You know, thinking about it. In the Paris special it was a pretty selfish dick-move from Hesperia to show up and ask for Ladybug and Chat Noir's help to redeem ToxiGriffe

And yet he never offered the same thing in return. As if Ladybug and Chat Noir DON'T need help with Monarque. As of Hesperia couldn't have been asked to at least TRY (maybe even with good ToxiGriffe helping out too) to also help his evil version see the light.

It's irrelevant that Hesperia "didn't necessarily know" that his other universe self (our Gabriel) is Monarque, neither did Ladybug and Chat Noir initially for their counterparts and yet they put in the work.

And concidering that this is exactly were Marinette failed so bitterly against Gabriel in the season 5 finale, this is so not a nitpick. Gabriel Agreste could still be alive now and the Butterfly save in the Miracle Box.

Adrien didn't HAD to be an orphan now.

Marinette tried talking Gabriel into redemption the way they did with ToxiGriffe, only massive problem was that Hesperia came into our universe BECAUSE he himself couldn't talk them into it. It had to be their own counterparts.

So the same logic proceeded to apply to Marinette of course. She tried taking a place that wasn't hers so of course it failed spectacularly. But in the end, she only saw herself in the need to try and fill that place because Alt Gabriel fucked off without trying to help first.

He really just showed up in our universe, asked for help for his own problems, and then left Ladynoir to their own evil grown up butterfly, huh?

Jep, that man absolutely was a variation of Gabriel Agreste...

The Kids are Getting DIABOLICAL

Ok but did anyone else think it was insane that Nino’s masterplan was to get ADRIEN’S INFAMOUSLY TYRANNICAL FATHER AKUMATIZED?! And include Adrien in the plan to akumatize his own father? Despite knowing he might be pulled out of school? Just when Gabriel seemed to be making a turn around (he’s Monarch of course, but THEY don’t know that).

And then to make matters worse, Marinette actually agrees. Like “yeah, let’s akumatize Adrien’s father the moment he shows up for him! Why not?!”

And then to make things EVEN MORE INSANE, Adrien agrees after little protest. Like he’s protested to affronts against Lila and Chloe more than protecting his own father from akumatization, ok?

From Adrien’s POV, Gabriel is honestly trying. You’d think he’d be adamantly against something like this. Let alone taking part in it. Wouldn’t he be scared that this one experience might sour his father from taking part in his life ever again? I mean, I know he tried to nudge Mr. Pigeon into akumatization once, but this is his dad! It’s almost... out of character or something.

And then they go about it in the most obvious manner possible- basically throwing food at him. Gabriel is 100 times the asshole for his treatment of Adrien this episode, but he wasn’t the only... questionable one.

Clearly the gloves (and the braincells) are off here. I’m excited to see what other ruthless stupid plans the Resistance comes up with this season.

Idk I always find it bizarre when people shocked that Marinette just let rubble and whatever fell down to Emilie's coffin just so Gabriel move to protect it as if it's smt new. Miraculous can be inconsistent with it's characterization sometimes, but not for Marinette. Her characterization is still strong and constant from s1. Her let the rubble fell to the coffin is her s1 equivalent of taking down Eiffel tower at the Mime episode or s2 when she baited anansi to punch the arc de triomphe so she'd be buried under it's rubble.

What bizzare is the amount of what Marinette destroyed is far exceed what Adrien, as the holder of desruction ever did. Chat Blanc excluded because he was akumatized while Marinette did all that intentionally.

Can't imagine just how much destruction she caused if she were the holder of black cat miraculous instead. Must be terrifying.

I feel like those other two were different because The Mime and Anansi were akumatized villains with superpowers, so they wouldn't die from that or anything, and they could defend themselves just fine. But it's not the same with Emilie Agreste. This is an innocent woman who as far as she knows wanted no part of this. This is the mother of the boy she supposedly loves and is fighting for. And she drops a whole elevator onto her body without a single second of hesitation. That's so cruel. That's awful.

