The E4 friendship with Drayton gives me life fr so I'm coming in hot with Amarys and Drayton friendship!!

I will say that this is heavily influenced by my personal hc that Drayton has ADHD (for being unmotivated in classes, lethargic/sleepy a lot of times, eating something like the Academy Special and snacks for multiple texture, being keenly observant of his friends to name a few) but I like to think that Amarys would help him when he's like having a bad brain day

Amarys just makes me think that she has multiple items on hand that could make good fidget toys! Chains, little metal trinkets, just something that Drayton can fiddle with. Amarys also speaks in a clear, concise way that makes it easy for Drayton to understand / pick up the tone right away so he secretly appreciates that! I can also see her perhaps helping him in ways to make taking notes / organising school work more manageable when he's really not the sort to sit in the classroom

In return I can see Drayton being quick to defend Amarys if someone misunderstood her stoicism for being rude, standoffish, etc. IIRC he was the one in the game to say that despite acting that way, Amarys has a sensitive side. He's observant of his friends and cares for them a lot so he won't tolerate anyone being mean to them. Could also see Drayton showing Amarys his Archaludon and discuss various ways to care for Steel-types like how to polish em so that they don't rust, type of feed to give, etc

AND if we're having each of them giving him a Pokemon, I def love the idea of Amarys giving him a Piplup! Lil fella that plays around with the Cleffa and Torchic till they're tuckered out and now Drayton's trying to pick up three lil babies without waking any of them up

I picture her like,, the one to take notes but never really using them much, she's a good student, and like Crispin she memorizes a lot of things quick (plus small hc from me, that she's the kid of Lenora and Hawes, and ofc those two are really smart ofc their kid would be smart af too hahah), so she usually just gives Drayton her notes, often telling him he could keep it

Carmine wonders why Amarys would just give her notes which she really went above and beyond to be so clear w stuff to Drayton who'd just crumple it while he's studying. If he even studies. But hey, Amarys didn't mind, not like she needed the notes much, plus she knows how Drayton has a hard time w class too, sometimes the notes would be enough to let him pass their tests

Anyways your honour BB E4 friendship real, god now I wanna make more stuff abt them, their dynamics w each other, they're interesting ofc, it'd be dope if we still get more of them if we do get bw3

"Club classics" | "B2b" - Charli XCX

Charli XCX kicked off the month by releasing two singles from her upcoming album brat. I wasn't super impressed with "Von dutch," but I'm loving these tracks a lot more. I just think the ideas presented on these two songs are much more interesting. "Club classics" pays tribute to frequent collaborators A.G. Cook (one of the song's producers) and SOPHIE both lyrically and musically. "B2b" is a lot more rhythmic, but those thumping synth lines keep it within the theme. These tracks have me a bit more excited for the album!

"86Sentra" - NxWorries

Knxwledge and Anderson .Paak's project NxWorries is coming back with a new album soon and while I'm not super familiar with the group's work, this is a pretty decent, quick single. It's very lowkey, almost too lowkey, but it's hard to expect a lot from a track that's under two minutes. Hopefully the full record has more fleshed out cuts than this!

What do you expect? Did Imagine Dragons get in gear and drop something cool and different? No, of course they didn't. It's the same flavor of bombastic electronic infused, vaguely rock cuts with big arena-ready choruses that feel incredibly empty. Music made for WWE promo videos. To their credit, they are one of the most consistent bands of the modern era ... consistently terrible that is!!! *cue laughter, applause, and fireworks*

"Dream State" - Kamasi Washington

The latest single from Kamasi Washington's upcoming album features flute contributions from André 3000. This might be my favorite single so far. André's flute pairs very well with Washington's saxophone throughout. The song starts slow, as the instruments mingle with one another. Like a feeling out stage, until the drums and bass kick in towards the middle and everything just slides into place perfectly. So excited to hear this full album.

"Karma" - JoJo Siwa

I almost feel bad tearing into this new JoJo Siwa single. We all know it's bad. Her silly KISS-adjacent makeup, the interview where she says she wants to make a new thing called "gay-pop" (pop music, definitely not a genre that is rich with queerness already), the "DREAM GUEST ON MY PODCAST" thing, it's been a busy month for her. This single sucks though. Corny and embarrassing. No one is buying this "mean girl" act unless they're like a pre-teen or something. Grow up, JoJo. For real this time.

"Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond of Each Other" - Orville Peck & Willie Nelson

Orville Peck and Willie Nelson have teamed up for a new version of Ned Sublette's iconic satire on cowboy stereotypes. Despite the song's suggestion that every gay man is inherently effeminate, I've always gotten a kick out of it. This new version is no different. Peck has been one of the shining stars in country music over the last few years and Willie Nelson is Willie Fucking Nelson. I think I prefer Nelson's solo version from 2006, but again, this is a lot of fun. Looking forward to Peck's new album!

"Good Luck, Babe!" - Chappell Roan

I had no idea who Chappell Roan was before this month. She was all over my Twitter feed in the days leading up to and following this new single "Good Luck, Babe!" I definitely see what the hype is about. This is one of the most solid synthpop tracks I've heard in a while. Roan's energy is electric too. I feel like she's going to be an even bigger name within the next few years. Definitely need to go back and listen to her last album.

"Reaching Out" - Beth Gibbons

Another absolutely incredible single from Beth Gibbons before her new record drops next month. This one is a lot more avant-garde than the previous, but it rules so hard. The minimal instrumentation puts the focus on the multi-layered vocals and it's so cool. When the instrumentation ramps up it feels even more earned. Lives Outgrown is still one of my most anticipated albums of the year, even more so after this track.

"Wanna Be" - GloRilla & Megan Thee Stallion*

I've been aware of GloRilla for a bit now, but I never actually heard one of her songs until now. This rules. "Wanna Be" is a sharp southern hip hop cut from two of the most charismatic artists in that field. Megan definitely has more starpower, at least right now, but they're on an equal playing field here. Both of them just sound ferocious. The beat is a little generic, but the performances carry the song to greatness. I definitely need to give this full album a listen sometime.

Another great new cut from WILLOW that shows her going into a more jazz pop direction!! I know I said last month when writing about "symptom of life" that I was being cautiously optimistic about what she doest next, but hearing this puts me at ease just a bit. Not completely, there will probably be some horrible collab with someone in the near future, but I'm at least extremely looking forward to Empathogen. I loved a lot of her rockier tracks over the last few years, but the singles leading up to this album show an artist at the top of their game thus far.

"Illusion" - Dua Lipa

A lot of my criticisms of the recent Dua Lipa singles unfortunately apply to "Illusion" as well. These are competently crafted pop tracks, but they leave me feeling so hollow. I don't wanna dance, sing along, I'm just so uninvested. She just has barely any presence on these tracks. Radical Optimism is just around the corner and I'm worried that I'm gonna be severely disappointed by it.

I haven't been the biggest Ken Carson fan in recent years, but I heard this new single getting some buzz so I decided to give it a shot. I definitely didn't hate it, but I'm not in love with it either. The beat here is really cool, but Carson just doesn't bring the heat. It's like trying to fit a round peg in a square hole.

"Espresso" - Sabrina Carpenter

I wish I could say I'm on the Sabrina Carpenter train, but I'm just very underwhelmed by everything I've heard. This is a sleek pop cut with disco leanings, but it's almost like too sleek. Everything down to Carpenter's vocals is just so pristine. I do like the hook though, it's pretty catchy. I just wish there was a bit more punch to it, could've been so much better!!

"DBZ" - Your Old Droog, Method Man & Denzel Curry

We got an all-star cut from Your Old Droog, Method Man, and Denzel Curry with a beat by Madlib. Yeah, this is pretty good. It feels like a cheat code, like yeah of course this rocks. Droog's verse is pretty strong, but out of everyone here I'm the least familiar with his catalogue. Method Man's verse rules, he brings that classic flavor to the track that Lib's beat calls for. Curry rocks this too. Not a gamechanger track or anything, but this is definitely a worthwhile track.

"David Byrne Does Hard Times" - Paramore & David Byrne

David Byrne returns the favor to Paramore for their cover of "Burning Down the House" with his own version of the band's smash hit "Hard Times." He strips back the instrumentation just a bit, really the energy on the whole, but it works decently well. The bridge towards the end here is where this song really hits. Also that saxophone throughout is such a nice touch. It's just a fun little cover, doesn't outdo the original, but it's nice to see a legend like Byrne tipping his cap to them.

"Push Ups" - Drake

Oh lord, the great rap beef of April 2024. I touched on it briefly when I talked about Kendrick Lamar's verse on "Like That" from the Future & Metro Boomin album from last month, but it really ramped up this month. J. Cole had a sheepish, pathetic diss towards Kendrick meanwhile Drake somehow brought way more fire. It's still just funny to see Drake throw stones at anyone considering he has one of the biggest glass houses of all time. He's taking a break from gambling streams to make diss tracks, he's just such a funny character.

