When you aren't looking
Disclaimer: Hello! This is my first ever piece on this website so I hope it reaches the right audience! I'm still a little new to this so if you have any tips for how to get better accustomed to the app I'd be happy to learn!
I've recently had a hyperfixation on Dan Heng so hopefully this expresses my love for him psfjdhfjsj HELP THERE'S A FEW SPELLING MISTAKES
TW: Might be a little sad, Dan Heng ignores reader due to his feelings, Dan Heng hopelessly in love with you and terrified of his feelings towards you. Readers birthday, mwah!
Dan Heng couldn't comprehend it. His feelings for you have skyrocketed and he can't help but get a feeling at the bottom of his stomach whenever he sees you.
He doesn't like what you've done to him these past few months since you first joined him and the others. He couldn't find it in his heart to trust you after the effect you had on him so drastically but he also couldn't help not let you into his heart through your caring actions towards the others. How you communicate with March 7th, it makes his heart flutter and the way you make coffee for Himeko before her waking up.
He wonderered what you haven't done to make everyone's life just that inch more easier. Even Pom Pom adored you in their own little way.
What really hit the nail on the coffin for Dan Heng was when you found him awake in the dead of night when even Welt himself was asleep. You carefully approached him with a careful hand on his shoulder, making him shiver whenever he remembers the event.
"Would you like a cup of coffee? Tea, perhaps?" he knew you could see the bags under his eyes and the messy nest ontop of his head, yet all you did was offer him a hot beverage. You could have told him to go to sleep but he knew you knew that would have done nothing. And for that, he slowly started opening up to you. From a distance that is.
You had in fact won him over but his crippling fear of rejection stopped him. He couldn't face you again after he came to the conclusion he doesn't feel the same way he does with you with Himeko or March for example. How would you react if you saw him smile ever so gently whenever you help someone or whenever you explain to March why Welt has his phone brightness too high and can't change it due to his lack of expertise in mobile phones, causing March to giggle and try take Welt's phone.
So, he began to ignore you. And it did hurt him to see March come in his room without you because he simply couldn't see you. You had caught on quite quickly after the 3rd or 4th time he kept making excuses to not being able to spend time with you.
As time passed, your birthday was finally here and of course you felt horrible because this amazing boy was ignoring you, and of course you told March who felt the need to scold him personally and escort, as she frased it the, "Sorry Looking Emo Potato Salad" to the meeting held in place for your birthday. He of course had said previously that he was busy sorting out the files of the new monsters you had stumbled across and it would take the whole day. You felt your eyes tear up when he came in startled and with a face full of shame and desire to run away from the situation.
"March.. It's okay, he said he was busy. Honestly, Dan Heng it's okay, go do what you have to do." it angered you that the one you most wanted to spend your birthday with couldn't be bothered but your interest rised when he pulled out a little dark green envelope and a blue bag with a Happy Birthday plastered on it. It looked like his handwriting so perhaps it almost made up for him ignoring you all this time. Almost.
"Oh..? Thank you Dan Heng! I know you've been really busy these few weeks. So I appreciate it!" you were still upset but alot less now that you've seen the boy and you had a beautifully wrapped gift inside from him, there was shredded navy blue tissue paper covering the top.
"Happy Birthday Y/N. I'm sorry I haven't seen you much. I have to go now. If you don't like it or it isn't right, come to my room later tonight. I want you to open the envelope and my present last, please."
With that, the boy was off again. And instead of the feeling of sadness and hurt wash over you, you felt quite happy and curious for what he could have gotten you.
"Well that was weird.. Oh Y/N, Y/N!! Look at my gift!" you went on and started opening the rest of your presents, almost forgetting about the raven haired boy and his mysterious envelope and present.
After the little party, you found yourself ecstatic. You were going to have a sleepover with March after you got dressed and changed your out of your beautiful birthday outfit. Himeko wouldn't stop complimenting you and your colour combinations. It made you feel special.
Just as you were about to leave, from the corner of your eye, you see the little bag. You had put the envelope inside and from there you took it upstairs, having a quick chat with Welt and then changing.
You picked it up and saw a rectangular box, as you carefully tear off the paper, you see a stunning pair of earrings, they matched your everyday work outfit and still stood out, in the light shining your favourite shade of (F/C). You felt so full and empty at the same time, these must have cost a fortune but they were so fricking pretty. They made you laugh softly.
You had only discovered your feelings for him a week before he started disappearing on you. You made him that hot beverage and took him to his room, helping him put the last of his data he had collected and took his mug when he was finished. That moment was so domestic and made you strangely happy. You couldn't see yourself doing that for anyone other than March and you loved her like a sister.
The envelope caught your attention, as you begin to open it you hear a knock at your door, "Y/N! Are you coming?" March did have a habit of being impatient.
"Yes! One second, I'll be right there March." as she walked away, you opened the envelope, noticing the little pattern engraved onto the paper inside and on the envelope itself. It had a scent to it, as if Dan Heng himself hugged the letter and it caught his perfume.
Dear Y/N,
I'm sorry I've been so distant lately. I've grown to like you more than a friend would, and it hurts me every time I ignore you and you hurt. I've been afraid of rejection almost my entire life and I could not stand to lose another person I have grown to love. If you do not feel the same way, please ignore this letter. I just felt the need to explain myself because you deserve it. I've been selfish.