This literally proves why Marinette is so unsuited for the role she occupied in the finale. She has no connection to any of this. The whole Agreste arc was built on their family drama and the emotions they have for each other. We're supposed to feel something for Emilie Agreste, regardless of her lacking presence in the story. And here comes Marinette, who cares fuck all for any of them, treating this innocent woman like a prop in her fight, literally dehumanizing her in order to get an advantage over Gabe. There's no consideration for Emilie, from the narrative or the characters. Gabriel had to be the one to save her from Marinette.

And I am a proud "Emilie Agreste was an abusive parent" truther, but that doesn't excuse this. At the end of the day, she was an innocent in Gabriel's supervillainy, and Marinette threatening her life as part of a strategy to defeat Gabe is awful. And like I said, this shows why it's so counterproductive to have her take the central role in the resolution of this conflict. We're supposed to watch Emilie's heartfelt words reach Gabriel, as if she matters, when Marinette just treated her like an object and almost killed her (not sure if she's already dead or just in a coma, but my point still stands). The emotions are all gone. Nothing matters expect Marinette being a girlboss (which is literally the stated reason for why Bug Noire happened, so that Marinette could look cool).

Like, can you imagine if Adrien was here? Could you imagine how he'd feel watching his partner who supposedly loves him using his mother as a tool to defeat his father? Could you imagine how he'd feel to see his mother's body be almost destroyed, to see his mother be killed because Ladybug wanted to beat Gabe's ass? How would it feel to see that Marinette doesn't consider his mother a person more than she thought of her as a prop to get an advantage over Gabriel?

But no, treating Emilie Agreste with any kind of dignity is secondary to letting Marinette be awesome and cool ig. Removing the character who is the emotional core of the story removes all emotion from the finale, who woulda thunk it.

I LIKED THE FINALE

I actually quite liked it! I thought it was pretty smart, the fight was great, animation on point, AND i did like what they did with grabriel's final moments, honestly all of the interactions between mari/ladybug and gabriel were great

but i'm not gonna sit here and pretend that i liked the lack of Chat Noir IN THE FINAL BATTLE AGAINST HAWKMOTH AKA HIS FATHER

beacuse not only is he INTEGRAL to the Agreste plot, but also because Ladynoir, as partners, are at the CORE of the show and he deserved to be there

so yeah, while i am not a fan of all the ml salt in this fandom, i will not deny that there are things i didn't fully like or would have changed

that said, there were soooo many cool things about the finale and i am pretty satisfied with it and looking forward to the next season :)

It’s Valentine’s Day and Ladybug just wants to her superhero partner to find his love. And what she wants, the Lucky Charm will create. If only she could remember what it is she did last night.

Adrino fic here! Marinette’s drunk and feeling awful that her superhero partner is alone on Valentine’s (she’s in a loving and committed relationship with Alya), so she creates a Lucky Charm to help Chat find love! In this universe, Ladybug’s Lucky Charms have the power to create new rules for the universe to follow, such as making one that demands that if you have any magic in you, you have to tell the truth or else you’ll freeze. Or in Adrien’s case, that he has to wake up in the arms of his true love every day XD. It’s very sweet and I love both Adrien’s and Nino’s relationship, and the relationship between the rest of the Miracuteam members as well, even though that’s not the focus.

Nino looked at the number and didn’t recognize it. Usually he wouldn’t answer, but he had nothing better to do – and could still really use a distraction – so he did. “Hello?”

“Hey, Nino.”

Nino stood up quickly, chest tightening. He knew that voice. He’d been waiting to hear it again for over two years. “Adrien?” he whispered.

“Yeah. It’s me."

When Monarch is defeated (and revealed to be Gabriel Agreste), Chat Noir immediately goes missing. Adrien disappears not long after. When Adrien finally shows up in Paris again, Nino would do anything to make sure he doesn't disappear again.