"What Happened to You, Son?" - Belle and Sebastian

I was really underwhelmed by Belle and Sebastian's previous album, but I enjoy this single more than anything on that record for sure. It's still got some unremarkable instrumentation and some clunky verses, but it's a fun listen. There's some witty lyrics here and I guess it's nice to hear them still rolling along, but I'll probably just stick with If You're Feeling Sinister.

"Only One" - Cassandra Jenkins

A few years ago I remember listening to Cassandra Jenkins' last album An Overview on Phenomenal Nature on a whim, I thought it was ok! It hasn't been in my regular rotation, but I was reminded of Jenkins because of this new single and the announcement of her next album. This is a really tasteful track with gorgeous melodies and a vocal performance that sounds heavenly. This new album is certainly on my radar now and I'm definitely gonna go back and listen to her last album again.

"Starburster" - Fontaines D.C.

Oh this track fucking rules. Fontaines D.C. have been on my radar for a bit, but I never gave them a listen until now. I definitely need to familiarize myself with their stuff because "Starburster" is amazing. A great mixture of post-punk, rap rock, and dance music. A lot of those sounds feel opposed, but they come together so nicely here. This rules, I'm definitely gonna keep my eye on them leading up to this new album coming up.

"Wake Up" - Backxwash

Backxwash has been making some of the most interesting industrial hip hop and horrorcore of the last few years. This new single "Wake Up" is a great example of that. The production is so atmospheric, making way for her strained, exasperated delivery. It gives the track such a distinct energy. The midway point of the track gives all focus to the fuzzy beat before leading into an insane beat switch. I've never heard her on a beat like this before, but she absolutely kills it. Great track!

"Right, Wrong or Ready" - Kara Jackson

🥇 BEST SONG OF THE MONTH

Kara Jackson dropped a cover of Karen Dalton's "Right, Wrong or Ready" this month and it's absolutely gorgeous. I wasn't aware of the original before this, but I think I prefer this cover to the original. Gorgeous chamber folk instrumentation and Jackson's vocals are, as to be expected, sublime. One of those songs that makes you appreciate just how beautiful music can be. I loved Jackson's last record and I'm hoping we get more new music from her soon, but I'll be bumping this one for a while.

"Rewilding" - Thurston Moore

While I'm a little disappointed this new Thurston Moore single released for Earth Day isn't a detour into experimental hip hop like Kim Gordon's recent music, "Rewilding" is a pretty decent slacker rock cut with some noisier moments. The instrumentation on here leans pretty tame, but it's still a cool listen. I'm not super familiar with Moore's solo work and I'm not sure when or if I'll get around to it. Unfortunately, this single isn't really pushing me to familiarize myself with it.

"Like I Say (I runaway) - Nilüfer Yanya

Nilüfer Yanya's 2022 album PAINLESS really took me by surprise. It's been a while since I revisited it, but it was in my rotation a pretty decent amount that year. This return single is really strong. I love the production here, it sounds washed out in the coolest way possible. The melodies are also really strong. I'm hoping we get an album announcement in the coming months, I'll certainly be listening!

"euphoria" - Kendrick Lamar

◇ genres: trap, hardcore hip hop

Not long after I initially published this post, Kendrick Lamar fired back at Drake's diss in a 6 minute track that has a killer beat switch and Lamar fully embracing being a hater. I have no dog in this fight, but for what it's worth, Kendrick easily looks the best coming out of this. His pen game is on another level, especially when compared to Drake (and Cole too, although his response was so uninteresting he's basically a non-factor at this point). Sometimes his delivery here gets a little too lyrical spiritual miracle, but it's still a fun track.

I FINALLY REMEMBERED IT

There were two versions of the White Star brain rot. One with the reader, and the other with an Oc(because pretty sure no one's gonna take this man). It honestly started as a joke, like "Imagine if White Star had a therapist friend. Lmao." And then my friend just looked at each other and went "fuck it". And made White Star a therapist friend.

Reader version, I think, is basically God of Death fucked up and accidentally brought a random soul into the world but saw that they knew about the future so tried to get them in a suitable body. Buuut they ended up sharing a body with White Star so GoD gives them a blessing to protect them from his curse because OH BOY HE DONE MESSED UP. Reader realizes, "oh shit, I'm in the white radish's body" but White Star isn't aware because they're just a tiny mortal and he's a reincarnatior that's been alive for centuries. They can only speak to him every so often, so they sort of become his conscious and start secretly pitting him against the Sealed God. As he gets more aware of them, they start gaining more power and create a little mind space where they can project their body. A little safe space away from the very concerning thoughts that swarm his head. However, it's a double-edged sword as White Star quickly realizes his conscious(that he thought he lost a long time ago) was just this random person who distracted him from his goals.

