I haven’t posted in a long, long time— been so busy with class and work, but I am back!! With an EXCERPT! 

“Francisco had snared his voice mid-marathon, frazzled; flirting with expletives.

Men as articulated as he rarely found themselves white knuckled and dewey from salty droplets of sweat.

His face drenched in rage; tinted glossy red like the bourbon they had shared over dinner.

 “And still, I can’t get started with you!” That punctuation to his little outburst served as a triumph of restraint, offering Agnes the ability to board comfortable resolution.

Ineffectual as always, within that first flush of feeling she beelined towards a searing remark, some echoed cliché of her childhood that bore little consequence.

She needed to, always–never, be satisfied. “Why, get started with me? Shall I throw you a debut, Shall we hire caterers–“ , Hissing words which hinted to sardonic glee, were overcome with a sudden appreciation—the realization that she was now cast in his shadow.

There was only so far a man could be pushed, no, harassed into action.

Mashing of bone-on-bone within his mouth became so audible it had urged Agnes to retreat back into her seat.

Protectively— instinctively, she crossed her arms; his voice boomed with a tone of inconsolable rage.

In that frenzy, Francisco sniped her little quip,

“God damn, do you have a single idea how frustrating you are? And don’t you say you do, because you have no clue, none.” He begun, she certainly got him started on something, that fact was as concrete as his own conviction. That once-warm, burgeoning voice rattled into another wound-up extension,

“I say something clearly–clear as day, and Christ, do you ever purposefully warp it like the she-devil you are?” His words demanded her attention, but she could only fix her stare on those worn-out leather oxfords he sported. Desperate to sink further into the settee, if she had tensed further, she figured she’d disappear.

That would make for an ideal resolution.

With little realization, her eyelids grew leaden,  murky-blue streaks dribbled down her cheeks, and she hadn’t dared to acknowledge them.

“What do you even think it means, when I say that I love you, Agnes? What do you hear? I’m damn sure it’s not air on either side. What am I? Your hobby? You have a lot of those, why not make me one, right?”

Her head turned to look at the carpet, rather than his shoes.

All of him, even his clothing, was too much to bear—to gaze upon, let alone to merely exist in her vicinity.

Mantled cheeks dipped two shades beneath that of her eyes, all glassy and pink with despair—or rage; either could be correct.”
