Hell yea i do!! This got a little long :)

These funky little dudes have the coolest morphology, something theyre well known for. They can be pretty tiny (0.4 cm) or surprisingly large (60 cm) and generally live in the tropics, though there are certainly a wide variety that live in cooler ocean water as well. Some of the more well known species are very eye catching, like the Jorunna Parva (Bunny slug) or Glaucus Atlanticus

Some of them look like funky leaves and some of them look like slugs we see on the surface too! (Did you know licking banana slugs that you find on land makes your tongue go numb? 10/10 not recommended but i was a dumb kid)

They also come in a goth or clown variant for those that are looking to fit a certain aesthetic :)

Theres two kinds of nudibranchs. Dorids, which breathe from a central plume of gills above their ass, and Aeolids, which breathe from a collection of spiky protrusions called cerata. There are a couple more distinguishing features relating to their digestive tracts and mantles (or lack thereof), but this is the easiest way to tell them apart in my opinion!

Theyre also carnivorous! These guys will eat a wide variety of stuff, including sponges, coral, barnacles, anemones, and even other nudibranchs and their eggs.

There are a couple species that have some pretty cool diets, like the Glaucus Atlantica, which preys on the portugese man of war and other siphonophores. It can eat the man of war whole if theyre small enough, but will also just eat the tentacles if theyre too big. Glaucus will then push the stinging nematocysts (the bits that hurt) from its insides to its outsides and use them as self defence!

There are also sea slugs, like the Costasiella Kuroshimae (technically not a nudibranch yada yada yada) that eat algae they then use to photosynthesize!

These funky little creatures are also hermaphroditic! Like a lot of animals, they use mating dances to attract a partner. Thats not whats cool about their reproduction though. When the time comes to lay their eggs, they do so in the coolest ribbon-like structures.

Mostly though, i just love how different all these little guys are. Personally, my fav nudi is from the ocean near where i live!

Favorite subject in school?

high school doesn’t apply here, just because i felt stupid the entire time that i never got to enjoy anything. but that being said, in university, i looooved taking italian. i have Some Scraps of knowledge left, but i remember loving it immensely, at least. i also really enjoyed the few semesters i sang in my uni’s early music vocal ensemble. that shit changed my life, genuinely. there’s so much nuance to that style of music. i think a lot of people can’t hear the appeal but man. give me some medieval recorder. a fuckin. cantiga or two. maybe we even pull out some baroque instrumentation; a funky little continuo line w a little portative organ action. i love it, man. my work as a professional opera singer has been mostly early music, and i’ve loved every fucken second.

despite pro opera exp, i’m not entirely sold on following that as a career option?? i’ve been floundering since 2020, honestly. but just as long as i have a flexible job that lets me enjoy being alive both in and out of the workspace, i’m good. my last few jobs were Not That, but meh. there’s still time to figure it out.

claviceps sp. is a fungi any old joe mightve heard about when looking at things like st. anthonys fire, the salem witch trials, the dancing mania of europe, etc. and as fascinating as it is that this fungi mightve been the real cause for those things, so could it have been various other things bc tho the climates for at least two of these events (that i know) was optimal growth time we. just. dont. know. science aint there yet pardner

theres also a funky guy that as my dear friend ava says "SQUART" does indeed just that. by spewing its spores into the lovely food of sick-ass livestock aka crops and grass and shit, it effectively passes entirely unnoticed through the mouth of the animal where it does nothin to the creature then gets lobbed in with excrement which is: their whole goal!! by scheming their way into poop they can now have a fun growing party as they break that shit (literally) down and feast on the herbivore poop. its pretty cool theyre called pilobolus kleinii (the most common) and theyre also nicknamed "hat throwers" bc they. throw their hats hehehehe

anyways theres actually a whole genus called the aspergillus and theyre. theyre a bunch of bastards mixed with like. the dude whos in soy sauce, the guy who features in toothpastes, and especially that famous fucker in inks (specifically dark inks). theyre like the "famous amongst humans" crew and then the fuckin types that can lead to like dying of asphyxiation. so yeah. like hollywood lmao. but also theres more so idk go for it look em up.

Hello Anon! Welcome to hell!

