Oliver made quick time in packing his suitcase, he had gotten really good at it from all his traveling. He made it to the airport a little too early, who was he, his dad?  He sighed and sat down in the terminal and looked down at his phone. He smiled at the newest message from Karlie, this was the craziest thing he had done for a first date in a long time. It had been a long time since Oliver had been on a date to begin with, so who knows how this date will turn out. Karlie seemed like a really great woman and she was beautiful and funny. He hadn’t been this excited to meet someone in a long time. Oliver was hoping that was a good sign. Finally after what felt like years waiting to board and waiting for the plane to get off the ground he was landing in New York.

He was thankful that he remembered to bring his jacket on the plane with him because damn it was a lot colder than it was in LA. He texted Karlie to let her know that he had landed and was getting a Uber to her place. The closer Oliver got to Karlie’s place the wetter his hands seemed to get. “Oliver… get your shit together, you are a 33 years old man, not a fucking 16 years old..” He took a deep breath and wiped his palms on his pants. He looked up when the car stopped, he thanked the driver as he grabbed his bag and walked towards her building. “I’m here 🥰” He texted her. “ah!” gasping at the sudden downpour, you raised a hand above your head, unsuccessfully attempting to shield yourself from the rain. scrambling to grip miguel with the other, you tugged on his sleeve. 

“we’re gonna get all wet!” 

“c’mere.” miguel laughed as he pulled you gently towards the doorway, brushing the wet strands of hair away from your face.

the coffee shop doorway was our saviour, small yet mighty. it offered you a somewhat cozy safe haven from the rain, fairy lights strewn across the door and vines creeping along the worn brick.

“you ok, cariño?” he laughed softly as he shook the rain out of his hair, now beginning to drip down his neck.

“never been better.” you gushed, trying not to smile too wide as you took all of him in. somehow he’d never looked better.

“ah… fuck. i’m an idiot though - should’ve checked the weather before we came. guess our plans are all ruined now.” he rubbed his neck, frowning slightly.

“hey - it’s not ruined. it’s just… you know. postponed?” you offer, trying to make miguel feel better. you reach up, gently adjusting a few stray pieces of hair from his face. 

he sighed, nodding. 

“you’re right corazón. our plans aren’t ruined. and lord knows i would willingly get caught in torrential downpour a hundred times over if it meant you were there alongside me.” he murmured, looking down at you. reaching up, he traced your jawline gently.

your breath hitched in your throat as miguel gazed at you through thick eyelashes, feeling like you could just about drown in his warm chocolate-brown eyes. his touch on your face was so subtle; yet had an almost embarrassing effect on you. 

“me too miguel.” you smiled back shyly, biting your bottom lip. 

“and hey - this isn’t all too bad either!” you laughed, gesturing to the small frame around you. 

“mhm. not bad at all.” miguel said softly, his eyes not leaving yours for a second. he leaned down so his face was a breath away from yours. 

“can i kiss you hermosa?” he breathed, now looking down at your lips.

“please.”

without a second’s further hesitation, miguel closed the gap between you. kissing you gently yet passionately, his hands trailed down to meet your hip, pressing it against his own. your soft whimpers only drove miguel crazier, slipping his tongue into your mouth. your hands seemed to have a mind of their own, your shyness melting away as they entangled themselves in his thick curls. he groaned against your mouth, becoming sloppier as he heard your own desperation. you threw your head back as you became lost in the pleasure, 

“miguel.” you whined, needing more. 

“i know, i know amor.” he murmured against your neck, nibbling at it gently. he groaned as he withdrew his head slowly, wiping off his mouth with the back of his hand. laughing quietly, he shook his head.

“fuck. you’re gonna make me crazy.” 

you grinned lopsidedly, admiring the flushed look on his face. you rubbed the back of your neck, breathing slowly in an attempt to calm yourself down.

“you’re good at that, ya know?”

he cocked his head, smirking.

“yeah. i know.” he leant back into the wall, crossing his arms.

“and uh… you know it stopped raining right?”

“when?!” you frowned, realising it was true. you hadn’t even noticed the change in weather, too caught up in your own little world. 

“right around the time i asked to kiss you. but uh, we were already pretty occupied so i figured the weather could wait.” he shrugged.

“but now we can actually go ahead with our original plans.” he laughed, grabbing your hand.  

you bit your lip as you looked up at him, trying to hide your huge cheesy smile. 

“yes please - but i’m expecting another kiss. no matter the weather!”