After realizing there's nothing he can do about them, they explain TBOAH and TCF and making him realize all his plans are in vain as even if he does succeed, time will get rewinded and he'll have to deal with the menace that is Cale Henituse. So they make a deal, they get to live in this weird limbo state but will eventually get a body, and he finds a way to permanently deal with the SG as well as all the information they have. All of this takes place centuries ahead of the TCF and TBOAH Timelines. By the time KRS arrives, White Star has gotten... Attached to the little mortal living in his head and all his "villainous" acts are for show so the SG doesn't suspect anything. SG is aware of them, but thinks that they can't do anything. He is wrong. Thanks to them, White Star fakes his death and the SG is permanently taken care of. Reader gets to finally take over his body, as he had to sacrifice a bit of his soul to deal with SG so now he's the one in the mind space they made. And now both of them just wander around, going their best to avoid Cale and his group because that is not something they want to deal with. They also teach him memes.

with the death part though... hmm i personally think that'll be difficult. since cale got the answer of how to kill white star from the world tree (i mean world tree can lie but lets be real, that poor guy is too scared of cheap stake fire to do that) and it's hard to escape jour's ancient power. so i can see them striking a deal with cale with the help of god of death. then after sg is sealed off they just go away to try and live their own life and avoid cale.

2. whenever he gets arrested or y/n manages to have gcpd come in to arrest him, he always hit her back with his taunts and riddles. The Avengers are fighting against madame Hydra and her troops

"Parker! Status?" Tony's voice crackles through the intercom whilst Peter fights against a group of Hydra soldiers which seems to just keep on increasing in number.

"Oh no! Karen activate instant kill!" Karen activates the instant kill mode but it still wasn't enough to tackle the whole army as Peter was soon outnumbered. One of the soldiers threw a gamma ray infused bomb which if detonated can be catastrophic to anyone who is hit by its radiation. The bomb detonates with a huge blast but to Peter’s surprise a forcefield forms around it containing the blast inside it, soon the forcefield disintegrates, sucking in the deadly radiation with it like a black hole sucks in everything into it.

"Woah! what the hell was that?!" Peter was awestruck at what just happened.

Suddenly a feminine figure appeared out of the thin air in front of Peter. She was wearing a blue suit which hugged her curves perfectly, hair cascading down her shoulders. And as she turned to face him Peter felt like he was hit by a truck, it was you. He stood there like a statue still processing what he was seeing.

"You're welcome by the way" you quipped, breaking him out of his daze.

"Who are you?" Peter asks though he knew very well who you're but seeing you like this was a huge shock to him.

"Y/N Y/L/N aka storm and you're the famous spiderman"

"Yeah I'm indeed" he chuckles nervously, he was grateful that he was wearing his mask so you couldn’t see his face. You were about to say something when you got interrupted.

You ordered two drinks and took them in your hands making your way towards him. You slid a glass to him, breaking him from his thoughts as he looked up to you.

"Rough day?" you ask nonchalantly. He smiles letting out a long sigh.

He slowly began to loosen up and dance with you enjoying the vibe. After sometime you went to have a couple of shots together and you were nevertheless drunk.

"So you and Harry, huh?" Peter asked, downing another shot.

A new threat arrived from madame Hydra again when she seized the cube and shielded it in a dome of lethal gamma radiation. The team had already sorted out a plan to defeat her malicious plans and you were to play a big part in it.

"May I come in?" You knocked at Peter’s door. He was busy on his computer as he turned to see you outside his room.

"Huh,yea-yeah sure" He says nervously. You smiled in return and walked into his room, eyes looking around.  

"Umm so Tony asked me to discuss with you the plan of how we are going to execute the whole infiltration thing to retrieve the cube which is shielded with gamma radiation’’ you showed him a holographic structure of the dome. ‘‘Anybody entering the dome will become an abomination. So you guys will distract them and I in the meantime will disintegrate the gamma dome so you can retrieve the cube" You looked up from the hologram to find Peter staring at you intently.

"What? Is anything wrong?"

"No-no, it’s absolutely fine" Peter fumbles

"Then what is it?"

"Jus-just still can’t believe that you are here and-and-"

"have super powers just like you which by the way was shocking for me too given that we knew each other for a while" You snicker, Peter smiles shaking his head.

"So how did this all happen?"

