This story takes place several years after 'Blood Out'. Terry still lives in the Bronx and works in Manhatten SVU.

Following on from @the-hinky-panda story 'The Dog' Mike has retired from the NYPD on medical grounds due to seizures causes by the attack. He has a therapy dog called Bono and lives with @the-hinky-panda character Meredith.

Meredith’s and Duarte’s house had always felt like a home to Terry, ever since he’d first set foot through the front door. The building eluded a sense of comfort, a welcoming presence even after you’d had the shittiest of days. He had attended so many events here over the past two years, everything from intimate dinners to house parties. Your family had welcomed him with open arms after Duarte had had the ‘intentions’ conversation with him. He hadn’t got that at the time, hadn’t understood why Meredith was so overprotective over you but he did now.

Meeting Paul and seeing that look in his eyes had disturbed him. It made the detective inside him, stand up and take notice. There was something about the other man that made his hackles rise, Terry couldn’t put his finger on the exact causation, it was a simply a gut feeling.

He heard your voice in the living room and glanced through to see you sat on the plush couch alongside Duarte. A glass of red wine was clasped in your hand as the two of you studied an array of notes and pictures spread out across the coffee table. Meredith’s dog, a Brittany Spaniel was curled up at your feet, her chin thrust into your lap as your fingers scratched the top of her head. Bono, Duarte’s service dog surveyed the coffee table with interest as if he too was part of the conversation.

The sight warmed Terry. Your shoulders were relaxed, your eyes bright with mirth and interest as you and Duarte talked animatedly about the case file spread out across the table. The four of you had fallen into a format during his tenure as your boyfriend. He would help Meredith prepare dinner in the kitchen whilst you and Duarte discussed his latest case.

The other man had secured a PI license since he’d been discharged from the NYPD on medical grounds. The machete attack leaving him with seizures due to the blood loss, it was a hard toll to pay after leading such a decorated career. The two of them had sat out on the decking as summer turned to autumn, kicking back with a rich smoky bourbon Terry had acquired. They were half way through the bottle, and part way to being drunk when Terry revealed he’d been offered a job in Manhattan SVU, he didn’t know where he was heading after the whole thing with Bronx Unit, didn’t know if he should take it. He liked the people, but he found the Captain a little prickly. Duarte had known her, given him some insight. At her heart she was good people. He’d told Terry about the attack, about the depression he suffered, something that Terry had fought his own battle with in the aftermath of his subsequent firing and divorce. The two had toasted to better days and found themselves woken up at five in the morning by the sun rising over the garden fence and a ferocious hangover.

“He’s excited about this one.” Meredith told Terry, breaking his train of thought as she stood in front of a wooden chopping board slicing plump tomatoes picked fresh from the vegetable patch outside. “He’s on the trail of a missing painting from Colombia, it belonged to one of the families that were chased here by the cartels. The grandfather was apparently a secret artist, and this was the only thing they had left of him. It was stolen a couple of months ago during a robbery and the Bronx Unit are about as useful as a chocolate teapot. It’s considered a low priority as the family can��t prove provenance as it was a private piece painted for his wife.”

“This sounds like the beginning of a heist movie.” Terry said with a knowing smile as he rinsed the lettuce for the salad under the facet. “The next thing you’re going to tell me is that Duarte’s putting together a crew with a very specific set of skills.”

“Why do you think he’s in there?” Meredith asked him, jerking her head towards the living room, where they could both hear Duarte talking in that low undertone of his. “He’s trying to recruit her to the cause.”

Terry chuckled wryly before turning off the tap and shaking out the excessive droplets from the strainer before depositing the lettuce in the salad bowl.

“Are you ok?” Meredith asked him with a side long glance. “You seem quiet tonight. Usually, I can’t get you to shut up.”

Terry crossed his arms over his chest, his back coming to rest against the work surface, his mouth set in a grim line.

“I met Paul today.”

The rhythmic chopping slowed, and Terry bit his lower lip, sensing the change in mood.

“Through one of your cases?” Meredith asked, there was an undercurrent of tension in her tone. He could hear the real question and he knew that she already had her answer.

“One of hers.”

Meredith set the knife down, her hands coming to rest upon the wooden work surface as she focused on something on the opposite side of the window. Terry recognised that look, he’d seen it a thousand times before and it pained him to see it now.

“She didn’t tell you.” Terry stated, bowing his head.

“No.” Meredith remarked, her voice terse. “Because she knows if she did, I’d be losing my shit about now.” She gestured towards him. “I’m surprised you’re not losing your shit.”

Terry bit his lower lip before raising his eyes to the ceiling and praying for strength. He didn’t do jealousy; it had never been a factor with you. He knew you were beautiful, that other men coveted you however you’d chosen him, and he was secure enough in himself and your relationship to know you wouldn’t stray. That’s not what this was and he didn’t wish Meredith to perceive it as such. This was something far more visceral, a sense of danger and urgency. He hadn’t had a feeling like that in a long time.

“I don’t have any doubts about her. If she didn’t want to be with me she wouldn’t be, she knows my feelings on that…” Terry’s palm rubbed across the back of his neck in agitation. “It’s him, there’s something wrong with him. I’m not sure what it is but the way he looked at her…” he trailed off before looking Meredith in the eyes. “He doesn’t see a person, he sees an object, something to be possessed and that scares the shit out of me.”

Fear, that’s what this was all about. The underlying sensation that ran through his bones when he thought of Paul. Not for himself but for you. Meredith’s reaction right now was showing him that there was a reason for that, he’d been picking up subtle clues ever since he’d met the man and now the pieces were falling into place.

