(Short one shot I wrote while at work )
Carrie shivered in the cool crispy air. Running a hand through her hair. She didn't bother taking her hat off. To any random passerbyer she would just seem like a normal person. she leaned on the banister, not wanting to move but also not wanting to stay still.
After waking up from a nightmare, her nerves were wrecked.
She was having them more and more frequently now. Once she was up, she had a hard time trying to fall back asleep. Not wanting to go through another one.
She was so exhausted.
The feline couldn't remember most of the details of such scarring visions. She would just wake up screaming and crying for help. powerless against an unknown enemy. it was by some strange reason that she didn't wake the other occupants up from their slumber. Or perhaps they were just heavy sleepers. She envied the way they could sleep blissfully with out being plagued.
Why couldn't she have nice dreams for once?
Feeling frustrated, tears start to sting her eyes. Carrie turned around, and slid down, leaning against the cold bars. She hated this. Feeling weak. It was easy for her keep her emotions in check but all it took was a nightmare and she was reduced to a sobbing mess. She was thankful that no one was around right now. not wanting them to see this side of her.
It was rather peaceful at night. Not exactly quiet considering the city night life going on. But it was comforting in a way life in the day time wasn't. The moon was stunning and giving off a calm glow. The stars dotted along the denim sky, dancing and twinkling. The soft, plush clouds accompany them adding to the setting.
And yet here she was, wide awake because she couldn’t get over the sounds of the old building and a bad dream.
Meanwhile, everyone else was asleep in their warm cozy beds, as it was late in the night.
At least she thought so.
Although it was pointless, Carrie decided to head back inside to go back to sleep. The sun would not be up for another 5 hours. Slipping through one of the windows of the roof, she carefully walked alongside the beams and pipes until she felt like she was close enough distance to the ground. Hopping down, only to see Dr. Two brains up.
He was standing near his chalk board, furiously scribbling down equations it seemed. Only to stop and begin erasing it. He wasn't wearing his labcoat. It was a bit strange seeing him not wear it.
When their eyes met, Carrie could feel her cold skin quickly heat up as the blood rushed to her face. The bitter clarity from earlier fought for dominance over her blind love, but ultimately lost when he spoke.
“Hey."
She gave a short wave back unsure if speaking would be something she was up for.
"something bugging you?" he asked. She blinked realizing she hadn't stopped crying. It was embarrassing.
"it…was nothing..." Carrie wiped her tears off her face. Keeping her voice as leveled as possible. "Just needed some air. Too cramped in the lair"
Dr. Two brains nodded. His face still reflected concern but decided not to push her. "Good to see I'm not the only one up. We must both have too much on our minds." his eyes looked over his unfinished plans. A small frown pursed on his lips. it was another cheese heist he was trying to pull off this week. Sometimes he didn't steal it, he would just turn things into that dairy product. It was something she didn't entirely get.
Then again he was part mouse and she was part cat. Suppose it had to be a mouse thing.
She could feel the mad scientist's gaze on her, and it only made her heart drum louder, ‘I don’t want to feel this way…’ she thought. It wasn't A bad feeling… just strange…
Being in love had a funny and cruel way of making you feel like the happiest yet loneliest person. At the moment she was happy.
But when they went their separate ways, she’d be lonelier than she was earlier.
Two brains cleared his throat. "so um… are you busy tomorrow?" Carrie shooked her head. She didn't really have much of a social life like he had. Mostly due to how she hated having attention on her. It made her anxious and afraid for some reason. Also the lack of any hobbies or intrests made it extremely hard to converse with the fellow villians.
"No…"
"well that's geat! Cuz…i found this nice spot and." He paused as if trying to figure out what he wanted to say. "I was wondering if…oh i don't know. If you wanted to go check it out with me?" She was silent. Two brains quickly added. "ONLY if you want to of course!" His attempt to seem casual and indifferent was failing terribly but that went over her head.
There it was again. The warm fuzzy feeling. She knew it was just a simple outing. However there was some excitement she felt by the invitation. "i would love to."
Even if it was in vain, carrie wanted to keep the rose colored glasses on.