Ah this is lovely, Adrien’s been in a lot of emotional turmoil since Monarch’s defeat, convinced that everyone would hate him, SHOULD hate him, for not realizing that his father was the villain, and should hate him even more for disappearing like he does. But slowly Marinette and Nino get through to him, convince him that they just want him back. 

And also Adrien and Nino smooch. Multiple times. So that’s a bonus XD.

Nino breaks off, tears streaking down his face. Adrien wishes he was here as himself instead of Chat so he could offer a hug.

“It’s not like I don’t think she deserved her privacy. It’s just it felt like I was her last priority. And if I knew why, then maybe we could overcome it. But when I don’t, I’m not willing to be her last thought. You know? I always put her first.”

“Yeah,” Chat agrees, able to relate too well. He always put Ladybug first too, and he’s not sure it has ever been the same for her. “I’m sorry you’ve been so alone through this."

“I haven’t been totally alone,” Nino disagrees, holding up his phone. “My best friend has been keeping me company virtually most of the day.”

“Yeah? It helped?”

“I don’t know if any of the stuff he sent helped, but like, given what I know he’s up to, he totally had to move heaven and earth to talk to me so much, and that really helped. You know, just knowing that someone was thinking of me.”

“I’m glad,” Chat Noir said. “I wish he could be there in person for you.”

Nino sighs. “Yeah, me too, but at least you’re here."

Adrien could only stare back at him in shock.

“How dare you all force him to come out?” Nino continued, glaring at the reporters. “That was disgusting.” He pulled Adrien over to the car, guided him in, and shut the door behind them.

In the relative quiet and privacy of the backseat, Adrien finally processed what had just happened. “So… when were you going to tell me we were dating?”

This Adrino fic is delicious XD. Reporters keep hounding Adrien about his love life, so Nino finally gets them off Adrien’s back by fake-dating him. Problem is, Adrien’s actually been madly in love with Nino for years but has never been able to tell him. And now as they’re spending more time together, Nino’s beginning to find that he’s enjoying all these “couple” activities more than maybe he ought to if it’s entirely platonic...

If you want to see Adrien and Nino PINING for each other while “fake” dating (is it really fake if both parties want it to be real?) then you’ve come to the right fic!

It kind of sucked Nino was taking chemistry, but classes had filled up fast and he needed to take something and his advisor had said the credits would, somehow, count towards his major. It really sucked he was taking it first thing on a Monday morning (and Wednesdays, and Fridays, unfortunately). But he could get through it. He knew he could.

So no more boys. No distractions. He could do this all on his own.

“Is anyone sitting here?”

Nino looked up to find the source of the voice. A blond, green-eyed, absolutely beautiful someone.

Okay. Maybe one distraction.

Ah, adorable Adrino. This is a universe where Adrien never went to public school, so while Chat Noir, Ladybug, Carapace, and Rena Rouge all know each other (and Marinette, Alya, and Nino all know each other’s identities) they’re unaware that they are all already friends with Adrien. I loved seeing Chat and Carapace excitedly tell each other about their awesome crush/boyfriend, not knowing they were talking about each other XD.

Strangely Familiar by @sunfoxfic

Alya Césaire’s life is perfect. Indeed, between the success of the Ladyblog, how well she’s doing in school, and the fact that she’s a superhero who has never bore the weight of a crisis of epic proportions, her life almost couldn’t be better. Almost.

But Alya has always been a go-getter, and so she’ll chase after that perfect life if it kills her. Which is how she ends up rushing to move out of her father’s apartment and in with Marinette, Adrien, and a complete stranger: Nino Lahiffe. And in fact, her life does seem perfect — she and Nino are fast friends. They spend a lot of time together and get to know each other really well.

But in the end, fortunate situations will bear unfortunate truths, and she learns things about herself that aren’t quite comfortable. Like I said, though: Alya has always been a go-getter, and she won’t let new feelings deter her from chasing after her perfect life.