“She says it was a bad breakup.” Terry told Meredith, his voice lowering. “That they were together for two years and he became an addict...”

“I love her.” Meredith said quietly, shaking her head. “But our girl has a way of downplaying things.”

There was silence between the two of them, he could see the indecision on Meredith’s features, so he waited because this woman cared about you just as much as he did. She’d been batting for you your whole life and he knew they shared a common goal. Your safety and your happiness were paramount to the both of them.

“He put her through a mirror when he was high.” Meredith told him, her voice raw as she spat the words out. “He grabbed her by the throat because she wouldn’t pay off his drug debt and just smashed her right into it.” She trailed off her fingertips playing over her lips as she swallowed hard. “It took the doctor’s hours to pull all the glass out of her. She was lucky there wasn’t any nerve damage.”

Terry couldn’t speak, he didn’t trust himself to because there was a fury in him, a violent vengeful wrath. He’d seen the scars that decorated your neck and shoulders. A beautiful patch work of constellations. He had memorised each and every one of them with his mouth and fingertips, twisting those memories from something heinous into something more tender. He hadn’t understood at the time, you’d told him it had been an accident after a couple of gins. He’d known there was more, but he hadn’t pushed. Everyone was entitled to their secrets.

“It took a long time for her to recover after that, mentally.” Meredith said tapping her finger against her temple for emphasis.  “She lost a lot of herself during the relationship. We know it better as emotional abuse now, the way he isolated her…” Meredith wrapped her arms around herself. “I should I’ve seen it.”

They’d talked about it once, Meredith’s ex before Duarte. It had been a day like today, the two of them working together in the kitchen to create a meal. He’d been telling her about one of his cases, something to do with coercive control. He was trying to understand the mindset better, work out a way to embolden the victim, to find the right words to say. It had all come tumbling out, the story about a man who’d charmed her, cheated on her, controlled her.

Kevin, he remembered.

“Nah.” Terry said with sigh, hoping to alleviate some guilt. “They’re good at hiding it. Even if you’ve been through it before, it’s hard to spot.”

“I think that’s part of the problem.” Meredith informed him. “She’s a cop, she feels she should have known better, seen it sooner. It was intense from the beginning and it just spiralled, I don’t think she knew about the partying until later. He tried to tell her he got addicted from an op but he was doing coke long before that. My ex used to attend the same parties. He used to tell her he was working and hook up with his dealer at one of those warehouse raves.”

Terry could see how it had gotten out of hand. They worked long hours, weird shifts, when a bad case hit it was all hands on deck. It was insidious really, how aspects of your life could be turned and twisted against you. Instead of being supported, you were manipulated. He tried to reconcile who you had been back then, with the woman he knew now, and then the one he had met over two years ago. He had seen hints of it when he thought retrospectively. It had been a slow dance between the two of you, the chemistry was there but you both took it at a steady pace. Coffee dates, that turned to lunches, walks in the park that gave way to early dinners. He let you take the lead, guiding him through at a gentle speed because he was out of touch and under prepared. He thought you’d seen that in him, adjusted your trajectory to suit that but now he knew it was a bit of both, that you were taking your time because you’d been burned before and you weren’t ready to rush in. Spending time with you was like a breath of fresh air after a lifetime of being claustrophobic and he relished the patience you had exhibited in the early days. He wasn’t an easy man to be with, he was honest to a fault but you liked that, he understood why now. The lies, the deception and everything else you had endured had led to making different choices. Each and every one of them had led you here to him.

“I’m glad she’s with you.” Meredith said into the air between them. “I used to worry about that, how she handled the job on her own, if she’d let herself feel again but then she met you and…” she trailed off. “I know there’s someone there, in her corner who cares for her as much as I do, who will fight for her if she needs it, who loves her unconditionally.”

“Always.” Terry assured Meredith, his gaze straying through the open doorway and into the living room.  Shasta’s face was cradled between your hands, you kissed her snout before telling her she was the most beautiful dog in the world. That smile of yours, the lilt of your voice, the love and compassion that shone out of you like a beacon, it ruined him for anyone else. He meant it when he said ‘always’.

sadly couldn't get the free five star from the tour event :'))))) i didn't have enough time n strong enough cards rip BUT i did get both the four star cards + the three star ones n a bunch of resources so i'm...at peace with it.

oh yeah, i've upgraded from doing only normal difficulty songs to hard ones >:DD (expert's still outta my league tho sadge) fav songs to play rn are acanthe, mystic fragrance, n dance in the apocalypse (even tho dance in the apocalypse makes my fingers CRAMP like holy hell why are there so many things to tap–)

OH AND YOU ASKED ABT MY FAVES LAST TIME...i forgot to answer you shdjfjf i've liked rei for a while bc i've heard of him before sbdhd he talks like an old man and claims to be a vampire, aka perfection. bUT i've added a few more ppl to the roster: tsukinaga leo n izumi sena ! i think this is driven by the fact that i got their cards so i ended up searching them up to get to know them better but yes they <33

this is getting kinda long so last thing is. gacha exploits. so izumi's banner came out like...yesterday ? n i was like ok there's no harm in tryna get him since he's one of my faves tho i've heard enstars gacha is a living hell–

It's fine if you don't get the 5* from the tour! Your cards will gradually grow and become stronger so there's future chances! This was also just the first tour out of 5 this year so there's plenty of chances!!