"Well a little misadventure with the quantum tunnel in the lab I got exposed to its energy and ta da! Now I make force fields as well as can go invisible"

"But now you can save the world"

"Yeah that's true" you chuckle "So how's blondie?" Peter stiffens at your question.

"Don't know, haven't been in contact for a while" He shrugs.

"Why what happened?"

"There were some differences so we parted ways"

The other team members were out on a mission in which you weren’t required so you were now in the kitchen leaning on the counter with a nutella jar in your hand and a spoon in your mouth savoring on the delicacy when Peter walked in unannounced making you jump in fright.

"Oh god!" you gasped, surprising him even.

"I thought you were Nat, jeez" you blew out your cheeks as he chuckles.

"My lips are sealed" He assures you with a playful smile as he goes to open the fridge and takes out the juice carton to drink. You poked your finger to swipe the nutella from the edges of the jar as you lick on to your fingers. Peter was following each and every movement of yours the way your eyes fluttered closed whilst you licked and sucked your fingers clean. He gulped as he felt heat rising in his body at your teasing gestures. Your fingers fell short to scoop the leftover at the bottom of the jar as you huffed in defeat. Peter stood in front of you as he gave out his hand

21x02: Put It Down

I've wanted to do a watch/writeup of this episode for a while now. Tweek has been my favorite character since Gnomes aired, when I was still in elementary school and secretly watching South Park with my dad at night. Craig, while I enjoyed him as a character before, absolutely won my heart in the Pandemics and gets third favorite. (My second favorite is Clyde but that doesn't matter right now.)

And when I got into SP fanfiction, and discovered that Creek was a thing, I hopped right on that train and have never looked back. Tweek x Craig made my life when I first saw it and this episode... Well, you'll see.

Disclaimer: I have A LOT of feelings about this episode. Sorry not sorry about how long this is.

Poor Tweek, like Jesus, his dad is infuriating and so stupid. Not Randy level stupid but like, quit shoving a fidget spinner in your kid's face and actually talk to him for Christ's sake.

But I mean, this is also the parent who pointed a gun at Tweek's head while teaching him how to avoid being abducted, so I don't know what I expect of him honestly.

That poor kid getting run over. And yet it's that part of the story that pushes this episode into feeling like a older episode and is half the reason I love it so much. There's a really good point to be made, but the constant killing of kids by distracted drivers gives it the fucked up South Park edge.

I love PC Principal in this episode too, and how he just doesn't really care what the hell Cartman wants.

Open door, turn on light, close door. "Waaaaaagghhhh!" "Hey, Tweek."

You have to wonder how often this has happened. And AGAIN, more proof that Craig really legitimately cares about Tweek. Imagine if anyone else woke Craig up like this. I really don't think he'd be so calm.

But it's Tweek, so he just yawns and deals with it because that's what you do when you care about someone.

Also, Craig sleeps with his hat on and that's adorable.

I love how they edited Tweek's picture into real photos.

I feel so bad for Craig here. And through most of the episode actually. He's doing all he knows to do, because this is the kind of stuff that helps him. He's really trying, and Tweek's just wired differently.

And he has a stuffed astronaut monkey, because long live Spaceman Craig.

He brought him to an AMUSEMENT PARK, Craig has pink cotton candy, and they're holding hands. It's this kind of stuff that makes my brain explode from cuteness.

"THE FERRIS WHEEL!!!"

Of all Tweek's twitch noises, I for some reason find the, "rrrrgh" he does on the Ferris Wheel one of the cutest ones.

This fight breaks my heart a little because again, Craig is trying. He has put so much effort into doing his best to help Tweek and finally, finally gets frustrated. It shows how much patience he has for Tweek that it took him so long to get to this point.

I just want to hug them both during this fight. God knows they need it. It's just such a realistic argument, ugh.

And then this moment. This moment where everything clicks, both for us (the parallels of Logic!Cartman/logical Craig vs emotional kids needing to grieve/emotional Tweek needing to freak out) and for Craig, who finally realizes that everyone handles stress differently and you have to adapt to their coping mechanisms to be able to help them. This song. THIS SONG. I don't know what it is about this song but it just hits me SO hard every time. Tweek actually being able to play the piano beautifully (I will argue that it's because Craig is there with him and that makes Tweek feel so much better), CRAIG SINGING even though he clearly isn't the most comfortable with it and is obviously doing it for Tweek (ANOTHER point of proof for the realness of their relationship), the chorus, the Cartman rap (!!!!), the memorial of distracted driving victims (Kenny)...