So first off there are no fics (yet??) about these two but @bonksoundeffect and I are working very diligently to give our sons life and make things happen. So we have deets and HCs aplenty. And I will share some of them with you now!

Okay, SO. These two. Look at them! Staring at each other wistfully across Dark Star Lounge (hard to tell here but they are staring at each other trust me or ask Bonk, I tracked their eye movements in-game sksksks)

Introducing Cassius Vayek and Nestor Savatrian:

They're best friends. They met not that long ago because the Groundskeeper (Nestor) just shipped in from Palaven, but he instantly fell in with a friend group that included the Bartender (Cassius). Nestor was instantly drawn to Cassius and kept going back to Dark Star hoping he'd strike up a conversation one-on-one.

They very quickly became an idiots-to-lovers style of oblivious pining, always sitting next to each other in the group, the whole group (including Rolan Quarn) is painfully aware of the tension, coming up with increasingly off-the-wall chaotic plans to try to force them into confronting their feelings, but they're always unsuccessful and everyone is just watching them flail helplessly bc they're both constantly just like "we're friends this is what friends do" and their friends have to be like "bro i don't see you looking at us like that."

One time they get so drunk Nestor and Cass start cuddling and nuzzling each other’s faces. The next morning both of them refuse to acknowledge it happening because having this friendship should be enough right? Friendship is enough? They don't need it to be more than that and risk it (except they're both pining fucking idiots)

Cassius is lost in lusty thought scrubbing the same spot on the bar for like 20 minutes straight while hungover just totally zoned out trying to convince himself that he didn't feel anything while Nestor had his face nuzzled up into his cowl. But Rolan took pictures of everyone that night, including those two cuddled on the couch and posted them in the group chat and both of them are just like.... o fuck

They're BOTH in denial but Cass is way more deliberate about it and is all like “Haha feelings what feelings?” while Nestor is just terrible at it and keeps catching himself humming and dancing around while misting the flowers and then getting all sad bc like "No u gotta stop that's ur friend bro :( "

Bartender

Cassius Vayek, 29

Born on Altakiril, an outer colony garden world (he knows fuck all about plants but he tries to pull out some random facts to impress our lil groundskeeper friend 🥰)

chronic Older Brother syndrome. pretty responsible in that bartender sort of way where he'll bail you out and not ask too many questions, mostly bc he can't be bothered to

has an irl lil bro named Keros. they grew up in a single parent family and

basically everything he does is for his little brother and it's never a conscious decision, he just does it. the one surefire way to make him break his cool manner is by bringing up his brother.

Keros is studying medicine on Sur'Kesh, and when Cass gets to talking about him it tends to be in a vaguely self-deprecating way. Not to be MEAN to himself, he's just 100% certain he's the dumb sibling and his lil bro is gonna change the world :') he works extra shifts at Dark Star constantly to support his brother's studies

Groundskeeper

Nestor Savatrian, 27

born in the suburbs of Cipritine, Palaven

Extremely polite lil funky dude! He's very passionate about his interests and loves to talk to people about them and also hear about other people's interests

grew up spending time at the museum where his parents' worked, spent a lot of time staring out the window admiring the grounds (which were notable for their well-kept greenery as a sort of oasis in the city with its intense radiation)

during his service years on ships, he found he missed the foliage and began to become fascinated with how the quarian flotilla kept greenhouses and it became a sort of dream to move to the Citadel and develop and diversify vegetation access to folks away from their homeworlds

he calls his parents every day and has breakfast with them and they think that Cassius is a "handsome young man"

He's a lightweight, fluffy, happy, drunk-in-love drunk, frequently ends up hanging all over Cass when they're out

Okay so basically this started because the Presidium Groundskeeper explicitly says "turians don't dance" but in Thane's loyalty mission who do we see throwing it down on the dance floor at a different bar

So logically this led to the conclusion that he's playing coy in Dark Star because he's got a crush on the bartender, because A.) who doesn't? and B.) Cassius is a too-cool-for-school type and he wants to act nonchalant, loudly talking about "the best part of being on the citadel is the DRINKS!" so that Cass will hear him like aha plz pay attention to me i love ur little fruity cocktails

But then when he's had just enough of those fruity lil dextro cocktails he hightails it out of there to dance somewhere out of sight (Cassius knows exactly where Nestor goes when this happens and thinks it's adorable -- their friends send him vids of Nestor dancing and he is just SHOOK like 😳😳😳

Anyway. Their lil group consists of Kirhil Vizrak, Rolan Quarn (who vanishes and reappears constantly but none of them know to where or why), Cassius, Nestor, and Dexian "Dex" Sideris

(Dex is actually Sidonis's cover story, he arrived from "Palaven" at the same time as Nestor and they met in Customs -- this came about bc if you squint in that first photo above, the NPC turian standing at the bar is the Sid model kskksks cue panic when Shepard walks in with Garrus to ask about the presidium fish and pass out on the bathroom floor?????)

