Another World
this was supposed to be a quick study based on Escher's Another World II. but the architecture turned out to be much harder then I expected, as, although it contains relatively few elements, the odd perspective warping arrangement was not easy to work with
This also features a return of Crab Vessel with Double Spout, standing in for the surreal bird sculpture in the original piece.
the portal effect is done with ray portals in blender, they are a new feature, and this is my first time really using them. they turned out to really slow the render down, and added quite a lot of noise as well. that is the primary reason this isnt an animation

Marcel Duchamp (FR-US, 1887 - 1968)
In 1935, Marcel Duchamp published Rotoreliefs, a set of 6 double sided discs meant to be spun on a turntable at 40–60 rpm. Duchamp and Man Ray filmed the spinning discs for the short film Anémic Cinéma. These rotoreliefs were produced in an edition of 500, and were initially offered for sale at the Concours Lépine inventor’s fair. – The Guggenheim Library
Duchamp asked John Cage to provide music for his part in Hans Richter’s film Dreams that Money Can Buy (1946) with his Rotoreliefs in action [photo - thnx gregorygalloway]