Yours, Dan Heng.
You've never sped walked to his room faster.

Note
A monarch butterfly flies around my body this morning. And, then, when I open my Tumblr app, I see the photos of monarch butterflies without even searching for it. (Ps. It is the first post I see in my Tumblr acc.)
Hello Anon, so I see you may have found my page due to tags like divine signs, synchronicities, etc. I don't know what is currently happening in your life but this is what I could find regarding the spiritual meanings of the monarch butterfly, which is said to be the king of butterflies. Universally, butterflies in many cultures are seen as messengers of those who have passed from this physical life. Note that all animal/insect/plant signs can have individual meanings to us all depending on our own experiences, culture, species and therefore appearances, etc. For example, some non migrating Monarch Butterfly populations travel to Florida due to the tropical milkweed found throughout southern Florida. Other Monarch populations may travel to coastal California to spend the winter there. Western Monarch populations don't travel in large groups. The Monarch Butterfly can travel as long as 200 miles a day and can fly at higher altitudes, due to them flying through the Rocky Mountains.
More notably so, some of the Monarch Butterfly populations are known for traveling to what's known as the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve in Mexico and tend to arrive there close to when the Day of the Dead/Día de los Muertos is celebrated throughout Mexico. What sets the Monarch Butterfly apart (especially the migratory populations) from other butterflies is the very long migration from throughout the United States and southern Canada to this very same place in Mexico; the monarch's dangerous and long migration to this sanctuary can in ways be a message to remain steadfast even when facing difficult circumstances in life. Many butterflies unfortunately do not survive this long trip.
Tumblr media
On another note regarding the symbolism of the Monarch Butterfly in Central America, the Aztec cult of the feathered serpent deity Quetzalcoatl was said to require the sacrifice of hummingbirds and butterflies. I bring this up because interestingly enough, the temple of Quetzalcoatl in Teotihuacan, Mexico is about 2 and a half hours away from this butterfly reserve.
Tumblr media
According to well+good, seeing a monarch butterfly fluttering around you as you described may point to major internal changes you will soon discover. Having one land on you can mean you are ready for changes to happen and are on the right path. The Monarch can represent a need to trust the journey, trust the process of this upcoming internal transformation (or what is already happening). Overall the Monarch butterfly is a sign of strength, endurance, spirituality, trust, transformation, evolution, and strengthening your beliefs.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, Monarch populations have seen a great decline since the 1990s due to pesticide use, elimination of milkweed vegetation, climate change and overall logging and construction development that result in the shrinking of Monarch overwintering sites. Los Angeles saw under 2,000 Monarchs in 2020 and for years before under 30,000, according to the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation. For some encouraging news in 2021 however, they counted over 100,000 Monarchs the highest they had seen in years. Still, in winter 2023-2024 there were 59% less East Migratory Monarchs in the Mexican butterfly reserve compared to the previous year.
Perhaps this encounter of yours with the Monarch Butterfly along with the first post on Tumblr you saw featuring a Monarch Butterfly could mean also that the deity Quetzalcoatl is trying to speak to you. If you are able to do so, also consider having a butterfly garden to help with the butterfly populations as well?
Thanks for the ask Anon. I always love hearing about signs like this happening back to back, as this is a divine sign of good things if you ask me ♥

Native Plants and You
I know what you're thinking. "Gardening is for old ladies! All these plants look the same! The sun wreaks havoc on my delicate skin! I have hay fever!" and so on. Listen. This'll only take five minutes and your brain will be HUGE and everyone will be super impressed by your Plant Knowledge at cocktail parties.*
You probably already know that suburban sprawl and the introduction of invasive species is destroying habitats and threatening species, big deal. But! Did you know that you can massively impact food, shelter, and nesting availability for local wildlife with just a few landscaping choices? Too good to be true you say? ONWARD!
Choose Beneficial Natives
Not all plants are created equal. Not only do native plants provide superior nutrition and shelter for your native wildlife species but they are also Host Plants for their delicate lifecycles (even more delicate than your sun-starved skin!).
Tumblr media
FOR EXAMPLE. Did you know that the Monarch Butterfly lays its eggs exclusively on Milkweed plants? And they're not just being divas about it. Lots of butterflies and moths have specialized host plants necessary for their lifecycle.
Can you guess how many types of butterfly the famed Butterfly Bush hosts? Go ahead and guess. I'll wait.
ZERO. BECAUSE IT'S INTRODUCED FROM ASIA AND IS USELESS.
So! You can support your favorite species by providing their particular host plants, or go with the heaviest hitters for your ecoregion. But if that sounds like too much work, or if you prefer rampant destruction to carefully nurturing life, the next heading is for you!
Remove Invasive Species
Invasive species are the worst! Non-native plants don't contribute to the lifecycle of our native species and are less nutritionally suited to them (essentially pollinator potato chips). But beyond being generally useless, invasive species actively overtake and out-compete the native plants, destroying habitats right under your nose!
Tumblr media
Fortunately, Mother Nature is a Total Beast, and when invasives are removed you will often find struggling, overtaken natives beneath, which will thrive and reclaim the space once their sunlight-sucking neighbors are dealt with.
So grab your trusty Plant ID app and some Implements of Destruction and GO FORTH MY MINIONS!
