Let me discuss Poe and Korekiyo in greater detail because the discovery SHOOK ME TO MY CORE. I had never watched bsd dubbed before and the first time i came across the dub was when i watched some cute Ranpoe videos on tiktok. Imagine my fucking surprise when as soon as that man opens his mouth my brain has to take a mental screenshot because it sounded exactly like Korekiyo. Todd Haberkorn, you are not slick. If you think you can just fuck with me by voicing 2 characters that could very well be the same goddamn person (tell me their personalities aren’t similar i dare you, and both are coincidentally in love with detectives, even if i’m an amaguuji truther i have to admit that saiguuji had potential), then i will tell you right now that it absolutely worked and i’m obsessed with both of them. (let’s not even open that can of worms of Atsushi sharing a VA with Itto because i will lose my shit).

And yet, the characters that i WOULD expect to share a VA because my mind always connects them (like Byakuya and Alhaitham) don’t share a VA. What is this magic.

What has shifted in recent years?

I’ve noticed (as someone who’s been on Tiktok since it was called Musical.ly and witnessed the insane bullying that happened around 2018 disguised as “jokes”) that not only people have gotten angrier, but their criticism doesn’t sound critical anymore, it sounds completely irrational.

The people on that app have especially gotten really comfortable with shitting all over fandoms that they’re not a part of, claiming that “oh the source material is problematic, so i have the right to hate on its fans” who coincidentally happen to be mostly part of minorities or in general enjoy things that are seen as “weird” and “cringey”.

Even going as far as showing photos of cosplayers at cons (which is literally a place for people to nerd out) and making fun of them. I’m sorry, what in the world makes you think that that is an acceptable behaviour?? And what the hell does that have to do with the “source material”?

I am SICK and TIRED of the incessant hate trains on literally any single thing that gains a significant following, because at this point you’re not even opening a conversation about stuff that could be fixed about it, you’re just straight up bullying the (queer/ neurodivergent) teenagers that enjoy it.

This is what happens when you give middle school bullies who are living vicariously through their past (because they haven’t achieved shit after it) a platform to be hateful and actually get rewarded for it.

I like the Hellaverse, i like Anime, i like Kpop, i like being a girl who enjoys things to get through a shitty time in my life. If it upsets you then you’re the weird one.

New insanity in the fandom

When i was talking about media literacy, i was especially referring to the Hazbin Hotel fans cause how did this girl on tiktok go on to say that Stolas is an awful character and went on to misunderstand the ENTIRE point… Get your hands off of Helluva Boss i am begging you go back to praising your fave one-dimensional Hazbin character but for the love of god leave Stolas out of your shitty ass opinions.

“This fandom can never take opinions” not when you’re blatantly wrong about shit and blaming it on other people for having the comprehension skills of a pebble😭

Stolas isn’t meant to be this morally perfect character, nobody on the show is, it’s literally set in HELL.

But he is a damn good father for one, he clearly loves his daughter unconditionally and tried to give her the best possible life despite all the abuse that he’s had to endure. And he can still learn new things as they both grow, that’s not crazy. But he is almost always apologetic when he understands that what he did was wrong. He was also neglected as a child and decided to break that pattern.

Now, onto Stolitz, a whole other can of worms. You’re telling me, a VOX STAN (he’s my favorite HH character so don’t start) is claiming that Stolas is TOXIC??? I’m sorry, did we watch the same shows? In what universe is Vox a good person, and why do you hold them to different standards??

Regardless of that, Blitz’s view of Stolas is entirely warped due to his insecurities and self-loathing, he does not have the same insight that we, as viewers, have about Stolas’ true feelings and intentions. And if you had an ounce of brain you would know why Stolas acted the way he did in the beginning. I’ll delve into Stolitz further in a different post if some people still don’t understand the dynamic, but for now i’ll leave it at that, there’s plenty of people on this site that have already explained it better than i ever could.

If you don’t ship Stolitz and don’t particularly like Stolas that’s fine, it is an opinion, it’s totally different to outright lie about the character and their dynamic tho, it just makes you look dumb.

Also they said some shit about Stolas’ songs, and it just feels a bit iffy cause it has nothing to do with the character?? Bryan did a fantastic job idc what you think of Stolas leave the man out of this.

first of all, A-FUCKING-MEN SISTER!!! I’m so glad that the people interacting all share the same sentiment as me, makes it feel like i’m not so alone in this. I think everyone (including myself) should take a much needed vacation from their phones and go outside to get some sunlight (vitamin D deficiency gang).

It baffles me that I've seen people say "Alastor is canonically sex and touch repulsed" as a reason people "shouldn't" be shipping Alastor sexually/romantically.

Why assume that the sex repulsion applies to every relationship in his life, permanently? Some aces are sex favorable, or may develop more favorable feelings for specific people, even if otherwise repulsed.

And the same applies to touch repulsion. That's such a weak argument. Alastor canonically, and very clearly, is okay with or possibly even enjoys touch in specific situations. He does seem to be touch repulsed in general, but again, there are specific people it doesn't apply to. (Rosie is the best example, since with anyone else it is more brief, but Rosie touches him, and is the one initiating that, frequently.)

All types of attraction, or comfort levels with different manners of affection, are fluid. This isn't ever an excuse to invalidate real people who are telling you their identities, but it does mean that assumptions really can't be made about what a person would or wouldn't do.

And this type of thinking is what really leads to invalidating real people, because even if you think "being asexual means never having sexual attraction," and then an ace person shares that they think they might have experienced sexual attraction at some point but still identify as ace... then you have to be open to that. You cannot put sexualities in boxes. This applies to all sexualities.

I'm a fictive of Alastor myself, and I am sex repulsed, so I understand the discomfort, but I also understand that people are not harming any real, living person by making fanworks where Alastor is having sex. It also doesn't mean they're inherently rejecting his asexuality.

If people want to ignore Alastor being aroace completely, that's different. Alastor is canonically aroace (or asexual at minimum), and he always will be. But jumping to conclusions about what people think because you're too naive and stubborn to understand that sexuality and attraction doesn't fit into tidy little boxes is harmful and is a way of thinking that must be changed.

This became longer than intended because I was mostly thinking about the "Alastor is touch repulsed to everyone!" claims some people make, which are frankly incompatible with canon. But the rest of this post is also true.

this isn’t vox related but i just wanna say it really annoys me when people say shipping alastor with anyone is the same as lesbian erasure.

i am an aspec lesbian myself, lesbianism is not a spectrum, it is no attraction to men. asexuality and aromanticism are a spectrum, you can easily ship alastor with other characters while respecting his canon identity by making his approach to romance/sex fit the experiences of an ace or aroace person
