Betty Boop and the funny trumpet guys

these were drawn by grim natwick who animated on the fleischer cartoons from 1930-1931
fleischer was always more surreal, exciting, runchy, edgy than it's peers at least before the hays code

grim designed and created betty and also did the cutest drawings of her especially in this cartoon

much more flexible and free than later one
grim draws his characters as these weird little vile bendy surreal creatures and i like that! it added even favour more to the fleischer cartoons he worked on

Quick sketches since I've had the urge to draw all day but I also have classes that I need to pay attention to lol

I've also never drawn Choso before, so forgive what he looks like lmao
Also, small info dump about horns and spikes since I think a lot and have words to say lol
Horns are, a) always on the head, and b) always attached/grow out of the skull. They themselves are bone
Spikes (like the ones in Yuuji's back) are NOT attached to any part of the skeleton. They're attached to the body via skin, tissue, cartilage, muscle, etc, but not to bones directly
Yuuji ripping his horn out straight up left a hole in his skull for a little bit. He's lucky he can heal wounds like that

I've seen the point made several times that Katniss seems to sometimes withhold information from her narration she would want to keep privete. Not only do I think that is VERY true it makes so much sense.
The series is just a run on tale of Katniss and her life being used to further others goals until it destroys most of her. To me her recounting this story and saving some details for herself...that makes sense. Her not wanting to talk or explore much about Peetas personal life and family makes sense. Her not telling us her childrens names makes sense. The details of her and Peeta growing back together makes sense. ALL that kind of stuff that, with all the other details she puts elsewhere make us wonder why she didn't mention any of this?
It almost show to us how important they MIGHT have been because she keeps it from us when we know how detailed she can be. Katniss decides to keep this for herself.

i have this aikido book for some reason
ive never done aikido
until this book appeared in my house i didnt know aikido was a thing
long story short, the illustrations in it are awesome and fluid and have become my warm ups
which then turn into turtles (as you do)

i spent all yesterday making a semi-realistic slugcat base. i used sphinx cats as a reference, so they’re pretty cat like here
i imagine they hold themselves different than an actual cat though, plus more robust shoulders for bipedal-ism
this is the survivor btw :) i think i’ll do monk next

The hisuian language is so cool! What was your process for making a conlang? It’s pretty interesting.
step 1: What am I making the language for?
step 2: What do I want the language to sound/feel like?
step 3: build phonology (sound library) based of desired sound/feel/background as well as establishing basic phonotactics (how the sounds work with each other)
step 4: establish basic grammar and syntax rules (word order, heading, tonals or not, language type (aggulgantive, fusional, synthetic etc), conjugations, and many more)
step 5: formulate an orthography (writing system)
step 6: mash sounds together to make words, derive, reference, build out the dictionary
step 7: number system
step 8: do step 6 till you have a full dictionary
