for the most part he doesn't really notice when someone's flirting with him. i think it would take some very obvious hints.

so say someone is really trying to get him to catch on, pulling all the stops- fluttering eyelashes, unnecessary touching, one too many comments about his eyes, and finally, slipping a piece of paper into his hand with their phone number.

megumi can accidentally be a little cold.

he scowls at the phone number before crumpling the paper and dropping it.

"i don't want that," he's completely expressionless when he speaks, and honestly, the flirt-er is lucky he said anything at all rather than straight up walking away. "i have a girlfriend"

and then he walks away.

ok this is literally the sweetest ask ever like first off thank you so much ;_; i'm glad i was able 2 inspire you!!!

for me if you look at my old art there's little to no focus on shape language cuz i wanted to express a 'pointy' animeish style. examples are from 2020, 2021 respectively

as you can see i did NOT flip my canvas and my art was samey as hell,,, but in 2021 i started going for softer colors and shapes rather than points and spikes and brighter shapes. but, if you were to look through all of my art from either era, you'd see it's identical cuz i didn't care for shape language. this went on for quite a while :,)

then i discovered worlds end club in late 2021 and everything changed !!! i watched playthroughs cuz i didn't have a means to play at the time, and decided on making my artstyle a blend of cartoony and animeish - which ended up in choosing more expensive silhouettes and faces in turn

honestly i'm too tired to actually chronicle my artstyle change so i'll just skip to late 2022 in this timeline, sorry 😭

so by now has my artstyle evolved into aomwthing super cool n expressive ? no actually i think my art got worse in late 2022

as you can see, my colors got super washed out and i didn't really take risks, i guess? but i was finally starting to come into my own in terms of artstyle and was finally acknowledging shape language a little bit.

very early 2023 is the same, so let's skip to the one thing that changed my artstyle - the big 8 lineups

suddenly everybody was like 'wow your shapes are so good!!!' this was because i had tried to challenge myself with character design in these drawings. so i tried to emphasise interesting shapes more - using a technique where i'd just take an interesting shape or line that corresponded with a character's personality and repeating it as much as i could across the design.

like this deep cut art, where i tried to 'dial up'their already exaggerated shapes and design aspects (such as making frye's pants sag more or changing up shiv's hair. big man is perfect and needs no changes)

but this journey is still not over because a few months ago i rewatched all of panty and stocking and watched clone high for the first time, and both of these shows emphasise shapes a LOT in their designs, and i picked those up. here's art from a few months ago - in short, i tried to find the 'focal point' of the design, something that set it apart from other designs with similar body types or clothing, and built around that, if it makes sense? here's some art that i think expresses that well

comparing the new quintet art to the old one, i think you can also see that i started to try and use different body shapes and shapes in general (such as clyde having a more triangular build ig) . and tumblr doesn't let me add more pictures so this is where the overview ends !

my advice is - watch and rewatch anything that might inspire you, because it has the ability to push you in the right direction. for technical tips, id say -

draw different body types and age ranges (often times same face syndrome is born from only drawing the same age range, usually 15-20 for most sufferers)

play around with style - do you want a more western inspired style or something more akin to modern anime ? maybe something entirely different! try drawing in different styles that you like and see which ones stick

research fashion if only a little bit - it can help understand visually pleasing silhouettes (such as the famous big jacket or big pants silhouettes)

speaking of big jacket or big pants, contrast is key !!! top or bottom heavy designs are an easy way to express personality and an expressive silhouette ig

haters will act like he's irrational, but he stuck out so long with no support system since he couldn't trust anyone and managed to play things off even when he was finally starting to lose his shit in a situation when it was reasonable for him to feel like this (tbh even fans make him often crack way more easily to make shipping content, when he's so resilient and then on the other hand not really lone wolfing it either bc he cooperated as much as he could) his way of going about things was smart, there isn't much else he could do, Tsumugi was setting up others to distrust him as well

