Wild with the realisation that he didnt finish this all, not yet. Theres still danger, the same thing that almost killed his brother is still breathing and can if it wants to do the same with the rest of his newfound family

Twilight i feel like is almost the same as Wild, but for other reasons. The Shadow almost took his life, and after he thought that it was finally dead, boom. That thing is still out there and maybe is gonna be around for some more time.
He wants to believe that theres something else also opening the gates, that the Shadow is really dead and it's just another weird monster who opened the one that Sky saw

Hyrule confirms it, and reminds Twi that no, the damn thing is still out there and will go in a hunting game with each one of them.

Wild realised his mistake, he didn't kill it, he destroyed it's defenses. What if he stayed and searched for every piece of the Shadow and destroy it? They will be having this same conversation? He hopes to at least for it to happend in another time

I know it is maybe something without importance, but the fact that Four is the one who we are focused, how he looks like he's carefull listening Wild's words of auto-inflicted guilt. He looks like hes thinking the statement carefully, Wild didn't failed shit, it wasnt his faoult that they were trapped in this whole mess across time, and Four knows it.

and here we got more of Wars being the traditional paramedic of the group! I remember a person saying that yeah Hyrule can heal people with magic, but Warriors participated in a war, so he knows basic treathening and i think thats so perfect and true for his character

If the Lion Camel Ridge trio and Demon Bull King resided in Flower Fruit Mountain for some time, did Wukong's four monkey generals not exist?
they might exist, but to be honest, it was the fandom that latched on to those characters in particular, as far as i remember they were barely background characters in the book.
i might be wrong cause its been ages since i read jttw and it was before i was into lmk so i wasnt trying to memorize details, but i think the generals are literally only mentioned in like one line in the whole book. realistically they were barely characters, and since we know nothing at all about them, they might even just be regular monkeys.
i think itd be interesting to see them in the show but i kind of doubt it unless theres a whole season centred on them, lmk doesnt really have enough air time to introduce lots of characters that arent relevent, especially ones like that that would require a lot of lore to make sense
(and also just as a small side note, i dont thiiiink that azure peng and elephant lived at ffm, in the book swk did throw celebrations and invite his sworn brothers, so i assume thats what that scene was)

I was looking through some of the asks and did my own research, but I think Barbatos would kill MC, if we are a threat. It says in theology that "Barbatos is an Earl and Duke of Jinnestan, ruling thirty legions of demons and has four kings as his companions to command his legions. He gives the understanding of the voices of the animals, says past and future, conciliates friends and rulers, and he can lead men to hidden treasures that have been hid by the enchantment of magicians."
So this got me thinking could Barbatos trick Solomon, Barbatos pulling the strings in the background, while the nightbringer may have been with us from the start... im thinking its either Barbatos (I wish it wasnt)

Okay well I think there are some things to consider here. Most of the characters in Obey Me are taken from religion, as we know. However, I would say they are loosely based on their source material. I think in the context of Obey Me alone, without considering how he is portrayed in outside sources, Barbatos is not likely to kill MC.
OM MC is totally unhinged, but they're also canonically very kind. I can't imagine that MC doing anything that would be bad enough for Barbatos to want to kill them.
Honestly, I think it's pretty unlikely that MC is going to be killed at all. We've already been down that road. You don't have to look any farther than Belphegor if you want to know what characters might kill MC.
That being said, if you are considering Barbatos outside of the Obey Me story, taking into consideration details about who he is as a demon in actual theology, then the story changes. But I don't think that stuff is very heavily relied upon when it comes to the Obey Me story. I don't think they're that serious about their sources.
Do I think it's possible that Barbatos could trick Solomon? Sure. Anything is possible in this game. But it seems unlikely to me since they have a history of trust and working together, even if currently Barb is pissed at Solomon. Do I think both Barbatos and Solomon are currently keeping secrets from MC in Nightbringer? Yes, yes I do. However, I feel like the chances of this leading to Barbatos killing MC are slim.
Now if MC lost their whole mind and decided to kill Diavolo or something, then I would say you might have a murderous butler on your hands. But that seems like an extreme situation. You could certainly write a really angsty fanfic about it, though.
I definitely think there is a high chance that Barbatos is Nightbringer, but I also think it's possible that he's not. This game is so unpredictable, my opinion on it changes all the time lol.

the love of a doppelganger. there’s just something about this fic that i can’t put into words. (it’s my finnlena one) i think it’s about the prospect of giving finn’s character a second chance whilst shedding light as to why his decisions, and his siblings had came to the point of, well, daggering him.

Oh my gosh, as a person whohas short term memory this question is quite hard to answer. Lol. but this line just IDK IT MAKES ME FEEL A CERTAIN WAY, OKAY?!

30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?
What honestly surprised me the most is what the tvd fandom did to me, tbh. i’ve been writing fics since 2017, but i’ve never been much hyperfixated like i was with tvd – i think that it also helped me that the fandom has an active community, AND tight-knitted as well we even have a discord server and follow each other on tumblr. So, yeah. I basically not only owe it to the wonderful TVD character (sans the salvatores, thank you.) but also to the people that inspired me, supported me and cheered me on with my fics! (i’m looking at you, @sunless-garden, @qvnthesia,  @wazman, @katherineholmes, @amandamonroe, @finnismyoriginalsin, @sevensistersofsussex, and everyone else!!

