FF15 x Pokemon Headcanons

Had the thought of how the female (teenage!) Pokemon trainer from Sun & Moon would react to meeting the Bros. As if one day they ended up in the Pokemon verse. So I came up with a headcanon of what they would like for Pokemon and how they would react. Plus how they would be as trainers and gym leaders!

Noctis:

How he reacts to the trainer: When he stumbled across the young woman just a little bit younger than he is, he is taken back by her bright outfit. She is dressed unlike any others he’s seen upon looking around he sees that he’s not in EOS any longer, everything looks different.

Favorite Pokemon: Litten the little fire cat caught his attention the second he saw one.

As a Trainer: Noctis doesn’t go out of his way to pick battles, he only wants to battle unless it’s absolutely necessary. Noctis always battles fairly though if it gets above his head he will whip out the big guns and use the most powerful moves.

Gym Leader: He’s a fire and fairy type leader. He’s a gracious loser there is a little pout about him but it’s charming. He will always offer to heal up your Pokemon for you after the battle if you don’t gloat.

Prompto:

How he reacts to the trainer: At first when he sees the young woman he is worried as he hasn’t realized he’s not in EOS still. What would happen if a Anak or a Tonberry started to attack this young woman? He goes over to see if she’s okay only to realize she’s carrying a black and red cat.

Favorite Pokemon: Rowlet!

As a Trainer: Prompto is in it to take pictures of all the Pokemon. He enjoys taking all the photos he can and posting them everywhere so people can enjoy it. Even the most out of control Pokemon become shutterbugs around him. He sometimes he wanders up to people and not notices they are challenging him to a fight. But he always can bring his A-game to the battle and is a good team player.

Gym Leader: He’s a plant and flying type though with a soft spot for some fairy types. He likes to take photos during the battles, selfies with his Pokemon after they do a special move. He always makes sure to give the winner or loser a commemorative photo afterwards.

Gladiolus:

How he reacts to the trainer: He goes to stand in front of Noctis, ever the King’s Shield. He eyes the strange creatures she’s holding, curious on what manner of creatures hang around her.

Favorite Pokemon: Arcanine

As a Trainer: Gladiolus is always ready to do a battle with someone he’s a proud trainer but he’s always a fair loser or winner. Gladiolus will always give out tips afterwards and he is always on top of keeping his Pokemon on the tiptop health.

Gym Leader: He’s a fire, fighting and sometimes rock type. He uses a lot of shield like moves and buffs when things are getting tough and Gladiolus needs to think. He’s use to being on top so if things over set him Gladiolus will guard and regroup and think of a good tactic to win. If he looses he pouts a bit but he does congratulate them and offers tips.

Ignis:

How he reacts to the trainer: Ignis surveys her over and realizes that he’s in a foreign country and this is one of the islands natives. He tries to speak with her first to put the best foot forward, he doesn’t want to leave a bad impression on this young woman.

Favorite Pokemon: Alakazam

As a Trainer: Ignis has all the required equipment a trainer needs and even ones that most people don’t get, plenty of escape ropes and paralyze heals. Ignis is fair and only battles trainers similar level to him, he feels it’s rude going against someone weaker than him and he’s smart enough not to go against someone stronger than he is.

Gym Leader: He’s a physic type for sure though he is also fond of water types. He’s calm and quiet when they battle which makes some people nervous as he hardly says a word to his Pokemon or his opponent. He’s a gracious winner and loser, he always offers to feed the Pokemon of his opponent.

I find it hilarious how people are calling Kingdom Heartd elitist for saying you should play the other games to understanding the ongoing story, considering THEY'RE the ones who are demanding the devs cater to their lazy asses who can't be assed to look up a wiki or even the vids THE DEVS HAVE MADE TO HELP PEOPLE CATCH UP WITH THE STORY. Especially if you're going to review the game, to do otherwise is unprofessional and dishonest.

If you wanna play the game just for playing it, then there really isn’t a need to play the previous games because you aren’t that invested in the story/plot beyond playing the game. If you just wanna have fun playing the game and not understanding certain events or characters interactions does not bother you or ruin the experience for you then sure skip playing the previous games and play in whatever order you want. 