Ves: AAAAAAAAAAAUGH!!! he did he lasted so fucking long in the worst possible situation he tried so HARD to cooperate and it just. did not work. if i think abt how quickly his plans fell apart i will explode i'd b doing so much worse in his situation

sometimes it's just like, you're talking about paranoia? trust and attachment issues? untreated mental illness? I think we have to be introduced, there's so much I could show you. I am not saying he doesn't have anything of the sort, but there's a lot more of reasonable justified distrust there, and still, it could be so much worse, trapping the next person who thoughtlessly assigns him diagnosis in a demonizing way in a room with me and making them listen to me rant about my failed relationships history for educational purposes

they will learn about all kinds of issues

Ves: it's trueee people act like he's so strange for breaking down but LIKE??? HE'S PRETTY NORMAL FOR THAT ACTUALLY???? he clearly already had Issues but the killing game was perfectly packaged to dig into those this is why DRS and UTDP mostly suck at characterizing him they're still stuck in the idea of him at his absolute worst he was nicer even in ch1 than he is in some of those events

[and then my amazing wife dropped this bomb, and she says I'm the smart one smh] Sini: The thing is, there’s him being shitty on purpose and him pretending to be the mastermind/making himself appear suspicious. There is a clear difference in how he acts. In DRS and UTDP he usually just comes across as playful. Yeah he’s a jackass, but I think his whole “bad guy” persona (the one we see in the beginning of the game) goes beyond the killing game. I see it as a way for him to protect himself, to push people away and not appear as vulnerable. As he’s said before, everyone always sees him as a villain so it’s the perfect role for him. I think that reasoning goes beyond what was happening to him in canon. I do agree his characterization could’ve used a bit more reworking, but I think for the most part they did a good job in showing how differently he acts in a peaceful setting in small ways. The fact that he never uses his scary sprites once or is seen to be more nice with characters like Mikan and Gonta. Especially with Gonta, where he seems to be more vulnerable around. And while this was probably just a mistake, I like to think him being shown as not as pale in DRS as a sign of him getting better. In a non killing game environment he seems to be doing pretty well for himself. But that’s what I believe, anyway

Ves: h that's really sweet actually,,,i may have been a LITTLE hard on the side modes. it's mostly the way he treats kiibo that drives me INSANE, the mikan n gonta stuff is [ok hand emoji].

Sini: Yeah, I agree. I can understand the Kiibo hate, but he doesn’t have to go as hard as he did in game. It’s not like there is a reason to suspect him. The only thing that could maybe explain it is maybe he suspects he could be tied to Monokuma? Since he, the Monokubz, and Monomi do exist here. He was rude to Monomi and seems to suspect her of being not what she seems ALSO, he’s always gonna be a little shit cause he’s a greedy whore. He wants attention and entertainment so badly.

Ves: THISSSSS it's so important i have seen so many people question why he does things where the answer is literally just that he wants attention like there is not always a plot sometimes he just wants shuuichi to chase him

Unless some HARD retconning happens it leaves this like. Hole in an aspect of c!Ranboo's arc and decisionmaking and it's very. Uncertain? God. Fucking months ago I was already kind of :huh. NOW. KNIFETRICK, FINALLY

Knifetrick (or, as it’s actually listed, Bishop’s Knife Trick) is a fic about "Ran and Jackie from The Pit TFTSMP" in a "canon-typical ambiguously romantic relationship." As you can tell from the scare quotes, especially if you've seen me vague, both of these are, to put it politely, Doubtful. I've read the fic; I will not be sharing my opinions because that would be neither productive nor responsible (I will just say I can't recommend it and leave it at that) but I WILL say the following that Is relevant to the conversation:

Ran's and Jackie's characterizations respectively have very little to do with characterizations from The Pit, and bear a dollar-store-version resemblance to tropes and personality motifs found in ESPECIALLY fanon c!beeduo, especially later in the fic. I would not go so far as to say they are Intentionally Literally Ranboo and Tubbo but they are transparent expies and were clearly written at LEAST unintentionally w/ c!beeduo in mind (esp since. Ran and Jackie barely interacted in The Pit), and for a readerbase that, as far as I can tell, is HUGELY dominated by /r c!beeduo shippers. Like. Sorry. This is off-brand c!beeduo.

The dynamic between the two is pretty unambiguously romantic, also; despite what the fic's white knights claim, romantic tropes and implications/motifs/imagery from at LEAST chapter two, and is very much explicitly romantic by the most recent chapter.