okay so after i saw the announcement of a stranger things animated show, i looked into it just for more context and found out that this year, a stranger things stage show opens in london, and as a british theatre nerd, i may have fell down a rabbit hole.
to preface, i have not studied drama since i was 16. i did not pursue further it as much as i wish i had. i have, however, seen many many plays and musicals, both amateur and professional. i know at least a little more than the average person.
so if youre remotely interested in hearing amateur analysis of what we know of stranger things: the last shadow, welcome:
"take theatrical storytelling and stagecraft to a whole new dimension"
so in one article, i found this quote. i couldnt find who said it exactly, just someone associated with the play.
i'm hoping, this is just marketing; i really hope its just marketing. because this feels a bit insulting to uh, a lot of people who came before. such as augusto boal who founded theatre of the oppressed or konstantin stanislavski or bertolt brecht or antonin artaud who founded theatre of cruelty.
i mention artaud because im expecting some elements from theatre of cruelty. if you look up any artaud plays or theatre of cruelty plays on youtube, youll probably get why.
but anyway, as you might have gathered, this hasnt inspired confidence in me. and i already wasnt confident because it is very difficult to translate film or tv to theatre, and vice versa. look at phantom 2004. i dont believe the duffers would be able to do this; this isnt even a knock on their writing, i dont think most writers could do this without practice.
and so i went to their website to see who else was involved
now is probably a great time to mention how inaccessible their website is. in the background of their website, there are small flashing lights all over the screen. theres no warning for this.
it literally triggered a migraine in me and i had to take my strongest medication for it. fuck you website designer.
(also, just gonna mention it here, i do like the poster and some of the website design, ignoring the stupid lights, but i cannot find the artist ANYWHERE on the website, which as an artist, fuck you)
anyway, first thing i did was look at who is writing it, and im in two minds about it. there are four writers credited: kate trefry, duffer brother 1, duffer brother 2, and jack thorne.
if you recognise jack thornes name, its probably because he wrote the awful harry potter play.
HOWEVER, hes actually quite a competent writer like 90% of the time. his plays tend to get at least 3 out of 5 stars. looking through the reviews, his best regarded plays are bunny, hope, solid life of sugar water, and his adaptation of let the right one in
that last one is very promising because he drew both on the book and film in adaptation. jack thorne does know how to adapt media into different mediums. he has also won an adaption award for his adaption of a christmas carol. his adaptation of the film after life has also be commended for being a good adaption.
this is not to say his work isnt without criticism. i mean, he wrote cursed child. he also has been criticised for slow pacing, shallow writing and one of his more recent plays, sunday, apparently had a "hello fellow kids" vibe. he is now in his 40s afterall.
so a bit of a mixed bag, but a good sign in terms of it not being simply terrible due to lack of understanding of medium.
i also have to mention that jack thorne is disabled and is an advocate for disabled folks in the dramatic arts. when he wrote the solid life of sugar water, he dictated that one character should always be played by a deaf actor. he does also write many disabled stories. his impact is a net positive.
(hes also frank skinners brother-in-law which is fun)
now, the other three writers have never written for stage, which uh, yeah, no, that does the opposite of inspiring courage in me. it is a very different process than writing for films or tv, and none of them have any writing credits for stage work.
on the poster, kate trefry is credited as the main writer which could go either way. shes not written much for screen. she has at least written stranger things episodes so shes not going into it blind.
honestly, i just hope they use jack thorne and his expertise more than they need to. hes the wise old man in their group and i really hope they listen to him and dont just try and do it all themselves.
now onto the director: stephen daldry. ive never seen his work live, but when i was studying drama, i really wanted to.
to give you an idea as to why, when david hare was working on via dolorosa, he had daldry as a co-director and when daldry responded no to hare asking if something was over the top, hare said "your top is situated some hundred yards above everyone else. ive seen your productions."
do you get why i want to see one of his productions asdfdesd his work tends to be very expressionistic and vivid. his directing style has been described as consistent stylised helming. hes won a lot of awards and he tends to get 4/5 stars at the very least on his works.
hes also helped to adapt the billy elliot movie (which is both fantastic and directed by him) to stage and it was fantastic.
hes also gay <3
the set designer is miriam buether. ive never seen any of her work live so i cant speak for the atmosphere it creates, but her setwork looks fine. shes versatile and doesnt need to go over the top with spectacle for her sets to look good.
in particular, i really enjoy her sets for earthquakes in london. the colour work there is *chef's kiss*
unfortunately, theyve kept it all very under wraps as to the tone the stageshow is going to take so i dont know how either buethers set design of daldrys directing is going to translate.
by combining them, i would expect a very expressionistic, very brightly coloured show, which, theres some cognitive dissonance round the corner.
also the premise is about young!hopper, young!joyce, young!bob and henry creel, with some kind of mystery. id expect a more naturalistic approach with this premise, but daldry isnt exactly known for that. so im in two minds.
however, one of his best regarded shows is his adaption of an inspector calls. ive only seen a naturalistic version of that and it very much reads naturalistic. daldrys was the opposite, even going as far as swapping out the fancy dinner hall for the blitz. so if anyone is gonna make it work, it would be daldry.
in terms of light design, thats jon clark. once again, ive never seen any of his work in person so im going off of photos but oh my fucking god i love his work with shadows. hes won many awards and he fucking deserves them.
sound design is the same. ive never heard a paul arditti sound design show in person and bootlegs dont have the best audio. hes award-winning, however, so it seems like thats in good hands.
one thing i was very interested about was how they were going to translate the upside down and the monsters. the show relies on cgi which obviously, you cant really do cgi on a stage; it would just look kinda shit.
their solution seems to be hiring two illusion designers.
i couldnt find much on the first, chris fisher. hes a member of the magic circle and hes done a lot of work so he seems accomplished.
the second one, im honestly kind of excited about. the second is jamie harrison who is the co-artistic director for a company called vox motus WHO ARE SO FUCKING COOL.
there is no mention of his partner in vox motus, candice edmunds, but that could mean nothing.
instead of trying to explain what vox motus do, im just gonna copy two quotes from their website:
"ours is a theatre of story-telling visuals, transformational design, magic, comedy, music, physical performance, puppetry, multi-media and most importantly thrills."
"we are drawn to stories that explore extremes of behaviour and taboos in the contemporary world: often unbelievable true tales that delve into the bizarre, glorious, exhilarating and macabre."
look up their stuff, its so fucking cool. there is also definitely some elements of artaud in their work. it gives me a lot of confidence for the show being enjoyable even if the writing is bad, because spectacle can go a long way.
i genuinely kinda want to go see this show now because i really want to see their work, and id get a chance to see a daldry play.
so like a tl/dr for this part: im not confident in the writing but i dont necessarily think itll be bad. i think the worst itll be is sufficient and mediocre, if they listen to jack thorne. i do have a lot of confident in the visual aspects and spectacle; even if the writing is shit, it will look good.
now im going to be an annoying disabled person and point out some accessibility stuff:
as i mentioned before, the website has small flashing lights all over the background. theres no warning for this. it triggered a migraine for me which was the best three options considering they could have also triggered visual disturbances in my eyes (aka seeing things that arent there due to my iih) or epileptic symptoms due to brain damage.
the theatre itself does have wheelchair access at the side of the building it also has accessible toilets. there is no onsite parking which does make it more difficult for wheelchair users.
they have said they will present captioned, audio-described and british sign language performances, but the dates are not yet set. they instruct you to keep checking . im a little intrigued about this and a little concerned considering its currently may 9th and it opens 17th november.
if you need accessible tickets, you need to have atg access membership. this is a third party company. to have this, you have to show paperwork or documents to prove that you're disabled which is often not possible for many disabled folks. i dont have a written diagnosis for anything besides my adhd diagnosis because i was diagnosed in person or over the phone. luckily, i receive pip so i qualify but its a ridiculous standard.
in the faq, theres a question about being aware of any potential trigger warnings; the answer to this is copy and pasted from the question above which asked about age rating and parental guidance, apart from them adding that there will be flashing lights in the show.
and finally some extra details:
there is a £3.80 transaction charge on top of ticket purchases
you cannot book over the phone
they are all e-tickets
currently, you cannot buy group tickets or student tickets, and you can only purchase a max of 6 tickets.
they are planning a weekly-lottery for late-release tickets, and this will be announced closer to the first show
there is not a confirmed runtime
they have no current plans to move the show outside of london
the age rating is 12+. this means under 16s must be accompanied by adults and under 5s are just not allowed in. not entirely sure how it works if youre age 6 to 11.
the most common ticket price i saw was starting at £45 (about $57). the second most common was starting at £75 (about $95).
there were some tickets starting at £20 (about $25).
i might actually buy a ticket and see it. i would have to save for it but i could do it and then tell you if its shit or not lmao

