only made sense if you read them twice, you couldn't bring yourself to close the book. You had started it three days ago, and as the last chapters were drawing nearer and nearer, you couldn't go to sleep without knowing the end of the story, without knowing if the protagonist would survive.
You knew it had been a trying day for Charles, as media day usually was: one interview after another, this time for magazines, and the many videos he had to shoot for various YouTube channels had dealt the final blow to his energy.
“You said that six chapters ago.”
A grimace pulled at your face. You immediately felt terrible, even more so when you saw him, at the entrance to the corridor, wrapped up in the quilt, his eyes reddened by fatigue, his hair in all directions. A painting as touching as heart-breaking. They were overworking him.
“Mon coeur, please,” he tried again.
His shiny green eyes were enough to make you give in. Morning and evening, he rejuvenated before your eyes when, around him, the arms of Morpheus imprisoned him. How could you resist his face?
Gently, you folded the corner of your page before placing the book on the coffee table. You couldn't take three steps before Charles wrapped you in the duvet, holding you tightly against him. Your eyes were blocked by the quilt and by his chest, so you did not see the dark look he gave your book, as if it was responsible for all his misfortunes.
He guided you to the bedroom like this, never letting go of you except to close the door. You could not hide your smile at his cuteness, which he took as mocking.
“Stop making fun of me.”
“I didn't say anything.”
He pushed you down on the bed, watching your body bounce on the mattress before dropping onto you. The weight of his body cut off your breathing for a moment but you said nothing, understanding what Charles was craving.
Contact.
His head nestled against your breasts; his eyelids closed at once. Your skin against his, he could forget the worries of the day. He could suddenly breathe with your heartbeat giving the tempo for his to follow. Your fingers slipping into his hair, smoothing them, anything to soothe him.
There was no sound to disturb this tender moment, except your breathing and perhaps ⏤ sometimes ⏤ the sound of a kiss dropped on his forehead.
You continued until his weight became heavier, a sign that he had fallen asleep.
“Goodnight, honey,” you murmured.
Very quietly, so as not to wake him, you picked up your phone. Immediately lowering the brightness, you clicked on the orange icon on your iPhone and, remembering the little number at the top right of the page, resumed reading your book, having bought it digitally.
As pretty as this boy was, you were not going to sleep without knowing the end.
✩ “MON ANGE…” when he’s sad.
Each sniffle broke your heart a little more, as your neck collected tear after tear. You tightened your grip on Charles's trembling body, trying to protect him from this world and its horrors. Seeing this joyous man who shared your life being tarnished by others drove you into a deep rage, one you kept secret.
It could wait.
The love of your life could not.
“It's going to be okay.”
You weren't sure. How could you control people's actions, their disrespect, and the power that anonymity gave them? Words hurt, even written on a phone screen.
Charles had walked in your Monte-Carlo flat in tears, after what should have been a fun night out with his mates. It had been hard to make out his words, cut off by heart-breaking sobs, but you got the gist of it: by showing a funny tweet about him, one of his friends had unintentionally confronted Charles with the hatred of bitter people who couldn't bear to see others succeed. His appearance, his behaviour, his driving. Everything had been a subject to criticize, but it was the third point that had been the coup de grâce; especially after the disappointing new car testing.
All it had taken was one comment to shatter into a million pieces what you had tried to keep intact.
“Mon ange, I–”
“It's okay,” you repeated, trying to convince him, and maybe you as well. “You don't have to talk if you don't want to.”
So, he didn't. You stood there, hugging in the middle of the living room, a few steps from the door that hid him from all his worries.
“I love you, mon ange,” he finally whispered.
“I love you too, my talented, beautiful, kind boyfriend.”
He managed to give you a shaky smile, which, if it bore the mark of deep sadness, reassured you somewhat. You stood on tiptoe and kissed him gently, as if to affirm your compliments, to anchor them on his mouth so that he, in turn, could believe them, say them.
It would take a little time to piece him back together, but you were nothing if not stubborn.
✩ “BÉBÉ…” when he’s in the mood.
“Bébé?”
Silence.
Charles straightened up a little more, his back against the headboard. He didn't take his eyes off your body, which was facing the opposite way. The moon had long since cast its bluish halo over the bed and was now illuminating your naked curves, which the white sheet did nothing to hide.
“Bébé?”
His fingertips brushed your knee, moved gently up your thighs – his pinkie sliding inwards more than necessary – and up your lower abdomen to your chest. Charles watched with delight as your body shivered at his touch, his heart beating furiously in his chest, temple, and crotch.
“Bébé?”
This time he shook you without delicacy, abruptly waking you from your deep sleep. You didn't like this one bit. Roughly pulling the quilt up to your neck, you buried yourself in it, ignoring the complaints of the man beside you. The masterpiece that was your body, now stolen from his dilated eyes.
Unacceptable, he thought.
His hand came to rest on your waist, squeezing it.
“What?” you asked aggressively, ready to sleep after an already eventful night. This man had far too much stamina for you. The still regular shaking of your legs was proof of that.
“I'm horny,” he whined.
“You're a fucking animal, Leclerc. That’s what you are.”
Your words may have had bite, but your thighs were already spreading for him to fit between them. Damn him and his stupidly beautiful, flushed face, and pouted lips.
Fucker.

unrequited love | pt 4
notes: i missed this series sm,, hope you all enjoy :) the next part will be up soon, picking up straight after this chapter (wink wink).
words: 2.8k
warnings: 18+, stepmom!wanda, stepdaughter!reader, jealousy, angst and fluff, slight smut at the beginning of the chapter.
Tumblr media
"have i mentioned how good you look in this pretty dress, detka?" your stepmother husked out at the shell of your ear, as her needy hands roamed your body, her movements possessive as she eventually settled on your hips. "i am so glad i got it for you"
you entrapped your bottom lip between your teeth, your head falling backwards against the wall that wanda was currently pinning you up against. you almost let out a groan as her lips shifted from your ear to the soft skin of your neck, her tongue swirling against it before taking some between full-red lips and sucking slightly.
"i believe you've mentioned it once or twice," you replied, a breathy laugh falling from your mouth. "but thank you, for the dress and the compliment"
wanda continued to suck and kiss at your neck, her tendencies wanton and desperate as she attempted to use up what little free time you had together to finally get her delicate hands on you.
"what are your plans for the day?" wanda asked, her lips shifting from your neck to place a kiss on your cheek. "i was wondering if you wanted to watch a movie with me?"
heat flushed at your face at the endearing action and you resisted the thought of hiding yourself in the crook of wanda's neck out of sheer embarrassment. "apart from studying for an hour or so, i guess I'd be all yours.. what movie did you have in mind?"
wanda grinned, the innuendo and the fact that she would finally get to spend quality time with you made butterflies fly wild in the pit of her stomach. “well that barbie movie you’ve been talking about released today, how about we watch that?”
you smiled brightly, nodding your head in response. before you could utter a word, you heard a muffled call of your name from the kitchen. rolling your eyes at the interruption from your father, you moved slightly to shuffle from wanda's hold.
"let him wait a second," wanda whispered, her hot breath hitting the flushed skin of your cheek as she returned to her previous exploit against your neck. the knots in your stomach tightened as you felt one of wanda's hands slip from your waist to move under the hem of your dress, slender fingers trailing gently up the inside of your thigh causing you to throb scarcely at the touch. "i've missed touching you, detka.. the way you feel under me, the way your tight cunt wraps around my fingers, how you beg for your momm-"
"coming dad!" you call out, quickly pushing wanda's wandering hand from under your dress and moving away from the close proximity of your stepmother's grasp. "god you're cruel," you groan, fixing the ruffles of the skirt. "i'm gonna go help dad, meet a few friends and i'll see you later after i study, okay?"
you lean forward, placing a kiss on wanda's now pouted lips and you can't help but giggle at her glum reaction. wanda sighs dramatically causing you to giggle once more before she mimics your actions and reciprocates another kiss, although this one lingers and you hum at the taste of her red lipstick.
"have a good day at work mama"
ᗢ
as you stared down at the pages of your notebook, pen in hand, you could feel the words you had written previously start to scramble in your mind, as though the letters were singlehandedly moving themselves around on your paper. instantly, you knew to place your pen on your desk and close your notebook; so that's what you did, your hands moving to rub slightly at your weary eyes.
you glanced at the clock to your left, a plain black and white timepiece that wanda had purchased for you not so long ago. you were one to always let time pass you by, your mind seemingly blind to the hours as they slipped away from you. wanda, in all her caring and perceptive nature, noticed this immediately once your relationship started to flourish. thus resulting in the heartwarming reminder that hung on your wall.
thankfully you finished studying in time as you realised your stepmother would soon finish work and finally, your quality time together would begin. it was something that was quite rare in your day-to-day lives, whether it be your busy schedule, wanda's or both, you unfortunately didn't spend enough time together as you both hoped to.
so as you giggled excitedly to yourself, you walked away from your work desk and headed over to your closet, humming as you reached to pick out an outfit that would be in perfect comparison to the movie you were about to see, and also something you know that would drive wanda absolutley insane.
it didn't take long before you were ready, wanda's voice in the back of your mind rang through as you reminded yourself that you were on a time schedule. so, as you finished the final touches of your makeup, you moved to stand in front of the tall mirror in the corner of your room to get a good look of yourself.
you smiled meekly at your appearance, your eyes trailing over the cowl neck butterfly and floral midi dress and the black boots that you had paired with it. you had to admit, you did look easy on the eyes. the dress accented your chest perfectly and the slit in the bottom of the hem gave just enough view of the skin of your thigh to be modest yet playful.
wanda was going to love this.
just as you stepped over to your desk to check your phone, a text notification came through and you breathed deeply through your nose; your heart rate spiked scarcely as you felt the pit in your stomach swarm with nerves.
mama: hi darling girl, i've just stopped for gas. are you ready?
you smiled brightly at the nickname, the nerves in your stomach increasing ten-fold as you could practically hear wanda's raspy voice purr those words into the shell of your ear. shaking your head, you ignored that all-too-familiar dull ache between your legs and began typing back a response.
you: hi mommy, i'm ready! miss you so much, see you soon :)
you turned towards your bed and reached to grab your charming pink clutch bag that seemingly completed the outfit like a glove. you double-checked you had everything you needed before slipping your phone inside and heading downstairs to await the return of wanda.
ᗢ
staring back at your reflection you smiled widely as you held up your phone in front of the restroom mirror. wanda kissed your cheek from behind you before slipping her arms around your waist and mimicking your smile. after hearing the shutter click from your camera go off, wanda squeezed at your hips gently before moving away.
"i like that, we look good malysh" wanda commented, observing the picture on your phone from over your shoulder. "i wish we could upload it but i guess having them for safekeeping will have to do for now.. will you send it to me?"
"of course mama," you mumbled back a reply, your fingers swiping through the preset filters until you happened upon one that you liked. "i wish we could upload it too, i want everyone to see how dashing you look in your pink in your suit"
the colour of wanda's suit jacket practically melted onto her skin as the redhead's cheeks flushed a hot pink at your words.
"oh shush, detka. look at yourself, you look absolutely ravish-"
your head turned in confusion, eager to know why wanda had suddenly cut off her own sentence. the mystery didn't last long as your eyes quickly averted to her phone and you immediately recognised a picture of you and kate from before your relationship took a turn with wanda.
the sokovians nostrils flared as she gazed back at a picture of you two kissing, her eyes glancing down at the caption that read 'missing my beaut right now, long distance is hard but you're more than worth it!'
"y/n.. what the fuck is this?" wanda gritted out as she tore her attention away from her phone to gape back at you. her pupils soon grew dark, what was once a beautiful striking sea of green was now quickly fading into black as rage brewed in wanda like a mad storm. "why is she posting pictures of you? was this- is this why you were too busy last friday? were you fucking her?"
your eyebrows shot up as your eyes widened in fear, your mouth turning dry as the accusation of wanda's words settled on your chest like bricks. "what? b-baby no! of course not. can we-" your eyes scanned around the restroom, your ears pricking up at any sound of possible eavesdroppers from inside the stalls. "can we please talk about this at home? not here, wands.. please"
the redhead's deadset stare continued to gaze into you, her stance not faltering even the slightest bit.
you directly stepped forward, and the hand that wasn't holding your now locked phone moved to cup one of wanda's cheeks. the heat of wanda's skin radiated against the palm of your hand and you didn't miss the way your stepmother nuzzled just slightly into your hold.
"mommy please," you whispered, stepping closer until you felt the material of wanda's pants suit rest against the soft skin of your thigh that peeked out through your slitted hem. "i promise you i have no idea why she posted that, it's an old picture.. plus i ended things with her, remember?"
the sokovian sighed heavily, her rigid posture relaxing as she recalled the conversation you had a few months ago regarding your relationship with kate and although you hated the fact that wanda was still a married woman, you understood the severity of her situation compared to yours.
"you're right detka, i'm sorry i-" wanda reached an arm around your waist, her slender fingers running up and down the small of your back. "-i didn't mean what i said. let's go get takeout and we can speak about this at home, yeah?"
you nodded meekly, the weight of your chest growing lighter by the second as you watched the redhead return to her usual state.
as you both left the theatres, your hand itched at your side as you felt the all too familiar urge to hold wanda's. it was something that nagged at you every time you were both out in public, the feeling never fading the more time passed and you knew wanda shared the same sentiment.
when you both pulled into the driveway, takeout in hand, you watched as wanda stepped out of the door of the drivers’ seat and swiftly made her way around the front of the car. your stepmother pulled open your door, reaching a hand out for you to take which you happily obliged to, a smile displaying itself on your lips at the endearing action.
entering the house you instantly smelled the cherry blossom scent that flowed through the house, courtesy of a candle you had previously lit while you were waiting for wanda's return mere hours earlier. clearly, it was money well spent on your end as the fragrance remained potent.
your home sojourned peacefully with only a quiet whistle of wind that came through the kitchen window, the sound growing more audible as you made your way through the swinging door to place the takeout bag on the kitchen counter.
"detka?" wanda's muffled voice called out from the other room, the click of her heels moving with vigour as she stepped through the door of the kitchen. "i really am sorry about what i said, it was stupid of me to become so jealous so quickly"
you sighed, the headache from earlier starting to display its aching annoyance in your already sensitive temples. as you rummaged through the takeout bag, your hand deftly separating yours and wanda's food, your mind jumped back to the prior conversation you had with kate. a conversation that was pivotal and much awaited.
"wait.. i don't understand? what are you saying?"
your head hung in shame as you sat opposite your soon-to-be ex-girlfriend.
"i know it's a lot and may seem sudden but i've been feeling this way for a long time and i just- it's not fair on you nor myself. you deserve better than that kate, you deserve-"
"y/n just fucking spit it out! instead of beating around the bush like you always do, why not just say what you mean?"
your bottom lip started to tremble as you felt your eyes burning, the familiar tightening in your throat as unwelcome tears threatened to spill at her tone. "i'm sorry, i-" you cleared your throat, hoping the wavering in your voice would remain undetected. "we can't be together anymore"
"oh"
just that one simple word had you knowing that kate would never speak to you again, would never forgive you for this, and you didn't blame her. if the shoe was on the other foot, who knows? you'd probably think the same way.
