Hello everyone and welcome to my second day of blogging about Palestine

today i wanted to highlight some charities and foundations that you can financially support instead of big companies who are going to fund your money into guns and supplies for the Israel troops

1. Press - House Palestine

Press-house Palestine is a non-for-profit organisation which supports the journalists documenting the lives of people within Gaza. This organisation grants journalists with legal protection so that their experiences and freedom of speech can be presented online. ( they also have a instagram by the name @press_house_palestine ) This link provides articles about ongoing events within the country

2. Doctors Without Borders

i’m sure that there a high chance that you have heard about this one before, but ill mention it anyways since its a good charity. Doctors Without Borders is a organisation dedicated to supplying medical aid to places without proper access to it. what i have linked below is a donation link for their specific Gaza cause, which both implores for a ceasefire and provides Palestinians with medical equipment. you have the option to donate monthly or just one time

3. Islamic Relief Australia

this organisation is one that is located within Australia, but strives to provide food and water to the people. So far they have already given 16000+ people water and over 1 million ready-to-eat meals. They also have other donation links within the site that incudes to help rebuild infrastructure within Gaza and to help rehome palestinians to Australia. NOTE: There are other varients of this organisation within other countries such as the UK

4. Olive Kids

Olive kids is a foundation focused on supporting the children of Gaza. this includes education, medicine and food. This is another Australian-based foundation but that is because i live in australia. if you want to find region specific causes for your location then please google it yourself. Australian causes can be donated to by anyone anyways so you might aswell use this info anyways

5. Action Aid UK

this foundation focuses on providing Palestinians with the services that they do not have anymore, such as power and electricity. They do 90% immediately going towards the people of Gaza and 10% for future emergencies

I also want to stress two things. 1, if you arent in the right financial position to donate then dont, spreading the word does help aswell and 2, im not the excuse for you not to research yourself. all of these groups i found by myself via google, and as long as you have some media literacy, you too can find information. and you should find more than 5 and spread it around, i just wanted to highlight 1 from 5 different sections since i hadnt even heard about most of these until now.

okay so obviously people have been conquering other people and taking their land for literally tens of thousands of years but i was thinking, what are other examples of like "genetic displacement" on the scale of british settlement in northern america and australia? like, 95+% of americans have no or almost no indigenous ancestry, which is weird!

(although actually i guess this is in some sense less true now that we have a significant hispanic population, because hispanic people are often a significant chunk native. however the people theyre descended from were culturally and i believe genetically distinct from people living in what is now the US, for the most part. unless theyre from like, chihuahua and living in the southwest i guess)

anyway, its strange! its not usually how conquest works. i guess the new world conquests were unique because they brought new disease with them, which doesnt happen as much if its intracontinental conquest. but disease cant be the whole story because europeans also brought disease to south and central america and those arent nearly as genetically displaced.

an absolutely harrowing read regarding disability services in Australia

to even be considered for a disability pension or support or anything is an arduous process built to break you so you give up and don't take up precious resources that could be used to line governmental pockets

the process for me was multi-year and involved dragging my ass from here to there to see doctors of their choosing and sitting in uncomfortable rooms with strangers explaining why I'm so broken and need help, and to be honest as a white male with a relatively able body I have no idea how difficult it could be for those who arent

to go through all this only to be treated like the dregs of humanity, or even seen as less than human, is vile and disappointingly unsurprising

fuck governments and arcane bureaucracy and especially those who use the system to personally assault and torture those who need help the most

Jesus christ I am so sorry for grade school kids, it's just getting worse and worse isnt it?

For those who dont know about the most recent horrible implementation in schools (atm this seems to be centralized to Australia and the USA, but it's entirely possible it's being implemented elsewhere too), apparently a lot of school districts have decided it's a good idea to start forcing kids to lock up their phones without immediate or easy access to a key, with threat of immediate suspension if they're found not complying.

Schools are using something called a Yondr pouch (that costs those districts tens of thousands to buy, by the way) that is made to put phones in and lock with a magnetic lock. One of these is given to each student, and they are expected to lock it at a magnet set up outside the school (at least at my siblings school, I'm not sure if that is the universal set up or not) at the beginning of the day, and unlock it in the same place at the end. I couldn't find any articles talking about the issue in general, only for specific schools. Just look up Yonder pouch at schools if you'd like to read more into it, theres plenty of articles.