(But please don't use chemicals. They kill pollinators and poison their food. T_T)
And if you think you're exempt from all of this because all you have is a tidy patch of well-kept grass YOU WOULD BE WRONG.
Your Lawn is a Capitalist Fallacy
Lawns are pollinator deserts. There's no food, no shelter, and I guarantee whatever variety of grass you have is non-native. (And if you're sitting over there all smug like "Hey I have Kentucky Bluegrass, that sounds native to Kentucky, and I am in Kentucky," YOU'RE WRONG AGAIN because it's native range is Europe and north Asia and you've been BAMBOOZLED by the Evil Lawn Industry!)
Tumblr media
Now I do not begrudge anyone a smol patch of turf for hosting their posh Victorian Garden Parties, but depending on the size of your croquet tournaments most of that space could probably be put to better use.
And imagine not having to mow it! And having butterflies fluttering about! And birds feasting on the seeds and bugs! And the buzz of adorable native bees!
(I don't mean honeybees, btw. They're European livestock and your native bees are WAY cuter. But that's another post).
The End
CONGRATULATIONS. YOUR BRAIN IS BIGGER. YOUR COCKTAIL PARTY GAME HAS BEEN UPPED. And the next time someone says they want to put up a lovely Norway Spruce hedge, you can say "Well ACKshually..." and expose them for the frauds they are!
Er, unless you're in Norway.

lost in translation (ch 10)
a (non-exhaustive) list of differences or cultural references i noted down for the translation of chapter 10 while watching the chn and eng versions side-by-side. previously i did the same thing for chapter 9.
disclaimer: i am not fluent in chinese, so keep in mind that there will be mistakes. feel free to let me know if you have questions, concerns, or comments.
overall: not too much stood out to me. after looking back on my comments on ch 9, i guess there was less awkwardness in this chapter's translation since i didn't really make a notice things like clunky grammar or sentences. i feel like most of these examples are more like fun facts or nitpicking rather than things i really feel like i need to correct.
rhinoceros horn
心有灵犀一点通, or just 心有灵犀, is a well-known idiom that uses the rhinoceros horn as a metaphor. the idiom definition from the pleco dictionary app:
(idiom) hearts which beat in unison are linked; hearts linked as one, just as the proverbial rhinoceros communicates emotion telepathically through his single horn (idiom); fig. two hearts beat as one
so it can be used to describe people who are connected or very in sync. and here's the description of the rhino horn, also from a pleco definition:
magic horn (i.e. rhinoceros horn with its threadlike white core, mentioned in old texts as having a high sensibility)—heartbeat in unison 身无彩凤双飞翼, 心有灵犀一点通。(李商隐《无题》) Shēn wú cǎi fèng shuāngfēi yì, xīn yǒu língxī yīdiǎn tōng. For bodies no fluttering side by side of splendid phoenix wings, | Between hearts the one minute thread from root to tip of the magic horn. (The second line is often quoted as meaning a meeting of minds.)
the white threadlike core connecting each end of the horn is why it's used as a metaphor for connection; considering this imagery, having the horn hold the wick of a candle also makes perfect sense.
i know the story focused on the role of the rhinoceros horn in 异苑 "Bizarre Gardens", but i'm not familiar with the work so i won't try to add beyond the game's explanation :') i'm just noting the reference that i was aware of
10-1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
no issues with the translation, but there's a bit of wordplay in the chinese version. translated more literally, it would be something like "and once the round was over, the pawn [棋子] simply became something to be discarded [弃子】." the bolded words are near-homophones, both pronounced "qizi" with just a difference in tone.
10-3
the number four is seen as unlucky in chinese culture (and other east asian cultures) since its pronunciation sounds like the word for "death". by extension, the number 14 is also unlucky, which is why prankster started the "ghost" appearances on the 14th floor of the building.
general note on translation; a lot of times in the narration, short descriptors are lost in the process of chn -> eng, probably since the full translation would make the sentence a bit unwieldy. usually it's not super important or the the meaning that it carries is made redundant through other context. for example, in 10-3, when they're discussing the culprit of the mischief in the office:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this contains the phrase "artem, who [the culprit] hates". this could be considered redundant through context (because why else would someone be targeting artem in this way?) but in eng, they don't specify this as it does in the original text.
another example in 10-5 when they confront the fortuneteller:
Tumblr media
there were a few adverbs dropped from the translation in this section. i picked this one since it had the most change; in chn, she casually glances over it, but in eng, she "inspects" it which sounds much more thorough.
10-13
Tumblr media
陆景和一改刚才冷峻严肃的模样,直接不顾形象地斜坐在会议室的长桌上。 Marius changes from his cold demeanor from earlier, and he sits down at the long table in the conference room with no regard for his image.
i... feel like the meaning got flipped to its opposite meaning and it's so puzzling that i'm still wondering if i'm just interpreting it wrong?? hence my typing out the chn text too, so other people can check it as well. i even tried a few different machine translations but this is still my conclusion. anyway, if my analyses so far are correct, this would be the second time that marius's personality becomes a bit harsher after the eng translation (it happened before in ch 9).