AHH LEO AND IZUMI I SENSE A KNIGHTSP IN THE MAKING !!! I myself am a ritsu and arashi producer along with mao! Knights is such a gorgeous unit and im so happy you like their newest song!! Arashi was the center for that (which i grinded the whole day for because i wanted to snag her the first day uwu)

But I'm so glad you managed to get Izumis second feature scout on your first 10 roll! Don't worry enstars have a tendency to really sike you out with it's gacha so don't be surprised if a 5* suddenly rolls by on blue lights OuO)/

And don't worry if you can't do expert stages yet! Rhythm games are mostly muscle memory and coordination which takes practice! If you want to however both full combo it and perfect combo it there are also cards that fully support those chances! Perfect comboes will give you more dias and some cards that has the ability to turn great/good notes to perfect is for example these two:

Feature scouts tend to be very powerful by themselves! Tour cards also have a very high rating that is usually everywhere between 91K-94k when fully filled even at one card!

But i see that you're already starting with the sparkle dash missions for Subaru! He's generally a very good card to have in the beginning since he's the first 5* that you can max out! The road gives you the necessity to get his percentage all the way up to 200%!

I'm glad i could make you like rhythm games again! They're very fun although stressful at times uwu I hope you continue to like it and feel free to stop by again when you have more to say or have any questions!!

First nile is the only one who has grown up with halloween, and as i’ve seen the way the united states does halloween is just so much MORE than in other countries, so the others probably haven’t celebrated it much in any kind of way

And nile LOVES halloween, grew up making costumes with her mom and brother and she loves the classic costumes, ghosts, witches, vampires, etc. and she is GOOD at making them and finding just the right things to make them

Except now nile has a resource she didn’t have previously, these ancient ass motherfuckers

She’s a HUGE fucking art/art history nerd, and now at her disposal are four immortals who have a combined over 8,000 years of life on this earth so her costume potential has just skyrocketed

Nile now has the opportunity to dress as any and all historical art figures she wants with COMPLETE accuracy (assuming at least some of the guard met that person - which they’ve definitely met lots of them)

Nicky and joe are absolute GIDDY with the idea of matching costumes, and a serious thank you to kayla for blessing us with the image of them wearing matching abba costumes

But also imagine nicky and joe doing the thing where one of them is an artist and the other goes as one of their works, like van gogh and his self portrait OR pls imagine joe going as michelangelo and nicky going as the david (because listen nicky was the inspiration behind it) or also alexandre cabanel and nicky as the painting of lucifer (it’s the EYES)

But also: decade costumes. They love to reminisce about old fashions and what the world was like and what they were doing at the time, and you know joe probably has several pieces of clothing from various eras tucked away somewhere so when they get the change they go FULL on with the costumes, down to the last detail

However i will die on the hill that nicky LOVES pun costumes, like imagine them as ‘ice ice baby’ with their cat (cattulus because i remember the cat hcs hegel lol) as the baby 

Also pls imagine them or andy and quynh as gomez and morticia addams

Quynh goes dramatic as hell, full on makeup and prosthetics. Like nile, she’s a halloween QUEEN, and loves the sexy scary route, vampires, ghostly warrior, zombies, etc. whatever it is she will KILL it. Loves the scary face makeup with the scratches and blood everywhere

She also probably loves the holiday and loves to scare the rest of the guard, so far she’s scared nicky the most though they now are teaming up to get booker

Loves anything that will make andy SPEECHLESS and anything where she can wear heels

Nile and quynh are a force to be reckoned with about halloween, they prepare MONTHS in advance, buying what they need and taking the time to make their costumes perfect and they WILL show you the fuck up at any party with their skill and beauty

Andy does like the holiday but she will only wear something where she can carry a weapon, bonus if the weapon is her axe but she’ll settle for a sword

Loves to do pirates or warriors, and like nile will occasionally take the historical route and go as joan or arc or artemisia or the like and gets quynh to go as Lady Triệu (which who is to say that wasn’t her in the first place)

Gets at least a little drunk wherever they go and will sword fight someone, too bad for the other person for not realizing her sword is real though

Quynh always helps her with her costume, but andy prefers a more relaxed approach and will sometimes just choose old armor she has and go with that

Booker is the wild card of the bunch

He’ll act like this is all silly but LOVES watching everyone dress up and have fun

Some years he’ll be lazy and throw on jeans and a cowboy hat and that’ll be it, one year he went a little wild and did a brown leather jacket and was indiana jones (which i’d love to see)

He’ll try many times to see what he can do with the clothes he has, instead of going for a whole costume - even going as james bond with a suit he had

A favorite of his is going as famous athletes, soccer or american football, HOCKEY (he’s fucking BUILT for it ok)

Also i firmly believe he went as batman one year in a full batsuit and he LOVED it

Lykon’s gonna be included too, but i think he’d be relatively laid back about his costume. Not going quite as lazy as booker, but he choose simple over the all the makeup and stuff. I think he’d love to do SUPER cheesy classic costumes, a sheet for a ghost, big fangs and a cloak for a vampire, etc. or sometimes as a surfer or something where he can wear hawaiian shirts because i think he would’ve loved them. He mostly just wants to have a good time with his family and focus more on that

now we can also talk group costumes in which i am extremely partial to them going as the scooby doo gang, because this is one of my fav fanarts and nicky going as scooby is the funniest shit ever 

Also you just KNOW they went as the avengers or star wars characters or some shit at least at one point in their lives (idk anything about star wars so)

For your consideration: quynh as black widow, andy as hulk, nicky as the winter soldier (the HAIR and the EYES), joe as nomad steve or falcon, booker as thor (they would all make so much fun of his wig because of course they’re gonna make him do the long hair look), and nile as the scarlett witch because she's that POWERFUL

Tagged by @beepbeepsan. It’s a getting-to-know-you game, and I have just gotten a bunch of new followers, so the timing works well

1. Where are you from? United States, lived my whole life in Texas (but my parents are from New York City, so I’m not, like, culturally Texan)

2. Fandoms? The only one I’ve ever been really active in is The Old Guard. I went to Star Trek conventions as a kid, I participated in an AOL chatroom about The Cure in my late teens, and I was slightly involved with Supernatural on LiveJournal and Television Without Pity, but that was like, season 3. So this has been a bit of an education.

