MegaRod 2023 Day 5: Confessions / { Pining }

When Rodimus pats his lap with a grin, Megatron just stares at him with bemusement. “Do you want more dents to explain to Ratchet when he has to pull them out of your frame later?”

Rodimus makes that ridiculous 'pffft' noise that everyone on this God-forsaken vessel seems to be able to make and makes some nonsensical motions with her hands in an attempt to explain something that in actuality fails to clarifying absolutely anything. Megatron, master orater, stares harder at Rodimus to convey these feelings.

The smaller red mech groans loudly in response and subvocalizes something about 'old mechs' that Megatron's (admittedly aged, if reluctantly so) battle-damaged audials are barely able to pick up, but what she does hear has her glowering at her almost impossible brat of a co-Captain and itching to reach out and grab him by the collar and give him a good shake...

Gently, of course.

They're stopped before things can reach that point, thankfully, as deceptively keen optics catch the growing ire in her expression and Rodimus immediately switches from his immature grumbling to one of those ridiculous smiles he seems convinced make him look roguishly charming. Unfortunately for Rodimus this only works to stymie Megatron's temper a little, before he finds that he actually quite likes the way the other wears the expression on his faceplate more than previously expected, a fact which only serves to buoy his malcontent.

“I'm not stupid enough to ask you to drop all five tonnes of your glorious frame on me, Megs, I like both my legs attached and unflattened, thank you--”

“--Which leads me to ask you once more--”

Rodimus throws his hands up over his head and groans, “Can we stop bringing Ratchet up in berth unless he's-- y'kmow, a present and active member of whatever it is we have going on?”

Before Megatron can do more than narrow his optics into icy slits, Rodimus manages to finally figure out how to use his words like the several-million years old mech that he is, and not the newframe he pretends at being.

“Just-- come here and put your head in my lap.”

Well then. “What--?”

Now is apparently Rodimus' turn to glare, though in reality the expression reads more akin to a pout by Megatron's standards. Either way, having no real complaint with the request (aside for the fact it was delivered more akin to an order than a request), Megatron simply sighs and climbs in to do just that, trying in vain to ignore the way Rodimus' spoilers wiggle with delight.

For not the first time, Megatron silently thanks the vessel's designers for the decision of an extra large berth in the Captain's quarters, because the just the thought of attempting as much on anything less than a reinforced slab was almost enough to make his joints ache. A thought that disappears the moment they finally situate themselves into a position comfortable for the both of them, which ends up being less of a lap situation and more of some sort of modified stranglehold that featured shiny orange thighs bracketing either side of her helm, one leg tucked beneath her neck in an attempt at more support, while the other was simply tossed over her shoulder to drape across her chassis. The physicsly weight of it is inconsequential to Megatron, but somehow it in combination with the sheer heat radiating from Rodimus's frame (more than usual, background processes note) leaves Megatron feeling oddly pinned in place.

It's... Nice.

Better than nice, really, but a search through her databanks for a more appropriate glyph to use to convey the feelings stirred in Megatron cause her to become uncomfortably aware of the fact that she... could not remember having ever done such a thing before. Which only makes sense considering how large he is and the way he's led his life so far and also his general disposition and outlook on life, but here in the moment it leaves him feeling bereft and unmoored.

Any further thoughts about such things are summarily terminated as searing gold fingers begin to massage stiff neck cables, and lost in his thoughts as he is, it catches him so completely off guard that he fails to stifle his groan of pleasure at their contact. The fingers still where they are and an uncharacteristic emotion dangerously close to panic jolts through his frame-- only to be swept away by another, more confident press of digits that has Megatron melting into the berth, and in turn, Rodimus beneath him.

Miners, though intended to be disposable, had been built with extreme temperatures in mind both due to the nature of their work, as well as in regards to the heat that they themselves produced, so even before the war and all that came with it-- additional armor and then upgrade after upgrade after upgrade-- temperature had never meant much to Megatron, except for when it was inconveniencing others to the point of them inconveniencing him. Until now.