10-21
Tumblr media
If it weren't for the fact that the copy [of the report] was still there and that it was something I had only mentioned to Artem, I would have thought that he had long since known what I was planning to do next.
also a sentence flipped to basically the opposite meaning, to the point that i doubt myself, but i think this time it's because the sentence is a bit long with a lot of confusing negatives
10-26
When visiting Brigid Gries:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You: Yeah, gege's right! Don't worry, you'll be fine! // [Brigid's writing:] "Thank you, shushu and jiejie" // Without stopping to tease that "shushu", you and Artem exchange a glance.
this is another situation with ways of addressing people in chinese; please check my comments on the scene in chapter 9-14 if you want an explanation of the terms.
rip rosa. you tried xD but looks like artem can't escape the shushu/uncle allegations 😔 and Brigid even called rosa "older sister" right in front of them both... ice cold.
also this time, jerome is just himself shushu
Tumblr media
now switching scenes to vyn:
Tumblr media
on second thought this might be too trivial, but whatever, we're already here and i have the screenshot and i'm a vyn blog. basically in chinese, vyn "looks up at Matthew Richter with a smile that's not quite a smile." that's pretty much the most literal definition of the phrase, and since it's vyn we can probably already assume that the smile wouldn't be a simple happy one, but yeah. now the last one!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have decided that I want to become a hero. No, that's not right. It's not that I want to…
revised version leads more naturally into his next sentence as he explains himself. this is actually a nice transition since i'm going to mention this scene again in another post about ch 10, so stay tuned!! and thanks for reading, let me know what thoughts you had about this or the chapter ^^

✨ writing interview tag game!!! ✨
Thank you @nerdallwritey for tagging me in this, yay!! I love talking about writing lol. Mind you, I'm not a fic writer, but I DO have an MFA in Creative Writing, and I did JUST start writing my first novel after BG3 came into my life & basically jump-started my healing journey. It is in fact a literary fiction vampire novel, ahem ahem. Here we go!
When did you start writing?
I learned how to write when I was seven just like most people I guess, and started with little poems or stories as I had always loved reading and wanted to imitate what the writers I loved were doing. That is still good advice to anyone who wants to become a writer- to start by imitating (not copying!) the style of those who you enjoy reading. Whenever I wrote something for a school assignment my teachers would compliment them, and child me definitely needed the encouragement lol. So I started very young, and the passion for writing never went away.
Are there different themes or genres that you enjoy reading than what you write?
Big YES. I read the themes and genres I write about as well, but I also enjoy reading differently because I think it improves my writing. Even if it didn't though, I truly enjoy reading different genres. For example, I don't write romance but I do enjoy reading it.
Is there a writer you want to emulate or get compared to often?
I don't know if I want to be compared to them necessarily, but I do have lots of writers that inspire me: Toni Morrison, Harper Lee, Flannery O'Connor, and Gillian Flynn are some I have off the top of my head.
Can you tell me a bit about your writing space?
I live in a very small studio apartment with my boyfriend (we even call it a hamster wheel lol) so I don't really have a space per se, but I do like doing a few things to get in the writing mood. A nice candle, some nice music. I have playlists for every different writing idea that I work on whether it be a short story or something else. My biggest dream is something I wrote to get adapted into a movie or a TV show so I tend to imagine scenes and pick out songs for those so-called scenes. Place doesn't really matter for me, in the sense of where I write- as long as I have a strong idea and some music to back it up.
What's your most effective way to muster up a muse?
More professional writers don't really believe in inspiration, they believe in sitting down and getting to work, but I'm not one of them unfortunately lol. Writing without the strike of inspiration is difficult for me, and forcing that inspiration even more so. However, it can strike anytime, anywhere. My notes app is FILLED to the brim with one-liners that came to me at 3 AM.
are there any recurring themes in your writing? do they surprise you?
YES, and they don't really surprise me because they are semi-intentional. I like working with the struggles of minority groups (the LGBTQIA+ community specifically), difficult relationship dynamics especially when it comes to dysfunctional mothers and daughters, and metaphors for love (vampirism is probably the biggest one). I also write a lot about trauma.
what is your reason for writing?
Sappy answer incoming! I had a very difficult childhood (I have CPTSD thanks to it yay me) and my only escape was reading, reading and reading. Once I realized I needed to start dreaming about a future career I immediately decided I wanted to become a writer, because the words of the writers I love literally saved my life, and I want to be able to do that for other people.
Is there any specific comment or type of comment you find particularly motivating?
Any feedback or piece of constructive criticism is more than helpful. Just knowing someone read something I wrote, spent time on it and engaged with it makes my heart flutter.
how do you want to be thought about by your readers?
As someone relatable, above all. Or someone who wants to help.
what do you feel is your greatest strength as a writer?
I'm pretty good at approaching difficult subject matter in a way what one of my professors called "cool to the touch". I don't like sentimentality and I'm usually pretty good at avoiding it in my writing. I write about difficult, borderline dark themes with flawed characters and I think that requires a particular way of writing to get right. I'd like to think that I'm pretty good at that!
how do you feel about your own writing?
I don't want to sound like I'm bragging or anything, but I believe that I'm a good writer. I've never had another dream in my life than to become a writer, it has always been everything to me, so it was never just a hobby- it's all consuming lol. And I like it that way!
when you write, are you influenced by what others might enjoy reading, or do you write purely for yourself, or a mix of both?
I guess I'd say it's more for myself- I of course want people to enjoy my writing but I won't change the way I write just for that reason. I write so that people will read my stuff, but the writing itself is never too influenced by trends or anything like that. On top of that, I know that my stuff can be difficult to read, and I tend to enjoy that part of my writing.