FROM CH1:

"And now, with raised eyebrows and a pursed lip, the newly named General Jackie observes Ran in such a way that makes the enderman’s skin crawl. Ran reminds himself that this kid, as short and harmless as he may look, is trained to kill. I WILL SAY, HOWEVER, STEPPING ON THIS SCORPION BEFORE IT STINGS: they are not written in an RPFy manner and I don't think there's any grounds, including Vibes, of accusing Knifetrick of being like. Closet truthing or whatever. Also, while I think there's certainly Some Weirdness ESPECIALLY around the reaction, the romance itself is Not written in any way I'd call weird or problematic pre-clip; it's nothing inappropriate or like Weirdly Fetishy or whatever. Knifetrick is not #problematic or anything and I don't have beef with like the concept of liking it intrinsically; if I thought it was like. Abhorrent I wouldn't be sharing excerpts lmao dhjfnhdsbvdnfjh. Hence: if anyone uses this post or anyth like it to send harassment or bad faith ANYTHING to anyone involved with Knifetrick I will hunt you down in the fucking night even if it WAS #problematic that'd be the LITERAL OPPOSITE of productive and as it stands it's Literally Not. Essentially: Knifetrick is a (questionably-written /mean) fic using Ran and Jackie from The Pit as a vessel for a large chunk of the dynamics and headcanons of fanon /r c!beeduo in particular

And again, I would not call it problematic in any way (aside from the disingenuity of the insistence that it's TOTALLY UNRELATED TO BEEDUO and TOOOTALLY WASN'T INTENDED TO BE ROMANTIC GUYS like own your shit please)... IF it weren't for the advent of The Clip, which is calling in2 question the Entirety of the problem of /r-ing any variant of c!beeduo or any of Ranboo's characters at all

Do I just consider an arc retconned? Was it an issue of speaking abt a troubling subject kneejerk wise and I'm reading too much in2 it?

- has a lot of chemical burns/scars caused by bad lab safety

- has the worst sleeping schedule ever. Has fallen asleep in his lab more than once. This becomes even worse after the uhh… incident… due to nightmares

- I’d actually argue that this ones canon actually: he DOES believe in magic, he just doesn’t practice it (like… he never says magic is fake, he just says he doesn’t work with it)

- every year quirin and varian visit the dark kingdom and stay there for a couple of months. Varian uses his alchemy and engineering skills to help with the kingdoms revival

- while visiting, his aunt and uncle tell him embarrassing stories about his dad when he was younger. Quirin is not amused, but varian is thrilled to learn more about his fathers past

- definitely bonds with hector over a mutual love for animals. Hector loves his humane animal trapping idea and asks varian to implement it in the dark kingdom.

- adira teaches him how to sword fight. She also enjoys picking apart the inaccuracies in the Flynn rider books (which annoys varian immensely)

- tugs at his hair and chews his lip when stressed/anxious (this is 100% not projection haha what are you talking about-)

- lance and the girls come around to his house every few months to ask him if he wants to join them in a camping trip. He always says yes… eventually. He brings along books and equipment to study wildlife, but he almost never gets a chance to use it with Keira and catalina always dragging him into stuff

- (ok but fr I think lance and him would be very good friends. Like. An actual friendship outside of “teenager has to babysit grown man because he keeps touching dangerous things.” Canon did these 2 dirty)

- would say poggers unironically

- enjoys inconveniencing Frederic at every opportunity. Covering his throne in alchemy goop. Embarrassing him in front of nobles. You name it.

- after prison, he develops a phobia of being trapped. When entering small spaces he immediately checks off any escape routes unconsciously.

- RAPUNZEL AND HIM DO PIANO LESSONS TOGETHER. I personally think that both knew how to play before meeting each other, they just enjoy it and learn new things from each other

- visits the saporians in prison every once in a while (yes, I know their relationship with him wasn’t exactly healthy but keep in mind they were his only support system for a long period of time. I find it hard to believe he would just immediately forget abt them post-redemption) I think he would also be willing to give them a second chance and help them redeem themselves.