"y/n?"
your head turned to your right, your eyes settling on your concerned stepmother. her eyebrows furrowed as she stepped closer, a warm hand resting itself gently on your forearm.
"sorry wands, i was just-" sighing once more, you took a step back, the action causing the redhead's hand to fall to her hip; you instantly read the hurt that flashed across her face. "kate said something a few months back.. that i don't say what i'm truthfully thinking and it really resonated with me"
wanda quirked an eyebrow at that, curiosity and apprehension resting their heavy weight on her chest like a bolder. "oh.. well i always want you to be honest with me, malysh"
breathing deeply through your nose, you redied yourself for the two possible outcomes for how your relationship with wanda could go after this nerve-wracking conversation.
"i love you"
the redhead's eyebrows shot up as the feeling in her chest faded away at the unsuspecting words.
"i love you and i would never in a million years want to hurt you or betray your trust. i don't know why kate did what she did, okay? maybe she was drunk or high when she did it? i don't know! but if you want us to work wanda, you have to trust me"
"i- you love me?" wanda muttered the question, her mind swirling with endearment as she stepped closer to you, her now taut throat struggling to swallow the hard pill of regret for her dubiety towards you. "detka i- i love you too, and i am so, so sorry for letting jealousy cloud my judgment. i guess i'm just too afraid to lose you, your father is a good man but.. you're the best thing that's happened to me in a long time"
you felt your heart contract at wanda's words, the beat of it skipping slightly before switching to a racing pace that had your head spinning. all you could think to do was practically throw yourself at the redhead; your arms immediately wrapping around her suited torso as you nuzzled your head against her chest.
wanda sighed at the contact, all of her anxiety and tension completely melting away as she settled against your touch. she let one hand rest against the back of your head and the other against the small of your back, her delicate fingers stroking softly against the material of your dress.
"does this mean you forgive me?" wanda husked out, a hint of a timorous tone in her voice as she broached the question.
you moved your head away slightly from the comfort of her chest to tilt your head up scarcely. you reached up on your tiptoes ever so slightly to place a kiss against the flushed skin of her cheek, "of course it does, you doofus!"
a smile itched at wanda's lips, her mind swirling with gratuity and adoration as she stared down at you. "i'm glad.. because i really don't like it when you're mad at me"
a chuckle escaped your lips, your hot breath hitting the sharp line of wanda's jaw. "you're just a big ol' softie, aren't you?"
you heard wanda gasp dramatically above you, causing you to chuckle once again. "hey, less of the old! i'm only thirty-two"
"fine, you're just a big softie" you giggled as you stepped back from the warmth of wanda's hold, "can we save the takeout for later? i'm not so hungry anymore. maybe we could have a few glasses of wine and play a board game or something?"
a grin displayed against wanda's plump red lips and you noticed her eyes darken slightly as the wheels turned in her mind.
"how about we save drinks and games for when we finish eating? i have something better in mind.."

Heat Kissed
Eris x Reader
Tumblr media
Just a short fluffy moment
No warnings I think :)
The only sound in your spacious bedroom was the occasional turn of pages from the book in your hand.
You had just taken a shower and put your hair in a towel to dry for a bit before picking up your latest book. You hadn't read this one before. You had read most of the books in the Autumn Court library since marrying Eris.
Eris had seen your love of books and immediately taken you to the library where you read all day, curled up in a large armchair while Eris was working on reports at the desk.
That used to be how you spent your days but lately, Eris has had to have meetings almost all day about how he would reign. Beron's mysterious death had left a large gap and many people questioned how Eris would rule. Would he be cruel and heartless like Beron?
The answer was clearly no.
He had shown you that side of him years ago before you married him. He had bought you flowers, books, little trinkets, or anything that caught your eye. Not because he felt obligated to, no, he wanted to. Eris wanted to shower you with gifts to show he loved and appreciated you in ways he could not express in words, thanks to the lack of affection from Beron.
But the people didn't know that. So he showed them. He invested into helping poor families or people affected by the war. He invested more money into food sources and orphanages.
He showed his people true concern, something that most of them had never seen by a leader.
He was waiting before he declared you his High Lady. Most of the males still had outdated views on females. Eris, not wanting to expose you to that, told you he would, but not until he didn't have to worry about you being hurt.
You squealed as you continued to read about the main character who had just gotten gravely injured. You continued to read furiously as villain saw and chased the guy--
Suddenly, the door to the bedroom burst open as Eris stormed into the room. He didn't say a word to you as he walked to the bathroom and gently shut the door behind him.
It wasn't anything personal. He made sure you knew that. Some of his advisors were similar to his father and it made him furious. So, instead of him taking his anger out on you, he would go in the bathroom and come out when he was cooled off.
He had to watch as his father abused his mother mentally, and physically and made sure that he didn't accidently yell at you.
You knew he would come out when he was ready so you continued reading.
Tumblr media
A couple chapters later, Eris emerged, having changed into a set of comfortable pants and holding a brush in his hand.
Not saying a word, he went over and sat on the wide couch, tucked next to the window. Shrugging off the covers, you went over and curled up in his lap with your book, as usual.
Eris gently took the towel from your head and using a brush to gently comb your hair.
Every night you both would sit on that couch and you would read, sometimes aloud, while Eris did your hair. Or, when a meeting was particularly bad, he would do your hair while ranting to you.
You had a feeling tonight was one of those nights, considering his body was giving off a larger than normal amount of heat.
Instead of pushing him, you gently set your book down on the table and waited for him to start talking.
He started to take a few strands and wrap them around his finger before channeling a bit of heat to dry them into perfect curls.
Eris did this several more times until he finally let out a heavy sigh before saying, "Honestly I should get rid of some of them."
"What'd they do this time," you asked softly.
"So lately I've been changing laws to where females have rights and aren't fucking used as property? Well some of the older advisors are being a more than usual pain in the ass," Eris said fuming.
You knew that wasn't the full story. They were always pains in the ass but it must be worse than usual since Eris was cussing and radiating a large amount of heat, to the point where you had started to sweat.
Pressing your lips together you asked, "Was that it or were they being worse than usual?"
Eris' hands paused in your hair and he went silent for a few seconds. "It's nothing they were just making some unnecessary comments," he said sharply.
Making comments about you is what that meant.
You raised an eyebrow at him. It was nothing new.
The advisors had made their distaste about you clear from the moment they heard you were sharing Eris' bed. Of course they would be. You took their chance of them trying to marry off their daughters to the High Lord.
"Well that's nothing new. They always talk shit and you know that," you said gently.
Eris huffed a breath before saying, "You're acting like that makes it better. They talk shit about my fucking mate right in front of me. They act like you don't deserve me even though I'm the one that's not worthy."
You turned your head around slowly to face him fully. "Eris fucking Vanserra. You better listen to me. Next time you lie to me I will smack the shit out of you."
"Oh darling," he purred, "I don't think you remember where that gets you. Usually I'm the one smacking you."
Your eyes went wide before quickly turning back around.
You could feel him chuckle through your back.
You felt his hands gently begin stroke your wet hair again before continuing to pick strands out and curl them around his fingers.
His fingers moved in a steady rhythm as his heat, which was blazing earlier, lessened to a warm comforting blanket over you both.
Several minutes later after he was finished, you stood up and went to go get ready for bed after a forehead kiss from Eris.
After you finished, you grabbed the book on the nightstand and crawled back into bed beside Eris.
He immediately shifted his head onto his lap as you propped the book up and started to read aloud, absentmindedly stroking his hair.
There was something about these moments that you just loved. Maybe it was Eris. Maybe it was just spending time with him. Maybe you just wanted him to keep you from freezing to death.
Probably all three.
But it was probably him trusting you enough to be vulnerable with you. For him to lay in your lap and fall asleep was an amount of trust he had for no one else.
Noticing he was asleep, you set the book down before turning extinguishing the candle by your bed.
You gently untangled Eris' limbs from yours as you attempted to get into a more comfortable position.
Bitch, you thought.
If you laid down you'd fall off the side of the bed.
Fine. If he wanted to get on your side you'd just get up and go to his side.
Cursing softly, you attempted to rise without waking him. You felt an arm wrap around your waist and pull you back. Eris flipped you over him so you were laying on his side.
"Where you going?" Eris asked, voice husky with sleep as his nose prodded your skin above your ear.
"You took my side so I was going to take yours," you responded, smiling softly.
He sighed, protesting, "You could have just woke me up."
Humming in response, you closed your eyes.
The last thing you could feel was Eris' smile against your head before kissing you and saying, "Goodnight Little Fox."

Cracked Clay Cup Chapter 2
For @greatbigolhampuckjustforme
“How is this organized, anyway?” asked Daniel.  “It isn't alphabetical.”
Clockwork shuddered.  “The debate about which alphabet to use would be interminable.  No.  The list is arranged from eldest to youngest, with groups being averaged.”
“So, the oldest person is on top and the youngest person is on the bottom.”
“That is correct.”
Daniel hummed and wiped up the last of his syrup up off his plate with the last piece of his pancake.  “This Jasmine person is the youngest person who wants me.  Ick, that sounded wrong somehow.”
“She is the youngest person,” said Clockwork.  He was doing something strange with the plates in the sink.
“Is she, like, really into plants or flowers or something?”
“Are you really into Daniels?”
“I mean.  I don’t know.  My memory’s been erased and all.  For all I know, my name isn’t even Daniel.  It could be William.  Or David.”  Still, he got the point.  He shook his head.  “Ghosts just picking random names.  What is the world coming to?”
“You could always choose to go by another name,” said Clockwork, mildly.  “You are not trapped in it.”
“I know,” said Daniel.  “I’ll keep it for now, though.  Is, um, is the…”
“Her section of the file is colored teal.”
“Thanks,” said Daniel.  He flipped through.  “These aren’t in the same order, you know.”
“I know,” said Clockwork.  He sounded very put upon.
“You’re not the one who does the organizing, huh?”
“If only I were.”
Daniel looked over the teal pages.  There wasn’t a lot of information on them.  The name, Jasmine, her height, hair color, eye color, a few lines about interests.
“Not a lot here.”
“You are meant to form your own opinions,” said Clockwork.
“Enjoys pushing forward the boundaries of knowledge?” he read from the page.  “Interested in modern psychology and brain surgery?”  He looked up at Clockwork.  “This sounds like mad scientist material.”
“You can always skip her, if you feel uncomfortable.”
“No, if I’m going to do this, I’m going to be fair.  So, uh, let’s go.  Let’s do this.”
“In your pajamas?”
“Well, it’s not like I have anything else, do I?”
“In fact, you do.  There is a closet in your room upstairs.”
“With clothes that are mine?”
“With clothes in a variety of styles in your size.  They are all new, acquired for this process, although you can keep them afterward.”
“So, no way to figure out my style except for experimentation.  Cool.  Great.  Another mystery to solve.”
“Think of it as an interesting puzzle.  An amusing way to pass the time, whilst you are experiencing the various persons who wish to gain custody of you.”
“Uh huh,” said Daniel, pushing his chair out.  “I’m going to go get changed.  Do I need to pack a bag, too, or what?”
“What, in this case.  Any clothing and toiletries you need will be sent to you.”
Daniel nodded and climbed back up the stairs to ‘his’ room.  There was a closet there that he hadn’t noticed before, across from the bathroom.  He opened the door and started to shift through the different outfits.
That one was too complicated… ugh, weird texture… too much body exposure… ooh, gothic… but also complicated… nice skirt… robe… kilt?  He prodded at the maybe-kilt a little.  He wasn’t sure that it was a kilt.  Well, whatever.  Jeans.  T-shirt.  Hm.  Tempting, if only for its simplicity.  But maybe he wanted something that vibed with his tail a bit better.  Ooh, Egyptian.
Eventually, he hit on a combination of loose pants, long shirt, and fringed wrap.  Yeah.  That would look good.  Comfortable.  He took off his pajamas and fluffed his tail.  That did feel good.  He put on the pants, then the shirt, and then discovered he did not have great skills with wraps.  So.  He probably didn’t wear them on a daily basis.  Still, with the help of the bathroom mirror, he managed to get it into a more or less presentable arrangement.  He thought he looked good, anyway, and that was all that mattered.  After all, if they already were getting into fights over custody of him, he didn’t exactly have to dress to impress.
He went back down the stairs, to where Clockwork was waiting, staff in hand.  “Okay, I’m ready.  How do I look?”
“Dressed,” said Clockwork.
“Helpful,” said Daniel.
“I am to please.”
“So… How do we get there?”
“Through this,” said Clockwork.  He held up the staff, and a portal spun off the clock at its top.  Then, he held out a small pocketwatch.  “When you want to return, merely click the button on top.”
“Okay,” said Daniel, taking it and looping it's chain around his neck.  “And… I just go through?  No other tricks?”
“No other tricks.  It is the journey of a single step.”
“Right,” said Daniel.  He took a deep breath and stepped forward.
The transition between places really was smooth.  One minute, he was in Clockwork's purple kitchen, the next, he was in what looked like a completely normal entryway.
There was a girl there.  She looked human, and was about half a foot taller than he was.  Her hair was red and her cardigan was the same teal as her paper in the file.  Her eyes, too, were blue.  She… really didn’t look like a ghost at all.  She didn’t particularly look like him, either, except for her skin color.  Unless maybe some of her facial features were similar?  Nose shape, perhaps?  He didn’t really remember what he looked like well enough to say.
But, definitely, what stood out the most about her was the fact that she was a girl.  A teenager.  Not a woman, not really.  She couldn’t be more than a few years older than he was.
“Danny,” she said, jumping out of the chair and starting to smile at him. “Hi, I’m–”  She stopped.
The girl stared.  Daniel stared back.
“Danny, what are you wearing?” she asked.
“Clothing,” he said.  He didn’t think this kind of outfit had any particular name.  At least, if it did, he didn’t know it.
“Oh.”
“And… you’re…”
“Oh!  I’m Jazz!  You… really don’t remember me?”
Daniel shook his head, slowly.
“Well… They did tell me that would happen…”
“I knew you before?”
“Yes!  Yes.  I… was your mother.  Am your mother!”
“Uh,” said Daniel.  “You’re, like, seventeen.  Eighteen, maximum.”
“Time travel was involved.”
“Time travel.”
“Time travel.  You know how things are in the ghost zone.  You get a natural portal, and then, boom!  You’re fifteen years in the past, or the future!”  She laughed, nervously.  “But I’m here, now!  This version of me.  Who is definitely your mother.”
Daniel realized, then, that just because the memory wipe meant that he couldn’t know what his prior connections were, that didn’t mean that other people couldn’t try to capitalize on them.  Or lie about them.  Or lie about them badly.
“Time travel,” said Daniel, again.
“I mean, you’re staying with Clockwork, right?”
“Uh, yeah, so?”
“So, he’s sort of a major player in the time travel scene, right?”
“He is?”  It’d explain the clock theme, at least.
“He is.”