i think an important distinction in the proship v normal debate is that the argument of "if you asked someone who wasnt chronically online, theyd be okay with what [proship] is doing!"
but like... no? sure if your sugarcoat it / make it vague and say "im expressing my trauma through drawings projecting onto fictional characters" thats of course a totally okay and fine thing to do
but that is lying by omission? look on any nsfw-allowed site for nsfw of fictional media and i guarantee a proshipper that "does it to cope" is posting the most fucked up shit in nsfw tags.
is drawing X child character screaming and crying because Y parental figure is doing TRAUMATIC things to them, posting that in porn-specific tags -- tags people go through to find content to get off on -- is that coping??? no, thats making shit to be sexualised. "i still cope with that!" you are making a traumatic experience something to get turned on about ?
the average person disagrees with getting off on pictures of kids, drawn or not. actually, there are certain groups of people not involved with the proship community that agree with getting off on drawings of kids, most of the time they get prosecuted though
"oh but i never post in public porn tags only ps-specific ones!" its all still just porn??? finding those tags by crosstagging with normal porn tags shows porn is in those tags. you can literally just see for yourself and its all "X would cry and beg for Y to stop ********* them thats so hot" "Y wants to ***** *** ******** to X so badly"
that is not coping, its only 'working' on making you less afraid of your trauma by turning it onto sexual responses, which not only can totally progress into your real life (see, fiction affects reality) in ways like future employers doing background checks (wanna hope you werent using your main email for none of that)
But, also, can directly negatively affect partners (you only being able to get off to trauma stuff, not being able to have kids) and, it affects yourself (shoehorning trauma into positive sexual responses makes it much harder to detach from it than if it was negative fear responses ("the four trauma-causing agents [in factors that exacerbate trauma in CSA victims] are stigmatisation, betrayal, traumatic sexualisation..." source)
tldr; no, youre not coping, and no, the average not-chronically-online person would not be fine with what youre doing

it's a three way tie between cyclonus (a really good exploration of what the after-effects of war would have had on the population of cybertron [also hes Big Gay), wheeljack (i could gush for hours about his unwavering devotion to gears as his mentor) and termagax (who aside from generally being an incredibly multifaceted character had me clap and cheer like a white dad when a plane lands during her confrontation with megatron in issue 26 which is difficult)
scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped):
rubble is the only answer i could possibly give here, i stopped reading idw2 for an entire year because i was so upset when he died -- i could handle the admittedly tonedeaf execution of brainstorm on issue 1 but rubble getting offed not long after felt like a punch in the humerus
scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave):
despite not being important to the story in the greater scheme of things, it's nice to know that geomotus wasn't the sheldon cooper type caricature of an autistic person that a lot of people were fearing! i liked the moments of friendship he and landmine had he's great
glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week):
there was an issue where flatline appeared for three panels and my brain + heart lit up in stereo and i IMMEDIATELY made a post calling him handsome. it wasnt a proud moment
poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave):
the constructicons'* backstory, motivations, connections to wheeljack + termagax and the actions they took were all integrated incredibly across their appearances in Escape, especially given they only had four issues to breathe
* = i don't believe anyone hates them but they razed an entire population to the ground and i can't think of a single idw2 character infamous to fandom So

