Genuine question, but is it ok for a white atheist to care about what’s happening in Palestine? Because it’s not like this affects me, and I don’t want to offend/harm anyone.

Why wouldn't it be okay...

Is this about social media's obsession with laying out weird rules for what others can or can't post... I don't subscribe to them at all.

You can post about all the injustices happening in the world. If you feel like your community isn't very aware about these things, all the more reason to post and talk. Being an atheist or white doesn't make it problematic to talk about these things nor does it disqualify you from talking about genocide, ethnic cleansing, murder etc...

i know i havent been active in a while (and i probably still wont be after this, school is super difficult rn) but please look into what is going on in palestine, specifically gaza. if you live in the west you may have heard that terrorists are attacking israel. what the media is saying is incorrect and ignores decades of history dating back to 1948, when palestinians were kicked out of their homes by european settlers. to make a very long story short, the people of gaza have been under siege for decades in an open air prison where no one can leave, and they have faced routine bombing from the israeli military. what happened october 7 was retaliation after decades of violence.

in response, the IDF has started what can only be described as a genocide of gaza. although they claim they are attacking terrorists, they have bombed everything from homes to hospitals to schools. the palestinian death count is more than a thousand. they have cut off electricity to all of gaza and bombed press buildings, making sure no one inside can tell the rest of the world what is happening

please keep the people of gaza in your prayers, and stand up for the people of palestine in any way you can. speak up about what is going on because gazans are unable to do that themselves at this point.

i may be "late to the party" on this, but its still important to talk about. the situation has escalated in the past 5 days and will probably escalate even more. we are witnessing a genocide happen.