“Oh.  Cool.”  He still didn’t believe her time travel story, though.  “So, like.  If you were time traveling, who raised me?”
“Your, uh, grandparents.  But they can’t really, uh, do it, anymore.  For reasons.  And I’m back!  In the proper time!   So I want to take care of you now.  And this will start our bonding bonanza!  We can start with a tour of the house!”
What.  She did not just say that.
“Are they the ones who’re disputing your custody?  Because it is a dispute, right?  That’s what this thing is all about.”
“I mean, um, there are seven groups, right?  Counting me?  So, no, it’s not because of them.”
“Right,” said Daniel.  That didn’t rule them out, though.  Maybe they were the ones at the top of the list.
“So, obviously, this is the entryway… At least, you know, when there’s a door.”
Daniel looked behind him.  There was, indeed, no door.  “What?”
“Something about the rules to these things.  We’re not supposed to leave for the duration.”
“What about food?”
“It’s brought in, the same way you were.  So, over here is the kitchen.”
The kitchen was a long, galley affair, with tile countertops and cute floral backsplashes.  It was much more normal than Clockwork’s, at least in terms of colors.  There was a fridge, a microwave, a toaster, and a dishwasher.
“Do you know who the other six groups are?”
“I mean… I have a guess about some of them, but I don’t really know.  I’d thought Clockwork would be one of them for sure, but…”
“What, really?”  That, at least, didn’t seem like a lie.  “But he’s the neutral party?”
“Yes,” said Jazz.  “But I thought that the two of you were close.  But maybe it was more along the lines of being, I don’t know, work friends.”
“Huh,” said Daniel.  “I… Okay.”
“Yes.  Okay.  So, the fridge is completely safe, no biological or ectobiological samples stored in it.  Just food.  Normal, edible food.  We’ll do the dishes together, of course.  Cups are in here, dishes, pots and pans–”
“Your profile said you were interested in brain surgery,” said Daniel.
“Oh, yes, that’s one of the things I’m thinking about studying in college!  Once I get into college.  Which will be soon.”
“So, you don’t have, like, a mad science lab in here where you do brain surgery or something like that?”
The girl stared at him.  “Are… you sure you don’t remember anything?”
This was not a promising question.  “Yeah, why?”
“Because you’re assuming that I have a mad science lab in here.  I’m  a high school senior.”
“Which means it’s weird that you’re here with a house at all.”
She made a face.  “It’s… I had some help getting it.  The house, I mean.  But there’s no mad science lab.  There will never be a mad science lab.  Unless you want a mad science lab.  I could probably make some calls.”
“I don’t want a mad science lab.  Why would I want a mad science lab?”
“I don’t know, to tinker in?  You used to do some, um, tinkering.  Mechanical engineering stuff.”
“That’s more of a garage thing, though, isn’t it?”
“I… don’t know.  You only ever did it in the lab.”
“So, we used to have a mad science lab.”
“That’s– I mean–  No.”
Definitely a lie.  They totally had a lab.  Or, at least, Jazz used to have a lab.  What was going on that they had a lab?  Something sinister, doubtlessly.
“Did you dissect brains in this lab?”
“No!  Like I said, I’m only a student.  A student that is interested in a lot of things, but right now, my thesis is about Ghost Envy.”
“You’re a high school student with a thesis?”
“I’m a high achiever.  Have to make up for all that time lost time traveling.  You’d think you’d gain time!  But.  Yeah.”  She smiled tightly and nodded.  “Living room next!  We have a, er, one of those consoles.  For video games.  I got it from a friend.”
Daniel let Jazz drag him around the house.  It was kind of nice, except for how nervous she got whenever he probed about his past or her supposed time travel.  He didn’t really feel threatened by her, per se, but the lying… it definitely gave him a bit of, how should he put this, anxiety.
“And here’s your bedroom, Danny!”
The bedroom was actually really cool.  Unlike the rest of the rooms, it had a very clear, very obvious theme beyond just house people can live in.  The theme was space.  The walls and ceiling were painted with constellations.  There were model rockets on shelves.  The desk had an astrolabe and a small model solar system on it, alongside astronomy books.  There were also some novels, composition notebooks and sketchbooks, alongside a variety of markers, but those were tiny points about the overwhelming amount of space.  Even the decorative throw cushions on the bed had galaxy patterns on them!
Danny… he really liked it.  He guessed he had to admit that, at least, Jazz had known him before, and had known him reasonably well.  Even if she wasn’t his mother.
She’d also turned around to play with a deadbolt on the door.
“It locks from the inside, because, well, I figured you’d be a bit nervous, staying with someone you know nothing about, and a lock might make you feel safer.”
She wasn’t wrong about that.  “Hey, speaking of safety, you’re still, like, alive?  Human?”
“Yes?” said Jazz.
“Isn’t it a bit weird, trying to get custody of a ghost?”
“Oh, um, I suppose it’s a bit unusual, but you’re my b– My son.  Definitely my son.  So, it’s worth it.  It doesn’t matter to me if you’re a ghost or a human or– Wait, Clockwork told you, right?”
“Told me… what?”
“That you’re not, you know, a normal ghost.”
“I… he might have said something about that.  About being an unusual kind of ghost.”
“So he didn’t tell you that you’re only half ghost?”
“That’s not a thing.”
“It’s a thing.  You can change back and forth between a human - more human - form, and a ghost form.  Like this.”  She gestured at him.
Danny stared at her.  “That’s not a thing.”
“It is!  Oh, jeez, I can’t believe Clockwork left it to me to explain.”  She crossed her arms and turned away.  “I don’t know how to explain this.”
“Wait, does that mean my dad is a ghost in this story?  Are you saying that you, as a human, and a ghost–”
“No.  You died.  That sounds terrible.  I mean, you, um.  You sort of died.”
“How did I die that I managed to die only halfway?”
Jazz opened and closed her mouth several times.  “I didn’t witness it–”
“But you know.”
“It was– Do you really want to know?  I mean, regardless, I’m still your– your mom.  And I want to be.  And that kind of thing is really traumatic.”
“What was it?”
She looked like she didn’t want to answer.  Danny poured all his effort into a forceful, expectant stare.
“It… was a lab accident.”
Silence.
“Like, um.  A ghost lab.”
More silence.
“Okay,” said Danny.  He bit his lower lip.  “Right.”
“I’ll just leave now,” said Jazz.  “Make yourself at home.  Because it is!”  She stepped out.
“Yep,” said Danny.  He closed the door and slid home the deadbolt.  Then he put his hand around the pocketwatch, lightly touching the button on top.  “Okay.  I’ll be okay.  I can always leave if she tries to examine my brain, and… I should give her a fair chance.  Right.”

Chapter Index
Tumblr media
Throughout the rest of Negan's stay, you both became rather close. You gave him a proper tour of the small town you now called home and showed him all your favorite spots. He took you out on a few dates behind your dad's back, you both enjoying your time together. He loved to treat you after fucking your brains out, having you walk around without any panties so he could pull you into a dark corner and fuck you against the wall. He devoured every part of you that he could, it was like he wanted to memorize your body for when he would have to go back home. You had zero unrealistic expectations about your relationship, you were both just there for a good time until Negan had to fly back to Washington. He might not choose to take the job and you were not planning on getting tied down when you just started college anyway. But although you two were on the same page, it looked like some others did not get the memo.
Daryl shared what he saw the night of your birthday with Rick and Shane. Shane was just mad that someone got to you first, but Rick and Daryl were furious. How dare some dumb shit come in and fuck you when they couldn't? And then they had to see Negan parade you around like he just won himself the prized pony at the town fair. You were too innocent, too good for a man like Negan. Sure, they didn't know a thing about him, but they were more than certain they could treat you a million times better than he ever could. So they attempted to hatch various little schemes to make Negan look bad. However, none of them made it past the drawing board. The saying, 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend,' did not apply at all to them. They would end up bickering amongst themselves and not a single plan came to fruition.
Any semblance of a truce between the three of them broke one fateful night.
Your dad was out drinking with some coworkers and you were at home, working on schoolwork. Suddenly, you heard the doorbell ring. Cautiously, you crept down the stairs and looked through the peep hole to find out who it was. It was Rick, bloodshot eyes and messed up hair. You quickly unlocked and opened the door, worried about his mental state.
"Hey is everything ok," you questioned, eyebrows furrowed in concern.
His head shot up at the sound of your voice, clearly not expecting you to be the one to answer the door.
He didn't say anything which made you uneasy, so you lied about the whereabouts of your dad, "Were you looking for my dad? I can call him if you'd like."
He just stood there, looking at you. Honestly, it freaked you out, murder and rape statistics where the culprit is someone you know flashed through your head as you began to slowly backtrack on your words.
"How about you give me a second and I get my dad. He's upstairs, but it'll only take a second-," you began but Rick suddenly collapsed to his knees.
"Jesus! Rick, what's wrong," you cry out, running to his side.
His hands shoot out, pulling you into a rough kiss. Your body stills in shock, before struggling and pushing him away.
‘HEY," you yell, before softening your voice, "You are not in your right mind right now. Either you calm down and speak, or you leave."
Rick's bloodshot eyes began to tear up and you never thought you would see the day the man would be so vulnerable like this.
"Lori's takin' the kids," he shakily breathed out.
"Oh fuck," you gasped, "Oh god, Rick, I'm so sorry."
He buried his face into his hands and began to sob. Wrapping your arms around him, you pulled him into the house and led him to a couch. You sat down next to him, pulling a blanket over his shoulders as the poor man broke down. You just held him, allowing him to cry out all his frustrations onto your shoulder.
After a while, his cries slowed to a stop and he pulled away. You offered him some napkins to wipe his face and he did so.
You both sat in silence for a bit before you broke it, "Do you want to talk about it?"
"Not much to talk about," his voice was rough, guarded, as if he was disappointed in himself for letting you see him like this.
"Is there anything you would like me to do," you asked, your voice kind and gentle, and completely undeserving of the storm running through his head.
"Can I kiss ya," he asked.
"Rick...," you said hesitantly, "You didn't want anything to do with me before and I'm worried that you'll regret it if you do something now. I don't want to take advantage of what you're feeling right now.“
He leaned close to you, eyes pleading, "I swear 'm not gonna regret it. I need ya, darlin'. Please."
He leaned in and pressed his swollen lips to yours. You didn't kiss back but after a moment of him running his fingers into your hair, mumbling words of praise and desire, you gave in.
"As long as you are sure," you said between his kisses.
"'m sure, 'm so sure. Wanted ya for so long, darlin'. Ya got no idea, how hard its been," he groaned out.
"Woah, there cowboy, I got a bedroom y'know," you gave a small smile, pulling Rick up and walking him up to your room.
As soon as the door was closed, he was on you like an animal. Desperate kisses placed against your neck and hands wandering all over your body. You moaned in response, your own hands tugging at the buttons on his shirt. Prying your clothes off each other, you take a moment to appreciate the handsome man on top of you. He pressed himself into your neck growling at the sight of Negan's marks littering your body. He begins to suck and bite over them, as if he was trying to cover up any evidence that Negan had you. Your naked bodies tumbled onto the bed, hands groping and pulling at each others' flesh. Rick lifted your hips, moving down your body, placing kisses as he went.
You offered to take care of him instead, but he looked up at you with his big eyes and pleaded to let him do this. With a nod of confirmation, he dug his face into you, eating you out like a man starved. Low groans of appreciation left his lips, his eyes closing in bliss as he licked a long stripe up your lips. He began to suckle on your clit, causing you to flail at the pleasure. You panted and moaned loudly, Rick having to force your hips down lest you accidently kick him. You reached your peak quickly, waves of pleasure crashing over you but Rick turned it into a tsunami as he continued to finger your slick folds and circle your clit with his mouth.
"Rick, 's too much," you moaned out at the overstimulation, trying to push him away.
He looked like a man possessed, like not a single word you were saying was getting through to him. As you tried to move away, his grip on your hips tightened, leaving marks as he just tugged you ever closer to his face. He kept mumbling incoherent words, you only picking up, "so pretty," "all mine," and, "waited so long." The desperate, sinful phrases he uttered sent vibrations through you, reaching another crescendo as you came again.
"Rick," you cried out in a long-drawn out moan, "Please."
The man blinks, looking like he fell out of a trance. He pulls away, allowing you to slump down in relief.
"'m sorry, darlin'," he said, wiping the glisten off of his face, "You just tasted so good."
"It's okay," you panted, still trying to catch your breath.
Rick takes that as his cue to continue, and he surges forward, spreading your legs and rubbing the tip of his cock between your folds.
"Wai- oh," you moan out as Rick plunges into you with one hard thrust.
He's girthy, stretching you out despite all of the wetness on you. It takes your breath away, but feels amazing and you cling onto his shoulders, pulling him close.
Without hesitation, Rick begins to move, thrusting in and out of you at a harsh pace. Once again, he acts like a man possessed, violently humping you. He bites and sucks on your breasts, pinching and pulling on your nipples. He switches from thrusting to giving shallow thrusts while grinding against your clit. It's like he is trying to be as deep inside of you as he can. He halts his assault on your breasts, and wraps his arms around you, pulling you as close as possible.
In return, you wraps your legs around his hips, helping him reach deeper inside of you. You both moan out sweet nothings, words of empty affection and desire. Eventually, Rick grunts, pushing in deep and stilling, as white hot ribbons pulse out and line your walls.
As soon as he feels that every drop is in you, he slowly pulls out before quickly plugging you up with his fingers, causing you to cry out. He moves his head back down again, lapping at you while his fingers push his cum deeper inside. He tastes the mixture of you both and it makes him happy to know that there is such physical evidence of you together. You cry out one last time, lurching upwards as Rick helps you ride out your high. He finally pulls away completely and you let out a small laugh in absolute disbelief of how good that was.
"That good, huh, darlin'," Rick grinned and you nodded, reaching down to pull him in for a kiss.
You both relaxed into the bed, giddy and cuddled up next to each other.
After a bit of peace, you looked up at him, "Are you feeling better?"
He smiled, leaning down and kissing your forehead, "Much."
"Thank you," he murmured into your hair and you smiled, "Anytime."
The serenity you both created was broken by the sound of the door to the house closing and your dad's voice booming out, "Hi! I'm home!"
Whatever little pocket of peace, the temporary paradise you bestowed upon each other, was shattered with those three words. Rick rolled away from you like a man on fire, dropping to the ground in an effort to scramble for his clothes.
"Fuck," you whispered and the man muttered unholy mantras under his breath as he struggled to put his clothes on.
You put on a nightgown you owned and a robe, "Calm down. He doesn't come into my room without knocking and you left nothing downstairs that would be evidence you were here. You're going to have to wait for him to go to his room before you can slip out the door anyway."
You heard your dad call for you again as his footsteps were heard coming up the stairs and down the hall towards your room. You and Rick looked at each other in a panic.
"I can jump outta the window, a fracture never hurt nobody," he said, already pulling at the window.
Your dad knocked on the door, "Sweetie? Everything okay? Just got back from hanging with the guys."
You signaled to Rick to stop moving and to stay quiet, before calling back out to him, "Yeah everything's good! Just woke up from a nap is all! I'll be down in a sec!"
