So I’d like to ramble a bit on a few interesting background details I’ve been noticing in Witch From Mercury, and just why exactly Aerial seems so damn OP compared even to other Gundams.

Consider for a moment what we’ve see of non-Aerial Gundams we’ve seen in the series proper so far; the Pharact Gundam, and the Lfrith Ur and Thorn. Now let’s compare these units with the Gundams we saw in the Prologue, specifically the two Lfrith Test-type units. When you get down to it, there really isn’t much underlying difference between them, is there? Sure, the Pharact and the modern Lfrith units may have newer and flashier armor and weapons, but they’re clearly running on the same GUND-Format system seen in the Test units back in the Prologue. Right down to seeing Elan 4, Sophia and Norea use the Permet score system the same way that Nadim and Wendy used it.

I think we can look at the Lfrith Test models seen in the prologue as representing a ‘First Generation’ of Gundams. The first functional ‘proof of concept’ for the GUND-Format system. A brand new piece of technology that functions on a basic level but still has major problems to be solved before it can be considered actually feasible. With that in mind, for as cool and flashy as the Pharact and modern Lfrith units might be, they really represent little more than incremental refinements to what Vanadis and Ochs Earth created twenty years prior. Heck, it’s almost certain at this point that the Lfrith Thorn and Ur actually ARE the original Lfrith test-units, having been recovered after the purge of Vanadis and given extensive retrofits and upgrades. Yet at the end of the day, neither Peil Tech or the Benerit group as a whole has managed to actually advance Gundam technology beyond what Vanadis developed.

Now let’s look at the other Gundam seen back in the Prologue; the main Lfrith Gundam. Because it’s pretty clear this was something entirely different. It’s pretty clear looking back at the Prologue that the Lfrith Gundam was meant to be the true next step in Gundam technology. At the very least, a means of making the GUND-Format system actually safe to use, and based on Cardo Nobo’s vague musings, probably a whole lot else we don’t know about yet.

Basically, if the Lfrith Test-types can be thought of as ‘First Generation’ Gundams, than the main Lfrith Gundam is a Second Generation Gundam. Representing a fundamental growth in the development of Gundam Technology. Just what exactly made Lfrith so different we can only guess at right now, though we can pretty safely assume that Artificial Intelligence was a MAJOR factor. The only problem was that by the time of the Prologue, Vanadis still hadn’t managed to crack the problem of getting Lfrith working.

At least until Cardo had the bright idea of plugging a small child into it.

Just from what little we see of Lfrith in action during the prologue, she is clearly something very different from even Gundams fielded twenty years later. Lfrith is able to utterly decimate trained mobile suit pilots with only the vaguest and even unknowing commands from Eri and the GUND-Format clearly has absolutely NONE of the previous unit’s harmful effects on Eri, even showing a different colored aura on her face.

And unlike the Test-units, the Lfrith Gundam managed to get away from that battle. Meaning that only Elnora/Prospera and the resurgent Ochs Earth have had access to the secrets and new developments of the Lfrith Gundam.

Meaning that while the Benerit group has been dinking around with the old, janky First Generation GUND-Format system that will straight up melt its users brain if it’s pushed even a little too far, Ochs Earth has spent the last twenty years research, refining and perfecting their Second Generation Gundam technology.

Really, is it any wonder that Aerial and Suletta have been able to run circles around and basically CURBSTOMP more or less every opponent they’ve gone up against, including other Gundams?

They effectively have a full tech-generation and twenty years’ worth of development lead over every other Gundam in existence right now. And of course that’s not even touching on what else Aerial might have up her sleeve…

Here’s my attempt at compiling a list of headcanons I have for my other favorite main gundam pilot :3

• may be stronger than the average human, thanks to his genes being modified by Dr. J, but he does happen to have a particularly sensitive stomach. Whenever he sees something flash before his eyes that’s even mildly disturbing, don’t be surprised to see him gag or dry heave. He also tends to stay away from spicy foods or anything too hot. Duo makes fun of him for it.

• also doesn’t drink. It’s mostly due to the fact he doesn’t like the way it makes him feel. It only brings him down and he doesn’t like the idea of even slightly losing control of himself. Duo used to pressure him to “lighten up” but has come to respect him for it.

• really likes animals. I can see him having a big fluffy doggie as a companion. He likes not having to use words to communicate and enjoys teaching the pup new tricks.

• Him and Duo meet up at least once a week for lunch or, if not that, they check in with a quick phone call but, either way, it’s Duo that does most of the talking.

• really likes to tend to the garden Relena started. It’s usually him who does all the watering. He even talks to the flowers when he thinks no one’s looking which only makes Relena chuckle to herself. His favorites are the white roses.

• also likes to read because he finds it soothing. Relena has a designated library section of the house just for him. She usually reads a book with him but mostly fakes a nap as excuse to lean on his shoulder.

• is not a fan of PDA. It takes a lot just for Relena to get him to hold her hand if he even does that but, when alone, he likes when Relena sleeps near him so he can hold her.

• is really good at video games. Like too good. Wufei gets very competitive with him and almost always loses (sometimes Heero lets him win just so he doesn’t have to hear him complain). Quatre usually has to quell any outbursts while Duo only eggs them on (if you know anything about G Gundam’s Go For It Domon, Gundam Party comics, Allenby is the only one who can truly beat him at pretty much any game).

Watching Gundam now, starting from the ‘79 series—did they really name a team of Zeon MS pilots Slender, Denim, and Gene?

I been on here for at least an entire month or so, I feel I should properly introduce myself or something

I also like drawing and even have fanart and some of my own ocs that I designed but I don't post them here mainly because I feel nobody would care to see them given that my skills are basic lol.