Tdps poc rep wasnt the BEST rep ive ever seen, i definitely noticed some flaws, but ive got to admit it was pretty nice to watch something that wasnt majority white
i think the search for “best rep” for just about anything is always gonna be futile, tbh. there will always be people left out, or minimally represented, in any work, i.e. a full black cast is amazing, but it also means that asian and hispanic and indigenous peoples are left out (presumably if no one is mixed race). but looking at things that generally handle rep well and are making real attempts / putting in some real effort is always worthwhile to me 
as i honestly can’t think of another show like tdp with
four black and asian interracial couples, two of which are also lgbtq+. it’s so refreshing to see interracial couples where neither is white for once
two of the three main leads being biracial boys who are open with their feelings and never shamed for it and also allowed to be badasses
callum being a viable love interest and also being mixed race / asian
nuanced and varied characterizations for the more minimal rep in the series (i.e. ahling and kasef, and kazi and khessa, are all very different personality wise; no one group of people is just an aggressive stereotype; all the groups are just as militaristic as each other)
callum actually going against the “gifted asian kid” stereotype
sarai and ezran (+ callum and amaya) being jewish coded - when do we ever see jewish characters of colour on screen?
harrow being a loving and very involved father to both of his sons
fan favourite characters like marcos, who has his own little arc from s1-s3, and crowmaster
consistent background diversity for that matter of like, crowd diversity, and also minor roles as well. allen and the vet from 1x07, the doctor and her assistant from 2x08. i think the only white side characters we have that the trio stumble across in their travels is villads 
most of tdp’s girls and women of colour having stories that mostly involve each other (i.e. sarai being defined by her relationship to amaya as her introduction, ellis and lujanne, amaya and janai and khessa, etc.) 
ezran always having his youth respected and protected
queen aanya being another biracial kid and kickass ruler
multiple dark skinned black men (harrow, corvus, ethari, that one councilman in s3) of various ethical and moral sides. like yeah, let characters of colour be messy and make mistakes and also be heroic and caring
and i’m really excited to see what it does next

11 Anti LO Asks
1. Zeus would make a much more compelling character if RS grounded his obsession with gaining respect in the context of his childhood: He could’ve been Rhea’s favourite kid and grew a huge ego/sense of entitlement as a result while feeling deeply under appreciated by his brothers and Hera for his instrumental role in rescuing them and his care for her respectively, unable to look past his own trauma and ego to see that they too are struggling with their own demons rather than neglecting him.
2. I’m gonna have disagree with that one anon saying narrators are always a sign of weak storytelling because that’s not always the truth. Hades the game for example has a narrator and it’s used very effectively to give it an fairytale-like feel, a funny thing for zag to comment on because he can hear them and he will often comment on the rude things they say, and also provides a bit of world building. A narrator is also good if it’s established beforehand who is saying the narration, such as a storyteller or prophet, and it can establish to the audience they are viewing something from the past, and they can speak when there are major shifts in the story, not throughout the whole thing. A narrator in LO isn’t even a bad idea, the issue is it should have been established much earlier, maybe even episode one is we’re being honest, instead of just coming out of nowhere to speak of stuff in the future? It’s also pretty purposely only being there to be a cliffhanger instead of even putting in effort to make it interesting enough for anyone to care or come back without the narration there basically begging them to care what’s going on. It’s very strange and shows a lack of confidence and effort in her writing to be so literally spelled out like that.
I agree with the other comments too. The font is atrocious. LO is usually really good with fonts and they picked one that was visually very ugly and hard to read with an even worse color. I didn’t even think the fonts would degrade too like the art, and yet here we are!
3. I love how rachel dropped the cover for vol 2 of LO and its just a treasure trove of book design failures. her name is on top, giving the impression both she is the title and she cares more about getting her own name out there over the actual story, empty space where the title should be, the title covering most of hades, the title being cramped so much to cover him, persephone being covered by volume two, the list goes on. the first cover wasnt much better, but this is much worse.
4. RS is willing to change aspects of the story according to fan speculation but isn't down to do anything that would retcon out the offensive stereotypes, the homophobia, or the character-assassination of apollo.
5. I’m pretty sure Hera and Echo will have an infidelity arc followed by betrayal thanks to Echo’s role in Zeus’s meddling. It’s already established that Hera is just as willing to cheat as Zeus is and Echo’s blue colouration and short hair is clearly reminiscent of Hades. Given how RS has stated that character colour palettes are symbolic, I wouldn’t overlook this detail (the one instance of RS actually sticking to her colour rules lol). Also, Ares’ comment just seems to imply it!
6. Yo I just saw RS Insta story- SHES ALREADY MAKING A VOLUME TWO BOOK???? When the first volume isn’t out yet?????? Tbh, I never expected this 
7. Daphne has more personality than Persephone. Though both came from the same deprives mortal realm background, Daphne is thriving. Unlike Persephone, she’s confident and willing to take control over her own life (though this is only illustrated in the context of her dating life which is sad af, female characters never get any other kind of agency in LO). Perse would be a more interesting protagonist if she had Daphne’s (still limited af) personality.
8. There seems to be a lot of infighting here regarding Myth Hades and Persephone and it's 'modern retelling' or butchering by RS.
All fighting aside on whether Hades was a good husband and Persephones role (or lack of agency) in the myth of the Kidnapping - what is actually wrong with appreciating the myth as is?
(Isn't the myth there to give an explanation as to why the seasons change? As well as being a story of a mother in grief over her lost daughter? And her fight to find her?)
Also, in that context, is there really something wrong with liking the... lets say more "modern" adaptations of the Myth where Hades and Persephone loved one another, so long as one understands and respects the original canon (sources) and culture from which it originated?
9. The way Daphne is drawn went from sweet girl-next-door to model with overfilled lips and too many surgical alterations to increase her sex appeal.. Her lips look like they’ve been stung by several bees in the latest FP what is up with that? It’s especially irksome since RS normally draws very nice looking full lips (I.e Persephone) but they just look so off on Daphne.
10. So Minthe being in the story so early on (and already dating Hades) is lets say an "interesting" narrative choice. Mainly because it feels like RS did this because she doesnt want to acknowledge that Hades may have loved someone other than Persephone.
Because (as far as I am aware) Minthe does not show up until after Hades and Persephone are already married. And Hades did care about Minthe (as I believe one anon mentioned - he named a mountain after her?) - and she was stomped on by Persephone for daring to say that Hades liked her more.
It feels like RS made this narrative choice because she wanted to (mess with the myths) showcase that Persephone is Hades 'One True Love' and the only way she could think do to that was to make Minthe a vicious abuser. Which is unfair.
11. Uh …. Why are they already publishing a volume 2 or LO only four months after the first one? If they keep that rate up won’t they catch up really quick to the actual comic and run out of stuff to publish? I would be pissed to get a book with a cover with effort put into it just to get rushed nonsense in the actual book. Girl take a break.
Also the logo is literally covering up half of the couple while there is a giant empty space above them so her name is the main focus. Either Rachel is shit at book cover design (likely) or she needs to stroke her ego real bad and make sure her own name is the main focus. Good lord.