- as well as his fear of blood, he also is very squeamish about any sort of medical situation (eg needles). This one definitely isn’t self projection either…

- Starts a Flynn rider fan club with eugene and Edmund. It’s a book club that mostly involves them re-enacting their favourite scenes poorly

- Has had a crush on both eugene and cass. Bi king. (If any of y’all tag this as ship cuz of this I’m blocking ur ass)

- wears gloves at all times cuz he’s got sensory issues

- idc what canon says, Varian would be deeply uncomfortable creating a weapon that uses amber.

- I know that this was proven false by the creators, but the idea of varians last name being ruddiger is so fucking funny to me that I still hc that it is regardless. Like he he just found this raccoon and went “oh I have the perfect name for you” and it’s just his fuckign last name

- his hairstreak isn’t due to a moonstone connection (srry moon varian fans) but from an experiment gone wrong. Ulla was teaching a young varian a basic science experiment. She left for about 15 seconds to go and get something and when the came back he had blue hair. She managed to get all of it out with the exception of a single strand

- Actually surprisingly strong for someone his size (from helping out his dad in the fields).

- becomes good friends with Faith! She tells him all abt different types of flowers and he is happy to listen! He helps w her cleaning duties with his alchemy. They also enjoy talking shit about the king together <3

- has written self-insert x Flynn Rider fanfic

- he’s the kinda person who has a ton of random sketches in his notebook. In between his work notes you’ll find drawings of his close friends, raccoons and the occasional invention idea that he’ll probably never finish.

- speaking of which, he’s very good at drawing from memory (can’t relate)

Iris is his LR so she’s at the center of all that he is & inspires to be. He would be completely lost without her which we saw once he find out Iris was missing

Completely agree, nonnie! Iris grounds him and when something is wrong with regards to her, Barry’s whole world crumbles, literally. One thing I think season 6B did really well is build up to 6x16, in the sense that everything slowly comes apart for Barry after Iris is trapped in the Mirror World. His world really starts to collapse, and each episode we see things essentially get worse, and 6x16 comes along, and everything comes to a head, essentially. So, in that sense, I do think that season 6B really portrayed how Barry’s world literally falls completely apart when Iris is trapped in the Mirrorverse, really showcasing therefore how Iris both grounds Barry and is his world.

I don’t mind explaining my view of Tanigaki but, of course, I can’t claim to own the truth about him so it’s okay if you feel like not agreeing with me.

Now... although I often end up talking about Ogata and Asirpa, Tanigaki too is one of thecharacters I love. He’s actually one of the guys who got me into Golden Kamuy. And ofcourse, like all the characters I love, he makes me wish to bang my head againsta wall.

Now... first, to make sure, I think the post you’re talking about is this? Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

And now, back to Tanigaki, I’ll try to explain you my feelings regardinghim.

Mind you, I’m sure Tanigaki isn’t a jerk or a guy prone to slack off. He’sa complex man who’d like to mean well but... made many mistakes and hadn’trealized it... or has actively turned his eyes away from them.

I’ll go in chronological order instead than in a chapter order because Ithink it’ll be easy to follow his story.

Beware, what follows is a list of moments in which Tanigaki showed he’s not good at taking care of others and at taking his own responsibilities. Tanigaki isn’t just this of course, there are other moments in which Tanigaki is a great guy. This list however isn’t meant to list them.

It’s also a subjective list as it reflects my impression on his actions so don’t take it as words from Noda sensei.

And now let’s start.

In chap 75 we learn of the drama that signed Tanigaki’s life and set him onhis current path.

His sister’s house had been burned to the ground and, inside it, he foundhis sister’s burned body, stabbed by Kenkichi’s knife, while Kenkichi isnowhere to be found.

His first assumption in the middle of his emotional storm is that Kenkichi has murdered her and so he goes in mad rage to the home of Kenkichi’s parents and threatens them.

Now I understand in that moment he was in an emotional storm and wasn’t thinking straight but times go by as he searches for Kenkichi (and then hears a rumor saying he has joined the 7th division).

At this Tanigaki immediately decides to go join the 7th division so as to get revenge on Kenkichi. His family is against it and he leaves them with rude words as his revenge on his dead sister is more important than his living family members to him.

And this is already a pretty bad thing to do.

We see his mother is crying, the rest of his family is probably grief striken. I get he’s angry because his sister was murdered but did he have to hurt everyone else because he was hurting?