I'm sure that, as long as you've thought about it for more than two seconds, you can see how at best this is unnecessary, stupid, and useless (kids have Already figured out tons of ways past unlocking it, obviously), and at worst it could be fucking deadly.

How are kids going to coordinate their ride home from after school activities? Ask family to bring in things they forgot? Receive important and/or sensitive information from family during school? Go without alarms for medications? Call for help or warn others when someone is hurt or a fucking shooter breaks in?

I could go on and on and on about how fucking stupid and dangerous this is. It is Going to get someone hurt. No one deserves their school record being ruined by this. And even if some schools arent that strict, I can sure bet they'll play favorites.

Please, please, please, if this is happening in a school district that affects you or your loved ones raise as much of a complaint about it as possible. Talk to parents of other kids, talk about how dangerous this could be, email your districts, do what you can. If you're not affected, reblogging/letting others know and/or supporting people who are helps. And kids affected by this please just do your best to stay safe. Magnets will not damage your phone, so I reccomend finding any that are small and strong enough to open the lock to keep with you if you can, or look up other methods of unlocking them. Please, stay safe. I'm so sorry you're being treated this way.

arent ocean liners and cruise ships basically the same thing? how can you like one and not the other?

oh my guy, theyre certainly not the same thing.

they might seem similar to those of the world who arent super into ships, but theyre both different vessels by design and function. if youd rather watch a video detailing differences, id recommend this one by the great big move or oceanliner designs video comparing the strathaird to the pacific encounter, but ill also happily explain some basic differences because i like infodumping.

see we dont really have a use for ocean liners anymore; they were mostly phased out when jet air travel picked up steam. the only one existing today is the rms queen mary 2.

ocean liners acted essentially as buses for the sea. they offered regular passage across continents. the most famous route is probably the southampton to new york route which is what the titanic was intended for. most of the famous ocean liners were on this route like the lusitania, the queen mary, the normandie, the bremen, etc.

but there were plenty of other routes going across the whole ocean. the italian line had a south american service, canadian pacific had a whole thing from liverpool to quebec that linked to their railways, p&o did a lot of stuff around australia and aotearoa, etc.

because of the regular passage offered, ocean liners couldnt sail around storms like cruise ships do. they had to battle the storm to get to their destination on time which means the ships were designed with this in mind. they are designed to travel through open oceans to cross large distances while cruise ships tend to stay close to the coast and wont travel far at all, relatively speaking.

as such, ocean liners sit much lower in the water and will tend to have a long, pointed bow. this allows them to much more easily cut through oncoming waves. if theyre sailing around icy waters, theyll also have reinforced bows like the stockholm did. after titanic, ocean liners began to be built with a "second skin" to their hull which is just a second hull inside the outer hull to reinforce the ship and protect against damages from anything from rough waves to icebergs.

further, the bridge on an ocean liner will be higher up, often on the top deck. this both aids with navigation for the crew as theyll have better vision, but also stops high waves from breaking over the bridge and covering it with water. the very few times where this occurred were often rogue wave encounters like the lusitania and the leonardo da vinci. the lifeboats will also often be positioned more inward to protect them from any damage from rough seas or weather.

this isnt to say cruise ships arent built to withstand rough weather. they certainly are, but not repeated occurrences of it. an ocean liner was going to face rough weather week after week after week; cruise ships tend to have the luxury of avoiding it.

cruise ships will sit higher up in the water, their bows will likely be much softer in angle and they will sail at a much lower speed.

if an ocean liner is a bus for the oceans, then a cruise ship is a party bus.

while most ocean liners did have beautiful interior and quarters for passengers, they dont hold a candle to cruise ships which are comparable to holiday resorts.

as ocean liners were being phased out, many lines began operating them as cruise ships because they could easily be converted into such. this happened with plenty of ocean liners like the ss france. others were specifically designed to operate as ocean liners half the year and cruise ships the other half like the rms empress of britain.

however, a cruise ship could not operate as an ocean liner because its simply not built for that.

this isnt getting into all the ethics of both vessels and their industries because thats a whole different topic that i feel much less qualified to speak on.

i will say that i am not a fan of cruise ships or the industry as a whole, and that also, cruise ships are so fucking ugly, my dude. they look like badly designed malls dropped on top of ships.

OK this isn't a bug or even an arthropod for that matter, and I'm sure it's been brought up in the biology circles of Tumblr before BUT I wanna take a second to talk about the Giant Gippsland Earthworm (Megascolides australis)...