Your dad yawned, "No worries! Take your time too, think Imma take a shower 'n freshen up."
You could hear him move away from your door and towards the bathroom. Neither you nor Rick moved a hair until the sounds of the water rushing caused you to both sag in relief.
"Were you really about to jump out the window, just to avoid him," you quipped, quirking an eyebrow.
Rick did not look amused, "I really don't want to hurt him."
You put your hands up in a surrendering motion, you really didn't want to redo this conversation again, "Okay, okay. Let's get you out of here."
You poked your head out of the room, double checking that the coast was clear and then motioned for Rick to follow you. You guys climbed down the stairs and reached the front door. You both went out onto the porch and he began to move away.
Quickly, you grasped onto his arm, "You're not going to start treating me coldly again, are you?"
"Pretty sure it was you doin' that, darlin'," he chuckled, but stopped seeing your expression.
"You know what I mean," you pouted.
Rick sighed, before reaching down and pecking you on the head, "I do. And I won't."
You gave a bright smile, practically blinding him. Leaning up on your tiptoes, you planted a sweet kiss on his lips.
"I look forward to seein' you around, then."
Rick nodded, a slight blush covering his face, "Wouldn't miss it for the world, darlin'."
He stepped away, turning to watch you reenter the house before going back on his way home. Life kept draining him, but you kept him going like a solar-powered battery.
Next up:
"YOU DID WHAT TO MY KID?" Your dad roared.

My Future in You | 2.3 | Bradley Bradshaw x Reader
Tumblr media
Previous Chapter | Next Chapter | Masterlist
Synopsis: Bradley’s twenty-two years old and not where he’s supposed to be. He’s supposed to be out of the academy by now. Instead, he’s retaking his senior year of college and praying to god that he gets into flight school. Mav’s gone, his mom’s gone. He’s mad at the world. Then, a hook up at a Halloween party changes his future even more than he could have imagined.
Warnings: accidental pregnancy, references to abortion in a few chapters, angst, will be fluff eventually, enemies to lovers kinda thing, mentions of pregnancy / birth complications, mentions of not eating frequently, lack of hunger
The drive home in silence just gives Bradley’s anger time to multiply, growing until he’s so restless that his car door is open before the engine is even off. He slams it behind him, knuckles white around the strap of his bag as he walks around to the front door. That slams too.
It startles you, making you flinch and almost drop the mug in your hand. The now lukewarm coffee that you’ve been trying to sip at for an hour spills down onto the white of your sweater. It’s just a small mark, easy enough to ignore.
His brows knit together slightly as he catches sight of your face from the other end of your open living space. The whole way here, it had felt like he practically had steam coming out of his ears. His palms are still reddish and warm from how tightly he was grabbing the wheel. But, he sees it in the way you’re looking at him and knows that his thing — all of the anger, resentment, blinding rage that Mav brings up in him — it doesn’t matter.
Immediately, he lets his bag, and everything that seeing Mav had just stirred up within him, go.
“What’s wrong?” He’s already rushing forwards, heading for you.
You had promised yourself that you wouldn’t do this and that you wouldn’t freak him out by crying. It just happens. A soft, heartbroken squeak as he reaches you and you throw yourself against his chest.
“Did something happen at the appointment?” He breathes out, wrapping his arms around you and squeezing.
“It’s — it’s not that bad, but he…” You have to pull back and force yourself to breathe to even attempt at the words. “He’s smaller than he should be, and the doctor gave me this pamphlet, and I’ve just been freaking out all day.”
Bradley secures you against him with one arm and turns his attention to the little orange leaflet on the counter with a smiling baby girl with glasses on the front of it. He presses his lips softly to the top of your head. With his free hand, he cautiously opens up the front page.
Your hands curl into the fabric of his khakis, breathing him in, pulling him closer to you. It takes him a few moments, to read what it says and to process it. He never once lets you go.
Just giving a small shake of his head, he exhales and squeezes you closer. “Okay. What did the doctor say we need to do?”
“I need to go for a blood test on Friday and another ultrasound on Tuesday. She said that I should be eating healthy, and more frequently, um — eight hours of sleep, rest. If it’s fetal growth restriction then he could have issues during birth or even after.”
Bradley cups your face in his hands and nods slowly. You can feel his heartbeat in his chest and it just doesn’t make sense that he’s able to appear so calm when you know that he isn’t.
“Okay,” He nods, his voice low. “Alright. When was the last time you ate?”
“I had a sandwich for lunch but I just don’t feel hungry, I’ve been crying all day.” You mumble out as he presses closer to you, smoothing a large palm down your back. You nuzzle your cheek against his shirt, exhaling slowly.
Both of you stand in the kitchen, holding each other close, shit scared of what this means. This future that you have committed absolutely everything to, this little thing that you’re so ready to love, and the fear that there could be absolutely no way of protecting it.
Bradley closes his eyes and turns his face towards yours, hugging you closer. His memories of his dad are fuzzy. His memories of his mother back then are fuzzy too. He doesn’t remember her crying much. He remembers them laughing a lot. Standing here, he wishes he had at least one clear memory left — just so that he’d know what to do now.
Most people probably get to share these worries with their parents, to ask them these questions. You’ve just got each other.
He doesn’t know what to do. The silence is setting in and the orange on that pamphlet feels like it’s becoming more obnoxious by the second.
“Well, I’ll cook tonight, and I’ll be really offended if you don’t finish what I make you.” It’s half playful, he presses his lips to your cheek and pulls back to look at you, fingers trembling against your sides, “It’s just been a stressful couple of months, you just need to relax these last few weeks. ‘M gonna take care of you.”
Crowded against the kitchen counter, you take a few seconds to just be held by him, tucking yourself back in against his chest.
You imagine your mother, probably staring at those six missed calls and feeling smug with herself — knowing that you’d have come crawling back for help eventually. You’re an idiot for thinking that she would’ve been able to help. You tug Bradley closer and press your face into his shoulder. Maybe she’s not really doing that. Maybe she’s sitting there and wondering if she should call you back. Either way, it doesn’t matter.
Everything you’ve given up and gone through, this new family that you’ve scraped together, it’s all that you need.
“You wanna come to the store with me or you wanna take a nap?” Bradley asks you, smoothing his hands down along your middle.
Your answer is immediate, filling the air before silence has a chance to set in.
“I don’t want to be on my own.” You admit, exhaling softly into the warmth of his chest. Bradley nods and kisses your temple. He keeps it to himself that he’s pleased with your answer. After the mood he was in and the day that you’ve had, he just wants you where he can see you.
So, the two of you take your car. It’s easier to get into than trying to haul yourself up into the bronco these days. It’s more of a family car. It’s crazy, actually, how much you’re starting to look like a family. Him, in his uniform and an arm draped around you, your hand resting on your swollen stomach.
He drives with his hand on your thigh, your arm looped through his. Then, once you’re in the store, he pushes the cart with you at his side.
“I could ask you what you want, or I could surprise you. What are you two in the mood for?” Bradley asks, leaning down to kiss the top of your head as you hug his arm.
“I’m not hungry, I don’t know.” You shake your head softly.
“Surprise it is.” Bradley decides, taking his arm out from the loop you’re holding it in and draping it around your shoulders instead. He pulls you in against his side and presses his palm over both of your eyes, covering your vision with a sudden darkness.
“Bradley, I’m seriously going to fall break my face!” You gasp, grabbing at his hand. You don’t even notice it. He beams with pride as you smile, finally.
He nudges you in front of him, between him and the cart, laughing softly as he guides you forwards, blind. “Have a little faith in me, I’m not gonna let anything happen to you. Just can’t risk you seeing my ingredients and ruining my surprise.”
“You’re an idiot,” You giggle, grabbing tightly onto the cart to steady yourself. He grins, kissing your cheek. “I’m so scared right now.”
“Scared? — C’mon, Mama, you’ve gotta start trusting me. I’ve got you.” Bradley teases, pressing his mouth to you jaw, pressing his chest into your back and making your laugh harder. He slows you, then stops. “Stay there, I’m grabbing something. Don’t open your eyes.”
Your heart flutters as his hands briefly leave you. There’s a chill in the supermarket without his body crowding around you to keep you warm. He’s back quickly anyway, something clatters into the cart.
“What a beautiful family you are!” The voice is soft, pleasant sounding. An older lady. You peek one eye open and find her beaming at you from a few feet away.
“Thank you.” Bradley answers, surging with pride as he puts a polite amount of space between you and him, still close enough to keep you bracketed between him and the cart.
“You’ll do just fine, making each other laugh like that,” Her eyes as crinkling at the corners, a smile spreading across her aged face. She looks fondly between the two of you, then nods. “Congratulations on the little one. How lovely. Your first?”
“Yes, Ma’am.” Bradley answers. You almost sigh in relief that he’s not choosing now to try to make funny jokes.
“How lucky they will be, to have parents so in love.” She smiles. Bradley’s hand covers yours over the top of the cart, knitting his fingers through yours. Neither one of you says a word, at first. You’ve not said that yet. Technically, you’ve only been together for a few weeks. “You two have a lovely day.”
“You too, thank you.” Bradley remains polite, smiling at her softly. She looks the two of you over, fondly, almost reminiscent, and then she walks away.
Bradley catches you off guard, tearing you back away from your own thoughts as he covers your eyes once more. His lips press to your earlobe as he growls playfully, “You better not have checked out my ingredients, Seresin.”
“You’re paranoid.” You tell him, blinded under his palm, grinning dumbly as you let him guide you forwards again.
He hums playfully, pressing a gentle kiss to your neck, “Mm, I just know what Seresins are like.”
“Your baby’s going to be one,” You point out. He chuckled behind you. “You’re gonna be outnumbered.”
He uses his hold on your face to turn your head, leaning over your shoulder and kissing your lips. “Can’t wait.”
So, like the love-sick fool that you are, you let him lead you blindly around the grocery store, whispering jokes into your ear and planting playful kisses onto your neck. Your heart’s swollen and you’re so confused about how it could ever have been hurt by this same person.
Finally, after making you promise not to look several times, he uncovers your eyes and hands you the keys. Your feet are sore and there’s no point waiting in the checkout line with him. He watches you waddle out of the store with a dumb grin on his face.
It makes him want to grin as big as he can, watching the changes that come with your pregnancy. Not being able to tie your shoe laces anymore, knocking things off of the bathroom counter with your belly — waddling is a new one. It’s a special type of adorable, he’s certain that he’ll never grow tired of seeing it.
Loading your items onto the checkout, he pulls his phone from his pocket and waits, unaware of the eyes on him.
It was made abundantly clear earlier, that Bradley had no desire to speak to Maverick. He had turned, looked, and swiftly walked away. That familiar red flush covering his face and neck. He’s had that since he was in diapers, blushing a deep shade of pink whenever he was upset about something.
But now, for Maverick to be standing in a grocery store, staring at the kid that he hasn’t seen in almost two years, for the second time in the same day — it feels like fate.
He drops his items down onto a random shelf and silently walks towards the checkout as Bradley loads his groceries back into the cart.
“Bradley?”
Bradley looks up, finding Pete staring at him again. His face goes blank, and he straightens up like a cat raising its heckles. Pete doesn’t move. Bradley turns swiftly and walks out of the store without a word.
You get out of the car as you see him coming, your smile fading slightly as you notice the look on his face. That hardened, terracotta flushed look.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah, let’s just go home.” Bradley practically tears open the trunk. Your brows draw together as you watch him load the groceries into it.
There’s a feeling, something in your peripheral that makes you turn your head. There’s a man standing by the edge of the parking lot, the colour drained from his face, staring right at you.
Pete’s head spins, heat flooding his nerves.
Looking at Bradley already feels like he’s got to be eye-to-eye with a ghost. Now, he’s standing there and suddenly it’s the summer of 1984, and his best friend’s about to have a kid. The picture’s fuzzy now, as it sits in Pete’s wallet, but it’s clear as day in his mind. Goose and Carole on the end of the Santa Monica boardwalk. She’s so pregnant that she could barely walk, but she was beaming — she had demanded to go to the beach that day.
He studies the crystal clear image before him now. Bradley in his khakis from work. The pregnant girl who’s smile has just faded, staring back at him.
Bradley takes one look at your face and then turns, following your gaze.
“Do you know that guy?” You ask gently, glancing up at Bradley.
“Wait in the car for me.” He answers you, slamming the trunk shut and turning. His pace is purposeful, storming across the parking lot until he’s almost nose-to-nose with Pete.
“What do you want?” Bradley spits.
“You… You’re having a kid?” Pete breathes out, confused, shaking his head. The reality of it hasn’t quite set in yet.
“I said: what do you want?” The same angry kid as he knew before stands in front of him again. Pete shakes his head again.
“You’re not ready to be a parent.”
“Just like I wasn’t ready to be a pilot?” Bradley answers back. You watch from beside the car as he steps closer to the older man, squaring his shoulders like he’s about to hit him.
“Think about your future! I mean — have you even thought this throu—“
“Don’t talk to me about my future after what you did.” He barks, loud enough for you to hear finally, eyes ablaze, shoulders squared. Maverick always forgets how much Bradley has grown. He looks up slightly as Bradley walks closer to him.
Maverick looks now to you, with one hand on your stomach and a confused look on your face.
“This isn’t what I wanted for you.” Maverick admits quietly. He’s not sure what makes him say it, it’s already too late, you look pretty far along. But, he says it anyway. When it comes to Bradley, there’s this intense need to do the right thing that usually propels him into doing the wrong thing.
“I didn’t mean — I shouldn’t have —“ Maverick stutters, shaking his head. It always ends like this. He always does the wrong thing. He sees the worry in your eyes. He always upsets Bradley without meaning to. “I’m sorry. Can we talk about this?”
“I don’t give a shit what you want, Mav,” Bradley shakes his head, disbelief. He stops walking finally and points a finger into Pete’s chest, deadly serious — less emotional than last time. “Stay the fuck away from me, stay the fuck away from my family.”
Blue eyes widened, serious, Maverick stares back at the boy before him. Bradley’s always had a temper, that’s nothing new. The sincerity in his tone is. He’s serious about you, it seems.
“Bradley?”
Both of them turn their heads to look at you at the same time. You swallow. His mouth sets into a hard line and it almost makes you wince. You’ve seen this before; it almost always winds up with you getting hurt.
It’s growing colder now that the sun has set. After the day you’ve had, you miss the days when you could take a hot bath. Going home and crawling under your covers would be enough at this point.
“I’m serious,” Bradley says slowly, giving his uncle a quick once over, and then taking a step back with a shake of his head. “You will never be family to me. Leave me alone.”
Without giving the man who had raised him time to argue, Bradley turns and walks back to the car, grinding his jaw.
“Who was that?” You frown.
“Come on,” Bradley sighs, shaking his head as he tugs open the passenger side door and motions for you to get in. “I’ll tell you later. I just want to go.”
You’ve seen Bradley angry — you’ve seen him being an asshole just for the sake of it. This isn’t that. You’ve never seen him rattled like this. So, you get in the car and you let him take you home, pretending not to see the way that the dark haired man watches you car pull out of the lot.
