kyle's waiting for his breakfast sandwich to be heated up when he watches the guy who's been eyeing the pretty thing in the corner finally muster up the courage to slide into the seat across from them. he can't blame the man. he's been sneaking looks at you, too, admiring the line of your throat and the book that's stolen all your attention – enough that it doesn't alert you to the approaching stranger until it's too late.

you startle when the man pulls out a chair and kyle bites his cheek at the surprise that blooms across your face, your brows pinching in polite confusion. you stare at him, bemused, eyes wide behind large, circle frames.

the bloke introduces himself with a smarmy, albeit shaky grin. kyle nearly snorts when he reaches out to snag the book from your fingertips. your lips part in poorly concealed astonishment, eyes narrowing in muted frustration when the pages close with a snap, your place unmarked and subsequently lost as the man continues to make a poor impression.

it becomes increasingly difficult not to laugh when he overhears the murmurings of your conversation over the thrum of the cafe, a pickup line delivered awkwardly that doesn't quite manage to cover up its condescension. your expression is a cross between concerned, as though you're considering asking if he's well, and distinctly uncomfortable, like a cornered animal.

he'd like that look much better if it weren't at the hands of an overconfident twat who wouldn't know what to do with you. him, though – kyle's a practiced hand in dealing with sweet, shy things liable to spook at the slightest sound.

your suitor is amping up to ask for your number when he kicks off the empty table he's been leaning against and slides into the chair next to yours.

"baby," he says, by way of announcing himself, relishing in the way your eyes widen further, embarrassment in the corners of your mouth at the attention, "they were out of the pastries you liked so i got you a muffin. they're just heating it up now – oh. who's your friend?"

the man in question looks between the both of you, colouring when you lean slightly into kyle, a shaky hand coming up to rest against his arm.

"oh! um – thank you, you're so sweet. he was just telling me how he –" you pause, uncertainly, as though unsure how to explain. discomfort wears itself openly on your face, slipping into the pretence with little grace, as though the dishonesty makes your skin itch. that was fine. he'd borne worse, for much less. he'd carry that for you, too, in time. "didn't like my book?"

"oh." he laughs politely. it's obvious to everyone at the table that this is at Bumbling and Awkward's expense.

"boyfriend?" the man asks, letting go of your book and kyle smiles, reaching out over the table to offer his hand.

"nice to meet you, mate," he says, all teeth. it's unnecessary to kick a dog while he's down. kyle already knows he's going to back off by the way he wets his lips nervously, but he squeezes his hand anyway, unforgiving, smiling all the while.

the interloper takes his leave with a muttered excuse within the next minute. you watch him go, lips turned down in a displeased pout before turning to your saviour. kyle, with great reluctance, draws away and lets your hand fall from his arm.

"he looked like he was bothering you," he explains, affecting a bashful grin. "sorry if i scared you."

you shake your head fervently, leaning in conspiratorially to whisper, sneaking a furtive look as though he might make a reappearance over kyle's shoulder. "he just sat down and started talking, i didn't really know what to do. thank you...?"

his eyes widen and he laughs, offering his name. "some fake boyfriend i am, where are my manners? kyle."

you smile shyly at him, doe eyed and honey sweet. "thank you, kyle."

kyle knows a thing or two about pretty little lambs, but he's caught in your snare for a moment, heat rushing to his face before he clears his throat.

"just doing what any decent man would," he coughs, and changes the subject. "did he really tell you he didn't like your book?"

you grin, wide and a little incredulous. the warmth of the shared joke keeps the december chill at bay, the frosted marrow in his bones softening.

"he did," you laugh and the sound spears straight through him.

"can't blame him, though," he muses thoughtfully and you tilt your head inquisitively, brows arched in silent question. "pretty thing like you, i would've minced my words trying to impress you, too."

like ink in water, he watches you register the words in a slow diffusion, stunned into silence. he'd been right, that he'd like it much better to be the one flustering you.

the sound of his name interrupts the moment and you follow the sound with him to where one of the cafe staff holds a paper bag.

"back in a tick," he tells you with a wink and you tip your head forward in a dazed nod. something in him preens when you follow his movement as he stands, leaning in as if to give chase before catching yourself, quiet embarrassment evident in the flick of your lashes downwards.

"thanks," he tells the barista, and then turns back to them with a stunning grin. "actually, would i be able to get a muffin to go with that too?"

gaz my beloved sneaky who refuses to leave my mind...a tribute for the most beautiful man alive in hopes he'll stay off the brain long enough for me to focus on finals. anyway...first kyle piece kinda nervous

There's compilation videos of all the times Gaz kinda blushes/smiles softly when Alex calls him a pet name. There's compilations literally titled "Alex for SIMP President" and it's just all the times he's being Alex and in love with Gaz. The Among Us video fuels these like gasoline lol

There's "Soap Being Scottish" compilations.

There's "Times They Forgot Alex is an Amputee" compilations

There's compilations of Gaz's side eyes to his camera every time one of them says something really wild/insults him directly

Once he and Alex move in together there's compilations of "Times Alex Interrupted Gaz's Stream Just For CuddlesTM" and it's all the times where Alex just walks into Gaz's office and sits on his lap

There's "Times Gaz Had Beef With A Weird Russian Dude" compilations, but they're just every time anyone, especially Gaz, brings up his misfortunes with helicopters, especially when Nik is the pilot.