This is the single longest DJWifi-centric fic on AO3 (which is a travesty) and it is GLORIOUS. Alya and Nino are both well fleshed-out here, with their own problems and baggage they’re dealing with, but it’s easier together.

When Ladybug wakes Nino up in the middle of the night to scold him for revealing his identity, he thinks his career as a Miraculous holder is over. But instead, Ladybug gives him the opportunity to prove himself by becoming Chat Noir’s confidant and learning his secret identity through a scavenger hunt of sorts. Will Nino pass Ladybug and Chat Noir’s test, or will he fail to put the pieces together in time?

Quick disclaimer here: the first chapter looks kinda salty towards Nino, with Ladybug laying into him for revealing his and Alya’s secret identities to Adrien and Marinette. She’s mostly just trying to scare him into taking them seriously, though, since she herself has just proposed that Nino become Chat’s secret-keeper, and he can’t afford to be lackadaisical with that identity. I highly recommend getting through at least chapter 2 of the fic when giving it a shot, because this had some great character development and introspection for Nino, on Chat Noir, Adrien, Ladybug, and himself.

Contrary to popular belief, he and Alya could get studying done when in the same room, and he was elbows-deep in late assignments, which meant his phone was on Do Not Disturb, which meant the notification could only have come from one person.

So this is a “Adrien finds out that his father is Hawkmoth and consults with Nino about what to do” fic, with Nino throwing Hawkmoth off Adrien’s track, though inadvertently at his own expense. Love Nino’s perspective here, and I always enjoy a good Hawkmoth-takedown fic!

Were you hanging with your mystery lady?” The question caught Adrien completely off guard. Was Nino seriously comparing his feelings for Carapace with his feelings for Ladybug? Sure, Carapace had become one of his favorite people. Adrien currently coveted every moment spent in Carapace’s company. He walked away from talking to him for hours feeling like he was floating on a cloud. And he was anticipating their next patrol like a giddy child waiting for Christmas morning. Holy shit! “You okay, dude?” Nino asked. He totally had feelings for Carapace. When had that even happened?

Now that you are no longer avoiding miraculous ladybug spoilers, can I say that it is absolutely bonkers the way the sentimonster theory started out with just Adrien, but then spread to Felix, and now apparently kagami??? And I've heard there might be another person who is one as well?? Like at this point I think we might as well say that every rich kid in paris (or vaguely related to paris) is probably a sentimonster. I bet it was a top secret Agreste collection back in the day, and all of Paris' wealthiest got a slice of it

OHOOEHEHEHE YES AND IM LIVING FOR IT!! honestly I never thought we would get confirmation of the senti theory that is this clear—like I thought it would be hinted but left open enough for the average child viewer to totally miss and for deniers to be able to deny if they want to. And I guess they could still deny? But man I didn’t expect it to become so central!! the felix eps were insane i was yelling !!

A while back I saw this theory that was basically what you said—that all the rich kids in Paris were sentis. Because of that fancy weird cult party from the episode Gabriel Agreste. Which was so fascinating to me back then and now it feels not unlikely?

It’s so interesting bc we know sentis are created from a specific emotion. It would seem appropriate that Emily created adrien out of love, and that’s why he’s such a kind boy who gives undeserving people second chances and who loves people with all his heart. Im not sure what emotion felix would be?? he’s a pretty complex character but his sense of personal justice is strong, wanting to free himself first and then the other sentikids, and using morally questionable means to reach his mission. So maybe something along those lines. And for kagami, idk, is perfection an emotion? Desire for perfection? That idea is brought up more and more surrounding her and her mother is very concerned with kagami’s perfection.

