Day One: GUESS WHOOOO

If you haven’t seen diydrarry‘s post yet, I’m glad to be the first one to inform you that she and I will MEETING FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER and COSPLAYING OUR FAVORITE GAYS at Geekycon (geekyconblr) in exactly one week’s time.

I will be cosplaying the infamous Draco Malfoy. BUT AS A FEMALE. WHAT?

Yes, my friends, we’re doing a genderbend drarry.

We had a totally awesome Opening Day at GeekyCon 2015!

Today was the first day to register, and our amazing volunteers were ready and waiting to welcome all of our gorgeous guests.

The first part of the day was dedicated to Meet-Ups, where fans can get together with new friends and old to share everything from their favorite fandoms to their Hogwarts house to advice for first-timers.

Our marvelous marketplace opened today, with tons of vendors, Geeky merch, our Charity Row, and the Geeky Lounge brought to you by Penguin Teen. 

Be sure to check out all the booths over the weekend, and stop by the Harry Potter Alliance to participate in the Apparating Library! 

The Con officially began with our Opening Ceremonies, an annual extravaganza where the year’s special guests perform a musical skit that sets the tone for the weekend. Tonight’s ceremony did not disappoint. From the announcement that the mayor of Orlando proclaimed tomorrow, Friday, July 31, Geek Day to a show full of fandom jokes and parody song covers, it was Geektastic from start to finish.

After the Opening, the GeekyCon staff and the HPA faced off in their second annual Quidditch grudge match! Last year the HPA won while the Staff caught the snitch, and this year was just as exciting. After tying and going into overtime, the HPA eventually won. But the amazing GeekyCon Pep Band that played throughout were the real stars.

We ended the day as we always do, with amazing music.

We sang our hearts out at the Disney Sing-A-Long with our favorite Warblers and emcees: Curt, Dom, and Titus. And right now we’re wrocking out on the MainStage with Hannah Moroz, Molly Lewis, Tonks and the Aurors, and Draco and the Malfoys.

To put it in perspective for Snape Haters and or general fans of Harry Potter why those two panels at geekycon should never have been okayed:

Many Ginny haters to this day still believe Ginny used love potion on Harry. Would any of you be ok with two panels expressing that she was a rapist, and her obsession with Harry is creepy and controlling? That her unable to talk to him for so many years was her just plotting the day she can trick him into a relationship? That’s literally the same thing. I strongly dislike Ginny Weasley and I can see the arguments are the same damn thing.

I am the B@man… Leaky was my buddy-bro-friend-homie-amigo and now I’m back to the city and people that hate on my chum…

I am a companion. Leakycon was my Doctor and now we’re facing the end of time and he’s/ I’m fading from all of time and space.

I am Draco, Leakycon was my Pigfarts and now it looks like the rocketship has left without me in it’s intergalactic travel to Mars.

I am Kurt, Leaky was my Dalton and now I have to go back to Karofsky (pre-Dalton) everyday.

I am a Winchester, Leakycon was my family but now them demon bitches wanna tear me apart from them.

I am a book, Leaky was composed of all of my readers and now I’ve been put on a shelf and am dusty from lack of care.

I am a fangirl, Leaky became my home this past week and now my hispanic, conservative family wants me to help them out with everything instead of spending my hard earned money on what I would like.

However, with all this post-con depression I feel, I would like to reiterate how beautiful and wonderfully amazing my LeakyCon was and how I went against my parents wishes the first time in order to go so I don't really care about it this time... now that I know how much fun I will have and now that I won't have to spend as much money as last year, I fully and wholeheartedly plan on attending and volunteering at the first-ever GEEKYCON because I don't care about a name change, I care about the genuine experience of the entire Convention, my new friends, all the wonderful Special Guests I met and was able to speak with on a face-to-face level. I'm in love with Leaky and this family I've been accepted into and I will genuinely cry if somehow I cannot go next year.