Seldom used background processes that gauge the ambient temperature around him tell him that Rodimus is running hot-- far hotter than usual. Hot enough, theoretically, to warp and blacken the plating of any other mech if they were so foolish as to attempt to touch her at this moment, but all that Megatron feels, the only glyph her processor manages to summon, is warm. A deep, golden warmth that soaks into her processor and captures all of her attention, that seeps into her frame as unexpectedly gentle servos rub soothing circles again knots of tension she hadn't been aware of.

Which brings with it the realization that maybe she hadn't been as immune to temperature as she previously assumed, because she was suddenly hyper-aware of the fact there was a perpetual chill in her chassis-- likely caused by the space bridge technology held within-- it was now gone, banished by the burnished leg branding itself against his chest.

Something inside of Megatron loosens, and the next time he makes a noise worthy of embarrassment, he's in far too deep to care. Optics flutter open without conscious thought, and any assumptions Megatron has about what Rodimus feels about the situation are dashed against the rocks in the face of the pure warmth that beams down across Megatron's visage through form of expression, entirely unrelated to Rodimus' innate heat. Megatron knows this expression, but he cannot comprehend it, because Rodimus is looking at him like he cares.

No, that's not correct, Rodimus always cares-- it's as much a flaw of his as it is a strength. He cares far too much about far too many things. She cares about people and places and things she's seen every cycle or will never see again with an intensity that is as blindingly beautiful as it is foolishly self-destructive. No, the way that Rodimus looks at her now goes beyond that compassion she carries with her like a flag bearer everywhere she goes-- she's looking at her like--

Golden fingers dip beneath her helm and brush carefully against the delicate edges of her sensor crest, and Megatron moans unabashedly, coaxed louder by the golden points of heat stroking against her most sensitive parts. There is no room for shame to take root under that steady blue gaze. Instead, something else does. Something hot and tight unravels behind his chestplate, somhow both already firmly rooted and yet as fragile as spun glass, and begins to ache.

My entry for Starfall this year, Cosmic Roseate!

I'm rather proud of how this one came out to be honest. A bit sad it's in the skin range rather than accent, but oh well.

So is this going to be a series where we ask for what quirks would combo well with a certain character? My entry is Christopher Skyline.

I assume you mean more in the team up sense? In which case, the thing with trying to come up with companion Quirks for "Flight" is that it's a very much a solo act. It's abilities are simple and don't lend themselves as well to working with other Quirks. Still, there are at least some opinions for it.

Lock Down/Chornostasis: So similar idea with these two: applying the stunning affect to the barrier in order to spread it out over a target. The choice comes down to whether or not you consider the barrier an object or part of the user.

Mushroom/Sleep Gas: Another simple one. With the assumption that the barrier would filter out any gases, it could remove a lot of the downsides of having allies around for these powers and have someone take advantage of the weakened foes.

Vibrate: While this can be useful since Captain Celebrity doesn't have to worry about getting hit, his barrier could be used to protect specific structures or people from the massive quakes. That and Shindo when he goes through aftershocks.

Hardening: Okay, this is going to sound more like a meme, but I think it's actually a pretty viable way to use it. That is to say using Kirishima as a weapon, either dropping him on people or swinging him around with the giant baseball bat.

Softening: A rather obvious pairing. Considering how dangerous getting trapped in the mud is, having an ally that can avoid it entirely would be immensely helpful to have. And if anyone tries to get out of the mud, Captain Celebrity can push them right back down.

Twin Impact: Remember how I mentioned applying affects to the barrier? Now, you can do that with a super dangerous impact. Again, this would be most useful via spreading the barrier outwards, like using it to demolish a larger target or person in a single go.

Creation: This is less of a direct interaction between the powers and more one helping the other. With "Flight", Momo could be protect and carried around, keeping her safe while she is trying to make stuff instead. Plus, "Flight" could help with moving objects around, especially larger projects.

Earthflow: So this has a lot of the same points as the other ones. "Flight" can get around a lot of terrain changes, could take pick up and attack with of the chunks of earth moving around, and would cover each other's weak spots. One is a combat focused powerhouse in the air and the other is a monster on the ground.