This gets even more interesting to me when you consider Chloe. Admittedly, she makes less sense as a senti bc the other sentikids have a missing parent (presumably the one who wielded the broken peacock and then eventually died from it??). But im just considering the concept of Audrey making Chloe from her own emotions….which seem to consist solely of selfishness and superiority. So if Chloe was made with such ugly emotions, no wonder she is the way she is. And no wonder that every time she seemed to make a little progress, she backslid into her old behavior. Bc any display of self-awareness and kindness and genuine care for someone else goes against her emotional core—her very essence. Is it even possible for a senti to change their emotional core? that would be an insane display of self-control and sheer force of will that would challenge the very concept of sentis as creatures who are made to be commanded. if it’s possible for a senti to break the bounds of their emotional core, is it also possible to break the bond between them and their amok holder and disobey a direct order? Could they even break their link to their amok entirely? This is all crazy talk bc it doesn’t even make sense in context and I doubt Chloe would end up having that big of a role anyway lol but the implications are interesting to think about! It’s even interesting to think about XY and the possibility of him being a senti—emotional core of greed, maybe? or, like, shallowness? lol. his dad definitely controls him and his image pretty carefully so. Hmm!

anyway insane musings aside I am really enjoying this arc with the senti focus!! felix’s Argo fit is so cool. his villain song. Girl help!!! when he had to kill his sentimoon and cried…oh that got me. That was his SISTER !! and FELIGAMI HELLO???? FELIGAMI PRACTICALLY CANON AFTER 2 EPISODES??? i did NOT have that on my bingo card lol but you know what?? Hell yeah!!!!!! Kagami said if Adrien doesn’t love me I’ll simply fall for his more intense and moody twin who rapidly and rightfully became obsessed with me

When Gabriel Agreste died, it wasn't pretty.

It was the desperate final attempt of a mad man. Lunging at Chat Noir, whose hand oozed with pure destruction, in hopes of retrieving the butterfly miraculous once more.

Chat Noir had tried to pull away, but he was already distraught. Knowing your father was a terrorist doesn't prepare you for seeing it yourself.

Knowing didn't prepare Adrien for the utter betrayal and shock that completely wrecked his very being to the core when he saw it for himself.

Before Adrien knew what had happened, Hawkmoth, his father - magicless, powerless, pathetic - was writhing on the floor. His eyes clouded and mouth carved into a silent scream as he tore at his chest.

When Gabriel Agreste died, it was agonizing.

He decayed slowly, feeling as every particle of his being disintegrated away to be left as nothing but a pile of dust.

Chat Noir cried out, tried to stop it - to slow it - to do something. It didn't work.

Ladybug tried to fix it, fumbling to create one more lucky charm after Hawkmoth destroyed the previous one. She tried to bring him back. It didn't work.

When Gabriel Agreste died, it was traumatizing.

The two heroes (children. They were children. Sixteen years old with the weight of the world on their shoulders, only able to lean on each other to bear it.) were left clinging to one another; trembling and sobbing and absolutely broken.

It was over. It was finally over.

But they'd never get back what they had lost. Their childhoods were in the past. Their innocence went with the first death they'd witnessed when they were thirteen. Their hands would never be clean of Gabriel Agrestes blood.

When Gabriel Agreste died, Paris' Heroes retired.

They had shown up long enough to tell Paris that they were safe, Hawkmoth was no more. As such, Ladybug and Chat Noir were as well.

As the sole beneficiary, Adrien Agreste received the company, the stocks, the homes, and the fortune.

The company was the first to go, gifted from Adrien to Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Chloe Bourgeois, who had already been running MDC together.

The homes went next, all being turned into shelters for abused, orphaned, and homeless children.

The fortune went next, almost all of it being donated to help Paris recover from Hawkmoths Reign.

When Gabriel Agreste died, the world got a little brighter.

People in Paris moved on, aided by free therapy and the ever-increasing healthy enviroments, funded by one Adrien Agreste.

Gabriel the Brand went through a complete upheaval. Gaining completely new standards, new policies, new benefits, new aesthetics, and a new name: Miraculous Designs & Co.

The first line was inspired entirely by Paris' superhero team, and Marinette couldn't have been prouder. (She did feel rather vain, making clothes based on her alter-ego.)

