Thanks to his success of his book, he has quite a bit of pocket money, so he can replace the gold earrings with something genuine, so it doesn’t tarnish so easily. He would still, after all, like to continue wearing these individual pieces casually too. He can also get his suit and shirts mended in the places they need to be, and it over all feels much better to wear! Thank you, Emily!

The farmer wears a flowing pale blue dress that seems to flutter at any given moment. They buy the tiara from the hatmouse, and forge ruby earrings and a matching necklace. Its either go big and go home.

Oh, but unfortunately for the farmer, Elliott outdoes himself with his gift.

He presents them with a circlet made of genuine gold, with the pendant made of sea glass he collected when he lived in his shack. Its one of the treasures he found unintentionally on one of his listless walks for inspiration.

The pendant in his hands is not quite pretty, looking ashy and grey, until you put it on. it glows red, and the inside swirls like it was filled with red waves, sparkling with gold flecks.

With children:

The farmer’s daughter likes to run around, and they’re laughing privately, as their husband chases the girl around, trying to make sure she doesn’t fall over. He looks like fugimoto himself, without even realizing it <3

The farmer giggles with the sleepy little boy in yellow, adjusting his sea captain hat. Hes wrapped in Elliott’s burgundy cloak looking cozier than anything in the movie.

Cat King: No. Not even Tim Curry could bring this one up. -10/10.

Chihiro's Dad: Dismisses the legitimate concerns of his wife and daughter on multiple occasions, big 'high school quarterback gone to seed' energy, thinks having money gives him a right to do whatever. Very unfuckable, 0/10.

Mahito's Dad (Maki Shoichi): War profiteer, but seems to give a damn about his kid's wellbeing in a toxic-masculinity sort of way. 2/10.

Nausicaa's Dad (King Jhil): ???? Seems alright, he raised a great kid, his people seem to like him. He dies immediately so ????/10. Not the worst, tho.

Kiki's Dad (Mr. Okino): Solid middle of the pack. Seems like a sweet guy, clearly dotes on his daughter, we just don't know a lot about him, so that puts him a bit lower. 5/10.

Piccolo: Technically, we know him as a GRANDAD, but I think he still counts. He's kind of nuts, openly appreciates women as good workers, and fully believes in Fio's capabilities. He's fun but maaaaybe a little more into engines than relationships. 5.5/10.

Osono's Husband (Fukuo): Classic himbo, knows how to bake, good sense of humor, real sweetheart. Others might rank him higher, which is totally legit, I just personally prefer a fellow chatterbox rather than Strong And Silent. 7/10.

Ponyo's Dad (Fugimoto): Super hot, the most Gender of the Ghibli Dads, magic ecoterrorist. Pulled the GODDESS OF THE SEA. Very, very fuckable, but a bit work-obsessed and close-minded. 9/10.

Mei and Satsuki's Dad (Mr. Kusakabe): BEST GHIBLI DILF, BAR NONE. Cute, nerdy academic, excellent parent, caring partner. 100/10.

Honorable Mention: Lord Yupa. Not technically a Dad, but he is Daddy. Disqualified for being too OP. (1000/10).

I just finished watching Ponyo, and let me say...

It was Adorable!❤️❤️❤️🐟🎏🦀🦐🌊

From the first moment of the film I fell in love with the environment, the colour, and the first character, Fugimoto (Ponyo's father). He was sort of quirky but he knew what he was doing. His attire was so unique, and his hair so damn wild. Ponyo though...Oh my Ponyo made my heart just shine with glee. So curious, adventures, determined and full of life! Her character was so adorable I couldn't stop giggling at her innocent nature. She was unaware of the chaos she caused, but she meant no harm, neither her father. He only wanted to protect her from the humans he dubbed untrustworthy and evil, but Ponyo didn't care, she just wanted to be with Soske. Ponyo's mother, Oh how beautiful she was. I can't even phantom how her godlike appearance made me feel. She was so big and yet oh so gentle when comforting Fugimoto too.

I shouldn't spoll the whole thing for whoever haven't watched it yet, but let me say, it was worth the watch. Studio Ghibli movies feel so magical, they instantly steal your heart with their beautiful smooth animation, background scenarios and music.

While assessing Ponyo's behaviour, I must agree, Raven does have Ponyo's wild character. She's hard headed when determined, she's very innocent, and is willing to be friendly and kind to anyone.

Yet another anime filn that has stole my heart ❤️

Does anyone else want to talk about these two and their relationship?

How the Sea goddess sort of manages to calm Fugimoto which I don’t think is seen enough with characters like him?

Usually a character of his type as far as I notice (the sort of “uptight weirdo” if you will) usually people get mad at his character or force him to change which he does change a little bit throughout the movie and does get called a weirdo, almost seeming antagonistic with his want to protect/ control Ponyo. Yet he has someone that tries to calm him rather than just label him an idiot or something like that. She calmly tells him to give Ponyo and Soskue a chance and doesn’t try to enforce that he is wrong when he blames himself. She somewhat works him through his worry and calms him. She does shush him once, but een then it wasn’t really rude. Kind of makes you think about how they might’ve met or he ended up living in the sea. What do you guys think?