You let him cook for you and tell you about his week. You eat everything he makes you and he grins, proud of himself. After that, he insists that you spend the rest of the evening in bed. So, you do.
You spend it laying sideways with your head resting on his stomach and your legs dangling over the edge, his fingers toying with stands of your hair.
“So, who was that guy?” You ask finally.
And so, he tells you about Pete Mitchell for the first time. The man who raised him. Uncle Pete who let him stay up late and eat pizza, who came over on the days that Bradley’s mom just couldn’t stop crying. Uncle Pete who sometimes forgot that he promised to come to baseball games or pissed off an admiral and wound up in the middle of the ocean for a couple of months, so couldn’t come to that birthday party anymore.
The let downs and the wonderful memories weigh each other out. For every upside, there’s a downside with Maverick. And then it gets to Bradley’s senior year of high school, when Mav betrayed him. They hadn’t spoken since, other than at Carole’s funeral, briefly. That had gone worse than today had.
You squeeze his hand softly. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s alright,” Bradley says quietly. He smooths his hand down across my stomach. “I’m sorry that I did that in front of you. I’ve been trying to—“
You turn your head, pressing your lips gently to his knuckles. “I know.”
He exhales slowly. You know exactly how hard he had been trying for you.
“I love you.” You decide finally, leaning your head back so that you can look at him. Bradley raises his eyebrows. He’s had a couple of girls say it to him before, he’s never felt inclined to say it back. He would’ve never told them about Maverick, about his mother. He wouldn’t have ever been lying here with them, like this.
“I love you too.” He takes his hand away from your hair and strokes it along your jaw instead. You push yourself up, turning slowly towards him, kissing his lips chastely.
“We’re going to be alright. Right?” You ask quietly, resting your hand against his bare chest. His eyes soften just slightly as he gives you a calm nod.

You tossed and turned, wide awake and laying in an empty bed. You huffed and threw the covers to the side before leaving the master bedroom and going to look for Ben. You found him quickly; he was reading one of the books that had come in the mail, the lamp on behind him as he was laser-focused on the pages.
“Ben? Can you come to bed?” you asked quietly.
“Oh my god, you’re still awake?” he whisper-shouted. “Is everything okay?”
“I’m fine Ben, I just want to sleep next to you!”
“I’ll come to bed soon, okay? I just need to finish this chapter, it’s on nutrition so I think the more we know the better.”
“Ben,” you sighed as you walked over to him. “Can you read it in bed? Please?”
“But you can’t sleep if the bedroom light’s on,” he replied.
“I can’t sleep without you either, Ben, and I’d rather have the light on than an empty bed,” you said. “Please come sit in bed and read so I can be close to you?”
“You really can’t sleep without me?” He smiled widely. You rolled your eyes a little.
“I mean I could if I had to, but you’re right here and I want to be with you!”
“Okay,” he sighed.
As suspected, you fell asleep quite quickly when Ben was seated beside you. Something about his warm legs against your back really relaxed you.
**
When you woke up the next morning, the bed was empty again. You let out a slightly frustrated sigh.
“Please be in the kitchen,” you muttered to yourself, hoping Ben hadn’t secretly retreated to the living room to read all night once you fell asleep.
“Good morning my beautiful girlfriend!” Ben exclaimed when you walked into the kitchen.
“I look like shit right now,” you replied but couldn’t help the smile on your face. “What’s for breakfast? Is there pizza left from last night?” You opened the fridge but Ben stopped you from taking out the tupperware.
“I read that you should avoid eating leftovers,” he told you.
“What? That can’t be true?” you laughed a little.
“Sorry, hun.” He shrugged. “I made you scrambled eggs and toast, the book said those are good.”
“Thank you.” You smiled and put a hand on his cheek. He bent down and kissed you, wrapping a gentle arm around your waist. “I love you, Ben.”
“I love you,” he replied, also smiling. “Oh, Hughie got back to me. He said he could swing by on his lunch break later today,” he informed you as you both took your seats at the table. “He said there’s actually a whole chain of clinics across the country specifically for pregnant Supe’s and that it’s all very safe and kept confidential. So good news! You can see a gynecologist and not, you know… get kidnapped.”
“He’s positive it’s safe?” you asked, Ben nodded. “Let’s hope he’s right.”
“How’d you sleep last night? Did the light bother you?” Ben changed the subject, not wanting to focus on how scared he was for your safety.
“Well when I woke up the love of my life wasn’t beside me.” You sighed dramatically, making Ben smile. “But yeah, I slept well.”
“Sorry about last night, I should’ve just put the fuckin’ book down,” he laughed dryly.
“Don’t apologize.” You shook your head. “Ben, I am so grateful for you stepping up! I mean this whole pregnancy thing is kinda terrifying for me right now and you’ve been my fucking rock! Thank you for reading up on what I should be eating, honestly it slipped my mind.”
“Slipped your mind?” He furrowed his brows, you instantly knew what he was getting at.
“It’s not pregnancy brain fog,” you laughed a little. “It’s more like all I can think about is how fucking scary this really is! I mean, look what happened with Homelander!”
“Hey, let’s just,” he took your hand, “take a breath, we don’t have to think about that yet. Today we focus on getting you a doctor’s appointment.”
You nodded, silently thanking him.
**
“Hughie! Come on in!” Ben opened the door.
“Hey guys.” He smiled, walking in. “First off, oh my god!” He looked at you. “Congratulations! Like wow! This is incredible!” He hugged you, causing you to smile widely.
“Thank you, Hughie,” you said, hugging him back.
He congratulated Ben too before the three of you sat down at the kitchen table, now clean of breakfast evidence.
“So, like I told Ben on the phone,” Hughie spoke, looking at you as he opened the file folder he brought, “there’s something called ‘The Super-Abled Health Initiative’ which is basically just doctors for Supe’s. The closest gynecologist that takes part in this initiative is about a two hour drive.” He took out a pamphlet for the Initiative and another for the doctor’s office, sliding them across the table for you and Ben to take a look at. “Now, this specific office doesn’t only deal with Supe’s, however the doctor that takes Supe patients is a Supe herself. I figured you’d rather go to this one, but there’s another office that’s about a four hour drive that only takes Supe patients; however, they also have a strict no-Supe-doctors policy.”
“Yeah that definitely sounds sketchy,” you replied, referring to the second option. “So… how like… certain are you that this Initiative is safe?”
“One-hundred-percent.” He nodded, earning suspicious looks from both Supe’s sitting across from him. “It’s been going on for over five years and there isn’t any evidence of foul play.”
“Only five years?” Ben asked.
“It was created around the same time as Supe Affairs,” Hughie said. “Look, obviously this is a scary situation considering you’re both in the top ten most powerful Supe’s in Vought history and Soldier Boy is ridiculously famous, but this is also the safest option available.” Ben tensed up at the mention of his old name, you put a hand on his knee absent-mindedly to remind him he wasn’t that man anymore.
“So it’s all still pretty new?” Ben knitted his brows with concern. All he wanted was to keep you safe; if that meant possibly losing the baby he could live with that. He couldn’t live with losing you.
Hughie continued on and explained the Supe pregnancy statistics. How often the expectant mother died when she was a human carrying a Supe, how often the baby was a Supe, more and more reasons for you to freak the hell out about the whole thing.
“Yeah, I can’t do this.” You shook your head and stood up. Ben looked up at you with concern. He reached out to hold your hand, and you responded by putting said hand to his cheek. “Just- Just make the appointment or whatever for me, please. I’m gonna go lie down before I have a full-fledged panic attack over the fact I may be dooming all of humanity with Homelander Two: Possibly Worse Edition.”
You hurried out of the kitchen and into the bedroom, closing the door behind you. When you were out of Hughie’s earshot you let yourself cry, tears streaming down your cheeks.
“I’m so sorry.” Hughie looked at Ben.
“No, it’s not you,” he replied, shaking his head. “So do we just call and make an appointment?”
Hughie looked a little confused by the question, then realized that Ben would’ve never had the need to make a doctor’s appointment in his entire life.
“I can call for you if you want,” Hughie offered.
“Thanks.”
**
After Hughie left, Ben went to go talk to you.
“Honey?” he said quietly, opening the door. “Hughie just left, he said to tell you ‘bye’.”
“Sorry for leaving you alone out there,” you mumbled. You looked up at him from where you laid on the bed.
“Don’t be, I handled it like a pro.” Ben grinned, taking a seat next to you. You smiled through the tears. You loved how he could make such an intense situation seem so lighthearted.
“Thank you,” you whispered. You reached out and took his hand in yours, pulling him down to lay next to you. He positioned himself on his side so he could face you, not letting go of your hand. “I love you.”
“I love you more,” he said. “Hughie made the appointment for tomorrow at two, is that okay?” You nodded, still smiling. “When we go in, we’re only supposed to use our first names and since neither of us really have a last name, they’ll assign us a series of numbers when we get there. They do not want us to utter my Supe name because apparently I’ll draw too much attention.”
“Yeah you tend to draw a crowd, don’t you?” You smiled.
**
“There’s your baby,” Dr.Roberts told you, pointing at the screen.
“Is…Is that the heartbeat?” you asked, she nodded. “That’s what you heard that morning?” You looked at Ben, who was smiling and had tears brimming his eyes.
“Told ya,” he replied.
“Oh my god,” you giggled a little.
“Your baby looks healthy,” the doctor said.
“Boy or girl?” Ben asked.
“Don’t tell him!” you said quickly. “I- I think I want it to be a surprise.
“It’s actually too early to know the sex,” the doctor replied, smiling. “What matters right now is keeping the baby healthy. The best way to do that is take care of yourself, Y/n. I know you’re used to being invincible but right now your baby is not. You need to start thinking like a regular human.”
“Meaning, what?” you asked.
“Well, for one; daily vitamins. I can give you a list of ones that have worked for other Supe’s.”
After the ultrasound, Dr.Roberts answered all the questions you and Ben had, as well as explained some things about the way this specific office handled Supe pregnancy.
“The biggest thing to remember for when the baby comes - do not breastfeed! Many, many Supe’s have traces of V in what they give their baby which always ends up either killing the baby or strengthening any power they have. Most of the time it’s the former.” The smile plastered on your face fell into disappointment and you zoned out a bit. “You’ll both have to sign these papers,” Dr.Roberts handed them to Ben, “not right now, you can have some time to read over them or involve a lawyer if you want. It basically just says that you are both aware you have Compound V in your system, how that will affect your baby, that you are the father, and that Y/n is willingly having this baby.”
“Is this something all the parents sign?” Ben asked. “Seems a little extreme.”
“It’s just for Supe’s so that they can’t sue us if they’re baby does end up also being a Supe.”
“Oh, I guess that makes sense,” Ben muttered.
“Here’s that list of vitamins,” Dr.Roberts handed you the paper as you were pulled from your thoughts and back to reality. “As well as some foods to avoid and foods to eat more frequently. You may notice the food list is a bit different for us. It’s not an exact science, but the baby tends to be healthier when the mom eats these specific foods.”
“What are the chances this baby won’t be a Supe?” you asked as you looked away from the papers in front of you and at the doctor. She sighed, looking nervous. “Like, off the record, what’s your personal opinion?”
“Off the record? I’d say there’s no way this baby isn’t going to be a Supe. Probably the strongest one we’ve seen, considering their dad is Soldier Boy and their mother is… well, you know.”
**
Ben kept his eyes on the road as he reached his hand over to hold yours.
“All the scary stuff aside,” he started, “I’m so fucking excited about this baby… are you?”
You took a second to think before nodding, “Yeah, I am. And, all the scary stuff aside, there’s no one I would rather be having this baby with, Ben.” You kissed his hand. “I love you.”
“I love you so much,” he replied. “We need to stop at the store, don’t we?”
“Yeah we don’t have most of the stuff on this list,” you laughed a little. “I’m pushing the cart this time, though.”
“You’re hilarious.” He shook his head, letting out a fake laugh.
**
Ben’s head was resting on your lap as you played with his hair and focused on the movie you two were watching. (A horror movie, much to Ben’s dismay; he claimed it might scare the baby.)
“Do you wanna tell Butcher and the others?” Ben asked. “Cause Hughie already knows, so… should we tell everyone?”
“I think it’s still pretty early but I guess the more people who know the better. If Vought does find out, they’ll have a harder time covering it up if Billy Butcher knows about it,” you laughed a little.
“Yeah he wouldn’t let ‘em get away with hurting you.” Ben smiled up at you, turning away from the TV. “Ooh we need baby names too!”
“Have any in particular?”
“Jim?”
“A little plain I think, but I guess James then could be Jim for short.”
“Micheal? Or, if they’re a girl, Michelle?”
“Oh I like Michelle!” You smiled.
**
You two ended up calling Butcher that night and telling him the good news.
As the weeks went by and your belly slowly started growing, Ben talked more and more to the baby. You woke up one night to him mumbling to your stomach; his head resting on your chest (carefully, as not to hurt your boobs), his hand cradling your belly.
“God, I hope you have your mother’s eyes,” he whispered. “She always tells me how much she loves my eyes but believe me hers are so much more beautiful. So bright and full of love. I hope you have her laugh too!” He paused, running his hand over your skin. “I know you’re probably gonna be a Supe…but I’m praying to any god that’s up there you’re not. Life’s so messy when you’re a Supe, kid. So please, please don’t be one!”
You moved your hand into his hair and felt him tense up for a moment.
“Damn it I think I just woke your mom up, I’ll be quiet now,” Ben whispered.
“Mhm, keep talking,” you mumbled. “Love your voice.”
He sat up and kissed your cheek gently before laying back down.
“Go easy on your mom for me, okay?” he whispered, once again talking to the baby.
**
“Pamela?” Ben suggested.
“No!”
“Meredith?”
“What? No!”
“Phyllis!”
You were once again trying out different baby names, Ben with his head on your lap so “the baby can be part of the conversation”.
“Oh my god!” you exclaimed. “Are you just naming characters from The Office!?”
“…No,” Ben mumbled before grinning.
“Ben! I need you to be serious here; this baby is gonna get bullied to death if we name them Phyllis.”
“Okay.” He rolled his eyes. “Amelia, Rachel, Amy, Katherine, Emily, it’s not that hard to name a baby girl! A boy is a different story. Most guy names suck ass.”
“Yeah, Ben is a terrible name,” you replied, he looked genuinely hurt for a moment. “Ben, I’m kidding!” you said quickly.
“I know, I was just scaring ya.” He smirked, you rolled your eyes.
“How about William?” you asked. You’d actually put a lot of thought into it, and if you were having a boy you really wanted to name them after the man who saved you and Ben.
“As in Butcher?” Ben laughed a little. “You wanna name our perfect little piece of heaven after Billy Butcher!?”
“Yeah…” you mumbled, a little disappointed he was so against it. “I mean Butcher is the reason we met in the first place, the reason we aren’t being disected like lab rats, and I know deep down he’s a good person. I think our baby would be proud to be named after him.”
“You’ve really thought about this, haven’t you?”
“Yeah… for a couple months now.”