I don't really have anyone to tag, so anyone who sees this and wants to join in is more than welcome!

Contract Hiring Mobile App Developers in 2024-25
In this digitally dependent world, one of the fastest-growing technologies is the introduction of mobile apps for brands. Businesses utilize apps to drive creation, quick access to information, customer communication, and engagement with the brand.
The growth rate of mobile-based applications is expected to be 14.3% from the year 2024 to 2030 – Grand View Research
This makes mobile app developers one of the most in-demand skills in the market. For a successful project, the presence of skilled professionals is essential and businesses are also inclined to hire app developers remotely. Read the complete guide and let’s reveal how contract hiring mobile app developers is beneficial for businesses.
Why is Contract Hiring Beneficial?
When to Hire Mobile App Developers on Contract and Not on Employment?
Identifying the Technology & Scope of Work for the Mobile App Project
Sources of Contract Hiring
Interviewing and Screening Candidates
Ideal Terms & Clauses for Contract Hiring
Setting up effective Remote Communication and Collaboration
Conclusion
Why is Contract Hiring Beneficial?
Contract work also commonly known as the gig economy is highly popular in the market. Businesses can easily fill the temporary skill gap in the company by indulging with contract workers on project to project basis.
However, the key aspect is that businesses should know when to opt. to hire remote app developers on a contract basis.
When to Hire Mobile App Developers on Contract and Not on Employment?
Project & Talent wise need only
If your project needs short-term assistance from a developer it’s best to hire contractors. And, if the requirements increase, you can scale up the work with the hired professional.
Cost Considerations
Organizations easily save money and resources by opting for contract developers instead of permanent employees. If you’ve tight budgets and short-term requirements, this would be the best option.
Requirement of a Specialized Skill
Contract developers are often specialized in one specific skill like React Native or Swift. When the project is dependent on one skill that you do not have in-house, then you can hire a professional from a pool of Talents who best fits your requirements.
Identifying the Technology & Scope of Work for the Mobile App Project
Before you start hiring mobile app developers, it’s critical to understand the scope of the app and project requirements in detail.
Understand the Problem the App solves and for whom
Perform market research to identify the need for an app among your target audience. Plan how the app is going to benefit the users and what is a list of problems that need to be solved via developing the app. The classic example could be the problem of consumer interaction. With the app’s introduction, a brand can promote more engagement and interaction with the target audience.
Understand the project requirements and related core features
Discuss with decision-makers what features the app must have for the users (the core feature and the differentiable features). Decide on the platforms the App will support (android, iOS, or both). You must also finalize project details beforehand like deliverables and deadlines.
Choose the right Technology Stack
Selecting the right technology stack sets the correct foundation for the app. Consider the purpose of the app while keeping the target audience in mind and select either a native or cross-platform stack.
1. Native Mobile App Development ensures optimal performance and ‘platform-specific’ capabilities.
iOS: Swift or Objective-C for programming, Xcode for development, UIKit for interface design.
Android: Kotlin or Java for programming, Android Studio for development, Android SDK for interface design.
2. Cross-Platform Mobile App Development ensures quick deployments, reusability of codes, and coverage of both platforms (Android & iOS).
React Native, Flutter, or Xamarin Frameworks offer the ability to write code once and deploy it across multiple platforms.
3. Other Tools, Libraries, and Databases to be identified might include Android Studio, Xcode, Firebase, Restful, SQLite, Room DB, SQL, MongoDB, Redux, etc.
Outline the Scope of Work & Document in detail
A well-defined scope of work sets the wheels in motion for an app development project. The clear SOW acts as a roadmap for the developer and client and reduces any chances of misunderstanding in the process.
Also well document the Team requirements, their roles & responsibilities, features & functionalities, tasks & deliverables, milestones & deadlines, expectations for UI/UX designs, testing guidelines, deployment & maintenance guidelines, etc.
Sources of Contract Hiring
Here are a bunch of options that one can select from to hire mobile app developers in 2024.
Leveraging Specialized Platforms,
There are freelance platforms available in the market like Upwork, and Fiverr, that have professional freelancers who can provide you with one-time developer services.
IT Agencies (B2B contract Hiring)
Consider hiring IT agencies like Sprybit that have a pool of talent who are not only pre-screened but also reliable for the project.
Networks
Ask in your Network, post on Facebook – LinkedIN – Reddit groups, reach out to Industry people, and ask for references.
Interviewing and Screening Candidates
Following a pre-decided screening process is essential to finding the right talent for your organization.
Review Past Work/Portfolio
Make sure to review the candidate’s portfolio related to the mobile development projects. Examine the projects that require similar skill sets as compared to your project and judge their proficiency. You can also inquire about those projects and codes to understand their level of knowledge.
Consider requesting some sample codes. The GutHub links can act as an excellent proof of skills. This step is necessary to make a calculated decision.
Screening of Technical Skill
Shortlisted candidates must be proficient in technical skills according to the project requirements. Hiring managers must conduct the right assessment that ensures the presence of skill expertise.
These assessments must be practical and should involve coding for varied purposes. With this, you can understand data structures and algorithm knowledge in the candidate.
Identify other important factors
Apart from technical skills, other non-technical factors are essential to be considered during the hiring process. Check the candidate’s communication skills to ensure they will be able to communicate their ideas and plans with other team members. Candidates must also possess problem-solving skills to navigate technical errors in codes if required.
