Can someone please either validate me or send me to the Corner of Shame? This is very silly but I'm wondering.

So. I was talking to my sister the other day about movies and such, and she told me of one she recently watched with this one actor. And I casually mentioned how much I hated him. Not in a "he's a bad actor" or "he's a bad person" way. Nothing to do with whether I find him attractive or not. Just in a "he looks the most punchable guy on earth and I have this irrational rage against him" way, to the point that I just can't watch movies with him without being annoyed.

My sister looked at me like I was crazy because, "what do you mean you hate the guy". And I told her yeah? That's normal? Don't you have at least one person you can't stand for no reason?

Sister was like 😬😬😬 No??? Which is wild to me, because I could easily name 50 (which I did - not 50 but we were getting close to 20 before i got too annoyed lmao).

Now she thinks I'm slightly insane (/j) (I made myself angry and may have referred to a few individuals as "stupid" and "obnoxious"), and I kinda don't believe I am the only person alive who feels this way. But also she's an incredibly empathetic extrovert, while I'm a very low empath socially anxious creechur so. There's that?? I guess ?? Idk.

Can anyone relate to this? Or am I the weird one?

Also wait. Little disclaimer: I am not generally a violent person AT ALL. Do i get annoyed and angry easily? Yeah. Do I feel like bitch slapping someone right across their stupid face? Yeah, sometimes, sure. Do I do something about it? Not really.

I can be real bitchy and extra sarcastic and petty SURE, but that's the most I'll do if I am legitimately angry. Mostly I just go to my room and cry 🥺 (crying when angry yes it me). So yeah. Before yall think I have unsolved anger issues.

#if you're curious. the guy in question is Thimothée Chalamet #look. from what i've seen he's good at his job and he seems a genuinely nice guy #nothing against him at all like. you go timmy 🙂👍#i do however have an illogical boiling rage against him #i don't know what it is but i genuinely feel like punching his face everytime he pops up #maybe in another universe we were arch enemies. maybe i was his school bully. maybe HE was my school bully idk #obviously i would never do anything like that but if there's one person that looks like it could use a wedgie is him #and don't get me wrong. i DO feel about about it cus it's not like i'm choosing to be irrationally angry #and this goes for a bunch of other people #i just!!! 😡😡😡#seeing him (as in his vibe and general presence. nothing to do with physical appearance)#is the equivalent of trying to use cling film while it keeps sticking to itself #you know that one family guy scene with Peter and the cling wrap?? YEAH. THAT. genuinely so annoyed #i've always assumed this was a common thing. as in. there's always at least one person that gets on your nerves for absolutely no reason #but i guess maybe not???? *am* i a hater???#and btw this ONLY happens with either celebrities (in various degrees)#or people irl i've had some close proximity to <- and in this case it's always justified. i don't generally hate irl people out of nowhere #(okay there is ONE person in specific BUT i do feel slightly justified IMO. and in any case i always make sure to be as nice as possible)#(because poor girl didn't really do nothing wrong. i just have never vibed with her. i tried!! but yeah)#idk where i'm going with this lmao i might just ending up deleting it #whatever. don't worry guys you're all safe i love you very much and wouldn't slap any of you (unless asked you little freaks 👀)#darya talks to herself

tennis looks so fucking boring im sorry. cannot get on board with a sports event where there is no telling if it will end in one hour or five. and not only is there no telling but its also the most boring game to watch ever. so like you can rest assured that what you will be watching is just a ball travelling back and forth across a net but what you dont know is whether it will finish in time for you to get home for dinner or maybe your mother's birthday which is two and half weeks away

i don’t mean this to sound homophobic or whatever but some queer people literally cannot conceptualize that they actively look down on things they consider “basic” or “straight” with an insane level of contempt no matter how much they say they support everyone and everything. like. if i tell you i love riverdale because it’s campy and fun and you give me that look of disgust because you perceive riverdale as some basic lame straight people show. that’s not very like. nice. and then you refuse to hear me out in my show’s defense… and you just wave me off with a “whatever like whatever you like” but you’re still looking at me like i’ve just ordered a pumpkin spice latte while wearing ugg boots and listening to taylor swift. like at a certain point when will you admit you’re not actually very nice about people’s interests that don’t align with yours.