So, I'm sure all of y'all know the typical earthworm, just a few inches long, the type of little guy you find under a rock or in the dirt after a rainstorm, right?

Well, then you have these guys:

These gigantic worms are about 1 metre (3 feet, 3 inches) long, are 2 centimeters (0.79 inches) in diameter on average, and can get up to 3 metres (9 feet, 10 inches) long, yet are still only 200 grams (0.44 pounds) on average! Even their babies are 20 centimeters (7.9 inches) long when they hatch!!

Speaking of the babies, they take a shockingly long time (for an earthworm) to mature! They can reportedly take up to 5 years to reach maturity.

These guys, are, perhaps unsurprisingly, native to Australia (in a relatively small section of Gippsland in Victoria), and only live underground, about 52 centimeters (20 inches) down, in moist clay, near water, and arent really spotted often because of this- However despite the fact they're typically very slow, if they move fast enough in their burrows they can be detected. Why, you may ask? Because it makes a sound, one that sounds like gurgling or sucking apparently.

This species of worm is really fascinating (as are earthworms in general)! and I also feel it's necessary to bring up the fact it's also considered to be endangered

His apperence is quite different according to sources some say he looks just like a normal rabbit while others say he is more humanoid and is roughly 7ft long/tall.Some speculate that his small form is just mistake that really what they saw were regular bunnies while others say his big form is fake as it could have been just a costume.While some say maybe both forms are real it is unclear why he has them and how he changes them.

From sightings weve gathered that he is exceptionally fast and agile becuase whenever he was spotted he would run away at high speeds.Its theorized that he has more powers for example recently on an easter he was spotted in 2 distant towns which would either mean that there might has been an hoax in one or that he can go at unbeliveble speed or maybe even teleportation.How one rabbit woudl manage this?We dont have the slightest clue.

Sightings were most common in the 16th and 17th century especially in Europe whilst also being spotted in other continets too.While sightings of him have still been happening to this day for one reason or another he seems to be appering less and less for whatever reason.

i did notice a drastic change in colby from watching tfil like compare their australia/nz trip to their road trip with andrea (its the only way i can differentiate)… earlier videos he’s such a bundle of joy and, ljke you said, just happy to be there. he put up with being pressured and humiliated for content…

Yea, that TFIL roadtrip with Andrea was filmed in 2019, aka the apartment era, and that just seemed to be a really bad era for him, mental health wise. He mentions in another video (I truly don't remember which) from around that time that he went through periods where he couldn't really even leave his apartment or talk to his friends unless he was being dragged out to film, and that shows.

Lowkey, I always wondered if that wasn't part of why they abandoned the idea of living separately so soon...

Regardless, he still has his good periods and his low periods, even to this day, but he seems more solid with them (or maybe he's just better at hiding it, idk), so at least there is that.

we're getting all sorts of nuts news from twitter, both real and fake! the REAL news is that they sound-checked sister to sleep, a song from either the bullets or revenge era that has never been recorded or released in any way whatsoever. we've also got some fake set-lists and a fake leak of the lotms2's title.

I honestly think such a prime example of "because its beth" is when you look at Kerr.

Now let me start by saying I dont dislike Kerr, I dont like her, Im completely indifferent to her. But when I think of some of the things Ive seen from Kerr, I think you can look at how people react that says so much.

Obviously without the ins and outs of the latest racism stuff, Im talking about how she had used hashtags and stuff on old posts that she has now deleted and yet no one makes a fuss on them (and lets be honest, not that much fuss was made on the current racism thing even before we knew what was actually said), yet you have people bringing up those thatcher tweets with Beth that are as old if not older than the hashtags and stuff on Kerrs posts but yet no one really brings them up. And then you add in that Beth gets called racist just because she was asked a leading question and came out with an ignorant at best response but by no means was it "Racism" itself.

I also think that Kerr has shown just as much support for some "questionable" athletes in the past as Beth has but again, no fuss made on that. But not just Kerr in this case, SO many players have shown support/that they are fans of questionable athletes but again, I dont see people making a big deal about that.

Its just SO clear that its a Beth agenda because its so clear that there are plenty of other athletes that have done similar (and some even worse) and yet they dont get half as much shit and if it was years ago then they get the same people bringing up old shit for Beth that say those people clearly arent the same people they were then and theyve grown up. Its just constant contradictions with these people that show its an agenda

Okay, let me get this clear I'm a massive fan of Kerr for Australia, not at all for Chelsea. Having said that, here's my opinion.