Anyway that's just a lil intro to them as characters and their world but we are obsessed with our boys and will no doubt continue to post about them and reveal our secrets and drawings and maybe even some fic 👀

jay b (lim jaebeom): truly, where do i even begin. my beloved ult. makes my kind of music (r&b <3). dances like rent is due. i love the way he dances as well. very powerful. also has one of my fav voices in kpop/ever. it's smooth, yet piercing at the same time? very unique imo. looks like he could kill u, but actually can't. just a chill dude with old man energy. dorky and kind of lame. the embodiment of "he's just some random guy" 11/10 overall

jackson: ohhh the firecracker moodmaker! i adore him to bits. so incredibly hard-working and unbelievably creative! loud, always cracks jokes, and could honestly be friends with anyone. super charismatic on and off stage. deserves the mf world. his solo music and solo mv’s are fucking crazy, he's a great dancer, and he's a great rapper! but u know what i love more? his. singing. my god, he just has this raspy deep singing voice that i absolutely adore. 11/10 overall

jinyoung: oh, my handsome actor! he's such a triple threat it's honestly not fair lol. booked and busy with acting in dramas and movies lately, but let's not forget how amazing his voice is! it's so warm and comforting to me, and i always seems like he sings so sentimentally <3 he's also lowkey lame lmaooo. has grandpa energy. cannot social media for the life of him. the only person that can make fun of jaebeom and get away with it. kinda makes these quick quips to roast people in the background and it makes me laugh every time lskdfjsdk 11/10 overall

youngjae: OH MY GOD MY BELOVED HOLY SHIT. has the sunniest, brightest laugh and smile that whenever i see it/hear it, i laugh or smile or both! has an incredible voice, very full sounding (??). also, another triple threat (not fair smfh). looks like a cinnamon roll but could actually kill u. he has this duality to his personality where he looks cute one moment but he's actually a secret little devil evil thing. i love him sm. 11/10 overall

To be fair Miner is a typical Halloween costume, Nick dresses like a normal person, don’t know how you can find Caliban’s clothes unless it’s the pac sun looking shirt. At least Part 4 can deliver Jock Nick and Cheerleader Sabrina costumes.

ok this ask made me crack open my computer so it should tell u how much i care abt fashion 

but basically !! no one is wearing the miner look. the harvey costumes are the plaid shirt, the jeans and the sneakers with the boy next door hair + the brown leather jacket. so basically the look he’s had throughout the show’s run. 

the problem is that nick and caliban don’t have noteworthy style. harvey’s isn’t exactly noteworthy or groundbreaking, but, it’s identifiable and he has a signature look going. like if you prop any dude dressed in the plaid + jeans + jacket combo next to a girl dressed as sabrina, you’ll know it’s harvey. 

however: the other guys don’t have this kind of signature style. 

take nick. in p1 his style ? mess. he had this schoolboy thing going ? like he was wearing the white button up shirt with the sweater and they had him wear that in the promo material for some strange reason. but then in p2 they found his groove and had him in the dark turtlenecks and all black outfits, which were honestly ?? great. but then for p3 the style said 😌 it was nice to meet u 😌 and they had a weird regression where they started putting him in the ill fitting jeans with boots but occasionally in the white shirts again ?? and like in my opinion his style throughout the 3 parts has been kind of inconsistent to the point where the Nick Scratch Signature Look is just. him shirtless in dark pants. which again, might be great for like character development ( which i’m not sure of either lmao ) but it isn’t great when you’re trying to build a costume. 

