it’s been a shitty day tbh my little 17-year-old coworker has somehow reached the conclusion that hes the only one in the whole store who works. he told our boss yesterday that “everyone” abandoned him and left him to do all the truck totes by himself (i was in the stockroom finishing up fullcase and sorting out the cos totes, he could check the security footage if he wanted confirmation), and tonight i went into the office and saw that he had crossed out my name on my to-do list and written the shift lead’s name instead, and written NOT DONE next to a bunch of shit i didn’t get to (i was in aisle 31 changing out all the mylar strips and finding four cartfuls of expired product, and i stopped in the middle to clean up the stockroom, he could check the security footage if he wanted confirmation). i didn’t eat today. i didn’t go to the bathroom today. and while i was sweating my balls off working, he and the new hire (incidentally his best friend since their freshman year) got to take their lunch at the same time so they could eat together, and then they started throwing a ball around after the customers started slowing down.

it just really hurts and frustrates me that he’s choosing to be passive-aggressive and to think he’s better than i am when i never say shit about the things he fucks up in photo. he ripped the film out of a customer’s camera the other day, permanently light damaging it, and then stuffed it into the sendout dropoff box so no one would know it was him (the customer told me who accepted her camera by name). i never say shit when he and rylee stand around talking and not working for twenty minutes. he comes out on smoke breaks even though he doesn’t smoke. like i don’t care what he gets up to, if he doesn’t get something done then he doesn’t get something done. like i know, rationally, that what he says and does doesn’t matter, because i’m a fucking adult and he’s not my supervisor; but i am so. fucking done. with knowing people around me have fuckin beef with me and instead of doing something about it or just Getting The Fuck Over It, they stand around and project negativity and make fun of me behind my back. it’s like being sixteen again. it’s like being twenty again. i’m over it you guys

last year on my birthday i had the day off but i was interrupted in the middle of shaving my legs to very quickly clean the house, lock up my cats, and escape with my mother because there was an impromptu house showing, resulting in me with half shaven legs spending four hours of my 25th birthday in a fucking hobby lobby with my goddamn mom. my 24th birthday i spent also with just my parents. my 23rd birthday i spent out of state with a group of people i subsequently found out did not want me there in the first place! my 22nd birthday i spent alone. my 21st birthday i had plans but they ditched me so i spent it with my parents. my seventeenth birthday, my friend who had the same birthday convinced me to throw a joint birthday party, and then her parents treated my parents like shit and she made fun of me the whole day. my sixteenth birthday, i had a standard friends-in-my-basement party, only every single person i invited showed up over an hour late because they had met up and were hanging out beforehand. my thirteenth birthday, the same girl from my 17th told me we were having a joint birthday but when i showed up no one knew it was my birthday and when i brought it up she yelled at me that the only reason i had been invited was because somebody else couldn’t come. like! every year that goes by is another year that’s passed where the best thing going on in my life is the fucking media i’m consuming. i’m 26 fucking years old. i have now been on six dates. i spent my birthday replacing mylar rails and 1506ing slimfasts while a 17-year-old made shitty comments about me in the office, and i’m closing it out in my bedroom in my fucking mother’s house, and my cat just used the litterbox! so that’s the sort of ambience we’re talking about here.

it’s not that awful things are happening to me; in fact, i’m a very, very fortunate person. it’s just that every birthday i’ve had since maybe the fifth grade has been grade-A pathetic. i just really hate myself lmao so a day that’s like just about me, like, it sounds nice and i want it to be nice, but it’s never been nice and it’s never going to be nice and i have to accept that.