i kinda just copied over my ideas for lasombra abilities for her lmao but to be fair i dont think the shadow stuff is entirely canon there? whatever we can reuse them fgfhgjh
im tossing around some names in my head currently and i seem to be liking myrcella/marcella a lot sound wise but im not sure if its whats going to end up being the final choice. i also kind of enjoy Florence as a nod to florence nightengale bc of the medical themes connecting with the whole mortician thing but that’s a pretty loose reference and im not sure it would be obvious enough. p set on Blackburn as the surname tho, i think that has a good ring to it & also sounds like it fits with the rest of the character names. i recognize that doesnt make a lot of sense but im sure you know what i mean lmao. i did throw together a look for her in the sims but ofc i dont have a screenshot on me and its too late to boot up my pc, but she’s pretty creepy & cute.
i also like the idea of her being instrumental in the ‘everyone lives/is revived’ au bc her background as a mortician/embalmer means shes almost definitely performed autopsies before & knows how the body works. i think her cadou would be left alone since its Very internal and we’re not about to do self surgery gfgjhkj heisenberg’s also has to be pretty well hidden? and imo i think he’s probably attached to his metal powers? like he’s legitimately human passing he’s probably just quasi-immortal or at least very sturdy and long-lived. alcina & her daughters are some others i can’t see any post-revival changes being made to, she seems fairly comfortable with her stature and bela/cassandra/daniela also see like they’d miss their abilities. donna might want some cosmetic partial removal just based on where her cadou implant is on the face & ms blackburn would be very much accommodating. moreau is. a whole other story gfhgjhj like im sure blackburn is just very much of the ‘yeah no we’re not bringing him back unless i can remove at least Some of the implants from him i feel like thats just inhumane at that point he has Four’ but also lowkey she probably gfhgjhk finds him annoying and since no one is even going to remotely approach the topic of bringing back m*randa, he would be. so much worse. (we’re also just like. gonna completely ignore what happened to the village itself or! perhaps the blast radius wasnt as large as we assumed? idk regardless the post-crystal-revival place of residence is still a village in the ass end of nowhere) 
anyway onto fgfhgjh self indulgent relationship ramblings lmao. this is all still pretty fluid in my head & im just playing with ideas. 
so like. karl heisenberg yeah? (are we surprised this is the one i went for i think not if you know my history). it’s 100% a tedious slow burn lmao i mean years of buildup. she’s fairly quiet and mostly keeps to herself however she also used to abide by the ‘keep your head down and obey’ strategy of dealing with miranda and i suspect that would probably? chafe with heisenberg a bit? because on one hand she clearly has no love for the woman but she’s also not doing anything about it. so they don’t exactly fight because it’s not like he really knows her well but there’s a long feeling-out period before she finally gets approached with the request of providing more of the organic components to his army. once again it’s a pretty neutral response & at first she’s more motivated by curiosity instead of anything altruistic but other time you know, conversations happen, there’s a nice little routine they’ve built up. he even walks her back after family meetings a few times without realizing because he’s focused more on whatever they’re talking about. i also keep going back to the glasses thing because its sweet & he can brush it off as something practical. the low-light vision is very much still an issue for her and while the factory is usually okay, some areas are still no good. same with a lot of the indoor areas in the village actually, to the point where her usual eyewear is basically a somewhat translucent blindfold to ‘muffle’ light (outside she’s got a parasol with a black veil on the edge of it too). so he just like. makes a pair with an appropriate lens but probably doesn’t mention they were made by him until years later lmao. but they’re super useful and she wears them often which i think he would kind of love & probably get weirdly bashful about. they probably don’t actually for real get together until after the game and things have more or less settled down & everyone is trying to figure out what they do with their lives next but i think seeing him again is probably one of the most blatant displays of emotions she’s ever had lmao. like as fun as the idea of a secret relationship going on while miranda is still alive is, i just don’t see either of them being receptive to the idea with everything thats happening. but after? that’s another story. feral looking man and woman who looks not feral but is actually just as unhinged inside, we love to see it.

