At this point in the game Fuuka is becoming the MVP of my party. What do u mean she can scan the enemies' weaknesses so i dont waste time and SP with trial and error? And she can map the entire floor so i dont have to waste time running around?? And her theurgy replenish my SP, HP, and give me buffs randomly at my discretion (aka it's not randomly triggered)??? Also she can give me an escape route in case that fuckass reaper shows up and i havent found the stairs to the next floor yet???? I havent played p4 so idk if their navigator is as useful as Fuuka but damn p3r is the first time im using a nav for utility and not just charming voicelines. Fuuka my beloved you are the gold standard for navigators everywhere

im new here- is dean abusive?

imo yeah. smarter people than me have written dissections of the way he treats sam & others (he’s also Awful to his psuedo-son jack, but i haven’t gotten to that season yet), i’ve probably reblogged a bunch of them.

he certainly doesn’t mean to be & i don’t say it to condemn him as a person or as a character & i’m still very attached to him & he loves sam very much (not that that makes a difference in whether u abuse someone or not) - but the way he treats sam a lot/some of the time is emotionally abusive and sam is clearly badly impacted. s4 and s8 come to mind as his worst moments also ofc moc era - after that there’s less interpersonal conflict (up to where i am at least) but that’s because sam mostly stops disagreeing with dean not because dean actually gets much better <3 spn is cycles of abuse show after all. family is hell. dean’s learnt pretty much everything about how to behave from his abusive father and as a result. well. cycle continues

Discussing the NCR (Fallouts NV's Military Industrial Complex)

Fallout regularly discusses the idea of the military, its faults, its strengths, and most importantly, the psycho-social aspects of it regarding those who are members. We have seen a direct critique of the military generalized through the Enclave's overt nationalism, the hoarding of resources and indoctrination through the Brotherhood of Steel, and an almost eerily modern critique of the whole military-industrial complex through the NCR in New Vegas. In these series of posts, I will be focusing primarily if not exclusively on the last one.

The NCR we see in the game is strictly the military side of things and the depiction of active occupation during a time of eminent war, conflicting factions, and resource scarcity. It is in this we are missing a major factor that negatively affects the view of the NCR in the game and out: Civilian life along with citizen opinion on the military. While we do get Mojave civilian opinion on the military (often neutral or negative) we do not get those who are New California Republic citizens, not those who actually discuss the military more so not understanding the importance of the occupation and the President's choices.

We do not see how life is regularly lived by the average citizen as we have not seen New California in New Vegas, though, we get words and glimpses that the people are relatively content in the growing country minus the fact many people are not happy with the choice of encroaching on the Mojave. This most similarly reflects it's real-world application that many civilian citizens reject acquisition and war due to the economic effects it has on the country and the general violence/loss associated.

In this, we come to an issue of losing a perspective that is unique to the NCR as a military representative. The Brotherhood is notably a place where its active members are intertwined with its efforts, the young are raised to be scribes, paladins, etc... To where even if one is not fighting for The Brotherhood, they are still intertwined, it's propaganda is the life. The Enclave is even more cut n' dry in that it is mostly made up of government representatives. It is a group even smaller than the former, even more selective and intertwined that their propaganda IS a form of Eugenics. The NCR is unique in that there is a clear distinction between what is the military force, the civilian population, and the choice if one wants to be a part of the former.

There is a distinct difference in the cultures of the factions you are born into and those you must enlist or join (forcibly for some). While this is a long-winded way to get into the actual discussion I want to facilitate throughout these posts I wanted an initial background post to understand the aspects I am and am not exploring and explaining along with a hub post to link everything I intend to discuss in the coming days and weeks, starting with:

Why Do People Join the NCR?

...which will be discussed and linked back here like everything else regarding to this topic.

Just gonna say this bluntly because there's no nice or "PC" way to:

Maiz is a chronic boundary-crosser in some way, shape or form in most, if not ALL of her verses. Her reasons for doing so are highly complex (and depends on the dynamic and verse in question), but for the sake of brevity--if there is a "no" that exists, she's that annoying person that goes, "but what if I did it anyway?".

Although I dress it up as her being a cute little weirdo at times (because it can simply just be that), she can and does go too far. Her curiosity and sense of entitlement to other's lives, moods, personal thoughts, reactions, their bodies (not to mention personal space), etc is uh, well--a Thing That Exists™. If there's nobody there she respects or cares for, she'll cross all sorts of lines without a care in the world. (Even if it's them, she'll try to find loopholes, albeit less malicious in nature, which is again, dynamic dependant).

As I tend to emphasize in these posts, Maiz gets progressively worse without people in her life or if she fails to find opportunities to learn/grow; she doesn't take care of herself/her body all that well, and she's incapable (mostly) of NOT being a sadist that seeks a way to either hurt or embarrass her intimate partner or someone else while she's with them. Bringing violence to her doorstep only encourages her, and she's liable to take ANY minute reaction to her wrongdoings as fuel and store it for later. Meaning, if your muse has a problem (or gets flustered/embarrassed/frustrated etc) with what she says or does, she'll do it again--and on a grander scale--to get more reactions out of them.

Tl;dr: Her crossing boundaries with your muse can be, and is--usually--a spiteful, intentional act. She will escalate things for the fun of it, even if it means breaking societal contracts and unspoken rules. She can come off as a predator/predatory (and actually be that), and will not exactly care about her perception, so long as she gets a reaction--any reactions that strokes her ego.