#i wantttttt to like the beetlejuice sequel (just saw the trailer) and i don't want to be a hater. however #i dont knowwwww i mean theres a lot of callbacks to the original. which is good. its just #maybe its seeing some of these same effects done in cgi. or something #like it just looks like every other modern movie except w some of that beetlejuice imagery #im assuming the sandworms are cgi. bring back the claymationnnn bring back practical effectssss #idk im just really getting to hate the way movies nowadays look that are likely shot digitally and are just so subdued color wise #is any of this making sense.#like thinking of the original beetlejuice like whoa the colors were popping! greens reds purples!#and theyre so important and tied to the look of the movie and how it sticks in your mind #(im sorry. beetlejuice has always been one of my favorite movies. but anyway)#and now the sequel just looks ehhhh. you know #also we still should have had beetlejuice goes hawaiian instead. if we had to have a sequel #plus the story of the sequel seems so dependent on the story of the first movie like is there going to be anything original?#what made the first movie so good was not only was it a fun different storyline of these ghosts and everything #but it was also a good satire of the yuppies of that era as well as the idea of the afterlife and ghosts and all that. which was different!#im probably not making all of my points clearly and this doesnt really matter anyway but anyway #i need movies to be standalone movies. i dont want everything to be part of a series #i dont want beetlejuice to be called beetlejuice 1 #bc then ill be saying 'back in my day we had only one beetlejuice'#LIKE. yes some movies are really good and you could watch a whole tv show more with the characters in that movie #but it doesnt actually have to be made. thats for you to imagine in your mind #like wow i love those characters in beetlejuice. i wonder what it would be like going forward for these people to live with ghosts #but thats for you and your imagination!!!! ugh i dont know is any of this making sense i ask again. i keep trying to wrap up this post #but im very passionate about films and as i think about my own main movie idea/screenplay #i love my characters and i could put them in dozens of scenarios that would be very funny for them to deal with #but i dont think they need a five film series. the one movie is enough for the main storyline #ok im going to eat something. enough bitching from me about the current state of film

I love Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979)! I love the story (especially Spock’s arc). I love the spaceship porn (especially THAT scene). I love the V’ger psychedelia (especially when I’m stoned!). I’m sure an unbiased viewer would consider this film merely average among its contemporaries… but I’m a Trekkie, so I don’t care! 😁

Hey Sophie, I've never seen a Wes Anderson movie! Any suggestions on what to start with?

Hey! Oooo, yeah, I think I'd say to start either with Fantastic Mr. Fox or The Royal Tenenbaums?

The latter was my entry point to Wes Anderson and is definitely the one of his I've rewatched the most. The cast is amazing, but I think it encapsulates a lot of what I love about his work at its purest which is stylisation and comedy for the sake of emphasising genuinely human moments, and emotional truths that just rip a hole in you. If I was to ever make a list of my top fifty movies, I think The Royal Tenanbaums would be on it (Ben Stiller's line deliver of I've had a rough year, dad is genuinely iconic to me).

Fantastic Mr. Fox I think though is just both good and pretty accessible? His style of writing/direction/filmmaking lends itself well to stop motion, and he's a bit of a dream match for Roald Dahl adaptations tbh. It's a great movie and a great story anyway, and particularly if you feel inclined / know you like animation, I think Fantastic Mr. Fox is a very good place to start.