Rory I want to start writing fanfiction but I have no idea where to start! Any tips?
omg friend i am very excited for you to embark on the wild journey that is fanfic. it is often very terrible but it is rewarding. im honored that you’ve asked me tbh — maybe if any of my writer mutuals have additional tips they can reply to this too??
ive only actually been writing fanfic for a few months! i jumped into it after writing a lot professionally, so it wasn't as daunting for me. but i rmr as a teen i always wanted to write fic but i had no writing background and id get so overwhelmed and just. give up lol
i guess i have three things… first, know the basic elements of a story. second, read!! and third, steal shit. ill elaborate under the cut...
story elements
i used to teach high school english and there wasnt a huge emphasis on narrative writing in the curriculum. but i always did a quick & dirty memoir unit just to expose kids to it. everyone talks about plot/theme but i don’t think that’s the hard part — you can have a pretty good idea of what story you want to tell, but that doesn’t make it easier to tell it. so i always refer to the four elements of a narrative (which i stole from a colleague or the internet or something… should probably figure that out one day.)
anyway. you’ve got character, which seems self-explanatory, but a big part of writing character is knowing them well enough to make decisions that seem right for them. you’ve got setting, which is where your characters are. this is my favorite sandbox to play in… i spend a lot of time thinking about whats in the room with my characters that they can interact with. it's a great way to overcome writers block when you can just be like: oh no someone spilled a drink on my guy! oh no it started raining! what do they do now? you've got dialogue, which is obviously the conversations, but more specifically, how is it formatted? what types of words is your character going to use? and finally, you've blocking, which is the description of what your characters are doing — did they scratch their ear? did they walk to the bar? did their eyes crinkle when they laughed? this kind of thing.
read!!
i was kinda vague about the elements because i think the best way to figure them out is to look for them in writing that you enjoy. that’s what i did in class — i gave the definitions, did an example round where we read and highlighted different elements in a text together, and then i let them practice a few more times with choice texts. look for these elements when you read and see what you think works. its different for everyone, because *style* — and thats a good thing! when you get an idea of the things you like when you read….
STEAL 😈
ok i am obviously not endorsing lifting whole parts of people’s fics. but fanfic as a genre is all about stealing bits and pieces from here and there and making whole new stories. so if you like the way someone describes something, make it your own! if you like a setting someone used, put your characters in it! you’re learning and practicing, it’s okay to mimic writers you respect.
this applies beyond just style stuff tho — steal as much from the source material as you need. i think it’s much less overwhelming to write little canon compliance/divergence stories, because you’re sticking within the clear bounds of an already created world. so like: what happened between these scenes? what would this scene look like from this characters point of view? what would happen if the character did this instead of that? aus can be super fun because you get to do whatever you want, but that can also make it daunting. half my fics on ao3 are that kind of close-to-canon tidbits — they’re quicker to write for me, so i just kind of spit them out when inspiration strikes lol. also, this isn't even fic-specific advice; i always had students write memoir because it's a scene from your own life. you know what has to happen, but now you get to practice the how of it all.
but yes! see what you like in others’ work and bring it into yours. share snippets with folks to get feedback or have them pump you up. and don’t wait until your writing is perfect to start publishing. i used to write for newspapers, and i cringe when i see some of my first bylines. but im glad i wrote them because i only got better every time i wrote something else. and also, the engagement you get from posting fic instead of letting it languish on google drive is great motivation to keep going.
ok. i got really long-winded here. but please!! write!! i wish id started writing fanfiction years ago instead of waiting until i was more confident in my writing. for one, id probably be a better writer. but also its just really fucking fun!!
and if you ever want to, come off anon/send me things!! that goes for anyone really. im very down to read ur stuff and pump u up if i have the time to!! (and give feedback, but only if you want it :))