He could have left them in a gentler manner if he really felt he had to because it would drive him insane not to go... but really, truth is he shouldn’t have left at all and remained to take care of HIS LIVING FAMILY, instead than trying to avenge HIS DEATH SISTER that won’t have any benefit from it.

It’s not all though. Time has gone by. His anger should have calmed a bit. Kenkichi was someone he knew, someone he probably could call a friends as the two were close enough to go on a first name basis without honorifics and only a year apart. They had likely grown up together.

Why is he so sure Kenkichi could have done something like that?

I understand circumstances were against Kenkichi but was Kenkichi such a terrible person it was obvious to assume he would murder his sister in cold blood, burn the house and escape with no good reason at all? Shouldn’t he had thought ‘I’ll give him the benefit of doubt and ask him what had happened first and afterward, if he turns out guilty, I’ll kill him?’

No, he didn’t.

Murdering Kenkichi is Tanigaki’s way to cope with the pain of his loss.

He’ll always blame Kenkichi for his pain even when he’s told he also played a part in his mother’s death.

What’s worse is the way he wants to kill him.

It’s a clever way, of course, as Tsurumi likely had Ogata kill whoever was on his way with the same method... but whose murders are tactical in nature. Ogata is fundamentally Tsurumi’s hit-man. No, it’s nowhere near a good thing, actually it’s pretty terrible but that’s how things work. They’re clearly not good guys to do such terrible things, but well, I don’t expect them to be, considering their aim. It’s job, nothing personal, and Tsurumi is likely careful to make sure the killing will happen in such a way it won’t cause damage to the army and therefore to himself. Tsurumi doesn’t want to lose this war or to get killed.

Tanigaki was supposed to be a good guy... nothing like a bad one... yet his murder is personal, but he doesn’t have the guts to face Kenkichi first and make sure he’s really guilty, he’s trying to find a way out from being punished for his murder and, although Tanigaki is presented like a guy who believes in comrades, war buddies and stuff, he wants to murder one of his comrades (on the battleground Kenkichi is one of his comrades) in the heat of the battle without caring for the damage this can cause to his faction.

If he had shoot Kenkichi sooner, Kenkichi wouldn’t have managed to save them by stopping the guy with the bombs strapped on himself.

This is not anymore a murder in the heat of rage and desperation, it’s a planned murder in cold blood, whom he wants to carry on without caring about the damage he can inflict to others and of the possibility Kenkichi might be innocent.

Tanigaki is so taken by his narrative in which Kenkichi is the culprit and the person to blame for everything he doesn’t want to see any other possibility.

But still... Tanigaki isn’t a monster. Although he still plan to murder a dying man who had just saved his life... he hesitates.

Maybe ironically what stopped him are Ogata’s words as Ogata assumed he was there to help Kenkichi, reminding Tanigaki at the core he is a good person, not a murderer, maybe not but still Tanigaki hesitates and this gives him the chance to hear Kenkichi call his sister’s name.

This pushes him to do what he should have planned to do at the beginning, ASK FOR EXPLANATIONS before judging Kenkichi. Fate will help him in get what he’s asking and from Kenkichi’s explanation it’ll turn out he wasn’t the monster Tanigaki believed him to be, that he deeply loved Tanigaki’s sister and that he did what he did because it was the only way he had to help her. While this brings peace to Tanigaki in regard to his sister’s death... actually he doesn’t know how to build upon it.

Kenkichi’s confession proved his path to revenge was the dumbest thing Tanigaki could make. He caused further pain to his mother, who died, he attempted to murder a man who actually was innocent, he ended up involved in a bloody war that mentally scarred him and all... for nothing.

Tanigaki is ashamed of himself... which does him honour as he realizes he’s the one to blame but, instead than acting like an adult, go back to his home and apologize, he prefers to hide in Hokkaido.

What if his father is suffering like his mother for the loss of his sister and for how Tanigaki left? What if he merely managed to hold a little longer than his mother but the grief will eventually kill him too?

Tanigaki is ashamed... so he hides, he doesn’t apologize, he doesn’t want to go to his father and say ‘I’m sorry, I was wrong and you were right’. He doesn’t deliver Kenkichi’s words to his relatives but let them live in the uncertain and grief.

While I understand him... well, he’s not taking care of his family or facing his responsibilities.

