HI IT’S TIME TO GUSH ABOUT CLAIRE!!!!!!!!!

First of all, what a kind and sweet and supportive fucking soul. Literally brought us the joy that is fic club, and just in general is always hyping people up and reccing fics and leaving the sweetest comments and just being the best person ever.

And of course, her writing talent. Ohhhhhhhhh my god the way Claire has mastered pwp, emotional arcs, complicated plot, all of it???? MWAH.

A favorite of hers for me right now is The Broken Lines, her post-WWI fic that jumps between timelines to help stede discover the memories and love he’s lost as he bonds with a 1719 version of ed who, too, has lost the love of his life. I could hardly put it down for anything once I began, you could just feel how much knowledge and raw love Claire poured into this story. It’s mysterious and heartfelt and intense and gentle and sexy and heartwrenching and a million other things, god if I keep talking about it I’ll just have to reread it all right now! (And big shoutout to Gerlinde and Boy who did the fucking incredible art and podfic respectively!!!)

I also have a soft spot for Rinse and Repeat, where Stede keeps coming over to fuck Ed once a week like clockwork but then runs out when his timer goes off like a sexy Cinderella. Just a very fun and funny fic that quickly turns heartfelt and sweet (of course it does, it’s Claire!)

Is masturbation as big a ‘risk factor’ (putting in quotes bc I don’t wanna sound moralizing or anything) for uti’s the way partnered sex is? any behavior that can introduce bacteria to the urinary tract comes with a risk of UTI. having sex solo will generally be introducing less new bacteria to your body than getting up close and personal with an entire other person, but cleanliness is still important. make sure you have clean hands and toys, don't cross contaminate from the anus to the vagina if you have one, and staying hydrated so that you can urinate in a timely manner when you're finished. it might not be possible to 100% prevent UTIs, but you can definitely decrease the risk!

Mostly this tells me I've been writing more of Stede POV lately (several of these fics like #5, #7, and #8 switch POVs). I love Ed POV so much though. Many of these fics are modern AU (#5, #10) / Animorphs AU (#1 and #2). I've got missing scenes from s2 (#3, #4, #6, #9). And then there's innkeeper era (#7 and #8). Some start mid-action, most require some set-up prose to get us where we're headed. I like that they all start differently.

Also YAY for collabs and gifts; I love community. The collabs represent some of the most fun I've had in ages, maybe ever!

I’m gonna be bratty and pull from unpublished stuff because otherwise I won’t have ten, but they are complete 😅

1. Ed is turning in his bachelor’s in mathematics. (Objects of My Affection, modern OFMD au, sequel to Writer’s Block, unpublished)

2. One semester in grad school, Stede was single handedly teaching two 200 level courses after the supervising professor had just up and disappeared to Thailand. (Writer’s Block, modern OFMD au, unpublished)

3. It happens in a thunderstorm, because of course it does, cause it had to be a big, poignant moment that would stick in his bones and pulse along to the rhythm of his heart and never leave him when things got quiet or when things got loud or when things simply were. (Anything We Want, 1880s OFMD au, has podfic, this is probably one of the most beautiful pieces of writing I’ve achieved if I have to rec one under-read piece it’s this one)

4. There’s a ringing in his ears. (I Want It All, modern OFMD au, has podfic, sequel to WYOCMWYH, refining my hurt/comfort palate)

5. Stede was well used to the feeling of watching Edward as though from afar, even if they were right next to one another. (Different Names for the Same Thing, modern OFMD au, has podfic, and I’m doing a discussion for this one in the fic club discord today!)

6. "What is your mission?” (It Wasn’t Me, modern OFMD au, this one is pure lighthearted comedy and a short one so if you want some quick easy fun i rec her)

I was tagged by @edsbacktattoo, @summerlinenss, @spirker, @piratecaptainscaptainpirates to share the favorite things I've written! I've loved seeing everyone's responses to this and have been adding to my ever-growing MFL. 💕

First we have my "heart story," my magical realism fic The Merry Strays of Lighthouse Sanctuary, which is technically two stories because I wrote the first one in a day for Our Flag Means Party, and then that little idea exploded and I ended up writing another 115K to go along with it. The basic premise is "what if a house was built with so much love it came alive?" Took a lot of inspiration from The House in the Cerulean Sea in terms of vibes, so if you like that, you'll probably enjoy this one. Feels like being wrapped up in a big gay hug. Also recently re-read this one and made some minor edits to prepare it for a book binding and have to say, it holds up. I cried at the end.

Next I'll highlight my beloved Clock Boys, which I feel like was my Peak Writing for OFMD experience. I came up with this idea when I passed a clock repair shop and went "heh, dark and mysterious shop, what a great place for a PWP. Hey, this reminds me of a random clock fact I picked up from one of my favorite shows. Hey, let me do some googling. Wow, clocks are really horny and also have a ton of nautical ties. Cool." I posted the first PWP fully expecting it to be too niche to resonate with most people. It is shameless smut with more clock puns than I can count. But NOPE. People were INTO it. And maybe it's weird to get sappy when people tell me they love my PWP but I do get really sappy when people tell me they love the clock boys just because I never expected anybody else to do so. ANYWAY currently three stories, planning on a fourth for AUgust, probably mostly stand alone if you want. Just have to know Ed's a (w)horologist and Stede is horny for c(l)ock.

Next, I don't write a ton of canon fic just because canon is so perfect to me I don't want to touch it much, but I did really love how read me like a book came out. We have Ed going through great lengths for a Big Romantic Gesture and Stede always willing to "yes, and" him, even when he doesn't have a clue wtf is going on. It's unhinged, it's silly, it's romantic, it's got a lot of banter in line with those cut improv scenes... it makes me happy.

And finally, I'll highlight forever is our today (who waits forever anyway). I, uh, struggle keeping things short, but I managed it with this one and I think it may be one of the loveliest things I've written. Ed is a sea god who falls in love with mortal Stede and they're both punished for it. It's a lot of bittersweet, but also Buttons and the Swede are muses, so. You know. Got some silliness. And a happy ending. Prommy.