“Honey! Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Cause I was afraid you’d react exactly how you just did,” you scoffed a little. “Can you sit up? I need to get a drink.”
He sat up off your lap and you got off the couch, heading to the kitchen.
“Damn it,” Ben mumbled to himself before following you. “I’m sorry for reacting like that, I was just surprised.”
“You weren’t surprised Ben, you looked disgusted at the idea of our baby being named after Billy,” you scoffed. “How about last names?” You changed the subject. “We need a last name too, our baby can’t just have one name.”
“I haven’t thought about the last name much, you?”
You paused and pretended to think. “Krasinski?”
“I second that! Boom, done; our last name’s Krasinski!” Ben smiled.
“I was kidding!” you giggled.
**
You and Ben were back at the store getting food and stocking up on baby supplies for when the little one arrived in a few weeks.
“Shit, we forgot to get milk,” Ben said after a while of being away from the dairy section. “I’m gonna go grab it; you stay here and pick the jello you like, okay?”
“Mkay,” you mumbled, concentrating on the array of colored gelatin cups in front of you. “Love you!” you called out when he was a few feet away. He turned back around to kiss you quickly before leaving to get the milk.
“He’s a keeper, huh?” Someone behind you said. You turned and were met with the woman Ben had mentally scared with his ‘super sperm’ theory.
“He really is,” you replied.
“And you really are pregnant! Congratulations, hun!” She smiled.
“Thank you,” you replied, also smiling. “I- I’m sorry for what he said all those months ago,” you laughed awkwardly. “He… doesn’t have much of a filter sometimes and I’m sorry we freaked you out.”
“Oh, no! I didn’t leave because of what he said.” She shook her head, still smiling. “When I got a good look at his face, I realized who he was and why he looked so familiar.”
You froze, eyes widening. “Oh god,” you whispered.
“Don’t worry I haven’t said anything to anyone I promise! Even though my book club would love to see him in person!” she let out a soft chuckle. “You know at first I couldn’t believe my eyes! I mean the Soldier Boy? In my neighborhood!? But, I’m glad you two are happy together. I think he deserves to live a quiet life after all the people he’s saved.”
“Hey sweetheart,” Ben came up behind you and pressed a kiss to your temple, “I got the milk then I realized we need orange juice too, so I got some of that.” He put them both in the cart then placed an open hand on the small of your back.
“Honey this is…” you trailed off, asking for the woman’s name.
“Melissa,” she replied, holding her hand out for Ben to shake. “Nice to meet you…”
“Ben, and nice to meet you too,” he shook her hand.
“She recognized you,” you whispered very quietly so only Ben could hear. You felt him tense up next to you as his eyes widened ever so slightly.
“Well, we’ve uh- we have somewhere to be,” Ben stuttered as his hand moved to your waist to guide you away from the woman. “Uh my parent’s house, actually. They’re both alive and well and in their early seventies.” He tripped over his words and he hurried you out of the aisle, leaving the cart behind and confusing Melissa.
Ben moved his arm to wrap around your shoulders and hold you tight against him.
“Ben-”
“Shh, she might be listening,” he whispered.
He led you out to the car and when you both got there he opened the door for you. He made sure you were safely seated inside with the door closed before walking over to the driver’s side and taking a seat.
“Ben?” you asked quietly, seeing the fear in his now teary eyes.
“Fuck,” he mumbled, hitting the steering wheel angrily. “I’m so fuckin’ sorry!”
“Ben-”
“A-Are you s-sure she recognized me?” he asked, looking at you.
You nodded. “She said she couldn’t believe Soldier Boy was in this neighborhood.”
“Shit!” Ben put his face in his hands, you put a comforting hand on his shoulder. “Do you think she told anyone?” He turned his head and kissed your hand. “Fuck, Vought could already be on us!”
“Ben, I don’t think she meant anything by it,” you told him honestly. You moved your hand to the back of his head so you could run your fingers through his hair slowly. “She seemed in awe of you. She said she was happy you could live a quiet life after saving so many people.”
“You’re sure?” he asked, you nodded with a smile when he looked at you. “Fuck, I’m sorry for freaking out.”
“Don’t be.”
“It’s just- one wrong move, one wrong person recognizing either of us and that’s it! This whole life we’ve built together gets torn down, you get taken from me, I get put back under, and our child is doomed. We’re doomed. I’m so fuckin’ scared of losing you, Y/n.”
“I love you so much, Ben. And I know, this situation is fucking terrifying but don’t forget; you are the strongest man alive, Ben. We can get through this.”
“Should we go back inside? We really need that stuff, we’re dangerously low on food.”
You laughed a little. “I think we can, if you’re up for it.”
“Okay, let’s go back inside.”
“You’re sure?” you asked, not wanting him to feel pushed into going back in.
“Yeah, she’s probably harmless.”
**
“You two are officially Benjamin and Y/n Barnes,” Hughie said, handing you the legal documents he had forged. “Your baby now has a last name.”
“Thank you,” you replied. “Well, get on in here; there’s alcohol on the table for everyone but me, and Ben started a betting pool for guessing the sex of the baby.”
“Did he really?” Hughie laughed, closing the door behind him.
“Yep,” you laughed back.
The baby shower had been going well so far. Hughie was a little late because of him getting the documents, but he joined the others in the living room as you did the same. You sat down next to Ben and he kissed you.
“Shit, was I supposed to bring a gift?” Hughie asked, seeing the pile in the corner of the room.
“You did; the forged legal documents,” you replied.
“We also bought them a stroller,” Annie told him. “It’s the big box.”
“And we are very grateful!” Ben assured them. “For the papers and the stroller.”
A sharp pain in your stomach made your teeth clench and you sucked in a sudden breath.
“You okay?” Ben asked you quietly. You nodded and he put his arm around your shoulder.
“You two settled on a name yet?” Frenchie asked.
“Actually we’d like some help in that department,” Ben said. “We’re still not sure.”
“If they’re a girl; Annie. If they’re a boy… Anno,” Annie laughed a little.
“Annie is a nice name, but I don’t think Anno even qualifies as a suggestion,” you replied, giggling.
“Alright, new game; everyone writes down actual suggestions and if we pick your suggestion you get a fraction of the betting pool,” Ben said.
“That sounds rigged,” Butcher chuckled.
Another sharp pain made you reach and squeeze Ben’s knee.
“Shit something’s wrong,” Ben mumbled. “Honey?”
“No, no, I’m fine. I- I’m gonna go get some water,” you replied. Before you could stand up Ben told you he’d get it for you.
“Love you,” he whispered and kissed your forehead before he left.
He brought you back a glass of ice water and you thanked him. As you held the drink another sharp pain ripped through your stomach and you dropped the cup, the clear glass breaking as it hit the floor.
“B-Ben?” you gasped.
“Oh god.” His eyes widened as he saw the blood beginning to stain the couch.

F. Castle
Those black letters had been staring up at you for over an hour. When you walked into your office this morning, the manila folder with Frank’s name on it was waiting on your desk. A furrow formed between your brows as you quickly looked around your office, not catching anyone’s eyes when you looked out into the hallway. You cautiously walked over towards your desk, fingertips barely tracing over the label with his name on it, as you tried to figure out who might have left it.
Your fingers paused when a name suddenly popped into your head.
Billy.
»»——— ———««
“Where the hell’s he goin’?”
Billy stared down at you curiously, eyes continuously darting back and forth between Frank’s ghost and your stunned expression. You hadn’t realized that you’d still been standing in the exact spot that Frank left you in, completely oblivious of all the other couples dancing around your statue. Billy gently grabbed onto your shoulder, dark brows pulling together towards the center of his forehead as he bent down slightly to reach your eye level.
“Y/N?”
“I wanna go home.”
Billy’s face immediately morphed into a more serious expression, and he transitioned into full on bodyguard mode. Wrapping his arm around your waist to lead you towards the hall with the elevators, he pulled an ear piece out of his pocket to slip in and brought his wrist up to his mouth to speak into his comms.
“Bring the car around front, now.”
Pressing the call button for one of the elevators, Billy turned his attention fully on your silent form.
“What happened?”
All you could think about was Frank’s words, echoing in your ears over and over and over as his vengeful glare bore into your eyes.
She died.
Billy grasped onto your shoulders a little firmer to capture your attention, bending down again to be level with your eyesight as he kept his voice calm.
“Y/N, I need you to tell me if this is an emotional thing, or a threat thing, so I know how to direct my guys. Because I’ve got no fuckin’ idea why Frank just took off like that, and the look on your face is makin’ me nervous. Talk to me, Y/N/N.”
“I just wanna go home, Billy.”
Billy’s stare was unwavering, even as the metal doors of the elevator parted with a ding. His dark eyes scanned over your face and entire body before he gave a slight nod of his head and ushered you into the elevator, pulling his comms up to his mouth again.
“Everyone report to your vehicles. We’re headed to the lobby. I’m takin’ Y/L/N home.”
The glass of the window was cool against your temple when you rested your head against it, closing your eyes for a moment as you let out a shuddering breath. All you could see flashing behind your eyelids was Frank’s face.
Billy pulled his ear piece out as he eyed you, tucking it back into his jacket pocket.
“What happened with Frank?”
“I shouldn’t have asked him.”
“Asked him what?”
The busy streets of New York passed by in a blur as you watched out the window, but you couldn’t see any of it. All you could see was his face.
“I thought…when I saw the ring around his neck…I thought he was getting divorced. I didn’t know that…that his wife…”
You couldn’t even finish that sentence. Your brain was still trying to process the way Frank had said it. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Billy immediately stiffen, and his facial features became darker as you looked over at him.
“Did you know her?”
Billy clenched his jaw tightly as he stared straight ahead, only giving a slight nod of his head.
“She was like family. She was family.”
“What hap-”
“Not my place to say.”
Billy’s voice was stern, with a slight edge to it, and you immediately let the endless questions bubbling in your throat die on your tongue. The rest of the ride was completely silent as you tried to wrap your brain around all of this new information. You knew that Billy and Frank had known each other for a long time, but you didn’t realize just how close they were. Your heart felt heavy in your chest, overflowing with guilt for ripping open a wound not just for Frank, but for Billy too.
“I…I’m sorry. I didn’t…I wasn’t trying to…I’m-”
“You didn’t know.”
“It’s not my business.”
Billy’s eyes were a little more sympathetic than the rest of his features as he looked at you. As soon as his car pulled up outside your home, you rushed to unbuckle yourself, wanting to put as much distance between yourself and the mess you had made as possible.
“Thank you…for everything, tonight. I’m just gonna-”
“I’ll walk you.”
“You don’t have to-”
“I’m still on the clock.”
Billy didn’t give you another chance to protest as he opened his door to get out, coming around to meet you on your side so that he could walk you up to your door. Whatever nerve you had struck with him had completely evaporated the playful mood he was usually in, and you found yourself missing that version of him in place of this one. Your fingers trembled as you pulled your keys from your purse, and your heart felt like it was going to beat out of your chest as you both stood in front of your door.
“Billy…I’m so sorry-”
“You can’t help it. It’s the investigative journalist in you.”
Billy attempted to give you a reassuring smile, but it never made it to the edges of his mouth. He let out a deep exhale through his nose, adjusting his tie as he glanced around silently for a moment.
“Give him time. Frankie’s kinda like a cat. You gotta let him come to you.”
Letting out a shaky breath, you traced your thumb over your key, staring down at it for a moment as you tried to figure out what to say. You didn’t want to see the hurt and disappointment in Billy’s eyes.
“Thank you…for coming with me tonight. And…for everything. I really appreciate it.”
“If you wanted to go on a date with me so bad, all you had to do was ask, doll.”
When your eyes snapped up, Billy’s signature cocky smirk was back on his lips, and his eyes were softer and shining with mischief. A little bit of the weight from earlier felt like it had been lifted off your shoulders, and you rolled your eyes as you tried to fight the smile that tugged at the corner of your mouth.
“I’d never give you the satisfaction, Russo.”
»»——— ———««
Billy had to have been the one that left it. But why? What did he want you to know?
You had spent the past hour waging an internal war with yourself over it. Part of you desperately wanted to know what was inside, especially if it had answers about Frank and his wife. A bigger part of you felt guilty at the idea of invading his privacy like that. If he wanted you to know, he would tell you.
Why would Frank want you to know? Why had he even brought it up at the gala? He could’ve lied. He could’ve said anything but that.
Letting out a frustrated sigh, you grabbed the folder and shoved it into your bag, deciding it was a problem for later since you had a staff meeting in five minutes. Grabbing your notebook and pen in one hand and your coffee in the other, you made your way to the large meeting room where everyone was gathering around, taking a seat towards the front of the long table. Your editor adjusted his glasses on the bridge of his nose as he clasped his hands together.
“Alright, I’m sure most of you heard by now, but there was another bomb attack this morning right in front of the Royal Hospitality hotel. We don’t have a lot of details right now, but we do know a car parked out front was rigged to explode. This was most likely directed at senatorial candidate Stan Ori. He was supposed to deliver a speech there for his campaign about gun control this morning. We don’t have confirmation on the number of injuries or deaths yet. Ground team, I want you as close to the scene as possible. Get me everything you can: eye witness statements, pictures, anything. Internal team, I want you contacting all our sources at NYPD and Metro General for anything we can use. We need to run something today, the sooner the better. We clear? Alright, get to work. Y/L/N, stay back a minute.”
Confusion settled over your features as you stared up at your editor, watching as everyone quickly scattered out of the room. Once the two of you were alone, he let out a deep sigh and settled his hands on his hips while giving you a pointed look.
“I don’t want you touching this.”
Fury instantly spread through your bloodstream as you abruptly stood up from your chair.
“You can’t be serious.”
“As a heart attack.”
“Ellison-”
“You are already too close to this. Do I need to remind you why you’re walking around with a shadow?”
“This is my job-”
“Your job is to write what I tell you, and I am telling you this is off limits.”
“Ellison, I was with Stan when they called into that radio interview. I can get an exclusive with him-”
“So they can threaten you?”
“They’ve already threatened me!”
“Which is exactly why you aren’t going anywhere near this, Y/N. I am not making the same mistake with you that I made with Ben. Do you understand?”
All the fire raging within you suddenly fizzled out at the mention of Ben’s name, and you slowly deflated. Ben Urich had been somewhat of a mentor to you when you started at the Bulletin. He had been an incredible writer that published some of the most groundbreaking stories the paper had ever seen, and he had begrudgingly taken you under his wing once he realized you weren’t going to give him an option not to. The office you worked out of now had once been his, and you hadn’t changed a single thing about it.
Ben had gotten too close to Wilson Fisk in the process of writing an article to expose him for what he really was, and while it was never proven in court, you knew Fisk had been the one that murdered him.
“Yeah…I understand.”
“I know you hate this shit. Okay, I do too. But pride is not worth losing your life over.”
“It’s not pride, Ellison. It’s…anger. I’m tired and angry.”
“Kind of a shame your beloved Punisher was gunned down. If there was ever a time I wished that guy was still alive, it’s now. Never thought I would ever say that, but…he probably would’ve had these assholes taken care of after the first attack. He was efficient, I’ll give him that.”