It gets worse.

Tanigaki decides to remain with the 7th, is involved in Tamai’s little expedition, wounded by Retar and left there.

Now, Tanigaki is a soldier with obligations toward the 7th and toward the comrades who were with him and that were using him as guide.

What’s his reaction?

He wants to hunt Retar.

He doesn’t go to report to Tsurumi. He won’t search for his comrades. He wants to hunt Retar. Tsurumi and his men were searching for him Tamai and the others, a sign he wasn’t allowed to disappear for so long.

This is of no concern to Tanigaki. He wants Retar.

Of course this is his subconscious trying to tell him something, to go back home and return being a Matagi but the point is a mature person would have still kept in mind his obligations to his comrades and the Army.

Tanigaki instead goes on his personal quest to find Retar and joins forces with Nihei.

I love the relationship with the two with Tanigaki in the beginning looking down on Nihei due to him using a Murata rifle,

without knowing anything about Nihei’s phylosophy...

way to hunt...

or life (Nihei also uses that rifle because it belonged to his deceased son).

Again, like he did with Kenkichi, he judged someone without knowing all the facts and was proved wrong.

Nihei, who doesn’t even know half of Tanigaki’s problems, tries to help him by understanding what Tanigaki truly need, to go back home. He understands Tanigaki is making excuses because he doesn’t have the guts to go home but wants to. Nihei wants to give Tanigaki a way to overcome his shame by giving him Retar’s pelt once they’ll have killed him.

I think Nihei wanted to help Tanigaki because he saw in him the son he lost and who couldn’t come back home. I love how they bond and how Nihei tries to be a father for Tanigaki, teaching him but also listening to what Tanigaki knows and accepting his suggestions. Nihei really wants to help Tanigaki go back home.

Although Tanigaki needed medical aid ironically Nihei understood what Tanigaki needed the most was going back home. That if he weren’t given an excuse to go back home he wouldn’t be capable to do it on his own.

On the reverse side, although Asirpa and her grandmother will give Tanigaki medical aid they won’t encourage him to go back home but they’ll let him keep on hiding from his family in their village (no, I’m not blaming them, they don’t know Tanigaki’s situation).

Now, I get Tanigaki didn’t want to warn Tsurumi about being there in fear this would betray the fact Sugimoto too hung around that village but his actions were still irresponsible. He should have found a way to tell the army where he was as they were searching for him. He wasn’t really allowed to decide he could remain among the Ainu to help them.

The Ainu could also end up in troubles as Tanigaki could end up being judged a deserter and in many countries who helps a deserter to hide is punished as well. The truth is Tanigaki doesn’t want to go back to the Army and while I fully understand his wish, this is again irresponsible and wrong toward the guys he called comrades.

Then Ogata drops by and we see it’s only due to him Tanigaki spared a moment to worry about Tamai ando Co. His surprise makes clear he hadn’t asked about them to Sugimoto so he doesn’t know how they had ended.

Tanigaki is however fast to judge them. If they aren’t with Tsurumi they’re nothing to him even if Tamai and Co hadn’t attacked him, Ogata is attacking him under the belief he killed them and Tanigaki knows nothing of their reasons...

Too bad he’ll later tell Ogata he ‘has cut ties with the 7th’.

If Tamai and Co were despicable for having cut ties with the 7th why he doesn’t feel bad for doing the same?

And he has cut ties with the 7th already even if he’s not really admitting it to himself, because he takes advantage of how everyone is distracted by Ogata to sneak back to the Ainu...

...and later will move disguising himself.

The Ainu points out to how, by now, since Tanigaki is making obvious how he doesn’t want to go back to the 7th he should return home...

Note how Tanigaki doesn’t say ‘yes’ nor seems happy at the idea.

Then Inkarmat came along and she worried Huci and he decided to go search Asirpa. Now... I don’t want to think he did so to escape going back because, really, Tanigaki seems genuinely worried for Huci but... we’ll discuss it later.

For now let’s focus on Tanigaki’s travel and how Cikapasi will join him.