3. Tea, coffee or hot chocolate? Hot chocolate for sure. Unless we’re going with an expansive definition of “tea” and including “plant bits boiled in water, doesn’t have to contain actual tea” in which case I love hibiscus tea, which is technically an infusion/tisane.

4. What’s your occupation (ie, job, student)? I’m a government auditor. Sounds scary, really isn’t.

5. Fav food? Oh no. I’m currently four days into an attempt at a low-FODMAP diet as a desperate attempt to address certain health issues, so thinking about favorite foods just makes me sad. I can’t have anything that has any amount of onion or garlic. I miss food that tastes like anything. My favorite food is “definitely not what I am currently eating.”

6. Ambitions/Hobbies? I’ve recently (in the last three weeks) started writing fanfic. I’d like to continue developing my skills in that. I clearly have some talent at writing heavy emotional stuff, but can I do fluff? Can i write long fics? And I resolved several years ago to learn the Thriller dance and got to the point where I could do the whole thing at a slower tempo but never mastered it at normal speed. I’d have to start almost from scratch, but I’d like to pick that up again.

7. Fav musical artist(s)? I have to start with the Cure, because even when I go months and months without listening to them it has been almost 30 years now since I first got into them and it’s just part of who I am at this point. Other favorites vary. These days I’m listening to a lot of CHVRCHES, Kishi Bashi, and Lil Nas X.

8. What do you think is the closest thing to real magic? Some time ago I was at a science museum and there was this shell, like a conch type of thing, and it had a very even and precise pattern of brown squares on it. And the thing about patterns like that on complicated shells is that the squares aren’t all the same distance apart - they look like they are, but it’s actually an incredibly complicated process to adjust spacing on a 3-dimensional object to preserve rows and columns. It would be so hard for a human to program it, but that little critter just secreted it perfectly.

9. If you had to choose a fictional world to live in for the rest of your life, where would it be? I play the Sims a lot and frankly I would love to live in that world. Some of the stuff (free healthcare, affordable education) is just “move the fuck out of the US” kind of stuff, but there’s also “you can instantly get a job in your field, no matter what field it is, and you will always get promoted to match your skills, and a college degree guarantees a well-paying job even if you’re an artist or a philosopher or whatever,” not to mention “your clothes will always fit perfectly” and “the most complicated makeup and hairstyles are achievable by anyone.” The technology exists to keep your pets alive (and happy and healthy) basically forever. Travel is nearly instantaneous and universally accessible. Racism, sexism, homophobia, etc don’t exist. And there’s vampires and aliens and magic and so on. As long as you can avoid getting crushed by a Murphy bed, you’re golden.

Synopsis:

A detective, unwelcome in a southern town, is first accused of murder then entreated to help solve it.

Why It’s A Favourite:

Where to begin?  There is so much about this movie that is excellent.

First, I love grit of the film.  I love the way the story starts off slow like a Mississippi summer night.  I love the way you see everyone’s sweat and their leering eyes, sallow skin, and bad teeth.  I love the way the cop cruises the street where he’ll see the nude girl in the window.  I love the way Sidney Poitier absolutely counteracts all the southern grit with his northern suave.  It’s a beautiful contradiction.  For the time, the mood and content of the film was utterly surprising and risky.

I love Rod Steiger’s character as Chief Bill Gillespie.  Even though he is obnoxious and less than a genius, his character is nearly as disliked as Sidney’s.  The Chief cares more than the outsider, Virgil, cares about what the people of Sparta think of him.  But he doesn’t care enough to act outside of his conscience.  And when he doesn’t know what to do, he says so.  

I love love love Detective Virgil Tibbs.  I love the way he tells the backward white folks the way things are and the way he gives orders in a quiet but commanding way.  Sort of explaining why the southerners are idiots but making them come to the conclusion themselves.  And I love how he gets distracted by his hatred for whitey’s power.  How he decides who the killer is just so he can topple the most racist businessman in town.  And I love the way he digs in and doesn’t let go, even though his life is in danger.

I’ve watched this movie three or four times and I enjoy it more every time I watch it.  You see I included more of the crew up at the top than I usually do because this movie wouldn’t have been the same without Hal Ashby’s editing, Haskel Wexler’s cinematography, and Quincy Jones’ musical input.  These things work with the director’s style so well that I’m placed back in 1967 Mississippi without fail.  All of these things and more make In the Heat of the Night one of my 52 Favourite Films in No Particular Order.  Oh Yes.  Most Definitely.  What are your favourite things about this film?

When You Love Someone... A FEH build breakdown for Lukas: Sharp Soldier

When you marry someone you’re supposed to stay with them through better or worse and as I have previously discussed the power creep has made Lukas: Sharp Soldier worse as it has affected all older four stars. 

While everyone screams about FEHPass, which you all honestly should I just don’t want to get into my thoughts on it at this time. I decided to buckle down and show my Lukas the love he deserves or at least try to.

I know he is just a fictional character but I love this man so much! So, so much...