#i do genuinely love wes anderson's films overall but i don't love all his work which is okay!#my most controversial opinion is i don't like moonrise kingdom #and i don't reaaaally like life aquatic either #funnily enough i took my mum #a Known Wes Anderson Hater #haha #to asteroid city this week and she (and i) loved it a lot #she was like hmmm maybe you can reintroduce me to wes anderson movies as we were leaving the cinema hahaha #she's only ever otherwise seen life aquatic and darjeeling limited and LOOK #i do get why you wouldn't like him if those were your only exposure to him #he can sometimes lean a bit style over substance #because his work IS so highly stylised #but it's why when he strikes the right balance his stuff just sings y'know?#film asks #welcome to my ama #i also had a couple of weeks off but am now BACK to seeing movies every tuesday at the cinema and it's genuinely the best

AAAHHHHHH!!!!!!

I watched The Mario Movie! I. Loved. It! *No spoilers* Slightly rant-y against fans because I am not a big critic, I just like to enjoy films.

From other reviews I believe people have set unrealistic expectations so have been let down. Is it a perfect film? No. Is it a decent film for what it’s meant to be? Absolutely!

The animation was very pleasing (not a professional opinion) and the voice acting wasn’t as bad as we all expected (Specifically Crisp Rat, everyone else was very good). I found the jokes funny and was pleasantly surprised by the ending. I did find it quite fast paced but I understand it’s because of the limitations of a movie’s run time (it’s a kid’s film too so has to be something a CHILD will sit through).

People seem to be forgetting that it’s for all ages. I was in the cinema surrounded by young children and even infants. I could hear them getting excited the whole time and the fast pace wouldn’t have done that for them. It’s for them too. I loved it. I loved the atmosphere in there with a little boy joyfully cheering for Peach for just being on screen. I loved the little giggles at the jokes. It is NOT meant to a film filled with your head canons or ships or unreasonable expectations.

Tbh I hate superheroes. For me it was always some American gimmick that they paraded around. Like they would say that some foreign media is cringey or embarrassing and then go and film billion movies with men in tights flying around. I can never like it tbh

listen I like bsd but I'm not joking when I say we need a beach episode. the stakes have been too high for too long. if you don't bring the tensions down every now n then, your audience will stop feeling immersed. sure the plots interesting but it's like link click, when every episode ends with a cliffhanger it gets predictable. you've run out of ways to make it interesting so you keep adding plot twists to the last page in the hopes that we'll scramble to buy the next volume, but you've done that already. it's not fun anymore. I'm only sticking around cus that sword guy is hot

#he wrote himself into a corner. instead of letting the tensions settle we've started a whole new giant story arc #it's just boring. it's like a slasher film but the killer is always on screen killing people and we never get a break. not interesting!#if you like it then I love that for you. I'm genuinely happy you can find joy in something I can't #I'm just not a fan of the pacing atm #also once again I'm just being a hater rn I do love this franchise

casting bill skarsgard as "hot nosferatu" is ??????? because dracula's whole thing is that he's supposed to be a sexy older man. bill is too little. but if they're just trying to copy nosferatu and not dracula as a whole, how are they gonna make him not an antisemitic caricature. mr eggers I have questions and concerns

what people who aren't haters fail to understand about my culture is that, yes, it is sometimes exhausting being critical of everything all the time, being unable to participate in silly turn-off-your-brain summer blockbuster fun, being a tiresome cunt at parties etc. however, this is counterbalanced by the fact that the 3-4 people on planet earth who truly understand your snarling trembling dripping purebred mongrel taste profile will recommend you things that blow your head off every single time. they'll be like "saw a tv pilot that was uncovered from a time capsule in pembrokeshire this weekend. it's an adaptation of the 1970s packaging for Zoom ice creams and a man died filming it. it's bad, you personally will love it, check it out 👍" and they're always right. you're texting them 24 hours later offering boons and oral sex bc the part where the ice cream butler travels to the moon and sees all the food colourings boil away into space as a metaphor for the decline of the nuclear age somewhat changed you as a person forever. meanwhile you go out in society and it's like no I didn't like glass onion. I don't want to talk about it, you'll divorce me.