Tanigaki’s idea of dealing with the problem was... doing nothing and hoping it would go away by itself (as in that Cikapasi would go home by himself). When it turns out that’s not the case he finally faces him. Cikapasi asks to say, Inkarmat agrees and Tanigaki... plays along, I guess. I can’t find him warning the Ainu about Cikapasi being with them but since he wrote to them I’ll take he did it. The point is when Inkarmat is in danger is Cikapasi who hurges Tanigaki to save her. They were travelling together, she’s now a woman in danger and Tanigaki needs a kid to tell him to help her?

And so we reach the Anehata arc. Tanigaki has said he travelled all that way to bring Asirpa back to Huci.

However when Asirpa rejects the idea thinking it’ll make her look as if she were a child, Tanigaki says nothing.

Asirpa wouldn’t have acted as a child if she were to go back. Tanigaki knows first hand the treath on Huci’s health is genuine. His mother died for the same reason and he set himself on that travel to avoid this happening to Huci. Yet he does nothing to make Asirpa change her mind. He doesn’t tell her about how he lost his mother, he doesn’t tell her going back wouldn’t have been the act of a child but of a caring grandaughter.

It would have been fine if he were to try and failed, but he doesn’t. True, he’ll remain with Asirpa to support her in her travel but he doesn’t really set her straight on the risk Huci was running. This makes me fear he’s using the whole thing as an excuse not to go back home.

It’s clear he doesn’t know well how to handle his relationship with Inkarmat. I’ve talked other times with it and I’m also willing to give him a pass as he’s apparently not experiences with women so, probably, he doesn’t really know how to act with her but, although he tries to protect her from Ogata, he’s of no real support to her.

Inkarmat is a troubled woman with a sad past behind herself, plagued by Wilk’s memory which is, apparently, the happiest memory of her life.

When Tanigaki confronts her about the whole rice thing his reaction seems the one of a jealous man, more than of a supportive man. When Inkarmat explains him her reasons, he accepts them but he’s still not really supportive, more like ‘I’ll let up to you close this chapter of your life and once you’re done with what you’ve to do and I’ve done with what I’ve to do we can be together’.

This is not terrible per se as he were letting her have freedom and trust... but it’s not offering support along the way even though Inkarmat just told him about her sad past and she might have needed support to face it. But okay, as I said I’ll give him a pass as the whole thing with Inkarmat is mostly ‘unknown ground’ for Tanigaki... even if this might be part of why Inkarmat will feel it’s all right not to warm him about how she was passing info on Tsurumi.

Fast forward to post Abashiri, Tanigaki decides to leave Inkarmat in Tsurumi’s hand to ‘save Asirpa’ or so he says but fundamentally he carries along Kiro’s knife to ‘return it’ by stabbing him as he stabbed Inkarmat. He doesn’t make sure Cikapasi will remain home (even though he was the adult in charge of Cikapasi) so Cikapasi ends up tagging along and since they’re hunting two dangerous men the travel might be dangerous this time.

And so we reach the point in which he stabs Kiro.

Differently from Kenkichi this time it was self defence, so I don’t blame him for stabbing Kiro... I blame him for wanting that so much he left behind Tsukishima and, when Koito went back he didn’t follow him. Tanigaki was their guide. He should have made sure Tsukishima was following and shouldn’t have left Koito alone. The same way I scold Koito for leaving Tanigaki alone, I also scold Tanigaki for leaving Koito alone. Tanigaki is probably older and surely more experienced and they had been just attacked. He shouldn’t have left him alone.

So that’s my list of moments in which Tanigaki failed either at taking care of others or of taking care of his own responsibilities or both.

Mind you, as said before Tanigaki didn’t do it out of ill will or lazyness. He often meant well or did so by mistakes or because misguided by his own feelings. Tanigaki genuinely wants to do the right thing, to be a good person. He cares for many people and would like to help them. But still, he failed here and there and, in some cases, other people paid for his failure.

I was really, really hoping his travel to Karafuto would end up showing he had grown and can be supportive and help the people he cared about because I know Tanigaki is a good guy and can do it... and I’m really sad to see among his goals for the Karafuto trip there was ‘return that knife’.

I wanted him to be the one who’ll support Sugimoto, who’ll tell him revenge will bring no good and instead Tanigaki had a wish of revenge in his heart as well.

