hi, i just want to let everyone know, if any of you are frustrated with the state of TS4, i've compiled several different tutorials and made an all-in-one guide for playing TS2 on modern computers. it has all the fixes necessary to prevent crashes + pink flashing, and tips to make the game look just as nice as TS4, if not better!

please let me know if this guide is useful for you, or if anything needs to be changed/added/removed. i've tested it myself on multiple computers, and, while it works for me, there are many possibilities for error, considering that everyone's computer is different.

Desperate PC Tenno calling for help!

Calling all the tech-savvy players here on Tumblr who may hopefully lend me and tech support a hand. Yes, the situation is that bad. More under the cut to spare a lengthy wall of text!

I've been experiencing totally random and sudden crashes with WF since a month and half, by now.

The game first freezes for less than a minute, then crashes to desktop bringing up the window to report crashes. This happens literally anywhere and anytime in the game. During mission, at the end of the mission, while idling in the Orbiter/base of operations, sitting in the pause menu, checking the settings menu. All kind of possible scenarios. Ah, and DX11 or DX12 make no difference either.

It's driving me - and tech support - insane. Because it is so HARD to pinpoint the root cause! Every log file so far has reported some kind of General Protection Failure (GPF) error followed by different numbers.

I'm running the game on a brand new, pre-built computer from Megaport. Which I moved to from my old potato of a PC back in late November. Specs are the following: Windows 11 Home (build 24H2) Intel Core I7-12700KF, 8x 3.60 Ghz + 4x 2.70 Ghz ASUS Prime Z790-A Wifi DDR5 NVidia GeForce RTX 4070 Dual Palit 12GB 2x 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5-6000 1 TB SSD 1000 Watt PSU

I have done everything tech support has suggested me to do and: - Uninstalled and re-installed the game, - Update drivers. Being a new computer, everything is pretty much up to date. I had to do a clean install for the GPU drivers only using DDU, though, - Verified game files, - Emptied the shader cache on the drive game is saved to, - Repaired Steam library, - Lowered graphic settings, - Attempted to launch and run Warframe in Clean Boot mode to exclude background programs/services <- unsuccessfully; Steam didn't work at all (which I kind of figured would happen) and trying to launch the game straight from the launcher...triggered a download of the game files in the App Data folder on main (C) drive. O_o The random crashes don't even appear in the Windows Event Viewer. Nowhere to be found. And believe me, I have looked into every single category. I've been keeping track of the time(s) of the crashes but, alas, found nothing that could possibly be related to those. (also, I'm not a computer expert so perhaps I'm doing things wrong)

So far, the only weird thing I've noticed is...Most of the times there seemingly is a "break" in between each series of crashes. A few days at worst, 10-12 days at best. Yes, I checked even the Task Scheduler utility on Windows. Found no program/app that runs automatically that matches with the timing/days when the crashes have occurred so far.

Really losing my mind to this. It's frustrating, it's unnerving, it's making me genuinely terrified of playing the game. And the reason I got this PC in the first place was being finally able to play my favorite game without worrying about being unable to because of my old (and obsolete) machine! Because I don't know when the next crash shall decide to happen and oh boy it's gonna be so fun losing progress. Or having a couple of players reasonably angry at me for suddenly poofing as host. I'm really sorry about that, folks.

I'm already considering the option of total formatting this computer, should there be no other way. But not before entirely giving up. And maybe make things a little less complicated for tech support team.

I can't thank these guys enough for their help and most importantly patience over the past month and half. This mess has been handed to three different people already and a solution hasn't been found yet.

So, if there are fellow Tenno on Tumblr who have either experienced something like this before and found a fix or are just more knowledgeable about computers and whatnot, your help would be GREATLY appreciated. ;.;

EDIT: I forgot to mention a few important things! - Hardware temperatures are within optimal range while in game (CPU never above 65°C, GPU has been running ice cold and has rarely exceeded 50°C so far, RAM is chilling at 45°C average). - GPU memory usage averages around at max (peak) 77% on HWInfo. - CPU usage I honestly need to check! D: - Ran disk cleanup, scans with sfc, chkdsk and DISM (all through command prompts ran as admin) and no issues were found. - Checked RAM health as well with Windows' memory diagnostic tool. However, it seems to give many false positives even on perfectly functional RAM banks. Looking for a more reliable alternative. - Warframe is the only game that keeps crashing on this PC. I haven't been getting any with other games/programs (Hades II; need to test how Ultrakill performs) or any warning signs (BSODs, freezes, sluggish PC, etc) that could suggest hardware failure.