There are multiple design principles for mobile apps to enhance user experience. Check if the app developer is aware of such technicalities to select the best possible resource for your project.
Ideal Terms & Clauses for Contract Hiring
Whether you are a newbie or an experienced professional; while contract hiring mobile app developers; the ideal terms to keep your data, time, money & idea safe remain an unmissable necessity.
Hiring from a Freelance Portal does check many boxes with their well-established policies and processes; which might be good but not always foolproof. Hiring freelancers directly or from IT Agencies engages us in co-building Terms & Conditions on mutual consensus or are pre-defined with our experience as a Vendor Compliance Policy. But, all-in-all, making sure that every safety measure for our Project is taken care of remains our sole responsibility.
Payment Terms
Unlike full-time employees, one can’t pay to contract professionals every month. Select among a wide range of options like hourly-rate, and project-basis. Transparency from the very beginning will help smooth project completion.
IP rights
Before starting the collaboration, clarity on IP i.e. intellectual property is essential. As in who is the owner of code, design, app interface, etc should be agreed on to avoid disputes in the future.
Confidential & Non-disclosure agreements
Once you allot work to these contract workers, you will be sharing confidential details of the company. Make an advance agreement and ask them to sign it before commencing the work.
Project Timeline & Quality Assurance Standards
Maintain the quality of the project by deciding in prior about project deadlines, submissions, and code quality in terms of programming languages.
Termination clause
State a prescribed reason for when can either of the parties end the agreement. This brings clarity to the table regarding moral, ethical and professional expectations your Organization has.
Dispute Resolution
In rare cases, the client and candidate might go into a dispute that needs to be solved for the project’s betterment. Laying out steps to clear disputes and solve them will act as guidance in case it’s required.
Indemnity & Liability
It is important to outline the obligations & responsibilities of each party during any case of losses, damages and/or legal claims arising during the course of the project.
Governing Law & Governing Body
Involving government laws, rights, and bodies can help in resolving disputes and save the project’s future. This way both parties can come to the same conclusion under legal principles.
Setting up effective Remote Communication and Collaboration
Remote work culture creates room for misunderstanding and unclear targets. However, the issue can be tackled if there’s a pre-decided communication system planned. From work allotment to final project submission, an effective communication plan benefits all the parties involved in the project.
These can be achieved by establishing communication, collaboration & project management tools for your Project:
Inbuilt communication channels of Freelance Platforms
Slack
Microsoft Teams
Zoom
Google Meet
Jira
Asana
Trello
Basecamp
Google Workspace
Dropbox
Microsoft 365
Notion
Conclusion
Organizations’ idea to hire mobile app developers on Contract is spreading like a forest fire. Businesses now have access to partner freelancers and contract workers for short periods with ideal skills, and reliable talent.
Before starting your journey on the same path, make sure to remain transparent and pre-decide the essential factors like payment, timelines, IP & communication; and finally proceed to give life to your mobile app.

Meeting A Magical Man Pt. 23
Part 1: Link Prev: Link Next: Link
----------
Henrik was at his desk in his office, sipping at his mug of coffee as he signed off on some paperwork. It was a more calm evening for him, which was nice. Maybe he’d head home early, take the last few files and get them done there.
Marvin had texted earlier that he and Chase were busy and likely couldn’t go clothes shopping for Robbie. Henrik decided to give Robbie permission to order some clothing online from the store and have it delivered to the house. He also looked over the list to see what Robbie showed interest in and noted that it seemed to be a lot of science-based clothing but with, as Chase would call it, a nerdy twist. One example was a periodic table, but instead of elements, it was characters from Super Mario.
“Henrik?” A soft voice and a knock at his door made Henrik look up.
“Hello, Edward.” Henrik greeted with a smile, feeling his chest going warm at having the other doctor in the room with him.
“I can’t remember the last time the place was this chill.” Edward chuckled, going over to Henrik’s desk and sitting on the corner of it.
“It is very nice. I might even call it an early evening.” Henrik leaned back in his seat, the warmth turning into a flutter with how close Edward was. He did this every time he came into Henrik’s office. It was to the point Henrik left that spot on the desk empty and clean just for Edward to sit on.
“You should. I plan on doing the same.” Edward fixed Henrik’s hair, running his hand through it to even out the fluff. “I’m guessing that means you don’t have plans then?”
“No-” Henrik’s voice came out as a squeak, and he quickly cleared his throat, lowering his voice. “No.”
“Any thoughts about dinner?” Edward continued messing with Henrik’s hair, having already fixed it, but Henrik was basically melting at the touch.
“Not really.”
“Maybe we could get dinner together?”
“Y-Yeah. Sure.”
“Hen!” Chase barged into the room. “Well, shit.” He cursed when he realized what he had interrupted.
“I thought you and Marvin were out?” Henrik stood up.
“We were and then some…” Chase looked at Edward. “Some…stuff happened, and now I can’t get a hold of Marvin.”
“Some stuff? Is he okay?” Henrik asked.
“I mean, He didn’t seem hurt the last time I saw him.”
“What happened when you last saw him? Was there something you did?”
“I mean…I kissed someone to distract them.”
“I think I should step out.” Edward got off of the desk. “Let me know if you need anything.”