When Gabriel Agreste died, the world kept spinning.

The Sun rose, and it set. Flowers continued to bloom and wilt. Snow fell, and snow melted. Rain came and went.

When Gabriel Agreste died, Paris' heroes thought they would never recover.

Alya and Nino are very good best friends to Marinette and Adrien. Some of you just don't know what flaws are.

I genuinely feel bad for Fu and think he's a good example of a terrible master who tried his best. A good unreliable adult who had good intentions. I like characters like this.

Marinette should not have given Chloe another chance to use the Bee miraculous, especially when the latter refused to give it back when she picked it up at first.

Lila is an excellent villain and I can't wait to see what she's up to next.

I don't like Luka. I think he's just there and a bit of a blank state. I also don't like his design and I'm a very vain person LMAO

I don't like Kagami. I believe she was a shitty friend in s5 and the end of s4. The fact that some people believe she's a better friend than Alya even now disgusts me.

I think it's okay for Adrien to be saved and not have to fight every battle because irl, not all abused people have the power or courage to fight for themselves.

I like Marinette's and Adrien's flaws. It makes them interesting as people and makes the story interesting when it comes to their decisions (or lack of making one).

Gabriel's decision at the end of s5 is NOT a redemption to me.

I don't like that everyone that's not the core 4 has their miraculous permanently now. Too many heroes and it feels too saturated and scattered.

I would prefer it if Felix stuck to being an antihero and doing what benefits his goals.

Lila in "Recreation"

I think for me one of, if not THE most scary implications of the season 5 finale is at the beginning we see that Lila stole everything from Tomoe's control laptop (?)

with which Tomoe the entire time already had full control of the Agreste mansion as we found out in "Recreation

Meaning not only was the Agreste mansion - Adrien's home for all his life - never save for him in the first place because of Tomoe (which does put things more into perspective)

Now this access to Adrien's home is in Lila's hands after she already has all the information on Gabriel since "Revelation". I think "Oni-Chan" just became one of the most relevant episodes regarding Lila's character again cause there she already got into Adrien's home and then going after Kagami like in said episode of s3 who 'coincidentally' was one of Lila's main victims this season.

Everything about Lila in the finale episode feels like a pay-off to "Oni-Chan" something I didn't even remotely had on my mind going into this, but remembering that episode suddenly makes ALOT of things make much more sense concerning her character overall and her motivation. I think I will take a MUCH closer look at Lila's character from now on.

Though the most alarming thing for me is that not only does Lila immediately look to the father-son portrait of which we only see Adrien, visually telling us who she was looking at,

She's standing here not even looking like a malicious villain. She calmly and content with the world looks at Adrien first and then at Ladybug and Monarque in the basement of Adrien's wrecked home with a face of "a job well done"

There is no malice in her face and that's by far the scariest part. She planned this and when she sees her work paying-off she isnt feeling malicious glee, she's just calm and pleased.

We are so NOT ready for Lila! Though thinking about it it kinda should have been obvious. Even if Miraculous changes things up they still keep the same core elements of the story, so it shouldnt be any surprise that Adrien in the new beginning will once again be placed in the Butterfly's grasp and looking at Lila here I think she's gonna be a bit smarter about it than Gabriel before her.

MLB Paris special

I've been saying it before and I'm saying it even louder now: these writers are good at self-contained episodes, it's serialisation they can't handle. This is yet another testament to the fact that when they get the time to flesh out their ideas and dwell on their details, this universe is brilliant.

