The Sarutobi tend to have fire nature so they're also considered fair enough targets for marriage hunts, but that's rare.

FUCK OOOOOOOFFF. They don't like each other but their territories aren't too close so they don't clash as much as with the Senju but disdain and judginess on both sides. They're both in high demand with nobles so they're competing for the same clients a lot of the time. They meet mostly in the capital where they HAVE to stay polite, which is hell.

Hatake

Wary as hell. This is a tricky clan. Some Hatakes have been marriage-hunted in the past but not recently. They also sometimes trade with Senju so there can be no long-term trust.

Farmers, hunters => provide meat and grain

Canine summons => search and rescue, tracking. Lots of lightning chakra. (probably where sasuke eventually gets his XD)

Aburame (Noble)

Wary respect; some trade of metals for poisons/dyes.

Akimichi (Noble)

Respect but also annoyance; the akimichi are a very old noble house and have even married some of their omega main lines into the daimyo's actual family in the past and it's annoying. But, they have a trustworthy reputation.

If! Hashi/Tobi's moms were Sarutobi then Touka's fathers had siblings (O/B) who married back into the Sarutobi clan? Or there's a promise that a branch with an omega litter will marry back at some point? But it can't be the main branch because inheritance and also too closely related? Idk that would mean the sarutobi clan is VERY strong to be worth such an alliance and idk that it is... They're very good as go-betweens though.

Uzumaki (Noble) (Whirlpool) - Official allies

Related to the main line a few generations back

using Uzumaki seals/jutsus in combat both to test them and to showcase them, which means people will pay for Uzumaki seals/shinobi to use them. They also work as go-between for the Uzumaki who don't leave their islands much.

Hyūga (Noble) (?) - Allies on a case by case basis

Shaky and recent, more of a case of "the Uchiha are annoying us both atm, let's coordinate" than actual trust. No marriage bonds.

Steve has lost everyone. He lost Bucky three times. Three fucking times. 

He thought that the one person that he could protect–that he loved and wanted to do nothing more than to just hold and hug and protect–he thought he could save her. Protect her. 

When Steve hears his name in a question, when he turns and sees Bucky dissipate before his eyes, something cracks deep inside him. Makes his breathing stall. Makes his emotions beat against that dam just a little bit harder. He sees the gun drop to the ground and reaches for Bucky as he disappears, but it’s too late. More ashes start to float away, up and down and into the air, fading from the colors of skin and hair to a blob of grey. 

It happens in a matter of minutes, but it’s too long for his brain to actually make the connection of what was happening. 

“S-Steve.”

He turns and sees you running towards him, shock on your face and tears building in your eyes. You stumble the slightest over the dirt and broken branches, left over from the battle with Thanos. You practically fall into his arms, stumbling into the dirt below him. 

You’re crying as quietly as you can, your resolve finally breaking in the aftermath. You were supposed to be strong for everyone, but it was too much. Watching your friends, your family, fight on the battlefield and leaving it a haunted graveyard. Too much. 

He’s got a strong arm around your body and a hand on the back of your head, buried in your hair, holding you as close as he can. He’s trying to keep everything under control, trying to keep the stone in the dam from bursting. He doesn’t want to let go. He won’t let go. 

He can’t let go.

“It’s okay, Y/N,” he says, pressing a kiss to the top of your head as you shake in his arms. “I’ve got you.” It’s just as much for him as it is for you. Maybe more for him.

“Steve,” you whimper, pulling away, tears streaming down your face. He feels your weight start to slip, sees your foot starting to turn into ash. His stomach drops to the depths of hell. 

You grab his attention, holding his face gently in your hands, and he mimics you. Your smile is faint as your skin fades to grey. 

“I love you.”

He gulps, afraid to move his hands as your legs are dissipating in his lap. He smiles, just a little bit, no matter how fake it is. Because he knows that you need it, need it for your memory, need to see his face wherever you end up. 

Your body is disappearing in front of him. 

“I love you, too.”

It’s a little broken as his voice cracks, a single tear sliding down his cheek. You smile at him and your weight finally leaves, your being turning into ash in his fingertips. After a moment he finally moves his hands, seeing the gray ash on his gloves, pieces slipping through his fingers.

He stops breathing, and the dam breaks. 

He looks down at the dirt, at the green and brown and gray mixed in below him. The piles of his loved ones on the ground. He feels himself wobble, his hands digging into the ground for support. He grips the dirt and the ash, the pain overcoming his entire being, eyes blurry as years and years of pent up emotion and loss are raging to the surface. 

He chokes on a sob, hands punching at the dirt as he lets out a painful, strangled scream, a siren call to the grave beyond him. Tears are flowing like waterfalls and he sees the blood on his fingers, anger and pain and hurt and desperation flowing through his veins and releasing after seventy years of being pushed down. 

It’s Steve’s cries that are heard through Wakanda, through the broken palace and kingdom. 

They lost the war, but Steve lost so much more.