Honestly ive kinda been drawing all my life! I hope that doesnt sound dumb cuz obviously almost everyone drew pictures when they were kids, but i know that it’s been a consistent hobby for me since i was little. By the time i was in 3rd grade I was hoarding notebooks to draw in. Cuz that’s something fun about me: i had a real huge habit of drawing in things that werent sketchbooks. Through middle school and beyond I did buy/receive sketchbooks, but I started out with various kinds of notebooks. One I had from like 2nd grade was like a hardcover, stationary-type notebook that I drew cats in lol, and I have 2 velvet lisa frank notebooks from 3rd grade. In high school and college I had a really bad habit of drawing in the margins on my notes and on handouts the teacher/professor would give. Those classes where the prof just prints out all the notes beforehand and gives them to you to follow along? Oh man, I spent so many classes barely listening while I drew on them! I also used to draw on my physics homework and tests and sometimes I even got extra credit for them (thank you jeff :D). I actually have a folder of various drawings I’ve kept from that 8yr time period and a lot of them are on classwork 😂
Obviously, I’ve been doing a lot of digital art lately, which I’m sure is what u were more curious about rather than the shit about drawing on my homework. I got a surface pro as a graduation gift in 2016 bc prior to that i had a wacom tablet and a janky ass laptop, so the gift was kinda a 2-in-1: i can do schoolwork AND art easily! i like digital art a lot and honestly im still learning new things abt it every time i draw. I use Leonardo currently (i’ll skip that story) but I started out doing digital art on sketchfu WITHOUT the wacom tablet in maaaaybe 2012??? 2011??? does anyone on this site remember sketchfu? Honestly couldnt even tell u how i found that site hahah the internet was just full of wonders back in the day. RIP sketchfu. Once i got the tablet tho some time later i used sketchfu still (i think) but also gimp and krita i believe.
Oh i suppose I should mention that i took art all four years of highschool and also minored in it in college! So it’s something i did academically as well as for fun. I keep thinking about going to art school for realsies but idk. I’m already $$$ in debt from my first degree i dont feel like adding to that 😅😓
Ok now for the second part of your question: I’ve also pretty much always done fan art! Ive never really been one for OC’s, EXCEPT for the self-insert superhero double life “comics” i wrote about a poodle named Sassy when i was in third grade. And then the knock off “comics” i wrote at a later time which honestly it was weird that i did a knock off of my own thing rather than just adding them to the original or making it a spin off with at least one of the og characters. Cuz it wasnt a spin off!! But anyway there wasnt really much to any of these characters; i just needed vessels to get my weird ideas out.
So anyway yeah most of what ive ever drawn has been fan art or self portraits, because its just easier for me to take characters that already exist and bend them to my will (artistically). Well excluding art assignments in school i guess because i would usually have to draw something specific and therefore not something self indulgent. But yeah ive drawn for lots of fandoms like the earliest i remember is warrior cats. Then theres things like pokemon and warriors and random other books i read thru middle school (i used to read a LOT but now im practically illiterate); spn, sherlock, and marvel through high school; and then marvel and bttf thru the end of hs and beyond. Idk i also have always loved looking at other peoples fan art and so im like “shit i wanna do that too!”. Tho i will say marvel was my biggest fandom and the one i had the longest interest in, so that was probably where the passion REALLY came from cuz I was drawing marvel stuff for such a long time (tho not posting shdjsk u have to trust me), but ive been doing fan art forever :)
(Of course, a lot of the fan art i was making prior to recently was drawn in lined notebooks or on homework sheets or what have you, and I wasn’t posting really any of it, but i was still making it and a good chunk of it still exists. Oh i should also mention most of it was with pencils or ballpoint pens like i wasnt doing anything too fancy. There was some digital art in the highschool-college time frame but it also really wasnt…much. Honestly i barely posted any of it here but I know some of it’s on deviantart)
I cant pinpoint the exact time I started getting more “serious” about my art in general, but i know the first pandemic lockdown gave me more free time and i was less stressed about schoolwork so i just kinda had a good outlet. (Tho i will say that prior, I had been in a life drawing club for a short while, and i had also been working on a personal sketchbook project that had me pretty ~inspired~ to do art. Also i watched twin peaks around this time and it inspired a lot of Feelings and i was making funky collages and other art pieced that were sometimes related to that. Some of those are on deviantart)
Honestly I think the Big thing with my digital art was coincidentally getting back into BTTF the summer of the 35th anniversary bc the fandom here was THRIVING and i was like “oh shit wait i want to contribute!” But as i kept drawing i kept wanting to improve and that leads us to right now where im constantly trying new things (whether subtle or obvious) and challenging myself to do full body drawings with different poses, and doing screencap redraws and what have you for various reasons (backgrounds, proportions, pose, etc)
So yeah :) Basically I’ve been doing fan art forever (I didnt even get into all the mediums ive tried but that’s another conversation bc this is already so long and convoluted) and it’s kinda coincidental that ive suddenly really gotten back into it and have improved dramatically in such a short time. My approach to flat colors + limited palette drawings
This is a follow up to this post  i made about how i go about figuring out a color palette for my limited palette drawings. an anon asked me about my actual technique of finishing them so this is gonna be an explanation of how I work in a limited palette with flat colors. I ended up with these thumbnails for a sketch last time so we’re gonna work from here and I’m gonna sort of walk through how i got to the finished version

first things first: every part of this process is just developed as a result of me messing around. take my advice with a grain of salt and if you think you know a way to do something better/that makes you more comfortable. go with that over what I say.
I’m honestly a little surprised when people express confusion about how i draw like this because it’s SUPER simple - literally all you’re doing is just stacking solid color blocks of shape. its very imprecise despite how sharp everything ends up looking. 
First things first is that you want to decide how you will be handling your edges throughout the duration. Do you want your shapes to be ultra-sharp and precise, or do you want a little bit of a wobblier, grainier edge? Both can look good but it’s VERY much a matter of situational basis. i’ve been favoring looser and grainier shapes so that’s how i’m going to be working on this.

on the left here, you can see the shapes made with precise rectangular selections and an untextured pen, on the right, freehand drawn shapes and a grittier pen. There’s something immediately pretty different feeling about them. So play around with that first - its not something that’s fun to change halfway through! But lets step back a minute. It helps to work large to small. The two biggest shapes here are these orange chunks and everything gets stacked on top of them so i’m gonna do that first. 
Now, a key feature of what i do: clipping masks. almost all digital art programs have them. What a clipping mask does is it constrains the pixels of a layer to the transparency of the layer below it. Here I have the light orange layer, and then on top of it the buildings and billboard are clipped to the orange. Most of you probably already know this and I’m overexplaining a bit, but there was a time when i didnt know how clipping layers worked and someone had to explain it to me.

now you’ll notice the shapes of the buildings are rough, and sloppy. here’s the fun part: since this is all about stacking shapes, only your exterior edges matter. this all gets filled in. be as sloppy as you want when you’re making your shapes. in fact, the outside edges get trimmed out a bunch to when i do this - i go in and erase them clean. Don’t be too finnicky about drawing perfect and precise! its a waste of time. As long as the silhouette is what you want, the interior can be a nightmare.
Working this way, it’s important to keep your layers stacked in a way you can make sense of. Right now there are four layers here: the background dark orange, the two main orange rectangle shapes, and then the buildings on one layer and a billboard on the other. I rack up a LOT of layers doing this and it makes it annoying in some aspects, but being able to freely recolor any one chunk without losing my detail is a key aspect of this.
So, I block those out

Next, I do the same for the smaller chunks that are still main shapes. There are once again, a lot of layers here. The top layer is the hair - you can see the head showing through it. The head and arm underneath the hair, same layer. Then the cup. Then the light green pieces of paper. Then the dark green ones.
The cup is technically farther forward than the head and arm so you would think it’d go on top, but the point isnt to recreate the foreground and background hierarchy with layers so much as it is to group things in a way i can work with. The cup goes underneath so it can be grouped with all the other objects on the table.