My favorite anime series are: OG Saint seiya including the hades ovas,Saint seiya lost canvas, saint seiya soul of gold, B't X, Shurato, ronin warriors, fuma no kojiro, yu yu hakusho,patalliro, berserk,devilman, blackjack, inuyasha, yugioh (season 0 and duel monsters), rurouni kenshin, princess princess, gravitation,brave dagwon, gundam wing, nightwalker the midnight detective,saint beast and the rose of versailles.

My favorite Saint seiya pairings: Hyoga/Shun, Shiryu /Seiya, Milo/Camus, Degel/Kardia, Mu/Shaka,Deathmask/Aphrodite, Minos/Albafica, Dohko/Shion . I like other ships but these are the ones I especially love to see fanart and fanfiction for Hyoshun is my main Ship ! Shirseiy and Camilo are close to being second.

Favorite bands: X japan, Seikima II, Malice mizer, Lareine, versailles, hizaki grace project, phantasmagoria, Syndrome, D, shazna, Kuroyume, missalina rei, madeth gray'll, baiser, Hanoi rocks and michael monroe, the sweet, Kiss, david bowie, the cure, dead or alive, gene loves jezebel, japan and david sylvian, cinderella, wasp, iron maiden, judas priest, motley crue, and many others mostly visual kei, and 80s music lol.

things I dislike: homophobia, transphobia, ableism, sexism and just bigotry in general, people who attack others for their ships its just juvenile imo, people who get mad if I dont instantly reply, that crappy netflix remake that made Shun into a girl..just no.

Hey there! Do you have any “out there” headcanons? Like maybe this has no basis in canon (or just a shred of a basis) but you still believe it wholeheartedly? For any fandom you want!

Hmmmm, okay, this really isn't that out there, but the Belcher kids are gonna go ballistic when they discover Crunchy Roll.

I mean, Louise is already really into Japanese media (Hawk and Chick, kuchi kopi & co, burobu cards). Louise is going to be a shonen connoissuer. She will watch all the gundams and dragon ball and demon slayer and one punch man. She'll get really into Death Note and then when it starts to suck she will come up with her own better ending.

Fruits Basket was made for Tina. She will absolutely be writing erotic friend fiction based on romance anime. She'll also watch some shonen with Louise but she's in it for the boys and the shirtless training arcs.

And Gene?? Gene will watch idol anime for the music and also he'll be mostly interested in the theme songs. Anime has new intros/outros every season, sometimes more, and the pop punk is everything. Gene will watch AMVs on youtube for anime he's never seen.

Bob will get really into Food Wars. I imagine Bob pretending he's in a shokugeki when he has to cook something important. He will relate to the Yukihira family diner and he'll wear a bandana for a little bit and carry stuff over his shoulder like Soma.

Linda?? She'll just be here for the vibes of all of it. She'll watch a little bit of everything and she won't understand any of it because you have to read the subtitles and she's too busy gabbing. BUT she will be here for the drama of it all. Louise wants a Nezuko halloween costume? Linda's on it. Tina wrote a reverse harem friend fiction where she's living with Jimmy Junior and Darryl and Zeke and all the Boys 4 Now? Linda's reading it. Gene needs help making his own amv? She's got the laptop and is singing backup vocals (at a lead vocal volume). Bob wants to challenge Jimmy Pesto to a shokugeki?? You KNOW she's reffing.

Also Tina Gene and Louise all watch Sailor Moon together.

If it hadn’t been him, they’d have found someone else. But no one else could have, would have been chosen to play Lockon Stratos. He’s the perfect understudy, now that the real thing is dead.

People will say that buffy doesn’t have a death wish and spike is projecting but I think that ignores how you can have a death wish and wanna live at the same time and also how every single slayer is basically bred to have both a “fuck around and find out” gene and a “heero yuy from gundam wing trying to self-destruct every 5 mins just bc a mission went slightly off course” gene.

Slayers are built to basically be guard dogs for humanity. they’re built to engage in dangerous behavior and be ready to die pm 24/7 or just not be able to disengage in time for self-preservation to override their slayer instincts. And has spike puts it there is no retiring and moving to Florida for a slayer, the only way out of this job is death. Ofc buffy will engage with some amount of suicidal ideation bc she can’t!!! Stop doing this shit!!!! Any other way!!!! The fact she even MAKES IT into her 20s tho is a sign of how her will to live is still stronger than that death wish. But that doesn’t mean it’s not there, she’s a guard dog with a kamikaze function built in and there’s not much she can do about that. Even in a world with thousands of slayers you’re still gonna have this shit because it’s just How Slayers Work

like y'know gundam is known for being so blatant about 'war is bad' and 'child soldiers is a war crime' but you have to hand it to them, they definitely at least made that stance clear even when they were selling you the gundam in every iteration to put on your desk

like yes, this is a nightmare machine that eats children, but it's fuckin' sick

and I think if I were charitable enough to try and draw a through line across all the novels and games, battletech is a story about how having the right parents or genes makes you provably undeniably better than everyone else, and the most important part of war is about how nice it is to win and have everyone clap for you and have the hot girl finally admit she's always loved you

even the harebrained schemes battletech game, which is the best piece of battletech media I've come across period, still basically says 'well the royal family deserves the throne and the greatest good you can do is to put the divine ruler back in power so that she can rule us benevolently'

Power Types in Fandoms

I was up in the middle of the night arguing with my ceiling about fictional characters, Death Battle style, and decided to make a ❗rudimentary❗ list, from weakest to strongest Power Types. Because it's a gradient, each progressively higher power type can (and often does) contain the abilities of lower types.