Shooting a glare in Ellison’s direction, you crossed your arms defiantly over your chest as you shook your head.
“He wasn’t-I never said he was…shut up.”
You knew Ellison was right to forbid you from covering the attacks. You had already put yourself at risk too much already. But it didn’t make it any less infuriating.
As you stormed back into your office, you slammed your door shut so hard, it rattled the hinges. A frustrated groan fell from your lips as you tiredly rubbed your palms down your face.
“That good, huh?”
Jumping at the sound of Frank’s deep voice cutting through the silence of your office, you quickly spun around to see him sitting in a chair in the corner of the room. There was a hint of amusement in his eyes as he stared over at you, and you swore you saw the faintest of smiles threatening to spill over his lips.
“What…where did you come from?”
“You want the long answer, or the short one?”
You stared at him in complete disbelief. Frank was sitting calmly in the corner of your office, giving you sass like he hadn’t just told you an Earth-shattering revelation no more than seventy-two hours ago before completely disappearing again. He cocked his head to the side as he stared over at you, arching one of his dark brows quizzically.
“Ya’know, as your keeper, it’s pretty concernin’ how little regard you have for your own safety.”
“What?”
“I coulda shot you, or came up behind you with a knife. You wouldn’t have even known I was in here. You really gotta start checkin’ rooms before you enter ‘em, and lockin’ your goddamn door. You even got anythin’ in here to protect yourself with?”
“Yeah, you.”
Frank’s eyes narrowed at your response, and you crossed your arms over your chest as you arched one of your brows in return. If he wanted to do sassy today, you could do sassy, and you could do it better.
“I meant a weapon, smartass.”
“Again, you. Isn’t that what they’re paying you for?”
“How ‘bout when I’m not here?”
“Then I get your replacement. At least, that’s what I’ve been getting every time you’ve gone MIA lately.”
Frank’s jaw instantly tensed at your snappy reply, and you didn’t miss the way he sat up a little straighter in the chair. Lightly scoffing, you rolled your eyes as you stalked over to your desk to sit down, tossing your notebook and pen carelessly onto it.
“Should I sign up for self defense classes? Or just skip straight to buying a gun, Frank? What’s your professional recommendation?”
Were you being bitchy? Absolutely. Did Frank deserve it? Abso-fucking-lutey. You were not in the mood to deal with his emotional whiplash today.
“What’s got you in such a good mood?”
“Just seems to be National Asshole Day, and lucky me. I get to deal with all the biggest contenders.”
Frank grunted in annoyance as a sharp exhale left his nose, and you could feel his eyes staring daggers into the side of your face.
“Whenever you’re done throwin’ your fuckin’ tantrum and can talk to me like an adult, let me know. Yeah?”
You swiftly whipped your head in Frank’s direction, eyes wild with rancor and bewilderment at the audacity for him to say that to you when he was the one that consistently vanished instead of communicating. Frank’s lips were pursed in almost a pout, and there was a clear challenge shining in his eyes as he stared you down. Both of you refused to look away, or blink, like you were having a fucking staring contest. But Frank clearly hadn’t learned by now that you were just as stubborn as he was.
“I’ll start when you start.”
A muscle feathered in Frank’s strong jaw, and he nodded his head slowly as he leaned back in the chair, spreading his legs a little wider as he calmly crossed his arms over his chest.
“So it’s like that, then?”
“Yeah, Frank. It’s like that.”
Frank stared you down silently as you narrowed your eyes in dissent, a look of irritation and complete exasperation etched onto his features. Shaking his head with a scoff, he slapped his hands on his thighs before suddenly standing, his boots thudding heavily against the floor as he marched over towards your door.
“Where are you going?”
“To find somethin’ to fix that fuckin’ attitude of yours.”
A scornful laugh slipped past your lips as Frank spoke to you over his shoulder, shutting your door far less than gently as he disappeared down the hallway. You slipped your fingers into your hair and ran them through to the ends in frustration, angrily unlocking your computer as you swore under your breath.
“Asshole.”
Twenty minutes later, Frank reappeared in your office, slamming a very large iced coffee along with a small brown paper bag down on your desk. A crease formed between your brows when you noticed the name of your favorite cafe on the cup, and you tilted your head back to look up at Frank in complete perplexity.
“What’s this?”
“Knowin’ you, you ain’t ate nothin’ today, and you’re particular ‘bout your coffee. Figured between bein’ hangry and drinkin’ that shit they pass off as coffee in your breakroom, this would take care of at least two reasons you’re such a ray of fuckin’ sunshine today.”
You’d been so wrapped up in watching the news coverage of the attack this morning, you had almost forgotten about your little spat with Frank earlier. You followed his large frame with your eyes as he plopped back down into the chair he had claimed as his, grunting as he stared out your window with a broody look on his face while sipping his own coffee.
Frank didn’t normally sit in your office. He usually sat outside to get a better vantage point of all the exits, and to keep an eye on who was coming through the building. There were usually two other guards with Frank that stayed outside in a car, and you knew they were there because you had seen them on your way in. Even though you were still a little upset with him about his behavior at the gala, it was comforting having him to keep you company. Even if you two were in the middle of an argument.
Reaching for the cup, you closed your eyes and let out a quiet hum of approval as the familiar taste of blonde espresso and sweet cream cold foam hit your taste buds. Frank had a point. The coffee in your break room was terrible, but you’d been in a rush this morning and hadn’t had time to make any of your own or stop by your favorite place. You had been forcing yourself to drink the break room coffee because you desperately needed the caffeine.
You had guzzled nearly a fourth of the cup when you finally opened your eyes, noticing that Frank was staring at you with a mixture of incredulity and entertainment on his face. He shook his head slowly as a deep chuckle sounded in his chest, lifting his own cup to take a sip as a delighted grin threatened to take over the corner of his mouth. A layer of blush instantly coated your cheeks at his reaction.
“What are you laughing at?”
“You.”
“What? Why?”
“Because you’re so fuckin’ easy to please.”
For some reason that made you blush even harder, and your mouth snapped shut as you looked away to find your computer screen suddenly very interesting.
“Eat that damn muffin so we can call a truce.”
As nice as it was having Frank’s company, it was also pretty unnerving. You had to be hyper aware of everything you did knowing that he was watching you, which made you nervous considering you had a lot of weird fucking habits you mostly did subconsciously. Once you had sucked down half your coffee and eaten a good portion of the muffin, you looked over to find Frank already staring at you, arching one of his dark brows in question.
“You good now?”
Capturing your bottom lip between your teeth, you glanced down at your computer screen and nodded, too embarrassed to even look at him. Now that all your anger from earlier had vaporized, you felt bad about the way you had spoken to him. You had no idea what it was like to lose someone close to you like that. You had no knowledge of how something like that could change a person.
Ever since Frank had told you about his wife’s death, you couldn’t stop thinking about it. You wondered how long it had been since he’d lost her, and how. You wondered if he got to say goodbye. You kept thinking about how you weren’t sure if you would have the strength to go on after losing the person you loved most. To try and find another purpose in life, a reason to get out of bed in the morning, any semblance of meaning again.
Frank stood up and came over to sit in the chair directly in front of your desk, setting his coffee cup down on the edge of it. You lifted your gaze to meet his, noting the softer look in his eyes and watching as he nodded in your direction with his chin.
“You wanna tell me what’s goin’ on, now?”
A soft sigh slipped past your lips as you tucked your hair behind your ears, leaning forward to rest your elbows on your desk and hold onto the back of your neck with your hands.
“There was another attack this morning.”
“I heard.”
“Fifteen people were injured. Four of them…they aren’t sure if they’re gonna make it through the night. Three were killed. Ellison doesn’t want me anywhere near it. He told me to stay away, said it was too dangerous.”
“He’s right.”
Frank let out a sigh when you looked at him, leaning forward to rest his elbows on his knees as he glanced around your office.
“The more you antagonize ‘em, the harder they’re gonna come for you.”
“So I don’t get to do my job because they don’t like what I have to say.”
“If it keeps you safe, yeah.”
Letting out a heavy exhale, you sank back into your chair as you crossed your arms over your chest. Frank moved his chair closer to your desk so he could place his arms on it, leaning in closer as he looked at you with sympathy.
“I know it ain’t fair-”
“No, it isn’t. It’s frustrating. This whole thing is so…fucked. They’re hurting and…murdering innocent people, and for what? To terrorize people into agreeing with them? I just…I don’t understand how they haven’t been caught yet. How much longer do they get away with this?”
“They’re not gettin’ away with it.”
“I don’t know, Frank. It seems like they are. No one knows who these people are. There’s no leads, no solid evidence, nothing. And now, I’m not allowed to do my job. I don’t want them to take my silence as compliance, or fear. I don’t want them to think they got to me, and they won. And I realize that is a stupid thing to think right now, but this whole thing just…pisses me off. I just want this shit to be over. I mean, who the fuck just goes around blowing shit up like that?”
“There’s nothin’ in this world I hate as much as a goddamn bomb. Goddamn cowards. They think they’re gonna scare people into doin’ what they want. They’re wrong. It just pisses people off, ya’know, brings ‘em together, makes ‘em stronger. New York doesn’t forget. Whoever this is, they’re in for a world of shit.”
Rubbing your palms tiredly down your face, you let out another frustrated sigh.
“Hey, I know this shit sucks right now. But it ain’t gonna last forever. These fuckers are gonna get what’s comin’ to ‘em. Then you can go back to callin’ people pussies on the radio.”
A tiny smirk curled at the edge of your mouth as you looked across your desk at Frank.
“I wasn’t allowed to use that word.”
“I know. But I also know it’s the one you wanted to use.”
A knowing smirk ghosted over Frank’s lips, and it only made your smile stretch further. You tilted your head to the side as you looked over at him curiously.
“You listened to it?”
“Course. Read your articles too.”
“I didn’t know you were a fan, Frank.”
“Don’t get ahead of yourself, sweetheart. I was debriefed on you and why I was havin’ to follow your trouble makin’ ass around. It was part of my homework.”
“Whatever you say, Castle. Just let me know if you want me to sign something, or you know, a picture.”
Frank rolled his eyes as a chuckle slipped past his lips, leaning back into the chair as he folded his arms behind his head.
“Think I liked you better when you were mad at me.”
»»——— ———««
Frank tugged at the tie around his neck with a grunt, staring up at the looming courthouse in complete disdain.
“Don’t see why I gotta get all dressed up for this shit.”
“Frank, you’re wearing jeans. I’d hardly say you’re dressed up.”
“You said I gotta wear a tie.”
“Because there’s a dress code.”
“I don’t work here. The hell that gotta do with me?”
“Because I’m the press, and you’re with me.”
Frank let out another irritated grunt as he followed close behind you up the numerous sets of steps.
“I tell you lately I really don’t like your fuckin’ job?”
A loud laugh slipped past your lips at the annoyed look on Frank’s face, placing your hand on his shoulder when he opened the door for you.
“Sorry Castle, but since you and Ellison both seem to agree that I can’t do my normal job, I’m being forced to take the ones I’m given, which apparently includes interviewing politicians.”
Frank stared down at you in contempt as he rolled his eyes, motioning for you to go inside.
“Fuckin’ hate politics.”
Giving his shoulder a gentle squeeze, you flashed him a grin.
“You and me both. I’ll try to make this as quick as humanly possible.”
As the elevator brought you and Frank up to the fourth floor, you took a moment to gloss over the interview questions Ellison had sent you. It was a last minute favor to him since the journalist originally doing this piece had called out sick, and you hadn’t had a chance to prep like you normally do.
“Who is it?”
“I’m not sure, one of the candidates running for District Attorney. I don’t normally cover this stuff.”
The elevator doors parted with a ding, and Frank followed close behind you as you made your way over towards the receptionist’s desk. There was an older redheaded woman at the desk in the center of the lobby that greeted you with a smile.
“Hi there. How can I help you?”
“Hi, my name is Y/N Y/L/N. I’m here for a meeting with a-”
Glancing down at the paper in your hand, your eyes searched for the name of who you were interviewing, when suddenly a familiar voice rang in your ears.
“Well well well, if it isn’t the prettiest girl in all of New York.”
As you turned your head in the direction of the voice, you instantly stilled, and your eyes nearly doubled in size.
“Steven?”
“Hey beautiful.”
“What…what are you doing here?”
“Waiting for you.”
“What?”
Flashing you a grin he thought came off as charming, Steven motioned towards the paper in your hand with his finger as he walked over towards you.
“You’re interviewing me.”
Blinking a few times in dumbfoundment, your lips parted in almost shock as you stared down at the paper in your hands.
District Attorney Candidate: Steven Price.
No fucking way. There was no fucking way this was happening right now.
Twisting your face up in confusion, you cocked your head to the side as you stared at him in complete disbelief.
“Wait, you’re running for District Attorney?”
“You sound surprised.”
“Considering you would have a wrap sheet the length of my arm if your father wasn’t who he was, yeah. I am.”
Slipping his hands into his pockets, Steven’s lips parted into a wide grin as he let his eyes shamelessly wander over your body.
“Aww, you remember. That’s cute. C’mon, we can keep reminiscing in my office.”
Steven’s smile fell immediately when his gaze finally landed on Frank, as if he suddenly noticed his presence. How the hell he managed to miss the walking brick wall behind you that was Frank Castle, you weren’t sure, but Steven was nothing if not self-involved.
“You can wait out here.”
“The hell I can.”
Frank’s voice was rougher than usual when it came out, and you didn’t miss the way it made the Adam's apple in Steven’s throat bob. You fought the smirk that threatened to curl at the edge of your mouth as you took a step closer towards Frank and gently rested your hand on his arm.
“This is Frank. He’s with me.”
Steven’s blue eyes darted back and forth between yours and Frank’s, standing up a little straighter as he squared his shoulders in an attempt to make himself look bigger.
“Does he have to be?”
“I go where she goes.”
As he looked at you for confirmation, you lightly shrugged your shoulders in Steven’s direction with a playful smile.
“I wouldn’t bother arguing with him.”
Flashing Frank a look of complete dissatisfaction, Steven quickly tried to recompose himself as he plastered a tight lipped smile on his mouth.
“Alright then. This way.”
Interviewing your ex-boyfriend from college was certainly not on your agenda for today, and you were already rehearsing all of the creative ways you were going to cuss out Ellison when you got back to your office. Frank stood stoically by the door, hand over his wrist, with his intimidating gaze focused solely on Steven.
“So, how you been? You look great by the way. Better than great, actually. Somehow you’ve gotten even prettier.”
Backhanded compliments. Classic Steven Price.
Clearing your throat, you pulled out your notebook and a pen from your bag, keeping your eyes on the interview guide that Ellison had given you. Unlocking your phone, you searched for your voice notes app.
“You mind if I record this?”
“You can do whatever the hell you want with me princess, you know that.”
Glancing up briefly to meet his eyes, you were met with a cocky smirk that you were all too familiar with. You always hated when he called you that, and you were certain you told him that every time he had. Completely ignoring his question, you pressed record and set your phone on his desk.
