It’s this time of the year again, folks. Time to wrap up the art Ive made in the last 12 months in another Year in Review! I’ve noticed that this is my fifth Year in Review in a row, so I’ll be making an extra post looking back on the progress in those last 5 years!

I've got a lot to say about this year, but purely art wise, I've gone all when it comes to comics, damn! I've kinda found a format that is messy, and therefore more time efficient, yet still looks good. I even made 2 animatics and lotsa shorts/reels! All that on top of opening coms twice, and, oh yeah, MAKING A WHOLE ASS 4MIN ANIMATION ON MY OWN.

How is my hand still alive.

2023 has been….interesting, to say the least. The first half year I was working on my thesis project, aka making an animated short all on my own (in the art department), which makes it honestly surprising how much I managed to churn out between animating. Trigun rly did have me in a choke hold.

Summer was a bit more spotty, esp. with me not being able to draw anything during August as I was writing my thesis (and doing commissions). And towards the end of the year, Kingdom Hearts tried to save me, but alas, Genshin Impact has finally sunk its teeth into me and dragged me to the bottom of the rabbit hole. It all started with me watching a story summary and lore videos while I was sick after my thesis and I was too intrigued to not dig deeper and well, first I fell in love with Kaeya and then the ships started dropping in left and right.

I’m not gonna lie, the last few months have been weird. I finished my masters in October, and have been on job hunt since, sadly without success so far. I’m existing in this weird limbo of still not grasping I’m not a student anymore after 18 years in education, not really being able to accept I’m an adult, yet desperately trying to find something so I can make a routine, cos rn Im too scared to build a rhythm as I know I’ll have a so much harder time readjusting again. It’s left me in a weird emotional state, where most of the time I feel fine, but when it counts, there’s just, nothing. No joy at getting my diploma, no anticipation to finally go to a convention again, neither any sadness hearing my grandfather died. It frustrates me that it extends to my art as well, there’s excitement over ideas and concepts, but no motivation to pick up the pencil, which makes me either not finish art at all or making so many shortcuts and just ending up with sth not satisfactory to me since it’s not the idea I sought after.

Tho, not everything is doom and gloom. I DID finish a whole ass short animation and got my masters degree, that IS sth to be proud of. Also, while Im struggling at drawing, I’ve also kinda started integrating my shortcuts into my style and some stuff I’ve thrown together actually turns out real good nowadays. Also, and this might be a bit of a weird one, I’m so fucking happy to know I can still enjoy gay ships. I’ve been a bit uncertain over the last few years because when I was around 16-18, I had a real big yaoi phase, which mostly came from the fact so much stuff came out that tickled my brain in the right way (Free, Haikyuu, etc.). But over the years, my enthusiasm died down, and I even started to resent some ships because it’s all some fandoms produced. I often found myself liking a hetero ship more than the popular gay ship, which really made me not wanna stick around because I did not care for most fanart and you can only go through a tag with art you don’t care about so long before you lose interest. I think in retrospect that it rly had nothing to do with the ships being gay ships but rather cos the fans just shoved it in your face when you didn’t care (and shipping culture nowadays also can get real scary). But I’m so happy to see I can still get obsessed with a ship and it’s all thanks to Haikaveh/Kavetham. It really just needed the right flavour for me to dig in again. And oh my god, I FINALLY like a ship with a SHIT TON of art and fanfictions, no more scrounging the crumbs from the bottom of the barrel. 

Anyways, enough lamenting. Here’s to hoping I can bite my tongue and get shit started properly in 2024, and that my brainrots may make me obsessed enough to churn out an obscene amount of fanart again.

Iwaizumi: The practical allrounder. Can cook most things in theory and quite well. The food itself doesn't always look pretty but he always adds plenty off flavours and spice. Good enough to add his owns twist on recipes too. Learnt the basics from his parents and then most of his recipes he found and adapted himself. Had to fend for himself cooking wise as a teen and has been cooking since then. LOVES cooking for his s/o and his friends and family. Big smiles, holding his head high with a little blush when you compliment his food or cooking skills. Big on nutritional meals too and researching how to make them healthy and delicious. It's the athletic trainer coming out.

Bokuto: The rising star. A learning curve in his teen years with a few messes and averted disasters but a pretty good cook in adulthood. Taught by his mama and big sisters (one is a bit of disaster the other is very good). Genuinly loves cooking and I think finds he loves it more once he learns a bit about nutritional aspects at college/through V.League. Doesn't always follow recipes but somehow is food always tastes amazing. You can tell he puts love into his cooking. His dishes burst with flavour. Dancing in the kitching while cooking you breakfast in nothing but his briefs? Yep! That's him. He's also the guy in the kitchen with mama and gran at family events helping cook all the meals and getting in on the family gossip. He's also really good at mixing drinks but will make them a really strong ratio that have a great taste (they knock you on your ass too).

Atsumu: The somethings always off menace. He can cook in theory. He and Osamu grew up in the same household after all but there's always something up with his dishes. He puts too much spice in there or not enough. Overcooks it, undercooks it, burns it—never can get the timing right. See Atsumu cooks with with the same love Osamu does but with none of the same care. You can get something edible out of his dishes most of the time though. He just doesn't have the same skill or dedication so it's a bit more basic. Better at doing the quick breakfasts or if he's doing dinner he's doing the curries and egg rice omelets. Less likely to overcook things then because they're a bit easier. He can do onigiri too though just not the fancy tasty ones Osamu does. If you compliment his cooking though he will love you forever! This man lives off words of affirmation and praise lol.