If not understanding the story, certain events, character interactions, etc. bother you and ruin the experience then just play the previous games. Most people won’t even say to play all of the games, especially in a series like Kingdom Hearts where it took forever just to get to three. They’ll just give you the significant ones to do and in what order. Alternatively, if you just cannot get ahold of the previous games despite emulation being a thing, the games being in bundles and re-released for like 40 bucks (for two to three games which are actually a pretty good deal), etc. for whatever reason, then just watch a lets play or read on a wiki page what’s going on / a synopsis/plot of the previous games. It’s free. Completely free

People are complaining about just not understanding the story or plot holes, etc. when they were things that were covered in previous games because the developers didn’t shove two games worth of lore into one game. It’s like reading the third book of a franchise and then getting mad that you don’t know what’s going on and blaming the author for not re-covering it again.

 It’s a general expectation that you will have played previous games when a game is pretty plot heavy. Game franchises like Final Fantasy get away with not requiring previous games to be played because many of the games are branches of stories that take place in the same universe, however, some games are more sequels to each other than others (Such as the FF13 game trilogy vs FF15 Boy Band edition) same goes for Pokemon because each game (RBG, X/Y, B/W etc.) is its own stand-alone story or fighting games like Street Fighter, Tekken, Soul Calibur, etc. because they typically have more character-oriented stories and most people aren’t playing for the storyline anyway. 

If you’re a reviewer and are only playing to see if the game is good for a newcomer to get into the franchise with, then disclose that and that you haven’t played the previous games. It creates transparency, less bias, and whether or not certain issues with the game (not understanding certain interactions, etc.) can be solved with just playing the previous games or if its a genuine flaw with the game. It isn’t elitism to get mad or be upset with people who think that the third game in an installation should completely recover from the beginning and in detail the events of the first and second.

And that’s a very good question. I myself can’t really project myself this far, I don’t know what can happen.

Honestly I may have been two fingers away from coming back to ff7 if an info dropped (and we’re not safe of anything yet, i’ve been kinda itching to play it again ever since yesterday) - but hey i’m never safe from suddenly coming back to previous any fandom

As it is the biggest “threats” i can think of are Mass Effect since i’ll play it eventually (and i know myself too well - the moment i said “it’s not exactly my kind of story” i’ve doomed myself all my long lasting obsession started with just pushing it away because “eh idk i don’t feel it for now”. That’s the reason it took me actual years to start hxh or da after deciding i will start them. Actual. Years. Genuis Icha.) and eventually bnha since i still hadn’t picked it back up and it’s likely the next arcs will get me more involved than where I left of.

Then anything can drop anytime. Who knows maybe i’ll finally get to play the final fantasy games I have in my wishlist? (mainly ff13, ff8, ff10 and ff15) or better, those i have on my computer?  (im so sorry ff9 i will play u one day). Or hell, actually getting into KH more than I do yet? (because i do have some of the games it’s just that I can’t play the ps2′s KH1 bc of my parents, and i’ve been pushing off finishing days (because yes i played 3/4 of days without having played any other KH before i’m a genuis) and then aybe start bbs or ddd, which i own.). Or the Zelda’s games that, again, I own but have been pushing off playing because I was too lazy? or even some random FF games i don’t care about but own because i found them at 2€ each in occasion shops? (which btw is also the reason why i have those KH games i mentioned, i’m reasonable) Or actually finishing my current Pokemon X game?)

And knowing all of that, would an obsession kick in for any of those medias i’ve been pushing off and refusing to play for so long? 

I’ve been planning for years now to actually re-read some Clamp’s manga (mainly Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, xxxHolic and Card Captor Sakura) but i’ve been lazy about reading anything. I used to be obsessed with those so if i try them again the obsession may kick in again.

I still need to read/watch YYH. (ten bucks i’ll be obsessed over Kurama I know myself too well. or Hiei. Likely both.). I should definitly maybe check what the hell happened in Haikyuu since i dropped it. 

And I have sooo many things i told myself i’ll need to read/watch eventually (mp100, one punch man, aggretsuko, violet evergarden, and others i forget about) - but do I watch them? Nooo i rewatch the same episodes of b99 over and over again.

And that’s not even counting things that i don’t know about yet that may fall on me randomly out of the blue and makes me go “yknow what I wanna try it” and suddenly take over my life.

Life is full of surprise that way. I’m sure my new obsession will be a surprise worthy of making everyone groans because “seriously Icha? seriously?”. 

the ultimate irony would be that the next obsession will be absolutly none of those things and will be something I’ve never mentioned before and it will suddenly take over my life. This is regularly how my obsession starts.

So I guess it’s all the bets for the next one. Will it be DGM while kicking back with its new chapter? or another story that will just suddenly bring me back into feeling for it again? or one of the story i’ve been planning to read/watch/play but didn’t find the time? Or something Completely New?