I don't like some stuff she says and does. Sometimes, for instance, when she spoke up about someone telling her goals weren't valid, I found that inspiring. She was brilliant.

But some other times, she says and does stuff that would be genuinely questioned if it was anyone else. That's exactly the reason she went ahead and said what she said to that police officer. I don't think I mentioned this, but I stand by the opinion that she should not have said that. He may be an asshole she may not have meant anything and was very drunk, but still, she shouldn't have said it. I know there are sensible people in Australia who think the same way but won't say that publicly because we all love her. This time, she just said her usual arrogant thing, but to the wrong person. She may or may not be punished for it, who knows.

Another thing is, imagine if anyone else did this, the conversation around it would be so different. Now, imagine if Beth said something remotely similar, we'd all be crucified along with her. There is a bias in how fans perceive situations like that and their preconceived notions about players come in to play when they decide how to react to them.

Only a very few can objectively say yeah Kerr is wrong in the policeman incident, and Mead is wrong in the Krygios incident. But one is bigger than the other and let me tell you it's NOT the one that's been discussed on social media every time they want to drag the player, it's the one which has made the player a cult hero.

(I do find it hilarious that both EH and SK don't seem to think one bit before they speak. They're made for each other, no wonder they get along so well).

I myself am diagnosed and that was the way i was diagnosed myself, i explained another version which I myself was also diagnosed under, as you can see we cannot relate with how we were diagnosed, so this is proving my point that how you have gotten diagnosed is not a universal thing so you can now see why i was skeptical, because even with telehealth if you don't have insurance, it still costs money. which this also depends on where you live, because in America they do not care about free healthcare. and from the places that i understand that do give free healthcare like Canada if your a birthed citizen , and like Australia or smth, How you got diagnosed is not universal, it depends where you live and what hospital you go to ect.

You clearly weren't understanding the meaning of what this word is so i will put it here along with the example i previously stated. from the Merriam-Webster "a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings" you say you support Trans ppl but if they don't meet your criteria of what YOU think a trans person should be you, exclude them. your reply was also not related to the point i was attempting to make, "It's not hypocrisy to provide a safe space for a group and exclude people" You should have worded that better with the point you were attempting to make, Ill use a similar example to one a friend told me "i joined a adhd club and they kicked me out because i wasn't "adhd enough" Its what you are doing and its hypocrisy, you are telling people "yep i support trans people but oh if you don't have a diagnosis something that sometimes cost quite a bit of money, you aren't valid and you aren't transgender because i say so", not a exact quote but you should get the idea.

Do you hear how that sounds crazy, that everything i learned in all those years, I've labeled myself as trans is now just me being a tomboy woman who was just struggling with their mental health and how their body looked ect. ect. that's saying that my entire transition was just me pretending to be a man. that's so heartbreaking knowing that some trans people in my own community didn't see me as a man because i didn't have a diagnosis. but maybe you got a diagnosis before you started transitioning so you might not even know how that feels, but what do i know right?

I live in america. In a red state. I have zero insurance. I have not spent nor will I spend a single cent and yet i am being diagnosed in two appointments, one in person and one over the phone. I am not using telehealth. I also have an entire server full of diagnosed people. Some have been diagnosed for no additional costs to the physical medical services they attended to in the ER, physician visits, PBH, ect. So don't give me that. It is not difficult to get a diagnosis if you attempt to do so.

I used to be an inclusionist. I know that stuff is incorrect. If you can't afford therapy than maybe you should think before doing something that clearly shows you need therapy. You can always check into an ER and they can send you to a mental hospital. Normally medicaid covers those.

It doesn't count as sexual harassment (whatver they did to you)

You're blamed for it if you look a certain way

The cops literally don't fukcing care and they'll say stuff like "and ? What do you want me to do"

There's a lot of shame and victim blaming when it comes to these things so women don't even think about talking about it sometimes.

There are so many other reasons.

Sexual harrasssment is present everywhere but it is much more present and violent in MENA. Again, I'd rather have to deal with EU men than MENA ones any day of the week.

MENA men would call me a slut, and a traitor, would tell me i deserve to be raped and killed just because I was exmuslim. They would sexually harass me and touch me inappropriately whenever I was wearing a short skirt and short shorts, whereas EU men didn't really care.

In my home country I have to fucking cover My entire body during the summer whenever I go out. In the EU, I'm just so carefree like no one bothers me about not covering up, everyone minds their own business. EU men harrasinng me was a rarity.