as for caliban ? missed potential tbh. like i get that they had to have him in the whole hell attire but couldn’t they make it a bit more fashionable ?? like. even beelzebub has that great fun flesh crown and he has those fur coats that he wears with skull belts and stuff. i think that what went wrong with calibans lack of ~iconic style-ness~ is that they put him in this ugly ass vest without a shirt for most of p3. and his style was not cohesive at ALL. like. we had the vest thing and then we got this amazing romantic novel prince moment but then we got this 70′s looking ensemble that looks like it could have been worn by logan lerman in hunters. so tell me, caos wardrobe department, what is caliban’s style ?

in my opinion, it was wasted potential lol. like look at the fashion warlocks wear in ahs: apocalypse !!! i think that the show and even nick’s character could have been a lot more stylish if they had given him the same style he had in the first two parts for the third one, but in colors that went from dark to clear. like i know the show loves the 60s so why did we never get a short sleeved turtleneck moment ? we know gavin would’ve looked really good in one of those. we could have gotten a preppy striped cardigan with a black tshirt underneath. we could have gotten long black coats and blazers in interesting cuts. we could have gotten a tie moment. but no.... ill fitting jeans we know he’s short you don’t have to spell it out for us with those jeans that looked like he took them from harvey but had to fold the legs so they would fit him. 

i love ambrose’s style but like it could have been a lot more fun and iconic. if they loved the psychdellic 70s menswear for him they could have leaned into it more and given him corduroy vests with funky print shirts/bellbottoms/funky colored blazers and big collars. 

for caliban they could have given him a much more regal signature look, which would have made sense because he wanted the crown so bad it was natural that he would want to look the part. they could have given him a campy ass wardrobe with like. over the top embroidered shirts/some bejeweling/some faux fur and like. an actual hair look bc that just looks like sam combed his hair and showed up to set. some guyliner even. 

because look, it doesn’t matter if they dress like regular people because if the character has great style that looks recognizable, people will want to dress up as them, like the euphoria characters, or buffy the vampire slayer, or even sabrina herself. sabrina has a ton of signature, identifiable looks and moments despite the wardrobe departments’ best efforts so people want to dress up as her. she looks cute, she looks fun, it works if you want to make it sexy or spooky or conservative or a combination of the three. you can pick the plaid skirt + turtleneck, the red peacoat, the cheer uniform or if you want to go all out, you can do the whole I AM THE DARK LORD’S SWORD thing. you can wear the red off the shoulder top from the promos or the black queen of hell dress. same goes for the weird sister’s dresses. they’re cute, relatively easy to copy, and they can be as fun and flirty as u wanna make them. 

to be honest, to me the problem is that the style in caos is.... a bit messy. it’s confusing because characters look like they all came from different eras and their styles ( except ambrose, who stays pretty on brand with the 70s ) blend together in the most boring, print crazy, muted tones ( which. why??? they’re teenagers why are they always wearing autumnal colors ), sometimes they put the actors in things that are unflattering to their body types like sabrina’s valentine’s day ruched red dress atrocity that shit belongs to in a middle school spring fling dance or nick’s weird carnival canadian tux, and sometimes they mix eras? like with sabrina’s style, which inexplicably jumps from 60s to 70s but nothing she wears looks like what her aunts would have worn at her age so where and how did she even get those ?? were those like... her mom’s ?? if they were, why has the connection never been made ? it could have been great for emotional depth.

but anyway, the characters that we see on halloween or at comic cons are usually the weird sisters ( specifically prudence ), hilda, zelda, lilith, harvey, sabrina, and occasionally ambrose. this is most likely due to the fact that they have the more signature, noteworthy, recognizable clothes. the weird sisters have that one signature look and they ROCK it, hilda and zelda both dress like different kinds of stereotypical witches with identifiable hairstyles and are a fun friends/sisters costume, and lilith had that MOMENT with the demon face. harvey’s style is cute and consistent and pretty much timeless, maybe sometimes 90s inspired-ish. sabrina has an identifiable look with the hairstyle even if that wig is awful. 

so yeah, that was my long way of saying that the reason why people aren’t dressing up as nick or caliban even if theyre in a couples costume with a sabrina is because those two have unidentifiable, non cohesive style. 

caos could have been a fashion show.... could’ve brought 60′s/70′s inspo in fashion back... but for some reason it didnt rlly do that lol