There's Ghost compilations that always comment on his dark humor/edgy humor; there's compilations on all the times he's referenced 'death' in his life (like how in some games his tag is "LegallyDead")

From @eaveplzzz 's tags during a reblog of the OG post, there's so many theory videos on what happened to Alex's leg; why do they always say "Classic Soap" or "Soap NO" when he has a bomb/sets off an explosion; Who Is Ghost? theory videos are a big hit, especially the ones about if he's actually "legally dead" or not; the theories about what happened between Gaz and Nik

Gaz eventually being convinced to do vlogs.

His first one is "Moving In Together" and it's literally just a cute/funny video taken from highlights of his stream where he and Alex unpack a bunch of boxes while answering questions from his chat. (the compilation videos go hard after this stream/video goes live) *there's one question during this where someone asks Alex if he's missing his leg because he sold it to help Gaz's career and he just beams at the joke while Gaz screams into his hands*

This stream/video was so popular Alex suggests they make an entire channel dedicated to doing streams like that again/playing games just the two of them/a day in the life type super duper cute shit *there's one clip where they start slow-dancing cause they're listening to a playlist put together by the chat and a slow song comes up. There's so many music video-esque compilations where there's a love song/dedicated-to-this-one-person-for-the-rest-of-my-life songs play to a bunch of their cute moments with the slow dancing in the kitchen being the refrain*

He does eventually post a vlog style video but it's just random bits of things he recorded while at a big gathering over the Christmas holidays with everyone. There's a few ways viewers piece together who is who: Soap because he's the only Scot, and they're always yelling his name in some fashion, Dylan (Gaz's friend) is also easily picked out, Nik once again due to his accent, and eventually everyone catches on with Price *comments go crazy spamming the time signature Price first appears with "Daddy??"*

What surprises everyone the most is when Ghost finally makes an on-camera appearance. It's a brief video, where he's smiling at Soap and Gaz doing something silly. It's just Simon in that moment: no mask, no black around the eyes, his hair is recently cut and styled, and he's happy

*bout to make it sad for a second y'all*

There's a stream once where Gaz makes it clear everything he makes during it go to a Veteran's Help program. It's before the holidays, a very vulnerable time for all veterans, and it's just a quiet stream where he plays a relaxing game and answer questions from chat. He talks about Task Force 141 (briefly and in as little detail as possible), he talks about the helicopter incidents, how he met all the guys he plays with, he talks about he and Soap getting up to no good together, he talks about some of the struggles he had adjusting to civilian life since he didn't know anything else, how much of a help his friends and Alex had been.

It's later revealed the reason he did the stream is for Simon. Because even though it's been years since the incident with his family, it's still something that can hurt badly to this day. How he and Soap were shopping for gifts for Soap's several nieces and nephews. How there was a little toy plane that made the exact same sound Simon's nephew's once did. They even looked the same. How a little blonde boy begged his mum for it. The child looked so familiar it broke one of Simon's barriers.

PTSD isn't curable, it doesn't just disappear over time. There's ways to trigger really bad episodes, and this was just one of those times. It was hard for everyone to see Ghost have such a big setback, but for Gaz? The way they all found ways to help Ghost during it. The way he and the rest of the team, their friends and loved ones, helped reach out to pull Simon back onto his feet. And Gaz wanted other veterans to have that support, especially during the holidays.

He and the 141 (Price, Soap, and Ghost) eventually start doing charity streams just for veterans and the many existing resources for them. They're always wacky, sometimes they're gaming, sometimes they're all in-person doing a fake game show with some of their friends. There's one where they all travel to Mexico to host one with their Las Almas friends to benefit North American veterans' benefits charities.

I don't know, I'm just having so many thoughts about this AU I might just write an entire GazAlex fic based on their lives involving Gaz becoming a big creator.

as the composing session wrapped up, flynn practically bolted out of the booth, leaving coral and the baby to join nate and casey inside. needing a breather, he headed outside to clear his head. just as he stepped out, she spotted a familiar face—someone she recognized from photos but had never actually spoken to. Kyle had had a small handful of deals fall through lately, and his boss certainly wasn't too impressed with him, especially since he came so highly recommended from his brother who'd been in the position before him. Of course Kevin had moved on to bigger enterprises and Kyle was left to fill his shoes, but he didn't mind; it was a steady gig with good money, and usually a boss that was pretty chill. That was when things were going his way.

The brunette had thankfully just closed one of the deals on his table, handshakes done and champagne popped and he was free to go on his way. He decided he'd earned the celebration, especially since things had been so sideways lately. What he hadn't been expecting when he sauntered up to the bar was a familiar laugh to hit his ears.

Turning, he noticed the woman almost instantly. Time had definitely been kind to her. She was even more beautiful than he remembered as a kid having had a boyhood crush on her. "Well aren't you a sight for sore eyes." Kyle teased, calling out to her, blue hues twinkling as a smirk curled the corners of his lips.