Anyhow, that love had me say, “He deserves the best he can get!” meaning I was finally willing to throw away five stars with potentially powerful, and rare abilities on a project that may or may not work. 

This is where I ended up. If successful my happy husband will be on every Tempest Trial team from now on being the great and powerful defender I know him to be. Assuming I don’t need Picnic Lukas instead, hey at least now I have options.

I haven’t been grinding Fire Emblem as I should for the sake of power gaming, I am not as active as I once was because of decisions that the company has made and that hasn’t changed so I’m not stocked on Dragonflowers like I should be.  For all the stat discussion I’m going to talk about Lukas ‘As Is’ meaning as he is in that screen capture and will be listing underneath that the stats of when he is ‘Max’ 40+10+10.

Daybreak Lance - I went with his Weapon Forge special ability which gives him Atk/Def +4 if a foe initiates combat in addition to the -1 cool down on the special.  Swap - After testing I prefer this on him as opposed to Reposition because I found that my ability to manipulate the board with him flows better with Swap. Also it activates the Link skill.  Bonfire - Once you see the numbers you’ll see why I went with a special that has a trigger of 2 (thanks Daybreak Lance) doing 50% of Def as a damage boost. Bonus Doubler - When I go over the math below this will be explained.  Def/Res Link - Devout protecting tank has to maximize his tanking yo. Joint Hone Spd - This boy’s Spd is too low for my liking plus he gives the +5 Spd to not only himself but all adjacent allies.

Spd/Res Sacred Seal - This will be the most controversial choice I bet but I found both those stats to be just under comfortable thresholds. These bonuses top them up nicely and it is a Sacred Seal I never have to worry about moving around. 

Now let’s talk numbers...

The planned scenario is that Lukas was standing next to someone at the start of his turn and has since used Swap and is ready for people to come at him. When he is attacked by someone these are the bonuses he will have. Daybreaker Lance: +4 Atk, +4 Def Def/Res Link: +12 Def, +12 Res (Thanks Bonus Doubler!) Joint Hone Spd: +10 Spd (Thanks Bonus Doubler!) So his stats total stats in that scenario will be: ‘As Is’ - Hp: 58, Att: 61, Spd: 40, Def: 60, Res: 40 ‘Max’ - Hp: 59, Att: 63, Spd: 42, Def: 62, Res: 42  With Bonfire triggering for an addition 30 to 31 damage. The worst case scenario is that he has to go on the offensive and is the last man standing. Won’t lie in that case his numbers are just what they are above adding +1Hp, and +2 to everything else when he’s maxed and...those numbers aren’t nothing to shrug off. Especially remembering that he is an infantry unit.

Also not gonna lie every unit that someone builds is gonna have issues in it’s worst case scenario. Very few units are impervious to everything, all the time.

This is also the best I think I can do until better abilities come along or become more frequent so that I have the chance to get them. 

Testing him in the level 40 Training Tower under the idea that he is the only one that is allowed to engage enemy units on the team has proven very successful over all against all types of units.

I really wish I could draw; the success of this build would have me drawing poor embarrassed Lukas being fawned over by his happy Summoner husband... q.q Anyhow I also did this to remind people to not give up, that there are ways to make your 4 star favs or spouses who have been left behind able to hang with the big boys once again. P.S. thanks the brave ladies who fed themselves to Lukas to help make my man so big and strong! Little Miss Nah & Year’s First Dream Gunnthra your sacrifices were not in vain!

how tall are they? despite her mother and siblings being giant, she took after her father and is only like 5’4

how do they tend to dress? very 60s/70s hippy! she is a thrift store fiend and loves paisley prints & florals. growing up she relied heavily on hand me downs from her siblings and had to make do with more ‘vintage’ attire compared to others her age

do they like how they look? currently, yes, but as a preteen/teen, not really. she was a gymnast for the longest time (a family tradition literally all of her siblings and her mother did gymnastics, her sister was the only one who carried it into college) and spent a lot of her time comparing herself to her competition. in doing so she ruined her self-image, but with shane’s help, and a really really great english counselor, she managed to overcome it.

are they an only child or do they have any siblings? four older siblings from her mother’s ex-husband, including my open heart mc dr. maria volkova. the others are mikhail (maria’s twin, both 26), vasily (31), and the oldest is pavel (37).

are they a morning person or night owl? night owl, college does that to you

are they a cat person or a dog person? dog, hands down. especially elderly dogs, which is what she and her mom would adopt when she was younger/living at home

got any favourite foods? her mom is a russian jew, and her father is italian, so she is well versed in food, but would rather eat matzo all day everyday if given the chance which grinds her mother’s gears

how about favourite drinks? wine, wine, wine. any and all types.

what are their favourite movies/tv shows? okay so she doesn’t really watch tv because she doesn’t have time, but when she was little she was obsessed with watching star trek reruns and had a crush on will ryker

do they have any hidden talents? like her sister, she has a connective tissue disorder that causes hypermobile joints and can and will put her legs behind her head and walk on her ass cheeks to gross out shane at every given opportunity

do they believe in love at first sight? not really. love is something that grows over time, and while some people meet and have a really strong connection that flourishes quickly, the majority of the population isn’t so lucky.

who is their love interest? she’s very stuck between incredibly strong feelings for raleigh, who is too afraid to admit how he truly feels and deflects emotions with jokes, and avery, who she is convinced sees her only platonically.

