HUOG CARES ABOUT VARIAN IN A WAY HE NEVER KNEW HE WAS ABLE TO CARE ABOUT SOMEONE, AND THAT MAKES ME SO EMO

He desperately wants to just tell Varian about the situation he's in, and how he's supposed to betray him, and I'm sure, if he'd come out about it, Varian would understand because he's had to betray people before, and could find some common ground, and they could figure out what to do together.

But fear and selfishness keeps Hugo set on saving his own ass. He won't tell Varian. He can't tell Varian. So just subtle warnings is all he can give. Hoping Varian can pick up on them. But he doesn't until it's already too late.

Besides, the more shots they take, the more they are reminded of the sacrifice Jesus made for us! always feels like the second choice. wonders if she’ll be anyone’s first choice and has a weird perception of herself romantically because no one had ever made it known that they liked her like that. she also sometimes second guesses her choice to join the hunters and wonders if she was self sabotaging if that makes sense. anyway just lots of self worth issues around romance

Hugo is attractive, smart, and cunning. He KNOWS this. People are easier to kill when they're at the disadvantage of being stupid and horny. Especially when those people are likely to be twice his size and more than capable of taking him down.