The navigation system on the SR 71, with its sensitive missions, had to depend on a system that couldn’t be affected by electronic jamming. The Astro inertial Navigational System (ANS) was dependent on the stars. At least two different stars were required. ANS was accurate to 100 the of a second, supplying Greenwich Mean Time( GMT) and the Julian date. Because of the ANS, it was possible to know precisely where the SR 71 was over the ground.

I now understand what my father, Butch Sheffield, meant when he said, I am sure that Bob Spencer and I flew directly over the North Pole.

They used nine-inch distortion-free quartz glass. It was located in front of the air refueling station, and the Quarts were 1 1/2 inches thick.

Star tracking was automatic. However, the RSO could assist the system in overcoming conditions, such as overcast changes in sky background brightness, long periods of ground time, and air fueling when the boom obscures the tracking window.

Hello simmers! I need help, the sims 4 won’t launch after the most recent update.

Here’s what’s happening

-I play sims on windows 10/11, through the EA app

-after the latest sims update, when I click “play” in the EA app, it just says “preparing game” and then nothing happens

-I checked task manager and TS4.exe never shows up under apps or under background process, not under details

-I also tried going directly to my sims 4 folder and running TS4_x64.exe manually, but once again nothing happens, no error messages either

Here’s what I already tried:

• Repaired the game in EA App

• Cleared EA App cache (Help → App Recovery → Clear Cache)

• Restarted my computer

And it feels like my game is stuck now

Other notes:

• I have several packs and quite a bit of mods and cc but this has never been a problem up until now.

•EA is updated to the latest version

FFXIV players on Windows! (This is Windows 10 but it should work in 11?)

If you get a crash with an error message that says something like

[bunch of gibberish].dll

There is a very simple fix. Start by closing all programs you have running. Then...

1) Run Command Prompt as Administrator. To run as Administrator, once you find Command Prompt, right click it, and select "Run As Administrator." If you get a pop-up asking if you're sure, say "yes."

2) Copy paste the following command into Command Prompt:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

Press Enter.

Wait until the computer is done.

3) type or copy paste in the following command:

sfc /scannow

Press Enter

Wait for the computer to finish. This may take a while, so, go for a walk, read a book, use your phone, idk, stuff that's not on your PC.

And done!

Tl;Dr explanation of what's going on: sometimes system files get wonky when a program updates a lot, such as when you have a new MMO xpac that's updating. This gives your computer clean copies to compare to, scans for broken copies, & then fixes the broken ones.

So, does anybody know what "LFA update failed" means?

Those of you who've been around for awhile know that I play my game on an internetless Windows 7 machine, copy story snaps and albums to flashdrive, walk it across the hall to the internet machine, use the Sims 2 Storybook Album utility by roachandlazygirl to open the album, and copy the text over. Then if I've made any changes to the album I can save them and walk them back across the hall to replace the old one.

I got interrupted before I finished writing up the story album at the end of the vacation, so I was updating it while posting, working back and forth. I finished queueing up the whole vacation, tried to save, and got "LFA update failed" instead. No saving. So I started laboriously opening posts to "edit" to copy them back, but when I tried to save I got the same error.

This is BS and I am not down with it.

I have done this lots of times and this is a new error - in fact, it's the first time I've ever had the Storybook Reader fail to save. But we have a new internet computer with - 10 or 11, I don't remember. It's almost certainly Windows BS. But how do I fix it, that is the question?

So - help? There was some hefty dialog on this vacation, you'll recall, and it should not be lost to the ether!

did you know windows 10 updates sometimes throw hissy fits with USB things and get stuck booting up when they're still plugged in. I did not know this. my next steps were a) physically reinstalling vital components as per the error codes my motherboard was showing me and b) taking it to a professional and hoping, so I am absolutely a puddle of relief right now.

(also very hungry and in need of a cup of tea and stress has pushed several things I needed to do a day later, but I can work with that)