That said, this is by far the weakest of the specials yet, thanks mostly to the way it falls back on some of the mawkiest lines this show has produced. Where Shanghai and NYC had moments of Our Heroes in genuinely dire situations, this one was essentially your normal akuma battle with a few extra bells and whistles, which they resolve by giving their emo counterparts a pep talk about how they can totally be good people like them, just look on the bright side of life! The lucky charm blatantly frames this as some sort of facing-your-inner-demons tale, which would have worked if

a) these had been doubts Marinette and Adrien had faced this very episode, but last time Adrien had a thought about the fact that he recently lost his mum in canon timeline was "Felix", and Marinette's experience in being bitter and alone was, oh yeah, never.

b) we had a bit more background on emoverse ladynoir than their telling us the reason they're angry

In essence: this brings about zero epiphanies to our ladynoir like the NYC special did, and emoverse ladynoir don't have the on-screen backstories like Fei for their turn-around to be narratively satisfying. Marinette's speech at Emobug reads like an inspirational quote our aunts post on Facebook; harmless, and true in essence, but ooooh boy the that's easy for you to say.

It works simultaneously better and worse with Adrien-Emonoir, where Adrien's side is A+ character moment and Emonoir's is jazz_music_stops.jpg because this boy lived better circumstances than our Adrien, but became a trigger-happy supervillain? and here I thought losing a parent and being neglected by the other one wasn't a sympathetic explanation for why you'd turn to violence against the world around you

Where NYC and Shanghai had my heart, this one was just sparkly, but sparkly at least in a way it's been a while since this show has felt.

(I mean, there's the "Gabriel Agreste is a hero at his core and deserved the statue" propaganda and "why yes, their team-up in the end can be taken as foreshadowing of Marinette's decision to side with Gabriel in the S5 finale being framed as a good and kind thing for Adrien", but I'll refrain from going into that wank. We're all strong independent adults capable of grappling with the unfortunate implications of a work of fiction)

Have some bullet points:

I called them "bells and whistles" but emoverse ladynoir carries this special alone, and boy howdy do they CARRY it

Some really nifty scenes here, with particular kudos to the slo-mo akumatisation of Cat Noir

ouch but the parallel akumatisation of father and son from different universes was an unfortunate one (see: "Gabriel is a hero at core" propaganda)

speaking of: ~Cat Blanc trauma~ died with "Jubilation" and this is the funeral

So much lore being made up just to justify the plot beats of this special, gotta love it

Excuse me, I got brainworms from emoverse ladynoir being physically marked by the damaged caused by their misuse of their miraculous and the way this never is compared to Gabriel's shiny new handprint

Or at least named as the reason why they're so desperate and bitter, rather than the diet coke explanation we got

I can't believe what a bitter old crone I've become to roll my eyes when Ladybug has a moment of shoddily set up "oh no I can't do it" so that Cat Noir can put a hand on his shoulder and look her in the eye and say "I always believe in you, milady". To be fair I think this would've touched me if it hadn't been like a year and half since "Strike Back" aired

On the bright side, this one episode does Alya more justice than all the rest of S5 did

Adrien was so excited to talk about Nino's favourite film. It is now canon that Adrien is that person who genuinely enjoys avant-garde cinema

Best part: emoverse ladynoir teaming up with Hawkmoth to form a visual kei Team Rocket, complete with sarcastic nicknames

Monarch, sorry (something something you're giving into his power by acknowledging his self-proclaimed change in name), but I dig that they kept up the continuity of the fashion disaster he was for these early S5 episodes

Worst part: Superfluous multiverse jumping fanservice. If you needed to pad for time, it should've been spent on emoverse ladynoir flashbacks

I can't wait for the S6 reveal that Chloé personally caused the climate crisis, founded daesh and killed Mother Teresa

Illusion offers another look at how misinformation is a core thing that's stopping the heroes from learning Monarch's secret identity and how lucky Félix was to be informed about the miraculous earlier while Marinette is constantly having a different information thrown at her. She starts suspecting it's Gabriel Agreste because he has the freakin book and he akumatized himself to fool her. And then again just when she started questioning Alliance rings he makes an illusion that will trick her to believe that Alliance ring has nothing to do with it plus he akumatized himself again because he knows holders of the butterfly miraculous have never akumatized themselves before and he did it again just to make sure she wouldn't suspect anything. But the thing is that she also has no idea that he turned the magical jewellery into rings too.