Core Gems
So when a ghost becomes injured, they have a last ditch defense where they retreat into their core. And I mean, injured badly where their body is rip apart to the point they can’t hold a solid form anymore. And they basically go into a hibernation state until they are strong enough to form again.
Ellie, Danny, and Dan are all injured in a final battle against the GIW. The organization was destroyed and the ghosts were safe but the halfas ended up being so injured that they reverted to core form and then went to sleep for a bit. When they woke up, they were still weak but at least recovered enough to gain consciousness. And realize…they are in some kind of auction…in the middle of a heist. It appeared that two furries (one in a bat costume and one in a cat costume) were ducking it out. And they…they were a necklace. All three of them had been turned into a necklace with their cores as gems accompanied by sapphires, pearls, and opals. And frankly gorgeous craftsmanship as the metal was crafted around their cores as if to cradle them and the other gems.
Unfortunately, they were too weak to take a form properly, they could still feel the strain on their bodies. But at least they could still communicate through their auras. Then the cat lady punched a hole in the glass container surrounding them and grabbed their necklace.
However, the bat grabbed the other end and it resulted in a sort of tug-a-war. Meanwhile, Danny, Ellie, and Dan were having a back and form commentary on the situation and what they should do. Completely unheard by the other party.
In the corner of their eye, the three halfas finally noticed a third contender. Some kind of clown who was…hold on…holding a gun?! And it was pointed straight at the two fighting furies who had yet to notice him. The ghosts’ protective instincts went into overdrive and they frantically tried to shout, yell, move. Just do something to warn the two but their cries fell on deaf ears. All they succeeded in doing was faintly glow which immediatly caught the attention of the fighting duo. The two turned to look at the strange necklace but right at that moment, the clown fired and a gunshot rang throughout the auction room. Having no other options, Danny and the others poured every ounce of ectoplasm they had to try and phaseshift, making the two furries intangible as the bullets passed right through them, but in their shock, the two jumped away in opposite directions and accidentally ripped the necklace apart. Gems and pearls went flying and the three cores bounced along the ground.
Luckily, the two finally noticed the clown and went to deal with him and his minions who had appeared. Seemingly putting their fight on hold and forming a temporary truce. The three halfas could only watch as the battle finally wound down, ending with the cops barging into the place and arresting the clown and his grunts, the cat managing to escape with half the scattered gems and pearls from the broken necklace along with a few other jewelry pieces (none of their cores though) and the bat leaving through a skylight.
The auction continued and in the end, despite being broken, their necklace seemed to have caught someone’s interest. A man named Bruce Wayne bought up every piece of the shattered jewelry wear. The auctioneers appeared relived that the item managed to sell in the end and gratefully gave it to him.
Bruce had no idea what happened at the auction, but he could have sworn that some of the gems faintly glowed right before he and Selina were shot. If the necklace was some sort of magical item, then he needed to understand exactly what has been brought to Gotham. It was unfortunate that Selena had taken some parts of the necklace but he utilized his vast wealth to make sure all the other parts ended in his possession. Now he would take them back to the mansion for examination.

Smth based off @natsukishinomiyaswife’s fic here! READ IT!! not just for context but bc its sooo good?? Still shocked with how many people she fit in there.
I was SO happy Kiyuu appeared in there!!! But more than that, Jackiyuu friendship in every universe is smth i strive. Although there is only room for one specific Jack in her heart!!!
Time to talk more about Kiyuu!!
She actually has a lot of doubts abt her relationship with Jack, but in a really really weird way??? She got the aromantic doubts out of her system when she confessed to him, so it’s not about that.
Like if Jack liked someone else, she’d happily give him up so he can be happy, but in a relationship herself, she keeps wondering if she truly is the best fit for him?? Like she wants him to be the happiest he can be, so she treats him with care and love (and is extremely clingy, but she’s always like that), but she keeps wondering if he could be happier. And if so, then with whom?
And then she ends of saying stupid stuff she didn’t think of the deeper implications of. She’s too awkwardly honest!!!! But she just wants him to be happy, that’s it!!!!! 😭😭
I cannot wait for the next part!!! I LOVE THIS GATHERING OF OCS AND YUUS TOO MUCH now that i got jackiyuu out of my system, i’d love to draw kiyuu interacting w the other characters!!