what are they afraid of? failure and mediocrity. all of her siblings have gone on to do great things (a doctor, a high ranking air force officer, a lawyer, and an author), and she’s worried she won’t live up to them and their success

what are their guilty pleasures? tlc. 90 day fiancé, toddlers & tiaras, say yes to the dress, you name and she watches it. shitty reality shows are the beat stress relievers

what was their dream job as a kid? is it still their dream? she’s sung ever since she was little, but was very adamant about being an astronaut when she grew up. because of this she studied aerospace engineering in college, but wasn’t nearly as passionate about building aircrafts as she was about making music.

have they ever broken a bone? surprisingly, no.

have they ever been in trouble with the law? in high school she protested a lot of things because she’s from a small, quite conservative town and is the exact opposite of that, and one of her protests involved trespassing on the football field, chaining herself to the end goal, and refusing to leave because their superintendent cut the art budget in favor of remodeling the field. long story short, the police were called and her mother was not happy.

she is the only one in her family to be born in the united states (her dad was born in sicily, and her mother + siblings were born in kaluga, russia and lived there until after maria’s birth and their moms divorce)

she was a gymnast for most of her adolescence, but quit after an injury her sophomore year of high school

one time she face planted on flat ground and then managed to trip while getting up and fell down the stairs (no broken bones tho!!!)

Coming to a rewatch of TNG after a rewatch of DS9 kind of sucks. I know that putting anything after my fav is gonna cast that anything in a bad light obvs but TNG was probably the worst pick. I feel like (at least in the earlier seasons cause I'm just like halfway through right now) they had to work so hard at proving they could be a Star Trek that they couldn't play around with it the way other serieses could--couldn't try subverting any of the weirder worldviews/themes inherent to the setting. That sounds pretty high and mighty but mostly I just mean TNG has a lot of really casual really hurtful heterosexism because pre-DS9, Star Trek settings ran by default on the assumption that a man and a woman loving each other was a biological need. Not even in the sense of horny, just, like, that a humanoid man or woman can't truly be complete and WELL unless they have the love of a woman or a man. Sure, there are implications of some aliens offscreen marrying polyamorously to create four person family units involving multiple partners of both genders Or Whatever, which means we can surely infer SOME connection happens between the same gendered partners, and I didn't miss the significance of Dr Crusher not mentioning 'and you're a woman' when breaking up with a body-hopping alien symbiont she had fallen deeply in love with (altho the handling that ep left much to be desired), but in scenes and episodes not specifically trying to make a point about sexuality being diverse or whatever, it's all really disheartening, like Troi citing that a human kid a generic Star Trek energy being wanted to raise would never be able to have a wife as one of the reasons that he should be returned to the Enterprise. In the world of (at least the first four seasons of) TNG, most human cultures are old and dead and assimilated (aside from French vineyards, 1800s navy life, and classic english lit, of course????), and men and women need to love each other to be healthy, which I must accept as beautiful and meaningful rather than alienating, painful, limiting, and cliche.

S7 clips pack so little punch that it feels like we go days without clips! Why is druck's writing so... *illbekinderthanIreallyfeel*...underwhelming this season? What's worse is that Eren has shown plenty of signs that they could handle leading a power house of a season, but instead they are stuck with a 1st draft:( druck is the only show im watching at the moment. I need to change that! Do you have any current fav shows or recent past fave shows you can recommend to me pls?

I feel your pain. Ok, so I have a couple of recs. Depending on what genre you're like. Here it is:

911 and 911 lone star, they're fox shows. They are about first responders. The writing is really good. The queer rep is pretty solid as well. Although lone star is definitely a little queerer, but lone star also has too much focus on the main character.

I am also watching Succession, but that is not for everybody, like Hannibal is the kind of show not for everybody (lots of queer subtext but not "canon" as of yet). It's about a rich family and the cycle of abuse. You are kind of supposed to hate all the characters in an "I kind of want them to fail kind of way."

I very much recommend Bad Buddy, which is a Thai BL show that is ongoing. Directed by a queer man. It's very good so far. It's a Romeo-and-Juliet-inspired love story between two boys. But unlike Romeo and Juliet, the boys hate each other too at first. You can watch this on YouTube (link)

Speaking of Romeo and Juliet there is a very good Indian gay Romeo and Juliet series that I like, but it has a cliffhanger and I still don't know if there will be more called Romeo and Jugal.

Recently properly finished Young Royals on Netflix. And it's really good, I enjoyed it a lot.

And I have to watch What We Are in the Shadows, but I haven't watched it yet. It's a vampire show. It also has queer characters. Another show I want to watch but haven’t yet is Arcane, it’s animated and it’s on Netflix.

I also recommend We Are Lady Parts it's a show that has four Muslim girls mains and one of them is queer.

The show Diary of A Future President is also very good and it needs more people to watch it. It's about the life of the first Latina president of the united states, you see her in middle school (and hopefully beyond if it's not canceled) and you see the life of her Mom and her brother (who comes to term with their sexuality in the show - and it's so good)

I am partial to the Shadow and Bone show on Netflix, but I have been told that if you haven't read the books it's based on, it can get kind of confusing. Or at least, some people find it confusing. It's fantasy. It has a couple of background gay and bi rep, not a main love story (not yet, but one it's coming) and a couple of characters who you know are bi just if you read the books. It's set in a fictional world. And two paralleling sets of characters that are both "main".

If you would like to venture more into the world of BL and GL (Asian dramas with mlm and wlw - that focus on the romance between same-sex people) I can give you good recs so that you can avoid the really bad/problematic ones.

THE IDOLM@STER SideM 3rdLIVE TOUR report - Makuhari Day 1

In a nutshell: IT WAS FKING AMAZING

As I’m typing this my SideM timeline is being flooded with adorable photos by the cast members ahjdgGskljh and they’ve published the set list for today’s concert so please have a look.