Tanigaki has changed from the start of the story, changed in many ways but sadly not in this one. This is a true pity and I’m really sad for him because Noda seemed to have set up things in such a way we can expect Tanigaki to have to pay the price for his own wrong choice.

And I can’t help but be worried for him.

Now of course you might feel differently from me, as said before I’m not Noda and I don’t own the truth on these characters but still I hope my reply at least helped to clear up my past words. Thank you for your ask!

WHO KNOWS ... plus they mention this version is in 1958 not 1959... so if we assume they’re the class of 59 then they’re juniors in this (w the possible exception of the boys OR danny was held back a year??? bc he would already be Old for a senior if he’s eighteen before september (altho i k in america there’s slightly different cutoff dates + also in some versions sonny is mentioned as failing multiple times ?)

hello, ive logged out of this account bc i find that i think me rereading all these makes me feel shit but, other things contributes to it. my december has been amazing, i got anxious a few times but compared to 2017 it was a big jump. I met a guy, he really makes me feel all butterfly again but must remember not to have high hopesssss,, lmao rmb the last time i said that LOL anyways, im here to let go everything that happened this year that still boggles my mind to this day, throw away the bad memories before 2018 ya know what i mean january, was 'eh' i guess, it was the start of the new year, busy but honestly great, met ice & kicked of feb being all happy. ice left, i cried. went to his bestf, his bestf got a girl then left me hanging. february was when i met fererro, nothing sparked yet but yeah. march, it was terrible, but i still had that positive mindset that everything would be okay soon but it went down from there. my anxiety spiked & i had breakdowns frequently in school. it was SHIT. april came about, it was my busiest month and must i say, i broke down everyday of that month. POP was around the corner & planning everything w SOME people not cooperating made me feel like shit and that decreased my confidence level and i loved my cca so that was me breaking apart from them, plus i fell super sick. with everything done and free, i cried. i cried for the freedom i felt but also breaking apart w my third family. it was the month i was pretty happy bc i got pics w my eye candies, including ferrero & sulfur. may, it was one of the quietest month, however all the study stress got to me and i really felt so much more anxious than i was before and my confidence dropped so much. june, the holidays, fasting month. what can i say, a mess. i fell sick most of the time, i couldnt bring myself to study bc of how sick i felt & i really felt like shit. but it was really a calming month until, ferrero confessed. haha amazing right? well, the next day he realised he liked someone else better. u could tell, i cried the whole day the week after & luckily red flag, so i couldnt fast. but that my whole confidence shattered. july, was the onz study period. i felt so stressed, so anxious and so depressed, i broke down in school, infront of my friends. all the tears i held back all fell down. but also i kept thinking abt ferrero, who was the girl he liked. my thoughts abt it ended, when he told me. my heart shattered, it was funny, it was someone i disliked then. it made me dislike her even more ((but, now we good so is alright, if u see this sorry! )) i kept thinking why? why her. but i put my heart and soul to sulfur. bad choice. august came around, i can say i was pretty positive this month, it was my birthday month,, it was a great month, until the end around the 29th, things suddenly changed, i lost a friend, a bestfriend. what was even worse was it was on my birthday. september, was one of the month with the most tension, most tension w my so called brother, seven. too many nicknames sorry haha. but it was all good after the days went by. i felt like shit tho, the worse i ever felt so far this year. i really felt so anxious this month sometimes for no reason. october/november, my exams month. i was absolutely stressed out, balancing my studies, taking care of my mental health and being a stupid ass, thinking abt ferrero and sulfur. i felt so sucidal, so out of it. ( i wouldnt be surprised if i didnt do well but i really hope i did. ) anxiety was at its absolute peak. mid-end november, i had camp after camp. firstly, cca camp. (not my sch cca but the cca community of the cca i was in, u get it? u get it. ) i was so so anxious during that camp and i felt dizzy most of the time it was shit !!! bc that was what i loved before all this shit happened & i couldnt continue bc i was worried fr my mental health. haha yes i quit aft that. then i had poly camp. that one was great. rlly it was. i was less anxious. probably bc it was really relaxed and all. december, someone left, but it was alright. chill bc i really just calmed down and relaxed thruout this month. so yeah, if u read this far thank you omg & i hope this would make me feel much better to start the year a new. hope to not see you again, but maybe to see you for positivite entries ❤️