And this moment, right here. When it goes back to the two of them there, and the spotlight focuses on them and they smile at each other, just oh my gosh. I get really weepy almost every time I watch this. They're adorable. They support each other. They're willing to grow and adapt for each other. They have a real connection with each other. They're happy together. Like look at Craig's smile. How can you not love that?!

1. What are your OC's best and worst qualities What do they think are their best and worst qualities?

Ren's best quality is probably his loyalty. Once he trusts someone, he's ride or die. For the most part.

His worst quality is that he holds a Grudge. He's pissed at Max for a LONG time after the scholar thing, and doesn't fully come around until well after Scylla. He's been hurt a few too many times to take what he sees as betrayal lightly.

Ren would probably agree his best quality is his loyalty, but he would say his worst quality is his temper.

2. Is there a meaning behind their name, or a particular reason why they have it? (either in the story, or why you as the author decided to give them their name)

I just answered a question about Ren's name so Ill give the real world answer! Genuinely, I saw someone with the nickname Ren when i was at work and i was like Yo that's a cool name. And i snatched it up. I steal a lot of cool names from work 😂😅

3. What does their voice sound like, in a couple of words? (ie soft, scratchy, seductive, high pitched, etc)

Oddly?? I haven't thought about it much! He's trans and was on T on Earth, and I've guess i always imagined like a bit lower and kinda scratchy? Look, Ive been on T for a while and only JUST realized like a month ago that my voice changed a lot, I'm not good with like,,, voices or describing them fjalfjalf

4. Do they have any underlying motivations? (ie hey seem hard-working but secretly just don't want to fall back into poverty, etc)

Ren's secretive about exactly what they're doing for Phineas at first, because he's not sure he can trust ANYONE, but as soon as he warms up to the crew and to Phineas, he's pretty straight forward with them. He doesn't tell them about his past on Earth for a while, but he came to Halcyon to start over as a paramedic. He truly wants to save the people on the Hope, and believes they can help save the colony.

5. Does their fashion sense reflect an aspect of their personality? (ie bright and colorful outfits symbolizing that they're an upbeat person)

Ren ends up wearing old altered Iconiclast armor. He uses his own fabric in colors he's not mistaken for the Iconiclasts. He ends up choosing the blue for the head scarf and detailing because he stopped dying his hair when he got to Halcyon (too much work) so it's a little homage to the hair color he sported for years. That's not really the answer to the question but... i'm leaving it there 😅

6. Do they have any tattoos? What are they, and why did they get them?

YES! On his left arm he has the word FUCK tattooed. His late husband Johnny had "SHIT" tattooed on him, because those were the first words they said to each other. Once they realized that after they got married, they got it tattooed

I want Ren to have more tattoos but i haven't put that much thought into it lol I think he'd get some in Halcyon too, and not all of them would have some grand meaning! I think eventually he'd get something to commemorate his original crew on the Unreliable

7. What is their biggest insecurity?

Ren biggest insecurity is that he doesn't believe he's as morally good as he really is. He has a checkered past on Earth, but really it's bc he's more of a Chaotic Good type than a Neutral Good.

However, he still thinks he's way in over his head and doesn't ever know if he's doing the right thing.

8. What is their coping mechanism?

Fake it til u make it baybee. That and cigarettes. He doesn't drink so much anymore, but he smokes as an anxious habit when he's not Doing Great (and generally only then, so if he's smoking, he's going through it)

9. What is their main love language? (gifts, quality time, acts of service, physical touch, words of affirmation)

Ren's love language is definitely physical touch, acts of service are important to him, but being physical close to his people is the best. Makes for fun moments when someone Ren cares about helps bandage him up after a fight uwu

10. What is their MBTI type?

INJF (idk i made it up im too lazy to go through and do that sorry lol)

11. What kind of person are they most compatible with? (platonic or romantic)

Queer people, generally, but anyone who isn't a dick 😂

He doesn't really like cynical people, even though he can be kinda cynical himself sometimes, so he finds it really hard to get along with Max and Ellie through the story. Ellie and Ren definitely bond somewhat after her quest, and Max kinda gets over the most annoying if his cynicism after his quest, so that helps a lot.

12. How do they feel about romantic relationships? Are they into casual flings or more serious, long-term romances? Or are they uninterested?