INCOHERENT SCREAMING UNDER THE CUT also pls note that i refer to the cast members by their given nicknames :3c

First of all, i did NOT expect the concert to be FOUR HOURS LONG. I mean i knew it’d be longer than the standard 2 hours because well, 16 groups??? And it was absolutely amazing from start to finish so it didn’t even feel that long goddddd i’m so grateful that i got to watch it ;___;

Since the set list is available for all to see i’ll just jot down some commentary...

I only realised today that the seat i got assigned for today’s LV was in the FIRST ROW, DEAD CENTER and while this would be great at a concert, i generally prefer the back row at the cinema bc being so close to the screen is actually really uncomfortable. You get a sore neck from looking up and the edges of the screen are outside your field of vision...... but i count myself lucky just to have a seat so there’s that. As it was my first SideM concert i also sorta wanted to be able to watch the people in front of me wrt what to do.... thankfully i’d seen enough footage of SideM live events to have a rough idea of the calls, etc.

Anyway, onto the actual event. Yamamura was the first to appear, going over the guidelines and rules of the concert. He mentioned that there wouldn’t be an interval, to make time for more songs! (The audience cheered lol)

The whole cast of 46 members came onto stage for the opening talk and introductions. After that, DraSta was the first to perform (Starlight Celebrate). As a DraStaP this made me happy ^^ But i was surprised that they were singing the Starting Line songs, which made me wonder if the rest of the groups would do the same.... (They actually did, but some sang the first song in their starting line singles while others sang the 2nd song???) Shugon and Taso were amazing live and delivered solid performances as usual. Taku was a bit inconsistent, but maybe the nerves got to him.

Beit’s Tomorrow Diamond - I LOVE their outfits so much!!!!!!!! So princely and sparkly T_T At one part while the camera was on Ume he fucking BIT HIS GLOVE and the whole room SCREAMED hsjdsshagah idk maybe it was coming loose and he was trying to adjust it but anyway he killed like half the people in the theater. Also at the end of the song Ume knelt on one knee and made a gesture like he was holding out an engagement ring and everyone died lmao i was so mad i actually said out loud YOU CAN'T DO THAT and the person next to me laughed. Oh and apparently the white gloves were a new addition to their prince outfits (according to Horieru). Maybe they were there just so Ume could bite them and kill some people smh

Cafe Parade’s Reversed Masquerade - zombie dance! They are so cute T_T I would watch a whole musical performed by them....... The groups in the 3rd Anniversary Disc 01 (Cafe Parade, Alte, Legenders) all got to sing their new songs, but sadly not the collab song.Eternal Phantasia.

Shinsoku’s Burning Cool de Kagayaite - I loooooooooooove watching these two, their outfits are gorgeous and badass and Machuyan is irl suzaku GOD HE IS SO TALL AND TONED... Doing the “oi oi oi!” call was super fun >< Fukamachi had so much fun that he forgot to sing one of his lines lmao

Sai came up next but it was a BRAND NEW SONG which had everyone was in a mild panic bc we couldn’t recognise the song intro and were like W-WHAT COLOUR DO WE SET OUR PEN LIGHTS TO??? until they appeared on stage and then it hit us that OH MY GOD IT’S A NEW SOOOOOONG lol. Later during the talk segment Yamashita Daiki said that he was trying his best not to laugh at the audience’s visible confusion at the start of the song wwwwwwww

Jupiter appeared next on stage and we just SCREAMED because JUPITER!!!!! And screamed louder because Over AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It;s so good to have the whole team here, esp when Touma and Hokuto were absent for 2nd Live T_T

S.E.M - Study Equal Magic. My other honmei unit.... I’m SO HAPPY that i got to do the takenoko dance with everyone <333333333 Yoshiki lost a lot of weight and looks really good..... From what i could see from his twitter he lost heaps of weight rapidly so a lot of us were worried but i think he mentioned recently that he switched to the bulk up phase and he looked fit and healthy on stage which is a relief. Totto actually flubbed one of his lines 8D;;;;;;

HiJo - JOKER All Mighty. Another song i’m super happy to get to participate in!!! Though at the cinema we were swinging our penlights instead of towels. They’re all so cute ;;;;;;;; Nogami sounded amazing live too. Naganyan and Hirohiro didn’t disappoint and gave us some Natsuki/Jun fanservice 8)

KOGADO’S FIGHT SCENE WAS RIDICULOUSLY BADASS WTF and mostly choreographed by Hime apparently??????? They still hold the title of SideM’s action unit....... Also I love Hamanon so much, he gave SO MUCH fanservice to the cameras........ blowing kisses, making and serving ramen (twice, lol), making hugging gestures........ Hamanon is a national treasure >< Also Hime dyed his hair silver and got extensions (ponytail) to match Ren <333

Speaking of Hime, he ended his (very cute) message to the audience by switching to Ren mode and saying “Baaaaaaaka” which the audience LOVED lol but F-LAGS were next and Sanpei-san was like “Wow aren’t Kogado just lovely” LOL

I was excited to see Legenders ofc as they’re my third tantou unit but tbh i’m not in love with their new song Symphonic Brave. Ig i should be happy that they’ve moved on from emo (but sexy) to more uplifting songs ;w; But the moodiness was what drew me to Legenders in the first place.... and I love Amehiko’s voice in the darker songs...

Kaleid TOURRHYTHM. I feel SO blessed to get to hear this T_T The full Jupiter team with W..... i love this song sm.........