“Mr. Price-”
“Babe, c’mon. That sounds so formal. You know me. You can call me Steven.”
You wanted to gag at the way he made it sound like a privilege to use his first name.
“Alright, Steven. What made you want to run for District Attorney?”
“Seemed like a great gig.”
“That…that’s it?”
Steven pursed his lips as he gave a light shrug, crossing his fingers together as he laid his hands on his chest and aimlessly swiveled his chair from left to right.
“Um…okay. What do you feel is most important-”
“You been to that place in uptown? New one that just opened?”
“What?”
“It’s a high end sushi place. You know, your favorite. Anyway, I own it-”
Narrowing your eyes slightly, you pursed your lips and gave a light shake of your head.
“That was your favorite, actually.”
A huge grin broke out across Steven’s face as he sank his top teeth into his bottom lip.
“You remember.”
“I was very good at remembering things, Steven. Can we focus?”
“We should go.”
“Go where?”
“To my restaurant.”
“I hate sushi.”
“No you don’t, we used to go all the time.”
“Because you wanted to go all the time. Can we please get back to the interview?”
Letting out an exasperated sigh, you willed your eyes to focus on the next question while tucking your hair behind your ears.
“What has been the greatest reward of running your campaign?”
“Getting to see you again.”
Slamming your notebook shut, you pressed the button on your phone to stop recording and stared over at him sharply.
“Are you going to answer any of these questions seriously? This article is about you and you’re giving me nothing to work with.”
Steven rolled his eyes as he sat up straighter, leaning his elbows on his desk as he looked over at you with another ingenuine smirk.
“Why don’t we discuss them over dinner?”
“Why don’t you answer them now so I can do my job? I have a deadline.”
“Tell you what, I’ll have my assistant email those answers over by the end of the day, and I’ll send a car for you Friday. Where do you live now?”
You couldn’t help but gawk at the audacity flowing from his privileged mouth.
“Are you fucking with me right now?”
“Of course not. I’ll come pick you up Friday, alone, and we can catch up.”
Steven glared over in Frank’s direction as he emphasized the word ‘alone’, and before you could respond, Frank’s hardened voice boomed throughout the office.
“Yeah, that ain’t happenin’.”
Frank had been so quiet, you almost forgot that he was there. You were suddenly nervous to turn around and see what his face looked like. Steven glowered over at him, clearly feeling emboldened behind the “safety” of his fancy desk.
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t talking to you…John, was it? You know this really isn’t necessary, you being here. I’d actually prefer it if you waited outside.”
“And I’d prefer if you answered her fuckin’ questions so we could be on our way.”
Steven chuckled humorlessly as he ran a hand through his neatly cropped blonde hair, looking over at you while gesturing towards Frank.
“Who is this guy? A little old for an intern, isn’t he?”
“He’s my bodyguard, and his name is Frank.”
Steven stared at you silently for a moment before his eyes trailed over to Frank, the confidence in them dissipating slowly. It seemed like he was really looking at Frank for the first time, like he was finally paying attention to him since the first encounter in the lobby, and you noticed the way he visibly tensed when his eyes wandered over his large form.
“What do you need a bodyguard for?”
“Pissed some people off I shouldn’t have.”
“Yeah, well…you were always good at that.”
“The fuck is that s’posed to mean?”
Steven rolled his eyes as an irritated expression took over his features, pointing his finger towards the door.
“Could you just wait outside, man? She’s safe with me, alright.”
“That ain’t for you to decide.”
“Oh? And who needs to sign my permission slip?”
You heard the thunder of Frank’s boots crossing the short distance on the floor, and you instantly reached out to grab onto his wrist once he reached you to halt his angry movements. Steven scrambled all the way back in his chair, pushing away from his desk as he stared up at Frank with wide eyes.
“Frank-”
“Me. And as far as I can tell, your candyass would be fuckin’ worthless if it came down to it. Pretty sure if I came behind that fuckin’ desk right now, the only goddamn thing you would know how to do is call daddy for help, yeah?”
Rising up from your chair, you gripped onto Frank’s wrist a little tighter and moved to stand in front of him to put some distance between him and Steven. You placed your palm flat against his broad chest to capture his attention, momentarily stunned by the anger that was burning in his eyes once they snapped down to you. As your lips parted slightly, you pleaded with your eyes for him to calm down as you whispered quietly.
“Easy, big guy. He’s not worth the trouble. He’s just being a dick, alright?”
Frank clenched his jaw as he looked over your head at Steven, his nostrils flaring slightly as he gave him an unimpressed once over.
“Asshole’s gonna be eatin’ out of a fuckin’ straw the next couple months if he don’t cut the shit.”
Sinking your teeth down into your bottom lip to stifle the giggles that threatened to slip, you gave a slight nod of your head.
“If he acts up again, you have my full permission. But for now, please don’t mangle him. We are in a courthouse.”
Frank glanced down at you, his dark eyes slightly softer as he grunted lowly, giving Steven one more angry glare before he let out a heavy exhale and took four steps back to stand directly behind your chair. It took every ounce of self control not to smirk as you turned around to face Steven, gesturing to him with the paper in your hand containing the interview questions.
“Look, I think we should just call it a day. I’m not even supposed to be writing this article. I’ll tell my boss you couldn’t make it, and the guy that was supposed to be writing this can deal with you.”
Steven suddenly shot up as you reached for your bag and held his hand out.
“Wait, no. Don’t…c’mon, don’t go. I don’t want someone else writing it. I want you to. You actually know me, you can make me look good-”
“That’s not what I’m here to do, Steven. I came here to ask questions and get answers, and write an article based on those answers. How the article reflects you is solely up to you.”
Steven let out a displeased sigh as he settled his hands on his hips, lightly nodding his head in your direction.
“Alright. Alright, no more bullshit.”
Steven refused to look at Frank as he sat back down, his cerulean eyes nervously watching you as he flashed you a timid smile. Letting out a heavy sigh, you slowly sat back down and started recording again, clicking the top of your pen as you looked at him.
“Why do you really want to be District Attorney?”
“It’s the next step in my career.”
“And what makes you think you’ll be good at it?”
“I come from a long line of successful politicians that made it their life’s work to give back to the city and make it a better place.”
“That’s not what I asked. What makes you think you will be good at it?”
“Well clearly you haven’t done your homework, or you’d know I’m a pretty damn good attorney. Never lost a case.”
Steven’s wink simultaneously made you nauseous and also lit a fire within you. Cocking your head to the side lightly, you narrowed your eyes and smacked your lips together.
“I got handed this piece this morning, so no, I didn’t have time to prep. You still haven’t answered my question.”
“I don’t understand?”
“Of course you don’t. Okay um…what’s the most important issue to you? What’s the priority for your campaign?”
“Vigilantes.”
Your eyes immediately flew up from the paper at that word, and you found yourself sitting up a little straighter as you stared over at him.
“What about them?”
“Well, they’re a problem. I mean…isn’t that why you need him?”
Steven chuckled lightly as he looked up at Frank, abruptly switching his attention back to you as he clamped his mouth shut.
“No. I need Frank because a bunch of cowards think they’re making a difference by blowing up New York, and I told them how I really felt about them.”
Steven rolled his eyes as he leaned back in his chair, chuckling with a shake of his head.
“That’s because you always have to be difficult. Always have to have the last word. You can’t ever let anything go, Y/N. It’s always a fight with you. You know, people would respect you more and like you more if you weren’t always so combative. You know if you were…softer…not so loud-”
“You keep runnin’ your goddamn mouth like that, I’m really gonna enjoy puttin’ my foot up your ass. Watch how you fuckin’ talk to her.”
Dismissing Frank with a wave of your hand behind you, an incredulous scoff left your mouth as you stared at Steven with narrowed eyes.
“So you think it’s okay for a group of terrorists to threaten me because I hurt their feelings?”
“What? No, of course not. I just…I mean you kinda brought it on yourself. Look, these guys, these…’Defenders of Freedom’, they’re a problem, and one I personally plan to take care of as DA. Especially if you’re involved. But vigilantes are a bigger problem.”
A look of complete incredulity covered your features as you scoffed, digging your nails so hard into your palm, you thought you might bleed.
“How are vigilantes a bigger problem than terrorists-”
“Because they think they’re above the law.”
“And these people don’t? At least vigilantes are actually trying to help people. The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen put Wilson Fisk away, and brought down a lot of corrupt cops and politicians, some of which worked for your father, I might add. Jessica Jones brought down not one, but two powered killers. Luke Cage saved Harlem-”
“What about the Punisher?”
Out of the corner of your eye, you swore you saw Frank stiffen, but you were so enraged you couldn’t hardly think straight. You dug further crescent shaped indentations into your palm, sitting up even straighter as you tilted your chin up in a sign of defiance.
“What about him?”
“That psycho killed over 60 people, that we know of. He turned New York into a fucking war zone, Y/N.”
“He wiped out three of the most dangerous gangs in the city. As far as some officers were concerned, he did them a favor.”
“He shot up a hospital-”
“No one got hurt-”
“You aren’t seriously defending that lunatic. A killer is a killer, Y/N. He thought he was doing the city a favor, just like these guys are. Anyone can decide that they’re the good guy that knows what’s best. That’s the problem with vigilantes. There is a reason we have a justice system-”
“You of all people know how easily that justice gets manipulated.”
Steven set his lips in a firm line as he stared at you, eyeing you silently before shaking his head adamantly.
“There is a system, I never said it was perfect, but we have laws in place, and people to uphold them. Daredevil goes around beating the shit out of people and committing felonies every night and calls it justice. Jessica Jones has committed murder more than once, and it was excused as justice. Luke Cage is an ex-convict that notoriously assaults police officers, and calls it justice. You see the pattern here?”
Clenching your fists tightly, you tried to contain how they trembled with rage.
“I think we’re done here. Thank you for your time, Mr. Price.”
Turning off the recording, you vexingly shoved everything into your bag, abruptly standing up to pull it over your shoulder. Steven shot up from his chair to rush over towards you.
“Y/N-”
Frank swiftly placed his body between yours and Steven’s, completely blocking your view of him.
“You take one step closer, I’m gonna make good on my promise.”
An exhausted sigh slipped past your lips as you lightly grasped at the back of Frank’s shirt.
“Come on, let’s go.”
Another sigh fell from your mouth when he didn’t budge, and you tugged at his shirt harder.
“Let’s go, Frank.”
The second the elevator doors shut, Frank turned to face you, arching one of his dark brows in question as he gave you a pointed look. You rolled your eyes and leaned your head against the wall with a quiet groan.
“Don’t start.”
“How the hell do you know that asshole?”
“I said don’t start.”
“That’s too damn bad. I need to know.”
“Why?”
“Because it’s my goddamn job, that’s why.”
Rubbing at your temples as you closed your eyes, you practically sprinted out of the elevator once the doors opened.
“Your job is to protect me, Frank. Not to be in my business.”
“Sorry to break it to ya, sweetheart, but your business is my business now. I gotta know who you’re gonna be around so I can-”
“I’m not gonna be around him. I had to interview him to cover someone’s article. That’s it. This is a one time thing-”
“He asked you on a date.”
“So?”
Frank grabbed your wrist to stop you from rushing down the steps, and the force nearly pulled you directly back into his chest. You tilted your head back to look up at him in puzzlement.
“You goin’?”
“What?”
“With him, on a date.”
“Are you seriously asking me that-”
“Yes I’m fuckin’ serious. I gotta know who you’re around. We need to know who to keep tabs on. Anyone could try to-”
“He’s my ex-boyfriend from college, Frank. He’s not a threat. And no, I’m not going on a date with him. Happy?”
Frank’s jaw immediately tensed, and his eyes narrowed as he stared down at you in very clear disappointment. Letting out a dry scoff, he shook his head in disbelief before looking down at you again with an emotion in his eyes that almost looked like disgust.
“The hell did you see in him?”
You had always known that Steven was a shitty boyfriend. That was never something you questioned. But sometimes you forgot just how shitty he was towards you. As you stared up into Frank’s deep brown eyes, Steven’s words echoed around in your head, and it made your heart sink with dejection.
You always have to be difficult.
You brought this on yourself.
People would respect you more if you weren’t always so combative.
People would like you more if you were softer, not so loud.
Steven never supported you. He never took the time to read something you wrote, even when you begged. He spoke over you when you were talking, constantly dismissed your feelings, and made it his personal mission to make you feel small. He never wanted you to shine brighter than him. He never wanted you to disagree with him. He tried to fit you into a locket of his liking and wear you around his neck like a prize. He never loved you. He loved the idea of you he had crafted in his head. And when you shattered that illusion, he despised you and tore you down with his words.
Frank would never treat you that way.
Frank never once made a negative comment about why he ended up being your protection. Hell, even Billy hadn’t. Ellison had encouraged you to write the article. He gave the approval.
Frank read your work. Frank listened to your interview. Frank came to your defense every single time.
He treated you better than anyone ever had. Even when you were in the wrong, and you antagonized him, he was still so gentle with you in his own way. He remembered little things about you. He apologized when he raised his voice or lost his temper. He offered comfort when you needed it. He listened to you.
And now as he stood in front of you, you couldn’t answer him.
“I…I don’t know.”
Frank’s face all of a sudden softened at the somber tone of your voice and the downcast look in your eyes. For a moment, the two of you stood there on the steps, silently staring into each other’s eyes.
Clearing his throat, Frank looked away and nodded with his head in an aimless direction.
“We uh…should get goin’.”
Glancing down at your feet, you closed your eyes for a moment as you tried to compose yourself, giving a slight nod of your head as you turned around to descend the steps.
“Yeah, we should.”

You shut the door before he can answer, huffing out a deep breath you didn’t know you were holding in, and lean against it. What a long fucking night. Padding into the bathroom, you remove your makeup and sigh into your towel. You stare at yourself in the mirror and bite back tears.
Shaking your head, you will yourself not to cry - refusing to shed tears for him. You walk out of the bathroom and into the kitchen, grabbing a glass from one of the cabinets. Opening the fridge, you reach for the open bottle of wine. Sighing, as you’re reminded of Javi, having shared the bottle with him after a hookup a few days ago.
You fill your glass to the brim and chug half of it, slamming down the glass on the countertop. You drag your feet towards the living room, plopping down on the couch. Your head hangs in your hands as you curl into a ball.
“Javi!” You perk up at the sound of a woman calling his name. Rising from the couch, you press your ear against the thin wall that separates yours and Javi’s apartments. “Sí, Javi, sí!” Your brain is short-circuiting as you hear her moan Javi’s name. You can’t help but let your jaw fall open, shocked that he’d be so bold to rub this in your face. Tears of anger and heartache well in your eyes. You attempt to storm off until you hear your name.
A man screaming your name - Javi screaming your name. Everything goes silent. Your ears are ringing and your body is hot, flooding with emotions as your head spins. There’s no way any of this is happening.
Suddenly, you hear shuffling and shouting from outside. Running to peer out of the small peephole at the top of your front door, your jaw drops again at the scene playing out in front of you. Cassandra, the woman from earlier in the night, is fixing her clothes while screaming at a shirtless Javi in the hallway.