Very interested on all levels lol. Ren is very casual about sex, he's more of a 'it's a fun activity' kind of guy. He's totally happy with casual flings, however! He is also a romantic. In an ideal world, his partner(s) would be open to the idea of non monogamy, but if not, Ren would be absolutely fine with settling down with the right person. (spoilers i give Ren his happy ending........ no pun intended)

13. What are their views on marriage? If they want to get married, what would their dream wedding be like?

Ren's been married! He and Johnny got married for the benefit status, though. Ren doesn't particularly care about marriage as an institution, but he did enjoy having a party to celebrate his and Johnny's love, soooo he's not closed to the idea in the future. He wouldn't be the one to ask for one though.

14. How is their relationship with their family Which family member are they closest to?

Non existant. He cut off communication with his parents right after high school. He kept tabs on them from a distance for a while, but eventually stopped checking in on them. He used to spend summers on his uncle's dairy farm, though, and before he cut off his parents, his Uncle was probably the person he was closest too. It wasn't a very familial relationship, though, and he didn't answer after Ren reached out in his 20s. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

15. Has their personality changed at all since they were a child? Why?

Absolutely. Ren grew up with grossly wealthy parents, so he was coddled and shielded by a lot as a child. Until High school he was probably kinda like those pretentious little kids who's low key annoying, but i'm high school he learned about the horrors of ~capitalism~ and things went downhill from their (or uphill? Because he's definitely a better person for it 😅)

16. How do other characters in the story view them?

Ooooo, this is a tricky one, it depends on the timeline of the game, but at first I think their all a little bit optimistically confused by him lol. He's a stranger who came out of nowhere and is offering to help (for a fee sometimes), but then is actually capable of surviving in this colony while not knowing what "Tossball" is.

By the end of the game, they all see him as more human and less superhero, understanding he has his limits, but by the end of the game there's definitely a mutual respect from everyone on the crew. I could go more into each persons opinions but this would be twice as long as it already will be lmfao

17. How many hours of sleep does your OC get on average?

Not enough :,)

18. Where do they see themself in ten years?

Ideally, he, Phineas, and Hiram are settled down somewhere relatively safe in the colony and he and Hiram can work on the colony while Phineas relaxes and works in his own projects for fun for once in his life

19. If they had a theme song, what would it be?

20. What AU would they belong in the best?

PIRATES hahaha probably bc i'm writing that one 🥴 but really ive thrown Ren into every AU at this point (at least in my head, if not scribbled somewhere in a notebook)

If you were a writer and was given the opportunity to write a few redux episodes (let's say this is in 2013 when the characters were 23/21/19) , who would you give the episodes, too? fire, pure, rise are cheesy names but i secretly like them a lot lol

So Skins: Redux was supposed to be "a celebration of this truly iconic series" that showed that "time changes everyone". It was about bringing back the characters the viewers knew and loved so they could hear their story one last time. Based on that, I do think it makes sense to bring back the characters people loved most- Effy, Cassie, Cook, and Naomily. In terms of popularity, the other option might have been Tony, but obviously Nicholas Hoult was much too busy at that point to do a Redux episode, and I think people would mostly have been interested in that to see more of his friendship with Sid.

In terms of what I would have wanted to write, though, I would have wanted to do one focused on Jal, one (properly) focused on Naomi and Emily, and one focused on Mini and Alo.

This is more than you asked for, but here's roughly how I imagine those episode going. Let me know what you think and what you would title these episodes!

Jal

From the beginning, Jal has been described as "super bright" and "the most talented young clarinet player in the country". She's very serious and intellectual. She craves stability and support, so she always does what's expected of her. She wrestles with the assumptions people have about her given her race, and also with her father's fame. She thinks that if she just studies harder and plays the clarinet better, she’ll achieve the stability that she’s been searching for, but that’s not the case. Her biggest struggle in the series is that she always says no to things- she doesn’t want to endanger the stability she’s achieved in any way, and so it’s easier to not do anything new. Through her relationship with Chris, Jal learns to "stop saying no all the time" and to learn how to say "fuck it" more. But at the end of series 2, Jal is still kind of doing what's expected of her- she plans to go to music college and become a professional clarinetist, which was always her plan.

And so I think it could have been really interesting to follow her on that journey and see how Chris has changed her outlook on life, which creates some tension in a hyper-conservative space like classical music schools and orchestras. I would have liked her to explore how classical music feels somewhat oppressive after adopting a more "fuck it" attitude, how respectability politics are very much at play in that industry, and how a person starts a new relationship when the great love of their life is in their past. I would have liked to see her take chances, real chances, and to realize that what she thought she wanted all this time wasn't actually what she wanted after all. And I would have liked to see what she ends up doing instead, now that she's letting herself be a little freer.