When it was W’s turn during the talk segment, Kikuti actually started tearing up as he was overwhelmed by gratitude;;;;; Yamati (and the audience) kept cheering him on but he couldn’t stop crying...... my baby T___T W also went to hug Jupiter bc they were so happy that all three were present! We feel you!!!

Fun! Fun! Festa! was another super fun song to chant along with. Horieru had Kaerru with him and they made such a cute pair.... TakaP did The Wink at the camera and killed the remaining half the people in the cinema lol just arrest everyone from Beit tbh. Oh and Ume did the MAKUHARIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII thing again wwwwwwwwwwwwwww

F-LAGS got to ride the trolleys around the corridor between the 2nd and 3rd floors while performing Yumeiro Voyager :D I’m sure it was a treat for everyone sitting in those seats! Sanpei-san kept making lovehearts with her hands at the camera sajhgf;ag;dka i love her sm ;_______; She also tweeted a couple of days ago that she dyed her hair green to match Ryouchin.... she is an angel....

Mofu Mofu En took full advantage of the cameraman that was on stage with them and made lots of adooooooorable faces at the camera, killing lots of people as well......

Natsujikan Graffiti!! Every time the camera zoomed in on Shiraim (and Matsuoka, for that matter) there would be giggles wwwww Those two are just so awkward and funny and lovable wwwwwwww Anyway, they released a few giant balloons during this song, for the audience to bounce around to each other. I thought it was a pretty neat gimmick that matched the party tone of the song.

Ryuusei Parade was next and i legit whispered “yabai” when the intro played....... All my fav groups in one song T____T It was amazing, as expected,,,

S.E.M performed From Teacher to Future next, and I’m not sure if it was intentional or not but Enokiya tripped and fell right at the start of the song lol.

HiJo caused a stir when they too appeared on the trolleys for Sunset Colours. They threw what looked like squishy toy (foam?) balls at the audience as they were wheeled around the venue. I was jealous ^q^ Shiraim mimed playing the drums with some balloons that were attached his trolley as decorations wwwwwwwww Why is he so weird wwwwwwwwwwww

Omg, this next part SHOOK US ALL. The intro for Alice or Guilty started playing and we were all like “Omg??? Really???!!!!!!!?????” then Jupiter appeared on stage in their 961 black jackets and we SCREAMED bc we could not fking believe what was happening!!! The person next to me started crying... I was just in shock the entire time....... After the song ended the stage screen showed Jupiter’s logo from their 961 years transforming into 315′s Jupiter logo and we LOST OUR SHIT. I actually yelled when i saw some stagehands go on to the stage to help Jupiter change into their green jackets, then the intro for BRAND NEW FIELD kicked in and by then everyone was in tears ;____; Jupiterrrrrrrrrrr you’ve come so far....... we love you.........

DraSta performed Arrive To Star (Shugon was srsly Teru the entire time, i love him sm!!!!), after which the whole cast joined them on stage in 3rdLive outfits (the same ones in the Live on Stage game!!) to sing Reason!!. We screamed when the screen displayed a new group illustration of all 16 units in the Reason!! outfits T________T They’d commissioned new artwork just for today’s concert aaaaahhhhhhh

The last song was BeyoDori, where I once again wished that i had 6 pairs of eyes to catch everything that was happening (the stage is very full with 46 ppl lol). Kuma-chan stays in the air for so long when he jumps.................

Break for encore. President Saitou appeared on screen to update us on new releases and announcements, after which the cast returned to the stage to perform GLORIOUS RO@D and DRIVE A LIVE.

Other random things

Kanbara-san is very generous with his “Chao <3″ ughhhh i loVE HIM and every time he throws an “Angel-chan and Angel-kun <3″ at us i just love him even more

Sanpei-san running onto the center stage after being provoked by Murase lol but being disappointed that her teammates didn’t join her

Kuma-chan egging on the audience to do Massan’s “Kawaii!” call, much to Massan’s embarrassment wwwwwwww

Enokiya being as dry and snarky as usual

Shugon’s smile is 10000000000000000000000 watts, have i mentioned that i love him? He also blew a few kisses at the camera and i died over and over again ugh take him away

SUPER EXCITED for the France shuffle team! I love everyone in that group T_T Teru, Hideo, Amehiko, Suzaku.... They also showed us a bit of the new song where they’re all dressed in blue and white military(?)/knight outfits. (Edit: OMFG I LOGGED ONTO LIVE ON STAGE APP AND THEY’VE ALREADY IMPLEMENTED THE GACHA FOR FRANCE EVENT I’M DYING)

Kasama-san was such a gentleman in both of his messages/talk time... how is he real........

During talk time Machuyan put his arm around Kobapyon’s shoulders and they looked so cosy lmao i wish for something similar to happen with Suzaku and Saki-chan SUZAKU GOOD LUCK

The 3rdLive outfits are REALLY cute >< Unlike in the LOS game, each unit has their own twist on the outfit (eg Cafe Parade has frilly shirts, S.E.M has black shirts) and even within units each character’s outfit is unique (Jirou's short sleeves, Michiru has a headband etc)

There’s so much more but this is all i can remember for now and i need to sleep to recharge for tomorrow’s LV!!! I’ll do another report for tomorrow too!

The characters are all like different parts of me, Phoebe is an angry psycho which is a part I never get to express often, but there are parts of her that are not like me. Same with Helena being independent to some extent.

One thing about me is I like to find things I have in common with people, if I look hard enough, it could become obsessive.

Are any of your characters based on someone you know? Hmm a lot of my male characters look like rock stars if that counts. Are any of your plots based on something that happened to you?