“If all is well I would…um…I would still like to get dinner.” Henrik tried to sound somewhat confident, but there was a hint of a blush on his face.
“Sure. Just let me know.” Edward smiled and nodded at Chase before leaving the office and closing the door behind him.
“Are you two going on a-”
“Who did you kiss? I am assuming Marvin must have seen it.” Henrik quickly stopped Chase from asking his question.
“It was Actor.” Chase watched as Henrik pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Why in the world did you kiss Actor?”
“He was going to see Marvin sneaking out of his place.”
“You two were at his home!?”
“Technically, it was only one of his places.”
“Chase!”
“Yell at me about this later. Can you call and see if he’s just ignoring me?” Chase had already gone to Marvin’s place, and he wasn’t there.
“When you call, does it go straight to voicemail? Or does it ring?” Henrik asked as he took out his phone and was about to open an app when he started getting a call from Robbie.
“It rings.” Chase rubbed at his arm as he waited.
“That is what I thought.” Henrik sighed. “Head home. I have him taken care of.”
“But-”
“Just go home. Rest. I promise I will call you later and fill you in.” Henrik cut Chase off and answered the call. “Hello?” He turned a bit to show Chase the conversation was done.
“Fine.” Chase sighed and also left the office.
He went to his car, turned it on, and drove. The goal was to go home, but instead, he was pulling up in front of Marivn’s.
There were a few minutes of hesitation before Chase sighed and finally turned his car off. He got out and rubbed his hands together anxiously, still feeling some of the grease on them. Eventually, he went into the house, knowing he wouldn’t get dinged by the security system since Marvin had it set up to recognize him, but he turned it off to be safe. The last thing Marvin needed was to think someone broke in.
He couldn’t just go home and do nothing. Actor knew someone was at his place, maybe he doesn’t know it was Marvin, but if that Mike guy saw him enough to give a description, it wouldn’t be hard to pick Marvin out of a crowd.
Chase first washed his hands, not wanting to leave a mess behind, and then went to the table. Seeing the folder still there and he flipped it open.
This was a bad idea.
He went through the pages and didn’t see any mentions of someone named ‘Mike’. Meaning Dark likely didn’t know who he was at all, or if he did, he never put it down. Chase flipped back to the first page, seeing a phone number listed at the top. He chewed his lip before dialing and number.
This was a very bad idea.
“Who is this?” Dark’s voice asked.
“It’s…It’s Chase.”
“Chase? May I ask how or why you’re calling?”
“I called the number at the top of this paperwork. I have some…I have some information about Actor.” Chase waited for a response, but he got empty air. “Dark? Are you still there?”
“I’m here.” Dark’s voice suddenly being behind Chase got him to yelp in shock, quickly turning around.
“Holy shit, give a man a warning.” Chase placed a hand over his chest.
“You’re coming with me.” Dark put his own hands on Chase’s shoulders and sent himself and Chase away.

I used to dreamily sigh and imagine potential romantic relationships, usually not with a specific person even but just the idea of being loved and loving and having someone like that, and sometimes it’d be sad because I wanted it but wasn’t in a position where that was gonna happen soon but mostly it just gave me that nice fluttery feeling. Imagining the possibilities, taking comfort in the thought of cuddling up with someone after a long day and just existing.
These days, I don’t have those daydreams much. I’m not particularly interested in having a romantic relationship anymore, just a supportive community and friends and maybe a QPR (although that seems… really unlikely to happen just because that’s kind of how society is). But those days I do want a romantic relationship are the hardest now. It maybe gives me a flutter for a moment, but the daydream turns sour so fast. Instead of feeling comforted by the idea, I’m too aware of how unlikely such a thing is to happen for me- I’ve tried online dating but it just feels wrong to me, I can’t imagine being with somebody I don’t already have a connection with in some way, but I’ve never had a mutual crush and I’m at that point in my life where it’s really hard just to make new friends, let alone partners. It just feels doubly isolating these days instead of even bittersweet :(
I'm sorry you're having a hard time, Anon. It definitely can be hard, especially when we're told our whole lives this is what we should want/is definitely what will make us happy or that it will fix all our problems. And it can be even worse when we're dealing with loneliness on top of it.
Making new friends is not always easy, and making really good friends takes both work and luck to find the right people. One thing to remember though is that making new friends is a skill, which means it's something you can work at and improve at. Usually the biggest thing though is being willing to put yourself out there and take risks, which gets easier to more you do it. Don't be afraid to introduce yourself to people, or to invite people out for a cup of coffee. And don't let the occasional disinterested person put you off.
It can also help a lot to just put yourself in situations where you're around people and interacting with them. For example if you have any hobbies or interests, do any of those translate to being able to get out and meet people? For example if you like knitting, a lot of cities have knitting groups that get together and knit and chat.
You can also take up a new hobby or learn something new, or take an evening course that interests you. Online groups can be good too, or friendship apps (similar to dating apps, but friendship only). Or anything else you can think of that gets you out around people regularly is good.
If you have friendships that are more casual it may also be worth thinking if there's any you'd like to try and strengthen, or anyone you'd like to make an effort to see more or spend more time with, too.
Just the act of getting out more and being around people will help a lot with feelings of loneliness, and while it takes time to build really close friendships, your dream of a supportive community and friends, and even possibly a QPR, is definitely attainable. That's a great goal to have, and you should definitely keep trying for it.
