(Follow up on ask) I want to try real hard to hike some part of the highlands, so anywhere up there really that I could get to by train.
And I’m also trying to go into Edinburgh to look around a bit! 🌿💚
(Also no pressure cause that is a big ask, just curious)
ah ok, highlands via train would be like west coast line up to fort william/mallaig, and tbh not super familiar with the areas (except for oban, which you can get a ferry to iona or mull etc from, which mull is vry nice. but check ferry things for that. also if you get off at luss or earlier at balloch you can get boat rides across loch lomond. loch lomond is so <3 i love going into the hills around there, haven't been to the arrochar alps tho which are on the side the train stations are on) Or you can get the train up from glasgow queen street in the inverness direction. i havent been to inverness but dunkeld & birnam on the way is very cute and has rly nice hikes from it (birnam hill!!, the hermitage!!, loch of the lowes). aviemore also has nice hikes going out from it (craigellachie nature reserve, plus steamtrain line up further north to abernethy forest type area maybe??? double check that). i'd stick to those lines rly for highland stuff. dont bother with aberdeen ive been told be so many people at this point (including from there) not to bother lol. its just boring. (unless youre using it to get on a ferry to orkney or shetland). .. hrmrmrmm for edinburgh. i am a bit of an edinburgh hater ,however the botanic gardens, the national gallery of scotland and lighthouse books are all nice. botanics are huge and nicely themed areas (and free except for the glasshouses which i've never been in) (but also out of th way of the city centre). national gallery has good stuff. lighthouse books is a queer-owned indie bookshop and has a rly nice selection of queer and political books but also various other local writers and things like that. its just rly nice. also Hadeel is palestinian gift shop items, so thats cool to go to i havent been tho. One world shop is also a nice fairtrade type shop. also i went to both holy cow cafe and lounge and the food was good . i will say tho that you absolutely can get into the highlands via edinburgh waverly but glasgow central + glasgow queen street have the west coast line + inverness route too, you'll need to go into glasgow for th west coast, in case you want to plan around that.

The whole gravy train needs to be derailed. MPs should never receive payments from vested interests.

🌈Sunday Funday
Originally posted: October 23rd
This weekend we had another ( rare ) two days off together, on Saturday we just hung out at home but on Sunday we decided to go out into Glasgow to look at the shops and have dinner.
The Hamleys in town had a new addition to it – which was a Build A Bear Workshop! I am very happy about this, because when we’re going out for fun we tend to stick to the bottom half of the centre ( there is a BAB at the top half ) now it means I’ll be able to visit it more often : D

I thought this dolphin was super cute. I’m a big fan of teddies with “Beanie Boo” eyes
We then went into Boots for some body spray for Eli. But they had their special Christmas gifts out and they’re always really fun to see.

At this point on photos are just from misc shops, I will let you know where each one is though incase you were interested!

These pajamas were so awesome ( even had a parasaur on them too ). Sadly they were just one size short of the one that will fit me ( 15-16 years ) < / 3 I tried to look online but it seems like they’re either old or too new to be put up. It’s okay though because I bought a pair online that I will share later down in the post

Large Godzilla plush from HMV. Out of my price range but still very cute and exciting to see!

I actually picked one of these up and am saving it to celebrate when my dragon Shrimp comes in the mail

We went to Zizi’s for dinner ( I had never been before ) and got the bolognese. It was very good
Here is my little hall of goodies from the day!

These are my favorite fidget / stim toys but it seems the “real” ones are hard to find. I only like the ones with a very specific high quality texture, and a lot of the fakes are flimsy and his dangly “fur” doesn’t feel right. So whenever I find a real one I’ve got to pick them up

This hat looks suspiciously like Godzilla

This ended up being much too sweet, I wish I hadn’t gotten it especially because of how overpriced American candy stores are lol
When we got home I finished up the final touches to re-decorating my Kanken. The photo is bad because I took it lastnight as soon as I finished. But I’ll do a more in-depth blog showing all the aspects of it soon!

No matter what your football team is you have to applaud the guys here. £59,585.06 and 7 vans of food raised that will help countless families during these difficult times, that's from all across what is often called a divide, it doesn't matter your team or your creed nobody should have to choose between heat or eat. 👏

Is laundrycore a thing? It should be
#I just have strong feelings about linen#Not that I'm any good at taking car eof it#Aesthetically though? *Chef's kiss*#Linen chests are a magnificent thing#Also white laundry on a line on a summer's day is very much a Mood#And I love those old washhouses you get behind Victorian houses in Scotland#Probably they were not so great when they were being used but dear god the Belfast sinks#I have been obsessed with Belfast sinks since primary school- my school was built in the 20s and had these huge sinks#The epitome of solidity and reassurance#Also used to love those Victorian irons they showed us in school with the  heated bit that you slide out#And have you ever been in a luxury hotel? Who gives a shit about the food the beautiful bed and the fluffy towels are where it's at#Also Jeeves is in here somewhere ironing collars#Not to mention the folkloric importance of the Bean-nighe#I mean I realise of course that older laundries were frequently not the healthiest places to work#Even modern laundry can fuck up your hands#That being said there is a whole history around washing spaces- from the way that women used to gather in mediaeval villages#around wells and streams and that's how they passed news on; to the cultural icons that were the Glasgow steamies of the twentieth century#And imagine what it must have been like to see the huge drying green on Glasgow green or the bleaching grounds near other towns#On the one hand it's rather sad that places like the drying green of Dunblane are no longer used though still public space#But on the other hand think how much modern technology has freed us from the a lot of the hard labout#BUT still leaving us the ability to learn more about and take care of our garments and by all people not just housewives#Machine washing is also a godsend if people are ill and have to spend a lot of time in bed or if you have kids or pets#On the other hand taking the time to properly take care of your clothes and bedding feels like such a peak act of self-care#I only wish I had the skills to be better at it#This post brought to you by my frustration with my tiny washing machine#You can barely fit a double bed set in it#But at least I have a linen kist#And am absurdly proud of it like some sixteenth century gudewife#Laundrycore#The latest silly aesthetic to dangerously over-romanticise