Naomi and Emily

Naomi and Emily are one of the most popular relationships that Skins ever had, but Fire really doesn't do their relationship justice. Naomi and Emily have exactly three conversations in all of Fire, and one of them is a Skype conversation. None of those conversations are meaningful or tell us about their stories; they're just fodder for Effy's story. I'm definitely not bitter about this. Anyway.

I would have liked to see Emily and Naomi in a normal, healthy, adult relationship, supporting each other throughout the hard time that is young adulthood, without the fear that they'll break up driving the story. I think it's so rare that you get to see couples on TV who are never in danger of breaking up, and even rarer for LGBT couples on TV. This episode could be a really good opportunity to explore what that looks like. In terms of their individual storylines, I think we need to look at who they are, where they've been, and where their character arcs might go:

Emily is empathetic, sincere, friendly, and warm-hearted. She's all about encouraging people to be their best and to be brave and address the problems in their lives (we see this both in her relationship with Naomi and her friendship with JJ). She’s at her best when she can help people achieve their goals. So I think she would make a great therapist. At her worst, Emily believes that she must always put other people first if she wants to be loved herself, and so her storyline in gen 2 was really about learning how to pursue what's right for her, even if other people don't understand or agree with her choices. In the Naomily redux episode, I would have liked her story arc to be about finding the one person she can't help, realizing that she can't always fix everyone and learning that it's okay to put herself first. Maybe one of her patients dies by suicide, which brings the Sophia situation back into focus in her life (and gives an opportunity to re-introduce Effy into the show, since she attempted suicide but Emily never seemed to really be there for her when it happened).

Meanwhile, Naomi is conscientious, principled, and ethical, with a strong sense of right and wrong and a desire to improve the world. But she’s afraid to make mistakes, and can slip into being critical and perfectionistic, even to the point of being hypocritical. Throughout her storyline in gen 2, Naomi learns that it's okay to make mistakes and that the people who love her will keep loving her in the face of those mistakes. So for the Naomily Redux episode, I think Naomi would be working for her dream non-profit, only to find out that it's more complicated than she expected. It's not a perfect institution- it's not beyond corruption and making bad decisions. And so she'll have to come to terms with the idea that even though nothing is ever perfect, that doesn't mean that it can't be good or worthwhile.

Mini And Alo

Mini and Alo are probably the most difficult, because the Redux episodes take place pretty soon after series 6 (about a year after, I think). So they don't have a ton of time to change as people or for their situation to change. But the fact that they have a child together sets up a really interesting question: what do Mini and Alo look like as a couple when their relationship isn't all about sex?

Mini is afraid of failure, which she defines as being like her mother.  She throws herself into everything she does in order to succeed, regardless of what she has to do to get it. She’s often jealous of others, even when she shouldn’t be, and can be vindictive in an attempt to ruin other people’s happiness. So she's in a really interesting spot after the end of series 6. In some ways, she's become exactly like her mother- she has a child she wasn't really ready for and isn't totally able to support financially. She's had to put her ambition on hold for this new human, and I think Mini would really struggle with that. I think she would experience a lot of jealousy over the fact that her friends get to go off to university and keep partying, while she's by herself at home.

For his part, Alo has always struggled to grow up. He's playful, and high spirited, but also scattered and undisciplined. He’s constantly seeking new and exciting experiences, often without doing his research first.  He struggles with impatience and impulsiveness.  He wants to maintain his freedom and to avoid missing out on experiences. So I think fatherhood would be really difficult for him. I think he'd be the kind of father that his kid would like a lot, since he's playful and always trying new things, but he wouldn't necessarily be the kind of father his kid needs. He seems like he would leave all of the "serious" parenting to Mini and be the "fun Dad", sometimes endangering his child in the process. I think he would want to maintain his independence from Mini and the baby.

So that sets up a really interesting dynamic between the two of them, one that I think would make a great episode. Can these two people make it work for the sake of the baby, and, if so, how? I think it would be an episode where Mini feels stifled in the role of "mum" and ruins her relationships with her friends because she's jealous of them. Alo would kind of flit in and out of their lives, continuing to party like he used to, avoiding any real responsibilities when it comes to the baby. This would cause a lot of tension in his relationship with Mini, who wants him to be more involved. I think it would end with Alo finding his place as a stay-at-home dad, and Mini finding her place in the career world (maybe working for a fashion magazine or something similar?). Alo would finally come to terms with the fact that he's an adult with responsibilities that he can no longer ignore. And Mini would let go of her expectations of what her life "should" be like and her jealousy of people who are living the life she expected that she would have in order to find herself, both as a mother and as an ambitious career-woman.