Kageyama: The basics otherwise a disaster. Can definitely cook rice after his sister taught him how to use a rice cooker. He needed to know once he moved out of home. Can fry up vegetables in a pan and make other basic dishes. Although the first time he cooked with oil in a pan he burnt the top of his hand the poor boy. Why did no one warn him not to turn the heat up too high and that hot oil can bubble up like that? (Miwa totally did Tobio sweetie! He was just so hungry at the time he wasn't paying close enough attention). He panicked so much for his poor setter hands he didn't use the pan for days. Called his sister to come to Tokyo. She laughed her ass off at him because he eyed the pan like a skittish cat. Totally a pro now though. Not great at big recipes and dishes. Just basic basic things. Also doesn't like cooking things he has to monitor for long periods of time. Just makes sure all the food groups are there. Meat? Check. Veges? Check. Throw in pan. Add sauce/spice. Done. Eat with rice. lol. Simple. Panics if you ask him to cook for you. Just kind of goes 'I only know how to cook me things.' as in his basic ass bitch meals lmao.

Kunimi: The lazy king of life hacks. Learnt how to make tasty meals in a rice cooker from his dorm room. Hacked his way out of social interactions and walking anywhere once he found out that even if he got food delivered he'd have to walk downstairs to go get it. Big on easy noodle meals like your ramens, rice noodles, potato noodles, etc. Doesn't like too much spice and prefers adding a bit of sugar to his dishes. When he's got access to the facilities (like as a teen at home or an adult out of the dorms) he will make certain kinds of minimal effort desserts once in awhile. When he's craving certain sweets like fudge that you can just chuck somewhere cool to set. Not super big on baking but likes the end reward of it. Doesn't like super involved cooking by himself but is more willing to be part of the process with someone else like a s/o or friends/family. Has to be someone close who can convince him to do it though or he will just watch from the sidelines. Prefers easy but tasty recipes and is very good at perfecting his own. Want something quick and delicious? Kunimi is your man.

Kenma: Can't cook but can kind of bake wildcard. Growing up he never had to do anything like helping out with the cooking. Knows how to boil water and pour it into a noodle cup. Knows how to cook rice in a cooker from Kuroo showing him a volleyball camp. Knows how to grill meat and put things in hot pot from outings. Would overcook things because he's so anxious it wouldn't be cooked enough that he'd leave it too long. Just hates the idea of him cooking anyway because he's worried he'll mess it up and it makes him anxious. Might try if you show him basic things and don't just leave him on his own. Baking though, that is something he did want to be apart of growing up. Used to be that kid sitting in front of the oven waiting for his pies to bake. Liked helping mixing and putting everything together. The smell of things baking really relaxes him.

HAIKYUU BOYS AS [MODERN] HIGH SCHOOL BOYS a/n: i'm talking about a level of realism that has been ignored for so long, but super accurate because i am in high school and i know everything. keep in mind, they are teenage boys! they're not angels! they're evil incarnate.

ATSUMU ➢ the guy who carries around the speaker it's the big jbl speaker with the strap. always playing drake, uzi vert, carti, the weeknd, or 21 savage – sometimes there's a sprinkle of UK drill or afro beats. on the way to class there's always something playing.

HANAMAKI ➢ the guy who never shows up we all question how he managed to graduate. the last time he's attended a full week of school was when he was 15. he skips days on end, and shows up on his study hall days.

MATSUKAWA ➢ the plug he's stocked up. disposable vapes, e-liquid, cigarettes, weed. whatever his friends, or underclassmen needs, he's got. he pockets all his lunch money, is not stingy with prices, but always has the best flavours.

SUNA ➢ always late to class he walks slow. in the morning, he takes a detour around the school showing up 25 minutes late and blames it on the bus. always late to exams, and teachers have given up on him.

KUROO ➢ the whore he pulls, and is famous for it. a sort of playboy with charm but bad pick-up lines and doesn't know how to flirt. it's amazing how he gets by with the lack of game.

YAMAGUCHI ➢ the guy who gets adopted by a group of girls there's always one. it's a group of girls that have made him their own, he gets invited to the girls nights in, he knows all the gossip and drama. he watched pen15 when he was younger, and now realised how accurate it is.

IWAIZUMI ➢ dry as fuck don't try to talk to this guy. he doesn't speak unless you're close friends. he's super quiet and just kind of stares. he is dry as fuck, there's no way anyone – other than the bros – can have a proper conversation with him.

OIKAWA ➢ takes P.E / gym too seriously we get it! you like sports, but calm the fuck down. when people find out they're sharing a class with him, they groan and dread it. he's too competitive for his own good and easily becomes the enemy.

AKAASHI ➢ the IB student. complains about work load and getting a five on his summative. hates CAS but consistently meets expectations, wrote his extended essay in a night. says he needs to study but spends more time partying on the weekends. he can be an academic and still be a normal (popular) high school guy, remember that.

Idk if you’re american but the idea of an American SO bringing either MHA or Haikyuu (aged up ofc) boys who are from Japan to a Target but one of the Targets that are HUGE with like two levels???? i dunno.

My haikyuu version of this idea says like Tendo, Oikawa, Hinata, and Bokuto would FUCKING thrive and the MHA version says like Denki, Sero, Kiri and weirdly Todoroki would be SO into it 😭😭😭