now, i just go and fill in all the shapes. i forgot to do the blinds but i get them later. you might notice a lot of these shapes are pretty rough, which was harder to notice before they were filled in. Now that I can see better, I go in with an eraser and clean up the edges until they’re the shape I want

sometimes erasing leaves little bits of ‘noise’ around objects like on this napkin here. i like to keep a little bit of this noise for texture, but if you dont like it make sure to get rid of it! if you’re working very crisp this will stand out a LOT
Next up is to add some detail onto the objects

I flipped the canvas here because the head shape was wrong - the ears were uneven and i wanted to fix it. I want to go about adding detail onto the billboard and buildings. i do all detail with clipping masks - but the objects are clipped to another layer and so nothing can be clipped to them. instead, i unclip them and just erase by selection for the same effect

all of the text on the papers is clipped to the papers below it. the buttons are clipped to the phone. the yellow photos and card are actually another independent layer on top, in case i want to recolor them separately. im indecisive and end up recoloring things a lot. For the most part these objects are starting to become recognizable as more than just shapes

i go in an add the details on the background and character now. theres some more stuff on the table. the lines of the face and ears are on one layer, and the flats of the eyes below that. Here’s what each group of layers is, and what they look like on their own

Finally, the top, which is just his head and arm. 
now this stage is the bare bones of the drawing. you can more or less tell everything that’s happening. it reads. but its very much lacking in something - it doesnt have a ton of depth or interest. and adding that additional detailing, the dept and interest, is where stuff starts getting REALLY tricky and subjective. 
im gonna take you to a much simpler scenario to show the sort of options i go through at this stage

ahh its our dear friend, sphere casting shadow. this is, more or less, the kind of image we have. you can tell whats happening but it’s lackluster. there are TONSSS of ways frm here that you can go add interior detail to a shape once it has been established. here are some quick and SUPER rough examples

from top left to bottom right: flat cel shading, softer airbrushed/gradient shading, halftone, and a textured brush. Each of these has their strengths and weaknesses. They can also be combined.

for example, here’s the solid cel shading being used to contain a gradient/airbrushed detail. This image - probably the single oldest piece of my art i still willingly show people - is entirely colored with gradients being contained in cel-shaded chunks. It has a sort of soft, luminous quality but without losing its crispness.

here’s a super quick bust with some variations of stuff going on. obviously this is no masterpiece but you see how different types of detailing can interact with each other and be used to distinguish materials too.

With the mob psycho comic I did, the detailing that wasnt line was done using a variety of halftones of different shapes layered on top of each other

by contrast parts of my ace attorney comic use a textured brush and have a sort of blended, papery feel

any of them can work for pretty much anything as long as you are using it with intent. practice around. mix styles of finishing together. find a comfort zone. the more you do it the more intuitive it becomes and at the heart of it this process is a very intuitive way of drawing because of how far removed it is from realism.
Now here is the trick - light and shadow.
Everything up to this point has been very flat and adding detail helps but there’s only so much that can accomplish. To get HEAVY light and shadow you need to think about things differently. I think if there’s any part of this process that’s complicated, its this one. 
To truly get the most out of your palette, you need to pick chunks of an image to be in higher/lower light and then either ‘step up’ or ‘step down’ the colors in that chunk. here’s what I mean.

Here’s our ball with a beam of light on it. Everything Within the beam of light is one step in our limited palette lighter than anything outside of it. Here’s how I go about doing this: the shape of the beam of light is below everything else. Then, once I have the shape blocked out, i select it. With that selection in place, i go to EVERY SINGLE LAYER that’s effected, lock the opacity, and recolor that chunk. So what’s going on here is that there is only one more layer - the beam of light, below everything but the background, and the rest of this effect is just caused by every layer above it now being two-toned following the exact same silhouette. THIS is why it’s so important to keep your layers separate - if the shadow and highlight had been painted onto the base directly, i would not be able to do this without significant effort. 
This works with all of the finishing techniques I talked about above

A combination of cel shading and half toning, all stepped up to give the appearance of heavier light on one area.This is also how I go about rendering transparency in this style. All of my layers are fully opaque and I allow the colors to do the work of conveying transparent material

it’s obviously not a very representational way of working, but as long as your audience UNDERSTANDS what you’re trying to convey, then you’re executing it successfully.
So with that, now we’re gonna go and finish this drawing.
For this one, I decide a big central shadow is necessary. In the original thumbnail, he was backlit, which I still plan on doing, and that wouldn’t make sense without casting a shadow.

I’ve had to change the colors of some objects entirely in order to get this to work right. This is what I mean when I call this an intuitive process - some stuff felt weird, so I changed it. This also involves a bit of problem solving. The newspaper is now unable to be separated from his hand. Sometimes changing the color of an object makes that object look better, but ruins its relationship with the objects around it. It’s up to you to learn how to adjust and finagle things until you get it where you want.The paper he has and the napkin underneath it also all blend together now.
The next few parts of this process are REALLY just trial and error, where I toss a bunch of spaghetti at it until it works. It’s hard to decide what to screenshot, because I don’t know what will or will not be part of the finished drawing. To that end, you can watch the recording of this drawing here. This video isn’t edited at all so it contains a couple of minutes of really shitty sketching, and then all of the color thumbnailing work i did in the last post. Actually getting started on these final colors begins around the two minute mark. It is also sideways, I am sorry I don’t know why.

Now, here you can see where I’ve more or less worked things out. His hand’s not on the cup anymore because my friend pointed out it didnt have an arm attached to it. I added some halftoning to make a gradiating effect in the sky and on the table to give the impression of a sunrise. His eyes are different but as of posting this, I don’t like them and am probably about to go back and change them again. The Cup now has a shadow and some rim lighting. His hand is in shadow. The stain on the napkin is big enough to define the edge of the paper on top of it.
Little things like that. 
The more you draw like this the more the way you need to think about your space becomes natural. I hope this helps and I wish you all the best of luck!