He does have a good strategy and knows how to trick people and she is smart enough to start connecting the clues early but he is always faster.

Lila Rossi: Hogwarts AU

Lila Rossi is a Pureblood witch that was born on the 1st of April 1978 and started attending Hogwarts on the 1st of September 1989, being sorted into Slytherin house.

She has a Dogwood wand with a Dragon Heartstring Core.

Her Patronus is a Kitsune.

Her favorite subject is Transfiguration and her least favorite is Care of Magical Creatures.

She was one of the Slytherin Prefects in her year until she got expelled.

Lila is proud and loves attention, which she is willing to obtain with her pathological lying. This even means going beyond words to support her lies, like buying a necklace that looks like the Fox Pendent to convince Adrien that she is a descendant of the fox-themed witch or cause situations that can discredit whoever can threaten her lies. She gets jealous if someone gets more attention or love than her and doesn't like it when someone reveals that her lies aren't true, showing no remorse for lying in the first place. If anyone attempts to expose her, she won't hesitate to try to make them miserable or break them down just to get them out of her way. She also doesn't take advice from those who try to make peace with her or encourage her to be honest like Ladybug or Adrien. At first glance, it appears that the reason why she acts like this is probably because her mother is away a lot with her busy job schedule, making Lila feel disheartened and using lies to cover up that loneliness to her mother and others that are around her.

Lila doesn't easily forgive people who she feels wronged her, as she is still furious at Ladybug for ratting her out harshly and ruining her chance to woo Adrien. Aside from being adept at lying, her desire for vengeance is so great that Gabriel Agreste decided to form a formal alliance with her, not just to put her under the Imperius Curse.

Lila is also not afraid to get her enemies' friends against them by manipulating and lying to them, portraying her enemy as the villain, and not having any care for the consequences that her lies may have on others, as she doesn't feel any remorse after almost causing some of her classmates and teachers to be put under the Imperius Curse after blaming Marinette of cheating, hurting her and steal her necklace to turn everyone against her.

Another example of this is shown when she lies and manipulates Kagami into thinking Marinette is a bad person.

Due to her talent to create the most convincing lies, Lila is extremely intelligent and observative, being able to notice the most subtle details, especially when she is motivated by her hatred and grudge.

Similar to Félix, Lila was able to deduce Gabriel Agreste was Monarch and used that information in her favor, manipulating the dark wizard for her gain, like convincing him to put Kagami under the Imperius Curse again to separate Adrien and Marinette.

The extension of her lies goes further than her school and social life, as they also extend into her family life. It's revealed that Lila has at least three identities, along with three different mothers, keeping them ignorant of the existence of each other by making them believe she does a lot of travel around the world due to works such as acting and conservation of endangered species.

As Volpina, her personality is still intact, while additionally determined to get revenge on Ladybug. Wanting to make Ladybug suffer, she nearly convinced Ladybug to give up her earrings twice, almost tricking her with illusions of people she threatened to hurt, such as civilians like Adrien.

As Chameleon, because she was put under the Imperius Curse voluntarily, her personality remains the same, using her powers to get even with the ones that she believes wronged her. For example, she took Adrien's form to make him look bad and at the same time to lead Ladybug into a "trap". Her desire to defeat Ladybug is so great that she would rather advance to battle her than take an unconscious Cat Noir's ring to Hawk Moth.

As Hoaxer, her vengeful personality becomes much more intense, as she uses her power to convince everyone that Marinette is Monarch to turn them against her, as well as convincing them that Ladybug and Cat Noir are dark wizards that will destroy the ozone layer to defeat them, as the duo wouldn't use their powers against civilians. Not just that, but Hoaxer showed to be very intelligent, keeping herself inside the system of the Alliances to avoid physical confrontation and even using her pursue over the teenagers to keep Monarch distracted and prevent him from realizing the vengeance she was about to enact on him by manipulating Nathalie to deliver her all of his secrets.