All the best, Anon! Good luck!

baby notes app drabble set in the street-racing 'verse called retribution for the dead.
yokohama is built on shaky foundations, burned and re-built - better, stronger, more volatile, more hostile. more violent.
the portside is a perfect example of that, a place no one can survive without vitriol on their tongue and a taste for blood in their soul.
atsushi hates it. he doesn't understand it, either, why the taste for blood and partying go hand in hand. there's no respect for life, for living without purpose.
standing in front of him, rashoumom makes the perfect example of it. his only purpose for living is the portside, for glory, for reputation. it's a vile inversion of passion, something that makes atsushi's blood boil.
"so, what will it be?" rashoumon asks petulantly, arms crossed and a sneer on his face; his coat flutters in the wind, but such a soft word should not attributed to such a harsh man.
the clouds above are darker than the night sky itself, threatening rain and thunder as lightning flashes behind the mountains. it's going to storm.
the threat of natural violence doesn't stop rashoumon or the portside, perpetually ready to lay down their lives for a race because it's the only acceptable way to be suicidal.
atsushi scoffs, his masquerade mask pressed against all the wrong plains of his face. a mask, that's all it is. the white reaper. what a fucking joke.
"what do you think? do you honestly think i'm willing to kill myself over this? i'm not racing you!"
thunder rumbles, but atsushi does not shake. he can't. it's a weakness he can't afford.
rashoumon doesn't appreciate the sentiment, rolling his arms at the blatant disrespect before spitting his next words. "what else do you have left for you? at least you can't be cowardly in death."

if you have any good resources for learning Mexican-Spanish dialect PLEASE share!! im mixed race and would be far more interested in learning spanish if it was the kind my dad grew up speaking yknow?
Oh hi-! I'll be real I'm not super fluent in Spanish- I wasn't taught it growing up and haven't started on any sort of like... actual education yet- nor do I have any like official resources I'm afraid... BUT I do have some advice!!!!!!!!
When my mother was learning English she told me that she listened to a lot of English music and it helped her a lot! I do a similar thing, I'll watch shows in Spanish, Spanish videos online, read Spanish text, or listen to music in Spanish and follow along using with English translations! It can be really intimidating at first, but I ended up picking up a lot of Spanish overtime this way! You hear or see certain words repeated enough and the meanings stick more and more!
Like for example recently I found a Spanish voice over of a show called The Haunting Hour that I used to watch when I was younger, and so since I already knew the general plot of the episodes I was able to follow along decently well even without subtitles! (Though I wouldn't start with that- they talk SUPER fast lol)
I also try to focus on the way things Sound when they are said and try to "parrot" them- I'll listen to words over and over until I can vocally copy the pronunciation. Even though I'm not completely fluent I've had people compliment my pronunciations saying they wouldn't have guessed that I'm not.
For Mexican dialects specifically look into Mexican shows or dubs, Mexican singers, works made by Mexicans, or Mexican creators online! I will say though to keep in mind Mexico is a big place and the Spanish spoken there has a LOT of different dialects!
This is kind of a "throwing yourself in the deep end" sort of technique so before doing that I'd get familiar with basic Spanish words and grammar- things like basic nouns, verbs, sentence structure- those sorts of things. Learning things like think, see, why, how, have, feel etc. help so much when you are just starting out.
Another really helpful tip is: speak to Spanish speakers!!! My mother is Honduran and she has been such a big help as she is the only fluent Spanish speaker in my immediate family! While we clash on our... opinions lol... regarding Mexican Spanish she's helped me understand it too since she's heard a lot of it from my dad's family. She's almost always the first person I turn to regarding any questions I have with Spanish.
I also have friends online who are fluent in Spanish too and they've also been great help! There's been many times where I've misused or misunderstood a phrase and they've been there to correct me LOL
Also don't feel afraid to look up things like unfamiliar words or phrases- that can be really helpful for stuff that can't be accurately translated into English! This won't be just the case with slang or really specific words either- a word translated a certain way in one context could be translated differently in another even something seemingly simple like "bueno" and it's conjugations.
I've tried language learning apps and stuff before and while I'm sure they work well for some people and would recommend trying some out I've just never fully gelled with those kind of tools. Though I will say the website Spanishdict.com has been a consistently big help for me! ... and to be fair I'm really bad at forming habits and sticking to those apps lol
And the biggest piece of advice I can give: Don't feel discouraged!!!
Learning a language is tough- but it's never too late to learn! I only started trying to seriously learn more Spanish like 3 years ago and every now and then I have to remind myself that I've come a long way since then!
... Also practice rolling your r's- it's the tip of the tongue to the roof of the mouth- fast fluttering motion- it'll be intimidating at first but keep practicing and you'll get it- and once you get it just know it's fine if it doesn't sound 'nautral' at first- the longer you do it the easier it becomes to roll r's without it sounding forced.
I hope that helps anon!!!!!!!!

Is there a way to permanently block recurring site elements that slightly differ in coding on each iteration?
For example,
Tumblr media
I can keep using the ublock element zapper to kill this instance of tumblr's app beg, but that just means I (probably) won't see it on this particular blog, not that I won't see this message ever
Another one that really bothers me is the delayed heart fluttering thing every single recipe blog has these days:
Tumblr media
Is it possible to get rid of this shit short of disabling JavaScript altogether?
